Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Josuah's gaze followed the boy's finger as he reached up and pressed it against the bridge of his muzzle. "You're a wolf again," he explained and for a brief moment Josuah didn't understand why that would cause him to cry out to him. His emerald gaze moved to the shield surrounding them and slowly he dispersed it with minimal energy waste. He was usually much more careful with bring up his shield because he knew that it drew attention, but somehow it had happened so unconsciously.
Then without another word, he began transforming back into his human self. There was prickling of self consciousness still within him as Brendon's gaze pressed into him. He wondered if he looked better...more human with clean clothes and with the bath he had last night. Josuah knew Brendon liked his human self more than his wolf and that did bother him but he didn't want to muddle his mind with such thoughts. His master had preferences and Josuah would not waste either of their energy arguing about such things.
"How are you feeling?" he instead asked with curiosity and urgency to ensure his master was feeling better.
The bed had been too soft...the sounds of the shifting house too loud and the outside wild felt too far away. But the one person that made his rest plausible was the young boy clinging to his face for all the support in the world as he slept. Josuah's senses were filled with Brendon...he could hear his heart...his breathing and every single shift as he slept. It was comforting to be there and finally be able to protect him.
He had changed back within his wolf form because he felt stronger that way...and all of his senses were heightened. He could hear the creak of the house from far away and even the stirring of other members in the household throughout the night. All of this helped ease his fear of something happening to his master. He had never had anyone outside of himself to protect and having something as precious as a charge was nerve rattling.
Despite the comfort he felt...he still didn't fall into a deep slumber. He wouldn't let his guard down because he felt that anything could happen. He was on edge due to the life he lived and that wouldn't be something easily broken.
When Brendon began to stir, Josuah was within a light sleep, his ears flickered and caught the sound of him, but the loud cry of his name jolted through him with little hesitation. His eyes jerked open and his pupils dilated as he bore his fangs and drew up to take in their surroundings...expecting a very real threat.
Unconsciously he had released his shield all around them and the power that coursed through him was dangerous and direct. He expected a killer...someone trying to take his master away...to steal his own life...
With his heart pounding almost painfully, he slowed his breathing down as he saw no one was there...and brought his gaze back towards his charge.
'What happened?' He asked through their minds, but his voice was a bit disoriented because of how he had been awoken.
Winter || Morning || Brendon's Bedroom || OOC: Hehe, it's fine! Never any rush with us. ♪ P.s Thanks for finding a picture of the clothes Brendon's mother gave Josuah!
Josuah's ears curved to the side as the wind rustled the stickily branches above him as it moved through the land beyond. Winter was coming to an end and it was both a blessing and curse in disguise. The chilly season was one of the worst to survive in, but he could rely on the coverage of snow to hide his tracks from Erikur's men. So in reality he couldn't truly feel relief even when spring was on the verge of blossoming.[break][break]
A distant sound of cawing caused his gaze to lift and there was something ominous about the black birds taking flight as though something had spooked them. But his attention returned to the black wolf from before when he spotted the creature actually bounding after him. Large black paws sunk into the snow with a crunch as he padded over, tail wagging, tongue extended and eyes that gleamed with unawareness.[break][break]
The male wolf's carefree nature was unnatural within the animal kingdom and instantly left Josuah with the feeling that he was dealing with a fake wolf. His jaw tightened as his shoulders tensed and he became quite fixated on the other creature. Magicals were dangerous...very dangerous because their abilities could be unpredictable depending on their species. He was reluctant to leave his den because finding another one wouldn't be easy, but he couldn't stay there not with the potential of a magical.[break][break]
It seemed like such a small thing...a place to sleep, but to him it was something important. Everything gained and lost within the wild meant something...and truthfully having to wander and search for a new resting place was something that effected him. His gaze narrowed on the beast approaching him and he finally lifted himself from his sitting position to run away.[break][break]
However, before he was able move the sudden eerie sound of a wolf howling nearby drew his gaze away. Within the distance he caught sight of it...another black wolf and then another and with each one more howling echoed in the distance. He clenched his jaw tightly together as the very reality of what he was seeing came into fruition. The wolf he had scared off before had returned with his pack...and both he and this fake animal were soon to be their targets.[break][break]
His fur bristled up as he flexed his nails and bore his teeth with no choice but to face his opponents. He could run but that would only give them the opportunity to attack him. He hated getting caught up in such fights, but there was little to be done. He could only hope that perhaps the black wolf who had been so casual would set his eyes on the ten different wolves coming to surround them.[break][break]

Josuah had seen the way Brendon's smile faded as their brief time of separation finally came...and he felt the same as him. He didn't really want to leave and felt anxious in doing so because... what if something happened? It was perhaps a silly thought to most but that had been his reality for so long...even before he had been cursed. The night he heard his parents were going to sell him and when the man came for him...he hadn't been able to escape any of it nor did he expect it.[break][break]
That kind of fear lingered in him as he reluctantly closed Brendon's door and glanced out to the large looming hallway. He changed in that moment, completely taking on his wolf form without a seconds hesitation. His heart settled down then and he felt the way he felt in the wild...powerful and safe. His ears perked up when the sensation of safety came into his mind because that hadn't been what he was trying to say. But, that was Brendon's blessing still working...making all of this so much easier on him.[break][break]
'I'm coming up to the door,' he revealed as he began moving forward, but no answer came from his master. That caused him to hesitate with pushing the door open with his muzzle and instead he glanced back to the door leading into the boy's room.[break][break]
"I'm here now..." he spoke up again and waited. But as he sat there halfway within the bathroom and hallway...he couldn't help but return to Brendon. He wasn't answering and that made him feel worried. However, before he opened the door he could hear the soft breathing and heart beat of his master that signified he was asleep. Still, he pushed the door handle down to see and settle his rattled nerves. There laying within the large bed was his master completely engulfed in a layer of thick blankets.[break][break]
Josuah exhaled slowly...feeling grouchy that he had just fallen asleep on him...but also relieved since he had been telling him to rest over and over. It was hard leaving but he knew the longer he lingered the less time had to get everything done. So, he drew himself away and entered the bathroom, he could see rather well in the dark, but did take the time to find the light switch and turn it on. He had spent so many years as a wolf that his memory of the human world had become hindered, but he did remember most basic things...or at least he believed he did.[break][break]
There in front of him as the room lit up was his reflection, the beast form of himself...the one he had seen rippled visions of in lakes and rivers. But now he could see his entire being and he was surprised at how sinister he looked. He took pride in his appearance as a wolf because every sense he had was amplified and his intimidating familiar form would keep most trouble away.[break][break]
But the longer he stayed there staring at himself...the more curious he became at what his human self looked like. He wasn't certain if he was ready to see himself yet, but the opportunity was before him...and he did want to see. Slowly be began turning back, but he closed his eyes to let himself look when he was ready. He could feel his heart beating, but he tried to rely on the feeling of Brendon's blessing to keep himself as content as possible.[break][break]
He had to look...he couldn't keep hiding away.[break][break]
Emerald eyes finally lifted to settled in on the man before him...the young adult...that he hadn't been able to see grow. And it would have impacted him strongly had it not been for one very...very important detail. The raspberry stain Brendon had so kindly given him. He could see it now and it caused his eyes to widen as he realized how...misplaced it actually looked. It made his heart beat harder as he lifted his hand and touched his lips...and his thoughts on what he was seeing changed.[break][break]
This was what Brendon saw...who he played with...and cared for. When he thought about it that way...it wasn't so bad. He lowered his hand and tried to smile a little, but the view was awkward and made him feel self conscious. Still...he had finally faced himself completely and having that meant a great deal to him. He was much taller than he remembered and had matured quite a bit...it was very strange to see himself now...as a man...almost a man... He may have been dirty, and dressed in ragged clothes with scars and bruises on his body, but all of that could be changed...could be healed.[break][break]

But as soon as that thought came...negative feelings returned...reminding him how much he had hated his species before. He truly felt like Brendon was someone very worthy of being protected.[break][break]
Josuah's gaze settled on his master as he grinned at him and reached up to grab the platter. His wolf was quick to reach out too and steady the plate as it was brought between them. The two stayed shoulder to shoulder as their meal was set comfortably down and soon he was told to eat.[break][break]
"All right," he returned begrudgingly, but his tone was soft as he reached down to grab a berry. It was the most familiar thing in the wild that he ate and therefore it was the safest option.
