Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Brendon’s gaze continued to return to the sight of the other male in the limousine time and time again on their drive home, and each time his dark hair came into his vision the impatience he felt heightened inside of him. He had announced to Hanzo that he wished to escort Mr. Ardel around the estate because he had wanted to get a private moment with him as soon as possible. However, he had a feeling that his want for him to permanently change back into his actual self wasn’t going to be met well.
Hanzo, of course, had been completely disapproving of the idea of a private escort but Brendon had pacified him — at least for now — with a compromise to carry around a radio to keep him up to date. Hanzo would feel ready to step in the moment things went awry. Brendon once again found himself wondering why he trusted Josuah based on his appearance alone. It had become such a big thing to him, completely consuming his mind. His appearance shouldn’t have had that sort of affect, but he was so overwhelmed by it that everything else felt so small and insignificant in the background.
The limousine rolled to a smooth stop at the front drive of the Redal Estate and Hanzo was the first to exit the car, holding the door ajar for him. Brendon stepped out afterward, standing tall and smoothing out his expensive maroon suit. He peered back toward the other male, although he was always reluctant to do so, to ensure he was following suit.
“Please have the radio retrieved for me right away, Hanzo.” He instructed and with a subtle nod of his head Hanzo moved away a few dozen feet to begin instructing one of the doormen by the front door. Meanwhile, Brendon turned his disapproving and scrutinizing gaze onto the Disguised. “We’ll speak in private as soon as we are able to.”
osuah didn't look directly to Brendon as they road, but his gaze did purposely look to his reflection within the car window. He could see the frustration building as the drive continued and he knew exactly the reason. It would have been easier if he was more forward, if he stepped in place beside the boy and rose to his full power. But he wanted to be careful, to throw off their pursuers. His years of hiding created the perfect alter existence and he could use that to protect them both.
Dark eyes moved towards the boy within the limousine and then his bodyguard Hanzo. The three of them had become entangled in conversation regarding that man's loyalty. He had learned that Hanzo had served his family for years and had been by Brendon's side for three. It stirred jealousy within him that he couldn't contain, but he always tried to reason with himself...
Brendon was not like him, his species was not under the constant threat of feeding from others. The reminder caused him to look away, his features becoming solemn as he thought about the conversation they'd soon have regarding his species.
It was then that his new home came into view and the sight of it was startling. It wasn't a house or a large mansion but rather a castle that stretched as far as the eye could see. A breath left him, his features showcasing the daunting reality of their new lives together. But he was given no real time to react before the vehicle came to a stop. Hanzo was the first to get out, and then Brendon and finally Josuah. The young male kept poising himself as though to appear older or perhaps to showcase that he was in charge. But Josuah didn't feel any form of aggression towards him or the need to dominate the situation...he only ever wanted one thing...to work together.
A slow nod left him when Brendon told him quietly that they'd be able to speak in private soon. He didn't say anything to him out loud because he knew how much the boy disliked the voice of his disguise. He decided to withdraw his phone in order to write a message for him, but the device began to ring on it's own, showing an unknown number.
His brows drew together as he glanced to his soulmate, and then silenced all callers. It was then that Hanzo returned, radio in hand for the boy. Josuah's gaze narrowed on him, not appearing rather friendly as he waited for Brendon to lead the way, despite all of them knowing a tour was just an excuse to be alone.
Brendon’s gaze drew downward and toward the other male’s phone when he drew it from his coat. He assumed he had intended to write him another message however they were interrupted by first his phone going off and by second; Hanzo’s return. “Will you call in every five minutes so I may ensure your safety?” His bodyguard requested as he handed him the radio, and Brendon graciously nodded his acceptance of the proposal.
“I promise. And if I don’t radio in, you can come and get me.” He told Hanzo confidently. Hanzo wasn’t as appeased as the young master, but he gave a subtle nod of his head nonetheless, eying Josuah with disapproval, before he turned to head off.
Brendon immediately grew excited and quickly started forward, up the stairs, and into the grand entrance hall. “This way,” He instructed, continuing forward and up the large curved and carpeted staircase that led to the second floor. Over his radio, which he held gripped in one hand, Hanzo’s voice intoned; “Update request at 8:45.”
osuah's mouth drew into a thin line, his gaze darkening and moving away from the two as they spoke. He tried to block them out, but his ears took in every detail of their interaction. He had never been someone prone to jealousy and that made the feeling feel so invasive now.
Only when Brendon called to him as he started up the stairs did the older male bring his gaze to him and begin to follow. But from the look on his face, or rather what Brendon could see of just his eyes...he was angry. Again the two communicated and the radio became a new source of aggravation for the male. He would have liked nothing more than to snatch the device from his hands and burn it to a crisp. But then Hanzo would just come...
If only he was strong enough to...teleport the boy far away so they could have some real privacy.
Brendon secured the first available room that he knew would be empty. It so happened to be a reading room with one entrance and exit, where he could hang a Do Not Disturb sign outside of the door to ward off any unwanted staff from entering. Brendon ushered Josuah inside, hanging the sign onto the doorknob afterward, and then promptly shutting and locking the door.
He set the radio down on a nearby table and then faced the other male, hands going on his hips and gaze narrowing with determination. “No more disguise.” He told him in a low and set voice, knowing that he’d been obviously keeping it a secret so he couldn’t be loud about it.

he interior of the building was as grand as the outside and it shocked the system. He had never been anywhere as beautiful as this and he couldn't stop his eyes from wandering. But Brendon was completely unfazed, seeming more interested in him than anything else. The thought should have been humbling, but he wasn't a fool. He understood that the boy was completely desensitized to his surroundings.
They were from two different worlds it seemed. Brendon drew open a door immediately, letting Josuah be silently astounded by the exquisite reading room next. His throat felt dry then, seeing all of this mastery before him.
It made him feel needy...for attention...to stun the boy into awe once more. And that is what he did, Brendon's words lingered mid sentence as he turned and was immediately jarred by the breaking of his hex. Red light glowed around him flickering shards of magic as everything was disbursed.
Slowly, he drew his hood down, and then his cap and mask, letting the boy once again see his true self.
Brendon’s breath caught in his throat, his words falling away, when Josuah immediately broke the disguise. The red hex shattered underneath him, his disguise as well, and through the hood and mask he could see the piercing emerald of his eyes staring out at him.
And Brendon… blushed. His heart thumped a little, feeling the intensity of it, as though he’d been doing it for him, a-as though he’d been a little desperate for it himself. It caused embarrassment to bombard him, made his stomach flutter, and his cheeks warm.
As Josuah began to take off his hood, hat, and mask one by one, Brendon felt the antsiness inside of him grow. He shuddered on a breath and fidgeted with his fingers, heart beating quicker and quicker.
“Why do you wear a disguise?” Brendon demanded a moment later, with pent-up frustration. “I don’t want you to! You’re my guardian now and so you have to be yourself!”

osuah knew what he wanted all along, what Brendon intended on demanding and giving it to him in such a way was so rewarding. His gaze lulled as the boy blushed and tried to compose himself, but it was obvious he had been startled. He was so beautiful with his fawn ears and golden antlers.
A soft shudder left the boy as he fidgeted in place, but he just couldn't withhold his demanding nature. Josuah glanced away from him then, finding a place to sit that wouldn't allow the boy to be beside him.
"...The disguise will help us." He told him slowly, emerald eyes lifted to his, though they held a tiredness to them. “I’ll adopt an alias in my real form and be by your side always… that way no one knows it’s my life they should be targeting. While Josuah Ardel remains locked away… untouchable.”
Josuah moved through the threading room and sat at a lone chair before a reading desk. “...The disguise will help us.” Brendon’s eyes widened, tears suddenly burning them while his ears twitched and he was finally filled with his true voice. It clenched at his heart, squeezing around it powerfully, and built upon the frustration already coiled so tight. “I’ll adopt an alias in my real form and be by your side always… that way no one knows it’s my life they should be targeting. While Josuah Ardel remains locked away… untouchable.”
“But you are Josuah Ardel. You’re the real one,” Brendon argued with emotion misting his eyes and making his face red as he tried to hold back his frustrated tears. He understood the meaning behind what he was saying, but he was being stubborn. He felt so frustrated and deprived and now he was telling him he was going to make the Imposter Josuah and him the Imposter.

osuah's gaze strained, his chest feeling heavy with the tears that misted the boy's eyes. He knew this was hard and that what he wanted was what his soul wanted.
"I know," he told him softly, and his eyes were filled with longing...longing to have a peaceful life with him.
"It'll be safer for us both if we aren't together, but I'll do it if it's what you really want." Josuah told him and he was willing to give in...to cave at every corner even if it meant their happiness would be brief. He could be this way because he was starved...starved with the loneliness he had endured for years.
“I know.” From the longing that Brendon could see in Josuah’s eyes, he felt that it was something he wanted as well. The mutual connection of shared interests… f-for something rather personal and intimate caused Brendon to become flustered and embarrassed. H-He didn’t understand why either of them felt… any of these things! Why was he okay with him being his new guardian!? All because he had blond hair and green eyes! It was… was stupid!
“It’ll be safer for us both if we aren’t together, but I’ll do it if it’s what you really want.” Josuah… conceded, to which Brendon… pouted. He really didn’t want to ever have to see that disguise ever again… He hated it. But, he knew that what Josuah was pointing out was true. After all, someone in the family was trying to get rid of them so they could take over everything.
“No, I know… It’s… better to be safer.” His gaze lowered toward the carpeted flooring, his frown heavy and shoulders slouched. “But how will we ever even be safe. My parents were…,” His expression scrunched with the uncertainty, fear, and sadness he felt. “They were murdered and they even had a bunch of bodyguards protecting them.”

rendon's little ears lowered signaling his dismay at the reality of their situation. He was a smart boy, even if he was stubborn. It made him wish that he could comfort him, but he didn't know what would happen if he did.
Josuah watched silently as the boy spoke and revealed to him the fear that came with such a tragic event. "If I had the power...I would take you away from all of this, but all I can do is promise you that I will be relentless in ensuring you live a good life."
There was so much he wanted to tell him...to give to him...but he had to restrain himself. To resist his hunger and take things slow no matter how hard that was.
“If I had the power… I would take you away from all of this.” Josuah’s words pierced at Brendon’s heart, immediately causing his eyes to mist over with tears. He started forward, feeling a desperation to have that. He wanted him to take him away. He wanted to get away from all of this. He didn’t want to be here anymore. But he grew startled when Hanzo’s voice rang over the radio, calling out his name.
A fretful look toward the clock hanging on the wall told him right away that it was 8:45. He had to backtrack and pick up the radio, pressing the button to relay a message in return. “Everything is okay on this end.”
“8:50.”
Brendon scowled a little at the radio, finding his necessity to check in every five minutes to be annoying. But, he placed it back down and drew his gaze back to Josuah.

rendon's smaller form moved forward, his ability to stay away faltering completely. But both of them were interrupted by Hanzo's voice. The evasion of their time irked him but Procubi kept his mouth shut and let the boy handle it.
His lips did twitch slightly into a smile when he saw Brendon's scowl. He had been so confident before about the five minutes, but now it was becoming a burden...as it should.
"Did your mother...ever mention me to you?" He asked quietly, but he felt like in his heart he knew the answer.
Brendon’s gaze returned to Josuah when he asked about his mother and whether or not she had mentioned him. His frown remained, his eyes dipping over his heavily clothed form and noticing the way he had chosen to sit at a single chair, at a single desk, rather than the seating area nearby with larger couches. “I didn’t see my mom very much. She was gone pretty much… all the time. I was closer to my father. But no… no one mentioned you at all…”
