Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Brendon felt surprise trickle into him as he listened to Josuah’s explanation, revealing that their connection as soulmates was what connected them together and drew them apart from everyone else. “Nothing but suffering will come from being apart. I’m certain you’ve experienced a hole in your heart… one that can’t be filled with anything but me.” He stated with conviction, but then blushed, growing embarrassed by his forwardness of the statement.
Brendon blushed too, and felt a little… overwhelmed having to take everything in. He had gone his entire life alone and in isolation. Despite preferring that lifestyle, he couldn’t deny the fact that he had also been lonely. Incredibly lonely… Soulmates were connected? Their souls were? He had heard about it before, and knew that his mother’s work had something to do with it, but he really had been kept in the dark.
“If my parents knew that we needed each other, and would be really lonely apart, then why would they keep us away and not tell us about it?” He asked, feeling confused. “I did feel lonely, and sometimes really upset. I didn’t like anyone… and could get really moody about it. And I was drawn to you… right away, and your disguise made me really mad, even though it didn’t make any sense. And then your real appearance… I, I just… knew…”
He felt his eyes misting as he grew emotional. He really was connected to him, more than he had even realized.

is flustered state made him wonder if the disguise was working against him. Emerald eyes drew down to his soft hand and he felt a little aggressive about acting like a child. But the conversation became serious as his other half began to speak. Hearing him talk about these things made him sad and angry.
"I told you there were different tiers... ours is the highest which means...we'll become obsessed with each other and they'll be no room for anyone else. It makes people try to prevent it because...they don't understand the pain of it...it's selfish..." he muttered and could feel his skin heating as fire began to glow inside of him. It had been a long time since that had happened...but that was thanks to Brendon's energy.
"She took a risk though...because I grew up unable to feed on anyone...and I would have starved if..." he muttered, a hand drawing to the necklace where he could always feel the warmth of Brendon's essence.
Josuah explained more thoroughly about the tiers of soulmates and how the two of them were at the top. Brendon wondered how he knew that, how he knew any of this. How had he found him? How had he known about him? And why didn’t he? Why didn’t he know about any of this? It made him upset and disturbed. “We’ll become obsessed with each other and there’ll be no room for anyone else.” Josuah revealed, and then explained that it was that obsession and need that caused others, like his parents, to try and keep them apart.
Brendon could see his power. He could see the way his skin began to lightly glow in a fiery red-golden hue. “She took a risk though… because I grew up unable to feed on anyone… and I would have starved if…” Josuah trailed off and lifted his hand to his necklace. Brendon knew what he meant, although his heart still rejected the idea of him actually starving or ultimately succumbing to death. He wouldn’t have. He would never be like his parents. He would never suffer that fate.
But he couldn’t deny that they were in the same danger as them. Someone wanted the seat of power that they sat on, and they had already killed his parents as the first phase of their plan. They would be next, and it was one of the biggest reasons as to why he wanted to leave.
“I think that I would have saved you no matter what,” Brendon told him stubbornly, and with the same conviction that Josuah always seemed to be able to walk around with. “It’s why my necklace appeared for you in the first place.”

rendon's stubborn words actually calmed him down the glow within his body began to lesson and a softness entered his child eyes. But with it was the maturity of his older self. It was easy to believe him, in their connection and it was such a comfort to have.
"I believe every word of that," Josuah told him, drawing the necklace forward and smiling down towards it. He felt needy again...the same urges from before beginning to swirling inside of him.
"Soulmates also mean...that we can't harm each other. We're incapable of it," Josuah revealed softly. "Hanzo wouldn't need anymore proof then that..."
“I believe every word of that.” Josuah conceded, and his acceptance of his statement made Brendon smile. He settled down somewhat, drawing his hands into his lap, his gaze up and toward Josuah, with his legs kicking out in front of them. Josuah’s gaze grew needy and hungry, but their conversation continued nonetheless. “Soulmates also mean… that we can’t harm each other. We’re incapable of it.”
Brendon’s eyes widened, a-and he really had no idea how Josuah knew all of this! Was this information just laying around in books! And why didn’t they have any books in their own libraries about it! The thought made him moody, puff out his cheeks, cross his arms, and huff. But, Josuah’s next statement caused his attention to rivet back to him. “Hanzo wouldn’t need anymore proof then that…”
“A-Are you sure?” He asked, eyes still wide with his surprise. The thought of being able to prove it to Hanzo helped to settle some nerves in the pit of his stomach. “If we could get Hanzo on our side… that would be really beneficial for us. He’d really be able to help, especially with everything going on.”

rendon's eyes became wide with surprise, but then he grew grouchy with all the information he had on the subject. It was unexpected to see his jealousy over something as simple as knowledge, but perhaps it was because the subject was of utmost importance to him.
"...If it works then it would be beneficial, but it will cost us if it doesn't." Josuah warned Brendon. He wanted to him to know all angles of the decision before they decided on what they wanted to do.
"When he knows he might feel the same as your parents. That you are too young to be exposed to a soulmate...which may in turn make him never leave us alone."
Brendon’s expression fell when Josuah pointed out the flaw in his idea. “When he knows he might feel the same as your parents; that you are too young to be exposed to a soulmate… which may in turn make him never leave us alone.”
Brendon nodded, his shoulders slouching as he realized that he was right. He had thought about it from a proof perspective, especially when Josuah had pointed out as much. But, he was right about the decision his parents had made and the fact that Hanzo could very well feel the same way. More so, he could have possibly been informed by his parents, about his potential soulmate, and to keep him away.
“No, I don’t think we should risk it. We should keep everything between the two of us.” His gaze trailed toward the floor, his frown still prominent. “But what are we going to do about someone in the family trying to get rid of us? How are we not going to be in danger?”

is heart squeezed a bit when Brendon's face fell, but he had to give him all of the information. In the end he supposed he was leaving the final decision up to Brendon since he had lived with Hanzo most of his life. The thought made him grouchy, but then he had already told his soulmate that he was jealous.
"I think it'd be best to cut contact off from the rest of the family." Josuah offered and finally reached for him. His gloved hand made contact atop of Brendon's as he spread his fingers over his and gripped him firmly.
"They can't hurt you while Josuah Ardel is locked away. As for plans beyond that...I'm not sure. But we'll figure it out together."
Josuah reached down, placing his hand over his own. But they were gloved and instead of feeling the softness of his skin he felt the coarseness of the thick material. Still, he was warm, and he could feel his personal heat. Josuah suggested that the two of them cut off contact to the rest of the family, and Brendon gave a slow nod. “They can’t hurt you while Josuah Ardel is locked away. As for plans beyond that… I’m not sure. But we’ll figure it out together.”
Brendon’s amber eyes peered up at him, but now he was like him. He was young and short, and much more on par to his height and stature. His face was also young and pouty. “Since I’m your soulmate...,” Brendon began, and couldn’t hide the cheeky smile that pulled at his lips. “I think I should give you some more energy!”

t first his other half nodded, but then he grew distracted as he stared at him. The way he was looking made his heart thump because he felt like he knew what he wanted long before he even parted his lips.
When he finally did ask and give him that boyish smile...Josuah's gaze lulled and he stepped in front of him...clearly unable to resist such temptation. "Only if you let me take it in the form of a kiss..." his tone was low and needy as he spoke, his features becoming dark with the lust he felt towards his request.
His cheekiness was met with something much more embarrassing. Josuah’s gaze lulled and he purposely stepped directly in front of him, staring down at him with an embarrassing sort of look. Brendon’s heart thumped, especially when Josuah requested; “Only if you let me take it in the form of a kiss…”
W-Well, he had told him that they were soulmates. Brendon’s cheeks darkened with color and heat. It felt almost inappropriate now, that Josuah had made himself younger, j-just to request… these sorts of things. His heart thumped again.
“Y-You want to kiss me?” His voice squeaked a little, from the embarrassment he felt, and it made him squirm in the sofa seat. Wh-What would a kiss feel like? His warm lips… against his own…
Hanzo called over the radio then, interrupting their moment.

t was hard for him to not just take it, but he held himself back. He could see the embarrassment his bold request caused, but it was just a kiss. Nothing else would come of it...he was certain of that. He just wanted something to solidify their relationship, that and the energy he'd receive from something more intimate would be vastly satisfying.
"Y-You want to kiss me?" Brendon returned and Josuah couldn't take it, he gripped the edges of the couch and lowered intending right then and there to steal his first kiss. But his movement was halted when Hanzo began to radio in only this time the situation was more pressing.
"9:20," Hanzo stated and was clearly bothered by the fact that he was late with checking in, but that was because something unexpected had happened. "I need to speak to Josuah immediately."
Emerald eyes moved towards the radio, and his chest tightened as he realized that his hex needed to be made. "Can you distract him?" He urged Brendon softly, but didn't hesitate to move around the couch and begin hastily scrawling out his disguise hex.
When Josuah lowered down a zing of alarm moved through Brendon, a gasp catching in his throat. His fingers unconsciously gripped at the armchair as his back straightened, and a feeling of anticipation built inside of him. B-Because… he wanted Josuah to kiss him.
But Hanzo suddenly called over the radio, and Brendon was so disappointed that it brought tears to his eyes. However, when it became clear that it wasn’t a regular call in, and that he needed to speak with Josuah, it garnered both of their attentions.
“Can you distract him?” Josuah asked, but had already moved away from the sofa to begin drawing out the hex onto the ground once more. Brendon felt disappointment bloom in his chest, but he did get up and move to go pick up the radio.
“What’s wrong, Hanzo?” He asked. “Did something happen?”
“Bradford has insisted on making a scene.”
Brendon’s large eyes whirled around onto Josuah, looking to him with worry. “That’s my uncle,” He informed him with a sudden frown. “I wonder if he found out about your visit to the the Attorney.”

osuah hesitated, when he saw the tears beading the corner of his eyes. "I will give you what I promised," he whispered to him with strain in his tone before he forced himself away. He wanted to make it better for him...in some form or another.
Fortunately being smaller really helped speed up his hex creating process because the size of the circle could be really small. His gaze narrowed as he focused on his task and only lifted when Brendon spoke to him with worry.
"I know who that is, don't worry it'll be fine," he told him in his voice one last time before he stood up and stepped into his hex. His eyes closed and the transformation took place, his size grew, his hair darkened and all of his features became unrecognizable once more.
When Josuah had promised to give him a kiss… later on… Brendon had blushed. He had felt embarrassed over being so… transparent. But, he had picked himself up nonetheless to scurry off to the radio. When he told Josuah about his uncle, Josuah informed him that he was aware of who Bradford was. “Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.” He added and then stood up and stepped into the circle he had made.
Brendon watched him with a frown, seeing the way he transformed back into the dark-haired male that neither of them recognized. “We’re coming out of the Turquoise Reading Room now,” Brendon radio’d to Hanzo. “Where would you like to meet us?”
