Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
“It’s a precaution. Hanzo has barged in on us once before,” Josuah explained and the tension within Brendon visibly expelled. His shoulders fell and he drew in a quelling breath, his cheeks still a little puffy from his momentary rebellion. Like a kid, he crawled onto the couch, looking over the back of it with his arms draped across the back, bottom lip pouting as he stared down at him. “We still need to discuss what we want to do.” Josuah added and stood to his full height, and Brendon felt… a moment of happiness knowing that he was still himself.
“I told you… that I’m fine with your idea because I know it’s important.” He couldn’t stop pouting. “And you’re right, and it’s better, even if I don’t like it.”
His gaze lowered along with his ears atop his head. “It’s better for Josuah to remain hidden and… and… you to be… a new bodyguard.” He suddenly frowned with the realization that Hanzo would never let that happen. His brows furrowed and knitted together. “I don’t know how Hanzo would ever be okay with that, though. Especially if it was because Josuah ordered me another bodyguard, he would want to stick around like a hawk.”

osuah was surprised to see Brendon climbing up onto the couch to peer down towards him. Seeing him there...filled him with yearning... It made him feel on edge and he tried to focus...to not give in.
"How would he feel about someone younger?" Josuah asked, and glanced towards the hex. "I could say I have a younger brother...and come as myself...in child form." He offered and looking back to the boy.
“How would you feel about someone younger?” Josuah’s suggestion surprised Brendon, as it clearly hadn’t been what he’d been envisioning. Although, it piqued his interest but as equally made him feel suspicious. “I could say I have a younger brother… and come as myself… in child form.”
But his suspicions were instantly pacified when Josuah revealed that he would still be himself, just younger. He could use the disguise hex for that too? The thought of… seeing him younger, or even around his age, warmed his heart. But then he felt embarrassed… about missing those parts of his life in the first place. What a strange and dumb thing to feel!
As Brendon thought about it he felt that Josuah would always be in danger no matter what. If he came as his bodyguard, however, he would probably be in even more danger than if he were to come as a kid. But at least as a bodyguard he could protect himself…
“Okay,” He decided in the end and gave a nod. “That would probably work better than coming as a new bodyguard. Were you going to be around my age or even younger than that?”

awn ears twitched upward in surprise and then lowered with silent aggression. He was so expressive and it allowed Josuah to really take in what he was feeling. He could tell from visual alone that Brendon had become guarded with the thought of him looking like anyone other than himself. But the whole point of their conversation now was to keep him the same.
It took the boy some time, but eventually after much contemplation he agreed. Josuah would have liked to say he was patient, but truthfully he was...struggling. He would need to feed again soon to try and quell this growing urge inside of him. How long until he felt satisfied?
"What would you like?" Josuah asked and moved away from him in order to stand with the hex and wait. He didn't have any pictures of himself as a child because they had been lost during the accident that had killed his mother...and his father was never one to find value in pictures after that.
Josuah stepped into the circle of the hex as he asked for his opinion of which he would like, and Brendon realized — with a small burst of excitement — that he was going to use the hex to change himself. Brendon immediately bounded from the couch and wandered around it for a better and closer look. “Try being my age first!” He demanded with clear excitement, his eyes alight and his ears perking upward.

osuah made a low noise of tension the moment Brendon approached him. He felt unhinged around him but it wasn't because he was doing anything wrong. The older male gave a light nod as he closed his eyes and began to recall his younger self. Anything older he wouldn't have been able to remember because that was when his disguise had become a heavy part of his life.
Slowly, the hex beneath his feet began to glow, bathing them both in red light before his image shattered and beneath it was a slightly shorter male, but one who still very much appeared older that Brendon.
He exhaled slowly, feeling as though it hadn't used as much energy as before or maybe he just had more than usual circulating his body. "Will this do?" He asked, and was even taller than him, just by an inch or two.
A low noise of tension exhaled from Josuah’s throat, and Brendon’s ears could easily pick up on it. He pouted and pursed out his lips. He felt that Josuah still needed more energy, because he hadn’t taken from him for very long at all. But, he was still recovering and even he knew that it wouldn’t be wise for him to take more right now. He needed to regain some of his energy first, then Josuah could take more.
However, he was more powerful as he used the hex magic; Brendon could feel his essence in the air and taste the difference from the weakness that had been present before. He was stronger now and that was because of him. The thought made him both happy… and a bit embarrassed.
Josuah’s current appearance gave way to a younger, more youthful him, but he only looked younger by just a few years. He didn’t look anywhere near as young as him! And Brendon immediately pouted over it, thinking that he hadn’t gone young enough.
“Will this do?”
“No, you have to go younger, Josuah.” He whined in response and with no hesitation, his cheeks slightly puffy and definitely pink.

rendon's amber eyes rose to his after his change, and immediately he grew moody. A very prominent whine left him in response as he demanded that he go younger. Josuah was surprised but also effected by his neediness.
"All right," he supplied and crouched down to begin drawing the hex symbol once more. It was during that time that Hanzo radioed in again and Josuah immediately looked to Brendon. But he didn't feel jealous.
"There's more we'll need to discuss when we find an appropriate age," he told him softly, his tone more youthful.
Josuah didn’t argue with him. He crouched down to begin drawing the hex again and Brendon felt that it was a ridiculously complicated design to have to draw it over and over again. He wouldn’t have been able to do it. He wasn’t patient enough! Hanzo called his name over the radio and Brendon sighed, even though there was nothing that could be done about it. He didn’t dislike Hanzo… not anymore, at least. In the beginning, he’d had a hard time with him, but now the two got along.
“There’s more we’ll need to discuss when we find an appropriate age,” Josuah told him, his emerald watching him move to the radio. Brendon gave a nod of confirmation, his shoulders slouching with defeated annoyance when he picked up the radio and brought it before his mouth.
“Everything is still fine, Hanzo. He’s not a bad guy.” He relayed a little aggressively into the radio and then huffed before settling back down. “9:00…”
Brendon set the radio back down and ventured over to the hex, and Josuah, once more. He was still eager to see him younger — truly younger, and looking more like his age. What if he made him look even younger than that? What if he asked him to be a little baby boy?

sigh parted from his other half's lips as he turned and finally created much needed distance between them. He wondered why he had placed the radio so far away, perhaps to try and forget about it's existence. Josuah watched him from where he was crouched, paying attention to little details others missed. He felt warmth in his heart when the boy scolded Hanzo, even if it made no difference...it was nice to hear.
When he returned, Josuah was finished, standing within the hex and breaking the other to appear as his older self. "I'll try twelve years old next," he offered because he was pretty certain 13 would be too similar to 14.
He closed his eyes again, focusing, remembering his design as a child. He could feel the energy of the hex as it filled with his power and began to change his from just as before. His eyes were larger now, more expressive, but still held that sharp handsomeness he did when he was older. He was also smaller than Brendon now, by more than a few inches and finally...he was in his old clothes.
He had blue jeans, gloves, and a jacket that covered him well, but what was embarrassing was the golden deer design he had on it. His clothes changed with each memory, it was only notable now because when he was fourteen he wore the same clothes as his older self.
Josuah stood and broke the hex of his fourteen year old form. “I’ll try twelve years old next.” He offered, and Brendon blushed as he realized that he was doing this for him, because of his… demands. He wouldn’t ask him to go even younger, because he was pretty sure that twelve would be more than good enough. The thought of being able to play with Josuah, and the two of them being around the same age, really warmed his heart, and he realized how much he actually… wanted it.
However, he still wasn’t prepared for the look of him in his youth when he activated the hex and changed his form. He was much younger looking now, even a little younger looking than him. His hair was much softer, and his face too. His eyes were big and his face more rounded. The change of clothing was surprising, especially since he was wearing a jacket with a golden deer silhouette at its front.
“I, I like that one.” He told him, suddenly feeling a bit shy and bashful. He looked younger than him, but he wasn’t! He was an adult inside!

rendon's cheeks became rosy as he watched him with a deep curiosity. He could feel his eyes on him even as he changed and finally when he was there before him...he could see his soulmate was satisfied.
"I, I like that one," he blurted out immediately, looking quite eager. Josuah gave a light nod, no hesitation in agreeing with him, but he did turn to move towards a furniture piece that allowed him to see his reflection.
His clothes had been an accident...and they were a source of unwanted memories. His features became strained as he gripped the shirt with his small fingers and lifted it. He could hear the sketching of tires...and exploding smash of glass and metal.
Josuah nodded in compliance but did draw away from the area to search for a mirror so he could see his reflection. Brendon wandered over with him, still feeling a bit frazzled from his ability to do all of these disguise sort of things. He’d been sheltered most of his life and so despite the world being magical aplenty, he actually didn’t have that much experience with it.
Although, when he spied himself in the mirror, he seemed bothered. Disturbed. Brendon immediately frowned, not understanding what it was that he didn’t like about it. “What’s wrong?” He asked, his ears lowering a bit against his head.

hand was brought to his cheek where he could feel the softness of a child now, but Brendon's approach caught his eye and slowly he looked to him. When he asked what was wrong Josuah felt a knot in his heart.
"...It's a heavy subject," he explained, but gasped softly, surprised at the sound of his voice. It was more embarrassing than he anticipated and it caused him to clear his throat a little trying to make it deeper.
"I lost my mother at this age..." he tried to explain, but was struggling a little, clearing his throat and frowning a bit as he tried to find familiarity in his new form.
“...It’s a heavy subject.” Josuah explained, although immediately appeared perturbed by the soft and childish sound of his voice. Brendon reacted as well, hearing the sound of a child-like him, his cheeks darkening considerably. He’d had such a masculine voice before. Josuah pointedly cleared his throat and attempted to speak in a deeper tone. “I lost my…,” He cleared his throat again. “...mother at this age…”
I-It was… cute, but he had to push those funny little feelings aside because of the contents of the conversation. From the way he had reacted, Brendon could already determine that the loss of his mother was something that disturbed him, and he didn’t like being reminded of it.
“Oh…,” He gave him a look of sympathetic understanding, considering he had just… lost his own parents. “You can… try thirteen, or you can go back to the fourteen one. I don’t mind.”
