Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

rendon's ears flickered repeatedly as he listened, and Josuah could tell that he was trying not to get distracted by his new voice. He could feel the emotion of his past lurking within him especially when the reason for his mother's death was connected to them.
"No...this is a good disarming age," he supplied, large emerald irises lifting up to his. His words were ironic because innocent is exactly what he looked like. "Your offer is kind though," he told him quietly.
Was it selfish that he wanted Brendon to replace the memories of his past with new ones? That when he looked in the mirror that he wanted to see only them and not his mother's death? It had haunted him for so many years. How would Brendon react if he knew the truth?
The thought made his throat feel dry and he was suddenly met with the worry of somehow pushing him away. "I'll need to make preparations for...my arrival," Josuah mumbled, peering up at him again.
However, Josuah was determined to keep the age, feeling as though it would be the best at disarming any threats. “Your offer is kind though.”
Brendon nodded, his gaze lowering to Josuah’s hands, which were covered in gloves. He was so much smaller like this. He really did look completely like a kid. His heart warmed at the sight of him, but he couldn’t shake the sadness of knowing that it brought Josuah discomfort. He was being stubborn though, and now he wouldn’t change it.
“I’ll need to make preparations for… my arrival.” He told him, peering up from their height difference. The top of Josuah’s head now only made it to the top of his chin. He was really short, and really kid-like. And now he was peering up at him, and he felt kind of embarrassed.
“Okay. What are all the preparations that have to happen?”

soft nod bobbed his brown hair before he became distracted with his outfit. It made Josuah feel obligated to explain to him why he had a deer design on his clothes. But there wasn't time for idle conversation.
He took in a deep breath and narrowed his gaze to Brendon's suited chest. "I'll have to return to my other disguise and inform the household of..." he paused, blinking as he realized something detrimental.
"What should my name be?" He asked, since his original had been taken.
“I’ll have to return to my other disguise and inform the household of…” Josuah frowned as he trailed off. “What should my name be?”
The question caused Brendon’s gaze to widen. But, he had known a different name was inevitable. He just wished that his other disguise looked different — at least somewhat like Josuah, for him to be called Josuah. But, it didn’t. He looked like a completely different and unrelated person. Someone random off the street, and it really… annoyed him.
What was an appropriate name that his younger self could be given? Something that could also mean something to him? He… liked Emerald, and Josuah’s eyes were a beautiful shade of it. He also loved wolves, especially golden wolves with emerald eyes. But, he had never given his wolf a name, other than Emerald.
He did have a very special gem that he coveted ever since he had found it. It was a jewel called Sphene, and it had become his favorite because of its ability to be half green and half yellow.
“I would say… either Emerald or Sphene.” Brendon offered. “Sphene is a really special gem that has both green and yellow in it.” He explained with kid-like energy.

rendon appeared shocked that he'd have to change his name, but after a moment of thought he soon understood why and it was clear that he wasn't happy about it. Josuah wanted to comfort him, to tell him that a name gifted by him would be very meaningful to him. But he didn't have to because his soulmate was already choosing a name.
Emerald sounded more masculine, but Sphene's meaning went deeper then that and choosing it came so naturally. "Sphene," he replied in a somewhat intense tone, as much as he could in his current form.
"I want that to be my name..." he told him softer and tilted his head looking to him with eyes that were wise beyond their years.
“Sphene.” Josuah repeated, his voice sounding funny every time he spoke. But, funny in a way that it sounded younger and still familiar. Still his. Unlike that stupid disguise… “I want that to be my name…”
Brendon’s smile flourished at hearing his acceptance of it, and the fact that he seemed to enjoy the meaning behind it. Sphene had felt special to him as well, so he was happy that they naturally shared that sentiment.
“All right, so that will be your name.” He conceded but then grew reluctantly serious again. “So… what preparations will have to happen?”

osuah couldn't stop his thoughts when Brendon smiled down at him. His expression was so warm and inviting that he wanted to...make contact with him again. But was that just his Procubi side trying to bait him into feeding again?
Unconsciously, he drew to the tip of his toes, trying to gain height over Brendon or rather come closer to his lips. But he caught himself and looked taken aback by his actions.
"There's a lot to prepare," he muttered. "I want to rush it...so that we can be together sooner, but Hanzo is too much of a threat...he'll figure it out if we aren't careful."
Josuah lifted higher, standing on the end of his feet, and Brendon was genuinely surprised by the gesture. He may have looked like a twelve year old, but he was still an adult mentally, so it was strange to see him… acting immaturely. M-Maybe he was practicing.
“There’s a lot to prepare.” Josuah began to go over what would need to be done, as well as his distrust of Hanzo. Brendon pressed his lips firmly together. He trusted Hanzo with anything that had to do with himself. However, he was more than certain that he wouldn’t be trusting, even in the slightest, of anything to do with Josuah. And Brendon didn’t have anything that he could put on the table, so to speak, to prove to Hanzo, without a doubt, that Josuah could be trusted. As it currently stood, he was trusting him merely on intuition alone and that wouldn’t be enough for Hanzo. He didn’t blame him… Normally, to be so trusting like this, especially with the crises that was going on, was completely foolhardy.
Brendon nodded his agreement, although he felt sad about it. “I don’t have anything that could convince him right now… that he can trust you.” He admitted and sighed. “So we have to do it the hard way.”

osuah had seen the look in Brendon's eyes when he rose in height and even now he could feel the light thumping of embarrassment in his heart. He was drawn to him no matter his form and it was hard resisting. But he was content just being in the same room as him, it was fulfilling even if they weren't touching. It was still such a hard thing to believe...that he had found his soulmate...that he was there before him now.
"...You really trust him don't you?" Josuah asked, and there was a sadness in his voice as he spoke. "I know it's unfair...but it makes me jealous," he admitted openly, his gaze turning from Brendon.
Josuah admitted to being jealous of Hanzo and the fact that he trusted him so much. But, Brendon had already been able to tell, various other times prior to now, that he had been jealous of him. He smiled and headed over to one of the sofas in order to take a seat and rest his tired legs.
“I know that he’s on my side. That he was on my parent’s side.” He told him in return, arms laying against the armrests of the chair and his legs spread out. “But I also know that he’ll go against my wishes if he thinks that I’m in danger. He doesn’t listen to me completely so I can’t trust him completely.”

gain he unconsciously followed, his body moving closer to Brendon as he sat down and his own hand grasped onto the side of the armrest. A soft breath of tiredness parted from the boy's lips and it made him feel guilty because he was responsible for it.
"I know that he's on my side," Brendon began and everything he said about Hanzo felt reasonable. It would be good to have someone else on their side. But it was hard for him to let anyone else in...he was greedy for Brendon.
"...I have something to tell you that will upset you," Josuah told him softly and sighed his gaze lowering into a frown. "I know that you trust me for reasons...that seem to have no logical explanation."
“...I have something to tell you that will upset you.” Josuah responded with a soft sigh, his gaze lowering away. Brendon wasn’t certain what it could be but the threat of it upsetting him immediately caused his posture to stiffen. “I know that you trust me for reasons… that seem to have no logical explanation.”
He felt… embarrassed to know that Josuah recognized as much. He hadn’t ever admitted it outloud, but he had been struggling with it silently this entire time. He nodded in silent agreement to the statement, his own gaze lowering away.

shyness crept into his features but he didn't deny his claim and instead gave a light nod as he glanced away. Josuah was looking at him again and he could feel a tightness in his chest because what he was going to say would hurt him.
"...It's because I'm your...soulmate..." he whispered, his brows pushing together. "Your parents knew but kept it from us both...we're of the highest tier so they were afraid of...losing you to that connection."
Not all of this information was within the letter, but he had gathered it from the extensive studying he had done into soulmates. And denial of two souls was more common than he wanted to admit. People who didn't understand the connection made such terrible decisions...decisions that only benefited themselves. To only need one other person was something very few people could ever dream of understanding.
Josuah's gaze lowered to the couch because he could smell the burning of the material. He was angry inside, and trying to keep it hidden, but it had come out with the way his fingers dug into the armrest and began to burn the material away. He forced his hand back and remained deadly silent.
“...It’s because I’m your… soulmate…” Josuah whispered, brows knitting together and a frown weighting on his lips. “Your parents knew but kept it from us both…”
Soulmates? Brendon’s heart thumped, his eyes widening subtly. But, he had very limited knowledge on the subject as most of it had been purposely kept from him.
“We’re of the highest tier so they were afraid of… losing you to that connection.”
“What does that mean?” Brendon asked him, his own brows knitting together but with confusion. His parent never talked about it but he had heard the word come up before in the household. His mother had always been gone because of her species and their culture, but now she was… dead. He felt a bit… bitter about it, bitter about all the time wasted and for nothing in the end.

rendon pulled him from his anger, when he asked something unexpected. He looked to his large curious eyes, and the way his features shifted as he thought about his words. It was common knowledge in the world and so the fact that Brendon didn't know about meant it was purposely kept from him.
"It depends on the type of connection...for ours it means that we'll only ever be with each other...and that nothing but suffering will come from being apart. I'm certain you've experienced a hole in your heart...one that can't be filled with anything but me." He blushed a little feeling as though saying all of this out loud was a bit bold and embarrassing.
