Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Joshua's heart leap when Brendon's voice penetrated the confinements of the bedroom and his...lack of embarrassment surprised the young wolf. He whirled around as Brendon stormed headlong towards him and stated rather incredulously that he could heal him whenever he wanted.
The thought of...feeling his healing powers again instantly filled him with alarm and his gaze broke away from the boy to try and find a means of escape.
"I...I don't want anything else from you," he told him desperately as he moved away from him in an attempt to avoid any contact. His heart was still pounding and his thoughts from before began to resurface and taunt him. His kiss had been unconscious...but he had liked it because...for a moment he foolishly believed it meant Brendon wouldn't he able to forget him. He felt insecure with his future because of the betrayal he had suffered from with his parents. But that wasn't how he wanted to be...fearful and reliant on someone else!
"I take care of myself," he snapped aggressively as his thoughts overflowed into words. But he didn't hesitate with what he was saying because he was aggravated. Everything made more sense when he was in the wild. The human world was complex and the surplus of emotions were difficult for him to handle. Even now he could feel the lingering effect of his master's healing... as it gripped him with an invisible hold that made him feel warm.
What was real? And what was just the contract? He couldn't decipher either of them!
Their connection was brief, but it still helped aid the restless feeling that had suddenly flourished inside of him. He had felt the warmth of his essence entering his master which had been an accidental gift. He had forgotten that it was within his power to give the boy his energy. Josuah had never wanted to be someone's familiar...but with Brendon...those feelings seemed to vanish.
However, the sensation was short lived and the consequence...
His features strained as his heart clenched unpleasantly when his master jerked away so abruptly he fell onto the floor. He hadn't been able to catch him...but it was unlikely Brendon wanted to be caught after what he had done.
The sight of his master sitting on his backside, staring up at him and with a hand covering his mouth would have been cute if... he had more confidence. But he wasn't confident in himself...or what he had done and that caused him to quickly look away. It was exposing to have kissed him and be given such a reaction in return. The more he thought about it the further into despair he fell and that caused him to try and escape it. He rose from where he had been seated and moved away from Brendon.
"You...You can't heal me any more," he commanded loudly. He...he wanted to change...to go back to being a wolf where he felt like he had more power and control over himself!
Inside he felt the sting of jealousy...that the boy hadn't been more accepting of his kiss...but such thoughts only made his heart pound heavier. A sound of frustration left him that resembled more of an animal rather then the young adult he was, but he couldn't concentrate...he could only pace to try an expel some of his aggravation.
A deep breath of air entered his lungs and remained there as his master's healing began to take hold of him. He could feel his magic gently weaving through him to find his wounds. The art of healing was such a lulling sensation, but it also harbored an intensity that was overwhelming. Josuah exhaled slowly as he kept his eyes closed and tried to keep still, but he was becoming restless like before.
He had a desire to heal his master as well, to share the experience of being filled with one another’s essence. The urge to do so was strong, his eyes opened and looked to Brendon as the sensation of raw want muddled his conscious. Brendon’s eyes were shut as he focused intensely on mending all of his scarring. He was always taking care of him...
The scene was tranquil and bloomed a strange want deep inside his chest. His emerald gaze lulled with desire as he leaned forward and pressed into his lips...briefly sealing a first kiss between them. He felt a flare of his own energy moving through him and entering Brendon as he unconsciously gifted him his power...as only a familiar could.
His actions had been pure instinct, and the feeling he was given in return was rewarding. He felt comfort and a sense of belonging. He was taking something from him...stealing a kiss that would make him unforgetable.
It was childish, but couldn’t be helped...because deep down he was scared of being replaced.
It seemed giving Brendon what he wanted did not result in him considering his previous suggestion. Instead the boy grew excited and complaint as he reached forward and set his hands down against his shoulders. The anticipation his contact brought him was enough to make it very difficult to relax. Healing was much more powerful than a blessing...
His heart started beating much heaver when Brendon moved down over his shoulders and rested against his collarbone. The sensation of movement was...stimulating. He had to close his eyes to try and distract himself, but the lack of sight only heightened his other senses.
"Y-You have to keep your eyes closed!" Brendon demanded...and Josuah felt a jolt of energy course through him. He almost opened his eyes...but he kept them closed...eager and impatient for it all to begin.
"I will," he whispered with determination as he tried to keep still...and wait for the feeling to begin.
Brendon's features filled with heat as he stared at him with grumpy suspension. But within the smaller boy's heart, Josuah could feel he was embarrassed by his request. He wondered how long it would take for Brendon to realize just how much he enjoyed his blessings. The feeling was addictive and made him feel like Brendon was there within him as a constant presence. It felt childish and foolish to feel that way, which made it impossible for him to ever openly admit it.
"...If that is your wish," he told him quietly and glanced to him expectantly. Any form of argument would only result in Brendon doing the opposite of what his wolf wanted, so he was trying a different approach... and gauging his response. It wasn't the perfect time to be testing such a theory, but he wanted his master to feel open to what he was going to ask.
And if that meant being submissive...for a time...then so be it.
Brendon's gaze remained on the door as he took in his mother's words and the conversation held between the three of them. Josuah could feel that doubt was beginning to enter his heart and he paid attention to that feeling as he continue to watch his charge. But he remained innocent as he instead focused on his muted down grouchy feelings. He tried to pull his hand away, but Josuah wouldn't allow him even as he told him that what he had said was stupid.
Josuah's jaw tightened as his hold again his hand remained strong before he began leading Brendon towards the vanity set. He was going to tell him about his past to better prepare him for the outside world...to show him that he was living evidence of betrayal.
"Will you give me a blessing?" Josuah asked after he had taken a seat and was now slightly lower than his master. "And then brush my hair?"
Josuah remained on edge, but didn't display as much hostility as the black wolf that was a handful of feet beside him. The other male was making his aggression so known that the stranger before them had riveted all of his attention onto him. And it made him wondered briefly if he could provoke an attack in order to give him the opening to leave. The one named Tani didn't appear afraid of the lack of welcoming and instead seemed to take the rejection rather well.[break][break]
"I supposeee you won't give me what I want either," he mumbled out and turned his gaze onto the golden wolf for a moment before plopping his hands down on each side of his hips with a shrug. "Well what more can Tani say?" he told them honestly and with a bit of a upside down smile.[break][break]
"Finally find some friends and they won't even play," he muttered as he turned his back to them and leaned his head into his hands as he trekked through the snow. "This is why I prefer wolves at least they aren't so quick to dismiss me."[break][break]
The white haired, olive skinned male continued forward without even looking back. His hair was held back by a gray tribunal looking bandanna with gypsy like decor jingling from the sides. His clothes were dirty and he had a lip piercing above his left lip, along with a weak bearded chin.[break][break]
Josuah could have decipher his words but he had wasted enough time with this entire incident and preferred not to be out in the open during the day any longer. Still, with this man wandering freely within the forest...he'd have to backtrack a ways in order to find a safer place to sleep for the day. The last thing he wanted was to be caught resting by either of these two. A muted sigh left him as a brief look of exhaustion filled his eyes as he lowered his attention from Tani and towards the black wolf that had made it very clear he was not friendly. The contrast between his actions now verses their first interaction was completely drastic. He had no understand on why he was comfortable playing with a wolf twice his size, and then be so guarded with others.[break][break]
In the end it didn't matter... the black wolf had helped him in dealing with the pack of wolves that had attacked and had no doubt aided him with avoiding another confrontation with Tani. The stranger may have believed they were friends and the thought of fighting with two supernatural beings was enough to make depart. Regardless of either of their motives, Josuah merely cared about finding a safe place to sleep.[break][break]

The man stared between the two of them waiting, but could clearly see that they weren't very trusting of him. "Oh...I havee been rude haven't I?" he stated in dismay and actually plopped down into the snow with little care. Josuah's gaze narrowed and he remained watchful and on guard as well... The scent on the other man...was becoming more clear with less of the other wolves around. The stranger smelled of wolf blood...as though he had been in a battle earlier or perhaps had many battles throughout the season. It was always difficult to tell the finer details of a scent, but he wouldn't let his guard down until he knew exactly what to expect of this man.[break][break]
Skeleton trees sway their shadows down over the ground as a wind blew through the land and the area was completely clear of anymore wolves. "Oh I am sorry about my friends," he grinned as he glanced back at the muddy paw prints leading away. "You big guy gave them quite the scare," he added with a muffled laugh as he drew his eyes towards Josuah.[break][break]
"But I'm Tani, come now you two," he gestured with his hands impatiently. "Won't you become human? How about I guess what you are? Will you talk to me then?" His gaze narrowed back onto the black wolf with red eyes.[break][break]
Josuah's attention briefly moved from the two he had stumbled upon and towards the open land. He could run away now, but he wouldn't turn his back on either of these two. He didn't trust either of them and had learned from the past that strangers with any kind of magic were far worse than a pack of snarling fangs.[break][break]

Winter || Morning || Forest || OOC: Sorry for keeping you waiting with this! And for the size too, but I don't want to do too many things without giving Arlo a chance to react.
Josuah waited with his hand out stretched as Brendon made a childish face at him, but he didn't withdraw his hand back and finally his charge accepted his gesture. His gaze appeared a little surprised when the boy began swinging their arms back and forth to let him physically feel his frustration...but their contact soothed his worry. He drew him in as close as he could manage until he was pressing against the side of his body and arm.
His expression strained when Brendon's mother refused to answer them and chose to depart instead. He knew that he couldn't press more than he already had...because it was clear she wouldn't tell them anything. He tensed when she patted them on the head...and the feeling was strange. It made him want to believe that she wouldn't betray her son...that she would protect him...but Josuah couldn't take that risk.
When she left the room, his gaze turned to Brendon and he felt his heart tighten with pain. He didn't want him to know his world...but he couldn't think like that. Fergus clearly didn't care for Brendon and had caged him within the estate. Perhaps his life was good now, but it wouldn't last.
Josuah felt the flare up within Brendon before he even opened his mouth. His gaze focused on his lips as they parted and balked at his statement. It was immediately muffled by his mother who was instantly scolding him. But her words were overtaken by his own powerful voice as he spoke to his master.
'Do not distract your mother. If you wish to lash out then scream at me privately,' he told him and was not at all being patient with his outburst. 'Who does Fergus care more about? You or a threat that has entered his home? I need to know what your mother knows.'
His heart was thumping because he wasn't used to being so...aggressive at least not with words. He knew Brendon was young, but his safety came first over his manners and frustrations. Josuah could feel them within his heart, he knew he didn't understand and didn't like being pushed out of the conversation.
"He's just frustrated..." Josuah explained and stuck up for his master as he peered at the mother with hope she would be understanding to him. "Master," he called to him coaxingly in hopes he would settled down. He held his hand out and reached for him wanting him close.
Josuah saw it...the fear within her features...he could smell it coming off of her and it only meant one thing...Brendon was in danger. His emerald flickered to the young boy who was barely growing into his body, who he had seen coddled by his mother, and had his room filled with items that were precious to him. He had been foolish to not think more on his actions and how he would impact Brendon's world.
The two of them were guided back to Brendon's room and Josuah only followed because he hoped she would speak more freely. But her answer was vague and she was trying to remain passive as she answered.
"What future does that decision hold for Brendon?" Josuah asked more urgently, but he was careful with his words because he didn't know this woman. "Will he be safe?" He asked more quietly his expression growing solemn. "I do not care what happens to me as long as he's safe..."
Josuah's words became quiet towards the end as he glanced to Brendon and felt nothing but obligation to him. He wanted to speak with him, but the matters at hand were far too important and needed his full attention.
The three of them retreated from Brendon's bedroom and moved throughout the manor to reach the office of the household leader. He was given the first taste of how grand Brendon's home was and it felt as thought the winding staircases and hallways could go on forever. His own home had been much smaller...he did not have a family as vast as a small town to fill the rooms within his home. It had only ever been his mother and father...and then him. It made him wonder if his parents had run away from home because he had no contact with outside relatives. No grandmother's or uncles, nothing...just his empty room and his parents who always were untouchable.
But his thoughts became centered on his surroundings when they finally reached the location of their meeting. A woman sat behind a desk and her presence seemed so...impersonal. Fergus was family but one could not speak with him as such. It was bitterly ironic and he felt like it was strangely similar to his own home, only the separation was obvious. The woman vanished after Brendon's mother spoke with her and the three of them waited in silence. But Josuah's eyes were trained on the door the secretary had disappeared behind...and within the room he could hear the foreboding voice of Brendon's relative.
His jaw tightened and posture grew stiff when he heard the man's reply and dread began to bloom within his chest. Something was wrong... Emerald eyes lowered to Brendon...the boy he had felt upset with, but now his mind was on what was to become of them. His chest remained tight as they had no choice but to leave, however, Josuah was not going to allow the conversation to completely evade them.
"What decision has been reached?" He asked and drew his slightly hardened gaze towards her. She knew more than she had told them...and he wouldn't allow her to keep them in the dark. "If it involves my master's safety I need to know," he told her more sternly. He had called him master again...but that is what he was...his master...and despite any frustrations he held he couldn't give up the word because it was the only word that connected them. Even if that connection felt cruel at times.
Brendon's mother instantly tried to reprehend the situation by telling him that he needed to be human before they could meet with Fergus. Joshua knew that he was being childish by allowing his master's words to effect him...and it was more insulting when the boy's mother tried to get him to apologize in order to mend his feelings.
His emerald gaze hardened as his heart tightened and he forced himself to return to his human self. He stood there tense and glanced towards the two of them to explain himself.
"It was an accident," he admitted and it wasn't entirely a lie. He didn't say anything else as he stood there and waited not truly looking at either of them any more. His gaze instead was towards the window. He could see the wall even from where he stood...and it was reminder of his cage...of how he had stumbled into a place where only one person believed he belonged and they seemed to change their mind base don their temper.
The fire burning within Brendon...was entering him so powerfully. His feelings washed away his own and made him feel strange. He was listening to Brendon's mother, but he could just feel all of his master's pent up frustrations. When he finally spoke up to yell at him, Josuah found himself closing his eyes and remaining very still.
He didn't realize how the boy's words bothered him...how his desire to wave in his face that he was nothing more than a familiar weighed into his heart. When he finally opened his eyes...he realized he was no longer a man...but a beast.
His emerald gaze lowered to the floor and he felt desolated. He was trying to untangle the world he had found himself in, but it was difficult and made him close off.
Josuah closed his eyes and exhaled when Brendon didn't hesitate to argue with him and even use his contract against him. He knew deep down that he wouldn't have allowed this type of treatment...that he would grow vicious to regain his freedom. But there was something about Brendon that pacified his temper. His emerald gaze narrowed as he became more determined to complete his hair and return to the room without saying another word to his master.
Brendon was frustrating, but he was also kind to him and a child. He had to keep all of these in mind while he dealt with him because he...he was the adult. His gaze narrowed on himself as he thought those words and felt he urgency to prove that he was mature...that he could step into the body that had been given to him.
He may have been a child before he was cursed, but he was a man now and he was determined to never forget that. Josuah turned and retreated from the bathroom to enter the room where his master and the mother resided.
"I brushed my hair," he stated boldly as his gaze flickered down to Brendon.
