Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Impatience sunk into Nathan’s shoulders as he awaited word from the entering scout. His fingers flexed restlessly, curling up and tightening grip before loosening. The vampire was prepared to charge in and face whatever waited inside the warehouse, but he forced himself to wait. The virtue, patience, was one Nathan rarely demonstrated. Mission completion was pedestalled by the young vampire. His willingness to wait for the scout information was inevitably running thin as green-haired man resisted every urge to leave their present hiding place.
[break][break]
Cold air reddened his cheeks as Nathan's cheeks as he maintained his crouched stance. The man's yellow-green eyes surveying, waiting for the static noise of his radio to flare. Impatiently, Nathan adjusted his footing, giving his stiffening legs a moment to loosen up. The longer the hunter was forced into his stationary position, the more his body complained about the uncomfortable position. Though, fortune arrived in the form of increased radio static and words being transmitted through. The vampire's eyes flickered in hope, his being praying the opportunity to fight would shortly be upon them.
[break][break]
Information was fed to them, an unguarded back entrance mentioned. Briefly, his eyes greeted his fellow hunter's, the pair nodding in a mutual decision. Slowly, Nathan grabbed his radio, bringing it to his lips to speak.
[break][break]
"We'll head around back then, keep us updated," he spoke.
[break][break]
In spite of his impatience, Nathan maintained a smooth, levelled and quiet voice as he spoke. Something equivalent to a gentle whisper as to avoid any indication of their presence. Once spoken, the radio returned to his belt and his hard eyes fixated on the individual he was paired with. Slowly, the pair stood from their obscured position, eyes scanning the immediate area. As standing became viable, his legs sung relief from being freed from their seemingly perpetual crouch. Carefully, Nathan moved behind the other hunter, body shifting to maintain a low stance.
[break][break]
Their feet crept over the snow, the soft crunches being among the few signals of presence. Though as they moved, the occasional stop and survey of the area operated as a well-needed requirement. The foggy breath left their lips as the closed distance between the front to the back. Though, once they arrived, the pair were once again forced to conceal themselves and wait. The second message indicated concerns that made the vampire glare. They believed their arrival to be cloaked in secrecy, yet the chance of being expected existed.
[break][break]
The radio from Nathan's belt was grabbed, the button clicked and only a brief thought was taken to not loudly booming over the device. A single thundering voice and those suspicions would be confirmed notions.
[break][break]
"Are you fucking serious?" He grumbled in an angered hiss. "Are we better off just rushing them now?"
[break][break]
If the Assembly were truly aware of their whereabouts, even vaguely, there was barely a point in hiding. Their stealth operation was jeopardized should they already know of their arrival. Though Nathan hoped for some surprise and their beliefs being from natural assumption more than anything else.
Weight arrived with TRS duties as expectations showered over the members affiliated with the prestigious company. Protect those who required the defence and defeat the bloodthirsty BASTARDS known as terrors. Those beings composed of tech or shadows were twisted, murderous malefactors searching to spread misery among the populace. Mere thoughts of their villainy summoned a growl from the depths of Nathan's throat. The Assembly of Phantoms and their malicious pack of terrors ruined the positives of his life, tainting them thoroughly.
[break][break]
THEY murdered his nanny, THEY murdered his brother and THEY would undoubtedly claim further lives with the utmost callous and disregard. His fingers squeezed the knife's blade as his throat emitted a growl. Crouched beside a building alongside another hunter, the short-tempered, fight-ready vampire awaited word from the circling scout. Cold seeped through Nathan's jacket as he pressed close to the brick building, his temperature regulating bracelet staving it off. His shoulder leaned heavily against the hard surface while his yellow-green eyes peered from their cover.
[break][break]
Dressed in their hunter uniforms, Nathan and his comrade were prepared for the upcoming mission. The one they were tasked with consisted of the uprooting of a building swarming with troublemakers, and possibly Assembly members. Thus, the pair were accompanied by a couple of other hunters taking up different steads. Pairs of two in order to maintain stealth while the scouts worked steadily on triangulating locations. Once an exact building could be provided along with numbers on the present terrors and Assembly members, they would retreat or head in under the steady eyes of scouts.
[break][break]
Further from their work area was a small dispatch of medical staff, prepared to take anybody needing quick medical attention. However, currently, the mission consisted of a long-standing waiting game that tested Nathan's patience. The radio hummed static as the pair waited for word from the infiltrating scout or an emergency 'move in and rescue my ass' flare. Nonetheless, the antsy unit one hunter allowed his hand to tighten and relax around the blade. He was prepared to fight, but the wait felt fucking long! While scouting was a mission of delicateness, the vampire was prepared to move in and dispose of the stupid terrors!
[break][break]
These creatures required the edge of the knife and the transition into a pile of fucking ash! However, they were being granted the precious mercy of a few more minutes of life as they patiently waited for something to happen. The low hum of the radio haunted Nathan's ears as his patient was tested, grinding against his hearing. Any shifts away from the seemingly endless static was a welcomed notion. The scout accomplishing their quick reconnaissance was a girl, somebody whose name coincidently matched the season they recently entered, Winter.
[break][break]
An impatient grumble rumbled from Nathan's throat as he remained crouch above the snow. The snow long arrived at Lorsette, forcing many of the hunters to dance around the building at an obnoxious distance, less the Assembly view their tread marks. An annoyed huff heaved out of Nathan as he angrily glared on. Certainly, any minute now they would be fighting the terrors, right?
Through the passing branches, Nathan rushed by, clearing logs and hurrying between the trees. In his hands, the radio is clutched tight enough to turn knuckles white. Confirmation reached his ears, the agreed meeting place being viewed in his mind. The lakeside with a slight clearing to avoid oncoming threats. The growls of terrors reached his ears, a troublemaker blocking his path. Yet, never did the vampire cease, rather, he sliced through, carving its neck to keep running.
Over time he busted through the trees, being freed from the close quarters of the forest around them. His breathing is heavy, Nathan glancing around and discovering the brown-haired raiju acting as a unit 3 sergeant. The man appeared relief, but Nathan ignored his emotions in favour of focusing on the present situation.
"Yeah, yeah... Let's just worry about this fucking situation," the vampire grumble and took a moment to breathe. "Should we like... see if anyone else is in the area? I don't even know how many are in there! It could be a fucking rat's nest."
A soft growl rumbled from Nathan's throat. How many minutes passed? He could hardly be certain between the ducking, weaving and retaliating.
"I don't fucking know... I just know it is fucking stupid."
The vampire genuinely had no clue how long he wandered through the trees. Fighting back and defending himself against the monsters working towards swallowing him whole. He toughed through it, but the passing minutes would be nothing but a mystery. From the treeline, the familiar inhuman growls echoed, suggesting the terrors following Nathan would lumber from the forest any minute.
Minor relief reached Nathan's ears as he gained confirmation of assistance arriving. The vampire maintains his focus and proceeds to rocket himself through the trees. As he moved, his yellow-green eyes scan his surroundings, surveying and assuring he would arrive. The sounds of rustling disturbed him as a troublemaker broke through the trees.
"Dammit!"
Quickly, the knife is drawn as he swung his blade towards the monster's neck. Enhanced speed activated, carrying the action with the swift momentum needed to down the creature quickly. Further rustles breach his ears, Nathan's eyes narrowing. The location was scanned as he moved, hoping he could slip past danger. The radio returned to his lips as he hurried through the forest.
"I'm not trying to get killed! I might get held up though... I just saw a fucking troublemaker and I hear some rustling, but I'm en route. Should breakthrough from the north unless I got turned around."
Hope surrounds Nathan as he prayed to be correct on his present location. Alas, between the eratic gunshots and unexpected ambush, the fact was difficult to determine. The movement proceeded, Nathan closing in on his destination with hopes his navigation skills were on par.
Ringing shots blare over the radio accompanied by the soft rustle of moving underbrush. Another grumble of swears, inaudible beneath the thundering sounds of a combative situation. Fortune would arrive in the form of a voice crackling over the TRS mandated radio. A relieved sigh breezed through the lips of the green-haired vampire. An eye-roll was accomplished, the protocol being a reminded feature as the man identified himself as the cemented "failure" in Nathan's eyes. Unfortunately, options were limited at best.
"Don't think it fucking matters right now, I am kinda pin- FUCK!" his voice stops randomly.
The rustling sharpened, a voice being muffled over the radio. The young hunter protected himself, a barrier of blood from his fresh wound rescuing him from the nut. One hand remained pointed ahead while the other scrambled for the radio and returned it to his lips.
"Nathan Beckard, unit one, I'm in Calico Forest at the moment, a few kilometers from the lake I think! Now hurry the fuck up! I'll try and get this bastard off me, but he is a fucking nuisance!"
The sounds of shifting branches echoed through the radio as Nathan rolled away from the shadow sword. The shield transformed into needles being launched at the attacker to keep him away. Once distance was created, the vampire turned tail and ran.
"Meet me with backup at the lake maybe?! I should be able to make it."
The words were grumbled out in a begrudging whisper as the vampire fixated on receiving assistance. The entire circumstance was infuriating, and would undoubtedly, upset his boyfriend.
The sound of radio static echoed followed by a sharp gah from pain. It radiated from his arm and through the static the distant noise of gunshots followed by growls of terrors. Everything went seriously wrong with the mission abruptly handed to Nathan Beckard.
"FUCK!" Nathan shouted into the receiver. "HEY! I NEED FUCKING BACKUP! I'M A LITTLE OUTNUMBERED AND THIS FUCKER IS A NUTJOB!"
His thunderous call for back up was a natural response to the dire situation he was shoved into. Placed in the forest, effectively being the "block" between a madman and his terror possie. It was a fucking nightmare!
[ TRS only please and this is a radio transmission! <3 ]
APPRENTICES WERE THE MOST OBNOXIOUS INDIVIDUALS TO HANDLE! The lesson was hastily learned by Nathan as he stood beside the blood dome, his pale hand splayed as he attempted to exert his control over it. A groan of annoyance breathed through his lips as Demetria made his efforts exhausting. Why would she make the situation fucking easy?! Seconds were passing with nothing happening, no strengthening or weakening of the blood dome. There were no doubts about Demetria's energy gradually depleting because of her foolish resilience to his suggestions!
[break][break]
Tell the dome to break! The basic command was ignored by the foolish redhead! Rather than take the advice, she strengthened her shielding and decided to waste her damn energy on defending herself against a non-existent opponent! Vexation transcended over Nathan the longer he stood, attempting to crack the absurd dome she created. His apprentice desired to assist others, yet, failed to control the precious hardened fluid defending her! Although, as Demetria's energy waned, her control followed and eventually the experienced hunter shattered her dome.
[break][break]
With narrowed eyes, he watched for a few moments as Demetria laid on the floor. It appeared probable she would lose consciousness.
[break][break]
"Fucking idiot," he muttered beneath his breath.
[break][break]
The green-haired vampire retreated to the radio system, pushing the button to speak through the intercom to the staff.
[break][break]
"Can someone call the TRS pleased? Demetria fainted and I need someone to look over her. Anyone with familiarity in dealing with exhaustion would be helpful," he reported calmly.
[break][break]
He held doubts about Demetria losing her life over the altercation. Already the staff would be arranging themselves, one individual, on the phone calling the TRS while somebody with first aid experience and healing would be treading down the stairs with haste. The system was simple and assured Demetria would receive whatever healthcare she required. Nonetheless, Nathan was displeased with the actions of his apprentice. Her reckless disregard for instructions was infuriating! But unfortunately, she was at the end of the training courses, meaning it would become sink or swim...
Hand-pressed against the body-temperature dome, flat against the surface as he closed his eyes. His apprentice lacked proper control over her blood manipulation. Under most circumstances, a masterful blood manipulator could break the control of a frightened novice. It would be a draining task, but their battle interaction was limited, leaving Nathan with boundless amounts of energy reserved. Therefore, he hoped to apply it to forcefully taking control of the hardened blood protecting Demetria and remove the obstacle draining her.
[break][break]
An intense drain meant a hospital trip, and the fully-fledged hunter damn-well aware of it. Alas, Demetria failed in the simple task of demanding otherwise from her blood as Nathan requested. Throughout his takeover effort, he sensed the shift of the shield's prioritization. She wanted fucking protection again! Anger boiled through Nathan's veins as he noticed the deliberate disobeying of his recommendation. If she wanted freedom, she needed to take fucking control and cease the action that was draining her!
[break][break]
"DEMETRIA! YOU NEED TO FUCKING STOP TELLING IT TO PROTECT YOU OR ELSE HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSE TO GET YOU OUT?! NOW TELL THE DOME TO BREAK AND WE CAN GET YOU OUT OF THERE!" He shouted, infuriated by the circumstance.
[break][break]
His focus shifted back to shattering the dome, but if Demetria proved uninterested in taking his advice, Nathan planned on switching gears. Should his apprentice prove to be failing him further, the trained vampire would be forced to shift to enhanced strength and his manipulation to demolish the shield. It was a dangerous path, but if there were any hopes of Demetria's safety, he would risk the bruised knuckles and energy loss.
