Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Memories resurfaced of the time he had spent with his younger brother Nathan. His time was short, or at least he'd argue such a thing. It was still fresh in his mind, his death and how he was thankful Nathan hadn't died too. Of course returning had been for the sake of going after those AP members to ensure Nathan's live was never in danger ever again. He had bought a burner phone, contacted Brasti for a disguise hex and Orville Redenbacher was born. He had arrived to TRS HQ, allowing everybody he had viewed as his comrade as new allies. It was of great importance to him that his true alias remained a secret from the rest of the world, that included his younger brother Nathan. Being promoted to lieutenant was the best day of his life, or it would have been, if Nathan wasn't here. He had been walking towards the front door when he had seen Nathan at the front desk. It hadn't crossed his mind that Nathan would be joining TRS. He had mixed feelings on the subject. He got to see his brother again, but he didn't want him to be here. It meant dangers lurking around every corner. With a small breath, he walked towards the counter. "What do you think your doing? You know you have to have parent permission to sign?" He asked, knowing fully well that Nathan was eighteen.
Knowing fully well there was likely no way in hell their parents would sign the forms, leaving him to believe they were about to clash. Which was perfectly fine with him because if he pissed Nathan off enough, maybe he'd change his mind and go back home. He stood up straight, wanting Nathan to know he was the lieutenant. Once more mixed thoughts had crossed his mind. Though he was upset Nathan had come here to join TRS, he was proud at the grown man in front of him. Of course mixed feelings weren't allowed in this conversation so instead he chose to shove them in the back of his mind, hoping that Brasti wouldn't notice the siblings standing so close to each other. Nathan, why are you here? You know I never would have wished that life upon you or anybody else for that matter. Go home, be safe and go home. He thought to himself, desiring to do what ever it takes to get Nathan to change his mind and leave.
The birthday which changed everything finally arrived and passed, allowing Nathan to be labelled as an adult male. Early September passed quickly, the vampire mentally and physically preparing himself for the rigorous training of the TRS courses. The hasty preparation phase surprised his parents, the opportunistic pair attempting to persuade Nathan to never join the TRS as a hunter. They believed their persuasion was working, however, the young, green-haired man merely wished to live up to his brother's legacy. Undoubtedly, Donovan was a fantastic hunter and somebody who upheld the safety of everybody around him. The younger brother's plan would finally commence today. He dressed, pulling on a white t-shirt, black pants and a camouflage sweater. Once clothes covered his frame, Nathan snatched the keys off the bedside table. They jingled as he shoved them deep into his pants pocket and grabbed his wallet shortly afterwards. The vampire knew he required his driver's license to prove he was officially a full-fledged adult. Without hindrance, Nathan walked through the manner, heading down to the large garage where his small car was.
[break][break]
Smoothly, he entered his car, the driver's side door closing behind him before he finally pushed the key into the ignition. The vehicle fired up, Nathan promptly backing out of the garage to drive down to the TRS headquarters. Throughout the drive, excitement roamed his veins, the vampire smiling broadly at the thought of finally joining the TRS. He parked up front, entering the headquarters, where he paused briefly. Eyes wandered around the interior, the long reception desks and solid wall colours making the headquarters appear like an average office building. A woman sat at one of the desks, her gaze moving to lock on him.
[break][break]
"Hello, may I help you?" She asked in a cheerful tone, a lip-tight smile stretching across her face.
[break][break]
Slowly, his gaze locked onto the woman as Nathan began to approach the desk. In a fluent manner, the vampire fetched his wallet from the depths of his pocket.
[break][break]
"I wanted to sign up to become a hunter," he explained.
[break][break]
The driver's license got plucked from the cardholders in his wallet before being placed onto the desk for the woman's eyes to view. Carefully, the blonde woman adjusted her glasses while her delicate hand grabbed the license, gazing over the card, assuring its valid. A small smile graced her lips as she provided a satisfied nod then handed the identification back to Nathan. While the green-haired man placed the driver's license back into his wallet, the receptionists grabbed a stack of papers, placing them onto the desk before handing him a pen. There was a brief explanation of the contract until silence reigned, the woman waiting to possibly assist should it be necessary. Footsteps echoed from behind him as Nathan gradually proceeded through the registry applications. Somebody spoke, the green-haired man's eyes locking onto the old man wearing a pair of stars on his chest; a lieutenant. Despite the man possessing a high rank, Nathan refused to be intimidated by this individual. He proceeded carefully writing down answers, finishing the last few areas.
[break][break]
"I am eighteen, so I don't need permission," Nathan explained in a sour tone. "So I am signing up to become a hunter."
[break][break]
Mild annoyance was evident in Nathan's voice as he responded to the lieutenant, evidently displeased somebody was under the impression he was foolish. Signing up before the age of majority was impossible, especially considering his parents refused to sign the papers. The straightened posture the lieutenant displayed resulted in Nathan accomplishing similar. He turned around and stood straight, legs together, arms positioned at his sides. The vampire pushed himself to finally reach this position, and he would be damned to allow anybody to get between him and his dreams of vengeance. The Assembly took everything important to him, and he was prepared to take it back.
Donovan looked at Nathan, watching as he looked back at him. He stood up straight as to appear superior. "Signing up to become a hunter." He repeated the words to himself in a mumble. He had a pretty good idea on why Nathan would be here signing up as a hunter. Why the hell did I give in and teach him some moves again? He thought to himself, blaming himself for why Nathan chose to join. "Fresh into adulthood and already jumping to TRS as a hunter." He answered in return, trying to hide the fact he knew how old Nathan was. He watched as Nathan straightened his posture to mimic him. Dear god this is just like old times, except he has no idea who I am or the fact I am very much alive. He thought to himself, glancing behind Nathan, he'd look towards the woman to see if she was really going to accept him as a hunter.
Once more his gaze would return towards Nathan's. "So you think you'll become a hunter just like that." He started, raising his hand, he snapped his fingers. "But it is going to take a lot of hard work to accomplish." He added, once more lower his hand to his side. I have to be mean to him. If I'm not, he may never return home. He thought to himself, unaware of how determined Nathan was to remain here. If he gets accepted, I'm going to request him in my unit. I'll be damned if he gets placed under one of the other lieutenants. He thought to himself, allowing the silence to drift between them.
Straightened posture designed to manifest the illusion of superiority and perhaps to intimidate. Observations from Nathan's yellow-green eyes provided a variety of body language based signs of the lieutenant's general attitude. Similar behaviours were displayed in the vampire's father, the pair evening holding a similar height. They were taller than the male average and therefore taller than him, however, these tactics failed to deter the steely young man. Years of his father's futile attempts to tame his rebellious and short-tempered attitude essentially made him immune to these intimidation tactics. The vampire's eyes narrowed into a glare as he addressed the lieutenant, evidently unappreciative over the attempts to frighten him or perhaps, make him grovel at his feet. Defiance flared in Nathan's yellow-green eyes, undertones of determination burning inside those orbs. Several years passed since his brother's death, and he refused to finally reach the proper age only to be intimidated by some old bastard thinking he could be deterred. The repeated words were responded to with a curt nod, Nathan avoiding complete respect.
[break][break]
Posture was maintained, dog tags shining brightly despite the meagre light bulbs in the room. The named etched to him not belonging to the young vampire, but rather the man who inspired him to join the TRS, to begin with. Donovan Beckard, his beloved older brother who was maliciously murdered because of his foolish decision to follow him that evening. The significant dog tags he carried around with him everywhere, the sign of pride in his brother. When the lieutenant stated he was fresh into adulthood, Nathan nodded in response. There was a seriousness expression on Nathan's countenance as the older man spoke. The vampire refused to submit and quiver beneath this man's words; he refused to be intimidated! He listened to the lieutenant proceed to speak, courage evident when he explained there would be plenty of hard work.
[break][break]
"I don't expect that," Nathan countered in an annoyed tone. "I want to be judged just like everybody else. I don't expect special treatment."
[break][break]
Undoubtedly, the arrogant teenager expected to succeed in the program, but he was aware there were training requirements. He witnessed Donovan go through his training, thus Nathan was thoroughly aware the courses would never be easy. Without hesitation, the vampire met the lieutenant's eyes, fearless and filled with determination. Nothing could make him turn back from his decision. Honouring his brother and continuing his legacy was more important than his feelings towards a certain lieutenant.
Donovan watched Nathan, the little boy he once knew seemed to be gone. Now stood before him a young man, one that appeared to not take anybody's shit. Or at least that is the vibe he got from him as he stood in his presence. Too bad for Nathan, he wasn't about to be pushed away just because he felt like it, oh no, he'd stay in front of his face and prepare him for the cold world a head. And if lucky, he'd watch his brother give up and walk home. He wasn't going to feel upset knowing his brother would be safe instead of in danger twenty four seven. Seeing Nathan wearing his dog tags gave him pride, it was difficult to hide it. He had spoken about the training being hard, hearing Nathan he figured out his counter that he wanted to return back to him. "I see you wear his dog tags. Donovan Beckard, so you must be his younger brother." He answered in return, a small smug grin forming on his face.
"I look forward to seeing you either make it or break in the process. Lets find out if you can tough through this training as your brother had." He answered, knowing he was being a complete bastard in the process. I just want him to be safe. Why won't he back down and go home? This isn't fair, I wasn't expecting to see him join, I never wanted to disrespect him like this. He thought to himself, upset that it had come to this just because he wasn't willing to give up attempting to encourage Nathan to head back home. It is clear to me, I'm going to be requesting him in my unit after all. He thought to himself, remaining in his posture as he looked back at Nathan.
A determined sheen evident in his yellow-green eyes, Nathan refused to crumble into a cowardly state in the presence of authority. Nobody would control his decision or deter him from finally avenging his beloved brother. When Donovan died, everything at home shifted and in a house filled with servants, the young, wealthy vampire suffocated in loneliness. Friendships were nonexistent as sorrow firmly grasped him and everybody meaningful to him was pushed away. Enough tears were shed while mourning the loss of his nanny and brother. He promised himself to remain strong, insisted on removing people who could potentially cause him pain should an Assembly creature discover them and kill. The overwhelming pain discovered in lost froze over Nathan's heart and anybody could notice how the young boy hardened since becoming a man. Proudly, Nathan displayed the tags worn by his brother, the young vampire always keeping them close after Donovan's early death. Evidently, the lieutenant noticed those shining tags resting idly on his chest, secret pride being successfully hidden in the man's face. When the old stranger stated he must be Donovan's brother, Nathan nodded in response.
[break][break]
Narrowed eyes filled with steely determination as the lieutenant stated what he would enjoy viewing. Make or break, everything was leading up to the moment where he finally graduated and became a hunter.
[break][break]
“I will tough it out, cause I’m not giving up,” Nathan responded in a low growl.
[break][break]
Somebody needed to avenge Donovan and assure his sacrifice was not in vain. His brother protected him, thus he was determined to use his life to defend others so those feelings of mourning never arrived too early. The vampire's fists clenched tight as he stared up at the lieutenant, refusing to budge from his position. Success was crucial to carry on his brother’s legacy and NOBODY would hinder his path.
Donovan found himself staring at Nathan, unsure of what else he could say to try and encourage him to change his mind on the subject. They were still out front, Nathan had just finished signing up so the only thing left to do would be to allow the process to finish so that he could be assigned a unit. "You better tough it out, we don't accept wannabes here. It is bad enough going through a hero's death, but anybody below that isn't welcomed here." He answered in return, not normally this harsh to anybody that had recently joined. One might even wonder if he had a problem with the green hair teen in the first place with how he was trying to encourage him to change his mind despite the papers being signed over. "You let me know if you change your mind. I'm sure I could find something else for you to do, such as cleaning toilets or something." He answered in return, of course that would be harder than it appeared since Nathan had the right to stay and there wasn't anything he could do about it.
He had signed the documents to become a hunter, so only time would tell if he'd make it or not. Damn it Nathan, why the hell do you have to be so fucking stubborn with me? I'll just have to try harder to get you to quit. There is no shame in going home, I'll always love you. He thought to himself, not currently worried about his reputation of being a bastard to the newbie that had just signed up. I'm willing to through everything away if it means that you quit, do it right now. He thought to himself, he breathed in and out. "Just like Donovan, he shouldn't have ever joined up." He answered in a disrespecting tone. Of course he didn't believe that fact, but he had reason to believe Nathan had a deep respect for him since he was wearing his old name tags. "Died just like that." He added, about to say how, but shut up before it came out. Did the file say I was killed by a Terror or an AP member? I can't remember and I can't risk him questioning me about it.
Stubborn and revenge-lusting, a determined gleam proceeded to shine in Nathan's eyes as he maintained his straight-back posture and fearless stance in front of the lieutenant. Authority would not be rudely pushing him around immediately, if anything, he demanded respect from his peers. Without, Nathan would undoubtedly reciprocate those disrespectful remarks, hesitance a nonexistent quality after being pushed beyond that point. Years ago, Donovan toughed out the rigorous training program, successfully graduating and becoming a full-fledged hunter. He would accomplish similar, no matter how hard they pushed him or dragged him down, Nathan knew he would fight through a graduate from the TRS training program as his brother had. Avenging the only person who genuinely lived up to the title family was important to the young vampire. A single foolish decision on his part resulted in Donovan meeting his early demise, thus Nathan believed it was his duty to join the TRS to carry on Donovan's name. The vampire's eyes narrowed the longer the lieutenant spoke, something about the older man's demeanour suggesting he already disliked the new recruit.
[break][break]
Whoever this lieutenant was, it quickly became obvious there was dislike between them, however, Nathan refused to be beaten down. Listening to those bitter words only influenced the determined teen to prove this dumb bastard wrong. Prior to joining, Nathan was trained in self-defence by his brother and furthered himself after his brother died. A growl rumbled from his throat when the lieutenant mentioned finding him a different job.
[break][break]
"I AM NOT CLEANING ANYTHING! I WILL BE A HUNTER!" He snapped loudly.
[break][break]
Anger was an impossible force to control at times, especially for the mourning young man desiring to revive the legacy of somebody he cared immensely about. Brotherly affection was the only familial connection Nathan truly possessed since his busy parents were hardly home. Abruptly, the vampire listened to the disrespectful tone, eyes widening in shock before narrowing into anger. He loathed the lieutenant, nobody spoke about his brother like that.
[break][break]
"FUCK YOU! DONOVAN HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BE HERE!" He screamed at him, pained by the callous words. "YOU CAN'T DO ANY BETTER, ASSHOLE! AT LEAST HE DIED PROTECTING PEOPLE! AT LEAST HE DIDN'T ACT LIKE A FUCKING PRICK LIKE YOU!"
[break][break]
Fists curled hard, nails digging deep into flesh, however, Nathan was seething with anger. Somebody had the AUDACITY to disrespect Donovan, and it was taking every fiber of his being to avoid throwing fists at the lieutenant.
Donovan couldn't help but feel prideful, standing before Nathan. Of course it was a struggle having to avoid showing such pride when he was supposed to be a bastard of a man. It would be easier to keep his distance if Nathan hated his guts, sooooooo it fueled him on his choice of words next. "Only after you graduate, until then, I'll start writing a list of chores you can do around here. Toilets being on the top of that list." He answered him in return, appearing convinced that Nathan would in fact fail, whether it proved to difficult or he flat out quits. He then disrespected himself in front of Nathan, knowing it likely would fuel rage. His attempt was to get Nathan fed up and on his way back home, not to defend him. Of course he would have to control that temper as to avoid getting in trouble in the near future, whether by fellow TRS agents or AP that decided to mock him. "Being me, earned me this rank, boy!" He answered him in return, finding it really strange to call him boy, when he knew his name to be Nathan. But until the paperwork went through he couldn't allow Nathan to know he well, knows it.
"And if you expect to survive, you HAVE TO CONTROL YOUR TEMPER." He answered in return, having gone from raising his voice to yelling. Nathan had closed his hands into a fist, digging nails. It wasn't difficult to notice because of how tight his fist was closed. Stop it, you need to calm down Nathan. This is for the best. I can't have you joining TRS, I can't have you risk your life. You need to live on. He thought to himself as he stared back at Nathan. "IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO GO BEYOND DONOVAN." He shouted, finding it weird talking about himself like this. He glanced towards the lady, pleased she had remained silent the whole time even though frankly she could report his action to the higher ups. "We wouldn't want you following in his footsteps and dying after all." He added, having raised his voice to show authority while attempting to intimidate Nathan in the process.
Determination devoured the disrespectful comments, each remark only increasing Nathan's iron resolve to succeed through the training program provided for hunters. The arrogant lieutenant evidently thought highly of himself, going lengths to irritate him merely because he was Donovan's younger brother. Defiantly, the vampire kept his gaze locked onto the callous lieutenant, quickly developing a deep loathing of the man. Obviously, this higher up was probably among the detestable because of his actions and hastily developed feelings for the newest recruit. Alas, Nathan was steadfast about enlisting into the TRS and successfully training to become a hunter. Peril would lurk around every corner, terrors and Assembly members attempting to murder him at every turn, but he refused to yield to those negative thoughts. Redemption for Donovan and their nanny was beyond important to Nathan, it was a necessity. The Assembly members were murders, horrible people who destroyed lives through killing people. Mournful emotions transformed into iron resolve, the vampire who once cried for accidentally sabotaging Donovan's mission and getting him killed becoming a determined recruit.
[break][break]
Failure was nonexistent, a notion never entering Nathan's mind because he would keep trying until he finally graduated and became a hunter. Somebody needed to play hero, change people's lives to avoid the intense pain of loss. Another angered growl rumbled out of Nathan's throat as the lieutenant stated the chores he would be given.
[break][break]
"I WON'T BE! BECAUSE I WILL KEEP TRYING UNTIL I BECOME A HUNTER AND YOU WON'T STOP ME!" He screamed, feeding the resolve he held.
[break][break]
Vexation increased the longer the lieutenant spoke, pain emitting from where his nails dug deep into his flesh. One horrible lieutenant would not defeat his resolve, thus Nathan stood firm, defiant, stubborn and unwavering in his decision to enlist. Controlling the temperament inside was difficult, but the vampire knew to punch a high-ranking official in the face would possibly get him tossed out. The shouted words and following remarks about following Donovan to his death failed to intimidate the young man. Immediately, his yellow-green eyes matched the lieutenant's gaze, albeit, with narrowed lids, determination and fearlessness glimmering in their hues.
[break][break]
"I WILL GO BEYOND DONOVAN IF THAT IS WHAT IT TAKES! I WILL BECOME A HUNTER AND YOU WON'T BE THE ASSHOLE WHO STOPS ME! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU FUCK ME UP, I AM NOT GIVING UP!" Nathan screamed back, releasing his fists, attempting to tame the anger inside. "Be happy I didn't hit you, dumbass!"
[break][break]
Determination conquered intimidation, Nathan stood firmly in front of the lieutenant wait for his papers to be processed. Anger proceeded to flow through his veins, however, the vampire was determined to prove himself to this lieutenant. If he wanted to consistently push him down, the young man would prove he could conquer any obstacle.
Donovan watched Nathan, impressed by his determination but at the same time frustrated at the effort it was taking to try and encourage Nathan to just quit the program. "Is that a challenge?" He asked in return, appearing encouraged that Nathan had said that he was determined to become a hunter and not even he could stop him. "Because this program is going to be tough to complete and throwing me into the mix will make it nearly impossible." He answered, completely sure of himself. You gave me an opening, brother. You really expect me not to take it when I'm thinking about your safety here? He thought to himself, as he continued staring back at Nathan. He had attempted to encourage Nathan to become discouraged and leave, but Nathan was proving as fueled as ever, making him curious on where the hell all this determination came from. I'd love to see you try, it will be a great honor. He thought to himself before attempting to shove that thought in the back of his mind. No you will not, I refuse to allow you in harms way just because you want to avenge me. He thought to himself, trying to think of what more he could say to attempt to sway Nathan's opinion in staying here.
"In training." He corrected, not planning on laying a finger on Nathan. And it won't be through your mentor either. I have other plans in store for you. He thought to himself before adding, "Sparring is the best way for training and letting out emotions so long as you don't allow it to get to your head in an attempt to kill, because even AP we want alive first if we can help it for the sake of questioning them. It is after all the only way we can take down Zeredah." He answered, stopping himself because he was acting easy on Nathan when he was supposed to be encouraging him to quit the program. "So if your just here for revenge, you can get out right now. We don't need people here that just want an excuse to kill." He answered, feeling upset at himself for being so harsh to Nathan on the subject. "You wanna hit me newbie?" He questioned, frankly believing he does deserve it for being so cruel to his baby brother. "That isn't going to get you very far, give me twenty push ups." He answered in return, determined as ever to appear intimidating so that Nathan would feel more encouraged to obey him.
Ceasing the rage flowing heavily in Nathan's veins was impossible as he defiantly stood against the callous lieutenant. The authoritative man's disrespectful attitude boiled the blood in the vampire's veins. Each word statement which escaped his arrogant, high-handed mouth increased the desire to split his lip and break his nose. Those remarks he stated about his brother were abhorrent, especially in the eyes of a person protected because of Donovan's sacrifice. Memories of his brother protecting him flashed through his mind, reminding him why exactly he needed to do this and succeed. Avenge Donovan and carry on the legacy cut short because of his interference. If he had just listened, Donovan would still be alive. Deterring Nathan from a goal that took years to finally accomplish was impossible. Determination consumed the young vampire as he stood against the lieutenant, yellow-green eyes glancing over his uniform to discover the asshole's name, Orville Reddenbacher. When inquired about it being a challenge, the vampire listened to his words, his steely resolve feeding arrogance about successfully completing the program despite Orville interference.
[break][break]
Eyes were narrowed when Nathan met the old man's, his gaze unwavering. If this old man wished to drag him through the dirt or push him beyond expected, then he would handle the consequences. Achieving full-fledged hunter status was more important than the suffering faced during training.
[break][break]
"We'll see about that because I'm not letting you win," he growled bitterly.
[break][break]
A stillness settled over Nathan as he refused to yield ground to the lieutenant, especially when he corrected and proceeded to speak. A scowl remained on the vampire's face, impart because he found Orville condescending, obnoxious and downright rude. There were plenty of actions the lieutenant accomplished that was entirely uncalled for, specifically the jeering towards him and his deceased brother. The importance of allowing Assembly members to live was mentioned, followed by being informed to leave should he be searching for revenge.
[break][break]
"I want to help people like my brother did!" He snapped immediately afterwards.
[break][break]
A glare settled onto Nathan's brow as he stared at Orville. This man was truly loathsome and difficult to handle, however, the vampire would not allow him to get in between him and his completion of training. Admittedly, it was extremely difficult not to clench his fists and wail on the irritating old man.
[break][break]
"It's hard not to," Nathan admitted in a grumble.
[break][break]
When requested to do push-ups, the vampire gave a defiant glare, however, he wanted to prove this idiot could not defeat him with basic push-ups. Thus he dropped down, hastily doing twenty without difficulty before standing. Upon rising from the ground, anybody could notice the irritated expression as he glared at the lieutenant, but his anger would not stop him from disobeying direct orders.
Donovan couldn't help but smirk when Nathan told him that they'd see about that because he wouldn't allow him to win. It seemed almost like old times, except instead of brothers, Nathan was the newbie and he was the bastard lieutenant. He had then listened to Nathan speak about how he wanted to help people just like his brother did. God...... have I really changed this much that I have to act this low around him? It is too late to stop right now. Until he figures out it is me, I'm going to have to keep this going for as long as it takes. He thought to himself before adding, "Good attitude, we don't take people who want only revenge here." He was quite serious, if Nathan wanted to be here only for revenge it could easily get him killed and he wasn't about to lose his baby brother to them. Donovan wasn't bothered by Nathan admitting that he wanted to hit him. Though he wanted to make sure that he'd be prepared for the consequences of thinking such things even if it was based off of anger. So he told him to give him twenty push up's. Knowing Nathan would either listen and do them, hopefully calming his nerve somewhat, or he would refuse which would give him even more to work with in trying to get him kicked out.
If Nathan didn't become a hunter, he believed he'd be much safer, since he wouldn't put himself out there. He watched Nathan drop down, giving him twenty push ups in the process. Exercising always helped me calm my nerves. He thought to himself as he looked back at Nathan, not saying anything right at the moment. "Consider this day one, newbie." He answered, turning away from Nathan he'd start walking away from him. Damn it, now what am I supposed to do. I don't want him joining TRS, this isn't the life I wanted for him. He thought to himself, slowly moving down the hall.
Vengeance was important for Nathan, however, inside he desired to make his brother's sacrifice worthy through becoming a powerful hunter. Despite the lieutenant's insistence on those seeking revenge being unnecessary additions, the green-haired vampire decided to remain. He lusted for the opportunity to gain retribution for the stupendous people who behaved similarly to actual parents. They were everything to Nathan, the pedestal of his precious world which crumbled the instant Donovan died. Since then, the vampire became a loner, unable to connect with those around him because of his untamed anger and unwillingness to forge relationships between himself and others. The yellow-green eyes of the new recruit remained narrowed in a glare, even when the lieutenant complimented him. Despite the compliment, he still considered Orville Redenbacher his worst enemy. The man treated him horrible and all he completed was signing the papers to be recruited into the TRS. Those desires for vengeance would be kept hidden, Nathan praying the battle against his brother's murderer would become violent enough to warrant justifying killing the man.
[break][break]
Obeying the lieutenant's commands was merely done to avoid punishment for refusing to listen. The hastily done push-ups were oddly calming, releasing the excess energy alongside the extreme anger pulsing through his veins. Once he rose from the carpeted ground, Nathan's eyes locked onto the lieutenant. The determination was not withering because of the elderly man's attitude. Before Orville turned away, the vampire's eyes managed to spot his unit number. Unit One, he hoped they decided to place him in two or three, just anywhere this bastard could not reach.
[break][break]
The soft words of the secretary interrupted Nathan's stare at the old lieutenant, "We will have everything sorted out by September 11th. When you come for your classes, you will be welcomed into the training center. There will be a listing posted in the main hallway to let you know which unit you are in and where you will go to receive your schedule."
[break][break]
The words were automatically stated, making it obvious the woman stated these words many times before. He glanced towards the woman, providing a nod of acknowledgement before heading to the main door. The fresh, autumn air was welcomed into his lungs, a deep inhale being taken before a smile broke onto his face. While unit one's lieutenant was unpleasant, Nathan knew he was another step closer to carrying on the work Donovan did for years.
[break][break]
--------
[break][break]
September 11th, the day where higher-ups convened once again and sorted new recruits into their units to hastily accomplish the TRS training program. Wasting time during the frightful war occurring around them was out of the question, therefore Nathan worked hard on preparing himself for the rigorous training. Standards needed to be fulfilled with complete excellence to avoid complaints or possibly death. Throughout those few days, the green-haired man trained hard to prepare himself for the training given to hunters; he even did personal research on terrors to assist in those studies. Uncharacteristically (and begrudgingly), Nathan roused himself from sleep during the early hours of the morning, the young man preparing himself for classes and to discover which unit he would be placed in. Under other circumstances, the vampire would have gladly slept in until noon as he usually did each morning. A quick breakfast was made by the servants as requested by Nathan. Thanks were provided when received his meal and hastily devoured it, the coppery tinges of the blood being evident in the food.
[break][break]
The masters of the Beckard manor, Nathan's parents, were still absent on a long business trip. Ultimately, it made signing up for the TRS and heading for his first days of training easier. The young vampire had no plans on informing his parents of his career choice. The pair would become complaintive, whining babies about his idiotic and fatal decision making in an overly-dramatic tone. After breakfast, Nathan went to his car and began driving to the TRS headquarters, specifically the training branch, earlier than most people would. He wanted to know which unit he would be placed in, especially since there was a 1/3 chance he would avoid Lieutenant Redenbacher and be placed into a unit that was not insufferable. At a steady, safe pace, Nathan arrived at the parking lot and parked his vehicle before exiting to enter the main entrance of the TRS building. He entered through heavy doors, eyes only briefly skimming over the plain hallways and possible people inside. They flitted to the sheet hung on a nearby billboard, a top label explaining the lists were alphabetized by the student's surname and divided based on division. As a result, he quickly scanned down the B's until finding Beckard, Nathaniel with a tiny square picture of his face to assist with recognition.

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!" Nathan shouted as a retort to the paper's words.

Beckard, Nathaniel -- Unit One, the single number he detested as a TRS unit was placed beside his name. An angered growl escaped the vampire's lips as he realized he would be forced to deal with Lieutenant Orville Redenbacher throughout his hunting career. What a wonderful discovery.
Donovan had found himself in a room with the higher up's, arguing his case for why Nathan had to be in his unit. Only some of them were aware of his real identification, making it easier to sway them into allowing Nathan into his unit. It was of great importance that he not break his hex, or admit that his real name was Donovan Beckard. Finally they had come to an agreement and he left, satisfied they had heeded to his words. He knew Nathan wouldn't likely be pleased, seeing as the first meeting had proved him to be a bastard, but that would mean allowing the chance to keep a closer eye on his brother. Besides, now that Nathan hated him, he'd likely refuse any form of bonding, making it easier to watch from afar instead of risking Nathan finding out who the hell he really was. The day arrived for the new recruits to see which unit they'd be in. He had been in his office doing paperwork, because he didn't want to miss the chance in seeing Nathan's face.
As the time ticked on, he finished the paperwork and slowly left his office, heading down the halls for a walk. Within a few hours, he was still walking around in a circle, clearly bored to death until stopping to see Nathan was at HQ looking at the billboard. He paused, listening as Nathan shouted at the paper's words. He couldn't help but smirk slightly as he watched Nathan from behind, waiting for him to notice that he wasn't alone anymore. If Nathan had a problem with the decision, he could always quit and go home. Seeing as Nathan had yet to acknowledge him, he spoke up. "Unsatisfied? Well you could always quit and go home." He answered, appearing to have a smug grin as he gave the suggestion. "Because now I really get to test your boundaries, strengths, weaknesses, everything." He answered as he stared down at him.
