Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
she was excited and nervous, but she wasn’t sure why. it wasn’t like this was her first time making muffins. she had gone to the store the night before to gather the last of the ingredients. it wasn’t much, just the blueberries and the treats for bosco. she didn’t have experience in making her own and the last thing she wanted was to make a bad batch. she gathered all her things and started with the dry ingredients first. making sure she was measuring the ingredients in the correct amounts. she made sure she had present the oven before she started with the mixing. it honestly wasn’t going to take too long to mix up the batter. if anything waiting for the muffins to bake would be the most time consuming part. she didn’t mind waiting, after all there were other things that she needed to get done.
she cleaned up her mess and started prepping where she was going to deliver the muffins in. she made sure to make plenty not only to take to orion, but so she could have leftovers for her brother and father. besides she was sure ten muffins would be more than enough for orion and his family. once the timer had gone off she brought the muffin tins out of the oven to cool. she cleaned herself up before she started to transfer the muffins over. once everything was packed and cleaned up, it was time to go on her way. she grabbed the bag filled with goodies, her purse and her phone before closing the door behind her. as she walked towards the bus stop. once on the bus she pulled out her phone and sent orion a text, saying she was on her way.
in around fifteen minutes she would be standing at his door. she stared out the window as she tried to calm her nerves. it wasn’t that big of a deal, she kept telling herself. it wasn’t so much about the muffins, she really couldn’t figure out why. she had been nervous that day they had bumped into each other, but that feeling soon left as when they started talking.
it was going to be fine and hopefully he enjoyed the muffins, his family too. she got off at her stop, it wouldn’t be that long of a walk before she reached their home. she double checked the address as she neared the home. she was at the right place, taking a small breath she knocked on the door.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Excitement and endless nervousness flowed heavily through Orion’s veins as he woke during the earlier hours of a pleasant weekend. Under most circumstances, the human never roused early when provided a day off, however, the day’s event called for an abrupt change in schedule. An attractive, young woman would be arriving with a delightful batch of blueberry muffins, and it manifested tension for Orion. Alas, the dark-haired, young man was unaware of the specific reason for his anxiousness towards Elysia coming over; the event was planned after all.
Yet, there was an underlining necessity to present himself as reasonable and to assure the house was tidied before Elysia's arrival. Quickly, Orion rummaged through his clothing, plucking several pieces of clothing from his dresser. From the shirts drawer, a black t-shirt was grabbed and thrown behind him, landing on the bed. The next drawer was rummaged through, Orion grabbing a pair of jeans and throwing them onto the bed. Only moments later the drawer was slammed shut, the police officer turning on a heel.
Long strides carried Orion to the bedside where he grabbed the black shirt, pulling the fabric over his head to cover his bare chest. Afterwards, he changed from his pyjama pants and into the bootcut jeans. They rested comfortably on Orion's waist, however, he hastily grabbed a belt and wrapped it around his waist. A simple dark gray belt was slid through the loops of the jeans before buckling it together. The silver clasp shone in the light but was shortly hidden beneath the black shirt as he carefully pulled it down.
Promptly, Orion walked to his computer desk, pulling his favoured red sweater from the chair. The warm piece of clothing was tugged over his shoulders, the front left unzipped. The dark-haired man left the room, heading to the bathroom without hesitation to tidy his hair and put deodorant on. When groomed, Orion escaped the washroom, his steel-blue eyes laying on his mother and aunt who were preparing to leave for the afternoon. While he adored his mother and aunt, Orion had quietly requested for them to have a ladies outing.
Farewells were exchanged, the women giggling as they exited the house for their special outing. They were more aware of Orion's feelings towards Elysia than the young man was. Years of experience granted familiarity with those attitudes and expressions, however, they refused to inform the youngest member of the Hollins family. The pair were amused by the dark-haired man's actions and decided they would allow him to realize his feelings himself. Once they left, a soft sigh escaped Orion's mouth as he glanced around the home, pleased by the cleanliness.
Steps were taken into the living room, Orion glancing over the back of the couch, a small smile stretching across his face when he found Bosco. The sweet St. Bernard appeared blissful, which delighted the police officer. He hoped when Elysia arrived, she would be able to greet his adorable dog. For a few moments, Orion watched Bosco, the man's dog being a positive influence in his life, thus Orion always appreciated his pet who assisted him through those troubling years. The dark-haired man straightened, nervously waiting and contemplating if he accomplished everything necessary after receiving the text.
Knock, knock, knock. The sound of somebody wrapping on the front door resulted in Orion stiffening as he realized who was finally here. A deep breath was taken as the police officer wrestled for composure and walked towards the door. It was strange that something like interacting with the ginger-haired beauty created endless nervousness, yet, he could handle tense situations when on the job. When he reached the doorway, Orion's hand slowly reached out, twisting the doorknob and finally opening the door with a bashful smile.
Beyond the threshold was Elysia Wilts, his steel-blue eyes discovering her heavenly beauty with a tin presumably filled with blueberry muffins. Briefly, his eyes glanced over her but soon glanced away bashfully.
"Hey... Elysia," Orion greeted slowly. "Come in."
The front door was opened wider, the dark-haired man allowing Elysia to enter the home with the delicious muffins. Inside his chest, Orion's heart was anxiously pounding because of the delightful woman's arrival. A broad smile stretched onto the human's face, the fluttering of his heart was an unexpected side-effect of the ginger-haired woman's arrival, but he did not despise it.

Bosco had crawled into the couch, having chosen to sleep here tonight. There were times when he slept in Orion's bedroom but there were others where he found another location to curl up in a ball at, this was one of those times. Orion seemed somewhat different, he knew that Orion's mother and aunt had thoughts of their own on the subject, having heard them talking about it. Orion was different, now there seemed to be a woman in his life, there were mixed feelings on the subject but he wanted Orion to be happy so he wouldn't get in his way on the subject. Footsteps could be heard and his ear twitched, having noticed but refusing to move from his spot. Oh how he wished to speak to Orion, tell him to just go for it. He couldn't help but believe that Orion would want the woman's affection and he was all for it. He believed Orion should go for it and see what happens. There was a knock on the door, then Orion had reached out to open the door for her before greeting Elysia. Her strong scent entered his nose and because he didn't recognize her, he couldn't help but feel slightly nervous, however, there were words to be shared here. He thought he was thinking it, unaware that his body was slowly shifting back to that of a human.
After going so long in his canine form, he had reached his limit long ago, but thoughts of wishing to speak had encouraged instinct to shift him back into his human form, having only lingered in his canine form because he had been determined and later forgot all about his human form. He moved to sit up, rubbing his eyes before looking towards Orion and Elysia. "You two look so cute together, you should give each other affection." He answered in somewhat of a whisper, having stayed silent since Orion had found him and brought him home with him. A few seconds, that was all it took for him to slowly peek around at himself to see that he wasn't a canine but a human boy, dressed in ragged clothes. If he wasn't panicked before, he couldn't help but feel it right now. Don't stare at me.... DON'T STARE AT ME.... He thought to himself, breathing faster before suddenly moving off of the couch, having failed to walk he had fallen onto all fours before crawling straight for Orion's bedroom before slipping under the bed to hide under it.
would it be weird if she wore a dress? before she had gone to bed she made sure her outfit was set. she didn’t want to waste time trying to decide what to where. though the thought had occurred to her many times, why was she fretting over what she was going to wear? it didn’t stop her from trying to pick something nice. it was just a muffin delivery, she really wasn’t expecting to stay over for too long. she didn’t want to be rude. despite him saying he wasn’t busy, he was more than likely just being nice. he seemed like the type that was always doing something. the less time she took up the better.
as she stood outside his door she was glad she had opted for pants. as cute as the dress was, it was not practical for this type of cold weather. she should have texted him that she was here? or maybe she was just making herself nervous. the door would open and it would be fine. she would be distracted by something else and hopefully not if her appearance was fine. she felt like she had left the house too late, despite arriving a minute or two early. clearly it was nerves, but why was she nervous. come to think of it, she had been a bit nervous that time they spoke. though the more they talked the more comfortable she felt.
she absentmindedly combed her hair with her fingers, tucking some strands behind her ears as the door opened and orion greeted her. she smiled at him.”hey, how are you?”asking as she stepped inside. she wiped her feet as she continued to speak.”i wasn’t sure how many to bring. i hope i brought enough.”she told him with another smile as she handed him the container of goodies. though before she could turned heard something and turned toward the direction of the sound.”what was that?”
[attr="class","carvetext"]A mild anxiety entered Orion upon opening the threshold and revealing the attractive, ginger-haired woman. A sheepish smile twitched onto the dark-haired man's face as he briefly gazed away before locking his eyes onto Elysia. There was something radiant about her beauty, everything seemingly lighting up in Orion's steel-blue eyes. The clothing she wore surprised Orion, the wondrous woman's body highlighted by a dress. The choice outlined her feminine figure, making his eyes briefly wander before returning to Elysia's face.
In preparation for Elysia's arrival, Orion had worried over his attire, fearful he would fail to appear pleasant. Physically, the police officer possessed an attractive, muscular body, however, he desired to create a charming presentation for the ginger-haired woman. The reasons behind these desires were unknown, but Orion allowed his thoughts to conquer. There was something special about Elysia, this "something" being unexplainable, yet, filled with splendour. These certain emotions never detected the notion of the dress being ill-favourable for this weather.
Nervously, Orion observed as Elysia's fingers tucked elegant locks of ginger hair behind her ear. He allowed his former schoomate through the threshold before closing the door softly behind her.
"I'm good... Happy to have a day off, you know?" Orion answered, attempting small talk. "And I am sure you brought enough."
A smile remained stretched across his face, Orion's positive emotions increasing the longer he spoke with Elysia. The container was handed over, the human smoothly sliding it onto the nearby kitchen counter. Only moments later did a voice narrowly reach Orion's ears, prompting his steel-blue eyes to glance over to the couch. Stationed on the couch was a small, blond boy. Eyes widened as the police officer witnessed the stranger fall from the couch and crawl towards his bedroom. The location the ragged-clothed child was originally where the St. Bernard was laying...
Elysia's words were heard, however, Orion remained silent as the truth smashed into him similar to a sledgehammer. The st. bernard who he tended to and appreciate the company of was a supernatural creature.
"... Bosco?" Orion mumbled.
Wordless, he rushed through the living room, heading to his bedroom where the blond-haired boy left. Shock stunted his ability to communicate, his thoughts locked directly onto the family member who revealed himself as the one thing he despised... Conflicting emotions swirled, however, the police officer's uncertaintities failed to manifest hesitation as he entered his room and glanced around, searching for Bosco.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco hadn't noticed Orion looking in his direction, having already moved from the couch to flee into the bedroom. He had heard Elysia's question but ignored it, determined as ever to make it under Orion's bed to hide. Orion's words could be heard clear across the house, his hearing allowing him to notice it despite being in his human form. Of course it hadn't stopped him from fleeing into the bedroom before adjusting to lay on his stomach before crawling under the bed so that he'd be stationed exactly center under it. Footsteps could be heard, the strong scent of Orion. It was clear to Bosco that Orion had followed him into the bedroom but he couldn't figure out the reason why, unless it was because Orion planned on kicking him out.
I'm a dog... I'm not this.... This is a nightmare. I want to wake up from this. He thought to himself, shivering the more he thought about this reality, the more he feared it. His breathing increased at the idea of being thrown out on the streets. He had grown used to being here, this was his home. Orion was his master. Oh how he didn't want to leave it but now it was all ruined. Even as he panicked, slow memories started coming back as he recalled first meeting Orion had how he had once known to be human but feared Orion figuring him out, having shifted into his canine form.
one minute she was handing him the muffins and the next he was gone. okay it didn't happen that fast, but his reaction was. she had stood there for a few seconds trying to process what she had witnessed. she had been quite surprised something or more like someone had ran off.
she had not been aware they had been laying on the couch. she had a bit too distracted by someone else. plus being in a new house, she didn't want to seem like she was nosy. she hadn't planned on staying long. after all they had simply talked about her dropping off the muffins and possibly meeting bosco.
it's not that she had expected them to be alone in the house. it was rather quiet. had they alone in the house? not too long after orion had taken off, she hesitated to follow him, but in the end she tried to catch up to him. it was clearly a new environment to her, as she moved slowly."orion?"she called out softly, before spotting him. she opened her mouth to speak, but it seemed like he was so focused on whoever that had been. she moved closer as curiosity got the best of her. she peered inside, watching how things would unfold.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Concern was expressed on Orion's face as he hurried through the house, heading towards his bedroom in search of the canine turned human. Throughout his life, Bosco was considered one of Orion's best friends, somebody the man could rely on. Through the cruelness of the world and malicious supernatural creatures, the st. bernard willingly offered himself as an ally. The creature was tender, a dog who constantly stood beside him without hesitation as the loyal animal he was expected to be. It was a welcomed experience throughout Orion's years.
Hastily, the police officer rounded the corner into his room, steel-blue eyes widened as he glanced around. He searched for one person, the mysterious blond who abruptly and unexpectedly replaced his dog. The dark-haired man was uncertain about what he would accomplish when he finally found Bosco, however, he required the opportunity to speak with the individual who assumed the position of companion. Immediately, Orion began surveying the room, eyes searching the ground for signs of his precious dog. Feelings were conflicted, confusing Orion throughout his search.
His eyes moved constantly as he glanced around the room, looking around his bed, checking areas around the furniture. He needed to find Bosco, however, in his human form, Orion was uncertain if he would pick the regular hiding spot. A soft voice called his name, prompting the dark-haired man to turn. He flinched upon witnessing Elysia at the bedroom's threshold.
"I saw him run in here... I don't think he is a dog," Orion explained slowly and quietly.
Everything about this meeting for blueberry muffins was going awry, which was frightening. He feared to push Elysia away because of the abrupt fiasco, however, he needed to find Bosco. After providing an answer, Orion crouched onto his knees, pressing against the floor to glance under the bed. There was a human-like child with a mess of blond hair and ruined clothes.
"Bosco... Come out," Orion requested.
The blond boy was formerly his dog, therefore, the RCMP officer attempted to use his mastery to persuade him out. Alas, the human was concerned Bosco would cease listening because of the revelation of him being a shifter.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco heard Orion walk into the bedroom, clearly searching for him. A voice had called out to Orion, it wasn't long before Orion had mentioned him running in here. Meanwhile he shivered more as his breathing increased. I'm a dog. I'm a dog. I'm a dog. He thought to himself as he panicked over the sudden change of not being just a dog. He failed to notice Orion on his knees looking under the bed, too busy breathing quickly from the sudden stress. I'm a dog. I'm a dog. I'm a dog. He thought to himself, as if the thoughts would encourage a sudden shift, however he remained a human. Orion told him to come out, it wasn't that he wanted to refuse, but fear kept him from moving from his spot as was his breathing quickening. If it hadn't been heard before, it would be now, as his breaths became deeper, still fast. He had been on his stomach, the deep breathing was becoming difficult, so he turned onto his side, shivering harder from the stress of becoming a human. "I'm a dog..." He mumbled, very much believing it. His breathing increasing even more on the verge of having a panic attack.
so much for being nervous about him liking the muffins she had made him. it was fine though, she welcomed the distraction. she just hoped things didn't turn for the worse. everything was happening rather quickly. she had managed to follow him despite him taking off rather quickly. calling out to him, only when he responded did she move closer."he's not a dog."elysia repeated the statement.
she watched as orion go down on his knees calling out to bosco. who seemed to find a hiding spot under his bed. she was positive everyone was a bit tense. orion was taking this surprisingly well. she did the same and sat on her knees."you're not in trouble dear. orion is just surprised."she said softly."come out when you're ready."she hoped she wasn't overstepping by talking to bosco as well. she could only imagine how terrifying this was for bosco.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Emotions were conflicting as Orion tried his best to assist his st. bernard through the difficult circumstance. Everything happened quickly enough to stun the black-haired man, the actions he took seemingly manual because of the intense contradicting feelings. He supposed the situations which happened daily in his career assisted in allowing him to keep moving despite the unexpected surprise. With his occupation, Orion was used to unexpected changes and had learned to handle them respectfully.
While inside there was contradiction, confusion and concern, he maintained the expression of calmness. He needed to given the frightening occurrences happening around him on the regular or for these peculiar moments. As Orion laid against the floor, he gazed under the bed, discovering the small, blond child. Hidden beneath the bed, his precious dog turned human remained, stating how he was a dog. The dark-haired man lifted a brow, confused by Bosco's insistence of being a dog despite shifting into a human creature.
Species could not be conclusively decided because of the amount of animal-shifting creatures, but Orion knew Bosco was among them.
"What do you mean you're a dog? You're a boy. Now come out, that isn't a good place for you," Orion stated, his voice a tad hard.
Only moments later did Elysia's soft voice each his ears, the police officer slowly sitting up. His steel-blue eyes locked on her, surprised by her assistance. A sigh escaped his lips, Orion laying his elbow on the bed to wait for the boy to scurry out from beneath his bed. The law enforcement officer hardly knew how to handle the situation, thus, a different approach was potentially in order.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco listened as Elysia repeated Orion's words, making him fear the worst. They saw him like this, he wasn't dreaming and to make it worse, he was becoming aware of this fact. He wasn't happy with his situation, he wasn't remain a canine and live a happy life with Orion. Of course everything was ruined the moment he had shifted into his human form. Time slowly passed as memories came back, reminding him of his reason for being in his canine form so long and how he was in fact human. Not that Orion needed to know he was able to remember, surely he'd be kicked out for sure. Elysia was speaking softly to him but he still found himself nervous around her, but not as nervous as he felt about Orion figuring out that he wasn't a canine but a shifter.
He knew exactly how he felt on the subject and despite wanting to accept any and all consequences from Orion, he couldn't bring himself to come out, knowing that as soon as those consequences were dished out, he'd likely be homeless because Orion wouldn't want him around anymore. The thoughts hurt, he breathed faster as his worries started overwhelming him. Orion asked his question, but he wasn't able to answer, having started to breath too fast. It was difficult to speak while his breathing increased. He coughed, breathing increasing by each passing second. This feeling, it was familiar, it reminded him of the episodes he had prior to being taken to the vet.
she wasn't sure what else orion was feeling, but she saw the surprised look on his face. who wouldn't be surprised. thinking your dog was simply a dog. emotions were running high and she wasn't sure what she could do to help. bosco was scared and within reason. had she been in his situation she would feel the same.
would it be better if they talked to him under the bed? orion was the one closest to bosco. she could hear how bosco was breathing, it was the only thing that could be heard when it was silent in the room. then the coughing started. were they just making things worse?
would talking help distract him?"bosco i'm just like you and orion's still my friend."she kept her soft tone of voice. well that wasn't a complete lie. sure she didn't turn into a dog, but in a way they were both different. they were not like orion. she was starting to get a bit worried. at this point she wasn't sure if just talking was going to be enough.
[attr="class","carvetext"]The outlying problems displayed to Orion made it impossible to think of immediate solutions. Everything shifted abruptly, without warning or pause to allow the dark-haired a chance to ponder his situation. Stress piled on the officer's shoulders as he leaned against the bed frame, waiting for the blond shifter to leave from beneath his bed. These circumstances were ill-favourable since squeezing beneath the bed was difficult, however, not impossible if Orion tried hard enough to crawl beneath the cramped space.
A frustrated sigh escaped the human's lips as he struggled to handle the circumstances. He needed to speak to the child beneath his bed. For years, Orion had genuinely believed Bosco was an st. bernard, therefore, conflicting emotions wreaked havoc upon his mental state. In the silent room, the sounds of rapid breathing broke the silence followed by coughing. The noises made Orion stiffen as a realization arrived, hitting him with the force of a hammer. Beneath his bed, the young, blond boy was having a panic attack, something common with anxiety disorders.
Without hesitation, Orion returned to the floor, peeking beneath the bed. "Bosco?!"
Moments later, the black-haired man pressed flat against the carpeted floor, accomplishing an army crawl, narrowly squeezing beneath the bed. Once under the cramped space, there was little room for the police officer, however, he pressed forward with some determination. Closer, his crawling brought him to his beloved, former dog, Orion reaching out a hand to grab Bosco's arm.
"It's okay, breath," Orion murmured, rubbing his arm.
Originally, the young man would rub his dog's back to soothe those anxieties, however, options were limited and Orion was struggling to move beneath the bed. Gradually, he attempted to get closer, hoping to gain a better position to "pet" Bosco in hopes it would calm the tensions.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco listened as Elysia claimed to be just like him, though he couldn't help but feel uneasy. It wasn't her fault, he felt that way about a lot of new people. His breathing continued to increase, coughing as he struggled to calm himself. Orion's sudden question went unnoticed as he coughed more, breathing increasing ever so slightly. He failed to notice Orion pressed against the floor, moving under the bed. He shivered slightly when Orion had started rubbing his arm. You're going to die if you stay under the bed. He thought to himself, undecided on if being out from under the bed would be safer than remaining under it. With him remaining in his spot, Orion had moved closer to him in the meantime.
