Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
she really hoped everything would be worked out. bosco seemed so young to be out wandering the streets. she wasn't intentionally ignoring bosco when she had come in. she figured he needed space and time to process everything that had happened. also what was with her just touching orion like that? could she embarrass herself any further. it was fine, what's done is done. she was at the door when she turned to smile."alright, no worries if you don't."she knew how busy orion could get with his job and now this whole situation.
elysia finally heard the noises coming from the front door. she wondered who arrived. whoever it was, it would probably be best if she wasn't found in orion's room. she had turned to leave when bosco's question made her stop."i think so. did you want to try it?"
[attr="class","carvetext"]Redness still painted Orion's cheeks alongside the bridge of his nose from the actions Elysia accomplished. A simple bump on the forehead became an action summoner, heralding an interaction which left his heart fluttering wildly inside his chest. There were plenty of heart-racing moments because of Orion's life, all resulted from adrenaline pumping through his veins or fear. Alas, this reaction differed from the previous altercations that sent his heart into a frenzy. He still remembered the tender softness of her hands carefully touching the wounded area...
There was a subtle awkwardness to the experience, however, Orion admittedly enjoyed every precious second of the interaction. Unexplainable, every action and the accordingly reaction lacked a proper reasoning inside the young human's mind. Despite this, his heart proceeded to flutter as the redness of his face slowly faded back to its regular pigment. When she turned to smile at him, the symptoms of his unknown ailment began to manifest again. A slight reddening of his face followed by a subtle heat as blood pooled and a series of palpitations in his chest.
He liked seeing her smile... It was beautiful and pleasant... When Bosco spoke, Orion stiffened from being startled, his steel-blue eyes glancing over at the young shifter slowly uncurling. Beyond the room, the voices proceeded to converse, one acknowledging the container on the counter. The officer flinched from hearing them... how would he explain to them his dog was a person?
"Sounds like mom and auntie are home, Bosco. How about we go get you settled with your hot chocolate and tell them what happened? It will be okay, I promise," he informed the young boy.
Slowly, Orion rose from the carpet, standing at his full height before leaning down towards the boy formerly his dog. From there, he offered the blond a hand while giving him a soft smile.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco had asked if he could have some hot chocolate, before he got the chance to answer he heard Orion mention his mother and aunt being home and nodded his head to him. When Orion stood, a hand was extended to him and he slowly reached out to take it before pulling himself to his feet. He was wobbly before losing his balance, finding himself falling towards the ground despite Orion holding onto his hand. He had never learned how to walk, crawling was even a challenge even though he had managed to do it earlier in his rush to get away from Elysia and Orion.
she was getting a little nervous. what was she going to say as she tried to casually exit. clearly she would say she had brought muffins that she had baked herself for them to try. she continued to feel like she shouldn't be here, in this room. she didn't want a misunderstanding to occur. yet she remained by the door.
she watched orion help bosco up. though the poor kid was so shaky that within a few seconds he was on the floor once more. she was glad that he was interested in trying the hot chocolate. she smiled softly as she moved closer to bosco. she extended her hand towards him."can i help too?"
[attr="class","carvetext"]Thoughts of Bosco's capabilities in seemingly mundane human tasks never crossed Orion's mind when he offered the blond a hand. For a majority of the shifter's life, he lived as a St. Bernard rather than a regular person. Their hands connected and without a second thought, Orion helped in coaxing the blond to his feet with the attentions of leading him out. He thought they would walk together, the human leading the way in the pursuit to grant his aunt and mother an explanations. Unfortunately, the unforeseen difficulties arrived shortly after he hauled Bosco to his feet.
The young boy wobbled when attempting to use his human legs, shortly loosing balance. The police officer kept a firm grip on Bosco's hand, gradually trying to steady his former pet. His eyes met with the blond's briefly, a frown forming on Orion's face as he realized the situation. Bosco never lived as a human, everything he knew was fixated on being a dog. Regular education and walking were forgotten and replaced with 'if you sit, you get a treat'. Everything a regular boy should know would need to be learned again...
The dark-haired man was about to scoop Bosco into his arms and carry him, however, a pleasant voice offered to assist with walking. His steel-blue eyes glanced over as Elysia offered a hand to help with steadying the blond. Red developed on Orion's cheeks, a small smile forming on his lips.
"You might as well take it, you need to learn how to walk at some point, Bosco," Orion quietly coaxed.
He hoped the shifter would take Elysia's hand and accept the help in learning how to walk. Otherwise, Orion would be required to pick him up and carry him from the room. He held no problems with either option, but one involved some well-needed learning.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco looked between Elysia and Orion, unsure on what he'd want to do. On the one hand, he wanted to try some hot chocolate, on the other, he had no idea on how to stand on two feet and walk. Elysia had reached out her hand, asking if she could help him out too. He backed against Orion, not because of fear of her but because he honestly didn't want to fall again. His listened to Orion's words but shook his head no, much rather giving up the hot chocolate instead of going through this learning curve. "I don't want to fall..." He mumbled, clearly refusing to learn how to walk at this time.
she smiled softly at bosco and nodded at his hesitation. she withdrew her hand. she wasn't going to for him."you know, that's the only way you'll learn. of course it might take some time, but you can take it slow."she told him with a nod. she wondered how it would work for bosco. clearly he was older so maybe it wouldn't take him that long? she figured it all depended on if he practiced or not. which raised another question. how did he turn human? it seemed like it was his first time, which clearly startled everyone. was he going to be able to turn back?
she had a sense of what he was going through. except it was a bit in reverse. the first time she had changed into a cat she kept quiet and hidden. she wasn't sure what was going on. she had no idea why she had changed. eventually she managed to settle down and she ended back in her original form. she brushed hair that had fallen in her face behind her hair."falling can be scary, but you're not alone. orion will more than likely be there to help you up."she told him with a smile.
[attr="class","carvetext"]The reality of the situation had entered Orion's mind quickly, prompting his reactions. The young, blond boy was originally his precious St. Bernard he cared through for a majority of his life. While a wariness settled in the pit of the RCMP officer's stomach, he shoved it aside. For years, he despised supernatural species after the brutal injuries his mother was forced to endure. The hellhound father he had was a cruel man, somebody who merely cared about his well-being rather than his young son and devoted wife.
Yet, a new wonder entered Orion's mind as he worked with Elysia to help Bosco. Were only hell species the despicable ones? The ones who committed endless atrocities because of the strength in their abilities? Based on the magic being displayed by Bosco, the young boy was some type of shifter meanwhile he was aware Elysia was a familiar. Then again, undead and other earth species could prove problematic... Furthermore, there were cases of twisted heaven species believing their actions to be divine rather than murderous...
At this moment, Orion's opinions were difficult to state as he watched the young woman who made his heart flutter and the dog he cherished. He listened as she supported Bosco, a sweetness to her voice as she encouraged him to try again. The officer kept hold of the blond's hand while Elysia spoke. A gentle smile crawled onto his lips as he listened.
"It will be okay, buddy. We gotta do this together, alright, Bosco?" He said softly to his former dog.
If Bosco was beyond scared to try walking again, then the law-enforcement officer would pick him up. Chances were, his aunt and mother were wondering where the St. Bernard and his owner were.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco listened to Elysia and Orion's words, it sounded like to him that both wanted him to learn how to walk but he was doing just fine crawling or being in his canine form. It was very upsetting that he wasn't able to shift back into that form. "I changed my mind... I'll stay... here." He mumbled, slowly adjusting as an attempt to make Orion lose his grip on his wrist so that he could land on his butt and remain in the bedroom. Trying hot chocolate sounded like it would be good, but learning how to walk, the fear of falling was too great, making it unworth it to venture from the bedroom.
elysia smiled softly. he wasn't going to be forced to do something he wasn't ready for. he was still a child so it was only natural. it would take sometime till he built his confidence up."i'd still would like you to try the hot chocolate. you don't have to walk there if you don't want."
she didn't want to leave them like this, but she didn't feel like there was anything else she could do to help. after all this whole thing effected orion and his family more than it did her."i also made muffins. if you ask nicely i think orion will share with you."she said with a small laugh.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Coaxing Bosco into walking was proving to have some difficulties from the former dog's fears. It would be a required task because of the conditions and social norms of modern society. Unless somebody was in animal form, they would regularly walk on two legs rather than hands and knees. Then again, how would somebody react discovering Bosco pretended to be a regular St. Bernard for years? There were few cases Orion heard of about animal shifters hiding as their shift. The notion genuinely worried Orion about what would happen to his former dog, however, he first needed to get him out of his room.
Beyond the room, the sounds of rustling bags crept through the door of Orion's room as his mother and aunt brought in a few groceries. They were organizing everything they brought home, meaning they were standing in the kitchen, likely confused by the container of blueberry muffins. There was discussion followed by his aunt calling his name down the hallways. It was probable his aunt and mother desired his assistance unloading groceries, they always did; perhaps it was among his duties as the man of the household.
The dark-haired man's gaze returned to Bosco, listening as the young blond decided he no longer wanted to walk. A frown nearly touched Orion's face until he heard Elysia state the former dog could still try the hot chocolate and have a blueberry muffin.
"You don't have to walk, just hold still," Orion said as he slowly kneeled.
The police officer scooped up the adolescent, his strong frame allowing him an excellent grip on Bosco. When the blond was a St. Bernard, Orion would sometimes pick him up to carefully tease him. A firm grip was attempted before the ravenette stood at his full height with plans to carry his dog out of the bedroom.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco listened to Elysia, feeling somewhat comforted at the idea of not having to walk to get there. "Really?" He asked, glancing towards Orion, feeling hopeful despite not asking as he was instructed. Bosco looked at Orion, feeling confused when he was told he wouldn't have to walk but would be required to hold still. "Why?" He mumbled before Orion had picked him up in his arms. He had done this multiple times when he was in his canine form, now, he was doing it as a human child. As soon as they exited the room, he had seen Orion's mother and aunt, "Your still my Master, right?" He asked, fearful that Orion would tell him no, unaware of the amount of trouble they'd be in should Orion remain his master when he wasn't just some canine.
elysia smiled and nodded."of course. i'm not going to make you work for it. it's a treat so i want you to try it."it wasn't too long after that orion picked up him up and they walked out of his room. for a moment she had forgotten orion's mother and aunt were in the kitchen. bosco seemed to the main focus. she cleared her throat once they reached the kitchen.
now that most of his family was here. she figured that they would have tons to talk about. she didn't just want to stand there awkwardly. it wasn't any of her business. not that she wouldn't help, but it should be talked among themselves."hello again."elysia greeted the ladies with a smile once she had set eyes on them.
[attr="class","carvetext"]A time would arrive where Orion could dedicate precious minutes teaching Bosco to walk, however, not today. The young blond entered an anxiety-inducing situation and the dark-haired man hoped to ease any tension. Sadly, the circumstances were stressful, especially after the illusion of Bosco being a dog was completely shattered. Their relationship would change, similar to the family dynamic of the Hollins family. There would be another son in the household, at least, Orion assumed given Bosco's age.
A smile curled onto the dark-haired man's face as he nodded at Bosco. Making the struggling shifter walk felt wrong especially when there was plenty more to explain to his mother and aunt. There was only a single prayer, that his mother and aunt would take the peculiar situation well. Nobody would have expected the St. Bernard to suddenly become a young boy. Slowly, the police officer leaned closer to pull Bosco into his arms. Alas, he was forced to pause when he heard Bosco inquire as to why he was required to hold still.
"I'm picking you up. I don't want to drop you," Orion explained quietly.
Afterwards, Orion picked up Bosco, holding the young boy close to assure he would not be dropped. Once his arms were secured around the blond, he carried him out of the room. From there, he heard the shifter's question, causing Orion to pause. If he was no longer Bosco's master, then what were they? Shortly, a smile played onto the dark-haired man's lips as an answer was discovered.
"No, we're brothers. That is something better," the officer assured with a grin.
As they exited, Erika and Melody's eyes turned wide, flitting between Orion, Elysia and the mysterious boy. The trio paused before chuckling, believing the adolescent could be Elysia's brother or something similar. The human listened as Elysia greeted them, the pair smiling at her.
"Hello, are you and your brother heading home?" Orion's mother asked, believing Bosco was a sibling of Elysia's.
The smile on Orion's face broke into a flinch... The situation would not be easily explained, especially with everybody considering Bosco a dog. Silence consumed the young man as he attempted to find the words to explain the peculiar circumstances.
[newclass=".carvetext"]font-family:Source Sans Pro;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;padding:15px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;[/newclass][newclass=".carvecredit"]width:475px;font-size:12px;text-align:right;margin-left:5px;[/newclass]
Bosco listened as Elysia made her comment before asking Orion why he had to stay still. When it was explained he followed instructions. He then asked his question, fear of what Orion would say, feeling somewhat relieved to hear the brother's comment but at the same time unsure what that meant for master and dog relationship. They excited the room to see Orion's mother and aunt in the kitchen. He was silent as he listened to the question, noticing Orion flinch. I'm not her brother... He thought to himself before answering. "I'm Bosco." He admitted, not realizing how that would affect Orion's mother and aunt. "I want muffins... and hot chocolate..." He mumbled, unsure if he'd get them now, despite Elysia saying he could.
