Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
sometimes the enemy is locked within your own mind
Evening arrived unexpectedly, time seemingly drifted slow throughout the morning hours of an early autumn day. A chilling breeze rustled through the branches above, sending shivers down the spines of anybody who failed to properly dress. Sparkling in the sky were several stars dotting a black canvas and near-filled moon which required a few extra days to grow. In the Lorsette suburbs, a fancy party was occurring as wealthy men and women enjoyed themselves for the evening. Naturally, they hired people to handle the security throughout the festivities and while Avery under most circumstances tended to a single individual, he nonetheless accepted the task. The shift was shorter, happening through the evening. His nephew would be spending his time with Robyn, the lycanthrope praying the adopted child could keep their little brother out of trouble. Unfortunately, Xavier had the tendency to draw inappropriate images on the wall. While his nephew was an incredible artist, he enjoyed drawing those images on the walls of their home.
Advocating the child’s creative freedoms was immensely difficult when Avery arrived home to find his walls covered in the days drawing. Whenever these incidents occur, the uncle always enlisted Xavier's help with cleaning duties in a desperate attempt to assure he would resist the temptation. Either way, his nephew maintained his horrendous tendency to enter troublesome situations, alas, Avery supposed children would accomplish those actions on occasion. Gradually, break time had arrived for Avery's shift, the other man dressed in formal wear insisting he took a break despite his shift being shorter, thus, he decided to venture from the close-quarter hallways and walk around the block. Nothing appeared to be going array with the evening and a brief survey of the surrounding areas would allow the bodyguard to assess any trouble. Thus he informed his coworkers for the evening and exited the extravagant manor, walking through the elegant gates. The lavish exterior made it obvious to anybody that the family was particularly wealthy, especially considering they were in an upscale neighbourhood.
Briefly, Avery glanced over his shoulder at the ravishing manor behind him. The front yard stretched into lovely garden, well-trimmed shrubbery and maintained flower beds manifesting a delightful entrance for anybody walking to the doorstep. The home itself was composed of a lighter colour-pallet, mostly near-white beiges and soft golden accents. Light poured through the windows, spilling onto the front lawn and allowing people to notice the marvellous gardening work. Meanwhile, the entire complex was surrounded by a wrought iron fence with two heavy gates. Guards were stationed at the front, Avery providing them a greeting nod which was reciprocated. The guards were dressed tight formal wear, black suit coats and ties constructing against a white dress shirt. Their black dress pants and slacks made breaks in the dark shades rare. In their ears were devices meant to inform them if assistance was required or to ask for help.
“I’m heading out for a bit, I will be back,” Avery explained in his usual low emotion-lacking tone.
The pair nodded, keeping their arms crossed as they stood intimidatingly in front of the gate. Slowly, Avery crossed the threshold and headed down the sidewalk, hands hiding away in the pockets of his suit coat. The streets of Lorsette were empty, a majority of citizens hiding in their homes to avoid lurking terrors. The creatures of Zeredah’s cause were a frightful notion for anybody not affiliated with the Assembly of Phantoms. Despite the possibility of those individuals wandering through the streets of Lorsette, Avery proceeded down the block. Only a few moments in did his hand reach up, adjusting the white collar of his dress shirt alongside the black tie secured around his neck. The slight movement manifested some comfort as Avery walked. While he missed the warmth given by his long trench coat, the people who hired his services held strict clothing requirements for the evening. Considering their social status, Avery could hardly blame the hosts for these specifications. Thankfully, his preference to appear semi-professional made dressing in formal wear an easy task.
A brisk breeze rustled Avery’s clothing as he continued down the dull sidewalks of Lorsette. Street lights hovered above, showering down some sense of visibility in the darkness of nightfall. Each step, the lycanthrope’s powerful senses search, waiting for potential danger to come his way.
why was she even out here? not that she didn't like the cool air. she wanted to be home. a thought that would of never crossed her mind when she first got here. not her actual home, where her parents resided, but the one she stayed at here. she wasn't living alone and she was watched like a hawk. though could she really blame them? she did try to run away a couple of times. in her defense who wouldn't. especially when you are stuck finding someone you despise. just thinking about him made her mad. this whole stupid situation was his fault.
yet, she wouldn't be out here. it was a limited freedom, but freedom nonetheless. right now she was doing what she pleased. well, the main objective was to find him. which was proving a little difficult. of course, it wasn't like she was trying extremely hard either. she had lost track of time. how many days had passed and yet no sign of him. honestly what were they going to do if they didn't find him. she didn't recall the group setting a time limit.
the only reason she was brought here was because they had thought they had found him. yet where was he? this was nothing, but a waste of time. the group should move on and pick a different leader. this was pointless and unnecessary. clearly he was wasn't fit to be their leader. who just up and leaves everyone behind? a coward. someone that is selfish.
she looked at her phone sending a reply once in a while. someone had spotted him in the area and what were they doing. trying to find him? he was long gone by now. had their been an actual chase maybe they would of caught him. yet they split up and she was suppose to search this area. what a waste of a beautiful night. there could be a million different things she could be doing with her time right now. though honestly all she wanted to do is curl up on the sofa with a nice cup of hot chocolate. though honestly anything warm sounded good right now. not expecting to be out this long she had left her gloves at home. though stuffing them into the pockets of her jacket would suffice for now. it wasn't like it was freezing out, but she was smart to dress warm. opting to wear pants and a long sleeve top oppose to the cute dress she knew wasn't really appropriate attire one wears when they are out on a hunt.
what if she headed back home? how long would it take them to notice she was gone? there was nothing out here. there was so sense in wasting her time. she rolled her eyes at the current text and decided not to respond. she stuffed the phone into her pocket and turned around. decided to head home for the night. it wasn't too long after that she thought she felt something or someone near."i'm just heading home. i.."she said stopping mid sentence when she turned around to discover no one behind her. "that wasn't creepy at all."she sighed and continued walking, only to slowly pick up her pace when she started hearing footsteps. now she was just imagining all this right? or was the wind playing tricks on her? whatever the case she was in no mood to find out and the fast walking turned into running.

Cold, early autumn air nipped at Avery's face as he walked down the bland, well-kept sidewalks of the wealthier housing district. A mild stinging entered the solemn-faced man's cheeks as his dark-green eye observing his surroundings. Senses were primed, listening, smelling and watching for any signs of danger or suspicion which could ruin his evening or the occupants of the lavish party. Alas, everything appeared calm on a pleasant autumn eve. Thus, Avery proceeded to walk around the block without any worries entering his mind. Nobody appeared worrisome about the day's events, at least according to the radio. With hands hidden in his pocket, the male lycanthrope quietly observing his surroundings, the tenseness in his figure merely manifested from concerns of the night. Terrors lurked during the evening, thus Avery remained alert as he wandered around the block. Quietly, the bodyguard continued down the sidewalk, unfrightened by the notion of a possible terror attack or criminal activity on him. Years of training allowed Avery to easily defend himself, thus, he was confident he would be alright.
Everything changed abruptly when Avery's delicate ears heard the sounds of quickly-paced step. The one-eyed man glanced up, curious, and promptly noticed the woman sprinting around the corner of the block. Worry flashed in the male lycanthrope's eyes as he centered himself on the sidewalk, hands up to display he was not a threat. Clearly, this woman was running from something, thus Avery decided it was his duty to assure she would be alright.
"Hey, miss?! Are you alright?" Avery called.
The brown-haired man hoped the woman would slow her pace to explain why exactly she was running. As somebody who worked in security, Avery considered himself a shield to citizens, even if they only cared about their own objectives. Being a bodyguard was mostly enjoyed because of his capability in defending others, furthermore, fighting appeared to be among the few things he was capable. Senses remained alert as Avery awaited his answer, just in case he would be required to defend this young brunette.
She didn’t look back, like a fool she let her imagination run wild. Never stopping once to see if she really was running from nothing. She hated this and this wasn’t even her idea. Why she was being forced to search for him. Why couldn’t he be brought to her. It's why they were out here in the first place. She was somehow supposed to talk him into coming back. What was his reason for leaving in the first place? It always made her wonder why? He seemed to enjoy all the attention he got. All these thoughts continued to run through her mind as she continued running.
The bodyguard that had been sent with her seemed more like a nuisance and of course was nothing more than a glorified babysitter. That was only her opinion. They were doing their job, making sure she stayed on task and didn’t end up running away like gordon had before. It wasn’t fair if he got to shirk his responsibilities why couldn’t she? She wouldn’t even be in this mess if it was for him. The day she finds him or she was sure as hell going to give him a piece of her mind.
Her thoughts were interrupted as she caught sight of someone up a head. How long had she been running? She had only thought of escaping the area, but she wasn’t sure where she was heading. She was glad to see another person on the street. Would they help? She slowed down as she got closer to him latching on to his arm. She shook her head as she waited to catch her breath. after a few moments she was able to form words.”I don't know. I heard something, it was probably nothing, but I didn't stop to look and i thought it was following me....”she said rather fast after she caught her breath. It was probably nothing and she just embarrassed herself.”don’t laugh, especially if it was nothing.”she said with a pout as she turned her face away.

Wandering through the streets during the evening was always a dangerous action. Terrors could be anywhere, same with Assembly members or general criminals lurking for a wealthy location or individual to mug. Thus witnessing anybody hastily fleeing down the sidewalk was hardly a surprise to Avery. Horrible people could lurk anywhere without a doubt and that concept was taught in elementary school in the form of malicious vampires who pretended to desire friendship. They locked him in those small spaces, damaged his mind through the merciless, unnecessary torment and expected him to accept and move on from what occurred. The breeze kept ruffling his clothing as Avery attempted to wave the female brunette to a halt, hoping she would cease her high-speed running. Fortunately, he appeared successful as the young woman slowed her pace, however, continued to step closer. Only moments later did she captured his arm in a tight grip, breathing heavily as she caught her breath. The male lycanthrope's brow lifted as his dark green eyes fixated on the distressed woman.
The magical persuasion of his charmed bracelette allowed Avery to easily handle the close proximity, however, the dark-haired man was bothered by closed in spaces and massive crowds opposed to a single person clinging to his arm. Moments later she spoke, Avery silently listening to each word, comprehending the woes of one frightful noise bringing about concern. No laughter escaped his lips as he gazed in the direction she ran from.
"On a late evening like this, it is dangerous to be out alone. You were smart running if you weren't prepared for a fight. It's better than getting caught up in something you don't want to be," Avery responded in a somber tone.
These were serious matters, even if the pursuer was conjured up by an over-active imagination reacting to the spooky atmosphere of an autumn evening. One's safety was import, therefore, Avery considered the brunette's choices understandable given the possible direness of the situation. Minutes passed as the bodyguard's eyes lingered on the empty sidewalk beyond before being satisfied with his survey and returning her eyes to the short-haired woman.
"It appears everything is alright. If you're still scared, I can give you a ride home when I am done work," the bodyguard offered quietly. "It is dangerous at night, so it would be safer."
While his choice of transportation was nothing comfortable on these types of cold evenings, it managed to complete the task at hand. Cars and anything closed in was despised by the dark-haired man, therefore, he favoured a motorcycle or anything open. Occasionally, he even walked despite his home existing somewhat in the wilderness of Lorsette. Either way, he wished to assist the young woman or at least, offer a less paranoia-inducing method home.
She knew better than to reach for people and it wasn’t because he was a stranger. No that wasn’t what worried her. It was that the act of clinging onto someone that made her look weak. She felt like she couldn’t defend herself from whatever was chasing her. If anything was actually behind her in the first place. She wouldn’t of panicked like that. She should have stood her ground and checked. As much as she played the damsel in distress it wasn’t something she strived to be. She should of continued running, though had she ran past him would he called out? Or would he just thought she was out for a run? The way she had been running was pretty hard to believe it was nothing more than a late night run. Besides who in their right mind would be out at this time running. Not to mention she was clearly not dressed the part.
She had finally slowed her breathing, taking one last breath to regain her composure. She nodded at his words. Though honestly she was never expecting a fight. Though that didn’t mean that something out there wasn’t ready to start one.“Oh sorry.”she apologized as she let go of his arm. It probably wasn’t help her situation to be all clingy and annoying. As she dropped his arm she slowly moved behind him, making sure she wasn’t invading his personal space like before.
She peeked behind him waiting to see if anything was chasing her. As if this situation wasn’t embarrassing enough. She almost wished something had been chasing her so she didn’t look so ridiculous. She sighed and shook her head at her own stupidity. Oh, as soon as she got home she was going to give them a piece of her mind. She wasn’t stepping foot outside till they had solid proof of his whereabouts.
She smiled softly as he offered her a ride home.”not that I don't appreciate it, but it’s alright you’re busy and I don't want to keep you. I’ll be fine now i’ll just call a ride.”she told him as she took her gloves off and stuffed them into her pockets. She reached into the back pocket of her jeans to retrieve her phone, but all she did was pat her pockets. Of course she had to drop that stupid device. She had thought she had stuffed it back. What else could go wrong tonight?”anyways, thanks again.”she told him as she waved and started heading back the way she had been running. She was not going to involve him any further in this.

Alert, Avery's senses were prepared to detect anything unusual about their surroundings. Even if the brunette claimed there was potentially nothing dangerous in the area, the male lycanthrope decided to remain on alert for their safety. As a bodyguard, Avery was expected to protect himself when necessary, however, he would not stand by and allow the frightened woman to perish should somebody truly be following her down those sidewalks.
The manner which the short-haired woman clung to his arm suggested genuine fear, thus Avery was willing to believe the potential of somebody hiding in the shadows. The concerning situation eventually shifted, the male's sensitive ears detecting a change in the female stranger's breathing. An apology left the woman's lips as she finally gained the courage to release his arm, granting Avery some freedom. The dark-haired man's eyes remained locked on the woman, emotion difficult to discern from his stony face; he was never an expressive man.
In his forest green gaze, there was always a guardedness evident in his eyes. Negative experiences left scars on his mind and heart, therefore, he never revealed his cards in a single glance. Quietly, he listened to the brunette's words, hiding any clues to his concerns over her safety. Perhaps the lycanthrope was aloof and cynical, however, he lacked the definition of heartless. People held their motives and objective, alas, he learned to tolerate the thought in hopes of defending them from the similar circumstances which harmed him years ago.
There was a pause of silence as the woman waved and retreated the way she previously ran from. The patrol around the block was in a similar direction.
"Wait," he began, approaching her again. "I was heading the same way anyways, we might as well walk together until your ride arrives or our paths part."
While the bodyguard could not follow her the entire length home to assure her safety, he decided escorting her briefly would be something he could accomplish to assist her. Furthermore, if there was an enemy lurking in the darkness, he could handle the situation. Theoretically, the noises she heard could potential be a risk for the wealthy party the bodyguard was expected to defend.
she had managed to convince him that she was fine now. she wished she hadn't dragged him into this stupid situation. even if he wasn't saying it to her face she felt like he was still worried. it was only natural when someone comes running towards you completely terrified and seconds later she was fine. brushing it off like nothing happened, which is exactly what had happened. though she would protest that it hadn't been a few seconds it only took her a couple of minutes to regain her composure.
she thanked him and started walking away. if she was still in his line of sight, she wasn't going to start looking for her phone now, it would be a dead give away that she still didn't have a way home. how many steps had she taken before he had called out to her once more. she cursed silently and turned around to face him.”okay, sure.”she waited for him to catch up, not that there was much distance between them.
she stayed quiet for a few debating whether or not to start a conversation and fill her mind with something other than what had transpired before hand. It was definitely in her top ten of most embarrassing things.”so, what brings you out here? if you don’t mind me asking. i mean clearly you weren't here at the right time just to save me.”she said with small laugh. clearly luck was not in her favor. it was non-existent at this point. how was she going to look for her phone? he gave her the answer. when they paths lead them into different directions. surely by then they would come looking for her. she stuck her hands into the pockets of her jacket as they walked. she needed to calm down, clearly taking this seriously. it was fine, sooner or later they would have to part ways.”i’m aurora by the way.”she says giving a late introduction.

Under most circumstances, Avery would allow people to accomplish what they wished, however, considering he would be heading the same direction as the mysterious young woman, there would be no harm in accompanying her for a ways. Assuring the woman's safety could be done conveniently without hindering his plans to survey the area around the block. The manor's safety was his top priority since the family hired him, but there was certainly no harm in escorting a young lady. Besides, merely abandoning the brunette without assuring she will be safe did not sit well in his head.
Once he managed to catch up, his pace slowed to match hers when they proceeded to walk down the sidewalk. He walked beside the young brunette, his hands plunging into the warm depths of his trench coat as they strolled down the concrete together. Quietly, Avery walked alongside the short-haired woman. The bodyguard was never a talker, thus he maintained silence as they continued down these sidewalks. As they moved, the male lycanthrope remained alert, his senses assuring there was no danger in the immediate area unless they were quiet or cloaked.
As they continued, the woman inquired about his reason for being out here, Avery promptly glancing over at the female brunette. Despite her quiet laugh, the male lycanthrope never laughed in return even with the existence of a playful joke; he proved to not be expressive.
"I'm a bodyguard, I was hired to help out with the protection at a manor in the area, however, I am on break... but I felt restless so I decided to patrol the block for suspicious activity," Avery explained calmly. "And what brings you out on this evening? If I may ask."
The woman was proving to be polite, even providing the opportunity to refuse to answer should he not wish to. Alas, there was no harm in granting the stranger an explanation for his presence in the area. He was accomplishing the occupation he was hired to, nothing more, nothing less. Only moments later did the short-haired brunette provide her name, thus, Avery decided to reciprocate.
"My name is Avery," he said before pausing to add, "It is nice to meet you."
There was little emotion in his words, however, he decided to stay civilized and polite with the woman. She had recently fled from an unknown "threat", which motivated Avery to remain kind. Unfortunately, the lycanthrope was uncertain if he could give adequate conversation support. Thus, the bodyguard stayed silent, allowing the young, female brunette to lead the conversation.
how many jokes had failed her now? she knew she wasn’t the funniest person in the world, but come on that should have gotten at least a smile or a pity laugh. she would of taken a pity laugh over silence. it just made her feel like she was trying to hard. she wanted to say something about it, here she was trying to lighten the mood and he was still on high alert. yet she kept her mouth shut. she didn’t want to be rude, considering he had gone out of his way to not avoid her when she had come running like was escaping death. or maybe that was just part of his persona, whatever the case she was going to stop her attempt at lame jokes.
as they walked aurora tried to not make it too obvious that she was looking for her phone. if it didn’t turn up she make them go find it. after all it was their fault she was in this mess in the first place, she thought with a frown. before turning her attention back to the subject at hand. her lame joke and him telling her what he was doing out here. she smiled to herself.”i could see that. you’re the type that can’t seem to relax. always on the move or doing something to keep busy.”
not that it was a bad thing, but sometimes it was good to have fun. though now she was thinking maybe she shouldn’t have said that. well it was too late now to take it back. oh great what was she going to say that wouldn’t make her seem suspicious. she wasn’t going to tell him her whole life story. oh yes she’s out here looking for that stupid man that decided to leave them high and dry. if he didn’t think she was weird he would now.”no i don’t mind.”she said after a few seconds. though it wasn’t a complete lie.”i was out for a walk.”she said quietly before deciding to elaborate a little more.”autumn is my favorite season, i love seeing the leaves change.”it wasn’t a complete lie. though it sounded like it was. why wasn’t see walking in the park there were more trees there? why this time of night. she just hoped he didn’t pick up on that. she didn’t want to cause him any more trouble. she smiled when he introduced himself.”you don’t have to lie. i know i can be a handful and we've only meet like what five minutes ago.”there she went again with her lame jokes. she laughs once more.”sorry, i’ll stop clearly i'm bad at trying to make you laugh or you’re too good at keeping a serious expression. probably both.”she said with another smile.

Solemn expressions were something people frequently witnessed on Avery's countenance. It was difficult to make the lycanthrope laugh, however, he was not bothered by the jokes, he simply lacked motivation to laugh. Tickling Avery’s funny bone was a difficult objective to accomplish. Years of cruel jokes kept the one-eyed lycanthrope guarded under most circumstances. Alas, the bodyguard's instincts informed him to remain alert, especially given the circumstances provided.
Earlier, the young woman had been sprinting down the sidewalk and furthermore, he was tasked with checking for suspicious individuals. Ultimately, Avery felt required to maintain caution with each taken step, his forest green eyes surveying the surrounding walkways. Threats were unseen, whether they lurked amidst the darkened corners, hidden from his view was another question as the pair moved. The sounds of their shoes walking over pavement echoed in Avery's ears, his enhanced senses allowing him to detect noises from greater distances as well.
The mysterious brunette smiled at him, stating an observation that connected with his chosen occupation. The blunt honesty was oddly welcomed as the male lycanthrope knew the truth behind the words which some would find insulting.
"Moreso I feel obliged to stay alert. The only way to find a threat is to pay attention to your surroundings," Avery answered in his usual serious tone. "I'm sorry if it isn't good for joking around."
The final words held the slightest tinge of emotion, however, the trace was narrowly noticeable. Somebody with keen hearing could perhaps detect the softer undertones of his voice. The question was reciprocated and answered by the short-haired woman, Avery listened to Aurora's answer. She claimed to be out for a stroll in the pleasant autumn air because she favoured the season, and the male lycanthrope would believe her for the time being. There were some inconsistencies, however, there were magnificent yards with trees, thus he thought she wished to view the beautiful homes and trees.
"I see... I recommend walking during the day instead. It would be safer," Avery explained.
Gradually, the pair walked down the sidewalk, Avery quietly following the young woman. The brown-haired man side glanced at Aurora, noticing a smile stretched across her face. Further jokes were made before the woman stated she would cease because of his lack of reaction. A soft frown touched Avery's lips as his gaze focused on Aurora.
"You can make them if you want. I just... don't laugh often," Avery slowly responded.
They proceeded down the walkways together, the one-eyed bodyguard glancing around as they moved. Despite having company, Avery's occupation remained at the forefront of the man's mind.
she probably should of continued to elaborate. she knew it didn’t sound exactly nice, but it wasn’t her intention to be rude. she wasn’t sure why she was so flustered by her own comment, clearly he was unaffected by it.”not that that’s a bad thing. i mean one should know their limitations…”she should of kept her mouth shut, seeing as he didn’t seem to be offended by her earlier comment.
"and now you're making me feel bad. don't apologize."she said with a shake of her head. she knew she wasn't the greatest at defusing the tension or whatever. so she made fun of the situation. probably not the best coping technique, but it was working for her so far. well, perhaps not at this moment."it's fine, as you said before you're still on the job, despite being on break."she found it amusing and just solidify her assumption. he couldn't switch work mode off.
he was on to her wasn't he? this was starting to become too much trouble. she should of just kept running past him. no, all she had to do now was walking. eventually their time would come to an end."yes, but that's so boring. at night everything is a little more adventurous."she said with a nod. yes it was a little more adventurous and any sudden sounds of footsteps would scare her."it's quieter at night. not too many distractions."she continued. why did it seem like she was always rambling off explanations."i don't always walk alone."she added with a smile. that wasn't a lie, for the most part they were always around her.
well that was a pleasant surprise. she would take it though."that's fine, i excel at making things fairly awkward."she laughed softly as she once again proceeded to joke. now it was just becoming a habit."i know my limits, and i don't want to annoy you anymore than i already have. don't try to convince me otherwise."she said as she stopped to fix her shoe. really it was more of an excuse to search for her phone."so what are you patrolling? i mean you don't look like a cop to me. not that you couldn't be, you totally have that demeanor."she asked while she finished messing with her shoes.

The male lycanthrope's solemn demeanour was difficult to breach as he quietly walked alongside the young brunette. Rarely could people manage to spark emotions in the man who lacked expressiveness. There were people faulted for the phlegmatic attitude, the vampires who bullied him throughout his high school life. It made the one-eyed man guarded, unable to release the notion of potentially being attacked at any moment. Scars covered his mind, manifesting a requirement to protect himself from the possibility of being harmed again.
A subtle emotion of surprise breached Avery's countenance when the young woman stated was not a "bad thing". A majority of people would insist Avery was being a Debby Downer or a Stick in The Mud. Thus, listening to a unique reaction was refreshing for the male lycanthrope. A slight calmness claimed Avery, his footsteps softer as they moved together. Furthermore, the young woman proceeded, stating he was not required to apologize in this situation. This woman's attitude was somewhat pleasant, Avery appreciating her kinder response to his behaviour.
"Thank you for your understanding," Avery answered tonelessly.
Quietly, Avery listened to the brunette woman's reason for being out during the later hours of the evening. An eyebrow was raised at her explanation, however, he promptly shrugged it off. He agreed with the words she stated, mostly because she enjoyed the nightfall as well. The stars, the calmness and quietness made the price of coldness and fear worth the sacrifice.
"I understand. I like the night as well. It's pleasant, peaceful usually," the lycanthrope explained, the slightest touch of joy touching his voice.
Strolling down the sidewalk alongside Aurora was interesting, however, something Avery could appreciate. Her company was tolerable, going lengths to be considered a little pleasant. She proceeded to laugh, meanwhile, the male lycanthrope continued to show little emotion. Despite not minding her company, Avery still rarely cracked a chuckle at jokes. When she mentioned being annoying the one-eyed man provided her with a shrug.
"You're not annoying," he assured, albeit, with a lacking in expressed emotion.
When the woman attempted to fix her shoe, Avery ceased his movement, granting her the opportunity to fix it. He stated he would walk alongside her until they parted and going ahead would make the objective difficult or downright impossible. As she fixed her shoe, another question left the woman's lips aimed at the reason behind his patrolling. The question's answer was met with hesitance as Avery chose her words carefully.
"I'm a bodyguard, I was hired to help with security," Avery answered, giving minimal information.
He wished to provide her an answer, however, felt required to keep everything vague. The last thing the male brunette desired was to create issues by giving information to a person who could still be considered a stranger. There were few things Avery knew about Aurora, therefore, he remained cautious.
ssh smiled softly as he offered her a word of thanks."of course."she was just being honest. it was like she was apologizing for her behavior. then again she had been hadn't she. which was rare occurrence. though it wasn't like she was going to be rude. she didn't have a reason to be. he had been nothing, but helpful.
she laughed softly."yes, it usually is quiet."even now she was making joke of herself disturbing the silence. after all the street had been quiet until she got scared."this is probably not the best place to go for a walk. too many lights. the forest is a better place, plus the view of the stars is better."
honestly she hadn't not been expecting that. if anything she was positive he would of agreed with her statement."look at you sounding all charming, you'd make a girl blush."she said with a wink."well, i'm glad i'm not annoying you."
she had quickly stopped to fix her shoe, though in reality she was scanning for her phone. had she been smart she should of picked the most flashy case imaginable. though honestly had she been smart she wouldn't of dropped it in the first place. whatever it was necessary. she could come find it once he headed back to his actual job.
which she eventually asked about after standing up. not that she was deeply interested. she was just making conversation."really? interesting i was guessing you were a cop or something."she told him with a nod. which in a way was similar."how long are you on break. please don't make me keep you."

Their steps proceeded down the concrete sidewalks, the soft sounds of their shoes colliding with the ground echoing through the dark night. A limited array of stars shone through the skies above, the city lights making them difficult to see. The entire scene appeared similar to the many nights before it, however, it failed to ease the nerves of the alert bodyguard, therefore, his eyes proceeded to accomplish steady sweeps of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, in the dangerous streets of Lorsette, these beautiful nights could not be enjoyed for their elegance.
When his forest green eyes returned to Aurora, he discovered a smile stretched across her lips. It was something soft, pleasant to witness because of thoughts of his treacherous occupation. There were moments where Avery was granted the privilege to observe a soft smile. A weak smile was returned, brief and merely lasting a few seconds before disappearing as though it never existed initially. Whenever the male lycanthrope managed to muster a smile, it was usually faint and short-lived. Viewing a grin from the bodyguard was a rarity, and anybody who knew him for a few moments noticed.
The woman agreed with his remarks on the evening being quieter before adding her enjoyment of the forested areas. As a fellow admirer of nature's magnificent beauty, Avery could understand her opinion.
"The wilderness is a great place. I would agree with you on it being better then the city... however," a sigh created a brief pause, "the Assembly had made it dangerous too."
Peril lurked in Calico Forest, the effects of the Assembly of Phantoms making it difficult to safely enjoy nature's offers. His claustrophobia made the wonderful world of nature a splendid, open plain which promoted feelings of peace. Alas, thoughts of nature summoned a sense of calmness to Avery's mind. The male lycanthrope's expression shifted to a subtle surprise when Aurora mentioned him being a charmer... It was something unexpected for somebody who displayed a phlegmatic attitude and a lack of expressiveness towards others.
The man with forest-green eyes shrugged at the remark, uncertain how to respond to being provided with those types of labels; he never thought he would even be called a charmer. When Aurora needed to fix her shoe, Avery ceased movement, granting her the opportunity to fix it without having to catch up. Once she finished fixing her shoe, the walk down the sidewalk began again. The conversation started again, fixated around his occupation. He nodded when she asked 'Really' and listened as she proceeded, evening inquiring about his break.
"I had half an hour, but they know I'm patrolling around the block. Besides, I can hurry back if I need to," he explained calmly.
As somebody with enhanced speed, Avery was hardly concerned about escorting the short-haired woman for quite a distance. Returning to the manor would not be difficult because of his abilities, thus he proceeded with walking beside her with hardly a care.
