There was silence as they returned to the manor Avery originally came from. Lights poured over the yard from the main house, making it clear there were some festivities happening inside. Poking from the stone pillars of the wrought iron fence were a pair of lanterns which slightly illuminated the faces of the guards standing outside. Portions of their facial features were obscured by the shadows surrounding them currently. Nonetheless, Avery managed to notice their grim, serious expressions as they regarded the approaching pair.
The one-eyed man would not question their cautious actions. It was peculiar for a bodyguard to leave only to return with a young woman whom they considered a stranger. They carefully watched as Aurora and Avery approached, eyes trained on them as they drew closer to the guards. During their approach, the male lycanthrope inquired if Aurora wished to wait inside for her ride to arrive. While convincing the guards that her intentions were nothing sinister could be a little difficult, there would be warmth and safety inside the building.
Alas, the woman stated her ride would not be long, therefore, she would wait outside. The male lycanthrope glanced at her, forest green eye locking before giving her a nod.
"I understand. I will let the gate guards know you are waiting for a ride," Avery stated as they approached.
The distance between them and the pair of guards were closed with a few more steps. The gate guards looked between Avery and Aurora, clearly expecting an explanation from the bodyguard.
"I found her while doing my rounds. She got a little spooked, so she will just be waiting for her ride here," Avery explained to the guards. "She won't be any trouble and if she causes you issues, I will take responsibility."
The guards listened to the explanation, briefly analyzing Avery then Aurora before proceeded to survey the area. Nothing seemed awry, thus they gave a nod of approval before moving to allow Avery entrance.
"Be safe, Miss Aurora. Goodnight," Avery said in farewell.
With those words, he left the sidewalk to head down the walkway to return to the manor. The bodyguard's hands were hidden inside his pockets as he returned to the home, prepared to work the remainder of the evening.
