avery reeves tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance Impart to his lycanthrope genes, Avery is a rather tall man, possessing a height of 6’4”, although, he remains rather short for his species. This is believe to be the result of the pack his parents were apart of not having as powerful of a gene for height. Despite his age, Avery is well-toned and strong, with a muscular build. In order to maintain this, he is prone to exercising frequently and eating a healthy diet, although, due to his lycanthrope ties he is more prone to eating various meats. He has a fair complexion despite spending plenty of time outdoors. As a result of his occupation, Avery has a variety of scars across his skin, but frequently loses track of how many. Under most circumstances, he keeps his arms wrapped in bandages due to the frequency of his scars out of concern of possibly frightening somebody because of how common they are. Across his back, chest and abdomen are several small scars from work related injuries or general accidents around the home. The most significant of his scars is the horizontal one on his left eye which is covered by an eyepatch. There is a patch of brown hair which covers Avery’s head, thick as a result of his species. His hair is a darker shade, groomed to be parted on the left side and tidied to avoid anybody assuming he is unprofessional. On evening with upcoming full moons, his hair is known to take on a more dishevelled appearance as a result. A pleasant dark green is the colour of Avery’s eyes, although, one would appear duller should it be viewed. After receiving a devastating injury to his left eye, Avery is unable to see through it and thus wears a black eyepatch with three silver dots in a triangular shape in the centre. There are several lines on his face created from his age, making it evident he is not immortal like a majority of species. He has high set cheekbones and a slightly broader chin. On the corners of his mouth are two canines which are slightly longer than an average person’s, although, these are only evident when he smiles or opens his mouth. Dark colours are an evident preference a majority of people notice when they meet Avery. Under most circumstances, he wears a large, black trench coat with silver buttons which reaches just above his ankles. Beneath he may wear a white dress shirt to maintain a professional appearance, the high collar oftentimes poking out of the coat’s neck. He oftentimes wears black pants and boots, making him appear dark and drab in comparison to other people. During warm days, Avery will decide to avoid wearing to coat to not overheat, instead opting for a white dress shirt and a pair of black pants. Around his wrist is a specialized charm designed to assist with his claustrophobia, although, he is prone to avoiding small spaces out of habit. The charm mostly decreases the effects of the symptoms, but does not change Avery’s tolerance for small spaces. Under most circumstances, he wears this charm for work, but takes it off during home hours because of the wards around his home. Both his wolf and beast form sport dark brown pelts, similar to his hair and dark green eyes. When in wolf form, Avery is larger than an average wolf, making his figure rather imposing, his pelt being a solid brown. While in wolf form, it is recorded that he is faster at running than an average wolf. In beast form, Avery becomes a lot taller than his current height, making him extremely intimidating, especially given the monstrous appearance of this form. He is able to stand on his two legs and his nails are replaced by razor-sharp claws. He appears as a wolfish monster, with sharp teeth and covered in thick brown fur. While in this form, Avery is notable stronger than in his other forms. personality
abilities Enhanced Strength -- Advanced The ability to access strength beyond that of a normal human being, allowing for the user to accomplish incredible things. Years of rigorously training his strength has allowed Avery to become quite proud of his capabilities. Due to intense exercise and hard work, Avery is even capable of overpowering those who share the ability. This has numerous effects on what Avery can accomplish, even going length to provide the man with a frightening throw speed. He is capable of lifting heavier objects with ease, even knocking them over with a simple shove. Unfortunately, age has made Avery weaker than opposed to when he was in his prime, thus somebody younger and skillful could manage to overpower him. Furthermore, his ability can be compromised from excessive use of particular muscles, rendering Avery immensely sore. During these sore moments, his abilities half in power. The moon also affects the strength of the ability, new moons making him extremely weak while full moons allow the power to flourish. Enhanced Speed -- Intermediate This ability allows for the user to access incredible degrees of speed, making them faster than an average human being. Similar to a majority of lycanthropes, Avery is fast, however, he is not as talented with his speed in compared to his strength. Unfortunately, he finds difficulty in suddenly slowing down to avoid crashing into something or somebody. Ultimately, there is little use for enhance speed for Avery unless he is going down a straight run. Compared to other individuals with enhanced speed can reach higher speeds than Avery because of his failures in it. Rather than being used long-term, Avery’s enhanced speed tends to work better in short spurts, working as enhanced reflexes opposed to full-blown enhanced speed. Unlike his enhanced strength, Avery’s speed relies heavily on his energy, thus overuse can exhaust or even fainting should it become extreme. The moon does effect this ability, making the ability lower during new moons. Wolf/Beast Shifting -- Advanced An ability common for lycanthropes which allows the user to transform into two different forms, however, these forms are affected by the phasing of the moon. These phases can dictate what forms the user if capable of accessing, the beast form being inaccessible during new moons. Avery has excellent control over his shifting, smooth changing from wolf, to beast and back to human. These forms arrive with their own strengths, his wolf easily being the fastest and simplest to access. Meanwhile, his beast form is stronger than average and is capable of hitting devastating blows. These forms both have a wolf-like appearance, although, tend to be rather large. His wolf form is larger than that of an average wolf, making the lycanthrope genes more evident. When it comes to his beast form, Avery grows taller than his 6’4” height, making him an imposing figure. Despite his control, Avery oftentimes changes on full moons and becomes more restless around these times. He will change during the evening and will wake up in his human form. During stressful situation, Avery’s animalistic instincts can suddenly take over and result in dangerous outbursts. Naturals: Enhanced Endurance, Enhanced Senses backstory Trigger Warning: Bullying, abuse (mental & physical) Never being a pair for packs, from what Avery knew his parents only belonged to pack before they turned 18 and declared independence. They were always loner types, preferring to remain outside of the basic pack laws and rituals. Explorers prior to marriage, they worked in jobs that required heavy amounts travel until Janette, his mother, became pregnant with Avery. It resulted in them deciding to settle in Stephenville, Newfoundland where they started quiet family life. They were happy when they first settled in Stephenville and became happier when their son was born. Although, they had originally believed that their child would be born a girl due an accident made by the ultrasound doctor. Despite his parents considering the name more feminine, they decided to stick with the name Avery since it was a unisex name. Years were spent happily with his parents, Avery finding joy in life and was a happy child for about 7 years until his parents moved to Lorsette, Newfoundland. At first, the young boy was overzealous to meet his new classmates and hopefully future friends, but it was misplaced. The first few weeks were wonderful, Avery befriended some older boys who were vampires and who insisted they would all be the best of friends. Although, this never held any truth. One day while playing with the older boys, the ball they had been having fun with bounced into a small shack. They dared Avery to go fetch the ball, and wanted to impress his older friends, the boy did just that. Instead of appearing like a brave kid, the door slammed shut behind him and was locked. Avery screamed and begged to be released from his prison, but the school bell rang and the kids went inside and left Avery there. They told the teacher that Avery’s parents had suddenly picked him up from school because of an emergency. The teacher, although skeptical, believed them and Avery was locked in the shed for the entire school day. When his parents went to pick him up from school, there was much concern since they could not find their son. The confusion only continued when they approached the teacher, asking where their son was. It was shortly realized the boys may have lied, but they had already left the school. They began searching for Avery, his parents finding him when they heard him crying. Once the door was open and his parents spoke, Avery rushed towards them and hugged them. He was taken to the nurse to check for any injuries before his parents brought him home. However, they were yet to be aware of the real damage. As time went on, Avery seemed to avoid small spaces, asking his parents to get things from closet that weren't in plain sight with the statement that he could not find it. Although odd, his parents never thought anything of it. A few months later on a cold winter day there was indoor recess. Most of the kids went down to the gym well some remained in the classroom. Avery was one of the few who decided to stay in the classroom along with the vampire kids. At first, everything was fine and was running smoothly. That was until the supervising teacher stepped out for a moment and the vampire kids approached Avery. They were aware how upset the young boy had gotten after being locked in the shed, thus they devised a new plan. They dragged Avery towards a storage closet, all the kids being too afraid to save the poor boy. He was shortly forced inside with the door slamming behind him. Immediately, Avery began hitting the door, begging to be let out in a choking sob of the voice. He was not released until the teacher returned and demanded the kids to let him out. Once out, the teacher was comforted Avery, gently rubbing his back. However, he was upset and kept crying well the teacher kept attempting to comfort him. It was not long until Avery's parents were called about the incident and the teachers were forced to keep Avery separated from the vampire bullies. Unfortunately, there were still mental scars from the occasion. The change was something his parents noticed rather quickly since Avery would always ask them to get things from his closet. They, at first, merely thought that this was their son’s way to get some extra attention. That was until one day when they tried to convince him to help put groceries away, but the child refused. Eventually, his father took his hand and began leading him there, insisting it would be alright, but the instant Avery was close to the pantry’s door he slipped from his father’s grip. He ran towards his mother clinging to her and crying, begging his parents not to make him go into the tiny space that was the pantry. After the peculiar incident, Avery’s parents decided to take their son to a psychologist for further analysis on the behaviour. There was extensive testing, Avery’s parents working hard to avoid triggering the frightful emotions which occurred when the pantry door closed. Days passed until the results arrived and it was believed Avery possessed claustrophobia, all believing to have began when he was accidentally locked in one of the sheds at school. They insisted on having more appointments with Avery and furthermore that he was taught methods to handle his claustrophobia. Charms were used extensively to assist with the symptoms, but their son still suffered. Frequently, he refused to enter small spaces, absolutely terrified of being locked inside without escape. His parents were cautious, slowly trying to show the young child there was nothing to fear inside the close walls, however, he refused to heed their words. Windows and doors were oftentimes kept open whenever it could be warranted, the young boy finding difficulty coping with his affliction. In desperation, his parents got wards set around the house filled with powerful magic which finally assisted in easing their son when he remained at home. Naturally, the teachers were notified of Avery’s phobia, resulting in slight changes as emergency numbers were added to the list. They were concerns about potential risks, thus the teachers were prone to placing Avery near the door for comfort reasons. There were times where Avery would be required to leave for appointments to discuss and assist with attempting to alleviate concerns over his fears. These were long sessions, mostly involving conversation over coping methods and check progress. The parents were constantly worried about their young son, wishing these fears could disappear. They tended to dote on their son afterwards, attempting desperately to make their son feel better from the horrible occurrences. As time proceeded, there were few improvements to the young boy, his temperament changing. The bullying never ceased, Avery becoming more withdrawn and untrustworthy around his peers as he aged. Around the age of 13, the bullying turned worst when a teacher briefly left to photocopy some papers, a pair of arms grabbed him, the young boy struggling in response. The pair of vampires were stronger than the single lycanthrope who struggled and screamed while another student rushed to lock the door. Initially, Avery was clueless about where he was being pulled, until finally his green eyes gazed back at the closet. Despite the comforting charm, the lycanthrope began hyperventilating, fighting harder and panicking from the situation he was being thrusted into. The door was held shut, Avery panicking instantly as he banged on the door, desperately attempting to be released. As time proceeded, his breathing became worse, his fear elevating until finally he passed out from his hyperventilating. Eventually, the teacher managed to get into the room, discovering the frightful thing the bullies had done. People were punished and young Avery was sent to the nurse for an inspection before his parents were called. The nurse recommended taking Avery home, which his parents obeyed, bringing their son home to rest. Afterwards, Avery’s phobia of small places worsened after being trapped in the confined room, the wards becoming his only source of relaxation due to their effects. There were plenty of charms wrapped around the young boy, his parents investing heavily in magic to assist in maintaining Avery’s calm, although, they desired more children. Long after his birth, Avery’s mother became infertile, but the pair decided this was an excellent opportunity to adopt a second child. Their plans were to adopt an older child in hopes an older sibling would assist with helping Avery. Ultimately, they adopted a girl who was two years older than him, thus he began adjusting to having a big sister. Initially, the notion of adoption was question, Avery going lengths to wonder if his parents found him ill-favourable on account of his severe phobia. Instead they held other intentions, both wanting a second child and somebody to assist in watching over the young boy. They assured their biological son of their intentions, going lengths to allow any concerns to be filtered through them. Unfortunately, the cynical young boy struggled at first to connect with the stranger he now called a sister. While the older girl was patient, there was hesitance on both ends. After the torment, Avery was quiet and distant, making it hard for her to connect. Walks and rides to school were ultimately the way the siblings began connecting, the sister always starting the conversations, allowing for her adopted brother to slowly open up. Eventually, his older sister became his only friend, Avery becoming extremely close to her. As time proceeded, Avery’s sister was considered his best friend. The young man struggled to befriend anybody at the school because of his severe distrust. As a result, he developed in his quiet and almost lonely world. Rarely would Avery ever speak, his consistent distrust resulting in the young man begging his father to teach him self-defence. After years of pleading, his father agreed and the young man found himself an interesting hobby. Fighting became something Avery oddly enjoyed, the exhilaration and adrenaline transforming into an addictive feeling. It fueled his future aspirations, Avery deciding to become a bodyguard after successfully completing training in various forms of combat and with his abilities. As years passed, his sister eventually married and had a child, his new nephew going by Xavier. With his sister having a family of her own to worry about, Avery contact became a bit limiting, leaving Avery to continue with his roles as a bodyguard. Avoiding boredom became keen, thus the young man began taking on more jobs to keep himself busy. The increase of his workload allowed him to get caught up in an unfortunate mission. While protecting one of his charges, Avery’s left eye was injured by the perpetrator’s dagger. He proceeded to fight through the wound, fending them off before being taken to hospital. It was declared that Avery would be sightless in his left eye after closer examination. The injury resulted in him being on leave for several days, and once the healing the completed, he returned to work. However, the troubles were not over as his sister called him one day. Days had passed since their last talk, Avery initially believing his sister was checking in on them after their horrendous injury. Unfortunately, he was surprise which angered Avery upon hearing it. His sister’s husband had molested his nephew which resulted in the lycanthrope nearly throwing his phone across the room, however, a special request from his sister stopped him. She requested for Avery to take care of Xavier, and while he was hesitant, she eventually persuaded him. Initially, Avery believed the situation would not work as he struggled to get close to the young boy, but as time proceeded, the pair opened up to one another. They became extremely close, Avery treating Xavier like a son. The lycanthrope swore to protect his nephew, refusing to allow a sorrowful fate to befall Xavier again. The influence from Xavier made him pity children, thus when Avery discovered a kid who needed a home, he agreed to allow him in. Admittedly, since his sister possessed a pleasant influence on him, he prayed Xavier could potentially reap similar benefits from the interactions. Thus in October, he made the decision to adopt a young individual name Robyn in hopes of furthering the healing process for Xavier. misc - Likes: Peace and quiet, weapons, working/being alone, night time, the moon, a good challenge, listening, nature, family, quiet people, baked goods, open spaces, wards, motorcycles, protecting others, helping, fighting - Dislikes: Large groups of people, loud noises, trusting others, failing his job, pointless fighting, being pestered/annoyed, being asked questions, packs, criminals, people mocking his name, small spaces, vampires, being teased, trusting people, nosy people, emotional people, people trying to sneak up on him, being startled, bullies, intoxication, booze - Fears: Small spaces (claustrophobic), vampires, packs - Avery’s home is specially designed with charms that are meant to sooth the anxiety caused by small spaces. This significantly assists him by lowering the effects to him feeling merely uncomfortable, exhausted and less frightened of the spaces. He wears a similar charm around his wrist. Should these charms be removed, the full effects of his claustrophobia will activate should he be around a small space. - He has a nephew named Xavier Reeves. Claustrophobia gives Avery the irrational fear of small spaces with no escape. This usually causes Avery to be frightened of confined spaces and feel panicked when there is the possibility of him being in one. Although he has worked through some of his claustrophobia, which has limited his reactions to shaking, accelerated heart rate, hyperventilation, sweating and on more severe cases he may experience nausea and lightheadedness. Avery can have difficulties thinking clearly when he’s in a confined space and usually has to focus on calming himself. Like most with claustrophobia, Avery has a tendency to orbit near the doors of small rooms and just avoid confined spaces in general despite the fact that it only reinforces the idea that these spaces are dangerous. For the most part, Avery’s coping mechanism consists of avoidance even though exposure would help him more. When in a confined space he usually tries to slow his breathing in an attempt to calm himself. | roleplayer info ☆ NAME chibi magician ☆ RP EXPERIENCE about 7 years ☆ TIMEZONE central ☆ GENDER female ☆ AGE twenty ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS MALAKAI MOORS FELIX MELLOBROOK NATHAN BECKARD DESMOND WILTS KAITLYNN HARRIS FRITZ JACOBS NYLA KORVICH ARLO NORWOOD EMMERSON HALOGAN YVES LEVORA UMBERTO DARIAN VYLAD ZAIDER OCTAVIO KREMLEN BRASTI VANDERFELD PRESTON CLARK ZURIEL MARLINE PERSEPHONE ROSE LACHLAN FRAISER ALIANA LA ROSA CLYDE VELLESE ABEL MCCROFT HARRISON ACASTER WREN CATO RAMAGI VAUGHN MALLORI ISIDORE VYNLAY NOAH SULLIVAN KANO MIKAZUKI JAYDEN MILTON LAURENT MAYTHORN ☆ FACE CLAIM AO NO EXORCIST, Igor Neuhaus ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO CHIBI MAGICIAN.
