Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
had she had her phone with her, then it was quite possible she would of forgotten why she had been out here in the first place. had she been paying attention perhaps she would of caught that small smile. had she caught it you could be certain she would of made a big deal about it. perhaps she would have another chance. one where she wasn't busy staring at the ground for her missing phone.
thankfully her little spot was currently clear of any sudden dangers."what don't they make dangerous. really though, everything can be dangerous if you think about it. doesn't mean i won't still go. i'll be extra careful."she told him with a nod. she was in no way trying to undermine the assembly, she knew how dangerous they could be, but at the same time she wasn't going to stay home in fear.
she laughed softly at his response, or more the lack of a verbal one. it was an interesting reaction to say the least. as to keep things as smooth as possible she asked him about his job. she nodded, it made sense why he would stick close."so it's close by? don't worry i'm not going to follow you back."she said with a smile. no she had other things to do like find that stupid phone of hers. yeah it wasn't stupid now that she actually needed it. had she been smart she would of left the ringer on. if he was smart surely he would be aware that she wasn't home and wasn't responding to his text messages.
they had a system or so she liked to call it that. when she needed to escape for a while she would usually write him a note. if she cared to remember. then it would be a text if she wasn't home by an allotted amount of time. next it would be a phone call. maybe if she stopped talking for a minute she would hear it. after all besides them, it was pretty quiet outside. really though who would be out here in the cold. it was quiet for a few seconds, not that she needed to fill the silence. maybe her luck was turning around as she thought she heard a familiar melody."do you hear that?"she asked sounding a bit excited. what was she doing if it was her phone she needed to hurry."i'll be right back."she told him as she started to pick up her pace towards the direction of the sound.

Silence surrounded them because of the absence of people when night reigned over Lorsette. Alas, there was some minor noise because of Avery's interactions with Aurora, which broke the fragile quiet. There were few things the male brunette could say about the short-haired woman. They engaged in regular conversation, adding some comfort to the foreboding silence surrounding them. Quietness could stir many potential emotions of fright, however, Avery was adjusted to scares of a Lorsette evening. He proceeded to walk alongside the short-haired brunette, senses alert and aware to the surrounding occurrences.
They were among the few people wandering the sidewalks on this evening despite the large, lavish party Avery was working for. People stayed inside their warm homes during these times, therefore, silence was not unusual. Alas, people became frightened because of reports of terrors and criminals sneaking through the night. The woman's remarks of dangers prompted Avery to lift a brow, her truthful commentary about it being interesting. Based on personal experience, Avery understood her opinions on almost everything being labelled dangerous because of the Assembly.
"You're not wrong," Avery agreed.
When the short-haired woman inquired about the closeness of the location, Avery nodded at her question. The following reassurance was responded to with a nod of acknowledgement. They walked together, a silence falling over their conversation as they moved. As they continued down the sidewalks, the sudden sound of a small jingle reached Avery's sensitive years. The male lycanthrope glanced around, curious about the mysterious origin of the sound. When asked if he heard it, the one-eyed man nodded, allowing his enhanced hearing to continue listening to the noise.
Questions raised when Aurora suddenly stated she would be right back, which was something unexpected. A strange noise followed by her hurrying away? It was peculiar... The bodyguard watched her hurry, however, he refused to remain still. Quietly, he trailed the woman, considering it his duty as somebody protecting the lives of several people. As a defender, Avery was required to remain suspicious when warranted, thus he kept his suspicions.
it seemed like her luck was finally changing. so long as the phone kept ringing she would be able to find it. though how was she going to explain this to avery? that thought hadn’t crossed her mind when she had taken off. sooner or later her lies would be discovered. though really had she been lying or was it just simply withholding some information. besides it really wasn’t any of his business knowing why she was out here. why was she even worrying about it? what was he going to do if he did realize she hadn’t been completely honest with him?
that wasn’t important right now, finding her phone was top priority. yelling at him for leaving her behind would be next on her list. oh yes she was going to let them have it. this would be the last time she would be running around here like an idiot. she knew it would eventually would stop ringing. she managed to see a small area with shrubbery. it was a good as place as any to start looking. if she was lucky it would start ringing again. she wasn’t about to get on her hands and knees to start looking. if she found the phone good if not then she would just go with her plan b.
before running off she had run off abruptly she had told avery to wait for her. she wasn’t sure if he would actually stay or if he would follow behind. after all, he said he wouldn’t only leave her when it would be time to head back or if they were going in different directions. at that moment she was completely focused on finding her phone. she bent over as she started to look through the small bushes, pushing branches aside as she tried to look and feel around for it.

At a slower pace, Avery followed Aurora down the sidewalk, unable to view her since she rounded the corner. The male lycanthrope’s ears remained pricked and other senses familiarizing themselves with the surrounding area. Should Aurora find herself burdened with trouble, Avery hoped to detect it. The sound of a phone ringing reached his sensitive ears. It was the noise which prompted the short-haired woman’s abrupt departure. He proceeded down the sidewalk, eyes combing the wealthy neighbourhood for suspicious activity. There was a stillness noticed in the night because of his companion sprinting ahead.
There was something about nightfall that managed to relax Avery as he walked alone. The lack of movement, limited lighting and silence inspired tranquillity as he walked. While the one-eyed man was required to stay alert, he appreciated the calm nature of an autumn evening. The sleeve of his coat was adjusted, the brown-haired man glancing over the watch secured to his wrist. There was plenty of time before he was due back, therefore, he proceeded at his pace. His arm returned to his side, eyes accomplishing a fresh survey of the surrounding area.
Eventually, he rounded the corner, finally catching sight of Aurora who was looking through shrubbery. The sight caused Avery to pause briefly, a brow raising at the sight. After a few moments of observing, he approached the short-haired blond.
"What are you looking for?" The one-eyed man inquired.
Only moments prior had Aurora requested him to wait, however, the bodyguard had decided to disobey the request. The short-haired woman was not his charge, therefore he lacked an adequate reason to cease. The walk around the block doubled as a patrol and as somebody enlisted to protect others, he was expected to accomplish that without hesitation.
she had been so focused on finding her phone that she didn't hear the footsteps approach. she was startled once again though this time she knew who was behind her. she wasn't going to run not after hearing his question. this really was starting to become a tad ridiculous. she sighed softly as she turned to look at him."you scared me. i thought i told you to wait."she said with a pout, though that expression only lasted a few seconds. there was nothing she could do now.
she returned her attention back to the bushes. knowing that if she didn't answer his question, he was more than likely going to ask her again. apart from charming, he was sure he was the persistent type too. not that she was going to test that theory. she moved along a few more steps before she figured she'd come clean."my phone."she told him with a smile."i guess it must of fallen out of my pocket or something when i took off running."she told him with a nod. it wasn't a lie, she hadn't even realized it wasn't one her. she had been a tad to busy running for her life to notice.
though she had noticed after calming down and they had started their walk. after she had placed her hands inside the pocket of her jacket."honestly no big deal, i'm sure i'll find it."she said trying to make light of the situation. she returned her attention to the bushes, hoping it would make noise just once more."once i find it, i'll call my ride and i'll be out of your hair."she said with a small laugh."i'm sure i'll find it. it stopped ringing somewhere around here."she said motioning to the bushes.

There was always a chance Aurora could be displeased with his choice to proceed down the sidewalk. The desires of the short-haired woman hardly concerned the dutiful bodyguard. He was tasked with the occupation of protecting others and monitoring the security of a wealthy man's party, not obeying the commands of a woman he recently met. Therefore, her request was ignored and Avery had walked down the sidewalk, rounding the corner and noticing her searching through shrubs. It was a peculiar observation, one which naturally prompted Avery to question.
The male lycanthrope noticed the symptoms of being startled. The woman had failed to detect the one-eyed man's footsteps when he approached. He watched her, waiting for her explanation on the strange activity she was accomplishing. Nobody he had met thus far abruptly began searching through a plant without a proper reason. It was his responsibility as a protector, even if the distance between their current location and the party was considerable. A soft sigh was followed by a pout as Aurora repeated her request of waiting.
"I have a job to do, so staying put was not an option," he explained in a neutral tone. "Now, can I know what you are doing with the bushes?"
The topic Avery wished to gain more information on was Aurora's intentions with looking through the bushes. One could never be careful enough and the male lycanthope had been educated on that fact. The occupation he was expected to accomplish demanded those traits. He listened to the woman's words and nodded in response.
"So you're phone is missing? I wish you had told me sooner. I have a keen sense of hearing," the bodyguard explained.
He listened to the woman explain further, Avery pausing in thought as he scanned the bushes. Moments later his hand reached into the depths of his pocket to retrieve his phone.
"Do you remember the number Aurora? We can call it with my phone and find it because of the ringing," Avery asked calmly.
He hoped Aurora could recall her phone number. While Avery was not against assisting her in searching for the device, calling the phone would be undoubtedly quicker. There was also the lingering issue of his job requiring his presence back when his break concluded.
she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. she was going to be nice, after all he had been nice to her when she had come running up to him. though had he not tried to stop her, she probably would have continued running, but that's besides the point. she may have not rolled her eyes, but that didn’t do her any good.”i’m aware, but i wasn’t expecting you to sneak up on me is all.”she said with a sigh. his next question caused her to smile a bit.”am i doing something suspicious?”she asked him curiously. it was true that they didn’t know each other, but he seemed pretty friendly, even offering her a ride after he got off work. she just found it amusing, that was all.
she eventually told him that she was looking for her phone, though he didn’t ask why. which was a bit of a surprise. she had been running through things to say if he had shown up, which he obviously had and there it was. it seemed like she had spoken too soon.”sorry, i actually didn’t know it was missing till i heard my ringtone.”it wasn’t a complete lie. she knew she had dropped it somewhere, but it wasn’t something that she had shared with him.”i just wanted to make sure i caught it before it stopped."she told him with a nod. how many times had she lied to him now? if she wasn't careful she was bound to burn herself. though she kept telling herself that she was irrelevant. there was nothing she was doing that was going to interfere with him or the place he was hired to protect.
she smiled at him when he produced his phone. such a helpful guy. she hadn't been joking she she claimed him to be charming."may i?"she stretched her hand out it would be faster if she just dialed the number herself."yes, i remember. believe me when i say i have it memorized because its not the first time i've lost it."she added with a laugh.

Throughout their interaction, Avery remained neutral-toned, failing to lean towards friendly or aloof. A majority of circumstances featured an unfriendly man, however, he supposed the casual interaction failed to bother me. Quietly, the lycanthrope stood nearby, expression lacking as he listened. The brunette stated her awareness, followed by mentioning how unexpected his sudden appearance was. He started her with his approach, however, he hardly cared about frightening Aurora. She was somebody he needed to mildly pay attention for the sake of protection.
As proven by his actions, Avery had no intentions of obeying the young woman's requests. The male lycanthrope shrugged in response, making it clear he lacked care about her emotions and opinions about his accidental startling. These instincts were constant because of his occupation as a bodyguard. He watched her, waiting for an answer to his question, his protective nature insisting on the requirement. An inquiry was returned, Avery performing an eye roll in response to the playfully asked question he received.
Suspicions were serious when one worked in protection, therefore, he decided to avoid interacting with the playful side of Aurora in this situation. Fortunately, Avery received an answer related to the woman's phone being missing. Despite their strange interactions, the male brunette agreed to assist Aurora.
"I see," he breathed out.
There was an opportunity to assist Aurora and the bodyguard decided to help. When Aurora stated "may I", Avery nodded and passed her his cellphone. He carefully watched her as she proclaimed to memorizing her number. His expression was guarded as she observed him, waiting for her to call her phone and track it down.
she looked at him with a smile."you could of at least denied your suspicions."she continued to tease. it was rather amusing even if he wasn't suspicious of her. besides she wasn't too worried with her own actions. considering the only thing she had been doing that night was withholding some truths. again, it was information that wasn't important to him."did you think i was hiding something in the bushes?"she couldn't help, but find this rather funny.
how many times had he told her that he wouldn't react to her jokes. she had promised she would stop, but it didn't seem like he cared if she did or not. eventually she told him what she was looking for."i know super anti-climatic huh?"she asked in a teasing tone. of course she wasn't expecting a response.
perhaps it was because she didn't have his background, that she could joke about things like this. surely to him anything and everything could be a clue. it was probably why he was always on his toes, so to speak. how exhausting that would be. never being able to relax."i promise i'm not going to hurt you."she smiled at him as she dialed her number into his phone.
he had at least given her permission to use his phone. so surely she was making some sort of breakthrough. or perhaps it was just wishful thinking. besides what did it matter, this was probably the last time they would cross paths. she hit the call button and waited for it to start ringing. surely she had to be closer to it now."i hope my battery didn't die."she said softly as waited a few more seconds.
"there it is."she said as she started walking towards the sound avery's phone still in her hand.

Fortunately, there were methods to retrieve lost phones as long as the number was known by the tracker. Specialized apps were created to assist with those matters, however, considering they were in the general area, calling the device was the easiest option. Therefore, Avery was willing to lend assistance to the distressed brunette. Her behaviours failed to replicate the criminal attitudes he witnessed through his years of work. Nonetheless, he would observe her movements and assure his evaluation of her character was correct.
His natural cynicism resulted in his difficulties to settle in the situation. The female brunette gave Avery no reasons to refuse trust, but getting past his historic issues was a struggle. People harmed him constantly throughout his life, hence his unexpected struggles. The woman's smile followed by her teasing as expected, failed to prompt a proper response from the bodyguard. He merely rolled his eyes in response to the idea, not amused by the present situation. Another comment was added in the form of a playful question.
"I am supposed to be concerned about the safety of my clients," Avery stated in a professional voice.
The teasing continued as Aurora mentioned an anti-climatic end to the present problem. She was correct about the notion, it was definite.
"It is, but it will be alright," Avery assured.
He provided Aurora his phone, however, he watched her use it. There were no quicker solutions to assist with finding the cellphone. It motivated him to assist her to allow her to return to the safety of her home. He waited for her to call her phone, the ringing started again after the phone was typed in. The male lycanthrope glanced around, however, he was pleased when Aurora stated she saw the phone. The bodyguard glanced over, watching Aurora fetch her phone.
maybe it was the fact that she had been told that he wasn't an easy person to make laugh that she continued with her teasing. of course that wasn't the main reason. she was kinda of enjoying herself and this whole situation. which why she continued with her teasing. she happened to look over and caught a reaction and being who she was wasn't going to keep her mouth shut.
she smiled and acted surprised. if anything she found it amusing."what was that? a reaction? did you just roll your eyes at me?"it was fine if he didn't respond.
she needed to tone it down, with someone as serious as him, there was a time and a place."and you're doing a great job. that wasn't sarcasm."she shook her head."i get it, you have a job to do. so, you have to be on your toes."
after pressing the call button, it took a few seconds before she heard the ringing. she wasn't going to tell him to wait this time. she wasn't going to make that mistake, besides it sounded fairly close. she grabbed it and ended both calls. she quickly glanced over it, noticing she did in fact have a couple of missed calls and texts. she walked back towards him and handed him back his phone."thanks."she added with a smile as she started to look through her messages.
"how far away are we from your gig? i mean if it's alright with you. i'd rather wait for my ride knowing people are near by."of course she had no idea where she was. she could wait to give out street names to her ride."you're more than welcome to search me, if you still don't consider me safe."she said with a playful smile.

The lack of responsiveness to Aurora's playful teasing was undoubtedly natural for the grim-faced bodyguard. Throughout their interaction, he failed to display a proper response, or at least, the one Aurora seeked. Alas, her persistence carried on, stubbornly refusing to be dampened by his attitude. Based upon their interaction, Avery was under the impression of Aurora being a cheerful person. She consistently joked and seemed capable of enjoying his company despite his attitude.
The male lycanthrope refused to register a complaint. There was nothing negative about her company according to her attitude. Unfortunately, as a bodyguard with a sense of cynicism, he maintained a wary suspicion. Anybody could easily hide their true intentions, especially once deception was a mastered skill. He met those types of people in the form of his schoolyard bullies who maliciously held their horrible intentions. Therefore, the one-eyed man carefully watched the young woman, assuring his safety and the party guests' despite the distance.
The short-haired woman provided some teasing comments in relation to his eye roll response. The tone shifted as Aurora commentated on his occupation. Her words turned genuine as she mentioned his occupation and understood his reasons.
"Thank you," he responded with a slight nod.
Sounds of a ringing phone manifested when Aurora clicked the call button. Quietly, Avery followed the woman as they searched for her phone. The phone was retrieved moments later and shortly afterwards, Avery's returned. His device was turned off and shoved back into the depths of his pockets. When thanks was given, the male lycanthrope nodded in response to Avery's words. A question arrived, one which reminded him of an offer. Before she theoretically discovered her missing phone, the male brunette offered her a ride home.
It involved staying at the party, and the mysterious woman had avoided leaping at the offer. Perhaps she was trustworthy, however, Avery planned on watching her carefully. The offer towards a search was met with a shake of the head.
"You just plan on waiting, so we can head there," Avery explained. "Now c'mon."
The one-eyed man turned around, glancing over his shoulder with the expectation for Aurora to catch up. With his lack of familiarity with the woman, he desired to not have her stationed behind him. The lycanthrope's ears remained pricked, his nose sniffing the air, using his enhanced senses to subtly check for anything suspicious.
it wasn’t hard to understand, if you were stuck in a manner of thinking it was going to take awhile to switch to a different manner of acting. she smiled and shook her head at his thanks. she laughed softly as he said no to her offer of letting him search her. she had nothing to hide and was more than willing to comply, but that was also fine with her.
"yes, i'll be good i promise."she smiled and made sure she caught up with him. as they walked back, she continued to look through her phone. she had finally replied to one of the many messages she had received when her phone had been misplaced. making sure that she told him what had happened, well maybe not everything, just the fact that she had dropped her phone and that she would be waiting for him to come pick her up.
she was positive he would be questioning her later. which was fine with her, she would just throw it in his face that he hadn't come find her sooner. then perhaps this whole mess could of been avoided. no, the only way this whole thing could of been avoided was if she hadn't been forced to find that stupid prick.
walking and typing was not the best and she had started to fall a little behind. she picked up her pace after putting her phone into the pocket of her pants. she raised her hand to cover her mouth as she yawned. all these exciting turn of events had finally caught up with her. all she wanted was to go home have a something hot to drink and go to bed.

They walked together, Avery’s eyes scanning the area around him. These observations were automatic accomplished, an impulse designed for his safety and the safety of his clients. Alas, it began around the negative childhood filled with malicious bullies and loneliness. The concerns increased as he was provided permission to become a protective bodyguard. As they moved through the concrete sidewalks, the male lycanthrope allowed his senses to check the area. There was a gentle tapping from their shoes meeting the concrete below their feet.
The one-eyed man did not respond to Aurora’s promise to be good. At most, his forest green eyes glanced over at the short-haired woman, watching her for a few moments. There was a necessity to assure nothing was going awry and his decisions were not dangerous. The protection of his clients came before anything else, therefore, he was required to assure this woman would not cause harm. While he doubted she would accomplish anything despicable, it was nonetheless his duties as a bodyguard to attend to his suspicions.
Quietly, Avery led the young woman back towards the building he was hired to assist with protecting. Gradually, the mansion was coming into view, prompting the male lycanthrope to search more often.
"Did you want to wait inside?" Avery inquired as they approached.
The front gate was reaching their view, a pair of well-dressed guards standing at the entrance. Their gazes met, the guard's bodies stiffening as Avery returned with a stranger. From what they remembered, the one-eyed man left alone, hence their nervousness.
the walk back was quiet and with all the things that had happened, aurora was alright with the silence. she finished checking the messages and slipped her phone back into her pocket, making sure this time it would not fall out. this was getting a bit ridiculous. what made them think that they would end up finding him. clearly he did not want to be found. she was over this whole thing. she had promised to behave and laughed softly when he didn’t say a word. clearly she was no match for him, let alone the fact that he had back up. not that he would need it. she wasn’t a threat and she didn’t know what he was looking out for. did this client of his have a specific target? it was too much to think about, feeling paranoid all the time, it wasn’t good.
it’s probably why she was pretty flexible. there were just things that one couldn’t plan for, not to say that one should just sit back and do nothing. it was a stressful job, one wrong move and that’s it. no second chances. no wonder he was so serious all the time. she was happy she managed to get him to react just a bit. they eventually reached their destination and aurora quickly texted the location so he could come get her. she smiled and shook her head.”it’s alright, my ride shouldn’t be too long now.”hopefully it didn’t take him long, he was after all in the area. at least he should have been.”i promise i’ll be fine.”she said with a nod." i’ll text you when i’m home."after all she did have his number now.
