Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr="class","ayab-text"]Lunch was probably the best time of the day. Ziya hadn’t spent time weighing the pros and cons of different parts of the day, but there was food and there was time to talk to friends so that put it at least in the top 5. It was certainly better than math class, a fate she’s be doomed to in about an hour. [break][break] But there was no need to dwell on the future. For now it was lunch and she was happy. With a heaping tray of food in her hands, her gaze scanned the large room for a place so sit. There were so many potential options. She had plenty of friends strewn across various tables, but it wasn’t any of them her gaze landed on. [break][break] At the edge of the cafeteria, there was a kid sitting alone. She’d seen him in passing but had never had the chance to officially make him a friend. With a determined gait, she approached his table, trying to remember if she’d heard his name before. [break][break] She hadn’t come up with anything by the time she plopped her tray down on the table. “You know, I hate Russian nesting dolls. They’re so full of themselves.” she teased by way of greeting. If she didn’t know his name she could at least distract him with a laugh. [break][break] “Um... did you need something or... or you wanted to sit here with me?" His words came out in a clumsy string, but the awkwardness filling them was lost on Ziya. [break][break] “Yes. That.” she nodded with a broad grin. He may have been shy but that didn’t damper her determination to become friends. The more friends the better, no matter who they were. [break][break] It seemed like his question was inviting enough - not that she cared about being invited - so she sat down across the table from him and began opening a snack-sized bag of pretzels. She didn’t know why they sold them in such small bags. They should just sell the big bags. Then she’d have more. She was starving. But first she had to explain to her new friend why she simply couldn’t allow him to eat alone. [break][break] “You looked lonely.” she said, studying his face. Maybe he didn’t want her here. The idea seemed preposterous. “I can be quiet if you want but I’m not just gonna let you eat alone. That would be boring. Food is always better when shared with others.” She glanced at her pretzels and smiled sheepishly. Like hell she’d share food. She shouldn’t be making offers she wasn’t open to keeping. “Well not shared... But eaten in the same vicinity.” [break][break] Believing she’d thoroughly made her point, she popped one of the pretzels in her mouth, reveling in the saltiness.
Ziya’s face is almost always decorated with a bright smile. Long green hair a few shades lighter than her emerald eyes falls to just below her waist, framing a youthful face. She usually wears her hair up in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. Standing at about 175 cm, Ziya is somewhat tall. Her weight fluctuates along with her eating habits, but usually she’s around 65 kg.
When it comes to clothing, Ziya will wear just about anything. She doesn’t really care what others think of her style and would rather be comfortable than anything else. Usually she leans towards loose dresses, but that’s entirely dependent on the day. She rarely wears anything that doesn’t have much colour. She does hate being cold, so in the winter she’ll almost always have thick stockings and a jacket.
Ziya isn’t afraid to draw attention to herself. In fact, she loves it. She easily gets bored, and talking is often her way around that. She couldn’t care less what others think about her, so long as they think something. She finds it fairly easy to make friends, but she knows a fair share of people just consider her annoying.
Ziya is a child at heart, and she always will be. She is fluent in dad jokes and not afraid to use them. In fact, she may throw them out a bit too much when she should be focusing on real, important situations. She doesn’t handle stress or negative emotions very well and usually tries to shrug them off by turning it into a joke. When that doesn’t work, she ignores it until it goes away.
Ziya is not lenient about her opinions. If you have an opposing viewpoint, she will fight you on it unless your logic is strong enough to change her mind. She’ll often support her friends to the death like this, even if she knows they’re dead wrong. Usually if she gets in a small disagreement, she’ll let it go a day or so later, but if she decides to hold a grudge she is very stubborn and childish about it. She may give you the cold shoulder or just stick her tongue out at you in passing. The same goes for if she randomly decides she doesn’t like you.
Her inability to stay still sometimes makes it hard to get work done. When it comes down to it, she really needs someone pushing her into focusing, but once she gets that push she’ll try to do the assignment to the best of her abilities. Unless she gets distracted. “But when the one dude went to the moon didn’t he officially become an alien for a few hours?”
abilities
Water Manipulation ~ Average As a mermaid, Ziya can manipulate water, moving it at will. When she was younger she put a lot of effort into this ability so she could learn to splash her siblings while being out of range of a counter attack. She is bad at manipulating the temperature of water and unless she has a direct source of water she can’t do much. If she really focuses she can draw water out of other things, like wet hair or leaves, but that’s never gonna happen.
Enhanced Swimming Speed ~ Average When in the water, Ziya can swim far faster than a human. She loves testing her limits, but swimming too fast can wear her out pretty quickly. If she’s not shifted with her tail this ability does nothing.
Hymns ~ Rudimentary Ziya thinks singing is fun, but the idea of songs being able to affect others kind of scares her. She’s never made an effort to learn any sort of hymns.
Natural ~ Enhanced Beauty, Temperature Resilience, Underwater Breathing, Aquatic Zoopathy, Dad Jokery
backstory
As one of the 8 children of Nitzan and Adonai Blane, Ziya grew up in a loving household. She’s never been content with boredom, and she was always a very talkative child. In her loving family she didn’t understand the concept of people being mean until she went to school. Most bullies’ insults bounced off of her, but she saw people that were more affected by the words of others and strived to be friends with them. Now if anyone says anything mean to one of her friends or her family she won’t let it go.
School has always been a weak subject for Ziya. She’s fairly intelligent and if she studied she’d probably be able to get it down, but focusing on any one thing for that long is hard for her. She has never once considered cheating, but she’s given her fair share of excuses for not getting work done.
With her loud mouth, she’s gotten in her fair share of fights and she’s no stranger to punishment. She always bounces back quickly, though. When she was younger her father taught her the basics of self defense, but she’d never use that unless it’s absolutely nessisary.
