Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr="class","plotbg"] The bustling atmosphere of cafeteria at lunch was always overwhelming for the chameleon. Taking in the loud chatter that bounced off the walls of the room, The amount of tables filled with various students, the constant moving of students leaving and going was something he had to look out for as he weaved himself past a few other students. Shib remembers how It took a few days of adjusting when he first started attending but he barely somehow managed to find a way to remain at ease during lunch period. It wasn't often but he always sat at a table in the back or one that fell along the left side of the room. Luckily, he was able to get himself an empty table today. [break][break] Shib can't help but sigh in relief as he set down his bagged lunch on top of the table. His lunch hadn't been anything grandiose but then again, Shib always had fairly simple meals made for him. A sandwich with a side of fruit and various small snacks like chips, pretzels, or even candy if he was feeling extra special. His hand reached inside the bag to withdraw the items within it. [break][break] All he wanted to do was enjoy the grapes he was blessed with today but during the same time he had opened the container... the sound of a tray being clattered down in front of him reached his ears. Shib was already part way into biting the fruit so really, he just munched quietly at the sudden appearance of a zealous looking female. She had green hair.... and a friendly looking smile but he wondered why out of all she could've sit at... why him?[break][break] "Oh..." [break][break] It wasn't the first he seen of her but they weren't too familiar either. It had to be on his way passing through his classes that he felt like he caught glimpse of her. [break][break] "Hello! Um... did you need something or... or you wanted to sit here with me?"

[attr="class","ayab-text"]Lunch was probably the best time of the day. Ziya hadn’t spent time weighing the pros and cons of different parts of the day, but there was food and there was time to talk to friends so that put it at least in the top 5. It was certainly better than math class, a fate she’s be doomed to in about an hour. [break][break] But there was no need to dwell on the future. For now it was lunch and she was happy. With a heaping tray of food in her hands, her gaze scanned the large room for a place so sit. There were so many potential options. She had plenty of friends strewn across various tables, but it wasn’t any of them her gaze landed on. [break][break] At the edge of the cafeteria, there was a kid sitting alone. She’d seen him in passing but had never had the chance to officially make him a friend. With a determined gait, she approached his table, trying to remember if she’d heard his name before. [break][break] She hadn’t come up with anything by the time she plopped her tray down on the table. “You know, I hate Russian nesting dolls. They’re so full of themselves.” she teased by way of greeting. If she didn’t know his name she could at least distract him with a laugh. [break][break] “Um... did you need something or... or you wanted to sit here with me?" His words came out in a clumsy string, but the awkwardness filling them was lost on Ziya. [break][break] “Yes. That.” she nodded with a broad grin. He may have been shy but that didn’t damper her determination to become friends. The more friends the better, no matter who they were. [break][break] It seemed like his question was inviting enough - not that she cared about being invited - so she sat down across the table from him and began opening a snack-sized bag of pretzels. She didn’t know why they sold them in such small bags. They should just sell the big bags. Then she’d have more. She was starving. But first she had to explain to her new friend why she simply couldn’t allow him to eat alone. [break][break] “You looked lonely.” she said, studying his face. Maybe he didn’t want her here. The idea seemed preposterous. “I can be quiet if you want but I’m not just gonna let you eat alone. That would be boring. Food is always better when shared with others.” She glanced at her pretzels and smiled sheepishly. Like hell she’d share food. She shouldn’t be making offers she wasn’t open to keeping. “Well not shared... But eaten in the same vicinity.” [break][break] Believing she’d thoroughly made her point, she popped one of the pretzels in her mouth, reveling in the saltiness.

[attr="class","plotbg"]"Um..." A greeting unlike one he's ever received before. It left the question of what was a russian nesting doll within his head but an awkward laugh bubbled up from without his throat. Not saying anything here felt like it'd be bad so a laugh was better than nothing. [break][break]
The way she had just strived up to him and boldly came out with her intentions like that left Shib awestricken. Shib didn't have the ounce of confidence or guts within himself to waltz himself right up to a table with a stranger seated at it and say something like she just did but the fact that she had been paying attention. Noticed him here all by himself and thought that she wanted to change that. It was extremely touching and the chameleon couldn't help but crack an eager smile on his features. There was no way she could possibly be someone bad if she had done this much, right?![break][break]
"There's no need to be quiet!" He mumbles as his hands fidgeted with yet another grape before he plopped it into his mouth to silently crunch. "Hahah... you really do have a point but um... don't worry! I won't take your pretzels... I usually can't even finish my lunch so maybe I'll be the one sharing with you." The mood around him had notably lifted up by the simple kindness that was shone his way although he was still awkward with some movements but it was clear that the idea of having someone around was accepted. [break][break]
"Do you normally eat school lunch...-- oh! right! I don't know your name yet... I'm so sorry I forgot to ask." Shib hands lifted to flail about in a panic. "Um... um my name is Shib!! Shib Parker... it's very nice to meet you and.. well... I'm glad you came to sit with me. No one's really ever done that before so I hope we can have a good lunch together or something." He spoke all of that quickly and when the time came where he stopped, he had gone silent immediately. Shib had hoped to introduce himself nice and slowly but... yeah... that was an attempt.[break][break]
"I hope I didn't speak too fast ah... I am a little nervous for some reason, hahaha..."

[attr="class","ayab-text"]Ziya was blissfully unaware of the awkwardness that struck the boy or the fact that she should be cringing at her own boldness. Rather, she saw his smile and in her head she was already celebrating making a new friend. They’d be good friends too. She didn’t know how she knew, but it was as clear to her as the sky was blue. [break][break] She brought herself back to attention, determined to hear out what her new friend had to say as she munched on her pretzels. It would be rude to ignore him. Try as she might to focus, one particular thing he said hooked her mind, drowning out the rest. "You mean it? You'll share?" she asked, eyes lighting up. [break][break] The boy was talking again, starting off with something about food before quite suddenly changing the subject away. Probably smart. Talking about food always seemed to make her hungry. As he talked she finished off the small bag of pretzels and grabbed the next morsel on the tray - a bowl of chopped up carrots. She was sure her dads would be happier with that than most of the other food she had. She had nothing against fruits and vegetables. In fact, most foods were equally appealing to her, save for truly disgusting things like watermelon. It was just that things like fruit snacks were easier to transport than their natural counterparts. They didn't get bruised as easily, and they didn't go bad after a few hours out of the fridge either. Not that most food around her had to last more than a few hours. [break][break] Shib finished his line of speech and Ziya swallowed her bite of food so she could respond."No need to be nervous! Or to thank me! I like making new friends. Friends are fun." she nodded as if to confirm her own point. She had a lot of friends, but they were one of those things you could never have too many of. Before he got a chance to respond, she'd moved on. "Shib Parker. Shiiiib... a Inu!" A grin brightened her face as she chuckled at her own bit of wordplay. "Well, Shiba, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Ziyanda Blane. Most people just call me Ziya, though."

[attr="class","plotbg"]It was clear whoever this girl was; one thing for sure was she had been motivated by food. The immediate light-up of her eyes followed by the tone of her voice increasing with the confirmation of his prior words. If giving her some of his lunch really would make her that happy... Shib had no problem doing it. "I do! Just lemme know what you want and I'll give you some!" He had pretty balanced lunches; his parents were big on making sure he hadn't been consuming too much junk food but it wasn't as if all of what he had tasted bad either. [break][break]
"You're really nice!" It was always a coin flip the kind of person he could end up interacting with but fate was on his side! The green haired female seemed right up his alley. The pun was unexpected but it certainly did loosen him up. A loud chuckle erupted from behind his hand.. puns were good on their own but make it an animal pun? It was the right way to turn Shib into a giggling mess. "Yes!! I'm a Shiiib... a Inu! Sort of! Maybe.... a colorful dog-reptile...?" His nerves seemed to have ease with her pun talents. "Ahhh! Ziya! I would try to return it but I'm not good at all with puns so I'll leave it to you." [break][break]
His stature had perked up and he no longer was slouching as much. A wide smile resided on his face as he reached to grab some more of his fruit. "How'd your classes go?? I'm a bit tired from all the walking so lunch couldn't have come at a more perfect time." He finished speaking and had popped the grape into his mouth, chewing quietly while his attention remained fixated on his newly-established friend.
