She hadn't entirely been paying attention when they explained why, but she had no doubt it had to do with that distant future they were insistent on preparing her for.

Whatever the reason, she didn't want to be late. There was a 90% chance she'd ruin the streak later on, but she was having a rare moment of caution where she didn't want to get in trouble. Unfortunately, in her rush to get to class she found herself turning the corner and ramming into another girl. She let out a shocked yelp before seeing who, exactly, she'd run into. She'd seen her around but had never gotten the chance to officially become her friend. It was time to change that. "I'm so sorry!" she said, then her mind backtracked to what the girl had said.

The string of thoughts fell from her lips before they filtered through her mind. Excitement radiated off of her. The way she saw it, she’d just made a new friend. "Warum sind Seeräuber so schlecht in Mathe? Weil sei Pi raten*." Her words were slowed, but she was determined to get the pronunciation right. She knew at least one joke in every language that mattered - who knew when they could be useful - and this was her German one. From her understanding, it was very funny. Then again, from her understanding almost everything she said was funny.
