Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
It isn’t an uncommon thing to see the curious and easy-going Wolma running around school grounds on all fours, absolutely and hopelessly lost. Class started around half an hour ago and she had no idea what to do. Sprinting past a teen couple that hurled insults and curses at her behavior, she ignored them and kept running, stopping in a hallway slightly out of breath. It was there she decided to rest, sitting as a wolf or similar canine would on the cold tiled ground. As she did, she looked down the hall, twitching slightly. It seemed endless, almost like it was a highway to hell... or in this case, a hallway to hell...
Wolma remembered clearly what she was told just two days ago by her professor, and while the major class project didn’t concern her, meeting her partner for it did. She knew no one that would willingly work with her and put up with her rather overly-attached nature, and this fact disheartened her a bit. Leaning against the wall, the nature friend inspected her clothing, wondering both how she’d find her partner and why the professor paired them up, knowing Wolma couldn’t write or speak the language of the other students.
Shrugging the thought off, she stretched and continued on- still on all fours- down the hall. However kind or cruel her partner was, she was excited to meet them. She didn’t have many friends, nor people to show off to, so any chance at a normal day was one she was of course going to take. The green bundles of plant-magic around her lower body and arm suddenly sprung to life, moving like green waves on her form, and alerting her of the presence of another student.
Skidding to a stop, she put her hands up in defense, barely getting out a shaky “Mir leid!”, roughly ‘sorry’ in the only language she could somewhat speak: German. Wolma remained on the ground, looking at her fellow student, wondering if she was in any way hurt, staring for an excessively long time at them before nodding. She didn’t see anything, but if they were injured, she’d heal them later.
[attr="class","ayab-text"]How was Ziya supposed to get to class in time when there were so many people in the hall during the passing period? It wasn't like she could ignore her friends when they wanted to chat. Even if she wanted to try to avoid them for some insane reason she had to get to her locker and back to class and that was far too much walking to not pass anyone she knew. The hallway had cleared out over the past few minutes, and she got the distinct feeling she was very close to missing that bell again. She didn't personally care, but she knew her dads would be mad if she was late. Something about it affecting her grades, or her needing to learn, or.... She hadn't entirely been paying attention when they explained why, but she had no doubt it had to do with that distant future they were insistent on preparing her for. [break][break] Whatever the reason, she didn't want to be late. There was a 90% chance she'd ruin the streak later on, but she was having a rare moment of caution where she didn't want to get in trouble. Unfortunately, in her rush to get to class she found herself turning the corner and ramming into another girl. She let out a shocked yelp before seeing who, exactly, she'd run into. She'd seen her around but had never gotten the chance to officially become her friend. It was time to change that. "I'm so sorry!" she said, then her mind backtracked to what the girl had said. [break][break] "Mir leid! That’s German, isn’t it? Are you German? Oh cool! We haven’t met yet but I speak English. Do you speak any English? Wait wait wait! I got this! One moment, I swear I’ve got this!" The string of thoughts fell from her lips before they filtered through her mind. Excitement radiated off of her. The way she saw it, she’d just made a new friend. "Warum sind Seeräuber so schlecht in Mathe? Weil sei Pi raten*." Her words were slowed, but she was determined to get the pronunciation right. She knew at least one joke in every language that mattered - who knew when they could be useful - and this was her German one. From her understanding, it was very funny. Then again, from her understanding almost everything she said was funny. [break][break][break][break]
*Warum sind Seeräuber so schlecht in Mathe? Weil sie Pi raten.[break] Literal Translation - Why are pirates so bad at math? They always guess pi. [break] The more important punny translation - Seeräuber means pirate but so does piraten. Raten also means guess and so Pi raten means to guess pi. Yep. Did great there Ziya.
Luckily for Wolma, the person she ran into didn't seem to be hurt in any way, in fact it seemed to be quite the opposite. Sprouting a very small smile in response to her apology, she stood up on two feet as to not make the situation any more tense than it had to be. While she had no way to verbally say that the collision was her fault, she could try her best. Before she had a chance to, however, the girl in front of her asked if what she said was of German origin. She nodded with haste, only hoping she knew what Wolma meant. Her hastiness faded as she asked about English. She understood it, but speaking it? A whole different concept altogether. She growled lightly, making it known that speaking English was a no-go, for the most part.
The girl in front of her appeared to be extremely excited to show Wolma her German tongue, and honestly, so was she. It's been years since she heard someone else speak it, and she knew for a fact that there wasn't many who spoke the language in school. After hearing her tell her joke, Wolma couldn't help but burst out in laughter... but no sound came out of her mouth; a silent laugh, one could say, brought to life by her motions.
Her hands were wrapped around her stomach as a few tears began to stream down her face. The pirate joke was extremely cheesy to her, but a joke was a joke, and she liked puns of all kinds. After calming down, she nodded her head in approval. The girl's German wasn't bad, Wolma was impressed she could speak it well enough to make a joke, and hoped that wasn't the extent of her speaking.
"Flie.. ßend?" Wolma asked, wondering if she was a native speaker. It took her time to pronounce each syllable with her damaged vocal cords, but luckily she managed to get the word "fluent" across. Her big yellow eyes stared at her with an unreal amount of interest to see what she would say next, but Wolma didn't forget about class. Moving to the side to see the rest of the hallway, she pouted as she remembered just how lost she was.
[attr="class","ayab-text"]Ziya grinned at the girl's reaction to the joke. Anyone that found her funny had to be her friend. And anyone that didn't find her funny had to learn to find her funny or put up with her because they had to be her friend too! When it came down to it Ziya was determined to make everyone her friend. The more friends the better. After all, friends gave you food when you finished eating your lunch and they didn't want to. And they told jokes with you! There was nothing better than a friend. Except, maybe, teasing her older brother with her endless puns. He absolutely hated them. She didn't understand how; he heard enough of them that he should have developed a tolerance by now. [break][break] Fließend? The word immediately broke her thoughts as she picked it apart, determined to identify it. "That means fluent, right?" she asked, proud of herself for making an at least semi-realistic connection. "Sorry, I just know the important things. Which was that." There was a glib note in her tone, as though just knowing a joke was something to be proud of. And to her it was. She believed humor was the most important thing to be able to translate over other languages. It was the entire reason she liked languages, to see how different words could go together to make a joke. [break][break] But if she knew more of the language she could make more jokes. "Oh but we can change that! You should, like, totally teach me!" she said eagerly. "Please? I'm a fast learner, and we're friends now so you have to help." Maybe she should have felt bad for using friendship as a reason to demand foreign language lessons, but she was more focused on the fact that she'd made a friend and she wanted to be able to communicate better. Plus it would be so much fun! [break][break] "You can teach me German and I can help you with English!" she added, eyes lighting up as the thought occurred to her. She wasn't sure the other girl had said she couldn't speak English - she hadn't been paying enough attention - but she didn't really care. There was always more to be learned about a language. "It'll be fun!"
