Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

[attr="class","eristalk"]Exhilaration rocketed through Eris' veins as he bounced on his feet. Quietly, his eyes wandered, attempting to preoccupy the young bakeneko as he waited for his friend's arrival. Across the plexiglass walls of the transit booth were varying posters. Many mentioned the events available for winter, along with others being posters hung by others. A few mentioned selling an item, others attempting to find work through babysitting. A variety of different things plastered in a single area for passerbys to discover.
A soft 'hmm' escaped Eris' lips as he turned, his brown eyes curiously wandering about. Since his arrival in Lorsette, he discovered the black and white difference in atmosphere. In Aria Village, there was always an invisible pressure exerted on everybody's shoulders accompanied by a tense nature. Everybody appeared to possess their objectives and deliberately countering them resulted in pain and snappy words. Wonderment twinkled in his eyes as Eris observed the world around him, seemingly amazed by everything portrayed before him.
The bakeneko's shoulders jerked, a soft, surprised gasp escaped his lips. Behind him arrived a familiar name that Eris remembered thoroughly and enjoyed hearing. The ravenette turned, a smile shortly stretching across his countenance at the sighting.
"Shib! You're here!" The bakeneko happily cheered.
A wide smile was playing across the lips of the ravenette, his feet seemingly bouncing more with his friend's arrival. He adored the friend he made in high school, finding him an excellent influence on his life. The shifter accompanying him skating was the first individual he ever formed a relationship with, thus, he appreciated the other male.
"Yep! I am sooooo, excited Shib! I have never gone skating before and finally, I get to! It's so exciting!" He cheerfully exclaimed.
The churning wheels of the bus squealed in Eris' ears as the long vehicle arrived closer. A gleeful giggle rumbled from the bakeneko's chest. The squeak and swish of exhaust entered his ears as the bus came to a complete stop. Gradually, the door slid opened, allowing patrons to enter. The young ravenette hoped on his feet and scurried towards the open door.
"C'mon Shib! Let's go," he called to his friend.
Hastily, Shib hurried up the small step of stairs. From his pocket, Eris plucked out a small chunk of change and passed it to the driver. Once his admission was allowed, Eris walked down the hallway, glancing over his shoulder to assure Shib was following. The bakeneko's eyes scanned the seats, eventually noticing a pair of side-by-sides seats for himself and Shib. He skirted into the seat, entering the one closest to the window to provide room for Shib. As Eris settled into the seat, his legs wiggled, the excitement stirring inside the young man becoming more evident in a single glance.
[attr="class","eristalk"]Eased by the differing treatment, Eris' attitude blossomed beautifully under Shib's behaviour. The comprehension of adjusting to a new location existed between them which assisted in maintaining a comfortable connection. The cheerful smile shining on Eris' countenance made the bakeneko's features glow as he followed Shib. His amber eyes flitted about, analyzing the long, locker-covered hallways of the second floor. Each door was accented in silver-coloured combination locks with only a small amount being of a different lock type.
Curiously, Eris' eyes gazed about, noticing the various motivational posters sterned across freed spaces. Additionally amongst the colourful school posters were those suggesting students choose varying career paths. The minor aesthetics of banners themselves exhibited the vast differences between Lorsette and Aria Village. In the smaller school, everything related to future occupations consisted of anything related to the Assembly of Phantoms. The village wished the cultivate consistent troops for the war against the TRS.
As Shib pointed out his classrooms, Eris nodded to exhibit his attentiveness. The first room pointed out was the English classroom. The idea of English brought acute excitement to Eris, his hopes targeting the possibility of improvements compared to the small-town school. The second classroom for math brought a brief wavering to his smile as he sighed.
"I don't like math... It can be so hard sometimes," the bakeneko quietly grumbled.
For a few moments, the amber-eyed scrutinized the math classroom door. Already, he could imagine the many math-themed decorations inside the classroom. The mere thought made Eris' mouth frown; he never excelled in math. When Shib began speaking, the bakeneko's attention returned to the purple-haired man. He nodded hastily, a soft 'mmhmm' emphasizing his confirmation of Shib's statement. As motioned, Eris followed after Shib, their steps returning them to the stairwell. As the initial steps arrived, every weighted step upon the stairs echoed, reverberating off the walls.
As they slowly made their way up the stairs, Eris listened to Shib. The reminders of school's stresses and everything not consisting of sunshine and rainbows.
He nodded as he spoke. "I know, I'm just hoping it is better than my old school, and so far it is!"
Together, they headed upstairs, reaching another floor of the school. Quietly, Eris followed Shib through the heavy stairwell door and into the next hallway. Immediately, Eris' eyes began scanning a similar locker-covered hallway, albeit, with different coloured pale lockers. Two more classrooms were pointed out, history was the closest and biology at the end of the hallway. The ravenette nodded, his eyes following Shib's directions.
"I think I will be alright, let's keep going," the bakeneko insisted cheerfully.
Once again, Eris' fixation was on Shib as he waited to continue forward. The young man was enjoying the tour, his companion managing to bring him tranquillity.
[attr="class","eristalk"]Excitement swallowed the potential for negative emotions as dopamine swelled in Eris' brain during the afternoon of a warm winter's day. Throughout the week, the bakeneko procured an acute curiosity in the realm of gliding across ice on a pair of thin bars. The extensive abilities of hockey players and figure skaters caused the young, dark-haired student's eyes to sparkle in awe. The smooth gliding of capable men and woman across a sheet of ice with incredible dexterity impressed the young bakeneko. The entire week was spent showing off videos to friends depicting the magnificent stunts.
He knew about hockey and figure skating for years. Alas, a forceful endeavour into the cruel learning program by his parents resulted in the bakeneko never thoroughly exploring the topics. However, with time for self-discovery available with the acquirement of his new housing, Eris was brimming with eagerness. Though, the actions which raised his emotions to a complete delirium was an agreement manifested between himself and Shib. The opportunity for an outing at a local outdoor rink that even had skates available for the usage of those lacking.
The bakeneko knew the advanced movements or fast pace of the professional skaters would be beyond him, however, he thought left him bouncing on his feet. Falls would inevitably occur, but his eagerness to feast on a new experience pushed Eris forward. Despite his disdain for winter, the young bakeneko craved new experiences. The recent freedoms from his parents allowed for a proper exploration of everything he missed because of their treatment of him. Thus, after a large lunch, Eris tugged on a pair of ski pants followed by a thick coat and topped off with a toque, mitts and scarf.
A majority of his garbs were black in colour, though his hat, scarf and mitts were a dark purple colour. Wallet and phone in hand, the young bakeneko was prepared to set out for a day of fun amidst the cold expanse of winter. Once fully prepared, Eris hurried towards the door, only ceasing briefly to glance back inside.
"I'm going skating with Shib! I'll be back later!" He called into the house.
Moments later, the bakeneko's fixation returned elsewhere as he closed the door behind him. If they required his attention, they could call out the door. Quickly, Eris bounded down the front walkway and towards the suburbs sidewalk. A portion of their agreement for skating together consisted of meeting at the local bus stop to reach the required location. Sunlight wrapped around Eris as he walked speedily down the sidewalk, his hands automatically retreating to his jacket pockets. Already, fantasies of enjoying his skating ventures with Shib filled his mind.
From the learning to the possibilities of becoming spectacular in the art, it all entered his head. Inside his pockets, his fingers twitched excitedly, his mind racing endlessly as he drew closer to the small box containing a single bench. The smile across his lips felt infinite as he approached. Alas, in his excitement, the bakeneko left plenty early, making his arrival extreme. The bus would not arrive until another 15 minutes, however, the student enthusiasm to learning a new skill fueled only further happiness.
With his early arrival, Eris ducked into the transit waiting booth. There, he stood, bouncing on his feet and amber eyes gazing around as he waited for Shib's arrival.
[attr="class","eristalk"]Thoroughly enthused by his tour guide, Eris discovered himself maintaining strength in his cheerful, sociable and friendly behaviour. Unlike the previously attempted tour guide, Shib managed to manifest a comfort between them despite the brief amount of time together. There was something about his fellow student's attitude that caused happiness to bubble and overflow. The energy was teeming through his veins upon his exposure to the purple-haired student. The anxieties were long removed from Eris' mind as the bakeneko experienced a well-needed dose of social energy.
Many factors caused Shib to exemplify a nature Eris found appealing. Specifically, the manner conversation naturally flowed between them after the initial introductions. Then, in addition, the shy student's comprehension of the emotions and circumstance allowed him to smoothly ease around him. The excitement sped through his veins, his bouncy, joy-filled movements gaining momentum the longer he spent alongside him. The bakeneko's amber eyes glistened in the artificial lights of the school, however, flickers of happiness strengthening.
A soft giggle bubbled out of Eris' chest as he smiled broadly. A joyous warmth radiating inside him, bringing him seemingly endless happiness.
"But I'm sure you are, Shib! I know you are!" Eris gleefully cheered.
Movements were coaxed by a simple hand gesture, bringing a smile to the bakeneko's face. The ravenette hastened his pace, accomplishing a light, brief jog to catch up to his tour guide. Once he reached his fellow student, Eris proceeded to walk beside the man deciding to show him around. Already, Eris' eyes flitted about the area, analyzing the school hallways with a broad grin and shining eyes. The moderate speed of their continuance was welcomed by Eris. It was perfect, allowing the young boy to drink in the sights and sounds of his new school.
As conversation returned, Eris' amber eyes returned to his companion. However, the question summoned a pang of concern to inflict on the bakeneko stomach. The reason for his arrival to Lorsette was the exact reason his former tour turned sour! Nervousness crawled over him, a pressure covering the back of his neck as he managed an anxious smile. He refused to lose this opportunity at friendship... He already enjoyed Shib's company a lot! Thus in his awkwardness, his brain narrowly churned out an answer.
"Um... it's nothing special," he responded, voice a few pitches higher from nervousness. "Talking about that other stuff would be a lot more interesting! I swear! An-anyways, I'm just excited to be somewhere else. You know?"
The bakeneko awkwardly derailed the conversation to his reasons for being in Lorsette. Was his dishonesty bad? Perhaps. Alas, Eris was terrified at the notion of losing somebody who seemingly held a promise of friendship. There was a chance here and the ravenette wished to take the opportunity.
