appearance At the unimposing height of 5’3”, people fail to bat an eye at the short, fifteen-year-old bakeneko. There is nothing impressive about Eris’ small frame, but the young teen hardly cares. Being a rather light-weighted young boy with barrel loads of energy, Eris is a small child, but a quick runner. He adores sprinting down sidewalks and running errands for the TRS, therefore, he is built for those situations. His complexion is an olive colour without hardly a scar across his smaller frame. His limbs are thin, but nothing considered lanky in comparison to his smaller frame. Similarly, his hands are slender and nimble, allowing him to capably do card tricks, which is something he learned to entertain his grandmother. As a relatively young child, Eris has a rounded face. His cheekbones rest slightly high, however, are difficult to notice because of the semi-plump cheeks beneath. This grants him a youthful facial structure perhaps befitting of a boy his age. Thick, messy locks of dark purple hair are atop Eris’ head, the bangs capable of sinking into his brilliant, amber eyes. People have been known to compliment his hair for the softness it retains. Branching off down his neck is a small, braided rat-tail. There is a golden sparkle in his magnificent amber eyes as golden flecks dance in his irises. They are attention-grabbing, usually being the first thing people tend to notice. Below his eyes are a petite nose with a subtle upturn. Working with TRS members, Eris attempts to maintain a tough front with his clothing. He lacks a proper TRS uniform because of his meagre title as “Errand Boy” therefore, he tends to wear his casual, tough attire. Therefore, Eris is known for sporting ripped, pale blue jeans that reveal his knees. His favoured jacket possesses the image of hexes on both of the upper arms, just below the shoulders; despite his inability to use hexes. These pieces do not contain chalk or blood, so they cannot be activated, it is just aesthetic. It consists of darkened colours with a white fringing for his zipper. He has a preference for darker colours and items with themes of the occult or items made by his grandmother. Most notably, he tends to wear the jewelry his grandmother made for him, including some bracelets, necklaces and even earrings. The most infamous of these necklaces is one with a long chain which rests at the lower section of his chest with two crow feathers as the charm. When shifted, Eris takes on the form of a raven-furred cat with brilliant amber eyes and a spiked tailed. He is similar in breed to a domestic short-fur, making him small and quick. In this form, his eyes take on the similar shape of a cat. He can display minimal traits if he wishes, such as ears and a tail. This most prominently happens when he has dreams of being a cat, resulting in him waking with cat ears and a tail. personality
abilities Fire Manipulation -- Beginner The ability to control and manipulate fire, even allowing the user to create heat from it. Personally, Eris has never been a fan of his abilities to manipulate fire. Constantly, his grandmother taught him the values of nature and the crucialness of life. It made Eris view fire as a destroyer of those values, therefore, he never trained himself in the ability. He is very hesitant towards learning it despite the benefits it may have. Cat Shifting -- Advanced The ability to shift into a feline form, allowing the human user to change shape. Everything about turning into a cat attracted Eris to the notion. Frequently, he found the ability useful for hiding from his parents to go and visit his grandmother. Furthermore, his cat form tends to be quicker because of the litheness of cats. Unlike most cats, Eris’ tail tip has a pointed arrow-like shape, making his bakeneko ties clear. When shifting into cat form, it takes Eris approximately 20 seconds and during this time he is vulnerable to attack. Similarly, because of the small nature of his shift, people are easily capable of picking him up without a struggle. Should he get severely injured in cat form, Eris will automatically shift back into human form and be unable to shift for about two weeks. Enhanced Speed -- Intermediate The ability to enhance one’s speed beyond the regular levels of the human species. As somebody with feline ties, Eris is a speedy one. He can run extremely fast should he wish to sprint away from someone, or perhaps, if he is running late on an errand. Due to his boundless energy, this ability will at times activate on accident. Effectively, his emotions and desires can result in unwanted activation to full-fill those needs. If he wished to run away from someone, his enhanced speed may activate or if he wanted to win a race, it may speed him up. There is a dastardly downside to Eris’ enhanced speed, the most prominent being the requirement to stop. When he is running at those speeds, it is difficult to abruptly stop, which sometimes sends him barrelling into walls or getting himself hurt from a tumble. Natural: Death Sensory, Enhanced Dexterity, Enhanced Senses, Fire Immunity backstory Eris Raziel Abner was born to a pair of bakenekos in a long-standing line of Assembly members on his mother’s side. From the beginning, there were expectations weighed upon the young child from his mother and her ancestors. They expected a future soldier, or a medic or maybe even a young informant in the making, but little were they aware of what they received. From the beginning, Eris was forced to learn the necessities of the Assembly and listen to his parents’ insistence on Zeredah’s way being the best. There was always a distant manner his parents referred to him from the beginning as they whispered words of Assembly gospel into his ears. In their eyes, Zeredah’s grandiose words meant everything, and they were the martyrs willing to sacrifice it all for her happiness. They insisted on it, placed him into a trance with their adamance of those beliefs. They wanted a puppet, not a child. Rather than allow their child to grow and develop into his own person, they sank their talons and attempted to control destiny. What they wanted was a capable Assembly member, therefore, they forced it. Alas, they failed to brainwash the impressionable young child into believing the Assembly of Phantom because of a single idolized person, his grandmother. Sochi Kiba Abner was Eris’ babysitter and grandmother. Unlike the other members of the family, she abstained from the war, playing a neutral party. Her free-spirited lifestyle warranted plenty of time for her to babysit her grandson unlike the grandparents on his mother’s side. From his early years, he remembered his grandmother and her teachings. They played together, his grandmother showing him to dance and arts and crafts. She made him things, like pieces of precious jewelry with homemade charms. There was no magic in the pieces, but for Eris, it was an incredible experience. It brought a strong connection between them, these little things his grandmother showed him. Thus, when the time arrived, Sochi counterbalanced and began teaching Eris about the TRS. She wanted her grandson to have the best change possible, therefore, she taught him morals, taught him about Zeredah’s true goals and aspired for him to become his own young man. These were the beginnings of Eris’ true development as his grandmother influenced those crucial needs. They attended nature walks, Sochi showing him the brilliance of life and significance of nature. Everywhere they strolled, there was something new to see. A world coloured in liveliness and beauty shown in the time spent with his grandmother, a drastic contrast to the regularly dreary world of his parents. It began the hesitance in accepting the beliefs and words of his parents. Through his childhood, strict training was implemented as his parents mentioned potential jobs for the mere child. Corporal punishment common as his parents would spank the young boy should he failure to meet their expectations. School chatter consisted of similar experiences as Eris found himself the victim of bullying for his differing beliefs and faith in the Assembly. Everybody was bigger than him… everybody planned to join the Assembly… nobody felt the concerns and distrust estilled into him from his grandmother. As Eris showed a lack of skill for being a soldier, his parents taught him the “worth” of being an informant for the “prestigious” group. Alas, the young 8 year was hesitant and voiced his concerns softly for carrying out this work. Neutrality had been a thought, to join his grandmother in the ideals of peace... The sharp slap of his angered mother collided with his face. Eyebrows slanted down, face twisted into a deep scowl filled with wrinkles of anger. She screamed at him, insisting him foolish, idoitic and disloyal to the cause of Zeredah. For minutes she raved about his duties, openly showing a mere child her displeasures. Tears brimmed in Eris’ eyes as the gentlest squeak of an apology escaped his frightened, quivering lips. As punishment, the young boy was sent to bed without supper. From there, he never voiced those concerns to his parents and instead hid in the comfort of his grandmother at the first opportunity. She calmed him, informed him to tread carefully, else he would get swallowed by the beast. When the time arrived, she would lead him to Lorsette, where the TRS held precedence. For despite her wisdoms, she required the necessary funds to safely bring her grandchild into the city. The years proceeded, each step being taken as Eris' understanding of the Assembly increased and its abyssmal wishes. Those desires for something cultivated by his grandmother only festered until after his 15th birthday, Eris voiced his concerns. He wanted freedom from his sorrowful situation... he wanted to improve the attitudes of his parents, save them from Zeredah’s foolish choices. He explained grandma’s teachings, showed them what he believed matter... and lost the one person who mattered. He remembered receiving a spank and being sent to bed early. Alas, a final stinging remark bore into his heart as Eris’ heard his mother scream that he would never see Grandma Sochi again. Tears rolled down the young boy’s cheeks as he begged not to lose the most important individual in his life. His mother glared, hand curling around his arm as she roughly dragged him into his room and threw him inside. He ran for the door, but his mother stuck a chair beneath the knob. Curled fists pounded against the door as Eris screamed for release. Cheeks turned red and sore as he desperately attempted to escape... Hours passed as a disheartened Eris curled onto the floor, sniffling in the fetal position. When the door opened, he turned to discover his mother standing there, still displeased. He threw himself at her feet, pleading to see his grandmother again. She gave him everything! They would run away together, start a life in Lorsette and finally live peacefully. You will never see her again, grandma Sochi... had an accident. Those vile words to escape the villain's lips turned his insides cold... An accident... the term for death, a menacing threat stated vaguely. No. It repeatedly escaped his lips. He refused to believe it, but as his mother left, no other words he knew the truth... Grandma Sochi died at the hands of his parents. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following weeks were among the loneliness of Eris’ life as melancholy encompassed him. During school, the young boy was distant, unable to focus because of the abrupt death of the grandmother he cherished. Home life was frightening as his mother watched over his shoulder, snapping at any small error. They refused him the right to view the funeral, to even visit his grandmother’s grave... He tried after school, but they always watched where she was buried and punished him for coming near. He felt suffocated, as though a vice grip constricted his body and refused to allow his leave, but as the morning of an early June, he decided things would change. He packed his goods, went to school and afterwards, changed direction. Patterns were abandoned as he headed towards the highway that would lead him to Lorsette. He would honour Grandma Sochi and change his life rather than follow expectation. He hitch-hiked there, making people believe his parents were in the city and him? He had a bad evening at a friend’s house. People were inclined to believe him. The effects of missing his grandmother left him misty eyed and scared. Therefore, his hitch-hiking brought him to the infamous Lorsette where he walked the concrete sidewalks with merely a backpack. He followed directions from strangers until he finally approached the Terror Response Syndicate headquarters. Upon entry, he told the receptionist his story, how he wanted to become a better person and every shred of information his parents fed him. There was surprise on their faces as they began making arrangements for Eris. First, he lived in the student dorms until finally being arranged to live with a TRS member. He was enrolled in a new school and began doing errands for the TRS on the side.
