Silence enveloped around Fritz who remained held up in his corner, listening, observing and praying. Common chatter filled the air, some frightened fools joking around in hopes of calming their nerves; small, nervous laughter. Faces filled the room, eyes displaying a small array of varying emotions; fear, bravery and solemness depending on the experience or personality of the warrior. Wordless prayers echoed through the reaper’s man, a desperate hope nobody decided to request the brunette’s presence. Easily he could imagine her face, the beautiful woman who deserved a more peaceful life, yet, proceeded to follow him across the globe. Those adamant claims of soulmates keeping her close alongside his endless concerns for her safety. From the voices he attentively eavesdropped on, there were no signs of his incredible friend’s voice; an inaudible sigh of relief escaped his covered lips. These were the types of missions where his worry would never rest considering the enemy remained unknown and evidently dangerous, obvious by the unfortunate casualties. Despite the impending peril once he entered the fray, Fritz managed to remain surprising calm, although, serious. Thousands of years in battle-hardened the warrior, adjusting him to the horrendous sights and consequences of defending others.

The conversations proceeded as hunters waited to be properly sorted, each preparing for the frightening fight which inevitably awaited. Most people decided to spend their time socializing, however, Fritz remained by his lonesome. The ancient warrior was renown for his preference for quietness and generally being alone. Carefully, the reaper's eyes scanned the room, although, everything appeared average until finally, he caught a glimpse of another individual. White hair, an eye covered by a headband and a familiar appearance; somebody significant. The man approached, Fritz analyzing him and promptly recognizing the man as a sergeant, specifically of his own unit. Instinctively, the reaper straightened, posturing himself to provide a more professional air. The question was answered with a simple nod. Afterwards, the introduction was provided, the sergeant giving his name, August Young, a name which sounded familiar. A request for reciprocation for a name was expected, Fritz's eyes remaining locked on the other.

"Fritz Jacobs," he answered briefly.

There was no additional information given to the sergeant, the reaper required a prompt to proceed in conversation. Under most circumstances, Fritz preferred to work alone, however, he already knew nobody would allow him to remain a solo unit. The enemy was unknown, something they were expected to track down, discover and radio in immediately. Based on reports, the mysterious terror was powerful and lacked thorough information to allow hunters to survive with ease. Furthermore, the ancient warrior's species would keep individuals wary considering losing his temperature regulating bracelets could become a nasty consequence. Reapers possessed those pesky difficulties with extreme weather conditions after all.

The wind howled wildly outside, the blizzard arriving as expected, but creating power outages across Lorsette alongside a variety of other unexpected problems for the Terror Response Syndicate to handle. There were beliefs of Assembly of Phantoms involvement in the recent affairs plaguing the city, particularly the recent casualties which managed to get reported. Evidently, there was something suspicious happening in Lorsette during the blizzard. There was evidence, the monstrously sized footprints in the snow alongside strange behaviours occurring in the dangerous winter weather. Thus, despite his species being ill-suited for extreme weather conditions, Fritz was requested to come into work. The circumstances around the mission resulted in a sensibility to calling for the assistance of a TRS elite hunter, and one who has been around since the beginning nonetheless. The primary reason for his lack of promotion was the numerous transfers he underwent because of his endless wanderlust before finally settling in Lorsette. Minutes were taken working towards properly dressing, the treacherous journey being unnecessary considering Fritz decided to remain at headquarters after an extensive day of work. There was a safety from the frigid temperatures due to the efforts of various TRS members.

There was always time spared by the reaper to assure he could survive the temperatures, Fritz being well-aware of the risk factors which arrived with recklessness towards proper dressing; especially in the dangerous 70 mph winds. The special edition jackets, ski pants, gloves and various other cold weather necessities were handed out, the ancient warrior tugging the hefty pieces of clothing. Beneath his clothes was a trio of temperature regulation charms, the blue-haired man thankful he brought one of his own for extra protection against the elements. A thick TRS mandated jacket hugged his shoulders, the dark navies and black colours making the red accents contrast against them. Across the back was the regular impact font, stating TRS alongside the HUNTING DIVISION as expected. On the front displayed the unit and nametag worn at all times by affiliates of the TRS. Carefully, Fritz adjusted the belt which held the scabbard of his broadsword, tightening it around the outside of the thick clothing. The hefty weapon would arrive with the consequence of additional weight, but Fritz knew the sword was a necessity.

Practicing swordsmanship for centuries resulted in the reaper refusing to leave the weapon behind, the sword being the single component which made him useful. While he lacked the physical enhancements to allow for more extreme blows, Fritz managed to make up for it with skillfulness and quick thinking. A harsh training regiment assisted in making the ancient warrior useful despite his lacking in useful magic; especially considering necromancy required dead bodies to be in the area. Hastily, the reaper adjusted the layers beneath as needed, creating comfort and flexibility for movement since without it, he knew his death would rapidly approach for a second time. Once prepared to face the frigid temperatures, the ancient warrior exited the changing room, heading towards the assigned meeting area for hunters of the second unit. He moved quickly, strides long as he tugged the toque tighter onto his head and brought the hood up, tugging on the drawstrings and adjusting them as needed.

There were plenty of people being escorted around the TRS headquarters only a mere few minutes after the reaper finished preparing himself for battle. A few were TRS affiliates while others were citizens dressed in thick clothing, those who likely risked their safety in hopes of reaching the headquarters or perhaps those who arrived prior to the blizzard. Gradually, Fritz weaved his way through, most avoiding the tall man with a sword buckled around his waist. As the ancient warrior began approaching the briefing location, he remained uncertain on whether or not he wished to see Vashti on the other side of the door. While the brunette was a graduated hunter, she could be horribly reckless, and considering the dangerous circumstances of the mission, he hoped she was safely at home or perhaps resting somewhere else in the facility. The reaper cared immensely about his former apprentice and closest friend, thus he wished she would remain somewhere safe rather than involved in unit two's mission. Eventually, he arrived at the briefing room, where information would be provided in regards to the mission.

Upon entry, Fritz surveyed the room, however, the thick clothing the hunters were expected to wear made it impossible for the reaper to notice Vashti should she have been inside the room. A sigh escaped the elite hunter's lips in response as he moved to the far corner, leaning against the wall to observe the crowd, praying he would not witness the brunette's face amidst the hunters working to defend Lorsette on this frigid day.

These were the moments where Fritz worried about Vashti, these instances where she became reckless and received an injury. While he similarly chose brash plans with horrible consequences, he refused to allow the brunette to accomplish a similar fate. The reaper wished for nobody to feel the harsh reality of everybody of significance being lost by horrible people; he would never forget the destruction of his village. The blue-haired warrior watched his apprentice sit on the bleachers instead of deciding to follow him to the medical ward, which prompted him to reach for her arm. Softly, he tugged, attempting to force Vashti to stand, the reaper intending to lead the brunette to the medical ward for healing, but his apprentice resisted. There was a tug in the opposite direction, the ancient warrior narrowing his eyes as he glanced back towards the woman, displeased with the no she provided in response. An annoyed sigh escaped his lips as he prepared to tug harder, but before he could accomplish the action, a pair of words were mumbled out, narrowly heard by Fritz.

A moment was spared to stare at the brunette, the elite hunter noticing her tiredness as it was mentioned. There was a frown which graced his lips before Fritz released her arm, wrapping his around her in a suitable fashion to pick Vashti up bridal style.

"You should really be more careful, Vashti," he began. "I worry about you sometimes. You work yourself to the bone, and that won't make you healthy."

Once Fritz had a proper grip on his apprentice, he turned to head towards the large double doors of the gym, backing into them while holding the brunette close. When they were through, he began to walk, heading outside of the training centre; somebody, fortunately, passing by to open the door instead. He proceeded to carry Vashti to the main building, heading into the medical ward, taking her to the front desk and explaining how his apprentice managed to injure her hand. Directions were given, Fritz obeying them to take Vashti to a quiet room where an examination cot was, which he slowly set her down onto for while they waited for a ward medic.

The potential victory was becoming closer to Fritz's grasp with each motion he made in a hopeful attempt to complete the battle. Ceasing the battle was necessary, those injuries remaining in the reaper's mind as he attempted to successfully become the victor before the damage became worse. When the blue-haired man attempted to smack Vashti's hip, but the blow was blocked by her sword. The swords met, a clang of metal against metal erupting inside the gym as their prolonged fight proceeded, much to Fritz's dislike. He desired for the brunette to yield on account of the horrible wound inflicted on her hand by handling the sword's blade. There was the sound of panting from Vashti, the reaper raising a brow as he realized he may have finally tired his opponent, which Fritz knew would work in his favour. Slowly arrived the familiar sounds of a sword being returned to its sheath, the ancient warrior observing the event; he was the victor to the sparring match. Once everything was calmed and quiet, the reaper straightened his posture before smoothly sheathing his own blade.

A moment, the sheer mentioning of the notion of a meagre pause before the sparring proceeded resulted in the elite hunter shooting a glare at his apprentice. The sparring was over, especially considering Vashti required medical attention for her injured hand alongside some time to heal. Finally, the ancient warrior was warranted a good look at the brunette, allowing him to notice how tired the woman was. It was obvious Vashti required extensive rest on account of her injury and her apparent tiredness.

"The lesson is over, you are not at your strongest," Fritz stated adamantly. "The Vashti I know would have made a tougher opponent than that. You also got injured, which means we are going to the ward to get you bandaged up."

Based on tone alone, anybody could realize "no" was not a provided answer considering the authoritative nature of each spoken word. The ancient warrior took a few steps forward, reaching for the brunette's arm with the intention of gently tugging her down the hallway. With their lesson completed, the reaper wanted to avoid harming his dearest friend.

Sparring matches were designed for practicing and developing the skills of warriors, however, injuries still occurred; evident by the flecks of pale scar tissue across Fritz’s knuckles. Wounds were a sign to yield in favour of getting provided medical service. While there would be hunters pushing themselves beyond their breaking point, it remained crucial to allow sparring to maintain the tension by allowing a single critical hit to be declared the end of the match. Unfortunately, the brunette refused to be finished with today’s lesson, based on the stance she provided in response alongside her words. A gentle sigh escaped the reaper’s lips as he maintained a tight grip on his broadsword. The ancient warrior desired for the sparring to cease, but it appeared he would be required to defend himself until he could drag Vashti away for medical aid. There was a slight narrowing of his brilliant blue as determination encompassed his resolve. When it arrived at the battle, Fritz held a steely attitude towards achieving victory at all costs. There was a slight bend to the blue-haired man’s needs as he prepared for the incoming combatant. The reaper desperately hoped Vashti would not make her injury worse through proceeding in the sparring match. When the brunette rushed towards him, Fritz was prepared to do everything he could to cease their practice session.

The swing arrived, the ancient warrior taking a few quick steps back to avoid the sharp edge. When a brief moment of safety was provided as Vashti’s sword passed, the reaper moved to counter to her right side. He adjusted his blade, hoping to have the flat section collide with her hip; he wanted to limit himself to bruising her rather than creating cuts.

The unexpected move was met with success, bringing a brief smirk across Fritz’s lips, but it left quickly. There was a loud clang as the broadsword’s pommel slammed hard against the hilt of Vashti’s sword. He expected to hear the clatter of the brunette’s sword against the hard gymnasium floor, but it never arrived. The reaper lifted a brow, glancing back to notice his apprentice grab the blade of her sword. The sharp edge of her blade cut into flesh, welling blood and allowing the red liquid to dribble down onto the floor. Small puddles littered the location Vashti grabbed the sword’s blade, Fritz’s eyes narrowing slightly as his concerns for his friend grew. It was evidently the brunette was willing to resort to reckless actions to proceed with their sparring match, her determination both admirable and frightening. There were times when maintaining an iron resolve could result in being taken into a dangerous situation. The ancient warrior knew a steely attitude towards battle could bring negative side effects, Fritz possessing a similar trait.

The reaper watched as the brunette backed away, although, Fritz remained rather motionless, only turning to watch. He kept his broadsword hefted in his hand, observing the woman's moments. Since their match was merely a spar, the ancient warrior admittedly believing everything was over; once somebody got hurt, he considered the match done. The makeshift bandage was impressive, but Fritz refused to move from is the position, remaining still.

"What are you doing? You're injured which means this is done and I am taking you to the ward," Fritz stated. "Those were the rules you wished for me to abide by, and I expect you to do similar."

The ancient warrior stood tall, waiting for the woman's answer, hoping she would obey his commands. Unfortunately, with Vashti's extreme determination, the reaper doubted the notion. Blood graced the gymnasium, trailing towards the brunette, only ending once his apprentice wrapped her hand. When he heard the comment, Fritz tightened the grip on his sword, knowing he desired to cease this battle quickly. The blue-haired hunter prepared to parry the oncoming attack, bending his knees slightly in preparation.

The torrent of slashes was designed to create unpredictability in his attacking and defending. Throughout their engagement, it was evident Vashti would proceed to depend on her speed alongside some riskier maneuvers. They moved in a broad circle, the reaper speeding up his one-handed slashed to attempt to nick the brunette. Avoidance of significant damage was keen in sparring, especially considering this was meagre practice instead of the tense situations created through true battle. As their lessons proceeded, Fritz’s heart rate increased as adrenaline pumped through his veins. There remained a determined expression on his face as he pushed forward, ignoring any subtle complaints from his wounds. These were not significant enough to cause damage to his cuts nor defy his pain tolerance. The reaper was interrupted when Vashti rushed, her sword swiftly slashing towards his side. Hastily, the ancient warrior pulled away opposed to blocking, narrowing avoiding the sharp tip of her passing blade before suddenly getting extremely close to the brunette.

The grip on Fritz's sword was adjusted, the pointing reaching towards the sky before he brought his pommel down sharply on Vashti's hilt; he wanted to get her to release her blade. While these tactics would temporarily make their blades difficult to use due to closeness, the reaper knew disarming the brunette could perhaps lead to victory.
