Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,

Vashti had moved to the other side of the room, waiting for him to prepare for their next training, this time it would be combat with their swords. She had been too busy thinking about how tired she was to notice him checking over his wounds, he didn't appear in tire need of medical attention so she wouldn't take action at this time. Of course he had finished and went to retrieve his things to prepare for their next fight. Once he was across from her he had withdrew his sword, unlike her who had her hand currently on the hilt of her sword. He had beckoned her to come at him with his blade, within seconds she withdrew her sword before rushing towards him. His skill relies on strength as mine relies on speed. How could I go about gaining my opening? She thought to herself allowing thoughts to process a possible strategy in mind. She swung her sword to towards his side, knowing fully well that he'd likely block it. She wanted an idea of how he would possible fight her so that she could try and figure out a possibly opening.
Patience was given as Fritz awaited for Vashti's attack, the reaper aware of the woman's significantly improved speed. When certain powers hinged on the user's physical attributes, the ancient warrior found most fighters would sharpen those skills to the extreme. Possessing those skills would be in their better interest considering the strength they could unlock through the strategy, however, Fritz was required to consistently work his body. He held no physical enhancements or abilities which could consistently aid him on the battlefield, thus he relied heavily on instinct and his combat knowledge. He watched as the brunette rushed toward, sword primed for a horizontal slash to his side. Predictively, Fritz adjusted himself to block the blow, the swords colliding with a loud clang as metal hit metal. There was a determination on the ancient warrior's brow as he pulled away, withdrawing his sword before returning the strike. Strength was placed behind his blow, Fritz desiring to make blocking difficult on Vashti and her thinner, more agile weapon.
[break][break]
A mere gaze could allow an onlooker to realize the traits each fighter depended on; it was evident in their weaponry. The broadsword was heavier compared to Vashti's, evident by thicker metal in the centre. The reaper preferred the sword since he began fighting, particularly because of the weight and strength of the blade; his sword was better suited for blocking.

Vashti had rushed towards Fritz, preparing to slash at him horizontal, he had successfully blocked her attack with his sword. When Fritz had pulled away, she prepared for him to slash at her before blocking with her sword. He surprised her by putting more strength in her attack, forcing her to be pushed backwards as she held her sword against his. She suddenly pulled away, moving back quickly as to get some distance between them. He is relying on his strength again. Very well. She thought to herself before rushing towards him again with her sword in her hand. The sword was held in front of her as she prepared to come at him full on, only barely swinging to the side as she attempted to slash him in the chest, knowing he would likely read her move and block. She honestly couldn't see him taking a hint to prove her wrong. Assuming she was correct on his choice of move, she would suddenly pull away to attempt to off balance him before reaching out with the intend to smack his side with the palm of her hand. This was sword play, of course it was a dangerous bet, however, when dealing with an opponent, you sometimes had to take risky moves to win, this was hers.
Swordsmanship was an activity which Fritz refused to be beaten in considering his thousands of years studying and practicing the combat form. While he could still learn plenty from working hard, the ancient warrior took extreme pride in his skills with a broadsword. He aimed for a horizontal slash against Vashti, placing pressure behind his blade which forced her to retreat a few paces. The procedure was well-timed, an excellent move for the brunette who used a light-weight, less sturdy blade in comparison to his hefty broadsword. A tight grip was maintained on the handle of Fritz's sword, the ancient warrior keeping a comfortable grip on his weapon. Silently, with fixated eyes, he watched Vashti, waiting to see how she would proceed into attacking again. He witnessed Vashti adjust her sword, having it remain in front of which would make attacking from the front difficult for him considering the length of her blade; the light-weight blade could be given a few extra inches of length. As she rushed forward, Fritz scrutinized her movements, waiting for a subtle twitch to give himself insight into her plans.
[break][break]
When she slashed for his chest, Fritz blocked using the fuller of his blade while backpedalling a few steps to avoid the blade's tip. The ancient warrior began placing pressure on his blade, only to have his opponent suddenly pull away, opting to try and unbalance him. Similar movements had been used against the reaper, thus he managed to recover hastily, proceeding forward and feeling the subtle sensation of Vashti's hand where she attempted to hit him; a narrow miss. Abruptly, Fritz turned and rushed forward, accomplishing a series of horizontal slashes in hopes his sudden offensive procedure would make him less predictable. He wanted to push her against the wall with his series of quickly timed slashes, if she blocked, the reaper planned to quickly pull away to slash again.

Vashti's left hand released the sword, having only moments prior held the hilt with both of her hands. Though it meant she wouldn't have a strong grip, it also meant she would be even faster with her slashes. Fritz came at her before slashing, she blocked with her sword, each time his sword came at her in horizontal slashes. As to not stand in one place too long she found herself circling him, knowing that he was experienced to handle this technique but it wasn't going to stop her from trying to use it against him. When it seemed like she had a possible opening she rushed towards him, slashing her sword horizontally towards his side. If he managed to block as she expected from him, she would carefully place her left hand against her blade for extra strength in an attempt to throw him off. There are plenty of things I could try, but.... She paused for a moment, guilty of zoning out from feeling tired from her lack of sleep.
The torrent of slashes was designed to create unpredictability in his attacking and defending. Throughout their engagement, it was evident Vashti would proceed to depend on her speed alongside some riskier maneuvers. They moved in a broad circle, the reaper speeding up his one-handed slashed to attempt to nick the brunette. Avoidance of significant damage was keen in sparring, especially considering this was meagre practice instead of the tense situations created through true battle. As their lessons proceeded, Fritz’s heart rate increased as adrenaline pumped through his veins. There remained a determined expression on his face as he pushed forward, ignoring any subtle complaints from his wounds. These were not significant enough to cause damage to his cuts nor defy his pain tolerance. The reaper was interrupted when Vashti rushed, her sword swiftly slashing towards his side. Hastily, the ancient warrior pulled away opposed to blocking, narrowing avoiding the sharp tip of her passing blade before suddenly getting extremely close to the brunette.
[break][break]
The grip on Fritz's sword was adjusted, the pointing reaching towards the sky before he brought his pommel down sharply on Vashti's hilt; he wanted to get her to release her blade. While these tactics would temporarily make their blades difficult to use due to closeness, the reaper knew disarming the brunette could perhaps lead to victory.

Vashti hadn't expected him to get close to her, but once he was in range he had hit the hilt of her sword. Her right hand had released the sword, but she had finished zoning out to notice the sword falling so her left hand had reached out to catch the blade, refusing to let go even though she knew the sudden action would surely cut the palm of her hand in the process. As expected, her hand had caught the blade but because her grip hadn't been sturdy since it was falling towards the ground, it had sliced the palm of her hand open. Even with injury, I can't lose sight of my focus. I must keep going till it becomes impossible or I'm dead. She thought to herself, quickly grabbing the hilt with her right hand because the longer her left hand bled, the harder it was to hold her grip. She was quickly backed away from him.
She knew the training was likely going to be demanded as over, but this wasn't just about training. If he thought she would stop just because of a little cut, he would have another thing coming. An action that could be expected if I was really out there fighting for our cause, or even if I was on duty as an officer... She thought to herself, seeing as the option to pay for an new uniform was there, she never thought twice about tearing the bottom of it. Fabric was fabric after all and this training wasn't over. Not by a long shot. She wiped her left hand on her shirt to clean the blood before tearing the bottom of her shirt. She quickly wrapped the fabric around her left hand before once more shifting the hilt of her sword in both of her hands.
It hurts to hold my sword, but I wouldn't retreat if this fight was real and nobody, not even him can expect anything different from me. She thought to herself, with her sword held up she glanced towards Fritz. "Ready or not Fritz, here I come." She answered, refusing to take no for an answer as she rushed towards him. He better take her training seriously because despite her lack of sleep she was far from done.
The unexpected move was met with success, bringing a brief smirk across Fritz’s lips, but it left quickly. There was a loud clang as the broadsword’s pommel slammed hard against the hilt of Vashti’s sword. He expected to hear the clatter of the brunette’s sword against the hard gymnasium floor, but it never arrived. The reaper lifted a brow, glancing back to notice his apprentice grab the blade of her sword. The sharp edge of her blade cut into flesh, welling blood and allowing the red liquid to dribble down onto the floor. Small puddles littered the location Vashti grabbed the sword’s blade, Fritz’s eyes narrowing slightly as his concerns for his friend grew. It was evidently the brunette was willing to resort to reckless actions to proceed with their sparring match, her determination both admirable and frightening. There were times when maintaining an iron resolve could result in being taken into a dangerous situation. The ancient warrior knew a steely attitude towards battle could bring negative side effects, Fritz possessing a similar trait.
[break][break]
The reaper watched as the brunette backed away, although, Fritz remained rather motionless, only turning to watch. He kept his broadsword hefted in his hand, observing the woman's moments. Since their match was merely a spar, the ancient warrior admittedly believing everything was over; once somebody got hurt, he considered the match done. The makeshift bandage was impressive, but Fritz refused to move from is the position, remaining still.
[break][break]
"What are you doing? You're injured which means this is done and I am taking you to the ward," Fritz stated. "Those were the rules you wished for me to abide by, and I expect you to do similar."
[break][break]
The ancient warrior stood tall, waiting for the woman's answer, hoping she would obey his commands. Unfortunately, with Vashti's extreme determination, the reaper doubted the notion. Blood graced the gymnasium, trailing towards the brunette, only ending once his apprentice wrapped her hand. When he heard the comment, Fritz tightened the grip on his sword, knowing he desired to cease this battle quickly. The blue-haired hunter prepared to parry the oncoming attack, bending his knees slightly in preparation.

Vashti had ignored his comment, though it was true that she normally would respect his wish, she wanted to know how far she had come and that would require the healing to wait until she was good and finished. It was a good thing this was a sparring contest, else she held the risk of being killed on the spot. She had made the comment before rushing towards him, holding the hilt of her sword in both hands as to avoid losing her grip before swinging towards him. She knew this fight was coming to an end, she just wanted it to be based off of becoming too tired or deemed as unable. As far as she was concerned, neither was true at this current time. Besides, with this in mind, she had a pretty good idea that her friend planned on trying to end this sparring soon and she wanted to be the victory in the meantime. She found herself feeling tired, energy being drained and the lack of sleep were making it difficult for her to focus on the fight before her. It seemed to her, this fight would likely end in the next few minutes, one had to wonder by who's hand.
Sparring matches were designed for practicing and developing the skills of warriors, however, injuries still occurred; evident by the flecks of pale scar tissue across Fritz’s knuckles. Wounds were a sign to yield in favour of getting provided medical service. While there would be hunters pushing themselves beyond their breaking point, it remained crucial to allow sparring to maintain the tension by allowing a single critical hit to be declared the end of the match. Unfortunately, the brunette refused to be finished with today’s lesson, based on the stance she provided in response alongside her words. A gentle sigh escaped the reaper’s lips as he maintained a tight grip on his broadsword. The ancient warrior desired for the sparring to cease, but it appeared he would be required to defend himself until he could drag Vashti away for medical aid. There was a slight narrowing of his brilliant blue as determination encompassed his resolve. When it arrived at the battle, Fritz held a steely attitude towards achieving victory at all costs. There was a slight bend to the blue-haired man’s needs as he prepared for the incoming combatant. The reaper desperately hoped Vashti would not make her injury worse through proceeding in the sparring match. When the brunette rushed towards him, Fritz was prepared to do everything he could to cease their practice session.
[break][break]
The swing arrived, the ancient warrior taking a few quick steps back to avoid the sharp edge. When a brief moment of safety was provided as Vashti’s sword passed, the reaper moved to counter to her right side. He adjusted his blade, hoping to have the flat section collide with her hip; he wanted to limit himself to bruising her rather than creating cuts.

Vashti had swung her sword, watching Fritz take a few steps back. When his sword had swung back towards her, she slowly moved her sword to block his, blocking the side despite no danger being near her. Despite wanting to continue, she found herself panting quietly as to try and catch her breath. I guess I overworked myself.... darn it. She thought to herself, knowing that with his blade being angled, he likely had wanted to end the fight instead of letting her continue, which meant only one thing, he was likely going to try and drag her for medical treatment. It wouldn't be the first time and it likely would be the last either. She would back away, slowly placing her sword back in the sheath, though she couldn't continue fighting she honestly wasn't ready for this training to come to an end.
"All I need is a moment." She would mumble, knowing he'd likely ignore the comment. If it wasn't her pestering him for medical treatment, it was him pestering her. That was how their life seemed to work, with their life being intertwined, it could be expected however. She would tighten her hand into a fist. I have lost.... this isn't over Fritz, not by a long shot. With a sigh, she moved to sit on the bleachers, finding it much more comfortable than standing for it, failing to mention her tiredness was mostly based on her lack of sleep from the night before.
The potential victory was becoming closer to Fritz's grasp with each motion he made in a hopeful attempt to complete the battle. Ceasing the battle was necessary, those injuries remaining in the reaper's mind as he attempted to successfully become the victor before the damage became worse. When the blue-haired man attempted to smack Vashti's hip, but the blow was blocked by her sword. The swords met, a clang of metal against metal erupting inside the gym as their prolonged fight proceeded, much to Fritz's dislike. He desired for the brunette to yield on account of the horrible wound inflicted on her hand by handling the sword's blade. There was the sound of panting from Vashti, the reaper raising a brow as he realized he may have finally tired his opponent, which Fritz knew would work in his favour. Slowly arrived the familiar sounds of a sword being returned to its sheath, the ancient warrior observing the event; he was the victor to the sparring match. Once everything was calmed and quiet, the reaper straightened his posture before smoothly sheathing his own blade.
[break][break]
A moment, the sheer mentioning of the notion of a meagre pause before the sparring proceeded resulted in the elite hunter shooting a glare at his apprentice. The sparring was over, especially considering Vashti required medical attention for her injured hand alongside some time to heal. Finally, the ancient warrior was warranted a good look at the brunette, allowing him to notice how tired the woman was. It was obvious Vashti required extensive rest on account of her injury and her apparent tiredness.
[break][break]
"The lesson is over, you are not at your strongest," Fritz stated adamantly. "The Vashti I know would have made a tougher opponent than that. You also got injured, which means we are going to the ward to get you bandaged up."
[break][break]
Based on tone alone, anybody could realize "no" was not a provided answer considering the authoritative nature of each spoken word. The ancient warrior took a few steps forward, reaching for the brunette's arm with the intention of gently tugging her down the hallway. With their lesson completed, the reaper wanted to avoid harming his dearest friend.

Vashti sighed when Fritz stated that the lesson was over, shortly taking a seat despite knowing that Fritz was likely going to have words with her failing to get medical treatment. She was too tired to argue with him, however when he had moved towards her to reach for her arm, she tugged the opposite direction. "No...." The words came out a mumble, not really because she wanted to refuse medical treatment but because she was too tired to move from her spot and he likely planned on dragging her down there. "Carry me...." The words came out as a mumble. She felt prideful, but defeated at the same time. "I'm too tired." She added, not viewing soulmates as an excuse to get held, she just knew that if he wanted her to get the treatment, the easiest way would be to carry her unless he planned on waiting for her to gain some energy back first. If he was willing to carry her, she would allow him to pick her up before wrapping her arms carefully around his neck as to avoid possibly being dropped, though it wasn't a tight grip because she was too tired to make the effort.
These were the moments where Fritz worried about Vashti, these instances where she became reckless and received an injury. While he similarly chose brash plans with horrible consequences, he refused to allow the brunette to accomplish a similar fate. The reaper wished for nobody to feel the harsh reality of everybody of significance being lost by horrible people; he would never forget the destruction of his village. The blue-haired warrior watched his apprentice sit on the bleachers instead of deciding to follow him to the medical ward, which prompted him to reach for her arm. Softly, he tugged, attempting to force Vashti to stand, the reaper intending to lead the brunette to the medical ward for healing, but his apprentice resisted. There was a tug in the opposite direction, the ancient warrior narrowing his eyes as he glanced back towards the woman, displeased with the no she provided in response. An annoyed sigh escaped his lips as he prepared to tug harder, but before he could accomplish the action, a pair of words were mumbled out, narrowly heard by Fritz.
[break][break]
A moment was spared to stare at the brunette, the elite hunter noticing her tiredness as it was mentioned. There was a frown which graced his lips before Fritz released her arm, wrapping his around her in a suitable fashion to pick Vashti up bridal style.
[break][break]
"You should really be more careful, Vashti," he began. "I worry about you sometimes. You work yourself to the bone, and that won't make you healthy."
[break][break]
Once Fritz had a proper grip on his apprentice, he turned to head towards the large double doors of the gym, backing into them while holding the brunette close. When they were through, he began to walk, heading outside of the training centre; somebody, fortunately, passing by to open the door instead. He proceeded to carry Vashti to the main building, heading into the medical ward, taking her to the front desk and explaining how his apprentice managed to injure her hand. Directions were given, Fritz obeying them to take Vashti to a quiet room where an examination cot was, which he slowly set her down onto for while they waited for a ward medic.
