fritz jacobs tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance The body of a fighter is obvious when somebody first looks over Fritz. He is covered in numerous lean muscles. There is a slight bulk to his frame due to his muscles, but for the most part he keeps a lean appearance. Due to many hours spent training his body, Fritz does have abs. His skin is fair in colour, leaning more towards the tanned side due to years spent outside. Fritz possesses a tall frame and comes in at a height of 6’2”. Scars cover a majority of his body, but to not touch his face or neck with the exception of a few unnoticeable ones. This consists of a thin cut to his forehead (near the hairline) and a thin pale mark circling his neck from his execution. Tiny scars cover his hands and arms from years spent training in swordsmanship. His torso holds a majority of his scars while his legs possess the odd patch of pale scar tissue. The most prominent scars on his back are the large, pale ones that run down his back. These were created during his time in captivity and were caused by a whip. A majority of the scars on his torso were created while he was imprisoned by the army. Atop Fritz’s head is a mop of blue hair, often a little messy and kept back by a dark grey headband. His eyes are a sapphire blue and appear to glitter. This is often one of the first things people tend to notice about Fritz. They seem to be bright in contrast compared to the rest of his appearance. His eyes always seem to have a guarded look to them. He possesses no other facial blemishes with the exception of his scars Fritz’s clothing often leans to the old fashion type since he prefers loose linens and trousers better for moving around. He often wears simplistic coats opposed to sweaters and jackets whenever possible. Naturally, Fritz will wear those choices on occasion opposed to his old fashion style when required or on days he desires to do so. He has never been a person for formal wear, thus he only wears it when it is required. Oftentimes, Fritz is seen wearing his TRS uniform that possesses some altercations. Unlike the standard uniform, Fritz’s jacket has light weight armour plates sewed into the shoulders to protect him. Either way this makes Fritz’s coat heavier than average. Almost at all times, he is carrying his sword with him since the weapon and warrior pair have survived many confrontations together. There is always a temperature regulation charm around his wrist, he never takes it off and rarely lets people touch it. personality
abilities Soul Sensory --- passive --- advanced Fritz is capable of seeing souls in grayscale shades which allows him to know how innocent or corrupt people are. Usually he has to activate the ability himself, but it is prone to activating by itself when he is tired. Necromancy --- offensive/defensive --- advanced Despite having a stern hatred in this ability, Fritz has still trained it up incredibly. When it comes to control the dead, he can do it to an incredible degree. He can keep fluent movements between what he is controlling, even if there is more than one. This allows him to easily coordinate attacks. The main weak point in this is energy and focus. If Fritz is using too much energy or is in a physically/mentally exhausting scenario the power won’t work to its full potential. Coordinating things takes focus, so if Fritz is too distracted it will not function properly. Fear Inducement --- passive --- intermediate The only reason Fritz trained this ability was because it worked as a stun. When people first see him, they already feel a jolt of fear since he is a reaper. Activating his fear inducement causes people to feel terrified of what is around them or to witness their worst nightmares. Being only intermediate when it is active does bring some repercussions. While inducing fear actively, Fritz needs to focus on one person; he cannot use it on multiple. He also can’t seem to pry into their deepest, darkest nightmares. Seance --- passive --- intermediate When it comes to Fritz’s seance abilities he is limited to summoning souls in order to speak with them. He is unable to control them, but can speak with them. The more strong-willed the soul, the harder it is to summon. Soul Manipulation (minor) --- passive --- advanced Oftentimes, this was trained for those moments when Fritz was in a tight space. Sometimes tipping someone’s moral scales to the good side does help to get out of being killed. He does require to touch the person, and once it is established can alter their morals to a slight degree. This does not work when Fritz is tired or feeling emotional. backstory Trigger Warning: Violence, mention of torture, mental/physical abuse It began a time before the clashing of steel... Fritz was born in a human village a few years before the beginning of the War of Traitors, although, he was very young. At this age, there had been many enemies and once the boy had gotten kidnapped by a traveller, but was later saved by his parents. What happened during his captivity is unknown due to his young age. The young boy was in the crossfires of the war being merely an Earth species at time the time. His parents feared for the village’s safety constantly alongside their young child’s. Life was difficult due to the war’s impact, the entire village suffering from the effects caused by both sides. Some soldiers of the armies would raid their village and take supplies, all of this occurring when Fritz was merely a boy. With a lack of guards, the villagers were incapable of protecting themselves from the continuous raids. Each time, the guards would insist about it and once it had turned into a brawl that was lost by the village. Due to this, Fritz trained hard and all his effort from a teachable age was given to learning the art of the sword. His father trained him, the guards trained him and anybody else who could teach the boy something new trained him. Traveling mercenaries, former soldier and even those with the most insignificant of techniques was begged for training. Gradually, Fritz’s body grew into a forge of lean, strong muscles and his mind became sharpened by instincts and tactfulness. Once he felt his training was complete, he joined the guard in his village and vowed to protect those within it. Thus, the next time the gang of raiders came, Fritz challenged the leader of the group to a battle without abilities with an agreement that if he won, they would leave and if they won then the village would passively hand over anything they wanted. In a clever manner the young man convinced the leader that certainly if they was such a great warrior, then they could definitely defeat him. With a cackle the leader had agreed, arrogance winning them over, which led to a fight contained in a special charmed circle that disabled abilities. Blades were clashed and the pair were fighting for what seemed like ages which caused the people around them to remain tense. Loss for the village possibly meant death coming winter and the loss of a valiant warrior, but desperation was simply too high. As the battle progressed, odds seemed to favour the leader which brought fear for the village. More time was spent fighting, until in a burst of adrenaline and bravery, Fritz drove the leader back. Blows were varied, Fritz’s strikes became quicker and more lethal, the leader having used too much of their energy in the beginning. In one swift slash it ended, resulting in the leader’s death and victory in favor of the village. As time went on, each group of raiders were challenged and defeated by Fritz with his cleverness and adept sword skill. However, paradise never lasts and revenge is a fickle thing… and ended in fire and blood... Some people are vindictive, but none of the villagers had expected the lengths it went to for them. Late into the evening the village was attacked, fires were set to the homes and men, women and children alike were cut down at the hands of the vicious attackers. There was screaming everywhere as another unfortunate soul got killed in the nightmarish atmosphere. The guards fought hard, Fritz included, but victory seemed an impossibility and far beyond reach. No matter how hard anybody fought, the enemies seemed to only increase in numbers. Eventually, a majority of the village was killed and the army captured the main culprit to the victories, Fritz. They tied him up, refusing to release him under the pretense of their vengeance. They dragged him to the village center where the battles were fought and brought his mother, father and little sister. Each were tortured before being killed in front of the brave warrior, causing his emotional state to plummet. He tried struggling from the binds that held him, his wrists bleeding due to rubbing against the rope. Afterwards, they dragged Fritz through the village where he saw friends and allies dead on the streets, smelt the burning of the homes he grew to know and saw everything around him being destroyed. It caused him to cry, but each time a whimper or whine was released his captures would hit him and constantly give him criticism, yell and do just about anything to break him mentally. Eventually, Fritz’s body became covered and bruises and cuts from the vicious assaults laid upon him. When they returned to the army’s main base, Fritz was treated like a slave all in claim to their revenge. Yet, the fighting spirit within the tortured man could not be vanquished easily and shortly he began retaliating against his captures. The soldiers within the base soon realized that Fritz was becoming a burden, but still desired to taste the sweetness of their revenge. Thus, more brutal torture came about while they made preparation as a final attempt to salvage use from the man. This failed spectacularly and Fritz only seemed to rebel more and even attempted to convince the other people within captivity to fight back. It made the his captors decide that it was required to kill the young man in an attempt to remedy the situation. The day remains in Fritz’s memories as he and the other prisoners were taken from the ramshackle captives area and out into the center of camp. They were lined up shoulder to shoulder while the leader of the establishment walked up and down a few times. Shortly, Fritz was yanked out of the line with the statement of “this is what happens to trouble,” being shouted. Naturally, the young man struggled against it, but his body had grown weak due to days of malnourishment and beatings. Thus, it was not long before he thrown to the ground, beaten and slowly executed by his captives. As the lights went out and he was finally graced with death, Fritz thought it had finally ended, but fate had other plans for him as a curse from years ago was invoked... but was resurrected from the cruel hearted... Weeks after the young man died, he found himself standing before a mysterious figure in a milky grey fog. Confusion was where is started, as the figure drew closer and revealed the face hidden beneath a cloak of black. Only had Fritz ever seen him in depictions of his so-called greatness, but standing before him was the God of Purgatory. Words of a curse were spoken, from years ago. At first, the warrior was bemused due to the concept of being curse since no memories remained of such an occasion, however, all was shortly explained. During his kidnapping as an infant, the mysterious traveller had cursed Fritz to return as a reaper a short while after death as a final act of cruelty. The realization was heartbreaking since it brought conclusion that he would never see his family again and he would be doomed to wander Earth for eternities. He begged Thanatos to somehow undue the curse, to permit him to remain in Purgatory so he no longer had to suffer on the harsh plain of Earth, but the curse was set. The rules of cursed magic had to be abided by since events unfolded that caused its activation. An apology from the God of Purgatory was given before everything went black in the milky fog world. When Fritz’s eyes fluttered open, he was lying beneath a tree in a field of golden flowers that had not met the cruelness of war. At first, the young man was unmoving as his thoughts kept dwelling on his misfortune. After how broken his living life had been, he viewed Earth as a place of pain and suffering because of the war. The moping continued for hours as the newly made reaper watched the branches sway above and thought about what he could do. Soon, he discovered his resolve and rose from the ground. At his side a final token of goodwill was left, the sword he formerly fought with as a guard; perhaps a kindness of Thanatos or the curse giver had planned this. Either option did not matter as the man hefted the sword and swore to protect the people of Earth from the war. Training started anew, his abilities starting to sharpen and grow stronger in order to be successful. Swords skills were practiced over and over alongside the skills of various other weapons like bows, axes and just about anything that could possibly be used. His body was re-trained to become the lean, muscular figure it had before since it was a requirement to Fritz. Once the training saw completion, Fritz’s plan moved onto stage two which consisted of gathering mercenaries and fighters to work alongside him. Most were wary at first, a natural reaction considering his reaper status. As weeks went on, he had a large band of mercenaries and fighters who desires to see the war’s end. The wheels began to turn from there, Fritz knowing exactly what he wanted to do with the people he gathered. despite the world’s coldness, a hero came with the return.... The hero work had began with the small camp where he had been held captive since he knew there were still people who needed help there. Thus, the group headed out in that direction and began gradually whittling the troops down. They attacked in secret, causing people to die all around for their sins. Soon, they attacked and began vanquishing the people of the encampment; those who tortured the poor prisoners and treated them like slaves. The leader of the establishment was confused, until he saw Fritz amidst the fighters and felt a pang of fear. It became obvious from that point that the young man had been transformed into a reaper. Eventually, the pair met in battle as the leader exclaimed about how he was going to remove Fritz from existence altogether. Metal and metal clashed for a while, until Fritz was force to activate his newly given abilities. The bodies of the deceased grabbed onto the man’s ankles and caused a lack of movement. Shortly, the reaper was successful and defeated him. Afterwards the various captives were freed and Fritz led his group of warriors through Earth to defend the villages plagued by horrors of the war. The places pillaged by the more horrendous of soldiers opposed by visited by nobles. They were natural fighters, but also enemies to both armies. Bounties were laid on their heads, Fritz’s being the most expensive since it was hoped that should he be captured the operation would crumble. A band of justice seeking vigilantes is what they had become. For the entirety of its operation, Fritz led the group. He constantly lost and hired new people to work with him. As time went on, the group become more successful and was an elite band of fighters. They continued keeping people safe until the war ended. Once the war ended, the fighters disbanded which left the young reaper alone to figure out the next step in his life. It was decided that following a similar path would be best, thus, Fritz became a mercenary for hire who would assist those who he deemed innocent. Sometimes he would even go lengths to assist with other menial tasks when the man had some spare time. For the most part though, Fritz was rather cold and distant. He had no desire to grow close to new people after losing everything he was familiarized with the night his village was slaughter. Despite this, people would still ask for his assistance whenever they required it. He enjoyed helping people despite never openly displaying it on his face. and heroes will always be needed... Years passed and as times changed, Fritz adapted to live peacefully in the ever changing world. Even as he was forced to leave the concept of being a wandering vigilante, it was not necessarily a bother. The time was taken to explore new talents and find different ways to assist those around him. He began playing music for some establishments that required it and performed odd jobs for those who required it. A majority of his time was spent traveling the world and enjoying the peace while it lasted. When the terror epidemic began, Fritz settled for only a few months for apprenticing before continuing on as hunter. He was a natural born fighter, allowing him to complete training with fluent and high grades. Only a little over a year did Fritz became an elite hunter due to both skill and leadership capabilities, however, he never moved higher due to his wanderlust at the time. He craved to explore the world for some more time since he was a natural adventurer. As he traveled, he would assist people and save them from the monsters known as terrors. Eventually, he ended up in London where he found a girl being attacked by a troublemaker and naturally intervened before she could meet Thanatos. The creature was a low rank terror, thus the battle went by quickly and the troublemaker was soon disposed of. Yet, something odd lingered in the back of his mind. A sensing of her presence and of her wounded status, but he believed it to be nothin and brushed it away. As time went on, he found the woman was keen on following him. At first, Fritz was not bothered until he began to realize that she would follow him anywhere he went. Despite the creepiness of the scenario, the pair grew to be friends. When he was finished with his time in London, the young man ventured to Lorsette with Vashti (the woman he saved) on his heels. He settled in Lorsette not longer after moving there since it seemed to have concentrated terror activity. He had been there ever since. misc - Likes: Swords, sparring, helping innocent people, reading, music, learning about combat techniques/new skills, being alone, night, winter - Dislikes: Evil, senseless fighting, war, terrors, loud places, heavy metal, being a reaper/immortal, curses - Fears: Fire, being tortured again, getting close to people, loss, death - Fritz is a surprisingly amazing singer.
