Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

season
Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Alcohol settled the nerves once the liquid poison seeped into the bloodstream and intoxicated the brain. Worries disappeared, a calming cradle of fuzzy thinking enveloping the individual. A sloppy smile twitched on Kaitlynn's lips, semi-weary because of intoxication and recent fighting efforts. The intoxicated grin remained as another swig of the soda and alcohol brew touched her lips and bubbled over her tongue. Condensation moistened her bottom lips, ice cubes quietly clinking as she tasted her favoured drink. Giddy laughs escaped her lips, Kaitlynn hunching over the table as the glass returned to its station. An elbow was propped onto the counter, cheek placed into her hand while her purple eyes admired Sonya. The exotic woman always caught Kaitlynn's eye, her figure, unique skin colour and gorgeous long hair being merely the stepping stones for why she found her attractive.
There was a fiery spark in the snake-like woman which caught Kaitlynn's attention quickly. A broad grin remained on the sergeant's lips as she giggled at Sonya's comment about her not being handsy because of danger. Mischief crawled onto the angel's face, her eyes narrowing slightly as her lips curled into a wider grin.
"Hmm, may still have to risk it," she stated with a smirk. "I doooooo love my strong girlfriend."
The words were quiet, a slight tone of attempted seductiveness coating them where possible; a drunken Kaitlynn was never particularly godly with her flirting. Furthermore, the influences of intoxication made clear thinking impossible, especially as more alcohol entered her siblings. Whenever the glass began drying up, the angel signaled the barkeep with a waving hand and the pleasant fizzle of soda mixing with alcohol would fill her ears. Reputations hardly mattered to Kaitynn, her strong, independent attitude alongside her enjoyment of roughhousing usually getting the message across to those who challenged her. Reckless, the word which described her frequently because of her over-protective attitude. She would rather receive injury than allow another teammate to possibly be wounded. Her gaze locked onto Sonya's wounded arm when she mentioned not being as handsy.
"Oh honey, I would gladly make up for that," she murmured to attempt to lighten the mood.
Darkness invaded their conversation as a serious tone drifted over their side of the main counter. People played darts, happily laughing as they enjoyed their beer and participated in games. The clacks of pool balls rolling across a table were background noise as Kaitlynn listened to Sonya's words. A soft sigh escaped Kaitlynn's lips as she resigned herself to silence and instead took another swig of alcohol. Sometimes even she was clueless about what to say when faced with the grim reality of their battles. Not all of them proceeded cleanly after all, even with all their training and capability.
Hastily, they gathered, a group of dust-covered hunters with hints of sweat shining on their brows from recent combat. Orders were followed, their goal to protect the sergeant's current location successfully accomplished because of the strenuous labour. Effort was evident, each wearing their share of thick, black dust clinging to their uniforms. Line formation was accomplished promptly in a neat, tidy format uncharacteristic to the rough and tough unit two. While they were infamous for their strength, they functioned closely to a military unit with protocols and everything. Currently, the sergeant was quite pleased since the pressured circumstances were removed from her shoulders; a successful assignment always bettered her mood. Unfortunately, her hunters appeared displeased with the situation. Their patrol was interrupted because of these foolish shenanigans. Glares were evident on their faces, annoyance being an obvious trait.
The sergeant ignored their expressions and proceeded to speak, "We're escorting William back to base then returning on our patrol."
Outraged responses escaped their lips, the hunters demanding to know several pieces of information. Why was the assumed spy not handcuffed? The question was entirely fair, their intent on capturing somebody planning to harm the TRS being their fighting fuel.
"From what I have gathered, he lives inside headquarters. Now c'mon, and everyone behave yourselves! I'm sure HQ will punish him accordingly," Kaitlynn explained as she walked around the line. "Also, if anybody is injured, you will be sent to the medical ward. Unless it is a tiny scratch, you are not rejoining the patrol."
Briskly, the sergeant strode down the sidewalk, expecting everybody to follow behind her. The blond joined her side with haste, obviously concerned about mixing with the frustrated hunters who groaned and trod after them. Grumbles were evident as hunters displayed their annoyance. The sounds of patted fabric being subtle background noise as they attempted to remove the black dust from their uniforms. Quietly, Kaitlynn walked point, leading them all back down those familiar sidewalks they traversed moments prior.
Electricity manipulation consumed a massive portion of Kaitlynn's energy, thus allowing her to easily adjust to the addition energy. Frequently, the brunette was required to consume fairly large meals to assure her electricity manipulation remained functional and capable. Assistance was further provided by the customized gauntlets designed to store buckets of electricity. Batteries were recharged by accepting the foreign magic into her system, which potentially meant she would temporary because a useful asset in combat. The tamed bolts of electricity proceeded to dance around her fingers while the young woman focused on the individual who provided her this incredible energy. The brunette's attention fixated onto the blond, more worried about the young man rather than herself. Considering Kaitlynn was still alive and the positive vibes she received from the magic, she was forced to assume the young man was forthcoming with her about the situation.
Therefore, the angel's worry felt warranted unless proven otherwise. He appeared please she was alright after being introduced to his magical energy. A gentle smile graced his face as he spoke, Kaitlynn patiently waiting to discover his condition. Fortunately, William reassured her a rest would improve his condition. A brief nod acted as the brunette's acknowledgement of his well-being. There was a pause as Kaitlynn slowly closed and opened her palm to admire the golden electricity jumping through her fingers, however, her observations were interrupted by the young man's apology. A soft sigh escaped her mouth as her hands rested on her hips, a small smirk touching her purple-coloured lips; she always adored purple lipstick.
"Just be more responsible next time, okay kid? And all that was nothing, protecting people is my job." Kaitlynn responded, a calmness wrapping around her. "Anyways, we best get going. If what you told me was true, headquarters will be looking for you."
The woman strode towards one of the damaged holes, carefully stepping through, allowing the warm sunlight to embrace her frame. Outside, her fellow hunters waited, slightly ruffled and covered in thick, black dust, making it evidently they recently fended off a terror. Vigilantly, they stood guard, their rigid posture suggesting they were alert and prepared to guard the vicinity as their segreant requested.
"Fall in!" Kaitlynn called over the silence, causing a few unsuspecting hunters to jump.
Hastily, the group lined up in front of their sergeant, salutes immediately being provided. Patiently, Kaitlynn waited until everybody was gathered, observant purple eyes double-checking to assure her hunters were not severely injured and nobody was missing.
Bravery was a trait Sergeant Harris frequently invoked whenever making these dangerous and possibly life-threatening decisions. People were in immediate peril should the terrors in the surrounding area converge onto a single location. Faith was held in unit two's tremendous fighting ability, but nobody could promise the safety of citizens who lived in the outskirts. There were people unequipped to handle themselves in a fight against a terror, leaving them vulnerable to attack. Should she perish because of her foolish requirement to spare those around her from a potential threat, then she would meet Thanatos' embrace with a scar of cynicism. The faint smile was a surprising expression to view on William's face in these dire circumstances, but Kaitlynn chose to ignore. If people were genuinely in danger, submitting herself to receiving the accumulated magical energy was the only escape.
As magic was transferred between them, the strange sensations manifested from the peculiar ability surprised the brunette. The woman's purple eyes analyzed the peculiar golden colouring of her electric magic she prized. At the moment, she felt similar to a battery being recharged with precious energy. Sparks and electric arcs danced between her fingers, playfully hopping around the specially designed gauntlets. Despite the ravishing appearance of those golden bolts, Kaitlynn knew their danger could be life-threatening should somebody foolishly grasp her hand. The woman merely nodded when the blond mentioned the action being painless, ultimately surprised by the ability he held. Their connection was eventually broken, William's hand leaving her shoulder and ceasing the process. When the hand disappeared, Kaitlynn's eyes flitted towards him, posture straightening and subtle signs of concern touching her face upon noticing the laboured breaths.
"I'm fine... but are you okay?" She inquired softly.
Magic proceeded to flow through her veins, although, despite the foreign source, everything appeared to be under her control. Everything appeared to be in order as of her abilities, thus, her main concern became the blond man she was expected to escort back to headquarters.
Desperation was a forceful emotion, reminding the afflicted few options were readily available for their survival. Recklessness spoke kind words to it, feeding the beast and causing the afflicted to rashly decide on a risky plan. They conspired together, influencing Kaitlynn's decision and swaying her over-protective heart. Those precious members of her unit were awaiting critical injury or possibly her demise should they lose caution. Lorsette and the TRS accepted her, and Kaitlynn would be damned should she failed. They accomplished something the people designed for the task; her parents could never display pride and acceptance over her choices. At each step, the brunette was determined to prove she was a powerful, young woman capable of protecting those around her. Patience in this situation was beyond Kaitlynn as concerns over the consequences of merely waiting until William was ready entered her mind.
Determination mingled with recklessness glimmered in the sergeant's purple eyes as the direness of the situation was realized. Potentially, the terrors in the area could be low-risk, however, Kaitlynn refused to gamble the lives of citizens and her fellow unit members to discover the truth. Hastily, she volunteered herself for potential injury or something worse and unexpected. However, the angel always considered it her duty to protect others and cherish their lives similar to those she loved dearly. It appeared William was astonished by her reckless willingness to participate in a quicker idea, even going lengths to attempt to deter her.
"If people are in danger, I am not letting them just die out there!" Kaitlynn snapped back at the boy.
Silently, the brunette listened to the instructions being provided to her, courage filling her veins. The sergeant remained alert, purple eyes flitting around their current location, assessing the area for possible threats. There was still a chance Kaitlynn's reckless choice making could place her directly in peril's pathway. When the blond stood from his position, Kaitlynn stiffened slightly, however, she quieted any concerns about the situations. Golden coloured, dust-like residue floated where the man's hands once desperately clung to the tree. She listened to every word in his explanation, nodding slowly to display her comprehension of the magic's function. The distance was closed, the brunette remaining motionless, keeping her hands close to her to avoid accidental electrocution. Softly, the man's fingers touched her shoulder, the angel refusing to move as the process began. Golden light manifested again as the young man's magic obeyed his commands. There was a subtle tingling sensation from the connection which faded to numbness.
The peculiar sensation made the angel flinch, however, it disappeared into comfort when warmth flowed through her veins. Pleasant, similar to the embrace of positive emotions felt around loved ones before drifting into a physical sensation. She felt energetic because of this magic influence. Golden dust had returned, surrounding them, making the existence of William's magic obvious. Arcs of gold-coloured electricity bounced between her fingers, different from her regular magic output. Despite the strange nature of the situation, Kaitlynn refused to move, allowing the man to proceed with his magic.
Naivety was a trait Kaitlynn failed to comfort because of her blunt and reckless attitude. Years of being a runaway allowed the brunette to become thoroughly aware with the world's cruelness, this increasing when she met Sonya and joined the TRS. While she was far from cynical, she maintained a healthy concern about the endless possibilities and fended off excessive innocence with her life experiences. Unfortunately, her abrasive tongue in this situation could diminish morale should the sergeant fail to maintain caution, however, she was worried. The TRS was important to the brunette, there were no doubts about that notion. The protective angel felt trapped in their current situation, few options presenting themselves to make the circumstances more favourable. Their predicament was messier than expected, the unpredictable terror magnet potentially creating a large risk.
When the discussion through the radio was completed, the device was hooked back onto the loop of her belt. An apology escaped the blond's lips, Kaitlynn's purple eyes glancing back towards him. There was a hardness to them, a slight narrowing which created a stern countenance.
"Next time, I expect you to behave yourself! If you want to leave headquarters, you should have done it properly!" She stated afterwards, her tone condemning as she scolded the young man.
Frustration and anger filled the brunette as she attempted to reach a calmer state of mind; she needed to think. With a serious expression, she listened to William's words. Their current situation called for possible risks because of their terrible circumstance. The options were concerning, the young man's nervous reaction suggesting there were few remaining possibilities, although, the second option surprised Kaitlynn. The young woman's eyes briefly widened, soon settling into a contemplating glare as she glanced towards the ground. Use herself as a vessel to take the access energy, it was an interesting concept, although, one which left Kaitlynn uncertain. After a few moments, she clenched her fists, remembering how rapidly her electric manipulation could consume her magical energy. They still needed to retreat to the downtown area, and with terrors converging on their present location, they needed all the firepower they could get.
"Yes..." She responded hesitantly, her gaze soon locking on William. "If that is the best option, then that is what we will do... Now, how the hell does this work?!"
These circumstances were concerning, to say the least, however, Kaitlynn was more concerned about her fellow hunters and the citizens in the area than her own well-being. Slowly, she stepped forward, volunteering herself as a candidate to accept the possible spy's strange magic. In her mind, if he decided to betray her after being so forthcoming with information, he would suffer the consequences of her fellow hunters tracking him down and capturing him.
Terrors were frightful and sometimes unpredictable creatures, resulting in all TRS hunters being provided a detailed course on how to handle these horrific monstrosities. Months passed meticulously studying these malicious creatures to assure hunters were thoroughly prepared for a variety of possibilities. Those days spent confined to classrooms provided Kaitlynn the necessary information about the enemy she faced on the daily. These creatures were capable, especially those similar to the elusive disguiser who could pretend to be human. Without a thorough assessment of all terrors inside the outskirts, there was nothing to determine the amount of danger they could possibly be in. There were certain classes of terrors which were difficult to defeat single-handedly, thus a group of the TRS' worst enemies in a single location was a frightening thought. The TRS sergeant proceeded to stride forward, her recklessness leading her steps.
"Simplified or not, terrors follow your magic like dogs after a scent I bet," Kaitlynn stated, making an assumption.
The complexity of terror attraction and its correlation to William's abilities hardly mattered to the angelic brunette. Terrors converging on their area was the primary issue, Kaitlynn evidently more concerned about the safety of her hunters and potential citizens in the outskirts. Creations of Zeredah were murderous, their lack of morals already providing the belief everybody in the area was in danger. Thus, exact logistics of the situation were ignored for the purpose of fixating on the dire circumstances. An annoyed scowl breached the sergeant's face when the mysterious man stated he was stuck in place. The foolish statement towards terrors not entering the city prompted an irritated growl from Kaitlynn.
"In the downtown area, maybe! Those monsters can slither around the outskirts pretty damn easily!" Kaitlynn exclaimed, fists clenching.
A deep breath was inhaled into the depths of her lungs, the brunette reaching composure to properly handle the situation. They needed to dispel the strange magical energy gluing William to the tree and leave.
"Is there any way to make the process faster? We can't linger here too long! My troops and any citizens could be in danger," Kaitlynn inquired quickly.
Hastily, her hand fetched the radio from around her belt, the sergeant's mind finally formulated a possible plan. They needed to prepare for the hellish circumstances greeting them with bared fangs and blood-soaked claws.
"I need scouts watching the streets in my location. Inform my hunters of any terror activity coming our way," the sergeant commanded.
There were no doubts about their ill-favourable situation, however, the angel was required to handle everything in the best possible method. Patrol routes occasionally received abhorrent circumstances which threw them off route, however, they were being required to stand their ground against incoming terrors. Unit two was a powerful fighting force, but with a small handful of hunters at her disposal, the sergeant was nonetheless concerned.
Considering the attractive lieutenant of unit two could possess a reckless fire, Kaitlynn was oftentimes handed the expectation to soothe her desires. It would be difficult on the unit should they both decide to thoughtlessly throw themselves into the fray. Alas, resisting the urges to display her reckless side was something Kaitlynn was barely capable of accomplishing. Fortunately, her intense care for unit two allowed the angel to resist her natural instincts. Somebody needed to keep their eyes open and worry about unit two’s safety, and the brunette allowed those expectations to rest on her shoulders. Constantly, the sergeant’s eyes flitted around the area, assessing the situation, searching for more potential danger, although, her initial assumptions were proven wrong when William explained the problem. She listened, eyes widening slightly the instant he explained the real issue with his magical over-load; the attraction of terrors.
The outskirts frequently held an abundance of terrors and their late realization on William being an impersonator resulted in them bringing a terror magnet to the outskirts. The angel flinched, now thoroughly aware of their horrible situation.
“So you’re a walking terror magnet?!” She exclaimed, voice booming as realization dawned. “We need to get you out of here!”
All terrors in the outskirts converging on a single area would be a dangerous situation, the sergeant thoroughly aware of their capabilities. Their squadron was supposed to systematically move through the outskirts and eliminate, but their plans were officially ruined. There were no doubts about unit two’s power and capabilities, however, the full list of enemies in the area was unknown. The more powerful classes like swarmers, razors or disguisers managing to reach their location would easily make it a dangerous game. A few quick steps were taken forward, the sergeant’s concerns about the possible situation resulting in a requirement to get moving. Unconsciously, the electricity discharged from her fingertips, safely disappearing into the ground to avoid shocking.
Interesting situations added a certain spice to Kaitlynn’s sergeant occupation, however, she despised the notion of spies wandering through the TRS. These dastardly people who worked extensively to merely ruin TRS plans and gladly throwing the Assembly the information they needed to accomplish their objectives. Alas, there was come intelligence in Kaitlynn's reckless mind; the blond stranger could be truthful and both their lives be at stake. Besides, she possessed the courage to risk her well-being and chase this young man down; or at least, direct him towards her teammates. Carefully, the radio was snatched from around the sergeant's belt, the brunette aware her fellow hunters would be converging on her current location. The device was hovered near her lips, the angel allowing her slightest hint of tactfulness to show; it was a rarity considering her reckless nature.
"Stay outside the building, but have it surrounded, got it?" Kaitlynn softly spoke.
The subtle sounds of static filled Kaitlynn's ears, a pause of silence ensued. Only a mere few seconds later did a round of responses to the command filtered through the radio, each hunter stating the same two words.
"Yes, ma'am!" Her hunters barked in responded.
Promptly afterwards, electricity was pumped into the specialized gauntlets, Kaitlynn's purple eyes settling on the young man. She expected answers for the questionable actions the blond accomplished, the sturdiness of her stance making it evident she refused to leave without them. The TRS was the first place Kaitlynn found where her attitude and personality was considered acceptable, thus she was determined to protect the organization and those inside it. The Terror Response Syndicate gave her everything, forging her into the incredible warrior she never knew was inside. She listened to the words which escaped the young man's mouth, knowing the information he provided could be sourced and possibly verify his intentions. All the trouble the blond wreaked to escape the confines of headquarters resulted in a soft sigh escaping the brunette's mouth as she shook her head.
Alas, before she could inquire about his intentions, the young man brought up his magic. Immediately, the angel raised a brow, purple eyes observing William's form; it could perhaps explain the peculiar positioning. The frantic nature of his voice suggested a larger situation than she liked.
"How can we stop your magic?" Kaitlynn asked, an authoritative tone evident through her confidence.
Fear was a nonexistent emotion on her expression, however, Kaitlynn's heart was beating wildly as she concerned herself with potentially facing Thanatos should the situation prove lethal. Either way, the problem required solving before they both faced the consequences. There was a subtle narrowing to her purple eyes, the sergeant's observations allowing her to understand the situation. The blond's panicked state and the requirement to warn her of potential danger were because of his magic. The mysterious force manifested in a variety of manners. Thus, Kaitlynn believed there could be immediate danger should they fail to accomplish the needed objectives to tame William's magic in this instance.
The weight from her large white wings resulted in a requirement for Kaitlynn to kneel upon entering the building, her gauntlet crackling as it hit the ground. Bolts of static discharged into the ground, crackling electricity echoing through the room until the woman lifted her hand. The sergeant remained balanced in a crouching position, purple eyes narrowing as she scanned the deteriorated room. An initial sweep was done before her eyes returned a locked on the blond who attempted to elude them. Quickly, Kaitlynn pushed herself to her feet, white wings pressing against her back as she strode closer. Plans of capturing their alleged spy filled the angel's mind, the young woman being determined to accomplish the abruptly changed goal of her outing. Spies were a dangerous presence, and the brunette would be damned if she allowed one to escape with whatever information he held.
When the man stuttered out the word wait, she paused, raising a brow in confusion. Perhaps this was a bizarre trick? Either way, the sergeant waited, knowing her fellow hunters would diverge on the area, probably making it impossible for the mysterious man to escape these circumstances. The stranger stated he would return to the TRS peacefully, yet, Kaitlynn allowed wariness to flash in her stunning, purple eyes. At the mention of danger, the angel crossed her arms, evidently unaffected by the electrical currents coursing through her specially designed gauntlets.
"If you're telling the truth, tell me right now what the danger is," she called towards him. "I also want your name right this instant, and no pathetic lies. You will also tell me how you obtained that uniform."
Despite danger being mentioned, the huntress was evidently unconcerned with the potential injuries which could be inflicted. Light was filtering through the gaps in the walls, suggesting she could protect herself via light manipulation. While Kaitlynn's ability to manipulate light was mediocre, it still operated as a viable defense in dangerous situations. As a result, the angel summoned the light to her side, several orbs floating around her as she waited for the young man's answers.
Spies were not particularly uncommon, the Assembly of Phantoms being renown for their attempts of devious fighting. Sabotage was even a potential goal which crossed Kaitlynn’s mind as she soared above. In the outskirts, terrors or other Assembly members could easily hide, resulting in her belief there could be darker intentions lurking in the boy’s mind. The soft hum of a ready radio filled the angel’s ears, her purple eyes narrowing as she searched the streets below. She conducted a large analysis of the area while her teammates scoured the grounds. Somewhere amidst the outskirts was their potential spy, and Kaitlynn could already imagine how upset Sonya would be if unit 2 failed to track down and capture this man. Naturally, the angel desired to please her beloved girlfriend and assist her fellow hunters in avoiding her condemnatory gaze.
The hum of silence was concerning to the sergeant, her eyes narrowing as determination claimed her. She would find this mysterious man and drag him to the TRS herself. An annoyed groan escaped her lips as she circled the area, smoothly flying through the air and peeking through the gaps in buildings. Occasionally, she managed to notice her fellow hunters, but she ignored them to search for the supposed spy. Suddenly, the subtle golden glow through the cracks of a building captured Kaitlynn's attention, her keen observations paying off. The brunette narrowed her eyes, electricity loading into her specially designed gauntlets; they dubbed her Electra for a reason. Should the situation transform into a full-out brawl, the sergeant would be thoroughly prepared to handle the situation accordingly. Quickly, a button was tapped on her radio, allowing her voice to be heard on the channel.
"Come to my position," she stated quietly, pausing a few moments before sending a bolt of electricity through the air.
Theoretically, this spy possessed access to their radio channel, thus Kaitlynn considered it pointless to keep their position hidden for a mere investigation. Once the signal was sent, the brunette dived down, wings pinned to her back as she entered through a relatively wide hole. Beams of sunlight were filtering through the room, nature reclaiming what originally belonged to it. Vines draped over the walls, grass shot up from where patches of the floor were destroyed and finally a single tree with their spy's hands on it. Upon entering the space, Kaitlynn's wings unfurled, slowing her descent as she dived towards the ground. Promptly, her feet collided with the ground, however, speed made her landing wobbly, a hand requiring usage for a steadier landing.
Each step carried them closer to the sparse outskirts, citizens gradually thinning until the troop of unit two hunters. Despite her fixation on the mysterious apprentice, Kaitlynn was completely alert to her surroundings as they moved closer to the outskirts. She listened to the subtle noises around her while her purple eyes glanced around them. Everything was noted the closer they got, especially the body language of her fellow hunters; they were tensing, signifying they were gradually getting closer to their destination. A majority of the conversations were hushed, the angel knowing her capable hunters were preparing to enter the outskirts. While she was forced to divide her attention, it promptly trained entirely on the apprentice when he stated he lacked a unit. A subtle pause graced her movements, the sergeant's eyes flitting towards the blond, fixating on him.
Immediately, her purple eyes located the name tag alongside the unit the young man would have been provided. As they drifted over the identifying features, they widened as they noticed the letters stating 'UNIT ONE' alongside a name tag holding a female name. Before Kaitlynn could reach to grab his wrist, the young man began running, resulting in the sergeants eyes narrowing as she instantly followed.
"GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" She commanded, earning the attention of her subordinates.
The sounds of footsteps following behind her filled the angel's ears as she pursued the mysterious man; she believed him to potentially be an Assembly spy. The woman's well-trained body carried her smoothly down the sidewalk, her fellow hunters close behind her as they attempted to close the distance. As she turned a corner, the angel paused, her purple eyes searching for the young man.
"Search the area, if my suspicions are right, we need to handle this right now," Kaitlynn stated authoritatively.
Each hunter provided their sergeant with a crisp salute before separating to search the immediate area. Briefly, the brunette watched them, assuring their assignments would be completed. When she turned away, a luminescent, white light engulfed her back, stretching out, forming the familiar shape of wings. Gradually, the light dissipated, revealing a pair of large, feathery, white wings sprouting from her back. Figuring out exactly where the boy disappeared to was nearly impossible considering how powers could easily change circumstances. With that, the woman flapped her large wings, heading into the skies above to essentially watch the streets below while her hunters searched. She remained rather close to the ground with her flight, the brunette completely aware of the difficulty in discerning identities which arrived with being higher up.
Constant intimidation was not Sergeant Kaitlynn Harris' style of commanding, the TRS higher up completely alright with mellowing down and engaging in conversation with her teammates. Those were the true methods to create everlasting bonds and endless trust between one another. The fluid manner fought was evident when city hall was attacked during the graduation ceremony. Powerful, confident and courageous were the words frequently associated with the second unit of the Lorsette Branch's Terror Response Syndicate. Alas, they were renown for stricter expectations, courteously of her beautiful Sonya. A soft chuckle escaped the brunette's lips when the supposed apprentice admitted to being slightly nervous. Those were common emotions when dragged along on a first mission, especially considering a majority had never fought terrors of Assembly members until the first time their mentor takes them out for duty.
Attentively, the angel listened to the words the apprentice, a smile remaining on her face when she managed to sooth some of his concerns. The brunette was pleased with her efforts to calm the young apprentice, besides, everybody needed to be prepared for potential threats. Alas, she never thought about taking the man's request seriously, the brunette genuinely believing he was merely anxious about his first mission. Finally, their conversation progressed to being related to the young man's unit, to the sergeant's delight. However, she did not receive the expected answer as the boy danced around the question, stating he was not in a unit. Immediately, Kaitlynn raised a perplexed brow at the strange answer; nobody answered those types of questions like that.
"What do you mean?" She inquired, crossing her arms.
Confusion remained evident in her voice, the sergeant's eyes locked entirely onto the mysterious apprentice claiming her lacked a unit. There were a multitude of questions entering the woman's head, mostly because this boy wore a TRS uniform, and yet, claimed he held no unit. Certainly, the unit would be labelled below his name tag for validation purposes, but requesting it appeared to be a better method of initiating conversation.
Apprentices possess a peculiar air of mystery because of their status as new. Oftentimes, this manifested a curiosity inside of Kaitlynn, the young woman focusing her efforts on learning about these new souls. The backgrounds they held were interesting, allowing her to connect with these newer hunters and potential make Sonya privy to new information. Handpicking these apprentices resulted in observant evaluations, and the angel wished to assure she knew all information. Once she managed to place herself beside the mysterious, young man, a thin smile stretched across the brunette’s face. Immediately, she matched the boy’s pace, each step being matched by the angel. The smile remained as Kaitlynn pondered where to begin the questions, however, she heard a question from the mysterious apprentice. The angel raised a brow in response to the inquiry provided by the apprentice.
Quickly, the brunette's purple eyes flitted over to the assumed apprentice, brow still lifted at the notion. Under most circumstances, apprentices were excited for finally heading out on these missions. These were rare allowances, thus the sergeant was surprised the young man desired to stay behind. As her eyes locked onto the man, she noticed the symptoms of anxiety which resulted in her assuming she may have frightened him when explaining the mission. Undoubtedly, the outskirts could become a dangerous place, but the angel always prepared by having a backup ready throughout the encounters,
"Oh, c'mon. Did I scare you with all that garble?" Kaitlynn inquired with a smirk. "Unit two is the toughest in the TRS. I'm certain you will be safe."
Confidence was evident, sounding borderline arrogant because of her extreme faith in unit two and its members. They trained hard to assure victory in the present and future battles. Winning was important considering the circumstances which surrounded loss, thus their training regiments were crucial to avoid any misfortunes.
"Speaking of which, what unit are you in? I have heard there is some cross-unit training," the brunette asked with a smile.
A touch of curiousity reached her words, the sergeant genuinely wondering about the apprentice she discovered. Gradually, they would grow closer to the outskirts, Kaitlynn already timing when she would eventually be required to take control of the unit's movements.
