Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

Almost immediately, a change in currents unleashed upon them as the demon who'd carried him was met with a much heavier weight than before... a-and Alfonse was absolutely mortified as the glowing aura surrounding his transformed body blinked away from his frame, revealing himself as perhaps his truer self completely vulnerable in another boy's arms. [break][break]
A strained noise left the demon as he struggled to navigate himself in the air, wobbling unsteadily as he managed to secure the Kitsune safely in his arms.... but not without a clumsy fall down towards the bottom of the treeline. [break][break]
Twigs and branches loudly snapped around them as everything blurred quickly around them. The quickly-passing blur and the loud blazing wind around them caused Alfonse to snap his eyes shut, lowering his face at the same time against the demon's arm. The sound of strong wings being buffeted against the trees guiltily caught Alfonse's ears, his guilt increasing when finding that the demon sacrificed his own wings by wrapping them around him in a dome-like hug to shield him from a terrible collision against the firm forest floor.[break][break]
When they met with the ground, the air from Alfonse's lungs was nearly knocked right out of him, winding him into gasping out a surprised grunt from the impact... and his heart hammered erratically against his chest. His eyes slowly opened.... his chest heaving both from how fast his heart was racing and from impending fearfulness... and he saw daylight above him as the demon withdrew his wings.[break][break]
Leaves and twigs fluttered from the heavens, the sound of snaps and cracks still happening from their incidental fall. The warmth of another's arm still laid beneath him but Alfonse was all but too shocked from his body changing and the whirlwind that'd happened around them to roll over or truly respond. A couple leaves and a twig managed to wrestle their way through his locks, leaving him frazzled and fatigued. [break][break]
"You okay?" [break][break]
Alfonse's breathing continuously heaved, and tiredly, he gave a nod in response. "Y-yeah..." His voice softly spoke out to his companion, "A-are you...?" He was still in a daze.... his reaction time slow and nodding once more to what the demon said... before, quickly, he snapped out of it and quickly leaned forward into a sitting position. His eyes grew wide and quickly, he covered his face in his hands and buried his head against his knees. "A-ah, I'm-- I-I'm so sorry, th-that wasn't supposed to happen! I-I wasn't supposed to switch-- and-- a-and!" His face burned red and he let out an embarrassed groan, "Y-you weren't... supposed to get hurt, o-or see me like this, a-and--!"

Eyes snapped open and like a shadowy ghost haunting the desolate shores, the stranger nearly floated up from where he'd befallen the damp sand and staggered onto his feet, and an even stronger eerie aura surrounding the beach's enclosure that Alfonse hadn't felt before his gaze had met with his. [break][break]
His hands somewhat trembled, glossed in the same silvery-blue hue of magical glow as they kept the summoned shield up to protect this man from being thrown back down by the waves.... but a part of the boy wondered if... h-he should even be helping someone that was starting to seem so ominous.[break][break]
The shield nonetheless followed the man and Alfonse felt a combination of confusion and terror as the man advanced towards him without saying a word. It were as though the strange dark figure had gathered just enough energy... t-to literally be walking right at him. [break][break]
"A-ah, um, sir--?" Alfonse attempted again, this time his voice riddled in more fear. Beginning to take a few steps backwards, he followed his words with a more so assertive, "Wh-what's wrong? Who are you?" A tightness in his throat begun to surface and the auburn haired boy was emotionally feeling closer to just.... f-forgetting about keeping the tides away from the previously down-stricken man and running back to Ezriel. It was, however, the very weakened state of his that kept him from quite yet running... to see what was wrong, however foolish that may... end up being.
Silence arose after he'd called out, and Alfonse's hand nervously reached to grasp his satchel.... wondering wh-what or who was on the other side of the berry branches and shrubbery that was facing before where he knelt in the meadow-y soft earth. Maybe he should just.... stand up and carry on with the last of ingredients he needed to gather... b-before someone else showed up... [break][break]
After all, if it were someone's canine in the shrubbery, it was possible that their owner wasn't far away. And, really, the young Kitsune had no intentions of being caught in the middle of his task by a complete stranger when he was out in the vacant wilds.[break][break]
It was then that a breeze blew a wafting aroma of flowers and pollen that Alfonse felt a tickle come to his nose... and such a tickle had seemingly touched the creature that he warily watched. A sneeze rattled through the berry branches and made Alfonse's shoulders jump in surprise. The bodily movement that followed the sneeze gave the boy a better view of fur and the silhouette of what looked like... a Saint Bernard dog? [break][break]
"A-are you lost, puppy?" The boy's gentle voice once more called out, confusion dwelling within his gaze as he still internally combated the conflicting scents of human and dog. There were plenty of species that existed in the world, however-- maybe this was one he had yet to meet in person! O-oh, he wasn't quite sure if that comforted him or made him feel all the more apprehensive, though... and what species could possibly look like a Saint Bernard?[break][break]
With his hand still on the satchel, Alfonse put on a brave face and sat up on his knees. "U-Um, well, if you're a puppy... maybe you'd like a snack?" He offered carefully, grabbing one of the fresh-baked shortbreads from his satchel. He held his hand out with the shortbread offered outward, "I don't mind sharing,"

Raising his voice to call over the wind, Alfonse heard the demon's answer that followed his paw-pointing direction. He retreated his paw back atop one of the arms that held him and kept his eyes open and observant over the view down below. Smoothly they glided through the sky, maneuvering over a district on the border of Lorsette's city limits before it soon dispersed into forestry. [break][break] He pointed out his paw again, keeping it directed East so that the demon would stay going in the very direction they were flying. His black nose caught a subtle distant aroma of sea salt... and immediately, his heart squeezed with joy upon its familiarity. It was the smell of home.... they weren't far, and he was overwhelmed with a powerful feeling of longing and happiness to be where he belonged.[break][break] His guidance took them near the shoreline where boulders, trees, and slopes bordered the sand. The area of the beach was secluded and far from commonly traveled tourist destinations. The oceanic breeze blew intensely against them, strong enough to tickle Alfonse's nose. He tried to hold back a sneeze but was unable to, sneezing once and then twice with his head looking downward at the rolling tides and silvery sand. Ensuring he was still comfortably sitting against the demon's chest, he rose one arm to tightly cover his nose and quickly stretched out the other to guide them once more.[break][break] Deep thickets of the woodlands engulfed them, trees towering tall and blocking out much of the sunlight as they ventured further and further away from the open-world, entering an isolated forest enriched with abundant nature. The Kitsune's heart beat rapidly against his chest with the same hopeful anticipation, eagerly jerking his paw out to direct them again. Finally, striking-tall strong brick walls towered in the distance. His eyes grew large, paws eagerly and quickly tapping the demon's arms. [break][break] The amount of glee that filled his small frame was enough to, finally, tip over the exhaust on the duration of his manifested form and ignite an energetic shift. A subtle white-ish blue glow quickly spread across his fur in a translucent glimmer dancing cross his body, blending with his fur. It brightened as they neared the brick walls that rivaled the great grandfather trees in size.... and Alfonse's eyes grew large when seeing his arms being taken over by its sparkling hue. H-he.... h-he was shifting back now of all times?! Without any means of being able to prepare, the Kitsune's body consumed itself in the radiating magic in entirety in the bright spinning light. Suddenly, the weight in the demon's arms became heavier and they were holding a humanoid form still shrouded in the same aura...

Once Alfonse burrowed himself against the warmth of the demon's chest, he felt a small squeeze from the same arms that embraced him. The notion brought him a comforting reassurance that warmly lit in the Aquamarine hues peering over shielding arms... he truly felt safe in the other's care. After everything that befell their meeting and how the demon kindly treated him after restoring his health, Alfonse's trust in him was pure and he had faith in his promise of not letting anything bad happen. [break][break] His arms kept his tail close against himself, his front paws crossing over each other with one resting against the cloth of the other boy's shirt. Upon the bathroom door opening and lights shutting off, the demon used magic to do so and faced what was now an open entrance. When Alfonse's gaze befell the open doorway, his heart beat begun to thump heavier.... faced with the full reality of one more obstacle they needed to overcome before venturing off into the sky. Possibly bypassing the boy's parents.[break][break] Instantly Alfonse hid his nose against the demon's arm, both shielding and bracing himself. His question hesitantly stirred him, slowly lifting his face to look up at the other boy with both nervousness and wonderment in the expression of his face. The moment he looked up served as a cue for the demon to continue onward. They exited into the hall and soon ventured down the stairs with shadow magic trailing by the demon... leaving Alfonse both still worried, but also on edge to see what he had wished for him to see. His heart continued it's racing as they made their way to the last step with his gaze cautiously bouncing about the unveiling room for any possible signs of someone else nearby, keeping his body quite nestled against the protection of the other boy. [break][break] However, the shadowy magic accompanying them quickly begun to materialize in greater size. Alfonse's ears perked up in alert when seeing the shadow tower over them, looming as an obscuring deep fog that nearly concealed the exterior of the living area in a thick blur. They were completely blanketed by its presence in a matter of seconds and the Kitsune's nervousness spiraled into amazement when realizing that his companion entirely armored them from any danger. [break][break] His ears averted straight and tall upon his head, his eyes growing large as any anxiety of being in danger melted away. He even felt secured enough to lean his head forward over one of his arms to look out at what the boy was doing. Th-this... this was amazing! They were completely covered and getting by like undercover spies on a dangerous mission! He couldn't help but to turn his head up to look at the blonde with the very astonishment that was energetically taking over him. The boy's laughter and the confused muffled voice belonging to one of his parents beyond their surrounding maneuvering shadowy wall boosted Alfonse's own exhilaration. Wh-while it was scary knowing they were close... the feeling of actually escaping them, and watching it effortlessly unfold was.... really invigorating. His eyes brightened in delight, watching the playfulness hinting the demon's face and finding comfort in it before hearing the door click opening.[break][break] Instantly, he leaned his head backwards before repositioning himself to sit and look straight ahead in his protector's embrace. The shadowy shield dispersed, revealing the outdoors that flashed before his eyes. With the gallant sweeping notion of wings sounding around him, they were off the ground with everything quickly become smaller and smaller below. E-everything was happening so fast...! I-It was exciting and a little overwhelming, b-but more than anything, exciting! They were finally free! H-he was very relieved, and happy to be out of there... his heart squeezed in his chest, with both hope and a surprised releasing breath of fresh air. [break][break] Alfonse's head turned to once more look up when hearing the strong gust of wind above him. He saw the strong stone-like surface of the demon's wings for the first time, contrasting like intense ebony against the sky behind them. Uninhibited wonder gleamed in the Kitsune's large eyes as he watched the demon's wings, having never been up close to wings such as his before.... a-and it was.... really neat how textured and powerful they looked. His bright eyes soon after saw a similarly textured tail between them, unintentionally catching himself in a moment of silent and stunned admiration.[break][break] His fur gently buffeted from the blowing wind, especially the fluff of his cheeks from which faced up at the demon's bat-like wings. When he begun speaking his trance was broken. Momentarily his eyes grew impossibly wider, mentally shaking himself out of it and averting his gaze to meet with the demon's face as he brought up a good point. I-It was going to be difficult not having a means of talking with him. It meant not being able to tell him where to go... they would need to be resourceful, and Alfonse clung onto the positive hope of even having a chance to get home like this. [break][break] The Kitsune gave a nod in agreement and proceeded to turn his head to look down below at the city. Streetways and thinning trees blurred by, and subconsciously, seeing how high up they were made him curl his paws a little tighter to hold onto the demon. His eyes actively searched the view below, analyzing their location and trying to mentally connect the dots on which way they could go from here. The wind brushed through his ears, causing them to lightly flutter among his buffeting fur as he quietly and adamantly observed everything.... before, swiftly, he swiped one of his arms off towards the left with a paw pointing straight out in the direction East of Lorsette.
Deep indigo petals touched the boy's fingertips as he peacefully gathered them, careful in pulling them away from their thin delicate stems that were short and close among the meadow's grass. Alfonse's knees knelt along the soft greenery after a few moments, sitting down a moment after with his legs kept folded underneath him. An illuminating shimmer shown from the inside fabric of his cloak during his shuffling, soon disappearing as the front of his cloak once more fell over his shoulders. [break][break] A soft smile touched his face upon opening a palm in front of him and silently appreciating the rich hue of the flowers within its grasp. Small lines of dark blue highlighted the mid-region of the petals, gradually darkening before almost turning black towards the middle of the flower. The midnight-blue depths made the flower an essential asset to potions enhancing intellectual sharpness and wisdom... but Alfonse, personally, found them to be calming to look at and pleasant to smell. His nose caught scent of the wild berries, grass, indigo flowers, trees.... a medley of nature's gifts with none being too potent but just the right amount of sweet aroma to lull the boy into contentment.[break][break]
He closed his eyes, bringing his cupped palms higher up towards his face to get a better smell of the delicate floral scent before reopening his Aquamarine hues, lowering his palms to bundle them with the other Indigo flowers he collected. A subtle shimmering whirl of blueish-white aura spun from his fingertips, wrapping around the flower stems gradually and neatly bringing them together in an organized bunch. Much like a magical thread, it bound the flowers together evenly and danced through and around the stems while doing so. An unfamiliar scent that didn't mix with the meadow's scenery reached Alfnonse's nose... he paused, though it was a snapping sound that followed and completely caught his attention.[break][break]
He quickly turned his head to look in the direction he heard the snapping noise come from, as though someone or something had accidentally stepped upon a branch. Alfonse's previous peaceful demeanor was caught off guard in hesitancy that grew by the second. The new smell that entered the area intensified and startled him... s-something else was definitely really close... i-it smelled like a human... and animal? M-maybe someone was walking their dog? The thought didn't ease him at all and the boy worriedly glanced about the bushes and trees from where he sat, trying to hold still and not making any noise of his own... and h-he could have swore he actually saw the figure of a dog by itself.... through the bushes in front of him.[break][break]
".... H-hi puppy...?" Alfonse's voice softly called out, uncertainty and surprise in his tone. Through the wild berry branches he didn't see a human, but.... it really smelled like one was there somewhere...

Upon the blonde turning back around to face the mirror, Alfonse's already brightened demeanor sat up even taller with the very same anticipated hopefulness. Much like a child's simple means in finding happiness, his tails even excitedly swept in a gentle but excited swing as he saw a smile reach the demon's face. The message and drawing seemed to make the blonde happy, which in return brought a sense of uplifted spirits and fulfillment to the kitsune. A glimmer of such spirits shown in his Aquamarine hues as Alfonse watched the demon approach him, towel in hand that extended outward to start drying him off. [break][break] The friction from the towel was one Alfonse didn't really enjoy... i-it really made him feel like someone's pet being dried after a bath. A small whine left through his nose as the blonde continued rolling it over him, fluff from the sides of his cheeks getting into his eyes and causing them to squint whilst his body lightly rocked from the pressure of the towel. The boy tried to be patient for him to be finished and luckily it didn't take long at all. [break][break] When the other boy was done, Alfonse immediately rose one of his paws to fix the fur that'd messily stranded in front of his eyes. He had yet to turn and look in the mirror directly behind him nor did the thought cross his mind. The summoned purple-glowing energy once more returned into its shape of a wispy orb that levitated between the bathroom wall and where he sat, idly maneuvering up and down as though bobbing in an invisible current. When the demon once more reached out to pat down his fur, Alfonse groaned out in a small voice, disappointed that it wasn't over with. His paw froze, lifted near his chest after he finished grooming over his face, and he continued letting the demon do what he needed to as he slowly let his paw join the other on top of the counter.[break][break] He noticed his fur felt a little different behind him but Alfonse paid no real mind to it, more so anxious than anything else to be hopping off and setting flight to find his way home. However, when the demon paused and started to laugh, an innocent unassuming wonder filled Alfonse's expression. He first turned his head, then craned his neck to have a better look around him and at the mirror to find that the demon created a Mohwak with his fur. The Kitsune snorted in surprise, turning to look at the demon in amusement. Before he could respond or play back with the demon, he already tidied up the hairdo he created and readied his arms to hop back into. Alfonse eagerly rose onto all four paws, his tails being brought behind him as his eyes roamed from the demon's face to his open arms. The orb separated into multiple swirls as it met with the mirror to create another message. [break][break] 'I had fun too. Let's go!'[break][break] The magic didn't stay for long and was quick to disperse and this time, vanish altogether as Alfonse pounced off the counter and made easy landing into the comfort of the demon's embrace. His tails were curled up against him and softly brushed against the other boy's neck before he managed to carefully tuck them against him tightly, trying to secure and hide himself the best he could so that he could remain safely burrowed.

Vaguely, he could remember the feeling of being swept up... into a netting... a trap. Then, the face of the ghostly pale man. Alfonse's Aquamarine eyes narrowed in further thoughtful contemplation, remaining idle whilst the warm cloth worked over his buttered fur. The warmth of the cloth patting his ears and neck took him a moment to get used to. I-It wasn't like other people bathed him, that would be really weird a-and uncomfortable, but... this circumstance made it okay. His mind was orbited elsewhere, however. It confused him.... and concerned him... how there was such a heavy fog blocking the incident leading up to him even meeting the other boy. [break][break]
Fragments of imagery such as the demon's father, the blur of the woods, came fleeting through but it may have been too soon for him to grasp anything that could have led to an epiphany. Maybe once he was home and had access to the Apothecary Supply, he'd be able to use something that could jog his memory... by then, though, all of this would be over with. He'd be free to eat whatever he wanted to, read under the peach trees, and practice his lessons so that he could perform what he'd improved in front of the clan's leaders.[break][break]
Remembering that he had to actually undergo the exam in front of them bestowed a momentary anxiety that didn't have time to dwell, as the demon used the cloth to clean under his chin. Alfonse's face lifted up from the motion, seeing the relaxed smile on the demon's face. His gaze rested upon him... and the gentleness of the demon's expression brought him ease. The warmth of the cloth further comforted him once he'd grown used to the demon's light cleansing and a smile once more reached his eyes. He wondered if this was what it was like to have a brother, watching over and protecting their younger sibling.[break][break]
The summoned glowing hue of purple idly floated by the mirror in the shape of an orb, wisps of its color swaying above it as though it were a flame. Upon the demon's open musings about what it'd be like to become an animal, Alfonse's gaze filled with sheepishness albeit also delight. He rose his wrist to gesture a light pawing over his nose in the form of a shy reply. It was rare for anyone to see him like this and for once, he could be himself regarding his inherited traits. Had this been under different circumstances, it would have been very exciting for him. If only he could talk with him normally... but for now, the wisp's writing worked. When the demon proceeded to ask him about his head, Alfonse glimpsed between him and mirror. The purple hue brightened as focus was re-ignited towards it, unraveling upon the glass to form the boy's answer. [break][break]
'It's okay. My head is sore but it doesn't hurt.'[break][break]
Eagerly, he waited for him to turn around from retrieving a dry towel so that he may see his response. The butter, admittedly, didn't feel entirely rinsed out but he certainly felt cleaner than before. Before the demon turned, another idea came to mind for the other boy to turn around and see that sparked another uplifting of the boy's spirits.[break][break]
'Thanks for being kind to me.'[break][break]
The other words from before dulled in their colorful tensity but remained against the glass as Alfonse's second message appeared directly beneath it. A small squiggly drawing of a closed-eyed smiling fox face ended the sentence, a shimmer casting over it. He knew he already thanked him, but he wanted to say and do more than just that. He wanted to really show how much he appreciated everything. An anticipating perky gleam filled Alfonse's eyes as he continued watching the boy, his forearms fidgeting underneath him in an antsy manner.[break][break]
Cicadas chirped in the midst of a summer morning. Although time ticked barely past the ninth hour, bright sunshine already baked over the wilderness with warmth in the fresh air. By the mere earliness of such heat, it was likely to be a hotter day than usual, which was precisely why the young Kitsune was entrusted with material gathering before noon. [break][break] A great meeting was intended to take place for Dawn of Shadowstride's authority figures at the end of the week. Thus, visiting Apothecaries from different defensive branches were arriving at the Sinclairé manor within days and preparations for ingredients to materialize and experiment with were in need. Alfonse had gone on material gathering hunts a couple times already since relocating to Lorsette and to him, this was among a variety of other errands and chores he was accustomed to in a normal day.[break][break] He brought with him a satchel, binoculars, and couple small bottles filled with potions to help him out in case of needing their aid. Underneath his cloak, of which fastened around his shoulders before cascading open around his waist, was a finely crafted Black Tourmaline brooch cemented onto a tie of his collar by a spell his mother placed before the boy was sent off. A mild shimmer cast across the brooch from the protective magic held within the genuine crystal, warding off any possible means of the boy's true Kitsune aura being detected by others. He looked and smelled like an ordinary human or at most suspiciously, a gifted. Although Alfonse wasn't venturing very far one could never be too careful... and, albeit secretly and unbeknownst to him, he wasn't truly alone in his venturing.[break][break] Boots lightly crunched along the fallen leaves beneath his feet as he made his way along a pleasantly green meadow. He hummed a soft song to himself as he strolled, stashing a handful of wild herbs he'd gathered into his satchel. Inside his satchel was not only the herbs he already gathered but also a fruit and roasted nut trail mix, freshly baked shortbread, and a flask filled with chilled peach tea. The boy took a short-cut, climbing over the branches of a tree to reach a ledge of the meadow and pull himself over, entering into a bushy region full of berries and flowers. This wasn't his first time coming here and he already memorized easier ways to get into certain places to gather ingredients. [break][break] Standing onto his feet, Alfonse begun humming once more as he went straight to a cluster of indigo flowers and knelt down in front of him. Carefully he started harvesting them into his hands, one by one, the melody of his hummed tune being the only other sound among the distant cicadas.
Preston listened patiently, seemingly interested and enhancing Alfonse's comfort in sharing more about his different class subjects as he continued speaking. It felt nice opening up a little to someone else about his world. Preston quietly allowing for him to talk about them was more soothing to the boy than what could have been expressed. It helped remove the barrier of feeling alienated from a brand new place. Even if many of those subjects were in reality classes he had a long time ago, it still felt like only a few weeks passed since he'd last been part of them... it was still very much part of him and his present life, as opposed to a distant memory. [break][break]
The blonde opened the stairwell door once they reached the top. Alfonse at first slowed in his own steps to allow for Preston to venture through but it became apparent pretty fast that the other youth was stepping aside for him and his guard to pass first. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked to the blonde before smiling at him in gratitude for the polite gesture. "Thank you," He stepped through, entering the hall of a whole new floor of the building. [break][break]
What came with the new floor was new sounds, and scents... his ears caught the distant chatter of an adult from beyond the classroom doorways aligning the exterior. The smells of numerous students awaiting somewhere not yet visible hit his nose quite strongly. He paused in his steps just beyond the hall entrance, his scenes alerting him intensely of other people... o-other students, that could also be his possible classmates... and it was a little unnerving. Ezriel approached the stairwell door but instead of passing through, he paused beside Preston. The guard extended his arm over the boy's head and chose to hold the door open for the youth to pass through instead, silently insisting that the boy continued onward before him. [break][break]
Preston's voice broke Alfonse's anxious tension from where he'd frozen in place. N-not quite petrified, but overwhelmed by the epiphany of what they were about to go into. "... Y-yeah, it was a really interesting and fun class," He answered, turning to face the boy with a nervous smile. His hands reached inside the pockets of his cloak, anxiously pulling at the inside embroidery work as the weight of entering a big classroom lurked in the near future. Just by standing here, he could recognize that the classrooms had more people than what he was used to back home. Preston was here and already accustomed to this place... h-he wasn't alone, and so everything would be fine! That's what he tried silently telling himself...[break][break]
"We, um, did survival exams at the end of each subject. One of--" Alfonse continued trying to share, pushing through the over-flooding of scents rushing to him. However, at the sound of elevating voices during a classroom discussion from one of the rooms he paused mid-sentence before sheepishly continuing. "-- O-One of the exams, we teleported to a burial ground where ancient healing herbs grow...." He finished off with the same attempt of composing himself with a smile, "Have you made a potion using ancient herbs before? I was surprised by how different they look and smell compared to other recipes,"[break][break]

The other boy winked at him after promising the small bath wouldn't take long, curiously brightening Alfonse's gaze that'd returned to his brown eyes. In gratitude, the Kitsune hinted a nod of his head in response, the magic that'd written upon the mirror dispersing from its letters and gathering into a singular purple-hued floating orb. [break][break] Whenever in his own more so "human" form by himself, Alfonse actually really enjoyed taking baths. This was a situation where it obviously wasn't the same type of thing... but, he wasn't as anxious feeling about entrusting the demon as he was moments prior to entering the bathroom. It was as though the more he allowed his guard down, the more the other boy made him feel at ease and safe. His heart beat was soothed away from its earlier frantic drumming because of it and even if it was just for now, before heading back out, Alfonse was comforted away from a very distraughting environment.[break][break] Materializing black smoke caught the Kitsune's attention as he drew his eyes to the mirror, surprised to find the demon giving his own attempt at participating in written communication. Seeing the words "No Problem" written brought a glistening, delighted sheen to his eyes as they flicked from the mirror to the demon with a joyful boost of energy arising from his demeanor. His tails slowly swept to-and-fro and one could say that whatever smile his face was unable to properly express as a Fox, it was vibrantly shown in the twinkle in his Aquamarine eyes. He was pleasantly surprised by the demon doing the same thing as him. It was so cool! Like they were pen-pals, but, you know... they were writing to each other in person! Like a special secret, or game they were playing![break][break] His mind tried to jump into finding another response but admittedly, Alfonse couldn't quite think of anything on the spot and was more so simply excited by the demon's gesture. When the demon's face fell and he grew quiet, Alfonse observed him... his energetic glee simmering when seeing that the boy grew very quiet. He tilted his head in wondering of what he was thinking and then slowly, he leaned forward and ducked his head to look up at the boy's face from where his gaze had lowered. Bright eyes questioning looked up at his contemplative expression. [break][break] The demon's question was one that caused Alfonse to thoughtfully sit back up. A heavy fog clouded his ability to remember all that transpired. It didn't help that he was stressed for most of the time since he'd awoken... he hadn't been able to recollect anything clearly. Warmth soothingly touched his fur as the demon set on cleaning the buttery mess on him, Alfonse attentively searching through his mind to remember more than what dwelt at the very front of his memory. The purple orb of magic scattered as letters begun forming on the mirror, much like before.[break][break] 'I don't think so.'[break][break] The words lingered for a moment, Alfonse continuing to stubbornly and adamantly pick through his memory... wanting to remember what exactly happened from the moment he accidentally teleported into the depths of the forests.[break][break]

For a second their eyes crossed paths.... silver hues meeting with Alfonse's gaze. Barely but a second later another wheeze sounded from the struggling male, startling the boy as his form jumped in place. Whatever strangely spooky feeling was taking hold of him once he'd neared the male made him feel all the more on edge... and the young boy couldn't shake off a surge of apprehensiveness towards the faceless man because of it. He worriedly bit down on his lip, lightly chewing it as a nervous tick as his hands remained cupped by his chest. Glowing blue whirled around the stranger's dark demeanor, his clothing nearly blending with long dark hair that was astray his back.... th-the whole suddenness of him showing up, and in such a conspicuous way was almost as terrifying as it was mind-blowing.[break][break] "... U-um..." A small, shaking noise left Alfonse when no verbalized response was given. The man had fallen onto his back whilst another rhythmic motion of waves came searing over him before slowly sinking back. With how his arms spread in defeat against the sand, it looked as though he was forfeiting himself to the ocean.... letting the waves take him if they so pleased. ".... Sir?" He once more attempted to communicate but any form of certainty had left his tone, causing his voice to fall quite soft among the more so prominent commotion of the ocean backdrop. [break][break] This man must have been hurt, or fatigued, o-or something bad must have happened to him because this wasn't normal! I-It wasn't normal for someone to appear out of nowhere like this and to be glowing like... l-like some super-powered jellyfish! His mind fled through all kinds of confused and increasingly nervous thoughts in trying to make sense of the situation, a-and.... with another couple steps forward, he found himself practically paralyzed in place as though a silent voice murmured into his subconscious not to draw closer. Fear... danger... i-it all very powerfully, and weirdly surrounded whomever this man was.... and it worsened every passing second he was close.[break][break] Alfonse took a deep, shaking breath. He was seconds away from calling out for Ezriel... b-because he was starting to feel freaked out and worried about what was going on with this person... but as another rolling herd of waves started roaring towards the man, the boy spared his idle body. A translucent light, silvery glow mixed with a hue of pale blue whirled from his fingers in a similar waving current of illusory clear water. Releasing his hands from their clasp, he held out his palms to face the waves. Beside the man, the very same glowing hue appeared, creating a shimmering see-through rounded-shield that went half-way over him. Its demeanor almost looked like a glass reflection of the moonlight and stars with how clear, yet idly silver-hued the shield was. Once the waves met where the dark-clothed figure laid, wild splashes of water bounced off from the protective aura that saved him from being caught under the current, dispersing into frantic droplets while the rest of the waves seethed around and away from his figure.

Watching the waves lulled Alfonse into solace. The distant noise of waves rolling forward, tumbling into a smooth roar before crashing onto the damp sand and sending bubbling foam searing up towards his toes... it stirred inside his chest a feeling of comfort. A feeling of home. Ever since he was a child it was always the same feeling of comfort and happiness that filled him whenever he was somewhere calm by the water. Libraries, gardens, and cafes with decorated desserts were happy places of his but the feeling that captured him whenever he was somewhere like this was different than the rest. He was brought into stillness and ease... temptation of entering the waters beginning to murmur in his subconscious.[break][break] Abruptly loud wheezing and coughing broke such a trance. Alfonse's shoulders tensed and shot upwards in fright, completely caught off guard by an unfamiliar and very endangered noise of someone choking, o-or drowning...? He instantly looked beside him, and then jerked his head to look in the opposite direction to find where it was coming from. [break][break] An unnatural glow caught his eyes... o-one that gradually yet fairly fast grew as it took the hinted possible shape of an object. Except... i-it wasn't just an object... it visibly moved and was clearly the source of the sudden noises of struggling distraught. Alfonse's solitude was interrupted with quite the scare, and the boy's heart strummed worriedly as he eyed the strange creature while beginning to approach it with haste. [break][break] He paused, hesitantly ducking a little as though trying to safely find a means of peeking and seeing... wh-what and who was there. The smell of salt water and ocean debris made it much more difficult for Alfonse to pick up on any particular scent that may have made the strange glowing person any more distinct. The boy straightened his posture and took another few frantic steps closer. He then saw more clearly what looked like blue glow actually being subdued under clothing.... a-and with another few steps, his heart racing faster, Alfonse saw that it was a man that had fallen upon the shoreline, waves crashing against him while a blue glow radiated intensely from his fingers. O-Oddly, the moment he had drawn near to the stranger... a pulsing ominous sensation gripped at him. One that didn't feel like his own, yet... unpleasantly ruptured the beautiful shores with an unnerving gloom.[break][break] The boy's youthful eyes widened in complete shock and confusion, his mouth dropping open as he once more stopped. H-how could he have not seen, or heard this man possibly drowning on the shore before now?! I-It was as though he just... emerged through the waves like this, eerily glowing! A-and why did it suddenly feel so powerfully eerie around this man...? Gulping quietly, Alfonse was forced to take a step back from how sudden and overwhelming it was. "A-ah, um, u-um sir... do you need any help?" He asked worriedly, cupping his hands together near his collarbone and face colored expressively with complete bewilderment. The sleeves of his black hooded cloak fell slightly from the notion of his arms, revealing the buttoned wrist-cuffs of his white shirt underneath.

As the demon approached the doorway, Alfonse's stomach queasily turned on him while the heat touching his face remained. Even being in the other boy's arms and the safest he could possibly be here, he couldn't completely cease the unsettling feelings he harbored towards the others inside the household. As the knob turned, the fox turned his face to hide against the warmth of his T-shirt. He lowered his face slightly to burrow and hide himself against the other boy, wanting to hide... a-as much as possible. [break][break] Reassuringly the demon told him, "Their downstairs right now so you won't have to see them," His breath warmly tickled Alfonse's coat as he spoke. Both his ears lightly fluttered in response at the heat of his breath, one of his hind legs curling up tighter against his body as to further burrow himself deep into the shielded security of the other boy. I-It was a relief to know they were downstairs... and to be carried just in case... th-though he did feel shy about being so close and dependent on him. He seldom had this close of interaction with anyone before, and within the first time of meeting someone, he was being held in their arms and placing his whole life in them too... [break][break]
They were inside the bathroom in a matter of seconds. Alfonse's cheek turned against his chest to peek at the exterior before fully lifting his head up once the door clicked close behind them. They were taken to the countertop sink and when coming to a stop before the rounded faucet bowl, Alfonse readily stepped away from the demon's arms and onto the counter. He felt like he could relax more now that they were inside of here and the cautious tension riddling his body lessened as he sat, his tails long cascading in front of him over the countertip's trimming. [break][break]
His eyes watched the demon patiently, a subtle aroma of men's deodorant wafting when the closet door was opened. The blonde returned with a face cloth and while rinsing it, he asked if it were possible to use magic to write messages in the mirror. Alfonse's face brightened in liking of his idea, ears pointed tall as he glanced between the demon and the mirror. He didn't even think of that...! That was a great idea! H-he just... needed to ensure he had enough energy built up to do it, but Alfonse was eager to try. He wanted to communicate with the boy so that h-he just wasn't... quiet like a real animal, but being in this form made that a lot more complicated. [break][break] He shifted his focus to summoning more magical aura into his control, lowering his face as his eyes narrowed into a close. The sound of running water continued behind him as he set his mind on manifestation, and upon hearing the boy speak up again, Alfonse opened his eyes to glimpse up at him. He had the cloth prepared for grooming him. Seeing someone standing above him with a cloth to bathe him with... r-really made him feel sheepish and awkward. Imagine what Master Leon, or anyone from the clan would think of him if they saw him in this moment... i-it was so embarrassing... [break][break] Such sheepishness was strong enough to show in the way his Aquamarine hues averted towards the side, head remaining facing him. A whizzing notion around his front paws caught his attention and Alfonse glanced down to see the familiar whirl of illusory magic summoning at his beckoning again and in good timing. He lifted his head tall to gain back some of his pride, turning part-way to face the mirror. His tails gently flicked as he focused the purple glowing aura to fade from his paws, and instead fade onto the mirror in its natural transparent shine as they formed a response.[break][break]
'I don't mind. Thank you,'[break][break]
Alfonse looked back to the Demon, shyly gazing at the cloth before giving in to what he knew he needed... i-it was still super embarrassing, but he didn't want to show up back home covered in butter. H-he would never be able to come up with a probable excuse for that... a-and it was nice of the boy to be doing so much for him... he may have been embarrassed, but he was also quite thankful.

Casting upon the gently rolling waves of the ocean waters was a crystal-clear reflection of the numerous stars, shining brightly in the night sky. The Starlight Beach earned its name without a shadow of a doubt. Even far from the more so populated regions of the beach's attraction, the peaceful and isolated cove didn't surrender any of its splendor. Traveling there by foot would prove to be quite the task... much like a long hike through coastal hills to find a hidden treasure not nearly as touched as the open beaches. [break][break] It was past the time where sunlight may have warmed up the cove's region but the summer season led to it still being comfortable out in the night hours. Tonight was the absolute perfect night to see the stars and how they twinkled so prettily on the shore. It was so beautiful... and Alfonse was in a curious, cheerful mood to go outside and see the full moon at its best peak. He heard stories from one of the councilmen's apprentices about the Starlight Beach whenever it was nighttime during a full moon. The other boy, a teen slightly older than him, told him stories about how during the full moon the Beach seemingly came to life. The waters glittered, as did the sand, and if you created a special potion... something really cool would happen if you used it only when the night was clear.[break][break] Alfonse was enchanted just hearing about it and begged his parents to go out with him to the beach that night. Both his parents were busy as always, though. They both had something that was preoccupying them a lot and neither were sharing much about it. They wanted him to 'focus on school' and continue with practicing his magic training... and something about how 'the time will come' for him to 'know'. All the secret-keeping was discouraging him. [break][break] His parents didn't have time to go out and play with him that night but they also wouldn't allow for him to travel alone. Thus, after Alfonse's excited insistence of expressing his desires to see the full moon at its greatest peak, they gave in to his wishes but only with the company of others. Their long-time personal guard and comrade, Ezriel, was entrusted to stay with the boy as was his mother's assistant Mildred. Two of their most reliable and favored people. [break][break] When arriving at the private cove, Alfonse's breath was practically stolen from him as the very shining beach he'd heard so much about during a full moon cast before him. He froze in his steps, momentarily taking it in, before he excitedly bolted into a run headed towards the shoreline. "B-be careful, Alfonse...! Don't trip and fall!" Mildred called out fretfully. The young woman was dressed in casual boho style pants, a simple white tank-top and unbuttoned light coat making up her attire. Her hair was pulled in a messy braided bun, strands of her bangs framing her face. Ezriel on the other hand was much more suited-up with a hooded black coat concealing a muscular physique, intricate straps decorating his arms and concealing a weaponry holster worn as a single strap crossing his chest. The man was very tall and his hood hid his face, of which case didn't create a very welcoming aura surrounding him.[break][break] "Ezriel, Mildred, look! The sand really does shimmer like the stars," Alfonse expressively called out. The more he ran into the depths of the beach's grounds, the more he felt like the Moon was shining upon him and everything surrounding him in a welcoming embrace. "-- Alfonse, please don't run by the rocks!" Mildred called out nervously as she pulled up her pants while tying to cross the sand. "I-I do wish I had time to change my clothes to something more appropriate..." She huffed to herself breathlessly.[break][break] Alfonse was, indeed, not far from a rocky hillside that protruded from the shore and entered a little ways into the ocean. The boy had sprinted so fast that he easily left the two adults behind, though Ezriel was in no hurry. "Stay where we can watch--" The sound of Mildred's voice reached the boy's ears but was diminished by the increasing noise of gently rolling waves as he drew closer to the dampened beach. Finally, he listened and changed directions from where he was running away the cliffside she was so worried about. "I know," He called out to her, slowing down and flailing his arms cheerfully, "I won't go far, I promise!"[break][break] He hoped Mildred wouldn't be nervously hovering over him the whole entire time in anxiety of him somehow getting hurt. Thankfully, she didn't. He went along with her idea of building a sand castle together, which seemed to soothe her greatly as the sound of gentle water and peaceful isolation of the beach captured the area. Ezriel found a private spot of his own around by the shoreline, sitting upon a tall rock that observed the distant ocean. [break][break] Walking with a determined bounce in his step, Alfonse came back from scavenging for more shells to use as decoration for their castle. His bare feet left footprints behind him as he ventured back to where Mildred was waiting for him. "I found different shells we can use. See, this one is a really pretty silver color--" The boy began with a smile upon his face, eyes gazing upon the collection of shells in his hands. Before he finished, he looked to Mildred. Laying upon the blanket she'd placed for them, the young woman had fallen asleep on her side. The sight surprised Alfonse as the boy gazed upon her with large, curious eyes. "Mildred?" He quietly whispered, kneeling down before her... and after looking at her a moment longer, it was apparent she was in a deep slumber. The boy's smile softened. Poor Mildred must have been exhausted... it was nice of her to come with him to the beach even when she must have been feeling drained. [break][break]
He set the shells down quietly by the unfinished castle and stood back up. Alfonse didn't want to wake her when she looked so peaceful and so tired... thus, the boy turned around to look at the ocean waters. Quiet, consistently crashing on the shore... as he watched, Alfonse felt a tranquility fill him that his youthful exuberance hindered him from experiencing when originally arriving. The boy walked towards the shoreline, feeling the sand beneath his toes as he reached the border where the ground was damp. The sand reminded him of finely crushed silver-white diamonds, soft but cool underneath his feet. His Aquamarine hues gently narrowed as they watched the water... how the moonlight reflected clearly upon the surface with every sway and ripple. The glowing white aura from the moon was so pure that his own eyes illuminated from it, lost in silent appreciation.[break][break] ((OOC: Woo-hoo, LONG STARTER POST xD The muse hits when it hits, I guess!
