Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

“
...I can turn into a human… and try to explain,” Josuah actually offered him, and Brendon filled with a deep warmth at the knowledge that he was trying to help him. He was willing to do something that made him so uncomfortable to try and help his own embarrassment and discomfort. His familiar stated the obvious next; that his mother, and even Judith, his mother’s long-time friend, didn’t trust him. They were very suspicious and even being mean to him.
‘I’m going to try,’ Brendon told him in return with newfound determination. ‘You already told me how embarrassed you are when you’re human, and you don’t want them to see!’
“Josuah is my familiar!” He suddenly announced, turning his small and determined gaze back to his mother, who had immediately snapped her attention back to him upon hearing his exclamation.
“Wha…?”
“He was hurt and he had this really big, ugly, huge, curse all over him, and so I broke it!” He went on, his voice loud, but not quite shouting. “I think we completed the binding contract at that point,” He added as an afterthought, growing more quieter, and looked between his mom and the golden wolf. “And then I fell asleep, because I didn’t realize how big the curse was, and it took up all of my energy.” He added a bit sheepishly at the end, scratching awkwardly at his cheek with one of his fingers, and gave a bit of a goofy and hesitant smile.

rendon felt an ache deep within his chest when Josuah moved and gave his mother what she had rudely demanded, even in despite of his own protest. He didn’t need to do that! And in that moment his frustration and hurt got the better of him, as he accidentally projected his voice into Josuah’s head. ‘You didn’t need to move!’ He protested and then grew embarrassed as he realized what he had done. But then, oddly, it brought him comfort… being able to speak to Josuah, privately, even with others around. Th-That’s right! He’d… give him what-for!
“Let’s start from the beginning,” His mother distracted him, however, when she spoke again. Reluctantly, he brought his amber gaze to her as she stared down at him with tears in her eyes. His brows immediately knit together; he didn’t understand why she seemed to be so unbearably upset. “Tell me what happened.”
“What happened?” Brendon echoed, clearly confused. But then, belatedly, he felt that she must have been referring to the fact that he and Josuah had bonded, and the realization made him embarrassed. “I—I don’t know!” He blurted out, cheeks pink. “I, I mean…”
Nervously, he looked to Josuah, which seemed to gain the attention of his mother, who also glanced over at him, except with suspicion.

“
Mom...!” Brendon finally vocalized his complaints and struggled to push back, and out of the embrace that had been smothering. His heart had sped up in his embarrassment, his cheeks on fire. She seemed to reluctantly allow him to draw back, and then to Brendon’s surprise, she actually brought her gaze to Josuah and addressed him.
“Shoo,” She told him with sternness but also upset, waving him off with a arm and pointing him in the direction of the back of the room. “Stand back and away, give us room to breathe!”
“Mom!” Brendon immediately gasped, w-with a pinch of outrage gripping his heart. He felt the anger flare to life inside of him, indignant toward the way she had spoken to Josuah, th-the way she would treat him! “H—He’s my familiar!” He told her with a small fierceness, and his words and tone immediately caused her to look back at him with mild shock. But also hurt, and sorrow, as she blinked back more tears, and reached out to cradle him, her voice breaking when she did speak.
“Sweety… You… have to let me know what’s going on…”

he grin that Brendon held quickly faltered the moment he both felt and saw the flash of fear that swept across Josuah’s features. He could feel his alarm, and immediately understood that someone was at the door, which also caused him to jerk his gaze in that direction. Within his peripheral vision he could see the familiar shifting back into the large, golden, wolf, and standing rigid.
The door came open then, and his mother stepped in through the open doorway. The light brown hue of her eyes first hitched on Josuah’s stiff form, her own features taut with uncomfortable tension, but the moment she spotted him on the bed, it was as if all of that apprehension simply vanished. Brendon was completely surprised when she rushed forward, tears already clinging to her eyes, to wrap her arms around him.
“My baby boy,” She wept weakly, and sat down on the bed, drawing him over into her lap. “You’re okay. You’re awake,” She laughed softly, as though feeling immense relief, as one of her hands rubbed his back and her other lifted to the side of his head, pulling him against her collarbone and into an embrace.
By this point, Brendon’s face had gone completely pink. Embarrassment had flooded his entire form. H-He couldn’t believe his mom was t-treating him like this… a-and in front of Josuah...!
Another woman had come with his mother, but Brendon hadn’t been able to notice her. She had stepped inside as well, and remained stiff with apprehension as she stood beside August at the bedside, but her gaze was trained on the wolf.

o Brendon’s surprise, Josuah actually fumbled a little bit, bumping into a nearby chair, and had to reach out to steady it. When he looked to him, too, he looked like he was quite grumpy with him and frustrated — and it reminded Brendon of how Josuah had constantly been making him feel this whole time.
“You… You shouldn’t say it like that…,” The golden haired boy protested, and seemed to stop his advance toward him, instead standing by the chair and gripping its back within his grasp. “It’s my job to protect you…”
“It’s your job to do what I say,” Brendon cheekily returned, flashing him an open mouthed grin that revealed his white teeth.

osuah immediately called out for him to wait, and Brendon did pause, but only to look to the golden haired boy with expectation. “You’re so… reckless,” He chastised him, and Brendon felt himself suddenly smiling, the expression lighting up his face, as he felt the very real feeling of embarrassment filter in from Josuah’s direction.
“No I’m not,” He replied boldly. Despite his smile, and his obvious happiness, and even excitement, the tiredness still remained; in the way his body slumped and his gaze somewhat lulled. “I’m your master now,” He even went on to say, rather cheekily, as he waited for his familiar to come over.
The thought had bothered him so much before; it was why he had fought against it so vehemently when his mother had brought it up. He wondered why… it didn’t seem to bother him now, at least not too much, knowing that… that his soul had been… merged with Josuah’s.
“So you have to listen to me, and let me heal you.” He decided, with that same big smile on his face.

hen the boy’s gaze lifted to meet his own, the pain and sorrow within his chest immediately intensified. He was so small, so young, j-just like himself, and to be standing there in such torn up clothing, living in the wild, with scars and sores covering his battered body…
Tears swelled within his eyes, causing his heart to clench up painfully tight. But, as quickly as Josuah had looked to him, he glanced away, tensing up, and telling him no. Always telling him no.
“You have… you have to regain your strength…”
“If you don’t let me, then I won’t stop using up all my strength to do it,” Brendon threatened him back, almost immediately, his gaze narrowing, and to show his intent he began to pull the covers away from his body with every intention to get out of the bed and chase him down just like he had done before…!

“
I can…,” Josuah spoke up to say, but did notably trail off, as though to fall into deep thought. Brendon had brought his gaze over in his direction again, waiting and watching, seeing the deep brown of the wood and the imperfect white of the painted tapestry. “I can show you…,” But, when he heard those worse, his heart suddenly skipped a beat, and his eyes widened with surprise.
He felt his own tension swell up within him, making him feel rigid and stiff, his face heating a little as he stared, fixated, at the edge of the room divider, waiting for the wolf to appear. A-And he did — he stepped out. Heat poured thickly throughout his body as his amber eyes almost greedily took in the human form of the familiar. His clothes were old, of poor quality, ripped and torn, and Brendon could see how his skin was covered by the dust and dirt and other outside debris. But, what was most alarming, was just how… hurt he was. Physically hurt, with scratches, and scabs, and even deep wounds that had sealed over, scars…
Emotion bombarded Brendon, caging around his heart, and instantly making his eyes sting and his nose burn. The reaction had come so powerfully, and all on its own. He didn’t know why he was so affected with the thought of Josuah being hurt, but it seemed to affect his very soul.
“Y-You’re hurt,” He mentioned, his voice strained and filled with a deep yearning to heal him. “I… I can heal you.”

“
I’m not… comfortable as a human…,” Josuah revealed to him, but Brendon could feel his discomfort. He could feel his strain and his sadness, even from across the room. But, he was also bogged down with his own tiredness, and having all of the familiar’s emotions enter his body was… exhausting.
“That’s okay…,” He told him in return, his voice actually soft for once, as he settled into the tired content he felt, slumped forward and resting on the bed. “Although, I really want it…,” He admitted a little belatedly, and reached up to rub at one of his eyes. “A lot…,” He added, frowned, and then… blushed a little, because he didn’t know what he was even going on about.

he golden wolf rose from where he had perched himself on the floor, but he didn’t speak to him in return. Instead, he wandered the interior of his room and actually disappeared behind a solid wood divider that held hand painted designs of the forest within its panels. Brendon could feel the weight of his frown pressing at the corners of his mouth while his tired gaze narrowed in that direction, still feeling rather frustrated over the entire situation and the wolf’s lack of cooperation with him.
But, quickly enough, he realized what was going on; he could feel it inside of him, a strange sensation, and he knew, even without physically seeing, that Josuah was actually changing into his human form. The realization caused the fourteen year old’s gaze to widen considerably, and for his mouth to become slightly agape. He felt an odd fluttering sensation at his heart, which then thumped harshly, and strained, the moment he heard the external sound of Josuah’s voice filling his own bedroom.
“Let us… talk… this way…”
Warmth spread all throughout Brendon’s body, causing his fingers to curl and clutch around the fabric of his thick covers. “O-Okay,” He immediately returned, a little breathlessly, unable to hide his excitement.

osuah refused, very adamantly so. Brendon could feel his refusal through his emotions, even before the large wolf rose from the bed and jumped down to begin pacing the length of his bedroom. But, Brendon could also feel that not only was he adamantly refusing him, but he was also overwhelmed by his booming, mad, voice within his head. The wolf felt extremely restless and trapped, and for whatever reason was absolutely refusing to become his human form…!
‘Fine…,’ Brendon sulked, his face clearly portraying his grumpiness as he continued to glower down at the beast who had taken up his position on the floor, facing away from him. ‘If you’re not going to switch to your human form, then there’s no point in going all silent on me.’
Brendon folded his arms across his chest, still feeling frustrated and annoyed, but his tiredness was getting the better of him. He was clearly hunching forward from the exhaustion he felt, from simply sitting up within the bed. There was also a dizziness that had consumed him, making him feel a bit light-headed.
‘I… I saved your life,’ He exaggerated, a little pink in the face. ‘And then I don’t know what happened. You, You bonded with me, o-or something! So, the very least you can do is talk to me,’ He told him but then added; ‘Even if it is annoying.’

rendon could see that he had effectively startled the wolf. He could feel the subtle emotions filtering into him as well, of his reaction. But, what Brendon focused on more was how his name had sounded. It had come to him, as some sort of unconscious knowledge, but hearing it so powerfully and boldly spoken was a bit… embarrassing. It—It was annoying that he knew his name in the first place! It was annoying that Josuah probably knew his name, too! H-He hadn’t given it! So, obviously, it was apart of this whole “familiar” thing, which was also annoying too. Everything was annoying!
“...I… I won’t do it again…,” The wolf returned, but the fact that he was still speaking within his mind, and filling his head with his voice, completely contradicted his statement.
Brendon’s gaze narrowed further, and he stubbornly began to try and sit up within the bed. He felt moody, and grumpy, and a need to sit up and glare at the familiar. But, getting up was a lot harder than he would have liked. As he turned and pressed his hands against the mattress of the bed, using the strength of his arms to push himself up, he could feel the strain directly linking to his heart. H-He was so… worn out...! Still, he managed to get up, and turn his sour, but tired, gaze onto the wolf who had also taken up space on his bed.
‘I know you’re a familiar!’ He told him, in his mind, loud and clear, making sure to resonate within him… j-just for good measure! ‘So that means you can turn into a person and talk to me!’

trange feelings began to seep into him, spreading across his body, until they traveled to his heart, wrapping around it and encasing it. A feeling of embarrassment, but one different from his own, one born of hesitation and exposure, of self-consciousness, and a deep discomfort of not belonging. It flooded him, spreading throughout his entire small being, and even though it was confusing, as the wolf turned his gaze away from him, closed his eyes, and went eerily silent, Brendon felt that he knew that the feelings belonged to him.
It also filled him with a strange want, envisioning himself within the snow, with the wolf laying on top of him. It shifted into a thought of it now, from within the bed, but as quickly as he realized what it was he was thinking, what he was seeing, he instantly banished it, his heart jumping in alarm as he physically moved one of his hands up through the air as though to disperse the thought entirely. His arms were still heavy and weighed down, making his movement weak and slow, but he had felt compelled to do it nonetheless.
“F-Fine, I’ll… I’ll just do it to you,” He grumpily decided, too shaken by all the different and bombarding sensations to really pull free from his rowdy and stubborn mood. Instead, he focused as intensely as he could and tried to boom his voice within his wolf, and be all intimate and personal, j-just like him! He’d do it too!

f the two of them were bonded, then that meant that the golden wolf was a familiar. The information dawned on him belatedly, despite the obvious. How had this… happened? Brendon wasn’t certain how he felt about it — he was just too tired to be able to really think all that coherently. And then, the familiar, was also taking everything in with such calm, even after he had gotten moody, even as he glowered up at the ceiling even right this minute, the wolf remained patient and calm whenever he spoke.
“...It would be best if you rest. ...You are… still weak from breaking my curse.” His voice filled his head again, and it was always such an alarming sensation. It felt private and intimate — and weird!
“Wh—Why are you talking in my head!” He demanded through a huff, finally drawing his gaze away from the ceiling to look back toward the golden wolf. “Y-You…! You should speak out loud like me!”

There are other ways… to create contracts, but I am… unaware of what they are.” The wolf’s voice continued to reach him, and dominate his mind, filling it, and taking over it. It felt somewhat overwhelming, but at the same time… he had never heard a voice that had sounded so… perfect. Again, he found himself blushing, and this time a strange sensation flowed through his body, starting from his feet, and swiftly traveling upward, leaving those goosebumps within its wake.
“W-Well…!” He blurted out, because of his embarrassment, wanting to say something in retaliation. “I don’t know!” Was his lame retribution that he exclaimed, only to then press his lips firmly together and silently stew, glowering up toward the ceiling with his cheeks puffed out.
