Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
shyness crept into his features but he didn't deny his claim and instead gave a light nod as he glanced away. Josuah was looking at him again and he could feel a tightness in his chest because what he was going to say would hurt him.
"...It's because I'm your...soulmate..." he whispered, his brows pushing together. "Your parents knew but kept it from us both...we're of the highest tier so they were afraid of...losing you to that connection."
Not all of this information was within the letter, but he had gathered it from the extensive studying he had done into soulmates. And denial of two souls was more common than he wanted to admit. People who didn't understand the connection made such terrible decisions...decisions that only benefited themselves. To only need one other person was something very few people could ever dream of understanding.
Josuah's gaze lowered to the couch because he could smell the burning of the material. He was angry inside, and trying to keep it hidden, but it had come out with the way his fingers dug into the armrest and began to burn the material away. He forced his hand back and remained deadly silent.
gain he unconsciously followed, his body moving closer to Brendon as he sat down and his own hand grasped onto the side of the armrest. A soft breath of tiredness parted from the boy's lips and it made him feel guilty because he was responsible for it.
"I know that he's on my side," Brendon began and everything he said about Hanzo felt reasonable. It would be good to have someone else on their side. But it was hard for him to let anyone else in...he was greedy for Brendon.
"...I have something to tell you that will upset you," Josuah told him softly and sighed his gaze lowering into a frown. "I know that you trust me for reasons...that seem to have no logical explanation."
osuah had seen the look in Brendon's eyes when he rose in height and even now he could feel the light thumping of embarrassment in his heart. He was drawn to him no matter his form and it was hard resisting. But he was content just being in the same room as him, it was fulfilling even if they weren't touching. It was still such a hard thing to believe...that he had found his soulmate...that he was there before him now.
"...You really trust him don't you?" Josuah asked, and there was a sadness in his voice as he spoke. "I know it's unfair...but it makes me jealous," he admitted openly, his gaze turning from Brendon.
osuah couldn't stop his thoughts when Brendon smiled down at him. His expression was so warm and inviting that he wanted to...make contact with him again. But was that just his Procubi side trying to bait him into feeding again?
Unconsciously, he drew to the tip of his toes, trying to gain height over Brendon or rather come closer to his lips. But he caught himself and looked taken aback by his actions.
"There's a lot to prepare," he muttered. "I want to rush it...so that we can be together sooner, but Hanzo is too much of a threat...he'll figure it out if we aren't careful."
rendon appeared shocked that he'd have to change his name, but after a moment of thought he soon understood why and it was clear that he wasn't happy about it. Josuah wanted to comfort him, to tell him that a name gifted by him would be very meaningful to him. But he didn't have to because his soulmate was already choosing a name.
Emerald sounded more masculine, but Sphene's meaning went deeper then that and choosing it came so naturally. "Sphene," he replied in a somewhat intense tone, as much as he could in his current form.
"I want that to be my name..." he told him softer and tilted his head looking to him with eyes that were wise beyond their years.
soft nod bobbed his brown hair before he became distracted with his outfit. It made Josuah feel obligated to explain to him why he had a deer design on his clothes. But there wasn't time for idle conversation.
He took in a deep breath and narrowed his gaze to Brendon's suited chest. "I'll have to return to my other disguise and inform the household of..." he paused, blinking as he realized something detrimental.
"What should my name be?" He asked, since his original had been taken.
rendon's ears flickered repeatedly as he listened, and Josuah could tell that he was trying not to get distracted by his new voice. He could feel the emotion of his past lurking within him especially when the reason for his mother's death was connected to them.
"No...this is a good disarming age," he supplied, large emerald irises lifting up to his. His words were ironic because innocent is exactly what he looked like. "Your offer is kind though," he told him quietly.
Was it selfish that he wanted Brendon to replace the memories of his past with new ones? That when he looked in the mirror that he wanted to see only them and not his mother's death? It had haunted him for so many years. How would Brendon react if he knew the truth?
The thought made his throat feel dry and he was suddenly met with the worry of somehow pushing him away. "I'll need to make preparations for...my arrival," Josuah mumbled, peering up at him again.
hand was brought to his cheek where he could feel the softness of a child now, but Brendon's approach caught his eye and slowly he looked to him. When he asked what was wrong Josuah felt a knot in his heart.
"...It's a heavy subject," he explained, but gasped softly, surprised at the sound of his voice. It was more embarrassing than he anticipated and it caused him to clear his throat a little trying to make it deeper.
"I lost my mother at this age..." he tried to explain, but was struggling a little, clearing his throat and frowning a bit as he tried to find familiarity in his new form.
rendon's cheeks became rosy as he watched him with a deep curiosity. He could feel his eyes on him even as he changed and finally when he was there before him...he could see his soulmate was satisfied.
"I, I like that one," he blurted out immediately, looking quite eager. Josuah gave a light nod, no hesitation in agreeing with him, but he did turn to move towards a furniture piece that allowed him to see his reflection.
His clothes had been an accident...and they were a source of unwanted memories. His features became strained as he gripped the shirt with his small fingers and lifted it. He could hear the sketching of tires...and exploding smash of glass and metal.
sigh parted from his other half's lips as he turned and finally created much needed distance between them. He wondered why he had placed the radio so far away, perhaps to try and forget about it's existence. Josuah watched him from where he was crouched, paying attention to little details others missed. He felt warmth in his heart when the boy scolded Hanzo, even if it made no difference...it was nice to hear.
When he returned, Josuah was finished, standing within the hex and breaking the other to appear as his older self. "I'll try twelve years old next," he offered because he was pretty certain 13 would be too similar to 14.
He closed his eyes again, focusing, remembering his design as a child. He could feel the energy of the hex as it filled with his power and began to change his from just as before. His eyes were larger now, more expressive, but still held that sharp handsomeness he did when he was older. He was also smaller than Brendon now, by more than a few inches and finally...he was in his old clothes.
He had blue jeans, gloves, and a jacket that covered him well, but what was embarrassing was the golden deer design he had on it. His clothes changed with each memory, it was only notable now because when he was fourteen he wore the same clothes as his older self.
rendon's amber eyes rose to his after his change, and immediately he grew moody. A very prominent whine left him in response as he demanded that he go younger. Josuah was surprised but also effected by his neediness.
"All right," he supplied and crouched down to begin drawing the hex symbol once more. It was during that time that Hanzo radioed in again and Josuah immediately looked to Brendon. But he didn't feel jealous.
"There's more we'll need to discuss when we find an appropriate age," he told him softly, his tone more youthful.
osuah made a low noise of tension the moment Brendon approached him. He felt unhinged around him but it wasn't because he was doing anything wrong. The older male gave a light nod as he closed his eyes and began to recall his younger self. Anything older he wouldn't have been able to remember because that was when his disguise had become a heavy part of his life.
Slowly, the hex beneath his feet began to glow, bathing them both in red light before his image shattered and beneath it was a slightly shorter male, but one who still very much appeared older that Brendon.
He exhaled slowly, feeling as though it hadn't used as much energy as before or maybe he just had more than usual circulating his body. "Will this do?" He asked, and was even taller than him, just by an inch or two.
awn ears twitched upward in surprise and then lowered with silent aggression. He was so expressive and it allowed Josuah to really take in what he was feeling. He could tell from visual alone that Brendon had become guarded with the thought of him looking like anyone other than himself. But the whole point of their conversation now was to keep him the same.
It took the boy some time, but eventually after much contemplation he agreed. Josuah would have liked to say he was patient, but truthfully he was...struggling. He would need to feed again soon to try and quell this growing urge inside of him. How long until he felt satisfied?
"What would you like?" Josuah asked and moved away from him in order to stand with the hex and wait. He didn't have any pictures of himself as a child because they had been lost during the accident that had killed his mother...and his father was never one to find value in pictures after that.
osuah was surprised to see Brendon climbing up onto the couch to peer down towards him. Seeing him there...filled him with yearning... It made him feel on edge and he tried to focus...to not give in.
"How would he feel about someone younger?" Josuah asked, and glanced towards the hex. "I could say I have a younger brother...and come as myself...in child form." He offered and looking back to the boy.
