Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
was this odd? to be talking to someone you didn't know too much about? it wasn't like she had avoided him on purpose. if anything she tired to talk to everyone in her class. she tried to be polite and inclusive. despite all the gossip she was the type to want to hear the actual truth from the person. not that she would walk up to someone and start questioning them. she wasn't nosy and liked to give people their space.
she knew all too well how cruel kids could be. she tried her best to have some sort of conversation with orion. it was rather difficult when you had nothing to go off. she had no idea what his likes or dislikes were. what he enjoyed to do, nothing of the sort. she nodded at his answer."oh, i wasn't able to catch the actual parade, but i did get to see some of the floats before it started."she told him before explaining a bit more."i'm working for the bakery. everyone loves food. so we have a booth here..um, yeah."she said with a smile."oh that reminds me."she said before digging into the pocket of her apron."here, so you guys can get something good."she tells him before handing him three coupons. the same ones she had been passing around before they ran into each other.
without a second thought it had slipped out. she called him cute, okay well his nickname. it was practically the same thing wasn't it? as if she wasn't embarrassed already. she had to go and say something awkward like that. she was ready to turn tail and run. to forget she had said that. she didn't know what to say. what was she going to say to that. she wasn't going to repeat herself. it would probably make matters worse. out of all the times she embarrassed herself this had to be one of the top ones."nothing, nothing."she tried to change the subject. though what could she say that would be a good alternative she had no idea.
as much as you say you will keep in touch it just doesn't happen. or it does and sooner or later both parties get busy with their own lives and messages don't get sent. it's part of life, but that didn't me you couldn't re-establish a connection. elysia's social circle wasn't big to begin with. which was fine with her. to her it wasn't about how many friends you have, but the quality of the friendships.
though she had to admit it was interesting to see who still stuck around here. she couldn't imagine leaving her father or her brother. it would feel odd not seeing them all the time. but why was she thinking about this right now? she felt bad for knowing about them, but not really knowing them personally.
orion had always been a quiet kid, but he seemed friendly enough. then again she wasn't super social in school either. she had she small group of friends and of course her brother. it didn't matter where you went gossip was always rampant. so who would be the topic for sometime. orion.
honestly they didn't have much interaction in school. they might of talked briefly, but if anything it was because it was school related. once she remembered how to speak she had directed the question back at him. she nodded."that's good, enjoying the parade?"was that okay to ask? he did seem busy and she didn't want to take up his time. after all he was here with his family and she should be working."good as well."she laughed nervously. sometimes it just felt like she didn't know what to say.
she could feel the warmth in her cheeks and it was kind of hard not to notice the ladies with him giggling to themselves. she was doing a fine job embarrassing herself, she had forgotten they were still there."sorry i didn't mean to interrupt."she told him as she watched them continue on without orion."ori huh? that's cute."she accidentally blurted out.
a small yawn escaped her lips as she continued walking. perhaps she should of grabbed an extra coffee. or at least added a shot or two of espresso. sure that extra shot of caffeine would keep her awake. that's alright though soon enough she would be having sugar and that would give her some alertness. she wasn't even that tired. she had gone to bed at a reasonable time. she didn't even have to get up as early as most days. maybe that was it. she slept a little too much. it wasn't like she was particularly stressed about something. she had been in the past, so much so that she couldn't really sleep or if she did it would be for a couple of hours. though really that stress had been worry. she had been worrying about things out of her control, but wasn't everyone like that at times?
it would pass, it wasn't like she was ready to fall asleep standing up. let alone with all the people and noise around her. she would stop once in a while and just hand out the coupons before continuing towards her destination. looking at a couple of different booths along the way. apart from the other booths that were also selling food. she spotted a couple of booths selling clothing, jewellery and other random trinkets. she wasn't sure if her brother or her father were going to make it to the festivities. she would have to bring them back a little souvenir.
she would definitely have to come back later and browse more thoroughly. she stopped once more and continued passing out the coupons and letting people know where their table was located. she was just about to continue walking when she heard someone call her name. she looked up and it wasn't until she turned around did she find the source of the voice. she was a little surprised to see him. that wasn't to say that he wasn't the type to come to these sorts of things. she just figured he would of left? the city was a fairly decent size, but you still had kids who wanted to leave and explore the world. had he still been here the entire time?
why hadn't they bumped into each other before? well, that was easy to answer, she rarely went out. she had stuck to the same routine since the had graduated from high school and entered college. go to work and then go to school. she needed to say something and not just stand there like a surprised idiot."orion, hi."she said with a smile before realizing he wasn't alone. why was she terrible with names. then again she never really met them. the other kids would simply speak of her or them."how's it going?"she smiled at them.
the annoying beeping of her alarm finally reached her. waking her and wishing she could still have a couple more minutes or at least another hour or two. a yawn escaped her lips as she threw the blankets off herself. she wasn't a fan of early mornings, but it was all routine by now. she grabbed her towel and headed towards the bath. a shower first thing in the morning helped her wake up. perhaps if she used cold water, but the warm water was so nice and inviting.
though if she remained in the soothing waters any longer it would make her late. after getting dressed she towel dried her hair as best as she could before she ran a brush through her hair before heading to the kitchen to grab a couple things for a quick breakfast. she stuffed an apple, an orange and a bottle of water into her bag before grabbing her colorful apron. she was excited about today. yes, she had to work during the parade, but at least she would be out of the cafe. she would be outside running a booth on behalf of the cafe. thankfully she wasn't running it by herself. otherwise she wouldn't be able to sneak off and wander through the park.
she grabbed her keys before heading towards the front entrance."i'm leaving."she called out to anyone who was still at home. though she was pretty sure both her brother and father had left before her. though if it just so happened one of them was still around they would know she was leaving for work. she wasn't sure when she had picked up the habit. yes, it was a little embarrassing telling someone you're leaving especially if no one else was home, but she had been doing it for so long it didn't bother her anymore.
once at work, thankfully the hard part was done. what she needed to do was help pack the goodies that would be distributed at the event. there were full sizes of several pastries and of course the samples. the objective was to not only advertise for the cafe, but half of the proceeds would be donated. after everything was loaded she quickly grabbed a coffee before heading over to the park.
elysia hummed quietly to herself while she helped set up. she noticed groups of people here and there getting ready for to watch the parade and some even seemed like they were going to be in the parade. she wouldn't be able to catch the whole thing, but whatever she did manage to catch would be nice. it wasn't until she saw the influx of people did she realize the parade was over. she had managed to sneak away for a few seconds. catching a couple of floats pass by. everything was so colorful and vibrant. it was good weather for the parade as well.
now back at the booth things were starting to get busy. one couldn't come to any sort of event and not expect there to be food vendors. their was various kinds scattered around. she had spotted an ice cream stand when she had come back. she would have to visit that before they left. once it slowed down she grabbed a couple of coupons. she figured it would be easier if they passed these out and not the actual samples. the last thing she needed was to get bumped into. she wasn't that clumsy, but she would rather avoid dropping any of the goodies if she could."should i bring you some ice cream?"elysia asked her co-worker. heading off once she got an answer. along the way she started handing out the coupons. telling the potential customers what they could redeem if they headed towards their table. she wanted to get rid of most of the coupons before heading to get her treat."hello, if you have a sweet tooth please try our pastries."elysia said with a smile as she continued to advertise to anyone who looked her way. she would of said she stood out with her colorful apron, but everyone else had a splash of color or two on them as well.

colette seemed so eager to have her attend the party. or that's what elysia assumed. she could of been wrong. it's not everyday you bump into someone at the grocery store and then end up invited to some fancy party. maybe she should of declined. though part of her wanted to prove colette wrong. that she wouldn't say no. prove to herself that she could be adventurous.
she laughs softly."alright, i won't make that mistake again."she says as she watches colette carry various boxes to the cart.
so maybe she was excited that elysia had agreed to attend."yes. if that's okay."she asks once more. she really didn't have to attend if she was just going to be a disturbance. she smiles as colette composes herself."okay okay."she says with a nod."what? no you don't need to do that. i can just change at home."it was clearly evident that the girls were some different social classes. doubt was starting to set in. maybe she should of declined. she didn't want to cause anyone problems. though it seemed like it was a little to late to decline.
she couldn't especially after seeing colette so excited that she had agreed to attend. she wasn't too sure she would have dresses that would fit the party. well, she didn't exactly know what the dress code was going to be."what kind of dresses? i have dresses..."she said with a nervous laugh.

elysia can't help, but laugh at how animated colette is. clearly the girl is on a mission. she made sure she didn't get left behind, keeping a decent pace beside kara. well, when there was room. elysia nodded in agreement. sure you couldn't please everyone, but having more than one option could help."that sounds fun."elysia commented with a smile as he imagined the types of parties they would have.
elysia wasn't much of a party person. she attended birthday parties and small get together, but nothing too extravagant as she imagined most parties would be. would they be similar to the ones that were often on tv? or were they something completely different?
she laughs."yes, i guess that would be possible. getting distracted by things or conversations. she had been so caught up talking with kara that seeing colette with an arm load of food surprised her."you got enough there?"she asked jokingly.
the sudden invite surprised her even more. elysia smiled while she pondered the invite. everything she was saying was true. they had just met, but then why ask her in the first place?"why not? i think it would be fun."elysia told her with a grin."i mean i have nothing planned after this. though are you sure?"
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LOVE WILL NEVER BE FOREVER feelings are just like the weather - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
elysia smiles and nods."yes, im sure. really the only thing i had planned for today was to go grocery shopping. so spending a few extra minutes here is not going to hurt my non-existent plans whatsoever."
all she had to do after this was put the groceries away and cook dinner. which wasn't going to be hard to do. if anything they had leftovers and that would do just as well. elysia laughs at her enthusiasm and follows behind.
elysia nodded at kara's response. it made sense to get a variety. seeing as it wasn't just going to be for a single person. with more choices, there was a better chance that there would be something for everyone to enjoy."oh that makes sense. that way hopefully everyone gets a pick of their favorite."
she smiles."oh, well that's fun. i think it's a bit more fun when you don't have to shop for things on your own. sure you get things done quicker, well perhaps."she laughs softly."well, i know i can get distracted at times."she continued feeling like now she was just rambling.
it seemed like she had been staring at her phone for what seemed like ages. checking the time and then eventually going back to the contact information she had recieved. not much information was given. just time, location and of course the person's name. she turned off her phone and slipped into her pocket. which was a great thing about this dress. apart from being really cute, it had pockets.
her thoughts about pockets and dresses were interrupted by some obnoxious laughter. she had been so distracted she wasn't looking towards the entrance anymore. which had been the reason she had stayed there. so see if her date would arrive in case she had been early enough to show up. she stood up and made her way towards them. seriously people could be so rude. it was true, he didn't look like everyone else here, but what was wrong with being different. it wasn't till she had reached him that she started to feel nervous. she had never been good at this dating thing. what if they had nothing to talk about. elysia knew she was capable of talking way too much and she hoped she didn't do that even if there was some sort of awkward silence between them.
"sorry i'm late. i'm elysia your date."she told him with a smile.
how did things turn out this way? her friends had been talking about it. they were all going to sign up. somehow they ended up saying that she wasn't as spontaneous as they were. one thing lead to another and she ended up signing her name and to her disbelief, they had all backed out. she hadn't told anyone where she was heading, least of all her brother. after the teasing she pulled on him, she knew that he would definitely use this to his full advantage. it's not like she snuck out. she was going out and she wouldn't be out too late.
hey, at least she wouldn't be spending today alone. for all, she knew maybe she would make a new friend today? she was a pretty sociable person, but this whole thing was making her nervous. then again who wouldn't be nervous. this wasn't something she typically did. she was too focused on her studies to worry about dating and the like. yet, here she was. it wasn't like she wasn't going to show up. she wasn't that mean. she smoothed her dress down as she waited for her date to arrive. she was a little early. she was afraid she was going to be late, considering how long she had taken to decide on an outfit. should she wear something comfortable or something cute? in the end she ended up picking a knee-length dark floral dress. she had her hair down in loose curls.
maybe she was late? had she missed them? she should have arrived sooner. well, there was no sense in fretting. a few more minutes of waiting wouldn't hurt. she moved away from the entrance and took a seat on a nearby bench. she pulled her phone out and randomly checked the time.

elysia smiled at her and nodded. why focus on the fact that she had almost forgotten something, when in fact she didn't because she had remembered. sure it had been a close call, but it wasn't like coco had remembered when she was already heading back home. thankfully she was still in the store when she remembered.
"besides the bread and eggs, i think i will be all set."she tells them with a nod."i don't mind walking with you. i can wait till we are all ready to check out."she told them with another nod. it wasn't like she had anything important to do at home. well, besides put away groceries, but other than that she didn't mind staying out.
she figured if they still had a bit of walking to do it wouldn't hurt to continue to talk."so who's the cake for? are you having a special event?"she asked curiously. she was usually pretty good about keeping track of birthdays. she didn't throw big parties or anything like that, but she did make at least birthday cake.

elysia goes back to checking her list as well. marking the things that she had placed in her cart. it seemed everyone needed the essentials, bread and eggs."that sounds like a plan. eggs and bread are also on my list."she tells colette with a nod as she pushes her cart towards the fruits and vegetables section."i also need to grab some fruit."she tells her as she makes her way towards the fruit. leaving her cart as she grabs a bag of oranges and a couple of apples.
she places them in her cart and starts walking towards the vegetables. she needed spinach, tomatoes and onions. she gathers her items and sets them in the cart. she's startled once more by colettes sudden gasp, but before she has the chance to ask what's wrong the blonde was already speaking."hey at least you remembered. it would be a pain to have to return to the store for a single item."elysia says with a small laugh.

she was alright with silence. sometimes people just ran out of things to talk about and honestly she wasn't the type to fill the void with random chatter. elysia laughed softly at his words, about not relaxing."well, im glad you enjoyed your drink."she told him honestly, considering the amount of suggestion she had given him were not that great.
she smiled curiously at him, taking notice of the way his cheeks were flushed. maybe she was reading too much into it or maybe he liked this friend."well i would hope so. like i said doctors work very hard and long hours. so it's only right they get their rest so they can do their absolute best."she told him with a nod.
"i'll keep my fingers that friend of your will get you to relax once in a while."she told him with a smile as she noticed that he was getting ready to leave. glancing at the time she figured it was about time she started to pick up."yes, also please take care."she told him before starting to clear the dishes from the table.

she never would of guessed colette had gone through those troubles. from a glance she had figured the girl was just excited. she knew she could get excited over random things. though more so when it came to her brother. she probably would never be able to get him back for all those pranks that he would pull, but she knew what would make him flustered and for her that was enough.
the thought of that simply brought a smile to her face. probably not the best time to have her thoughts wander off. she returned her attention back to kara. she nods in response trying to think of what to say."well, for the time being she can talk to me too."elysia said with a smile.
elysia looks at her list once more before moving on to the next section that colette had mentioned. she looked up while she spoke."oh just the essentials. milk, eggs, and bread. a couple of things here and there that we are running low on."she continues."i have most of those things already. though i do need to stock up on some more veggies."she tells her with a nod.

elysia took another sip of her drink. it had cooled down enough that she could take longer sips without risk of burning her tongue. it was delicious, how long had it been since she had one of these. while he answered her questions elysia tore another piece of her croissant and proceeded to dip it in her cappuccino once more.
"that's nice. i understand, i think i would be hard to just work in one specific place. this way you're able to help in different areas."elysia nodded her head in agreement. after that it got rather quiet for a few minutes. elysia took this time to finish up her croissant. she was okay with silence and didn't find it necessary to always fill the void. it wasn't like it was an awkward silence.
she had found herself distracted as well. she usually was whenever she sat near the window. gazing out once the conversation had ceased. he had brought her back once he had apologized. she smiled and shook her head."it's alright. you probably came here to relax and im just asking questions."she told him before finishing the last of her cappuccino.
"well your line of work can be very difficult and stressful. so make sure you're getting plenty of rest mister."she told him with a nod.

she smiled and nodded after hearing that he was enjoying the muffin. she laughed softly at his response. she had been ready to ask him what took up most of his time when he mentioned he worked at the hospital. she had forgotten that the hospital wasn't too far from the cafe. she figured most wouldn't come out with their white coats on. they would more than likely leave them at the hospital.
"so you're a doctor? general or do you have a specialization?"she asked curiously. most of the time she had thought about going into the medical field. considering she had a healing ability, but it stressed her out. she didn't think she was cut out to see all those injured people and all the blood. she wasn't the type to faint at the sight of blood, but just seeing too much of it didn't sit well with her.
