Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

a small yawn escaped her lips as she made her way inside. she should have not stayed up so late. winter break was totally messing with her sleep schedule. she of course still had to work, but it wasn't like it was ever day. she was ready for her own cup of coffee. she rarely got anything more than milk and a couple sugars in her coffee. though there would be times she would venture out and try some flavored creamer. though her favorite would have to be the coconut one. the smell of coffee and warm pastries hit her once she stepped inside. she quickly made her way towards the back to put her things away and put on her apron. her hair was tied back into a ponytail to keep her hair away from her face while she worked. she had noticed a couple of people already sitting and sipping their coffees at various tables.
she walked around collecting dishes left behind and refilling regular cups of coffee. eventually she made her way back towards the counter. she had forgotten to get her own cup of coffee ready. though at the moment there was no time as more people searching for caffeine started to walk in. they were pretty simple orders. once they had there to go cup they paid and left. it seemed like she would have to wait a little longer before she could her caffeine fix.
Zachary had just finished a long shift at work before leaving the hospital for a break. He didn't have to go for a coffee run, but felt the desire to do so. He had taken so many days off each time his girl friend had attacked him that he had found the stress somewhat distracting at work. In fact this had been his first week completed after returning to work after his leave of absence so that he could get better. He slowly exited the hospital, keeping an eye on his surroundings as he walked along the side walk. Where should I go? He thought to himself as he looked around at some of the different venues in the area. Within a few minutes he had stopped in front of one before reaching out to open the door he went inside before releasing the handle to step in line.
There were a few people a head of him, giving him a chance to look over the menu for something to drink. Once it was his turn, he found himself still staring at the menu, unsure of what he wanted to drink... I came all this way and I can't even decide now.... What is my problem? He would have stepped out of line to continue looking over the menu, but at this current moment, customers had stopped entering. Meaning there was nobody behind him that could take their turn to order, so unfortunately, he was next in line whether they wanted him to be or not. With any luck, the guy in the formal attire would order soon so that they could prepare it for him to enjoy. I just don't know what I want today.... I really don't want my regular....
He glanced towards the girl, "Any suggestions?" He asked, not normally asking but today he would. He couldn't help but notice her name tag say her first name on it, unaware that he was talking to his friend's younger sister. Oh how he missed Desmond and wished he could join him.

while some people took orders she was towards the end cashing people out. from time to time she would rotate with another person. it all depended on who was busy and who could get to the register first. she enjoyed the rush as crazy as that sounded. waiting around and doing nothing made the day go by pretty slowly. the busier they were the faster time went along.
she hated just standing around and not being able to do something. though at the moment she wasn't bored. she smiled at the man who was trying to decide what to get. she laughed softly not sure to what to suggest. she tried to think of what was most popular."well, if you don't want coffee we also have tea and hot chocolate."she told him as she tried to think of one more thing to suggest."oh, the french vanilla cappuccino is also delicious. i get that quite often."she told him with a smile.
Zachary smiled when she had laughed after asking his question. He didn't mind, finding laughing to be joyful. Her suggestions were noted but he knew that he wanted coffee... Perhaps another time for the other options. She then told him another suggestion, "I'll have that." He decided to give it a try. Mostly because he wasn't in the mood for regular and frankly it sounded like it was good. He then pulled out his wallet from his back pocket before pulling cash out to pay the bill, being sure to leave a tip before slipping it back into his pocket. "Thanks for the suggestion." He answered back, having to remind himself to remember this order for next time. He waited for his coffee to be prepared before collecting it from the nice lady. My plan had been to return back to work but.... I sorta want to enjoy it here now. He thought to himself before moving to sit at a table near the window. He would place the palm of his hand under his chin as he peeked out the window, curious if he would see Desmond or not. Oh how he wished to see him, badly.

she wasn't asked too often to suggest something. she felt like she was the wrong person to be asking. she wasn't as adventurous as some of the other people that worked here. she was glad that she had managed to come up with something and not let the guy go empty handed. while she waited for his response she looked at the menu on the counter. trying to think of another possible choice. though it seemed like that wouldn't be necessary as he had gone with her third suggestion. she smiled and nodded while she put his order in.
he had thanked her for her suggestion and she nodded."no problem."she told him before returning a few moments later with his french vanilla cappuccino."enjoy."she told him as she handed him his beverage. she might just have to skip her usual coffee and get one as well. she had five minutes till her scheduled break.
she was glad the rush was had slowed. she wouldn't of taken her break had it been super busy. she wondered if the guy had liked his cappuccino. it didn't seem like he had had one before. just in case he didn't she figured she could bring him a pastry. she was craving one herself. she walked over with the plate in hand and stopped at his table."sorry, this goes well with the cappuccino. just in case you didn't like it."she told him as she sat down the the chocolate chip muffin.
Zachary had taken a sip of his cappuccino, enjoying it more than his regular. So now it would seem, he would have two choices when coming here instead of the normal one. No, instead of being called regulars, he would have to call them by now name, but that would be for another time. He had been looking outside the window when she had walked over to his table, Her voice had caught his attention and he turned to her with a smile on his face. "I love the cappuccino." He answered, taking another sip, not really to prove anything just that he was in fact enjoying it.
She had set the plate down on the table. "Thank you." He appreciated the gesture in bringing him the chocolate chip muffin. "Please take a seat." He would answer in reply, assuming that she wasn't busy. He knew that he could offer to pay for her drink but he couldn't help but feel like it would possibly betray Desmond and he didn't want to risk it. "I'm Zachary, it is a pleasure to meet you." He slowly reached out his hand to take hers, planning on shaking it. Though he hadn't given a last name, with his appearance, it might be easier to assume he might be the guy, the one that helps his patients at the hospital.

she smiled at his word of thanks."of course, it's no problem."he had offered her to take a seat and honestly she hadn't thought he would do so. she just assumed that he was waiting for someone."oh, you're not waiting for someone?"she asked him a little embarrassed she had asked."i am on break. let me go get something so im not awkwardly staring at you while you eat. not that i would stare, that's rude."she said with a laugh. she had yet to leave to go get her own beverage when he introduced himself.
she took his hand in her own and shook it."it's nice to meet you too zachary. i'm elysia."she told him."i'll be right back."and with that she had left him for the moment to retrieve her own goodies. she ended up getting a cappuccino just like she had suggested to him, though the pastry she got was just a croissant. she had returned and set her things on the table sitting across from him.
Zachary smiled at her when she seemed somewhat embarrassed, or at least that is what he thought. "No, I'm not." He answered, somewhat sad with his honest answer. Oh what he would give to see Desmond right about now. When she mentioned being on break and how she would come back with something, he chuckled. "No worries." He would answer before giving his name to her, they shook hands with she told him her name in return. He waited for her to return, or hadn't yet finished his drink or the pastry she had given him. Stuck on his thoughts of wanting to see Desmond. What is he up to? I wonder what he is seeing right now. I hope it is a wonderful sight instead of a horrible one. He thought to himself with a sigh, he had been stuck in his thoughts when she had returned to the table. He noticed moment and glanced her direction to see that she had come back as she had said she would, with a cappuccino and pastry of her own. He reached out to eat the muffin that she had brought to him earlier, smiling as it tasted so good.

she was glad she wasn't taking someone's spot. how embarrassing would that of been. them showing up and elysia was sitting in there spot. she had gone back to make her own cappuccino and she could feel the stares of her co-workers. the way they looked at her, she knew something was up. though she would have to question them later.
she had returned a little embarrassed with the looks she was receiving, but she decided to ignore them for now. she blew on her beverage to cool it down before taking a sip. it had been a while since she had one. she enjoyed them, because they were not too overly sweet. she had returned, but she wasn't sure what to talk about. she could think of many things to say, but she didn't want to sound like she was questioning him simply to make conversation.
she tore off a piece of her croissant and dipped it into the cappuccino before taking a bite."do you like the muffin?"she asked feeling silly for asking in the first place."i wasn't sure if you were a chocolate person or not."she rambled."i know some don't like it..."she said trailing off."do you come here often? i feel like i've seen you before, then again im only here when im not at school."she told him with a smile. she was probably talking too much. she lifted the cup to her mouth and took another drink.
Zachary wasn't sure what to talk about, finding his mind drifting back onto his crush. It didn't matter who he was with, he always managed to find himself thinking about this wonderful man. He needed to be held and showered in affection. He was pulled from his thoughts when she had him a question. "Very much so." He answered with a small smile on his face, taking another small bite. When asked if he came here often, he lifted his hand to rub the back of his neck. "As often as I have free time..." He answered with a chuckle, somewhat implying he didn't get much freetime.
"I've been here before, the walk isn't so bad." He answered with a small smile on her face. "I sometimes have an intern get it for me because I rarely catch a break from working at the hospital." He answered, finding great joy in talking about his work. He pulled out his phone to peek at it briefly before placing it back in his pocket. He lifted the drink to his lips to take another sip, unsure of what else to say. I miss you Desmond, you better be safe. Else I'll notice. It was strange to notice the phantom pain but as soon as he became aware, it was easier to figure out if his crush was in danger or not.

she smiled and nodded after hearing that he was enjoying the muffin. she laughed softly at his response. she had been ready to ask him what took up most of his time when he mentioned he worked at the hospital. she had forgotten that the hospital wasn't too far from the cafe. she figured most wouldn't come out with their white coats on. they would more than likely leave them at the hospital.
"so you're a doctor? general or do you have a specialization?"she asked curiously. most of the time she had thought about going into the medical field. considering she had a healing ability, but it stressed her out. she didn't think she was cut out to see all those injured people and all the blood. she wasn't the type to faint at the sight of blood, but just seeing too much of it didn't sit well with her.
Zachary nodded his head, swallowing his drink. "General." He liked helping everybody, regardless of their wounds, oh how it benefited to being an angel. In fact because he wanted to help everybody, he had almost joined TRS for the sake of helping whom he deemed as the correct side. He just couldn't wrap his head around being unable to help anybody from AP, even if they were dangerous in the first place. "I just enjoy helping others out, I didn't want to be limited just because I focused on only the one thing." He explained, taking another bite of his muffin. I wonder how Desmond would feel if I joined TRS.... I'd get to see him more often... though that would mean more work because I wouldn't be leaving the hospital. He thought to himself, chuckling at the idea of getting to see Desmond more during work. "Oh sorry... I got lost in thought." He answered, blushing slightly because he just admitted to somebody he had only just met that he had been day dreaming. "I guess I needed it though since when I'm working, I'm completely focused." He answered as he thought, I hope, else that would be completely bad.

elysia took another sip of her drink. it had cooled down enough that she could take longer sips without risk of burning her tongue. it was delicious, how long had it been since she had one of these. while he answered her questions elysia tore another piece of her croissant and proceeded to dip it in her cappuccino once more.
"that's nice. i understand, i think i would be hard to just work in one specific place. this way you're able to help in different areas."elysia nodded her head in agreement. after that it got rather quiet for a few minutes. elysia took this time to finish up her croissant. she was okay with silence and didn't find it necessary to always fill the void. it wasn't like it was an awkward silence.
she had found herself distracted as well. she usually was whenever she sat near the window. gazing out once the conversation had ceased. he had brought her back once he had apologized. she smiled and shook her head."it's alright. you probably came here to relax and im just asking questions."she told him before finishing the last of her cappuccino.
"well your line of work can be very difficult and stressful. so make sure you're getting plenty of rest mister."she told him with a nod.
Zachary nodded his head in agreement. During their silence he had lifted his cup to his lips, slowly drinking it until it had finished. As soon as it was finished he would put it down on the table before picking up the muffin to slowly eat it. Shortly after he had apologized for being distracted he told him that it was alright. "I don't know about relaxing but I did enjoy my drink." He answered honestly, unsure of how one would go about relaxing when he had so much work to do. Though walking down here to get his drink instead of having somebody pick it up has been a nice change of pace. He blushed when she made her comment about his line of work. "I think my friend would agree with you." He answered, laughing at the idea of Desmond telling him once more that he needed to relax instead of overworking himself. I should have texted him to see if he was able to join me.... but now I have to head back. He thought to himself with a sigh. "Keep your fingers crossed." He answered with a small smile on his face before slowly standing up from the table. "It was a pleasure speaking with you Elysia."

she was alright with silence. sometimes people just ran out of things to talk about and honestly she wasn't the type to fill the void with random chatter. elysia laughed softly at his words, about not relaxing."well, im glad you enjoyed your drink."she told him honestly, considering the amount of suggestion she had given him were not that great.
she smiled curiously at him, taking notice of the way his cheeks were flushed. maybe she was reading too much into it or maybe he liked this friend."well i would hope so. like i said doctors work very hard and long hours. so it's only right they get their rest so they can do their absolute best."she told him with a nod.
"i'll keep my fingers that friend of your will get you to relax once in a while."she told him with a smile as she noticed that he was getting ready to leave. glancing at the time she figured it was about time she started to pick up."yes, also please take care."she told him before starting to clear the dishes from the table.
