Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Turning to face Ariel, Roami frowned as if she was beginning to get quite livid. "I'll tell you a secret then, halfling," Roami began, closing her eyes. "In the hundreds of millions of years I've been around, I've met plenty of devils and demons alike from plenty of so called royal families. Half of them died because they were considered abominations. Either by some other third party or their own hand... but the other half that lived? They lived because they chose to embrace who they are, and eventually the everyone else accepted that."
Taking a deep breath, Roami smiled once more, small ounces of dark smoke leaving her mouth as she exhaled. "The woman I love is only half demon and isn't even on earth, but she smiles every day. Why can't you do the same for your queen?" Of course, Roami had to include that last bit. After all, usurped or not, she was still royalty... royalty that was usurped because of her controversial methods and troubled family agenda, but a proper royal nonetheless. Nothing changed to her, besides the absence of dinosaurs and men with pitch forks. "Be you, and if anyone has a problem with it, I'll turn them bloody red for you."
"Cat ears are cute," Roami replied back, waiting for her to catch up. "Especially hell cats. I always wanted a pet, but a friend is nice too!"
In truth, Roami was very accepting towards all kinds of hellspawns, from devils to imps. Her vendetta and hatred only extended to those who wronged or disrespected her in ways that burned her to her core... she had no problems with "defect" purebloods. What kind of royal rejected their subjects after all, evn if those subjects weren't subject to her royalty to begin with? "Everyone's different in their own way. It's what makes us unique."
Roami's smile faded from view at the words. A defective? A false demon, as in a hybrid, or worse someone who was just a wannabe? What did they mean by defective? Her skin, hair and dress began to flare up as she thought about what was just said before closing her eyes, remembering the times in Hell where she was declared a false royal, stripped and usurped... "Can I accompany you to to the cafe then? There's a drink there I like." She started walking towards where she pointed before, ensuring she didn't let her fire touch her guest as she passed.
Stopping and turning around to face her, she resumed smiling. "Defective or not, you're a demon and I'm your defective devil queen. If you decide you don't want to even be a demon anymore, I'll just be your smoke queen. Okay?"
Remaining dead silent, but still smiling, for a few long seconds, Roami snickered. "You're not a social demon are you? Is it because I introduced myself as 'Queen'?" The logical assumption that she was a demon was only customary for her, after all what would any other race be doing in a place like this, so close to something so demonic, so royal, so... her? The devil's heritage surfaced within Roami, a desire to subjugate someone so lesser, only to be quelled by her outgoing nature. "That's okay. I wasn't either a few thousand years ago," she said kindly.
Looking around, she noticed literally everything was open today, as it should be. Pointing towards the direction of the hot springs and cafe, she inquired. "Were you on your way there? A lot of people come here for that."
"Ariel? Nice to meet you!" Roami smiled. "I didn't hurt you did I?"
She quickly inspected the person in front of her, determining that if she was hurt, it wasn't because of her recent action. Instead it was probably something else. Whatever it was, Roami was happy to have someone to talk to after a day of almost nothing and no one interesting. "I was just relaxing on that building. I was so excited I didn't look to see where I was landing..." Roami put her hands behind her back neatly as her ocean-like eyes welcomed conversation. "I guess you can say it's a bad and well meant habit of mine."
Over the years, I have used the fire and smoke I command to portray myself in both royalty and fashion. My mood, desires, powers, I love to show it all in the way I dress. I think it's a great idea to describe some of my favorite fiery forms I have taken over the thousands of ages.
-Roami
Queen of Hell; War of Traitors Outfit
I remember a time during the War of Traitors where I was a very angry and cruel woman, peaceful but a lot more... heated! As a Queen. My eyes were red as the devil (me!) and my fire manipulating abilities unmatched by any other lowly demon. My skin... charred. From the feet up. I remember my toes were a little foggy, I didn't use much of my smoke power then. I should have...
The outfit I wore included a replica of my golden fire crown, the replica was made of red fire itself. The shoulder plate and half breast plate I wore was made of solid leather lined with flames. Around my naval, abdomen and back was a flurry, transparent only around the bottom. The top near my chest was of course more opaque, as if someone would be lucky or worthy enough to look at my bare breast. My golden brace was instead barred to my clothes instead of on my skin, it was very nice.
This War of Traitors dress was finished with my favorite style of long skirt, dropping down from a pelvis wrap made of the same material as my plates and braces, just with controlled fire.
The Dark Market Gifted Uniform
This one... isn't one of my own flame outfit creations. It was given to me by another royal as a gift, but of Heaven. Normally, I wouldn't dare, but this woman has helped me so much since my entrapment on Earth by the divine's pointless war... I had to accept. It was only the right thing to do... this woman's name is Dolores, a seer that could very well pass as a hell spawn, definitely crueler than me or anyone else I met so far.
This Dark Market Uniform as she called it was tailor made for me, designed after one of the outfits the other girls wear. Whatever cloth she had it made from is able to adapt to my natural fire. I can control the outfit and the amount of flames it produces, but it always keeps it's shape. It's weird but... I guess I can add it to my collection... the golden braces don't come off of course. That was something else the seer promised she could help with if her dreams came to past. The ONLY thing I really, really dislike about this get up is how easy it is for someone flying or above me to see me. The top isn't covered, it's just held in place by the sleeves and golden collar on my neck.
Now that I think about it... is this uniform a slave uniform? Am I an Enslaved Queen?!
The Roami Casual
Stylish, elegant, movement-friendly, hot, and of course suited for a queen such as myself, this is my favorite outfit I like creating. Made with leather and fire-inked heavy silk (with a small amount of blood), this attire comes in three parts.
The first part is the top, the portion that covers my chest. It wraps around all the way and keeps the goods in place, neat and covered! Sealed off with the golden brace. The second part is the large golden brace and the smaller braces around part of my waist diagonally and my four joints. I still can't remove the joint braces, but the large brace buckle I think is a nice touch leading into the final part! The final part is the long dress I am quite known for, made entirely of fire, blood and silk, controlled all by me. It's slit so my leg can be shown... movement is after all important.
I created this attire a time after I joined the Dark Market and began my vendetta. It is the new me, but for how long?
Queen of Smoke and Ash
I recently found out while playing with my smoke manipulation that I am able to create uniforms for myself just as I can with fire! But... unlike fire, it is very hard to control, and I'm not able to wear any other kind of clothing with it besides mixing the smoke with fire that comes from my body naturally. So I devised a solution.
When I'm completely nude, I can "heat" myself with smoke. Eventually the lower portion of me turns into smoke! You can see an outline of my body, but the smoke prevents anyone from seeing anything scandalous. It's perfect! I can wrap the smoke around a part of my arms as a half coat and use the leftover smoke to cover my chest from all angles... it's thick enough to do that.
I didn't notice before, but when I take this attire a crown of cloud appears over my head. The fire from my hair stays. I really like it. Maybe this is the new me... I was usurped before, and it now hurts to use my fire because of it, but as an ashen queen I use my skills freely, and it likes me back.
This time much farther away from the Dark Market than originally anticipated, Roami was given time to herself once more to self reflect on the choices that lead her to where she is now. She found herself standing on top of a building not too far from the gate to Hell, smiling down at the other rather demonic individuals beneath her. The height and false sense of authority over them brought a big smile to her face, a reminder of the throne she was unfairly usurped from. Getting to her feet, her skin, hair and clothes began to burn bright, blood mixed in as the devil jumped from the roof, landing on the ground below with a soft thud.
Smoke began to gather around her feet while she brushed herself off before realizing she landed right in front of someone. Quickly taking a few steps back, she laughed awkwardly. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to land right ontop of you like that." Preforming a curtsy with her dress of fire, she bowed. "My name is Queen Roami, and yours?"
Roami nodded nonchalantly. "Mhm, a usurped Queen of Hell and the Queen of Smoke and Ash. Nice to meet you." She gave her guest a small, polite curtsy, fire dancing around her feet as she did. Rising, she smiled. From first impressions this stranger she ran into seemed to be exactly the kind of company she was hoping for.
"Someone grew tired of my presence so I decided to take a walk," she said, not willing to give out too much information regarding the Market, "and yourself?"
"Roami, you're too bright, Roami, what kind of Devil are you, Roami, go meet with him, go meet with her..." The ignited woman paced the forest, livid while muttering to herself about the events that just took place. How dare that entitled Seer treat her so? She was, after all, a queen, no matter how usurped... but she did owe plenty to her, and so her frustrations weren't well placed nor directed.
Smoke trailed behind her as she made no effort to soothe the flames that emitted from her hair, body, and clothes. There was no need to, for all she knew there wasn't anyone else around besides herself, however she would be proven wrong when noticing someone walking towards her. "Hello," she called out, fixing her tone and her cut dress of fire. Maybe company was what she needed. The last thing she wanted was to scare people away. "I am Queen Roami."
Laughing lightly at Sinai's bright jokes, Roami sighed. "How thoughtful of you! But it looks like you were the one that needed to warm up." Roami gestured towards their attire before laughing again, both at what she just said and the curtsy imitation before abruptly stopping, remembering how they made her wait earlier, and suffice to say, she was still rather heated.
Blue eyes again surveyed Sinai as she nodded. "Thank you, I didn't know what was... appropriate to wear, so I just hurried in my usual." The devil queen smiled warmly, delighted to be complimented, even if it was something she was expecting, being spoiled and all. She then crossed her arms behind her back neatly, taking a mental note of how her newfound partner wasn't too cold savvy. Of course she had ideas on how to handle that, but she would refrain from voicing them until later on. She felt her anger fade the more she spoke with Sinai, something that should bode well for both parties so she thought. The last thing she wanted was to burn down the place.
Glancing up, she watched as the sky began to darken, her expression never fading. She was a queen, and so she was used to attention, but she didn't quite know about her date; Roami further decreased the intensity of her fire until it was akin to a rather large torch light. "Sure, I love conversation," she finally said after adjusting herself. "And I'll allow it! Come as close as you want," Roami cooed with a smirk, acting on her earlier mental note, "You said you were cold right? I won't burn you, promise."
With that, Roami offered her hand as she began to walk in the direction Sinai Karakedi gestured to, wondering where they'll end up next.
Roami stared passively as the stranger stood, telling her the drink was for their date; the devil could care less, why shouldn't she, a rightful queen, enjoy the luxuries in front of her? After all, she was looking for her date as well, and the cold weather didn't soothe things. Smiling, she also stood, intending to both apologize and make her stance on the matter known before turning her attention again to the nametag. She squinted her clear blue eyes before a sense of realization overtook her. Very barely containing her relief and happiness, she produced only a smirk as she replied to the concerned Sinai. "Oh really? This drink?" She said playfully, taking another, extra long sip from the beverage. "Good thing I'm your date then!"
The irritation she felt earlier for just a moment vanished, but returned with fierceness after she realized her date was very near all this time. "You know... I was waiting for you. What took so long, did something happen?"Roami asked, passive aggressively. While she was genuinely concerned about where Sinai was, she was still someone who wasn't usually kept waiting like that. Pouting, she placed the drink down on the bench she was sitting before, raising a brow. "Were you just gonna sit around here until I found you?" Now, the aggravation she was feeling was starting to show in her voice, no matter how much she tried to control it. With a wave of a hand, she she shook her head.
Taking a step back, the former devil queen curtsied in her attire of fire. "Anyway, it's nice to finally meet you... Sinai, right?"
Among the many that avoided her heated aura, there was one who didn't, and that someone, dressed in what Roami could only describe as an entanglement of jacket, caught her attention. While still rather irate, Roami watched as the stranger sat down not too far away from where she sat. As they placed down another drink and began to enjoy the first, Roami could only conclude one thing: this person was obviously giving her a hot beverage as an offering! Why else would someone approach her with such nonchalant mannerism bundled up in warmth?
Scooting closer to the stranger, and lowering her flame intensity to be considerate, she took the hot cider and began to drink at a steady pace. The heat of the drink meant little to nothing to her, she rather enjoyed it in fact, and it definitely eased her mood. Smiling, she turned fully toward the bundled stranger. "Thanks, I really needed this..." Roami said, still helping herself to the drink. Was it rude? Of course, but not to a devil such as herself. Noticing their upside down name tag, Roami assumed they also were waiting for their partner, or was left disappointed one way or another. Pointing to the abnormality, she sprouted a concerned look. "Hey, your nametag's upside down, if you didn't know." She said, plainly, taking another sip of the steaming drink, letting out a sigh of enjoyment filled smoke from her lips before taking another long sip.
The setting of the sun only meant Roami should enjoy herself while she can. There was only so much she could do, or was comfortable doing in cold weather without making the environment a lot brighter than it was now, and there was still the case of her missing blind date to attend to. Humming silently to herself, she began to wonder how she'd approach that situation when the criminally late person showed themselves.
It's been ages since the devil has been on any kind of eventful date, let alone a blind date event, and Roami was no exception, so dressing her best was simply mandatory. Seeing as how it was still rather cold out for some reason, Roami was aware that her flames wouldn't be potent, perfect for whoever she was to be matched with. Her goal was to enjoy herself after all, and not scare away everyone nor become a living fire hazard. As so, she was dressed in her usual attire, but this time with her midriff covered by fire, turning her long skirt into a long dress, mixed with leather and hot flames. She didn't want to be left exposed if it ended up raining. That would most certainly be the worst case scenario.
It didn't take her long to arrive to the location of the event, in fact, she left three days prior to it and bid her time around various shops and parks until the day it started. She was one of the first in line and one of the very fist to receive her nametag and the name of her pair with a warm smile. She, of course, burned her nametag to ashes and kept the name of the other in her hand with a firm grip. A horned devil walking around a skating rink covered in fire is fairly hard to miss, and so a nametag meant little to her. She was almost irritated at receiving it, who didn't know who she was?
Beginning to wander around, she maintained a slow walking speed to wait for Sinai Karakedi. Others around her were actively looking for the name they were given, but Roami was one to expect Sinai to come to her, she was just indulgent like that, and being royalty, it was all she knew. A few minutes passed, and Roami still was not approached, nor did she herself see anyone by the name of Sinai; her patience began to dwindle. What exactly was taking them so long to arrive? With the cold air beginning to get to her she increased the intensity of her flames by just a bit to remain warm and covered. Now beginning to burn a few leaves off a nearby potted plant, she sat down, waiting for her blind date with clear irritation in her eyes, the passerby's around her doing their best to avoid her. "They sure are taking their time..." Roami said, making smoke circles in the air with a finger.
In thought, the usurped queen wondered if she'd encountered any shops or stores that sold such things, coming to absolutely zero conclusions. The only "shop" she knew of that sold anything that resembled that was the Dark Market; seeing as how this lady never appeared near the group's base, she highly doubted that was the shop she was referring to. "I'm sorry, I haven't heard of any shop that sells things like that," she said, smiling softly. At the mention of guards, she kept her smile, not wanting too much of her anger or sorrow to show. She was correct of course, but everyone she knew back in Hell would either be dead or didn't remember her by now, guards and soldiers included...
"Yeah I should... you're right. I guess I never got around to recruiting anyone. Usually, most mortals I meet instantly protect me." Upon finishing her sentence, her smile nearly turned into a cocky smirk. Another correct statement, this time by her own words. From her experience, most if not all mortal humans and humanoids have this... instinct to protect those who seem youthful or innocent. Roami filled over half of the qualifications to apply to those instincts, and being royalty, expected to be spoiled and protected regardless.
Ignoring her simple joke, she watched as the woman, Rin, used some kind of magic to guide a card to her spot of rest, intrigued. Was Rin some sort of elemental or manipulator? No, that couldn't be. Roami would've known; elementals are such show offs, especially the fire ones she meets. When the card got close enough, a few inches away, Roami pressed her index and middle fingers together nail first, pinching her skin until a bit of blood was visible. Afterwards, she grabbed the card as lightly as she could, the piece of paper incinerating instantly as she did. "What's your shop called? I should really visit if there isn't any anti-demon or devil wards around," Roami said, kindly, as if she didn't just burn up the kind woman's business card. In truth, if she did keep the card, she'd have absolutely nowhere to put it. Besides, she was one to think that things were supposed to be given to her, in good faith or not. If she didn't ask for it, it was subject to getting burned. "And thanks for the... 'discount'" Fully expecting to just walk in and start taking things, she was a bit too happy to hear about having such a "discount".
Admiring her curtsy again with careful eyes, she stood up once again, the flames around her being reflected in her bight blue eyes. It was an average bow, lacking feeling behind it. Compared to hers, it was average, and while it was better than nothing, she decided to at least offer assistance. "Oh. Nice bow, by the way, but it needs a little bit of work, maybe I can help you out if you have a moment, or maybe when we meet again I can show you then! Do you live around here?" If she didn't leave with at least someone she could call a friend or ally, Roami would at least leave the field knowing a lot more about Rin... just in case she needed it. She was apart of an intelligence organization after all.
She didn't expect anyone to be wandering around the battlefield of old, and was surprised to see a human woman, she thought, making herself visible and speaking with a voice that was absent of fear. Standing to properly introduce herself, Roami sprouted a friendly smile. "No... I'm just walking around. My name is Queen Roami." True to her rather spoiled and entitled nature, she gave a small curtsy and ensured she spoke her name with pride, only hints of sorrow present in her tone. She was, after all, a ruler with no one to rule. "You're not interrupting at all," she said, happy to have at least someone else to talk to in the broken field, "I was just reminiscing about the past. It's nice to see someone else out here."
Roami then inspected her visitor: her clothing appeared almost as dated as her own. They weren't ill-kept at all, the traditional pride of elegancy all over them, however a part of their eye was being covered by their hair. The sight briefly reminded Roami of her boss back in the wilderness and she immediately wondered what secrets she was hiding. She also possessed some sort of fabric, a toy or doll perhaps, that hung over their arm. A strange sight indeed, but not as strange as meeting someone like her, a devil in a battlefield with clothes made of fire.
"So what brings you here? This isn't really a place humans go to hang out with friends, right?" she inquired, sitting back down, her hands placed neatly on top of another in her lap. She ensured that she didn't give out too much heat- she didn't want to frighten, hurt or burn her new talking partner. "Or were you looking for me specifically...?" She of course knew that was a possibility, as she usually makes deals with people in this area... or fight off those that tries to harm her. Either way, she was prepared for mostly any answer as her blue ocean eyes gazed up at the woman in front of her.
