Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The ground began to shake and heat up as one pair of small feet turned the soil a dark red. A sigh escaped her lips as she eyed her surroundings. Roami remembered this place, more specifically, she remembered the amount of corpses and wounded beings that were scattered around, soon to be either removed or rejuvenated after the war. Now, it was just a scar on the earth, painful reminders for those that were alive back then, and for people like Roami, simply a sorry sight, and nothing more.
She began to walk further into the field, allowing herself to leave behind footprints of ash wherever she tread until she reached what she considered the center, and sat down. Today was an uneventful day of searching, and it left her feet sore from all the walking. She could use hexes to get around, but ultimately it wasn't worth the hassle if she didn't even know where her target was. She sighed, light smoke escaping her mouth as she did so. This certainly wasn't the life for her. Maybe she should seek out some deals, and have a little bit of fun? Or simply hone her abilities?
Then, during her endless thought train, she heard the footsteps of someone approaching. Turning, she began to wonder who would visit a past battlefield at a time of day like this. "Hello," she began, curious as to who would approach the small girl on fire.
Much like her parents used to do when they were alive, Rin too had to travel across the outisde of city safety to reach a select few clients who needed wards set up. As it hadn't been a huge distance that had to been crossed for today's travel the young woman hadn't seen the need to get a ride over there and decided to brazenly walk the entire way there and back to the city. Confidence wasn't a thing she lacked and the trust in her magical abilities was great enough to give her the reassurance to stay unharmed throughout her travels. Afterall she was different from her parents, instead of focusing all her time on her craft, she had put a big focus on her tome and resulting fighting capabilities. One could in the end only trust oneself after all. Living alone kind of required that aswell.
It wasn't too far from the city when her attention was grabbed by the smell of something charred and traces of still sizzling ember could be seen a short distance away. She didn't flinch for a second as curiosity got the better of her and she had to investigate. Maybe it was only some elemental doing a sort of practice or somebody possibly needed help. The witch remained completely calm and with firm, even foot steps walked out from behind a bush with a smile on her face as she spotted a seemingly young girl - or was she a woman already? They might've been the same age actually but regardless, Rin played the situation casually. "Oh my", she said, speaking in a rather soothing, melodious voice, "I was wondering what was going on over here, worried that a fight had broken out I had to inspect. I hope I'm not intruding on something important."
Wearing some sort of traditional eastern style of clothing that looked to be handmade and adorned with a big ruby looking gem she was quite the well-off - be it somewhat eccentric - looking person that one would usually not find walking around the wilderness. The only thing that might've looked out of place was the stuffed doll that was casually hanging over one arm. To Rin the doll was like a backpack, with a zipper on its back that remained will hidden from sight. Inwardly she'd already began to doubt that she'd met an elemental, though the cute horn on her head left quite a few options on the table.
She didn't expect anyone to be wandering around the battlefield of old, and was surprised to see a human woman, she thought, making herself visible and speaking with a voice that was absent of fear. Standing to properly introduce herself, Roami sprouted a friendly smile. "No... I'm just walking around. My name is Queen Roami." True to her rather spoiled and entitled nature, she gave a small curtsy and ensured she spoke her name with pride, only hints of sorrow present in her tone. She was, after all, a ruler with no one to rule. "You're not interrupting at all," she said, happy to have at least someone else to talk to in the broken field, "I was just reminiscing about the past. It's nice to see someone else out here."
Roami then inspected her visitor: her clothing appeared almost as dated as her own. They weren't ill-kept at all, the traditional pride of elegancy all over them, however a part of their eye was being covered by their hair. The sight briefly reminded Roami of her boss back in the wilderness and she immediately wondered what secrets she was hiding. She also possessed some sort of fabric, a toy or doll perhaps, that hung over their arm. A strange sight indeed, but not as strange as meeting someone like her, a devil in a battlefield with clothes made of fire.
"So what brings you here? This isn't really a place humans go to hang out with friends, right?" she inquired, sitting back down, her hands placed neatly on top of another in her lap. She ensured that she didn't give out too much heat- she didn't want to frighten, hurt or burn her new talking partner. "Or were you looking for me specifically...?" She of course knew that was a possibility, as she usually makes deals with people in this area... or fight off those that tries to harm her. Either way, she was prepared for mostly any answer as her blue ocean eyes gazed up at the woman in front of her.
While the the little matchstick introduced herself as a sort of Queen, though anyone could claim to be one. Her appearance and demeanor didn't speak of the royalty one might know from tales of forgone times, but any royal family that lived in this plane was inevitably going to have to adapt to the times. Regardless if true or false, Rin would accept the fact that she saw herself as a queen for now and play along. She simply noded and gave a small curtsie in return. "My name is Rin Watanabe, I am only a mere merchant for magical charms, wards and other materials. If you're from around these parts you might've heard of our shop..." She said but quickly swapped the topic back to Roami herself. "You don't look weak yourself, but shouldn't a queen keep atleast some guards around?" She probed about to see if she was already going to be lied to. Her head cocked sideways the slightest bit and she pretended to be inspecting the girl again. Her voice still calm and in a bit of a sing sang peaked up again, "Alas, I wouldn't pretend to be looking for what I presume to be a demon or devil alone on a desolated old battleground." Her expression shifted as did her tone with it to indicate that she wasn't assuming that Roami was a bad person, just the target of a slight joke. "But I also have to admit that I don't have a lot of contact with customers from hell, a lot of you prefer to stay to their own methods I found...", she closed and pulled a business card out of one of her wide sleeves. She held the card out from between her fingers as if expecting the girl to take it, who at this time was standing several meters away from her. In the next moment the business card flew over to Rin's new 'friend' as if the wind was guiding it. The truth was that hidden under the long sleeve over her left arm a thick magic tome lay hidden, stripped to her arms with leather belts. Rin gave a curtsie again and added on, "Please take it, I'm on my way back from a job just now so I can't offer much of value to a potential customer, but I'm in a good mood and will give you a discount next time~" Clearly the business woman she didn't waste a minute to put this 'queen' on the spot, hoping to get more information out of her. Of course she didn't plan anything shady, but she had lofty ambitions so hopefully roping someone in as a costumer was as good as she could hope for. Although she said she had nothing to be sold, Rin herself was wearing quite the few charms and wards on her body Terrors could be lurking anywhere after all.
In thought, the usurped queen wondered if she'd encountered any shops or stores that sold such things, coming to absolutely zero conclusions. The only "shop" she knew of that sold anything that resembled that was the Dark Market; seeing as how this lady never appeared near the group's base, she highly doubted that was the shop she was referring to. "I'm sorry, I haven't heard of any shop that sells things like that," she said, smiling softly. At the mention of guards, she kept her smile, not wanting too much of her anger or sorrow to show. She was correct of course, but everyone she knew back in Hell would either be dead or didn't remember her by now, guards and soldiers included...
"Yeah I should... you're right. I guess I never got around to recruiting anyone. Usually, most mortals I meet instantly protect me." Upon finishing her sentence, her smile nearly turned into a cocky smirk. Another correct statement, this time by her own words. From her experience, most if not all mortal humans and humanoids have this... instinct to protect those who seem youthful or innocent. Roami filled over half of the qualifications to apply to those instincts, and being royalty, expected to be spoiled and protected regardless.
Ignoring her simple joke, she watched as the woman, Rin, used some kind of magic to guide a card to her spot of rest, intrigued. Was Rin some sort of elemental or manipulator? No, that couldn't be. Roami would've known; elementals are such show offs, especially the fire ones she meets. When the card got close enough, a few inches away, Roami pressed her index and middle fingers together nail first, pinching her skin until a bit of blood was visible. Afterwards, she grabbed the card as lightly as she could, the piece of paper incinerating instantly as she did. "What's your shop called? I should really visit if there isn't any anti-demon or devil wards around," Roami said, kindly, as if she didn't just burn up the kind woman's business card. In truth, if she did keep the card, she'd have absolutely nowhere to put it. Besides, she was one to think that things were supposed to be given to her, in good faith or not. If she didn't ask for it, it was subject to getting burned. "And thanks for the... 'discount'" Fully expecting to just walk in and start taking things, she was a bit too happy to hear about having such a "discount".
Admiring her curtsy again with careful eyes, she stood up once again, the flames around her being reflected in her bight blue eyes. It was an average bow, lacking feeling behind it. Compared to hers, it was average, and while it was better than nothing, she decided to at least offer assistance. "Oh. Nice bow, by the way, but it needs a little bit of work, maybe I can help you out if you have a moment, or maybe when we meet again I can show you then! Do you live around here?" If she didn't leave with at least someone she could call a friend or ally, Roami would at least leave the field knowing a lot more about Rin... just in case she needed it. She was apart of an intelligence organization after all.
