Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Maybe this friendship would last multiple lifetimes... if Leo was immortal or at the very least didn't age. Roami was sure that even if they weren't, they had some sort of tech on their hands that could make it so. If she learned anything today, it was that machinery was as versatile as flames itself. She also learned that she had a new affinity for instantly appearing devil butlers. Smiling, she nodded her head. "You don't have to assume, you'll do great."
Sitting still as Leo's magic table took in the hand drawn/burnt map she carved, she was surprised to see that it was fairly accurate after all. Of course it was, she expected nothing less of course. Ninty-three percent was still passing, and well above average as well. After admiring her handiwork, or rather the space image of the market's headquarters, she returned her attention back to her new friend. They were right... the dark market was a bit less tech-y than the white space the duo were in, and even with the technology that was there, Roami knew it paled in comparison to Leo's stuff. "That's a good point... well, I can visit you when I'm not traveling, how's that sound?" Again, the fire demon played with the USB drive as Leo spoke words of caution. She highly doubted Dolores actually wanted the information on here, and only wanted Leo's loyalty, but just in case, she'd heed Leo's words. "Of course," she said, returning their warm smile in kind.
A light popped on in Roami's head upon hearing a new name. "So Kormir is his name? Very nice..." She really had to get herself a new servant, or maybe multiple servants, at some point after her vendetta against the world was finished. Or perhaps before. Without even turning to face Kormir, she stood up, fire lightly flickering around her as if dancing to a heated song. If it rained today, she was screwed. "Queen Roami," she replied coolly, beginning to walk back to the ajar door, again waving off the servant. Godlord Leo... Godlord? Roami mouthed the word 'oh', surprised that they'd give themselves such a high honorific. Was a godlord higher than a queen? She decided against asking, instead preparing herself to leave. "Leo, if I could, I'd hug you goodbye, but... you know. Maybe next time." Paying respects to the godlord, Roami turned and gave a very small bow. "Have fun with the money!" Roami sure knew she would enjoy watching the market's balance drop and her own remain untouched.
The devil queen gave herself a moment to think about what Leo just said. Money did buy close friends, but were they really someone's friend, or just a friend to money? Shrugging to her own thought, she nodded in agreement. "I treat my friends well too," she said, "and I'm sure the Madame does too." Now those words were somewhat blatant lies. While Roami enjoyed her friends, she knew how Dolores could be, but as long as Leo kept her word, there shouldn't be any major issues...
Roami watched as Leo stood, machinery of some sort rising in front of them. More tech, something Roami wasn't too adept in, mostly because technology wasn't made devil-proof. Well, Roami-proof, as usually, devils don't make their clothes out of fire. She closely watched the machine with curious eyes, wondering how it was put together, and if it was all Leo's doing, until at last a hologram appeared and stabilized. She was tempted to poke it, but resisted the temptation. She could really use holograms in her room, it would be a great distraction.
She continued watching, blue eyes darting from one image to another in amazement. A database? Of multiple individuals and companies? Without a doubt, what she was seeing was very impressive, more so than the dual libraries Dolores owned, only because in the base, the information was on paper mostly, but here? It was all digital. This was perfect for the devil though, now she had potentially two ways of getting information for her own use, not the dark market's. Roami pointed to the CEO with moderate interest. "I know him, he's a stingy one," she said, simply. The image changed to the said man hard at work in his office. Leo wasn't lying when they said they weren't concerned with right and wrongs. She again nodded at Leo's assessment, intending to relay the information onto the Madame, who was more akin to stocks.
Afterwards, Roami stood up suddenly as the tech around her hummed, showing her both less images and words than before as well as a not too in focus image of her- it was unmistakable, her red and yellow hair is noticeable from anywhere. So Leo had been watching her, or was she spying on her the moment she entered the mall? She calmed down, sitting in her chair, as she reminded herself that she was in no danger. She was just very unused to the various hidden things the white room can do. She was indeed a queen still, she was just currently without a place to rule, something she occasionally forgot.
A window made out of... something that passed Roami's thought slid down the table with ease. Roami, hands now placed neatly in her lap again, read it. It would seem like Roami's succeeded in gaining Leo's trust, or at least their friendship. Using her right hand to press the confirm button, she smiled. "May this friendship last a lifetime," she said, happily. She knew back at the base, the Madade would be less than thrilled to see the organization's balance drop so steeply, and only wished she was there to see her face. Would it have changed from her usual sadistic façade? "Well, that's that! I'll tell the Madame you're an ally, and let you know if anything else needs to be done. Oh, before I forget," Roami began to use the table as paper, taking care not to mess with the tech in front of her. She bit her tongue and used her finger to draw a map on the table, fire following wherever her nail dragged onto.
When she was finished, a detailed, or as detailed as she could get, map was burned onto the surface. "Home base is here. It's in the woods, When you find a clearing, that's us. There's a cabin there that acts as a cover, the real stuff is underground. Maybe you can stop by to say hi?" Truthfully, Roami would enjoy being around someone that wasn't scared humans or crazy seers. She was social like that.
At first, Roami tensed up. If she went back to Dolores with a "no" as an answer, she would undoubtedly go on a killing spree, or something else similarly macabre. Thinking about just leading Leo to the hideout anyway, she eased back up as they stated that they would be open to working with the market anyway. Personally, Roami also didn't mind too much about the morality of plenty of things. The friends she used to have even went as far as saying that she was entirely immoral, which is something she didn't agree with... completely.
"Oh, well that's both good and bad news, mostly good!" she said, smiling and meeting the young teen's gaze. Their eyes were as bright as hers, Roami thought, wondering how someone like them ended up in a situation like this. "I'm sure the Madame would be happy to hear that, I know I am. It really makes my job a lot easier. You're nice, young, cute, and have a lot ahead of you, it'd be horrible if you died." After finishing that sentence, she suddenly remembered why her friends called her immoral.
Shifting the USB drive between her heated fingers, she watched as they dismissed the servant earlier present. "You know, he really reminded me of home... are you royalty? She just had to ask, she enjoyed being slightly spoiled by the devil butler. "I used to be." After Leo asked if she wanted any refreshments, she instantly shook her head. "No thanks, I already ate, and anything with water in it doesn't... mix well with a, um, you know. Fire devil." She started to lightly laugh for a bit, further relaxing in the white expanse. "So! What kind of friendship are you wanting to establish, and how much are you asking for?"
Pausing a moment with a finger on her lips in thought, she began to run down numbers. If the Madame was willing to pay that absurd amount of money to secure a teenager in her ranks, Roami would do the same plus more... just to screw with her boss. Besides, she was royalty, if Dolores didn't pay the amount she would. "How about... hmm... ten million?" She held back in a laugh as she stated the amount. Dolores was going to lose it.
It would seem that this young teenager was indeed the person she was supposed to be meeting, only managing to surprise Roami even more. Upon hearing that they didn't know what the Dark Market was, she sighed. Of course her sadistic boss didn't tell them who was "buying" from them. It only served to make her job all the more harder, especially if who was in front of her wasn't as nice and polite as they seemed.
Leo, it was a simple name, and Roami was sure it was short for something. Regardless, she nodded her head in approval. It was a nice name or nickname. Roami heard the entrance behind her close, but didn't look back to observe. There was no need to, she was confident like that. Maybe too confident. Her attention was directed to the piece of tech on the table. That must be what Leo thought she was here for. She couldn't help but let out a chuckle. She had to hand it to the Madame, she knew how to trick people, but at the same time, she felt irritated that her boss was tricking a teenager like this.
Afterwards, she witnessed as a seemingly devil-like butler appeared from the nothingness that was the space they were in. A servant, without a doubt, something that instantly reminded her of her palace life in Hell. Slowly, she was beginning to like Leo's style. Roami, turning towards the sharply black dressed individual, dismissed his bow with a small motion of her hand by habit, something she did while she was still reigning queen. It was only customary. The man spoke in a polite mannerism, and when he was finished, a chair appeared after brief moments of light changing the likeness of the chair. Impressive... wherever she was, Leo seemed to have complete dominion over this space.
Roami watched as Leo took their seat, and she did the same, pulling herself closer to the table. Her posture was elegant and royal in nature, with both hands in her lap, her back straight, eyes straight forward, and a small polite smile on her face. "Well, it's good that you're the right person," she began, "I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm really here for another reason, but first I should explain what the dark market is." Her smile faded as she started to briefly run down what the organization was. "It's an organization lead by the Madame, Dolores, that specializes in gathering info, selling things, and making deals." She stopped there, believing that was enough she had to reveal about what they were.
Shuffling in her seat, she took a small breath and blew, thick black smoke emerging from her parted lips. The smoke, small in size, made its way over to the other end of the table towards the USB device if it was able to do so. If successful, it would envelop the entire thing, and begin to move it back towards Roami slowly. "This isn't what I came here for... I'm actually on a recruitment mission," she confessed. Her ocean eyes still locked onto Leo, she waited in silence to see if they would put two and two together.
Roami stretched, sighing as she went over her task a fifth time. The Madame wanted her to go out into the downtown area to meet up with someone who has a very particular set of skills, skills that could be useful to the dark market; a recruitment mission essentially, and she wasn't to return until she came to come sort of agreement with them. Roami didn't know who she was meeting up with, nor their name, however she did know the exact location of their meeting. She only hoped there weren't fire alarms nearby. Taking a mental note that the meeting is disguised as a simple request from the organization, she almost tore through the paper when she saw exactly how much they paid to set the meeting up, and what exactly was requested. Dolores is too much, she thought to herself. Being royalty herself, even she thought the amount was too high.
Memorizing the details a sixth time, the devil burned the paper and anything else that had the name "dark market" on it before she set off, Roami began to venture Downtown to her destination: Halo Crown Mall. At this time of day, there was bound to be plenty of people around, and she highly doubted any of them would appreciate being burned alive; her clothes were made of fire, after all. Making sure to keep the flames to an absolute minimum, she managed to make it look like she was a normal shopper from a distance, the illusion quickly breaking the closer you inspected her.
Looking around for the specific shop she was told to wait inside, Roami steered clear of the water fountain present before spotting the location in a rather off placed section of the mall. It looked like an old restaurant at first glance, nowhere near as high pitched as the one she used to visit in Hell, but Roami didn't really care what became or will become of the earthly establishment. She only wanted to complete the task given to her by the Madame, both for her sake and for Dolores'.
After a few steps, she reached the entrance. 'Open Soon'. Roami tilted her head at the sign, visibly confused at the wording, but ignored it and continued inside without as much as a knock. She very quickly discovered she didn't need to knock, as there was absolutely nothing inside besides a lone door on an empty wall. From where she was standing, the door looked open. An interesting place to meet up, but it seemed discreet enough... and if it was a trap, she was of course prepared. Who could best her in combat anyway? She walked up to the door, each one of her bare-footed steps making a small mark on the floor, opening it and walking inside.
What greeted her was a young looking person, couldn't be any older than eighteen, standing, waiting... for her? Roami's bright blue eyes quickly adjusted to their new surroundings, the flames covering her body resuming their hot dance around her body. Where was she, a different dimension? ...heaven? God, Roami hoped not. Either way, without a doubt this was the person she was looking for. She'd come across young brokers and recruits before, and was interested in seeing how this one fared. Sprouting a smile, she greeted the stranger. "Hey! My name's Roami. I'm with the Dark Market." A very straightforward greeting, but if this wasn't the person she was looking for, she'd just kill them. Simple.
"I think you have something for me?" she asked, waiting for confirmation before revealing her true intentions.
Roami pushed a rather large leaf from her face, the piece of flora burning up upon contact with her hand. It was a rather cold afternoon, and only one thing was on her mind: revenge. She was still plagued by what she had learned, and her heart ached because of it. The former devil queen couldn’t phantom why any being, hell originated or not, would do such a thing to someone else’s child.
She recalled the painful moment when she found out about her daughter’s death, and the agony that followed. She doesn’t remember much, but she did remember burning down everything within sight. Deeply sighing, she pushed the memories back within her mind, and pressed forward. The only thing that mattered right now was honoring the memory of the fallen through blood.
Jumping over a lone puddle, she inhaled, blowing out a long stream of fire that turned everything in front of her to ash, allowing her to pass through the dense wilderness without the annoyance of large leaves. She had heard rumors of a group that was adept in figuring everything out about someone or something, and hoped this group could help her locate the ones that were responsible for the heinous act… or at the very least, their descendants. It didn’t matter to her. In her eyes, they shouldn’t even exist. They should have perished when she came back home. The last town she visited gave her a tip that the group could be found deep in the forest this afternoon.
A shadow loomed over her, the clouds above hiding the sun behind blankets of white, but this did nothing to quench the light that came from Roami. Today, she wore nothing at all, her likeness being covered by makeshift fire that circled around her like a dress. This was done on purpose, as she also heard rumors that the group she was pursuing was not lead by a friendly presence. She secretly hoped this leading presence was of royal descent, but if not, she was ready for a fight. Seconds turned into hours as her feet trveled the scorched path she made through the forest, her determination only growing. Each step brought her some level of pain, but she kept on. She at least had to make it to the area before the weather changed its mood.
Nearing the end of the cleared path, she was about to produce another before she felt a strong force pull her in one direction. Holding onto a nearby trunk, she blasted orange tinted fire from the soles of her feet, the flames aimed at whatever was pulling her around. To her surprise, she watched as the balls of fire were seemingly deflected, the spheres of heat being lost to the dense wilderness that surrounded her. Her feet began to bleed as she continued blasting fire, only for the flames to meet the same fate as the last. What, or who, was doing this?
Still pulling against the force that was attempting to drag her away, she again took in a deep breath, this time letting out a thick cloud of smoke around her. As she did, the force subsided. Noting that whatever that was doing this can’t do so if they can’t see her, she landed on the now smoke covered ground with a light thud. This time, she would be on the offensive. She commanded the smoke to expand as far as she could. Whoever was in the forest with her would have an extreme amount of difficulty seeing. Biting her tongue until blood was produced, she used the blood to mix with the smoke, igniting the vision-hindering smoke. Quickly, anything that touched the smoke was severely burned, leaving Roami unharmed and hidden, not bothered by the sudden change in temperature.
This was a technique she learned from a demon that used to call her a friend. It was a way for fire manipulators to both attack and defend themselves by hiding in the ash created by the mixture of smoke and fire… a technique that is extremely dangerous in confined areas, but could be used outside as well. Satisfied that she possibly took out her attacker, she let the smoke disperse, revealing the scorched trees and grass for yards on end. There was no possible way anything could have escaped unharmed. As she finished that thought, however, a figure emerged, walking through the embers around them. It was the figure of a very tall woman dressed in clothing that didn’t belong to this modern times, but what surprised Roami the most, was that this lady had not a single piece of ash or fire on her…
“Why hello there,” the woman said, smiling with a look that could only be matched by a jackal. “It seems like I have found the culprit behind all of this destruction.” Her speech was carefully put together, Roami noticed, and had no hint of hesitation. She watched as the woman, with hands crossed, inspected her, licking her lips in the process. Taking a few steps back, Roami prepared herself. Without a doubt in her mind, this was the individual that was pulling her earlier, and she was no push over… but neither was the devil queen. She gave no response to the woman's statement, instead leading with a question of her own.
“Who are you?” Roami asked, standing her ground as the tall woman walked closer. Their surroundings seemed to heat up in the duo’s presence as they spoke, something the devil took note of. She was no push over and she was fairly skilled in her own abilities. “Madame Dolores Esmeree,” the woman replied, reaching for something behind her back. As she did this, Roami clapped her hands together and pulled them apart slowly, creating a whip of fire as blood dipped from her palms. “Oh my,” said Dolores, “What on heaven and earth and are planning to do with that?”
Wasn’t it obvious, Roami thought to herself. Reeling the fire whip back, it cracked and sizzled on the ground before she yanked it forward towards Dolores, only for the well dressed woman to side step out of the way with an even more sinister smile than the last. Stunned, Roami tried again to the same result. Dolores wagged her finger as Roami continued on, facing utter failure every single time, even when she tried to predict where Dolores would side step.
“How are you doing that?!” Roami yelled. Never before had she seen someone dodge her attacks so effortlessly, somehow avoid getting hit by an un-blockable technique, and pull her with such force as this woman did before. She was unfamiliar with only a few races of the world, and clearly, Dolores Esmeree belonged to one of the few. “How do you keep…” Before she could finish her sentence, Dolores revealed what was behind her back: a very long rifle of some sort… Roami, eyes now wide with concern, still stood her ground. A mere gun wouldn’t deter her from her goal. She began to heat her body up, preparing to make another smoke screen, before Dolores produced another fire arm in her other hand, both pointed at her. One gun was something she could deal with, but two in the hands of someone that could pull people with her mind? She may be in a bit of trouble.
With nothing but charred, open space around them, there was no hiding, and running was out of the question; Roami doubted her ability to make a smoke screen in time before the bullets hit her. Instead, she resorted to burning the woman as she fired the weapons, her hands turning a bright red color in preparation for this. Dolores and Roami stood, both ready to unleash their attacks on one another under the relentless sun, who re-emerged from the blanket of clouds. Dolores stared at the devil with a hunger in her eyes; Roami could tell she wanted blood to be spilled, or at the least a life taken. There was only two ways this could end, and Roami was determined to be the one who walked away breathing.
The ground began to shake and heat up as one pair of small feet turned the soil a dark red. A sigh escaped her lips as she eyed her surroundings. Roami remembered this place, more specifically, she remembered the amount of corpses and wounded beings that were scattered around, soon to be either removed or rejuvenated after the war. Now, it was just a scar on the earth, painful reminders for those that were alive back then, and for people like Roami, simply a sorry sight, and nothing more.
She began to walk further into the field, allowing herself to leave behind footprints of ash wherever she tread until she reached what she considered the center, and sat down. Today was an uneventful day of searching, and it left her feet sore from all the walking. She could use hexes to get around, but ultimately it wasn't worth the hassle if she didn't even know where her target was. She sighed, light smoke escaping her mouth as she did so. This certainly wasn't the life for her. Maybe she should seek out some deals, and have a little bit of fun? Or simply hone her abilities?
Then, during her endless thought train, she heard the footsteps of someone approaching. Turning, she began to wonder who would visit a past battlefield at a time of day like this. "Hello," she began, curious as to who would approach the small girl on fire.
From her dual-colored hair to her bare soles, Roami is very hard not to notice as she doesn’t attempt to hide her appearance often, if ever. On the top of her head rests her yellow-tipped red hair, ending in strands at her shoulders. Poking out of the strands resides her curved horn, segmented in three parts. In her casual attire, she wears a wrap made of unnaturally heavy leather that covers her chest, red in color. With her midriff exposed, a long slit dress the same color as her hair covers the rest of her lower body, leaving her left leg and feet exposed. At the top of the dress, a heavy gold brace decorates it. On her ankles, wrists, and upper arm, more gold braces litter her skin, permanently melted to her hot skin, a long banner-like strand of yellowish ribbon dangling from the arm braces.
Roami's "clothes" are usually made by her, and while her casual/usual attire is somewhat normal-looking, any other pieces of clothing she decides to wear, she creates from fire, making water + roami = bad.
Roami has superior speed to most beings and is able to increase her speed to be exactly six miles per hour faster than the fastest person or thing within a six-foot radius of her.
While this makes her selectively insanely fast, or absurdly slow, she has no clue how to use her enchanted speed too effectively due to the braces melted onto her ankles, as it makes her both heavier and unbalanced. If Roami exerts herself for more than six minutes or runs faster than her body can handle, she risks spraining or breaking her ankles and feet.
[Fire Manipulation] (Master)
Roami is able to create and manipulate fire around and on her person. Being a devil assassin and queen, the ability to control fire came easily to her, and at the mere age of 20, she was teaching other demons how to better do it as well, becoming a pyrokinesis master. While mostly using her ability to create clothing of thick flames for herself, she is best known for copying other’s abilities with fire as the medium, such as when she saw a demon create a shield of darkness, then doing the same, but out of flames. The size of her flames and abilities are massive... However, like any power, has its weaknesses.
Roami can only use her fire manipulation if she uses the blood in her own body to do it, and must kill others to quickly replenish it, else risk lethal injuries. When put into a coma due to mass blood loss, she can only be healed by another devil.
[Smoke Manipulation] (Advanced)
Similar to her pyrokinesis, Roami is very skilled at typhokinesis and is able to create and manipulate smoke around her and on her person. Considering it an extension of fire manipulation, due to fire creating smoke, she studied the art of smoke manipulation just as much as she did fire. Since she didn’t know any other demon with the ability, she considered herself one of, if not the first, to learn it. Roami uses her fire manipulation for offensive tasks, and smoke for defensive tasks to make up for her failure in possession, often allowing her body to heat up to produce a smokescreen, hiding in smoke and ash, or simply dispelling other bodies of smoke with absolute ease.
Continuous use of this ability will drain Roami’s energy, and after six minutes, Roami will pass out completely for at least 24 hours.
[Possession] (Novice)
To put it very bluntly, Roami is absolutely terrible at possession, far worse than a beginner. She’s unable to even enter the target’s mind/soul. Every time Roami attempts to possess another, whatever they have on catches fire instead or gets blasted with light smoke. The amount of fire or smoke depends entirely on their willpower, and it always causes her a severe migraine afterward.
[Hexes] (Master)
Roami is able to cast large and complex hexes with absolute ease, usually using her mastery over the element of fire to create hex circles by first etching out the template of what it looks like (grooves of flame) then filling it in with blood.
Similar to her other manipulation abilities, Roami is knowledgeable in hexes and can use them to great means, her specialty being the hex of summoning. The only hex Roami seldom ever uses is the hex of healing, mostly due to her believing she’s above being healed in combat.
backstory
It was a rather hot evening in the small town that hosted a plaza of old books when a cloaked figure walked into the large room, the cloth on their back stinking of burning sulfur and ash. Calmly sitting down in front of the room’s tender, they gently picked up the nearest book, it’s bindings black as night, and opened it. Pointing with a precise finger, they began to speak in a voice most questionable to the owner of the library.
“Librarian… who is this person?” They asked.
“You don’t know of her?” The Librarian responded back, taking a seat in front of the stranger with a gleeful smile. Shaking their hooded head, the man chuckled. “If you have the time, I will tell you all I know.”
“Yes please.” And so, the story began, as the old bookkeeper stroked his beard and began the tale.
“None know of her birth, however, all know that Roami Bonpyre is a Demon, no, Devil, from very, very deep into one of the dimensional sectors of Hell, more specifically a red prince’s domain who served as one of the God of Hell’s general. She was raised from a very prestigious family with the crest of a golden sphere, a family that refused to advance higher her into the pit’s hierarchy, casting her out for not bearing a male heir. The devil Roami ended up on the streets that day, and life only got harder. She was all alone.”
“How did she get by?
“She preyed upon other demonic figures around her, grasping on their feeble mental by promising lives of luxury the moment they overthrew her family, the kin that cast her out. Eventually, she found out their sins and secrets and used them to further boost her authority amongst the populous. With this power, however, she did no ill towards her blood family immediately, instead, she focused her efforts on helping those she promised the world to, and one day, on the day the War of Traitors started, they all vanished.”
“Where did she go?”
“They never left the dimensional plane of Hell, only switched their location inside of it. Those that have not been to Volos’ Hell do not know of its size and ill glory, they only know of the “tormentors” they refer to as vile and evil. Roami however, knew that there was a pace deep in Hell she would be safe from both the War and those who despised her. Those that followed her to this place stayed with her, unjudging of her actions and loyal to the end. Biding her time, Roami remained for two hundred years.”
“That’s a day before Thanatos and Enki decided to seal Lord Volos and Lady Akari.”
“Yes, it is, and Roami knew this as well. Returning from her hiding, her people caused mayhem in Hell while she swiftly usurped the family that raised her and all that associated with them amongst the chaos. As the blood and dust settled, all that was left was smoke of ash and cinders. Slowly rumors spread that a terrible force of nature came up from lower Hell and obliterated the upper and middle class. It was on this day, she learned that the Gods Volos and Akari were to be sealed away tomorrow, and Roami was the one to ensure the red prince general was taken out by making it blatantly obvious where he was on that day.”
“She helped the enemy kill her general?”
“In a way... that's one way of putting it, yeah. She knew the act if found out would brand her a traitor, so she openly told all what she was going to do, and asked if any would oppose her action. None stepped up, so all were eviscerated, all but those that left with her originally. Of course, this only spread rumors of her deeds across that area of Hell, and soon the rumor became a legend.”
“What happened then?”
“The legend that was the Devil, now Queen, Roami discovered that a part of her former family fled to a place far from her reach with her heir, and this angered her, knowing and remembering the hardships she had to endure because they couldn’t accept the truths of life. And so, she set out in search of them outside of Hell. Days turned to years as she searched both this dimension and other lands that cannot be named, because I don't know them, only to stumble back here. For her, it has been thousands upon thousands of years, however here, only mere hundreds. Some say she never left Hell, but that musn't be true.”
“Did she find her daughter?”
“Unfortunately yes and no, in a way. See when she returned, she returned to a world with sealed Hell Gates, effectively making the legend turn to mere myth back home. She was old, very old, but did not look it-”
“How old was she?”
“Oh, easily older than you and I. Far above several Ages, far above twenty thousand I’m sure. Now as for her daughter and the ones that escaped her grasp, quickly she realized that her heiress was killed off in spite and revenge, and the former family members went and settled down, leaving only their generations generation’s grandchildren to remember the tale. With no one else to go, no Hell to return to, and nowhere to call home, Roami became distressed and immoral. Someone had to pay. In her eyes, the world owed her a debt, and she will begin to collect through blood, and myth says when she’s finished…”
“She’ll burn it all down…”
“Well, yes, how’d you…?” The old man looked up from the book as the stranger took off her hood, her blue eyes contrasting against her red and yellow hair of fire. The thick smell of smoke filled the air now as the Librarian’s eyes widened with fear. “You… you…” He stammered, stumbling backward in his chair onto the now hot floor. The woman walked closer to him, each step sizzling, branding the wooden floor with an imprint of her sole. “This is just a… a children’s b-” With precise speed, she put a hand up to cover his mouth, muffled screaming escaping from between her fingers. The heat from her hand began to make the cheeks of the poor man blacken as smoke left her lips.
“Hush, please…” She said, calmly. With her other hand, she reached over and tore a hidden necklace the man had from under his tunic. She raised it in front of his face, its golden crest gleaming in his eyes, now filled with tears. Pressing harder on the man, she watched him wither in pain before noticing him nod towards the tabletop. Without even looking she answered, “I already killed them,” which made the Librarian sob uncontrollably. “You owe me a debt… and I’ve come to collect. And if I can’t have my daughter, you can’t either.”
With that, she laid a small kiss upon his forehead, blowing smoke onto it as she did so. Quickly, smoke entered his body through open spores in the skin from the heat. She allowed the thick smoke to fill his body and slowly deplete it of necessary air. The last thing the man saw was the face of the Devil Queen, and his room of books burst in flames around him, engulfing them both.
Roami walked away from the growing pillar of smoke, satisfied. That was one more person off of her debt list, and she was sure there were plenty more to go. Not being in any rush, she yawned and began walking towards the outskirts of Lorsette, a smile on her face. “He got most of my story wrong too…” she said to herself, wondering how a book with her name in it managed to get here in the first place. Dismissing the thought, the devil put back on her hood and continued on.
misc
Roami can instantly change her clothes by altering the fire’s shape, form, and heat, but if she’s in contact with enough water, it will all sizzle away
Used to be called Ember Match because of her hair
Roami loves to make deals with unsuspecting people, often either ruining their lives or making a new friend
Roami is fascinated with the undead, mostly undead fire dragons after watching the dinosaurs go extinct
Hearing rumors of being able to create hexes using different mediums, Roami is currently searching for someone to teach her, if such a thing even exists

She once met a librarian that somehow failed to notice her burning features, leading to their presumed death
Zayda note: unlike Salem, Roami's backstory isn't too dark, so this is an accomplishment for Zayda
