Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

Origins
[attr="class","thread"]The origins of Felix arrive from years living on a wish. Concepts of a sightless character with electricity manipulation always fascinated, but the concept was not thoroughly etched until I created Felix. There have been many before him, each of different characteristics. However, Felix became something of a dream birthed from my desires to have a character blind, yet, somewhat capable. Therefore, I was proud to make him my third character! <3
ilence befell Felix as they proceeded through the crowd, the blind informant refusing to speak on account of their damaged pride. Strives towards the elusive independence had been taken, but ultimately, failure followed behind their reckless actions to walk amidst a crowd while loudspeakers blared and frightened people scurried away with no predictability to their wild movements. An arm remained roped around their's, the cane softly tapping nearby in search of changes in elevation. While the pair conversed, the purple-haired individual merely followed.
Each step was a reminder they failed in becoming independent, the assistance of others being oddly demeaning for the young individual as they followed. Envy flowed through Felix's mind as they jealously listened to them conversing, remembering they would never view the world, while these fortunate few could open their eyes and see it every single day. The soft sounds of anxious crowd members filled Felix's ears, the blind informant raising a brow as they listened to the words being exchanged. Suddenly, the blind individual's step slowed as their eyes widened at the conversation occurring between the citizens around them.
Somebody mentioned a shady individual retreating from the scene, somebody dressed in black, tall with a thin, beard on the bottom section of his chin. The person they mentioned was spindly with long, skinny limbs which resulted in Felix's steps slowing to a stop, the blind informant waiting for more information. The introductions were detected earlier, the purple-haired individual ceasing movement as the question was asked, however, Felix delayed their answer to listen. Carefully, the blind informant tugged slightly to remain close to the description being verbally announced.
Considering the situation, there was a high chance the information was potentially related to an Assembly soldier, Felix turning their head to Jason, the man who claimed to be associated with the TRS.
"I'm plenty fine," they mumbled, inching away a bit more to perform their job.
They tugged away, attempting to proceed in their occupation, eavesdropping on conversations to research potential information which could become crucial to the Terror Response Syndicate. Suddenly, there was a thunderous noise which boomed over the crowd, Felix ceasing movement to cover their ears as their head pounded in protest. Police was commanding people to proceed in leaving in an organized fashion, however, there were hints of panic in their voice. People screamed as they hurried forward, somebody mentioning a terror as they hurried past.
The blind informant was bumped into as they surged forward, people forcing them to bump into Jason, the person originally guiding them. Concern settled on Felix's face, the blind individual never trained to assist in combat on account of their blindness and parent's overprotectiveness.

lindness did not mean helplessness, but it appeared Felix's day enjoyed proving otherwise as the sightless individual proceeded to be assisted by those gifted with marvellous eyesight. The splendours of being able to view the world, a thing which alluded the informant, making them jealous of their guides through the crowd. An expression of displeasure remained on Felix's face, sightless eyes "gazing" at the ground below while the world around them remained fuzzy from the lack of fixation on their electricity manipulation. Detailing the area around them through sensory felt impossible, especially considering the encroaching headache manifested from the consistent use of loudspeakers to drive away the onlooking crowd of citizens from the crime scene. The firm grip maintained on their arm assured there would be no attempts at wandering through the crowd on their own in honour of their extreme requirement for independence. Should Felix ever gain the opportunity to wish for anything, the sight would be the single thing they desired. While they would be forced to witness horrendous scenes, there would be beauty and an opportunity for the endlessly craved independence.
Unfortunately, managing to catch a Djinni would be futile, Felix's research already proving they could merely teleport objects instead of mending the broken nerves. The blind informant remained near the man as he and the officer discussed escaping the crowd, the intellect already accepting their uselessness. The fuzzy static readings would never allow the agendered individual to assist in guiding them through the crowds, especially considering their radius of sight was lowered immensely. Assistance had been forced upon them, and Felix was forced to listen like a sheep being guided by a pair of shepherds. A soft sigh escaped the informant's lips the longer they silently listened to the exchange of words, although, they opted to eavesdrop on the begrudging crowd who complained about leaving. It appeared they were more concerned about before driven away as opposed to the trio motionlessly stationed in the centre. There was a confidence in the woman's voice, easily detected by Felix who could merely rely on listening and the horrendous senses the static they transmitted provided. The authoritative voice provided by the RCMP officer resulted in people stepping aside, showing their submission to the officer.
The firm grip from the male stranger resulted in Felix waiting until the man moved to follow, the blind individual already guessing they would not be released easily on account of their previously demonstrated recklessness when attempting to maintain some shred of independence; instead, they humiliated themself. As they proceeded through the crowd as expected, the purple-haired nonbinary managed to hear the female officer's name, Amanda, although did not answer in return. After displaying a brash act of stupidity, Felix remained entirely silent, refusing to offer opinions or answers on account of embarrassment. Their cane softly tapped against the ground, the sound blurred from thunderous noise of loudspeakers and crowd goers. They were led by Amanda, the daunting authority of an RCMP officer allowing for there to be a little burden when it arrived in transversing the crowd smoothly. The question towards their well-being was ignored by Felix, the blind informant merely moving as instructed, pride wounded by incapability and voice silenced by humility. They craved the comfort of independence, yet, there were a plethora of things Felix's downgraded "sight" could not accomplish, such as reading words scrawled across a page of text.
A soft sigh escaped Felix's lips, the blind individual still refusing to glance towards the faces of their guides. Damaged pride could be difficult to recover from, especially considering the gifted individual's electric manipulation accompanied by their enhanced memory allowed for them to recognize every turn and bend, yet, they failed to navigate a crowd on account of noise-induced migraines. Thus, they remained silent, allowing the guides to move them as needed.

here was something about the stranger presuming them to have sight which amused and reassured Felix. Perhaps they desired hearing their static “sight” could deceive another individual into believing they could see, although, perhaps it was the man’s tiredness. The apology was responded to with a simple wave of the hand, the blind individual being rather indifferent to the callous assumption about their sight. They supposed after years of blindness, they grew use to the offensive words spoke in regards to it. A fierce harbouring for independence fueled Felix’s decision daily, the blind individual despising the notion of relying on others. Frequently, their overbearing parents constant dotting and fretting resulting in them desiring the power to work on their accord. For years, they depended on others, but they strived to act independently with the assistance of their electricity manipulation. The ability to “see” via static allowed Felix a new perspective, which was more insightful than basic human eyes. Under normal circumstances and with proper focus, the radius around them allowed Felix to be “gazing” in each direction.
Unfortunately, the obnoxious noises of loud speakers proceeded to meddle with the blind individual's focus, leaving their vision fuzzy. Sensing the world became blurry, people melding together as small gaps began fading from their sensory. Slight details faded entirely, forcing Felix to gloss over the changes across the ground. These subtle changes were intimidating, but the blind informant held confidence in their enhanced memory and faint static they maintained. As they stood courageously on the edge of the group while people filtered through. Time remained to request assistance, yielding their independence to avoid the possibility of getting trampled amidst the endless throng of moving bodies. Alas, for Felix, the necessity for complete independence was hounded since becoming a teenager and discovering their unique manner of sight; their sight was advanced enough to fool a teacher under some circumstances, certainly they could handle a meagre crowd, right? A deep breath was inhaled, confidence gaining until finally stepping into the fray. Initially, things progressed smoothly until the blind informant was bounced around by the retreating people around them.
The unexpected movements were disoriented, especially considering the thunderous noises proceeded to meddle with the memory process. There was a pounding migraine brimming, until finally sending and sensing the static currents were limited to a small, insignificant radius. Concern narrowly breached Felix's face, although, they promptly returned to their impassive expression. The attempt at steadily walking proceeded, the informant finding themself lost in the crowd. Abruptly, a hand secured itself around Felix's arm, causing the blind individual to stiffen from a sudden rush of fear. The problem with secretly gathering information was detection, which could lead to a variety of negative consequences from the person's folly. When the man whispered, the informant relaxed slightly as they remembered the TRS agent from the bench, although, their expression subtly shifted to shame. The blind individual's eyes remained downcast while a small frown crawled onto their face. Before the leading could proceed, another person arrived, a feminine voice managing to reach Felix's ears. There was only silence from the TRS informant as they became hesitant to speak after their rather reckless decision which ultimately fail.
Independence was a fleeting thing for Felix and never held firm on account of the deteriation in their optic nerve. Sight could merely be a wonder, but never realized because of the defect which plagued them from birth. Instead of fighting the assistance they received, the blind individual silently accepted it with a sigh while wishing for once they could be capable enough to traverse a loud crowd without help.

here were a few things unsuitable to questions to ask a blind individual about, one being about the subtle features of tiredness. The inquiry resulted in Felix lifting a brow at their companion; he must have not realized the informant was sightless. Fortunately, the strange inquiry was accompanied with further information about the mysterious man, most specifically his occupation. The stranger was a comrade, a fellow affiliated with the Terror Response Syndicate who Felix failed to converse with until this point; however, the informant seldom relayed their information in crowded rooms. They wanted their blind detector to remain off the radar to Assembly members, thus the date Felix collected was oftentimes relayed in quiet, secluded rooms to trusted TRS agents and later spread through the mouths of other agents and through meetings. A faint sigh escaped the blind informant's lips as they faced Jason, staring blankly at the mysterious man they met today.
"I apologize, but I am unable to provide you with those types of opinions," Felix began before carefully pushing up the circular glasses. "I am completely sightless."
The words were stated bluntly, hints of envy crawling into them, although, the tone remained incredibly mechanical. The blind informant was not emotional, resulting in feelings being vaguely conveyed on rare occasion. A grimace became evident on Felix's face when the police arrived on scene to handle the situation. The thunderous noise erupting from the loudspeaker, which wreaked havoc on Felix's mind. Enhanced memory, like various other abilities, arrived with their flaws which the user had to overcome. Unfortunately, for the blind informant, it was the excruciating loud sounds that felt like sledgehammers being swung full-force to their head. After a few moments, Felix covered their ears, attempting to block out the sound until realizing their companion was talking. The stranger was concerned over their health, which was rather reasonable considering the blind informant was in pain because of all the noise. Wordlessly, the informant shook their head at the first question, answering no to confirm they were not alright.
"Noise... is always problematic," they mumbled quietly. "I will be fine."
Slowly, Felix rose from the bench as they attempted to navigate, but already found themself lost from the lack of static. People were being pushed back, the large fray of bodies being nearly impossible for the sightless informant to travel through under any circumstances. The blind individual flinched, but their fierce independence made them hesitant to take their words back and request assistance. There were, unfortunately, certain objectives Felix was unable to accomplish alone because of their blindness. They despised these moments since their craving for independence would be snatched out of their hands because of the nature of the situation and this problem was one they needed help in unless they wanted to desperately try and navigate through alone.

tatic flowed through the air, allowing the young individual access to their special type of sight. There were few easily detected features on account of Felix’s blurry method of seeing. Facial features were a rough sketch of their company’s face, although, the informant was hesitant to fixate their electricity manipulation to receive a more detailed view. While Felix has doubts about people detecting their powers from focused use, the effects of static were noticeable under most circumstances. The effects unfortunately made it difficult to detail somebody’s face for future recognition without their complete oblivion.
There was an aimless manner to which Felix glanced around, following sound queues as their eyes stared unfocused beyond the tall man they conversed with; a bane of being unable to gaze through them. The mention of the recent attack hastily captured the attention of their companion, the man becoming invested in the notion to provide the varying information Felix had overheard; there was evening a shake of the head according to the individual’s electricity manipulation.
Presumably, it was a natural instinct to make such movements even if under normal circumstances a sightless person could not witness the display. These minor details were always a mild curiosity to Felix, the blind informant remembering how strangers would gesture while they spoke. Unfortunately, there was little time to fixate on the curiosities of instinctively accomplished movements. Further details were provided about the nature of the attack, the stranger managing to establish a count of the deceased, most probably being workers of the building.
There were nods of acknowledgement from Felix, confirming they were listening to every precious word that escaped the stranger's lips. Each motion, word and sound was captured in the endless archive of the blind informant's mind, storing it into their enhanced memory for future access; the ability was truly exquisite. The final comment about not being working piqued Felix's curiosity, the blind informant raising a brow and cocking their head to the side slightly.
"Hmm? Conducting research should be permitted during work and leisure hours in any establishment. Certainly, conveniently being a bystander is not against the regulations of your workplace, correct?" Felix inquired in a neutral, sophisticated tone. "Is there a reason behind this vexing restriction?"
Information was valuable to an informant, thus notions of limiting research on account of leisure hours sounded ridiculous to Felix, although, they possessed little data of the situation. The blind individual reclined against the back of the bench and increased the field of their static to allow for further analysis of their surroundings. Suspicious characters could be lurking around any corner, and Felix was determined to detect anybody who made peculiar movements. The conversations proceeded, the truth gradually rising through the rumours, until suddenly the thunderous boom of speakers as police voices.
Their authority commanded citizens to retreat from the scene as TRS arrived on scene. The abrupt sound of the loudspeakers caused Felix to flinch, the blind informant possessing a sensitivity to loud noises. As the noise continued, the gifted individual pressed a hand against their forehead as their static sensory blurred slightly from lack of focus. Enhanced memory came with the price of headaches arriving hastily.

ilently, Felix listened to the conversations occurring around them. Dozens of voices, most quietly whispering about Assembly involvement in the spontaneous attack. The terror, now a black dust on the street, was crucial evidence to the involvement of the Assembly, however, information about an involved soldier remained limited. There was a possibility of an Assembly soldier still being in the vicinity, but information of that calibre was limited. A few choice people stated they caught a glimpse of a soldier while others gossiped about the source being discreditable. These reactions piqued the blind informant’s curiosity as they quietly leaned against one of the buildings. A majority of the city was unfamiliar with Felix’s affiliation with the TRS, which granted them chances of difficult to obtain information. When eyes glanced their way, pity and sympathy were frequent reactions, mingling in with confusion; they were blind, people believed it was a weakness. People moved within the crowd, locating neighbouring clusters to share their opinions before law enforcement provided the entire story. Once it happened, some theories and beliefs would be dropped to adhere to the experts. Facts would be relayed, orbiting around the city until months later the news was merely whispers between citizens.
Due to this frequent trend, Felix stationed themself to listen to the raw facts. Information conflicted, the blind informant listening as a single group stated the presence of an Assembly soldier while another stated the terror acted alone. A few foolish individuals went to the length to state Zeredah was present, but already Felix believed that to be merely a myth. The famous leader of the Assembly of Phantoms seldom revealed herself in the public eye, instead appearing to move her pieces along the chess board. After a few moments, Felix pushed away from the wall, wondering about the crowds while their cane idly tapped the pavement below, head facing forward while static electricity felt the world around them. The informant proceeded to wander through the crowd, gathering the crucial information and sorting fact from fiction. There was plenty of work for the purple-haired individual's enhanced memory, although, they remained concerned about the possibility of facing the ill side-effects that arrived with their gift.
There was the subtle throbbing of their head, the commotion sparking noise among the rather large group and once the RCMP arrived to assist the on duty hunters, it became probable the sound would increase further. Loud noises were a frequent enemy to Felix's enhanced memory, the ability bringing fourth nasty migraines because of thunderous and obnoxious sounds. A soft sigh escaped the informant's lips as they slowly weaved towards the edge of the crowd, their immense intelligence providing an approximate time for police arrival. They did not retreat far when their static sight managed to provide them a "vision" of a man who sat on a bench. The man in question leaned more towards the taller side from what Felix's electro-sensing could tell with longer hair. Facial features were fuzzy from their strange version of sight, but the informant noticed the manner of which he appeared to be sitting; he was listening. The man's lack of interaction with the crowd accompanied by locating a convienent place to iddly sit while people discussed the scene around him.
Curious captured Felix's interest, the young individual moving in the direction, although, attempting to appear mostly sightless. The cane continued tapping against the concrete until the subtle thwap against the wooden bench, the blind individual's hand reaching out to grab the back before sitting down, purposefully brushing close to avoid questions in response to them being aware of the other man's presence.
"My apologies," they mumbles neutrally, shuffling over to give room. "Everybody seems to be concerned over the recent attack."
The following comment was designed to be a subtle prompt towards speaking about the desired topic, Felix already devising plans to carry out the objective of gathering information. After accomplishing the task for several years, the blind informant had their methods of gaining data.

adually, autumn was transitioning into winter, each passing day resulting in the air became cooler. There was some semblance of thin snow or frost littering the ground every morning, accumulating throughout the evening. Birds were beginning to gather in flocks, evident by the chorus of squawks, escaping the land to avoid the cold grasp of winter with plans to return after the snow and ice melted. Above was the shining sun which provided warmth, diminishing the effects of the dropping temperatures of autumn. There were only a few people outside during the morning hours, most having left for their chosen occupations or school, which was unfortunate for a young informant who wandered the streets. After several hours of their parents nagging them over their current clothing and insisting on warmer articles, Felix had finally escaped their overbearing grasp. They loved their parents immensely, but their overbearing behaviour became suffocating on most occasions; most particularly their mother. The woman's guilty conscious over the blindness her child received made her fretful and a frequent culprit of keeping Felix from their duties.
There were plenty of simple, unnecessary adjustments she felt required to accomplish, fiddling with collars, keeping the zipper high, checking for breaks in the cane and several verbal lectures Felix had heard millions of times. While the blind informant could comprehend her concerns, they could never silence the fretting with their compensation for their lack of sight. At times, Felix wanted them to cease their constant fretting and forced help; they never granted them permission to be independent it seemed. Independence was an intense craving for the young individual since it remained the opportunity to prove their capability without their parents' insistence to help. Their eyes were a malformation, making it impossible to heal the disconnected nerve tissues, but the sight was never an issue. Educational problems were solved with their eidetic memory while their electricity manipulation managed to work as a sensor. Even while they walked down the sidewalks of the coastal area, electric sparks pulsated out, providing Felix with an idea of the shapes, buildings and people around them; they could even read letters if they were indented enough.
Despite their useful method of sight, the cane proceeded to tap against the concrete in a rhythmic motion. The sound echoed around them, resulting in the small handful of people noticing their presence. They could easily imagine how some stares lingered considering there was nobody around to guide them through the coastal region. Those types of services would be wasted on them since they mapped out the city, a mixture of enhanced memory accompanied by electricity manipulation assisting in providing Felix with a general idea of Lorsette. They moved smoothly through the streets, listening to the various conversations of the people around them, although, most appeared to be menial gossip or unnecessary information. The electricity proceeded to sense the world around them, eventually noticing a pair of figures in an alleyway, a single word being noticed by their passing. They were speaking about the Assembly of Phantoms, which was always an interesting topic for a TRS informant.
Silently, Felix walked passed before leaning against the wall closest to the alleyway to listen to the unfolding conversation. A hushed voice spoke about the recent affairs of the Assembly, even referencing the horde which occurred in the summer and resulted in numerous casualties. Afterwards, there had been nervousness prominent in the TRS ranks, most events receiving heightened security to avoid further loses of citizens and agents. The pair proceeded to speak, motions of lighting a cigarette noticed by the electric sensor reaching out to inspect the situation. The informant proceeded to listen, the pair appeared to be merely catching up on recent events as one talked about their son's graduation from the TRS. A soft, inaudible sigh escaped Felix's lips as they straightened from their position and returned to tapping their cane against the concrete.
There were days where no crucial information would be discovered, and Felix hoped today would provide them with hefty clues to the Assembly's following moves. While Assembly movements were rarely discussed inside the borders of Lorsette, the blind informant already knew their parents would never allow for a journey to Aria. Should they even suggest the concept, Felix could imagine being condemned to their room for days without being admitted time to perform their job. The blind informant only desired to assist the cause against the Assembly of Phantoms, but their parents placed limits on what could be done. Travelling to Aria to gather information would be beyond dangerous, the purple-haired informant plenty capable to imagine the appalled expressions of their parents and the lecture to proceed.
Their walk through the coastal area took the young informant far as they passed by the expansive Starlight Beach and proceeded in the direction of the various warehouses and stores functioning near the shores. As they entered the different area, Felix managed to notice the number of people growing thicker. In whispers, people conversed with others about a recent terror attack in the area which caught the informant's attention. Quietly, they tapped their cane, allowing for their electricity manipulation to lead them through the crowd while their ears fixated on listening to the crowd around them. Instead of attempting to join a conversation, the agendered individual decided to spend their time listening, deciding they could interact with the crowd around them once they discovered somebody with an adequate sum of information. Where there was Assembly activity, there could always be witness reports about an Assembly soldier being in the area, allowing for another identity to be recognized by the TRS.
Recognizing the enemy was beyond important, Felix already knowing they could absorb the mass of information and be able to recount everything in incredible detail to the various officers at the TRS headquarters. The only concerned was the possibility of the noise being overwhelming; their eidetic memory left them rather sensitive to noise. Despite the mild concern, Felix found a location to stand, listening to the conversation, being solely the listener in the situation.
The warm liquid rolled down Felix's throat while they waited for the stranger to respond or at least cease the aggravating staring. Eyes observing the individual always provided feelings of paranoia which was a natural instinct for an informant in their opinion. Slowly, the cup was lowered back towards the coaster that patiently waited. The possibility of the person being Assembly affiliated lingered in the blind individual's mind, but they managed to maintain a calm disposition. Breathing was slower than usual in effort to keep their heart rate a steady average; those with enhanced hearing could possibility notice if it increased. The actions were all taken out of caution, mostly to avoid displaying nervous emotions. Gradually, the individual settled back into the comfort of the couch where they heard the man's response whispered back; it caused Felix to raise a brow.
This man definitely appeared to be observational based on the spoken words. There appeared to be a brief amount of time taken to register what the blind individual was accomplishing, although, Felix bore no malicious intentions. The stranger had likely realized they were quietly listening instead of resting in the luxurious comfort of the couch. A momentarily silence was kept by the blind individual as they organized their thoughts for a response.
"You believe me to possess ill-intent? Is listening truthfully a crime when your eyes can not interact with the world?" Felix inquired, curious towards the answers. "I assure you that my listening holds no maliciousness."
The words were quietly spoken, an attempt to keep the accusations between themself and this stranger. The mere noticing of their listening caused the informant to feel slightly tense; somebody had observed them enough to make those connections. However, it was difficult not to under close observation considering the positioning the blind individual had given themself while sinking into the depths of the couch allowed for them to silently hear the various conversations.
Warmth embraced Felix with comfort similar to a friend as they remained relaxed in the softness of the couch. Cold and heat warred on their red cheeks, obvious by the bouts of pains as cold futilely fought back against the overwhelming forces of warmth. The blind individual's electricity manipulation continued to send out static waves, allowing the various shapes in the room to fuzzily be pictured. The tables, chairs alongside the couch backed against them were sensed thoroughly to regain a thorough familiarity of the environment; not much had changed since their last visit. Dedicated gossipers remained in their usual seats, recognized by their tones, vocal patterns alongside the shape provided by static sensory. Conversation proceeded smoothly in loud talking with the occasional obnoxious shouts of surprise over the latest news, but none remained fixated on what Felix required.
Eventually, a ring arrived from the bell stationed above the door, signalling the arrival of the latest patron. Instead of providing acknowledgement, Felix allowed themself to sink further into the soft depths of the couch. Their cane carefully leaned against the edge of the couch, quietly waiting should it be required. They sensed their fellow patron move, noticing when he settled on the couch behind them. Sounds of settling were made, but the informant remained unbothered by the man's presence. Listening was the primary objective, thus Felix ignored the eating man and instead continued to eavesdrop on the numerous pieces of useless information in hopes of discovering a diamond in the rough. Unfortunate, a majority of the conversational topics featured around the dull gossiping of mere personal affairs which was meager in significant information standards. The blind individual was not content with the lack of information, but their face remained impassive.
A mild regret began sparking over arriving at the cafe given the horrendous weather conditions considering there was a severe lacking in required data. Remaining within the wonderful doors of home would have satisfied their parents alongside allowed them to avoid the harshness of the brutal weather. These conversations that would become locked within the vault that was their eidetic memory were worthless. There were no mentioning of terrors or the Assembly of Phantoms and instead conversation revolving around petty teenage problems to fulfill the pathetic requirement of complaining. Fortunately, the elevated noise lacked the capability to initiate a headache; something Felix was thankful for. There were no thoughts taken towards interacting with the stranger stationed on the neighboring couch despite the possible providing of knowledge they craved. When their couch neighbor leaned back, Felix did not openly acknowledge the action and continued facing ahead of them.
Static sensing allowed the informant to become aware of the scrutinizing the man was doing alongside the various aspects of his appearance. The shaping remained unfocused, the blind individual finding it difficult considering the numerous layers of clothing the man possessed; the static was through the fabrics in a confusing muddle. Silence proceeded, Felix gradually growing irritated with the observing.
"I would prefer if you ceased staring, it is bothersome," the young individual stated neutrally.
Their purple eyes remained facing towards the window as blindness made attempting eye contact pointless; their envy remained with those who could learn to value it. A bland neutrality was contained in Felix's voice, displaying the maintained impassiveness towards other individuals. Slowly, the informant adjusted their position, allowing them to properly sit despite the squishy prison that was the couch. The tea was retrieved smoothly and ferried towards Felix's lip for a small sip while their ears listened for the response of their neighbor. Information was lacking from a majority of the patrons, thus possibly commencing an active conversation could provide some yields or at least mild amusement.
Gradually, winter was drawing to a close with the arrival of February. Although, the weather cheerfully continued throwing despicable frigid temperatures in an unforgiving manner. Winds were high, blowing flakes of snow off the ground. Ultimately, the windchill added to the already cold weather of the day. Exposed skin stung when the winds made contact, freezing even the most warm blooded. Work was still a necessity, which resulted in Felix rousing from the comfort of their bed to tug on warm clothing. Shortly afterwards, they were berated by their parents for the notion of going outside which meant being fussed over. They worked towards dressing their blind child would be protected from the frigid temperatures. Their benevolence was taken, but Felix merely felt the stigma of being helpless lingering over their head.
Near the end of the warm clothing endeavour, their parents had dressed them in a thick dark purple sweater, an oversized black coat, a set of monochrome mittens, scarf and toque before feeling their child was prepared. Naturally, they insisted on giving them a ride with consideration of the horrible weather a walk would face. Although, Felix constantly refused the proposal with intentions of feeling independent. Even as they escaped the warm surroundings of home they lacked regret despite the vicious assault the wind wagered against their face. The blind individual's cheeks were stinging while they braced the malicious freezing wind. Whistles and rustling tree branches could be heard alongside the tapping of Felix's cane on the cement sidewalk. Static electricity spread out from the purple-haired person in order to sense their current whereabouts as they traveled.
The streets appeared relatively empty due to the horrendous weather the day was providing. It became obvious to the blind individual from both sensory and lack of voices. Gently, Felix pushed up the black tinted lenses as they continued to listen to the whistling wind. The memorization of a majority of Lorsette's layout remained ingrained in the blind individual's mind, allowing for smooth navigation to the presumed location the various citizens may have fled. A haste was captured in their steps as they grew closer to their destination, Crescent Moon Cafe. Their static sensory noticed the indentation in the building that acted as a door, the sign above with its shape alongside indented letters provided further indication. Carefully, the purple-haired teen pushed open the cafe door, hearing a bell signaling the arrival of a newcomer.
Warmth wrapped around them, providing comfort in its friendly embrace despite causing an increased stinging. Scents of baking a fresh coffee filled the air, making the atmosphere more inviting; alongside giving another confirmation that they had the right location. Soft voices spoke which allowed Felix to be aware that there were a few other occupants of the cafe that decided to settle in the quiet with a pleasant hot beverage. Hushed speaking was inviting to the blind individual due to their sensitivity to thunderous noises; the last desire they held was gaining a headache. They walked towards the counter, Felix's hands carefully fetching the five dollar bill from their pocket, the amount becoming obvious from the braille edging. A pleasantly warm cup of tea was purchased, the worker already aware of them. Afterwards, Felix turned away from the counter, sending out static waves to allow them to sense for a quiet, secluded space to listen.
The sensory confirmed the couch was available, thus the blind individual walked towards it, settling in the plush surface. The porcelain mug holding the tea was carefully set on the table while Felix leaned back into the comfortable seat. A gentle sigh escaped their lips as they folded their hands onto their lap. The informant remained silent, listening to their surroundings in hopes of discovering the latest information that could be provided to the TRS. There was work to be accomplished, which meant allowing themself to carefully eavesdrop on the various other cafe occupants; rude, but required for their occupation. With that, the blind individual granted their body rest while they gained the information that would remained locked in their eidetic memory for years.
There was an extreme lack of emotion in Felix's face now; they always hated rude behavior. It was rather intolerable to them and made it difficult to pity the girl who had clearly been upset a mere few moments ago. In this case, however, the stranger also seemed to possess a short-tempered personality. When they referred to her as rude, they grew furious over the concept. For the blind informant, it was not obvious until she started to lash words of anger their way. Most may have flinched, perhaps even backed down or returned the angry tone of voice at the stranger, but Felix refrained. They kept a placid composure, their impassive face making it appear as though they were unaffected by the girl's overwhelming anger. In fact, they swore they could sense the amount of anger the stranger held towards them; that was definitely odd.
For the time being, Felix decided to wait for later to ponder over the peculiar discoveries they were making while conversing with this girl. They needed peace and quiet to give the quarry of why thoroughly. When the teenage girl finished screaming, a moment of hesitation was taken for the blind informant to make certain she was finished.
"First of all, I am blind, not deaf. So if you could refrain from yelling as to allow my hearing to remain intact, that would be marvelous. Secondly, I already informed you that I work as an informant, therefore, your sudden following after I left the crowded section of the park was seen as threatening. Thirdly, I am blind so how could I possibly know you were not a threat? Lastly, for all my knowledge about you, a stranger, there was no possible way for me to deduct whether or not you possessed powers that could have been used as an execution method. All those points placed together proves that there is no possible method for me to detect how threatening you were."
There words were stated firmly, holding a neutral tone as they informed the woman of the defense they held. Although, Felix would admit that it was morally wrong of them to have shocked the young girl, it did not mean they would passively allow her to treat them rudely. In the scenario, it was probable that people would view them as the aggressor, but that was a so be it case. That was a sensible reasoning considering they were only making the matter worst as the female teen began getting mad at them again.
"I apologized for what I did, numerous times. I still carry that pang of guilt, but the fact that you discourteously brushed be away for attempting to make amends is why I am classifying you as rude. Should you redeem yourself, than perhaps the unkindly word will not be associated with your-" Felix stopped suddenly.
They picked it up, the noise of the redheaded woman gasping for air. Another stirring a guilt entered their emotions, they had done something terrible they felt. For a moment, they considered trying to help, but they remembered what the girl had stated before which caused them to hesitate a second. That verbal promise was definitely not enough to cease them from trying to help her when she was struggling to breath. Thus, Felix closed the distance, but refrained from reaching out to touch them.
"Excuse me? You alright?" The blind individual asked.
Their static sensory went to work, focusing in an attempt to help Felix recognize the contours of her face. It was clearly a medical issue of sorts, perhaps onset from their pushing? A moment was taken to calculate the possibilities, one of the being a panic attack. The next question was what they could possibly due to assist the girl and after a few seconds they stationed themself beside her and began the little helpful tips they heard; they were really praying that they were not incorrect in this case.
"It will be alright, try to slow your breathing. It will cease soon, I promise and I assure you, I'm no liar," Felix said gently.
The words were merely a beginning, genuine concern marking them every so often. Felix always struggled to put emotion into their tone of voice, which caused them to worry they were not doing a significant enough job. For a few moments, they remained silent in order to monitor if the stranger was indeed entering a panic attack and if anything they said were helping.
Concern seem to be an ever growing emotion while Felix watched the poor girl who they had harmed. They noticed her flinch the moment their hand made contact with her arm which only caused the blind individual to feel another pang of guilt. Had they scared her that badly? When she began shaking, the guilt began to show on the impassive individual's face. They were feeling absolutely rotten about what they had done to this poor young woman. When the girl sat up, there was a little relief. Their senses remained up in order to check her expressions or for any sudden movements. Shortly, they found themself surprised as the girl suddenly stood up and crossed her arms. As usual, the emotion of surprise did not cross their face while they listened to the stranger as she stated that she did not require his help.
The anger and steel within their voice did not sting Felix, but they were admittedly bothered by the manner of which she stated that she did not need their help. Slowly, the blind individual stood and looked at her with perhaps the wrong idea over the 'especially from you' bit. It was hard not to take offense from that considering to Felix it meant that she perhaps did not want their help due to their blindness; either that or it was a fierce need for independence or perhaps they were angry for them shocking her. They were really not appreciating the manner of which they were being spoken to either way and no longer felt guilty for shocking her. If she planned to display this rude behavior over their attempt to make amends, Felix had no reason to feel the way they had been.
"Well, excuse me for attempting to assist you. I will definitely remember next time, should there be one, that you are plenty capable to take care of yourself. Not that I would desire to assist you again considering the impertinent manner you are displaying towards me, which I do not appreciate." Their tone had returned to completely neutral, carrying the usual sophistication. "Lastly, I still want to know why exactly you were following me."
Each word was pronounced perfectly as though they had all been said before in the exact same string of words. There was no longer a reason to display some emotions; this girl was acting rudely towards them. At least they were obviously feeling better, which meant Felix had a reason to interrogate her to find out why exactly she may have been following them. The stranger's behavior gave them further reasoning to poke for answers; being slightly rude to this young woman was no longer a bother to Felix. The blind individual crossed their arms and waited for her response in hopes it was an actual answer.
There was a pause as Felix waited for the stranger to answer them, however, things shortly changed when the girl began screaming and convulsing. A feeling of guilt entered the blind individual, their paranoia caused them to do something horrible. Before they could manage to do something about the situation, a violent swirling of emotions seemed to slam into them. There was fear, plenty of it that appeared suddenly and caused Felix to backpedal a few steps in surprise. The strength of the emotions that seemed to radiate from the young girl caused the blind individual to shake. Their mind was thrown in disarray from the fear and the slight headache edging from the screaming. Emotionally, it felt as though Felix was plunged somewhere dark and horrible. Prior to usual, the concern, guilt and fear became more evident on their face as the blind individual got launched into a pit of emotions.
Eventually, the emotional hold seemed to cease and their breathing steadied from the occurrence. For a few moments, the blind individual merely recovered from the upset. The headache they possessed faded quickly and finally their mind felt reorganized. A few slow breaths were taken before Felix's static sensory was reactivated. That was when they noticed the girl curled up, apologizing and with a little focus the purple-haired individual managed to notice she was crying. The guilt seemed to stab at Felix, and with a gentle sigh they slowly crouched down. They looked at the girl with uncertainty to whether or not they should reach out and touch her. Hesitantly, the blind individual reached out to softly touch her arm to grab her attention.
"You should not be the one apologizing. I did not mean to startle you. I sincerely apologize," Felix stated. Their voice possessed a hint more emotion than usual. "I am an informant, thus, when I noticed you following me I thought you wanted to bring harm to me. What I did was reckless behavior sparked from my own paranoia and a moment of idiocy. I do apologize once again."
They still felt guilty while they remained crouched. Doing nothing about this was definitely not on the agenda, they had to assist this young woman after what they had created. It was the least Felix could do.
"Is there anything I can do to calm you down?" Felix inquired gently.
There had to be something they could do to help her feel better, or at least calm down. The guilt laid heavy on the blind individual's heart; they felt horrible for making this woman so upset. A silent curse was given to their sudden burst of paranoia over the concept of being followed by an individual who wished to do them harm. Reckless, it was completely reckless and Felix was mentally scolding themself for their actions. They could have merely looped back around to the more crowded section of the park, but instead decided to take matters into their own hands and "defend" themself. It was a moment of stupidity and Felix would not lie in saying they was hated themself for it.
The world seemed quiet while Felix continued their lonesome walk, their cane serving as the only company. Crunch of snow and the gentle tapping were the only noises in the blind individual's world meanwhile their senses searched the area. There was mild guilt in brushing off the gentleman who was attempting to assist them; it only furthered their guilt when they thought about how he could not have been aware of Felix's senses. An gentle sigh escaped their lips while they continued their walk down the pathway. It was merely their craving for independence that made attempts to assist them more of a nuisance than a helpful act. Their thoughts remained preoccupied with the occurrence until Felix began noticing something in their sensory circle. Thoughts about what happened faded from the blind individual's mind for the time being, somebody was following them.
Suddenly, Felix was alert as they became concerned over this development. Somebody had conveniently began following them the instant they left the crowded section of the park. It screamed possible kidnapping or something similar, and them being an informant meant they could be quite the prize. Either way, Felix remained wary as they continued down the path, focusing on the mysterious person following them. Despite the nervousness they felt creeping in, the purple haired individual refused to show the emotion on their face. They feigned obliviousness, deciding it was best to wait and make certain that this person was indeed following them. While they walked, Felix focused their static sense on the individual and began noting certain traits, like a feminine physique; presumably they were female. She seemed keen on following, although, the reasoning was uncertain to Felix. The longer the following occurred, the more paranoid Felix found themself feeling; it was hard not to be when danger was in the informant job description. Breathing was kept calm, steps were forced to not speed up and with all their might they refused to look behind them.
When the twig snapped and the girl hid, Felix was fairly certain that there was something wrong. Their thoughts were screaming that she was a threat. In a moment of instincts, the blind individual focused their electrokinesis causing it to give the girl a quick zap in hopes to create a momentary stun. They looped back, not bothering with the cane tapping while they briskly walked towards the girl's hiding place. Once stationed in front of the girl, they placed both hands on top of their cane and used their static sense to find her face and look at her.
"Now, may I ask why exactly you were following me?" Felix asked in a neutral tone.
They did their best to keep the emotion away from their voice. The purple-haired individual honestly felt frightened by the concept of being followed. For all they knew, this person was more dangerous than she was letting on currently. To increase their nervousness, Felix was a horrible fighter due to lack of training. Thus, they silently prayed it would not turn into a brawl.
