felix mellobrook the obstacle of sightlessness is not devastating. general info
appearance A man of a rather short stature, Felix reaches a height of 5’6” with a slender frame. The young gifted lacks weight, making him easily thrown around if somebody wishes to use physical strength against him. The point is, he is a light-weight young man hardly capable of enforcing physical strength over another person. This alternatively makes it easier for somebody to pick Felix up without much hindrance. He is skinny, possessing little muscle mass or mass in general. His arms are relatively lanky, only adding to his thin body type, much to his dismay. As somebody fated with sightlessness, Felix is forced to spend a majority of his time indoors, granting him a pale complexion in comparison to most. There have been incidents of people who are unfamiliar with Felix inquiring if he is sick because of the ghostly, pale nature of his body. For the most part, the skin of his body is flawless, with a single exception. Stationed below the left side of his mouth, just above the corner of his lip is a tiny blemish. A small, dark-coloured mole exists there. It is a minor blemish and something Felix hardly notices unless he touches his face. Fortunately, Felix’s thin nature gifted him with a delightfully slender facial structure. His cheekbones are positioned high, however, still maintain a gentle contour as they lead further into his cheeks. Due to the Mellobrook males notoriously lacking facial hair, he is gifted with a smooth face. Silky violet hair is perched atop his head, flowing down into locks with a subte curl at their ends. For the most part, Felix’s hair is well-tidied and the subtle curls add to a pleasant balance of semi-straight, yet, slightly curled. Behind a pair of darkened lenses are a matching pair of violet eyes in a lighter shade. These eyes are accented with long, curled eyelashes, giving them a more feminine appeal. At times, the condition of Felix’s eyes results in people not realizing his condition. Furthermore, his unique method of navigation only cements in the minds of some people he meets. Should Felix decide to pick his own outfits, there would undoubtedly be a clash of colours in his choices. Thus his parents regularly arrange his attire with some minor exception. The most prominent of these exceptions being the dark-shaded, rounded glasses settled on the bridge of his nose. Stereotypical of a blind man, alas, something he believes brings an essence of class despite his lacking in stylistic awareness. Under most circumstances, the chosen clothes provided by his parents consists of plain colours. In favour of Felix’s preference for more formal attire, his parents do buy dress pants to assist with that aesthetic. Otherwise, his shirts are rather plain to avoid consistent button fumbling, thus his shirts are regularly casual. One of his more infamous pieces of clothing consists of a high-collared purple jacket to match his violet locks. The jacket’s collar rests just below his chin, but at times, Felix will bring it higher to hide his lips. A black belt wraps around his waist for an accent. His footwear consists of sneakers and a pair of black boots, both having the grips regularly checked because of his parents’ fussing. Should the bottoms become too smooth, his parents are quick to replace them with something more sturdy. At all times, Felix carries a polished, dark-oak cane with a silver handle. A fabric band is connected to it to go around Felix’s wrist to avoid losing it. This is among the few signs of Felix’s condition. personality
Among those most striking traits is Felix’s immense intelligence manifested by his enhanced memory. Unlike a majority of individuals, he can retain memories, and therefore knowledge, via remembering instructions, formulas and anything else used to receive answers or remember the answers themself. Surges of intense pride enter Felix’s heart since it allows when he is capable of educating someone or even correcting their facts; he is considerably outspoken in these regards. It is something he considers helpful, although, there is potential for people to find this obnoxious. Alas, this is hardly something Felix is capable of detecting. Although, due to his ability, Felix can confidently state facts without hesitation and with minimal errors. Effectively, this grants him the impression of having vast amounts of intelligence. Further cementing this is Felix is considered book smart, allowing him to test excellently in his classes. Throughout his high school life, he was renowned for earning high grades and doing excellently on assignments, although, his curriculum alters from the average. When other students were describing pictures and their qualities, he was taught the wonders of sounds, shapes and other additions he could learn without the requirement of sight. This mostly altered his English class and only altered his mathematics until the development of special “sight”. Assuring his incredible grading is Felix’s hard working attitude, especially in regards to making up for what he lacks. Precious hours were poured into learning everything for school in hopes of remaining on-parr with his fellow students. The hard-working attitude he implemented allows him to possess a steely perseverance when it comes to his objectives. When it comes to the tasks he is given, people will discover somebody dedicated to the task at hand and determined to complete it. Despite all his perseverance and hard-working nature, Felix is begrudgingly dependent on those around him. As much as he despises being forced to rely on others, his sightlessness gives him little choice. Simple tasks such as reading requires the usage of special devices or another person reading through the provided information. Writing is near impossible with answers being required to be given verbally to a machine to automatically type his messages, with the potential of error, or a person. Some forms of technology, such as a computer, are impossible for his single-handed use unless given a method to give vocal input. Alas, this forced dependency on others has manifested a severe grouping of characteristics. Beneath those forcesive situations of required assistance has created a fierce requirement for independence. With the assistance of a harboured envy over those whose optics function, it only worsens matters. This makes Felix a variety of things when it comes to his overall attitude and the motivation for his actions. He craves the sweetest taste of capability and independence to critical points. Disobedience plagues his steps as he blatantly disregards commands designed to assure his safety. From escaping the watchful eyes of those assigned to protect him to selectively hearing what his protective parents tell him, he disobeys those orders unless forced. This serves him a distinct recklessness that follows his foolish actions wherever he goes. When it comes to taking assistance, Felix is extremely stubborn about it and will frequently refuse assistance. The intelligence? It feeds his crazed mindset to receive blissful independence for Felix’s enhanced memory accompanied with high-precision static allows him to successfully navigate. As an individual, Felix is unaware of the term ‘quit while you are ahead’ and therefore continuously works to gain more solo working ability. Under a majority of circumstances, his realistic thinking grounds him what is plausible, his personal abilities seemingly spared from these intense emotions. Thus despite where his boundless intelligence serves him with a fortunate sense of realism, his fierce desire for independence ignores this. Failure to prove himself as independent makes him disparage. As somebody who lacks sight, Felix did grow some positive traits, specifically an innate requirement to remain organized. Inside his room, everything has a special place and is required to be returned to those locations. If he needs to enter his room without his specialized sight, Felix needs to assure nothing will hinder his entrance. This includes items that could potentially trip him. The amassed intellect Felix has been fortunately gifted accompanied with his disability has coaxed him into becoming skeptical. While he is not completely distrusting, he is cautious around others, especially those he deems ethically questionable. In cases of incorrect judgement, Felix has proved on many occasions to take responsibility for the actions he commits. With an endless craving for elusive independence, Felix tends to take some pride and show responsibility for his actions. It is, but a part of being an independent being, correct? Similarly, Felix attempts to create an atmosphere of maturity when interacting with other people, causing him to use sophisticated language in an attempt to convey this. Given his current occupation as a TRS informant, Felix is considered courageous by some who interact with him. The untamable recklessness inside the young, blind mind reinforces these beliefs for some. They are correct in these terms, for Felix’s lack of awareness in his limits allows him to push himself harder and enter these perilous situations for precious information. He thinks highly of his occupation with the TRS and is an incredibly loyal man to the cause, thus, he is willing to take some risks in order to retain vital facts with his absorbent mind. This has caused them to enter troublesome circumstances, making a subtle paranoia for the information gatherer. Alas, Felix’s ambitiousness motivates him to proceed down this dangerous path. Helping the TRS conquer the Assembly of Phantoms is a goal of his, therefore, he is determined to accomplish it. Although, his ambitiousness does lead him to become critical of others from time to time, making Felix’s opinions sharp-tongued. He is serious about the things he does and therefore has high expectations of those around him. Unbeknownst to plenty, Felix is willing to employ devious or deceptive tactics to gather information. At times, he will even disable his high-precision static to avoid the opposition realizing the power he has. This is a tactic to make others underestimate him and perhaps result in him being capable of passively walking by unlike a majority of individuals. Furthermore, Felix is more than willing to use cheap moves to escape those wishing to harm him. This at times results in him sending a high-quality shock to the ground to create dust or hitting others in vulnerable areas. Another notable fact for a majority of people is Felix’s lack of expressiveness and impassive nature. Frequently, Felix has struggled to share and display his emotions to others which at times creates the stigma of him being cold. Unfortunately, this would be correct. Years of only having his intelligence to rely on and a severe lack of friends resulted in difficulties forming long-lasting friendships. He became a cold man who struggled to empathize with others as a result. Bluntness developed from his impassive nature, making those around him no longer wish to associate with him. abilities Electricity Manipulation -- Advanced The ability to control electricity, allowing the user to create static or shock people. Sight was something beyond Felix and not achievable. Alas, the purple-haired man was provided the ability of a rather different seeing method through his electricity manipulation. The gifted man sends out static, using it to effectively sense his way around. While he has no methods of seeing colours or reading books, he can notice subtle indentations. This accompanied with his enhanced memory allows Felix to navigate around Lorsette without issue. He has been trying to expand his static navigating abilities. He can “see” things within a 50 meter radius and unlike a majority of people, this allows Felix to sense behind him, around corners and if there are enough gaps, inside of cabinets. Thus, unlike most people, Felix can avoid being snuck up on. Due to this high-precision static, he can recognize the facial structure of different people, but also causes their hair to stand on end. People around him risk an acute static shock. Alas, similar to his fellow gifted, Felix holds his share of flaws with his electricity manipulation. While he can use high-precision static, offensive attacks are almost beyond Felix. He can accomplish a quick, painful, albeit, non-fatal shock. It is enough to stun people, allowing Felix to flee should he be required to. Alas, offensive measures deteriorate Felix’s stamina, making him tired quickly. The blind man’s best method of “defense” is a single shock and running away. He can shock a maximum of 5 times. This is believed to be the result of his high-precision static requiring a constant feed of minimal energy. His high-precision static sight requires focus, which Felix is capable of maintaining throughout the day. Unfortunately, constant loud noises result in painful migraines that make it impossible for Felix to access his static sight for that time. Luckily, this ability does make Felix immune to electricity. Enhanced Memory -- Natural The ability to retain memories better than a normal individual. As somebody plagued with blindness, Felix is eternally thankful for his enhanced memory. The learning struggles of being sightless never affected him because of his ability to remember spoken words without exerting too much effort. Specific details can be recalled hastily and without hesitation, allowing Felix to spout the answers of questions without thinking extensively. Essentially, Felix’s mind has transformed into an endless archive of information, making him a vital source of intel in the fight against the Assembly of Phantoms. There are plenty of perks to possessing a superhuman memory, the most renown being it acts as a defense against memory manipulators. The ability provides a shield against those types of manipulators, keeping Felix safe. Alas, Felix’s absorbent brain holds sorrowful flaws other than being unable to rewatch movies to remember the ending. Traumatic memories stick to the corridors of his brain, permanently nailed to the walls, forcing him to recall them. This is similar to memories that result in emotional upset, making him vulnerable mentally. Because of the sheer amount of information his mind retains, Felix is more prone to headaches. These headaches are caused by loud noises and affect his high-precision static. Immortality -- Natural The ability to be rendered ageless. As of recently, this ability has developed for Felix, however, he is unaware of the situation. He is capable of surpassing the age of those around him. It is believed this ability derived from a distant ancestor and manifested not long after his 20th birthday. He will appear young despite the threat of a ticking clock and render him immune to a natural death via the hands of old age. It also makes him less susceptible to illness. He can still be killed by being wounded. backstory I have never been capable of sight... a vexing concept which leaves me void of the world’s wonders, such as colours for example. I am aware that Canada and Europe spell it with a c-o-l-o-u-r and America prefers c-o-l-o-r, however, describing the notion to somebody of my condition is an impossible feat. Yet, I can remember everything, from my first to the moments afterwards as though it occurred a mere few minutes ago. A rather peculiar existence of possessing boundless knowledge from a mind beyond capable of holding memories, alas, never a single one having sight involved. I could tell a million stories describing the shapes of the scene, but never be able of informing you of the colour of my parents’ hair or eyes. Blindness, it haunted him since birth... A looming presence known when doctors accomplished the regular check ups from a freshly born child. Hidden beneath those gorgeous, violet orbs was a malicious malformation. Those wonderful pieces of the eyes broken in a single location, unable to be healed and permanently rendering the child blind. A hereditary biological “curse” from a single parent’s side of the family. The father? His biological history was clean with limited health issues, something admirable and desired by most desiring a healthy life... but the mother? Diana Mellobrook arrived from a family haunted by the frightful words of optic atrophy. Generations were skipped in the massive fortune of the gene roulette, but the cursed biological illness resurfaced. When the doctor returned with the devastating news, Diana wailed about it being her fault for an unfortunate set of genetics that robbed their son of his sight... and from there swore she would never have another child of her own. Their child was completely sightless which automatically translated to helplessness without a second thought. These worrisome feelings manifested themselves into a fierce, overprotective nature over their first and only child. Unlike most children, Felix was sheltered through portions of his childhood and forced to remain shut inside. They always claimed it was in the name of his safety, something crucial and required by everybody. Love and over-protectiveness, it suffocated the young infant as his parents raised him. Exploration was stifled for a youthful Felix as he remembered the manner his mother scooped him up. An arm under his stomach, pulling him up into the backrest of his mother’s upper arm. From there he would be placed in the safety of his crib. Hence, when the child grew into a curious young boy, he discovered the differences in his life compared to others. He remembered the joyous sounds of children playing, the words “PASS IT TO ME!” managing to penetrate their small home. He remembered listening, the curiosities that manifested over the actions being accomplished. His head tilted softly to the side as thoughts swirled through his little knoggon. What was happening beyond the borders of his home? Why was there laughter and gleefully exchanged words in muffle tones? His intrigue consumed him, thus the young child stumbled off the couch and gradually wandered the home. He eventually found the chilly handle of the front door. The young toddler, a mere 4 years old attempted to open the door, however, his mother quickly found him. Scooped into her arms, the panicked woman escorted her son back to the living room. ”Felix, dear, you cannot go out there by yourself! Why would you want outside?” “I hear noises. I wanted to play.” “By Enki! You cannot do that. It would be too dangerous for a child like you.” With those words, he was returned to the couch and forbidden to participate in the game outside. He was a young, naive child who believed everybody only saw the endless darkness of being blind. Never had he thought of the possibility of sight until that day. He nagged his mother for a reason by incessantly inquiring about it. Then, his mother provided a lengthy explanation, one riddled with questions and confusion as she explained “sight”. She used the described video of his childhood movies as an example along with books. Either way, the point made was Felix was different from the other children. Smited with sightlessness and told he would never witness the unbridled beauty of the world. He supposed it started his wishes for something more than the blank screen presented to him constantly. Alas, fate would lead him down the path of never having the opportunity. The beginning of Felix’s education was unique and difficult because of his lack of sight. Bumps on paper designed for a special type of reading through his fingers. It tickled the palms of his fingers as he slowly read each letter, searching for the answers. Quickly, he found himself favouring subjects like math and science where it was fixated on remembering facts or formulas. Although, the explorer’s spirit of his geography classes always excited the young boy. The teachers would make models and bring in rocks and nature for him to feel to assist with his comprehension. Specialized maps were created to allow his fingers to trace the precious grooves of the map. If it were not for the enhanced state of his memory, Felix would have fallen behind in his classes. Yet every word and sensation was remembered, permanently archived into the depths of his mind. Alas, Felix’s education was something done with an educational assistant in a quiet room. He would accomplish the work while the assistant read things like textbooks or typed up his words while he spoke. They were always an assistant, someone necessary to guide him around school or help with his comprehension of images… and he hated it. Every other student learned to do everything by himself, but him? Trapped in an endless loop of reliance that he wished to break. Questions were sometimes read to him in a slow manner to assure he absorbed every letter and syllable... an embarrassment for a mind that remembered the exact manner the previous question was spoken. Meanwhile, his classmates worked together, creating relationships and socializing regularly. The separation caused him to suffer in social development as his intellect appeared to become praised by teachers and anybody who worked with him. Regularly, those cursed with being sightless fall behind in studies because of the crucial implications of sight. A majority of the populace are provided with the favourable results of having all 5 senses, some perhaps more dulled compared to others. Unfortunately, for anybody lacking a single of those normal qualities, they receive the sorrowful possibility of requiring extensive tutoring to counteract the deficiencies of their body. Built upon satisfying the common denominator, education at times holds shortcomings in teaching those lacking those common features. Preparations for these incidents takes time and forethought and the only reason my school was readied for my arrival was the overprotective and over-concerned attitudes of my parents. Yet, to their relief, I possessed something beyond the memory capacity of a regular elementary schooler. Every word they spoke was permanently archived and prepared for regurgitation. So I supposed they were assisted by those fortunes. Upon entering high school, Felix was fortunate to receive the opportunity to prove to his peers the vastness of his intellect. Certain lessons could not be learned, therefore, his educational assistants advanced the subjects he could be easily taught. More advanced math equations, spelling bees with expectations to recite definitions and high-calibre science knowledge. Yet, the seemingly simplest concepts such as colour and the beauty of a sunset or rise was beyond Felix. The mystic notions of shades and mixed pigments only perplexed the young, blind teenager. Explaining colours to a sightless man was an impossible. Therefore, mentioning the word blue and elaborating on it was meaningless drivel for Felix. Alas, he always harboured that curiosity and those endless wishes to view something beyond his incredible mind. Nonetheless, he scored the highest marks possible for someone of his misfortunes and proved to have a mental capacity beyond the mundane; his memory was enhanced after all. Alas, similar to his peers, Felix experienced the discomforts of puberty and the overwhelming struggles to understand one’s self. In the midst of those regular feelings, he arrived at the thought of wishes to associate with a different gender... hence, he informed his parents about the switch in his identity. The support was overwhelming with benevolent words and endless kindness... thus even when Felix came to regret his choices, he found himself maintaining the abrupt choice to associate himself with a non-binary gender... The label suffocated him, but he dared not speak against his previous decisions. He was a young, foolish teen who believed his parents would display disappointment should he abruptly change his mind... or think him somebody completely unaware of what he desired. In the midst of his gender dilemma, he discovered something hidden from him throughout the reliance of his childhood. A dream that a blind teen wishing for independence was engulfed by the moment he discovered it. The shocks began as something accidental that never harmed Felix. Only the occasional nuisance, like when his papers were subjected to static cling... His parents explained electricity manipulation, stating unlike Felix’s enhanced memory, it tended to manifest later in life for the Mellobrook family. Therefore, his parents would teach him to control it in hopes of ceasing the little static shocks he gave his schoolmates. They never dreamed of teaching their son self-defense or anything other than suppressing those static shocks... Unfortunately for them, Felix was a curious boy with an advanced intellect and the required notions to piece something together. It started with Felix noticing something, how he could sense where electricity resided and when those static shocks occurred. From there, he developed his ability, strengthening it and honing in on the concept of static energy. Through this, Felix began creating the startings of something to aid him in his wishes for independence. Via manifesting a small static radius, he could actively map out the area around him and through his enhanced memory, effectively remember routes without becoming misplaced. He took care to inquire about streets whenever his parents took him out walking and began mapping out the city. Did you know Ottawa Boulevard had a crack at the grate near Miss Orchard’s house? No? Well Felix could recite that through the sheer mentioning of the street’s name. Effectively, over the course of months, the steely determination of a teen wishing for independence bore the fruits of his labours. On several occasions his mother had caught him cutting his food. On double that, his father discovered him ascending and descending the stairs without the constant usage of a cane. From there, the over-protective nature of his parents increased exponentially as they inquired about the frightful behaviour. He explained everything to his parents, how he discovered a method of “sight” different from a regular person. Through the usage of high-precision electricity manipulation over a static field, Felix could successfully navigate without the constant assistance of others. Surprise lit the faces of his parents, another handy detection for his peculiar sight. They spoke against the use of Felix’s abilities, however, a fierce requirement for independence pushed him forward. He sharpened his skills, strengthening them to a point where he could confidently leave the house without an escort. With this development, things went further as Felix turned 17 and was on the precipice of graduation. He began expressing a desire to join the Terror Response Syndicate as a hunter to prove his unique abilities. Alas, his parents’ endless insistence and meddling managed to work the notion down to an informant occupation; not even a full scout. Yet, Felix quieted himself, taking the small victory for what it was. Upon graduation, he began carrying out work gathering information, which proved to be the superior occupation; he chastised himself for not thinking this through more thoroughly! The inconceivable capabilities of his enhanced memory made him a valued informant able to recount facts without hesitation and keep them precise. He could recount every detail, with some exceptions, to scouts and hunters for further investigation. Unfortunately, the job was not without its dangers. On multiple occasions, Felix discovered himself in danger’s grasp and eventually in spring of 2019 after an incident in autumn among other issues, Bruce Andonov was hired as his bodyguard. The partnership was rocky initially, but eventually, the pair began working well together, although, do not appear to have much of a friendship. Only recently has Felix revealed to his parents that he no longer considered himself agendered a long time ago and considered it something done from the overwhelming discomforts featured in puberty. misc - Likes: Learning, intellectual conversations, being read to, dark chocolate, subtle noises, cats, spring, audiobooks, soft blankets, schooling, tea, warmth, winter, true crime reports, flowers, independence, TRS, helping others - Dislikes: Stupidity, loud noises, being sick, depending on others, being cold, coddling, spicy foods, mint, the Assembly, obsessive attention, sightlessness, dogs, big animals, beaches, being fussed over - Fears: Dogs, being completely helpless, being useless - Felix likes winter because it gives him an excuse to curl up beside the fire and drink a warm cup of tea. - His favourite tea is chai. - Due to his abilities, he gets headaches because of loud noises. - Felix has always had a fascination with colours and dreams of one day seeing them. - Felix has a black cat named Suman. Should he be home, chances are he is petting Suman. - He has had several run-ins with a neighbour’s dogs from a young age. The animals have startled him on many occasions, leaving Felix to fear dogs. - Bruce follows Felix everywhere and has developed an identity as his partner. Optic Atrophy: There is a reason behind why exactly Felix is blind, and that reason is optic atrophy. There are numerous causes for optic atrophy, but let’s focus on how it was caused for Felix. Essentially, optic atrophy can be passed down via genes which can result in the optic nerves not forming properly. The optic nerve fibers send impulses from the eyes to the brain, thus this improper formation makes them incapable of doing their job in Felix’s case, rendering him blind. Felix’s main method of coping is both sensing his electrokinesis alongside relying on other people to do menial tasks for him such as reading and writing. Mostly his parents support him, making certain that he have assistance with certain everyday tasks that require eyesight. | roleplayer info ☆ NAME chibi magician ☆ RP EXPERIENCE about 8 years ☆ TIMEZONE central ☆ GENDER female ☆ AGE twenty-one ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS MALAKAI MOORS NATHAN BECKARD DESMOND WILTS KAITLYNN HARRIS FRITZ JACOBS NYLA KORVICH ARLO NORWOOD EMMERSON HALOGAN YVES LEVORA UMBERTO DARIAN VYLAD ZAIDER OCTAVIO KREMLEN BRASTI VANDERFELD PRESTON CLARK ZURIEL MARLINE PERSEPHONE ROSE LACHLAN FRAISER ALIANA LA ROSA CLYDE VELLESE ABEL MCCROFT HARRISON ACASTER WREN CATO RAMAGI VAUGHN MALLORI ISIDORE VYNLAY NOAH SULLIVAN KANO MIKAZUKI JAYDEN MILTON LAURENT MAYTHORN AVERY REEVES GWEN LA’ VARRIE NAOMI BLACKWATER BRAM VAN DIJK AARUSHI CALDWELL XENO MCFALLON ZEKE DURMONT ADAIR “AMON” FELLSPARK QUINN ABRAHAM ORION HOLLINS SLADE ETHIUM RAYLAN FOX WALLACE BOGDAN HAO ZHAO OZIAS ABRAMS RUSSEL NAULTY PEYTON HAYES LIAM BELMONT TADASHI ABBOT CARMINE ANDREASEN MALCOLM MCCAVALLOR SETH MAIER ROY DEMETRIS SCOTT HETTIRE LUCIANO DAHMER MYSON HAMMERSTEIN JUSTIN BOWMAN MORANA MILLER NEVIAH LAINE CYRIELLE BLANCHARD URIEL SAUNDERS MACBETH OKORIE MICAH KING ROXANNA ARC ☆ FACE CLAIM HAPPY TREE FRIENDS, the mole ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO CHIBI MAGICIAN.
