Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

today was the day. she had marked it on the calendar, not only in her room, but also the one on her phone. she was just making sure she didn't forget. how could she, with the list she made of things she needed to bring, or the various options of foods to bring. the only thing she knew was that he liked blueberry muffins and clearly that wasn't going to be very filling.
well perhaps if they ate a few. as delightful as that sounded, it was probably not something orion and bosco would be waiting for. it was a picnic and she wanted to pick something simple and easy that could be eaten cold. as much as she wanted to eat pasta, she knew she couldn't keep it warm for too long. so she decided on sandwiches, fresh strawberries, a bag of chips and a couple bottles of water. of course she also brought small paper plates and napkins. even having it written out she ended up making a few minor adjustments. she packed everything into a backpack and went to get dressed.
despite it being autumn, the weather was nice that day. it was a little cold, but not so much that it would be unbearable. that just meant she would have to wear layers. she wore dark brown pants, white long sleeved top and a dark navy cardigan. once she finished getting ready, she texted orion that she was on her way. fifteen minutes later she was on his door step and knocked on the door. she had forgotten to pack a blanket, but she was sure the park had plenty of picnic tables they could sit at while they ate.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Anxieties rushed through the veins of Orion Hollins as he prepared himself for an agreed-upon meet up. Days ago Orion managed to procure the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Elysia. Yet, in his moment of courage, the young RCMP officer forgot about the ramifications his future self would face. Around the gorgeous, ginger-haired woman, Orion always discovered his nerves tingling in a positive manner. The human was excited, yet, nervous about future events. The emotions were suffocating, yet, the teeming excitement kept him on an emotional high.
Through the manifested agreement, the RCMP officer would not be handed the responsibility to pack the picnic lunch. Yet, he worried about every little thing, from his clothing and the way his hair was styled. It all preyed upon the young man's nerves as he tugged over a blue short-sleeved shirt, black sweats and a white sweater with black shading the bottom half and black drawstrings. After a deep breath, Orion fetched his wallet from the bedside table, shoving it into the pocket of his sweat pants.
Meanwhile, the phone was grabbed from the bedside table, lingering in his fingers. Only moments later had a knock echoed through the household; the fifteen minutes since an earlier text had passed. Easement remained on the edge, Orion remembering how his aunt and mother had already left the home. During the days of his preparations, odd comments were made, his aunt and mother giggling as he prepared. For the time being, the sidecar to his motorcycle was removed for convenience when he took Elysia to Crow Feather Park for their picnic. The pair often teasingly saying 'Are you preparing for Elysia?' with a playful grin.
Quietly, Orion left his room, opening the door to see the ravishing ginger on the threshold. As always, the steel-blue eyes of the RCMP officer wandered, admiring Elysia's appearance. She always looked so pretty...
"Uh, hey! Come in," he offered, moving to the side. "I just need to grab the keys to my bike."
Once she entered the house, Orion would close the door behind her. The nervousness consuming him officially with Elysia's arrival, however, he needed to keep calm. Thus, instead of lingering too long, he flashed her a smile and retreated to his room. From there, he fetched the motorcycle keys from his dresser. A small paw keychain hung from the rings, quietly clattering as he left his room to return to Elysia.

it was going to be such a lovely day. they couldn't of picked a better time for the picnic. the weather report had said nothing but sun. of course there was a chill in the air, but that was usually autumn. it wasn't too bad, with the sun being out and all. she had knocked and after a few seconds the door had opened. she smiled at orion."hey and alrighty take your time."she said as she wiped her feet on the doormat before walking inside.
she adjusted the bag as she waited. going over the mental list of things she had packed. of course she would forget the blanket. not that there was much room for anything but the food in her bag. it would be fine, she tried to reassure herself. it didn't matter where they sat. she just hoped the food was alright. it wasn't anything fancy. simple things that didn't need to be warmed up. though now, she was thinking she should of brought something warm. she could of put it in the thermos.
he had returned with the key's but alone."is bosco no coming?"when they had spoke it was suppose to be the three of them. was he still nervous around her? that was completely fine. those things took time. she smiled before setting her bag down."if he's not i should leave his treats here."she said pulling them out of the bag and handing them to orion. she was starting to get a little nervous. they had been alone before and things were fine. not being able to find something to talk about is what made her nervous. with three people there would be plenty to talk about. she zipped the bag up and placed it back on."well, i'm ready whenever you are."

How long do I have to prove myself for you to finally see that?! I work harder than anybody else, but you just keep dragging me down!

[attr="class","carvetext"]The metal and plastic keys were enveloped in Orion's hand. Fingers folded over, pressing the poky edges of the keys into his palms. His grip was considered more of a vice grip, lines from the keys baring into his palms. Things were shifting, manifesting peculiar feelings for the young man, the type he could not explain. Part of him knew what he wanted, while other portions were exposed to uncertainty at every turn. Yet, as his steps led him to the kitchen, profound happiness stirred in his chest, vibrant and strong.
As he returned to the kitchen, his steel-blue eyes would inevitably notice the ginger-haired beauty again. They flickered over her briefly before making a hasty retreat to the ground. Staring at her became difficult with the passing days as his wishes to interact with Elysia only increased. In his momentary retreat from eye contact, he managed to hear her question in regards to his dog turned shifter, Bosco. These were among the few moments where Orion decided to not bring the young shifter. He believed Bosco needed a break to breathe and adjust to his new form and surroundings again.
"I thought he might need some time to adjust with everything happening, you know?" He mentioned quietly. "I think my mom and Aunt Melody are working on getting all his paperwork sorted still too. They are the ones adopting him on paper since I still live at home and such."
The young man explained the situation. The required paperwork was an obnoxious stack, and at times a small break was needed. A simple picnic to clear some thoughts, then returning to the grindstone.
"I'm ready, but is there anything else you need?" He asked.
Should they be entirely prepared, Orion would gesture for Elysia to follow. Through the kitchen they would venture, entering the attached garage where Orion's red motorcycle stayed stationary. He walked over to it, opening a small console beneath the seat for their items.

she brushed her hair behind her ear as she waited for orion to return. she had asked about bosco. as she hadn't seen him around. perhaps he was sleeping. the last time she had been, or she had visited he had been sleeping on the couch. orion had returned and answered her question. what he was saying made sense. it was a lot for someone to go through and it could be a tad overwhelming."no, that makes sense. it is a lot to go through. thankfully he has you guys to help him through this."she said with a smile before unzipping her bag. she had packed some treats for bosco. she had seen how much he had liked the muffins she had made.
she had decided to make mini ones for him. she handed over a small container that contained the mini blueberry muffins."these are for bosco. he might like to have these while we are gone."she had made plenty and figured bosco would like his own."i know you like them too, i still have another container in the bag."she said with a small laugh.
"yes. i mean no i don't need anything else. i'm ready whenever you are."she said with a smile before she proceeded to zip up the bag and followed him out once she was ready.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Excitement filled his veins similar to electricity, however, the nervous encroaching over Orion's shoulders made it near impossible to think straight. The first time he planned on spending time alone with Elysia, plenty of unexpected occurrences complicated their time together. Discovering Bosco was not a dog, but rather a shifter, had drastically altered the mood from their muffin tasting contest. Rather than create connections with Elysia, he found himself crawling under a bag chasing after his anxious "dog".
Thus, this time around the young man carried pangs of hope that he could have a good conversation with Elysia. He prayed the opportunity to have an enjoyable time with the ginger-haired woman as opposed to one riddled with a series of distracting happenings. He cared about Bosco undoubtedly, however, they both required time apart. The mention of the mini muffins sparked the dark-haired man's attention as Elysia procured a container from the unzipped bag. As she explained, a gentle smile crawled onto Orion's face.
"Thanks, I can leave one or two out for him to have. I know he will be happy with this," the dark-haired man explained. "Glad to hear I get some too."
A soft chuckle punctuated Orion's words, one with notes of anxiety as he tried to make a light-hearted comment. Briefly, he entered the kitchen, taking a pair of mini muffins onto a plate. Slowly, he laced some plastic wrap over them before grabbing a piece of scrap paper where he wrote 'For Bosco'. He left it by the plate before closing the container and putting it away for the time being. With the action done, he arrived at the garage where he opened the console for their picnic items to be safely stored. Once it was open, his eyes landed on Elysia where he flashed her a nervous smile.
"Our stuff can go in here. That way it will be safe," he explained before turning away from the bike. "I'll grab my aunt's helmet, it should be able to fit you."
His steps carried him away from his prized motorcycle to the rows of hanging coats, winter boots and helmets. From there he plucked two, one being his own with a black and red styling and the other being Aunt Melody's. Briskly, he turned on a heel and returned to Elysia where he offered the extra helmet.

she hoped there was no awkward silences between them. she knew exactly why he made her nervous and she just hoped that she could keep the conversation going. though silence wasn't all bad. they got along fairly well. it wasn't too awkward the first time they had bumped into each other. she remembered it like it was just yesterday. she pulled out the muffins she had separated for bosco and handed them to ori. she smiled when he mentioned he was happy to know he would be getting some as well."of course, i remembered you like them too."
she watched as he set the muffins aside and slowly followed behind. she wasn't sure which way they would be taking to head out. whether that be the front or the back door. she made sure not to be too close. she didn't want to get in his way.
she smiled and nodded as she lifted the bag with their food into the compartment."alright, sounds good."could she says she was surprised that they would be taking his bike? she hadn't expected them to walk, but it would be her first time riding a motorcycle. it was a good thing she had decided to wear pants. once he returned she accepted the helmet and thanked him before she placed it on her head. it wouldn't be too difficult, but she just wanted to make sure it was on right."does this look alright?"
[attr="class","carvetext"]Admittedly, the dark-haired RCMP officer was fortunate Elysia decided to wear pants opposed to a summer dress. Alterations could be created to assure safe travel, however, reattaching the sidecar would take time and naturally, he would require a towel to avoid the ginger-haired woman being covered in millions of hairs. The sidecar was always Bosco's spot after all. Due to the consistency of Bosco's travels with him, Orion had never bothered cleaning the sidecar. Then with the recent realization of Bosco being human, there was little time to fixate on the changes.
Plenty of requirements existed for upcoming changes. From assuring Bosco had a suitable bedroom room to the school registrations, it made all the smaller concepts something to worry about later. The motorcycle keys shuffled in Orion's hands as a broad smile touched his face. Thoughts of the potential unfolding of their plans brought a sense of exhilaration to the dark-haired man's body. Slowly, Orion slid the key into the ignition, allowing it to dangle rather than twist it and turn everything on.
The question prompted Orion's gaze to return to her, laying on Elysia with the helmet atop her head. The human smiled at her, providing a quick nod.
"Looks all good," he responded.
Moments later, Orion reached for his helmet, a single leg going over the bike as he adjusted for the helmet to remain tight on his head. Once settled onto the seat, the dark-haired man eased.
"Get on, I'll start it once you're on, and hold on tight," he instructed, checking over his shoulder.
If Elysia got onto the bike, Orion would naturally twist the key and bring up the kickstand. The man fumbled with the garage fob, clicking the button and allowing the door to roll up with the clicking of the chains. Once open, he planned on inching forward to stop briefly, close the door and continue down the busy streets of Lorsette.

never in a million years would she of thought she would be riding a motorcycle. honestly she's been in cars and buses, but never a motorcycle. the thing that came close was her bike. thought it wasn't motorized, it was close enough. the last thing she wanted to do was mess up the helmet by not putting it on correctly. she didn't want it to slip off her head and get damaged.
she smiled and nodded when orion checked her. she waited for further instructions. she was nervous and excited all at once. was that even possible? well, it's what she was feeling and it wasn't just because this would be her first time on a motorcycle either.
she moved slowly towards the bike and as best as she could she hopped on. making sure she wasn't too far back. she was told to hold on, but to what? him? well, maybe now she was getting a little more nervous than excited. she had to move just a little bit closer to wrap her arms around him."is that okay?"she asked before he started the motorcycle. she would probably have to adjust how tightly she should hold on to him once they start moving.
[attr="class","carvetext"]Whispering in the back of his head was the insistence of impressing the ginger-haired woman. There were interesting traits to Elysia's presence that affected Orion entirely. An edge always existed, subtle, but evident the longer he stood within the folds. Nervousness prickled up his spine, but an excitement pounding within his ribcage and against his sternum. The mixture was radical, wild and twisting, winding up like a tornado he found himself lost within. Each moment was blinding, inside his ears, the symphony in his heart echoed as he guided himself on pure instincts alone.
Though perhaps in a complete lapse of judgement, Orion failed to realize the self-condemnation he placed himself in. The test against his heart arrived after he adjusted himself on the seat of the motorcycle. The slender arms of the woman who he invited out latched around him, as he directed. Momentarily his body stiffened, a heat coming over his cheeks as a soft, red tinge painted them. He failed to realize the closeness required for the ride, however, rather than panic himself further, he accomplished several inaudible breaths.
"Yeah, fine. Perfectly fine," the young police officer insisted.
Inside his head, he worked to persuade himself further in being alright. Rather than dwell on it extensively, he accomplished the regular actions, rolling out of the garage to close the door and continue on his way. Into the streetways, he entered, the roar of the motorcycle's engine and the sensation of air around him bringing a familiar comfort. The embrace of the world buzzing around allowed some alleviation. The hum of other vehicles existed as they went through the roads, heading towards the outer reaches of Lorsette.
As they stopped at the first stoplight, Orion glanced around at the vehicles before looking back at Elysia. He wanted her to enjoy the ride and gaze about at the scene without the filters of glass.
"Take a look around, I think you'll enjoy it," he told her, raising his voice so she could hear him.
The stoplight switched to the next light, and with that, Orion continued down the streets of Lorsette. The bustle of life around them was mighty, only thinning out as they reached out the outer edge of Lorsette. Beyond the shorter buildings were bright, colourful leaves. The autumn season always made the Calico Forest a gorgeous place and a worthwhile location for their picnic. Slowly, they went off the paved paths and onto the dirt, where dust kicked behind them, however, in an enchanting dance was the spiralling leaves.
Around them, they fell, being blown in the motorcycle's speed down the dirt path to head to the picnic location. It made the drive a wonderful sight and Orion's head glanced around when the time allowed it.

she felt her arms tighten around orion as soon as the bike started to move. this was her first time and she hoped she was doing everything right. she sighed with relief as orion's reassurance. this would be an exciting experience once she got over her nervousness. she was worried about how close she was to orion, but that seemed to disappear once they started to move. she had something different to focus on.
not that she didn't trust orion's capability. she just hoped she wasn't in the way. she had instinctively closed her eyes when they went on their way. the flew open when they had come to a stop and orion had to her to look around. she could hear the bustle of everything around here. surely they hadn't arrived already. this made her relax a bit more as she glanced around."it's so nice. the leaves changing colors."she said with a smile.
she couldn't wait to see further ahead. where the trees were closer together. seeing the mix of golds and reds. it was really a nice day for them to have gone out. for the remainder of the ride she kept her eyes open, glancing around as she was feeling a bit more comfortable. especially when they had arrived closer to the park. she would have to take pictures.
[attr="class","carvetext"]A fixation on driving became the only method Orion could implement to avoid recognizing the warm sensation across his cheeks. The sensation of Elysia pressing against his back with arms wrapped around his abdomen summoned a sense of nervousness within him. There was something about the young woman that brought a sense of anxiety accompanied by excitement. A unique blend of emotions that gave him happiness as he fancied the peculiar sensations playing about inside his mind. Fortunately, it brought playful into the depth of Orion's mind, a smile crawling over his face despite the nervousness.
Yet, everything blossomed as they entered the calico forest. Through the soft rumble of the motorcycle engine, he heard Elysia's words as she admired the scenery. Her soft words and the easing of her body... He felt the fluttering inside his chest as the bashful smile widened. His hyper-awareness eased slightly, as though responding to the calmness Elysia began feeling with the shift in scenery. He turned down a smaller road, heading towards where Orion knew the scenery was pleasant and the people few, providing them with some privacy.
Trees began parting into a small field, opening into the Wanderer's Meadow. The motorcycle slowed, Orion easing on the break to enter a steady stop.
"We're here. What do you think?" The dark-haired man said.
A smile was evident as Orion unstrapped his helmet and lifted it from his head. The breeze tousled his hair, pleasant and refreshing after the ride to the countryside. The human glanced at his passenger, greeting her with a bright smile as she waited for her response. If Elysia was displeased, Orion was not against going to another location.

once orion had told her to look around. she simply couldn't stop. it took her mind off how nervous she had been, not only about riding the bike, but also at how close she was to orion. though it wasn't that she disliked it. she just wasn't used to being this close to orion. even at school they rarely talked, even so that didn't stop elysia from having a crush on him. though look at them now. not only had they been talking, but they were going to have a picnic.
what first felt like a ride that was going to take forever, it soon seemed like it was rather short. though she had the scenery to thank for the distraction. once they had come to a complete stop, she slowly dropped her arms. she looked around as she took off the helmet and nodded."it's lovely."she told him with a smile."where should we set up?"she asked as she spotted open areas."what about under the tree?"she suggested as she pointed in that direction.

[attr="class","carvetext"]The nervousness crawled over his shoulders and bore into them as Orion told Elysia to gaze around at her surroundings. He wanted her to enjoy the entirety of the scene, from the light drift of the wind to the gorgeous expanse of grass and flowers lit by sunlight. Impressing her was significant, however, Orion remained a little uncertain about the exact reasons behind the necessity. There was something about witnessing her smiling and happy that made his heart flutter. While he asked her out, the human was a little uncertain where exactly it would lead or the reality of his emotions.
Nonetheless, he possessed vague notions as to the desire to impress Elysia. Thus, when her words reached his ears, a soft smile crawled over his lips without hesitation. The mention of set-up brought a soft 'uh' to breach his lips. After a few moments, he shrugged at her.
"Sure, I'll go with your idea. I didn't think much about set up when I brought you out here," the dark-haired man explained.
He hit the jack, allowing the motorcycle to lean on it before slowly getting off. The strap of the helmet was released with a click as Orion pulled it off and settled it on one of the handles. He opened the box, revealing the supplies carefully hidden away safely inside. Everything was grabbed, gently to avoid jostling as he approached Elysia.
"I have everything. Lead the way," Orion informed her.
There was a cheerfulness to his voice with an edging nervousness festering beneath it. The dark-haired man wished to impress the gorgeous ginger-haired woman. His steel-grey eyes flitted over her, noticing the gentle way the breeze picked at her hair, the breathtaking light in her eyes... To onlookers, it would be obvious the officer was smitten with the familiar he knew.

being out here and away from the large crowds of people was nice. orion was kind enough to let her pick the place. it was nice out and a little shade wouldn't hurt. so she figured setting up under the near by tree would be a good place. of course if he didn't want to be in the shade that was fine with her. she smiled and nodded when he agreed."i'm sure anywhere you would of picked would of been fine."
once orion got off the bike elysia followed suit. she wasn't sure what to do with the helmet once it had been removed. should she hold on to it or leave it on the bike? she watched as orion left his on the bike and she did the same. leaving it on the seat, but making sure it was centered so it didn't fall off.
she was more than ready to help carry things, but orion beat her to it. she nodded with a smile as she started to walk towards the tree."oh here, let me get the blanket so i can set it."she said as she walked over to him to pull it out of the basket. she didn't want him to carry everything and this way she could set the blanket up quickly.
once she secured the blanket she continued walking until she found the perfect spot of shade and sunlight. well considering how much leaves the trees had. it wasn't too dark or too bright. it was a little chilly, but the sun was out and made it warm enough to enjoy the outdoors."here is good."she said as she unfolded the blanket and laid it down. she kneeled and made sure everything was nice and neat."go ahead and have a seat."she said before taking a seat herself. she had thought she was done feeling nervous. it was just a picnic with orion. not that she had many picnics with him to begin with.
