Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Jessie was not in a good mood. She had been trying very hard to not cause any trouble at the Cafe, but then these little sprites, or pixies, or whatever they were decided to come and pester her. They were of course full of mischief, and caused her no small difficulty as they plied for her attention. Tipping over tea and coffee mugs, and flipping skirts of all things.
It didn't help that the normal humans who were targeted couldn't really see the creatures due to their glamour spells. Her boss, who was nice enough told her to take a break and see about dispersing the little crowd of magical creatures that had descended upon her.
So she set out to find a place for the little creatures to be able to absorb the power that leaked out of her like some kind of ambrosia leaked out of a tree. And the little shop, Forget Me Not, seemed a good option.
As she entered a small group of pixies flew into her hair, relishing in the warm glow of her power.
It was the pain in her head, the throbbing, and the odd sensation of not wanting to be at work. But, this was her only place where she can belong. Where the flowers dare not mock her, but to welcome her as a friend.
The fallen angel let the water from the canister sprinkle into some of the flowers. They all needed to be looked after. Couples come and go from the shop, asking for the usual requirements for a wonderful Christmas mood. And all she could do was nod and smile. She sent all of her part timers and full timers home for the whole four days of Christmas break -- they deserved it after all; the manager was always lost in thought at the back room.
It wasn't too long until a small robin came into the shop, Imogen looked up and nodded with a smile. "Welcome to Forget Me Not, please wait a moment, I just need to tend to these flowers, if you'd like, just wait a bit over at the register, I think I have some magazines you can flip through."
Watering whatever was left of the flowers and other glorious plants, she placed the heavy canister down and walked over. "I'm sorry for the wait, what can I help you with miss?"
Jessie wasnt even phased by the bandages, she had seen much stranger things. When you lived your life, acting as a beacon to all things mystical and mythical, you saw things.
"I'm sorry, i just need a soothing place to sit while these, er, friends of mine recharge a bit. It...it would be good for the flowers too, I sort of radiate Earth Magic, its the best fertilizer, and can soothe most ailments, for plants and other animals alike."
Indeed her magic, while too potent for use in things like potions (that had been a disaster, the tutor had nearly lost her face when what was supposed to be a simple blood warming potion to fend of hypothermia had exploded into a boiling searing gel) just being near her was soothing for most creatures.
She was supposed to find a Charms Tutor at some point, but her parents were unwilling to risk it, until they found someone who was...capable of protecting themselves.
"I'm Jessibelle, but you can call me Jessie, or Jess if you like. I, um, work at the cafe, across the plaza, Little Big Rock."
She offered her hand, for a handshake. It was certainly possible her energy, being Earth based, and not light or darkness based, would heal any minor health issues the Fallen Angel had. Of course, Jessie could tell the lady wasnt human, but she wasnt 100% sure what she actually was.
A witch I see, odd to find them here -- or rather, odd to see that they don't have a familiar of their own. Her eyes follow the young girl cautiously, perhaps this day wouldn't be such a bad start after all. Her headache was just a phantom pain she felt and most of the time -- most of the time the pain would be gone before she could think about anything else, like eating cheesecake or something.
"Your friends are more than welcome to rest near the cacti, it's quite warm there," she points with her non-bandaged arm towards the corner of the store, a bit further beyond the register where the cacti are. "The weather has gotten cold, but they should be able to stay the same temperature."
She tilted her head a bit, arms then crossed as she looked at the extended hand. "That's a wonderful name, welcome to Forget Me Not, I'm Imogen," she extended her non-bandaged arm -- the contact of their hands touching sent a shiver down her spine. I see, no wonder she has them around.
A firm shake before taking her hand back, crossing them once more across her chest. "If I may ask, what is a witch doing here? Let alone one that has yet to master simple spells."
"Um, I started working at Little Big Rock Cafe, i have to pay back the medical costs for my potions tutor. I put too much power into a warming potion and it...exploded..."
She was actually tremendously embarrassed by this, because it made her useless. Potions were one of the most useful of magics.
She brightened for a moment, there was ONE thing she could do, that others couldn't! Fumbling in her bag she pulled out a small carved wooden cat, with meticulous detail, you could almost see every individual hair.
"Watch this."
She closed her eyes and willed the raw energy into the wood, pushing her will for the wood to move into it. With a sound like creaking floorboards, in miniature, the cat uncurled, stretched, and sat up, looking about.
"I gave it the order to act like a cat...i can only issue one order to something this small. And the spell doesnt last long. I bet if i could do some research on Golems, i could make a simple golem that lasts a long time, but the longest i've been able to do so far was a day, with a stone cat this size."
It's not odd to find someone paying off medical costs for an accident. Even beginners have the worse of luck on their side. "I see, well, try not to blow up my store then, hm?"
It was a small tease, not big enough to cause any trouble she presumed. She watched the girl fish out a carving of a cat, an before she could take the moment to think twice about it, it came to life.
Imogen remained silent before going back to her thoughts. Hm, she hasn't answered my question, but, I guess her goal is to find some plants to help her with her studies. "I hope the pay is enough considering it's part time."
Let's try this again. "As much as I like to chat, Jessibelle, but, again, is there something I can help you with? Are you here for your studies or something else?"
"The pixies were causing trouble. They like to warm up, or charge, or whatever it is by being near me, but its too cold outside for them to do that, and i...i find it relaxing to be near flowers and plants. I was hoping to just quietly...sit in a corner...and take a few minutes to...um let them do their thing so i can go back to work without trouble?"
With each pause she became more and more unsure sounding, her voice getting quieter. Now that she had shown off her new found gift of making golems, her normal social anxiety was beginning to kick in.
One of the pixies, who was a regular visitor to the girl zipped up in front of the fallen angel.
"Jessie is very shy, but she helps us restore our energy. We didnt mean much with the pranks, but it was cold and we needed her to go some place warm. She wont cause any trouble. The plants here are soaking up her magic. It helps to prevent issues like explosions. Shes much better off putting her magic into solid things."
It was a pleasant sight to see a young girl blush -- in fact, it made her remember her. The one who was too shy to speak an even then, she was there when she fell. No time to dwell on the past, what's done is done...
A pixie flew in between the two, catching Imogen a bit off guard. A small smile came to her lips before disappearing. It's truly nice to see small creatures just doing whatever they want without much care.
"Oh my, I did not mean to cause a misunderstanding young one, she's more than free to stay here for as long as she likes, I could use the company since I sent my staff home."
She raised her hand to the back of her neck, sighing softly. "Would you like some tea? I'll bring in a chair for you to sit on, so it won't be awkward to stand."
Imogen dismissed herself to get the chairs and prepare the tea, there was a special place she liked in the store and since one comes into the shop at this time (thirty minutes before close), she thought, perhaps this would be the time for her to finish all of her work tomorrow. Christmas was soon to come.
Turning a bit on her heel she motioned Jessie to follow. "I'll take you to a spot I like to relax."
Jessie nodded at the mention of tea, and when asked, followed along willingly to the special area.
The red headed girl glanced about at the various flowers and stopped to look at one in particular.
"Where did you get this? I'm pretty sure this Silver Dragon Lotus, but ive never seen one in person before..."
The tall silver stalked flower was one of those that only sprouted from a seed in areas of high magic concentration, leyline intersections, the graves of ancient magical beings, places like that. Once sprouted, growing, and then flowering the plant was easily done, even if transplanted.
Silver Dragon Lotuses were not truly a lotus, they were named after the location of the first one ever seen, the Village of Lotuses in China. They were actually a member of the same family that produced Nightshade and Wolfsbane, but was not poisonous.
"I see you have a good eye," she nodded with a smile. Taking a chair nearby she picked it up carefully making sure she doesn't destroy any plants or vase along the way.
This area of the store meant a lot to her. After all, this was where she decided this empty lot needed to be filled with life -- filled with flowers as the winter days would come in.
Surrounded by greenery, the theme for this small corner varies on the season. And as the winter comes by the storm, she turned it into a moonlight garden -- or at least have the flowers necessary to build one.
Not too long, she placed the chair down and nodded. "Those were given to me by an old friend, though, now that I think about it, I wonder if he is still alive to this day."
When she thought of said old friend, she remembered how small of a lifespan all humans have. Soon, the uncanny will live longer than the ones who were meant to rule this earth. "Go ahead and sit, I'll have the tea ready in just a few moments."
Without further delay on her steps, Imogen made her way to her office, an electric kettle and some bags of tea. She popped her head out just a bit. "What kind of tea do you like? I have a wide variety."
Jessie took the seat, glancing around at the flowers. When asked about what tea she would like she paused only a moment to consider.
"Do you have any black tea with Teddy Bear Mint?"
A large Salamander crawled from under a shelf and climbed up her leg onto her shoulder. It nuzzled her gently and settled in. This was normal for Jessie, in wasn't unusual for her to wake up covered in magical creatures.
She stroked the Salamander's chin, smiling softly. Around her the flowers seemed to respond to the power emanating from her, perking, turning more vibrant slowly.
