Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The wind howled wildly outside, the blizzard arriving as expected, but creating power outages across Lorsette alongside a variety of other unexpected problems for the Terror Response Syndicate to handle. There were beliefs of Assembly of Phantoms involvement in the recent affairs plaguing the city, particularly the recent casualties which managed to get reported. Evidently, there was something suspicious happening in Lorsette during the blizzard. There was evidence, the monstrously sized footprints in the snow alongside strange behaviours occurring in the dangerous winter weather. Thus, despite his species being ill-suited for extreme weather conditions, Fritz was requested to come into work. The circumstances around the mission resulted in a sensibility to calling for the assistance of a TRS elite hunter, and one who has been around since the beginning nonetheless. The primary reason for his lack of promotion was the numerous transfers he underwent because of his endless wanderlust before finally settling in Lorsette. Minutes were taken working towards properly dressing, the treacherous journey being unnecessary considering Fritz decided to remain at headquarters after an extensive day of work. There was a safety from the frigid temperatures due to the efforts of various TRS members. [break][break] There was always time spared by the reaper to assure he could survive the temperatures, Fritz being well-aware of the risk factors which arrived with recklessness towards proper dressing; especially in the dangerous 70 mph winds. The special edition jackets, ski pants, gloves and various other cold weather necessities were handed out, the ancient warrior tugging the hefty pieces of clothing. Beneath his clothes was a trio of temperature regulation charms, the blue-haired man thankful he brought one of his own for extra protection against the elements. A thick TRS mandated jacket hugged his shoulders, the dark navies and black colours making the red accents contrast against them. Across the back was the regular impact font, stating TRS alongside the HUNTING DIVISION as expected. On the front displayed the unit and nametag worn at all times by affiliates of the TRS. Carefully, Fritz adjusted the belt which held the scabbard of his broadsword, tightening it around the outside of the thick clothing. The hefty weapon would arrive with the consequence of additional weight, but Fritz knew the sword was a necessity. [break][break] Practicing swordsmanship for centuries resulted in the reaper refusing to leave the weapon behind, the sword being the single component which made him useful. While he lacked the physical enhancements to allow for more extreme blows, Fritz managed to make up for it with skillfulness and quick thinking. A harsh training regiment assisted in making the ancient warrior useful despite his lacking in useful magic; especially considering necromancy required dead bodies to be in the area. Hastily, the reaper adjusted the layers beneath as needed, creating comfort and flexibility for movement since without it, he knew his death would rapidly approach for a second time. Once prepared to face the frigid temperatures, the ancient warrior exited the changing room, heading towards the assigned meeting area for hunters of the second unit. He moved quickly, strides long as he tugged the toque tighter onto his head and brought the hood up, tugging on the drawstrings and adjusting them as needed. [break][break] There were plenty of people being escorted around the TRS headquarters only a mere few minutes after the reaper finished preparing himself for battle. A few were TRS affiliates while others were citizens dressed in thick clothing, those who likely risked their safety in hopes of reaching the headquarters or perhaps those who arrived prior to the blizzard. Gradually, Fritz weaved his way through, most avoiding the tall man with a sword buckled around his waist. As the ancient warrior began approaching the briefing location, he remained uncertain on whether or not he wished to see Vashti on the other side of the door. While the brunette was a graduated hunter, she could be horribly reckless, and considering the dangerous circumstances of the mission, he hoped she was safely at home or perhaps resting somewhere else in the facility. The reaper cared immensely about his former apprentice and closest friend, thus he wished she would remain somewhere safe rather than involved in unit two's mission. Eventually, he arrived at the briefing room, where information would be provided in regards to the mission. [break][break] Upon entry, Fritz surveyed the room, however, the thick clothing the hunters were expected to wear made it impossible for the reaper to notice Vashti should she have been inside the room. A sigh escaped the elite hunter's lips in response as he moved to the far corner, leaning against the wall to observe the crowd, praying he would not witness the brunette's face amidst the hunters working to defend Lorsette on this frigid day.

[attr="class","youfallbot2"]WHO WANTS TO BE A HERO
Quan hadn't slept very well the night before, being reminded that his purpose in life was to assist with helping others find their soulmates. He had arrived home from a long trip yesterday night and it had thrown off his whole sleeping schedule. He had wandered around the house to see that nobody was home, so he showered and changed into fresh clothes before putting his stuff away. The weather, it looked like it was going to be so cold outside. He couldn't help but feel curious on how Kaitlynn was doing, every once in a while he would drop in on her. A small smile tugged at his lips as he had finally decided on what he'd do for the day. He went into his closet to grab a sweater before slipping a jacket on over it. He then grabbed his cell phone, keys and wallet and made his way out of his bedroom, down the hall, before opening the front door to walk outside, making sure to close and lock it behind himself. Should I text her or surprise her? He thought to himself, having moments of doing both. It gave him great joy, when ever he managed to surprise her.
He wandered down the street, walking towards TRS HQ because he didn't feel like calling up a taxi. As soon as he arrived outside the doors, he reached out to pull them open before slipping inside. TRS agents were wandering around the halls, he headed down the halls, attempting to find his sister. A TRS agent happened to notice him and asked if they could be of assistance of which case, they suggested following them to the assigned meeting area because Kaitlynn might be in there and if she wasn't, she might arrive there. It seemed like a good place to start so he followed them in there, pausing to move near the back so that he wouldn't be in the way of the TRS agents as they prepared to work. Maybe I should text her. He thought to himself but chose against it at this time. There were so many people here, standing right next to their soulmates. Oh how he could go on a field day, matching them all up.
There was a particular atmosphere in the room of TRS hunters preparing for the upcoming missions. Quiet 'I love yous' shared between some while others displayed the symptoms of romantic tension. Friendly conversation filled the room, reaching Fritz's ears as he stood alone. The reaper was often described as anti-social by his peers, however, he would converse should the timing be favourable or somebody started the conversation with him. Alas, in circumstances where he felt a serious air was required, people found him quiet and expression-lacking.
[break][break]
To worsen matters, Fritz's outwards demeanour created an aloof interpretation from most. The blue-haired man social grace, instead focusing on missions without a thought being attributed to the social regularities of working. Seconds passed as Fritz watched and listened before removing his focus from the talking mission goers. With crossed arms, the ancient warrior remained secluded in his lonesome corner. Socializing was unlikely, the only idea motivating him to listen and stay alert in his current surroundings being the possibility of Vashti's presence.
[break][break]
His close friend was a reckless woman, somebody who plunged deep into the waters of dangerous decision-making. While Fritz could hardly ridicule her demeanour considering his impulsive choices. In dire circumstances, Fritz was somebody willing to sacrifice his life should it result in others being given the opportunity to live. As he scanned the entirety of the room, the soft creak of the door opening reached the hunter's ears. Quickly, his blue eyes flitted towards the door, watching it open. A man crossed through the threshold, somebody Fritz was not familiar with.
[break][break]
The man was short, having messy, dark brown hair and darker complexion. Among the most notable traits was his lack of a TRS uniform which were handed out for the day's task. A brow rose as Fritz watched him, wondering why a man without a uniform was in the mission room. The reaper pushed off from the wall, striding forward to intercept the man with intentions of inquiring on his presence.
[break][break]
"Excuse me," he began as he approached. "Where is your uniform?"
[break][break]
Without the proper equipment, members of the Terror Response Syndicate could have troubles recognizing the man. As somebody among the elites, Fritz considered it his duty to assure everybody was prepared for the mission. This included questioning somebody who entered without the proper attire.

[attr="class","youfallbot2"]WHO WANTS TO BE A HERO
Quan found himself looking around the room. There were so many people here in their TRS uniforms but Kaitlynn wasn't among them. Oh come on.... He thought to himself, pouting slightly as he debated on staying to wait for her or leaving to wander the halls in search of his darling younger sister. He was pulled from his thoughts when Fritz had wandered towards him asking him where his uniform was. Now that... was a funny story. He thought to himself, slowly raising a hand to the back of his head before rubbing his neck nervously as he debated on how he would go about answering Fritz's question. "I don't have one." He answered before adding, "You see, my sister works here and I was trying to find her." He answered before adding, "It looks like she isn't in here..." He chuckled more before slowly lowering his hand. There were a few people in here that happened to be near their soulmates and he couldn't help but smile as he felt pleased they were around their soulmates even though it meant he might have work here in a bit. Fritz wasn't near his soulmate, in fact his soulmate wasn't anywhere in sight, perhaps he should give him a helping hand?
Responsibilities weighed onto Fritz's shoulders as he approached the dark-haired man, patiently awaiting his reason for lacking a uniform. Everybody else was dressed adequately, each taking the jackets handed out for the mission ahead of them. Arms were crossed as he awaited the man's answer, expecting an ill-prepared or inexperienced hunter. Sapphire eyes locked on the man, hard as he gazed at the stranger. The blue-haired hunter waited, remaining stern as he expected being handed the responsibility of ushering this assumed hunter somewhere to prepare for the frigid conditions.
[break][break]
The brunette opened with stating he did not have one. Initially, Fritz believed the man was a foolish hunter, however, he was proven wrong shortly afterwards. The man began explaining the situation, which provided the required context for the situation. The explanation provided satisfied the elite hunter as he understood the circumstance for the man's presence in the discussion room. He was the brother of a Terror Response Syndicate member, although, Fritz noticed how he looked similar to the sergeant of unit two, his unit.
[break][break]
"What's your name anyways?" Fritz asked. "And her's. Maybe I can help you."
[break][break]
The mission would begin, the TRS member potentially be involved. Therefore, the ancient warrior believed the woman the brunette was searching for was nearby. It was a sensible guess in the reaper's mind.

Quan noticed Fritz gaze go from hardened to appear satisfied to his answer, having had his arms crossed while awaiting the answer he would chose to give to Fritz. Yeah, I think I'll help him with his soulmate situation. He thought to himself before being asked what his name was. "My name is Quan Harris and my sister is Kaitlynn Harris." He answered, before adding, "Perhaps I can help you too, it can be a win win." He answered somewhat in a joking manner as he awaited to hear how Fritz planned on helping him find Kaitlynn. "What is your name?" He asked in return, figuring it would be best to know so that when he found Fritz's soulmate, introductions would prove easier.
People getting lost inside the Terror Response Syndicate was not an uncommon situation. The headquarters in Lorsette was a large location, making it difficult to navigate. When people entered the building for the first time, getting lost was easily accomplished if someone was not careful. These circumstances failed to bother Fritz, thus he prepared to start assisting the young man with his situation. The elite hunter enjoyed being helpful despite his expression failing to display his entertainment in those circumstances.
[break][break]
Patience was given as Fritz waited to retrieve the names. The surname Harris sparked a slight surprise in the reaper's bright, sapphire eyes. The surname Harris was connected to the unit two sergeant, which was confirmed when the first name Kaitlynn was mentioned. Kaitlynn Harris was the angelic sergeant, a woman dubbed Electra due to her usage of electricity manipulation. The ancient warrior nodded at Quan, his mind pondering where Kaitlynn could potentially be. The sergeant of unit two was bound to show up since members of her unit were here.
[break][break]
Confusion played across Fritz's countenance when the man mentioned helping him and wished for a name. The blue-haired man could hardly guess what he needed help with.
[break][break]
"Fritz. Also, I don't need help," he explained.
[break][break]
There was nothing he required help with, therefore, he declined the idea. He was a man with plans on working through the blizzard. The only thing he truly required assistance with was assuring he would retain warmth.

Quan had mentioned helping Fritz out too, amused when Fritz gave him a confused look before answering with his name in return. "Now see, I can also help you with that too because I disagree about you needing assistance as well." He started up, smile on his face as he looked back towards Fritz. It wouldn't be the first time he wandered up to complete strangers to assist with their soulmate connection and it wouldn't be the last time either. "You see, I've noticed your the only one in this room." He started, failing to mention the meaning behind his comment, having been referring to Fritz's soulmate not being in the room with them. "Shall we?" He asked, hinting for them to leave this room behind them, easily being mistaken as searching for Kaitlynn.
Perplexed by the man's peculiar words, Fritz watched him with a raised brow evident on his face. The insistence of him requiring help was strange considering he was perfectly fine in the present situation. He failed to comprehend why this stranger appeared keen on stating he required help. In the ancient warrior's mind, it was obvious he never requested assistance or required it in this situation. They were stationed inside the meeting room to discuss their plans, thus safety existed until they ventured into the frozen temperatures beyond.
[break][break]
The reaper remained motionless, not necessarily intrigued, but more wishing to dispose of the confusion in his mind. While he awaited for the information to cease his confusion, the man foolishly made it worse. When stated Fritz was inside the room alone, his brows only raised higher. The elite hunter glanced around, seeing his fellow hunters chattering away before his eyes flitted back to the dark-haired man. Maybe this man accidentally hit his head on something before he entered the TRS headquarters...
[break][break]
"Did you hit your head by any chance?" The blue-haired man inquired. "Because I am not alone in here... My allies surround us."
[break][break]
The elite hunter was concerned about the man's condition, his sapphire eyes already searching for injuries on the stranger. Perhaps he should start searching for Kaitlynn quickly in hopes of getting this situation sorted out. When the man said 'shall we', Fritz assumed he meant searching for his sister, thus he nodded and left the room. They could check the surrounding area before returning back to see if Kaitlynn was preparing everyone to head out. It was a simple strategy and would hopefully result in the sergeant being found quickly.

Quan mentioned Fritz being alone in the room, when Fritz looked around he couldn't help but chuckle before being asked a question to which he paused his chuckling to answer it. "No I didn't. I'm perfectly fine." He answered before yes, "Yes you're right, your allies do surround us." He answered before asking shall we, to which it seemed Fritz was okay with them searching after all. Of course finding Kaitlynn would be important but first, Fritz needed help finding his soulmate and he planned on finding that person for them. He followed Fritz around the building, looking left and right, no sight of Fritz's soulmate, or his sister for that matter, which meant more time with Fritz in the process. "Sooo... who do you like?" He asked, curious, figuring it might give him a clue on a possible soulmate, though it didn't always work, people tended to have their soulmate standing right in front of them without even realizing it. "Or hobbies... that works too." He added, not wishing to make Fritz possibly uncomfortable with his sudden questions.
The brunette Fritz discovered was downright bizarre with the words he stated and conclusions he arrived at. Alone inside TRS headquarters was a preposterous notion, especially considering the amount of individuals called back to assist with the blizzard. Anybody capable of returning to headquarters or already there for the shift ahead walked the halls of the TRS headquarters. Therefore, the man's "observations" were confusing and nonsensical to the ancient warrior who arrived to carry out his duties.
[break][break]
A cryptic answer was provided by Quan, the type frequently witnessed in shows where a hero would be required to solve some riddle which helps them better themselves. A soft sigh escaped Fritz's lips as they exited the room in, to his assumption, a search for Sergeant Kaitlynn Harris. They began moving through the halls, the reaper's sapphire eyes analyzing the corridors around them. Finding the brown-haired TRS sergeant was crucial. Once completed, Fritz could return to the discussion room and prepare to handle the frigid conditions.
[break][break]
The brunette's questions in regards to who he liked resulted in Fritz's eyes narrowing. Was this man provided a task from Vashti? The long-haired huntress was infatuated with him and constantly insisted towards the notion of them being soulmates. He listened as the man proceeded, soon shifting gears to inquire about hobbies.
[break][break]
"Did Vashti put you up to this?" Fritz asked with an annoyed sigh.
[break][break]
If Vashti was the culprit, Fritz planned on texting her and informing her whatever idea she possessed fail. The possibility existed considering her pushiness about them being soulmates, therefore, he waited for the answer.

Quan followed Fritz out of the room and began moving through the halls. He was searching for Fritz's soulmate, knowing his sister could be found a little bit later. He had asked his questions, surprised when Fritz had asked him one in return. "Vashti?" He asked, clearly surprised that Fritz had bothered asking him such a question. "Is she a person you like?" He repeated the question right back at Fritz before adding, "We shall find her and then I'll know for sure if you two are soulmates or not." He answered, walker faster ahead, unaware of which halls he was wandering around because he wasn't familiar with this place. Does he already know who his soulmate is? Looks like he needs more help than I had once thought. He thought to himself, determined to find Vashti, the worst to happen at this point is finding her only to discover that she wasn't Fritz's soulmate, seeing as his purpose in life was to find soulmates and help them get together and it would mean his search would have to continue before having the chance of finding his beloved younger sister.
Confusion afflicted Fritz the longer he spent in Quan's company. The dark-haired man was peculiar, proven by the words stated and his questions. Each inquiry suggested the desire to find a potential date or gather information for Vashti. Alas, the man's tendency to make strange "observations" made Fritz wonder what happened to the brunette. Slowly, he followed behind Quan, uncertain about the man's intention. They were supposed to be searching for Kaitlynn, but the man appeared to have other intentions...
[break][break]
As they moved through headquarters, Fritz heard the man inquire about the name. The ancient warrior offered him a nod when it arrived at the name, however, the man continued. When the mysterious man mentioned the brunette being the person he liked, Fritz's eyes locked onto Quan. The reaper stopped moving completely, arms crossing to display his discontentment with this man's accusations. He did not like Vashti in the implied manner and he was more determined to believe the dark-haired man was enlisted by the huntress.
[break][break]
"Listen, I am not looking for someone that way, so drop it," Fritz informed, annoyance dripping from his voice.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, his response fell upon deaf ears as the man spoke about soulmates and turned to leave. An irritated groan escaped the reaper's mouth as he hurried after Quan. This strange man hardly gave a care to what he wanted.
[break][break]
"I am not interested in her that way, so stop," Fritz insisted.
[break][break]
He began following behind the dark-haired man. The ancient warrior followed closely behind Quan, eyes surveying the area in hopes of finding Kaitlynn before her brother could cause more trouble. Either that, or persuade the peculiar man to cease an endeavour which would be fruitless.

Quan had noticed Fritz nod in answer to him repeating the name that had been given to him. The search continued on as he attempted to gather information, in hopes that this Vashti was in fact Fritz's soulmate because if that was the case then he would have an easier time convincing Fritz of the matter, if not, the search would just have to continue on until they found Fritz's soulmate or his sister, though he hoped for the first since as much as he loved his sister, he took pride in his job and refused to give up no matter what. He thought his question was innocent enough but Fritz seemed to act otherwise when he gave his answer right back at him. "Ah, I see. So even if there was the chance of you being soulmates there is work to be done here." He answered, refusing to believe this a hopeless cause just because somebody wasn't ready to take the next step. It wasn't his business to force relationships, only encourage them, which required both people to participate else it would be all in vein.
He made his next comment only for Fritz to counter, "I don't see the harm in at least finding out... It isn't like your being forced in a relationship or anything like that." He answered, seeing no problem in invading on Fritz's love affairs. "I do warn you though, my job is to specialize in finding soulmates, so the least I could do is help you out for offering to help me find my dear sister." He answered, viewing this as a win win, he continued walking down the hall, had it not been for Fritz, surely he'd have been lost by now. "Which way?" He asked, slightly confused on which direction to head down since they had the choice of left or right.
Comprehension was limited when people insisted Fritz required a soulmate or lover of some kind. Everybody needed different things for survival, and the ancient warrior believed he was better alone. The torment that plagued his heart years ago in the form of thick smoke and hot flames. Those he lost continued to cling to his heart, reminding him of the sorrows alongside the sparked determination to protect others. Alas, the insistence was persisted by a majority of individuals, including Vashti and her dark-haired friend he was trying to assist.
[break][break]
Frustration made itself prevalent on Fritz’s expression as they moved through headquarters. The mysterious man’s insistent nature was bothersome to the reaper who wished to operate alone. The ancient warrior wore narrowed eyes as he followed Quan, hands balled in annoyed fists. He would not harm the dark-haired man, however, he was irritated by his “requirement” to discover his soulmate. The blue-haired man operated under the belief his soulmate long perished and he would never receive the opportunity to meet them.
[break][break]
The ancient warrior accomplished an eye roll at Quan's theoretical situation. This was getting ridiculous!
[break][break]
"I have my money on my soulmate being dead," Fritz grumbled.
[break][break]
An annoyed sigh escaped the elite hunter's lips as he stomped forward, staying close to Quan. Why did he have to stick out in the room?! It appeared Quan was determined to discover his soulmate and while he stated a relationship was not required, however, he did not believe him. A groan escaped his lips when the dark-haired man mentioned being specialized in relationships and soulmates. Another eye roll proceeded, Fritz glancing away as they walked through the corridors. There was a disinterested expression stuck on the ancient warrior's countenance as they ventured.
[break][break]
Soulmates were something Fritz never considered properly. The emotions formed from the traumatic experiences of his past manifested an unwillingness to believe he would receive such a gift. Eventually, they met a crossroads, a question leaving Quan as they arrived. The ancient warrior glanced down both paths, one leading to the scout's quarters and the other to where the locker rooms were located. A gesture was provided to follow as Fritz led them towards the locker rooms where the sergeant could potentially be getting ready.
