Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

Quan flinched when Fritz grumbled about having his money on his soulmate being dead. Though it was possible, he hoped that wasn't the case. "That is a horrible thing to say, even if there is the chance of them being dead, you shouldn't say such things. It almost sounds like you don't want that connection." He answered, glancing over before adding, "Which would be unfair to your soulmate, should they be in fact alive." He continued walking down the halls with Fritz, as to avoid getting lost in here. Though Kaitlynn worked here, he didn't feel comfortable wandering around alone, the fear of getting lost had crossed his mind. When they met crossroads, he asked which way, to which Fritz glanced down both paths before gesturing for him to follow towards the location of the lockers. "Is there a reason why you would say such horrible things?" He asked, breaking the silence that seemed to form between them. He was confused on Fritz's determination in staying alone.
There were very few people who managed to be found by him that gave a hard time on finding their soulmate, normally it was because they believed they didn't deserve it, to which he would find out their reasons, but it was never good enough to him. He would even go as far as to guilt trip them in how their reasoning would be unfair to their soulmate. To his greatest pleasure, when ever they found the soulmate, the person he was assisting always seemed pleased with the results, making him feel happy that this was his role in this world. "You are lucky." He added, once more trying to build up conversation. "That you get a chance to have a soulmate I mean, assuming they are in fact still alive." He added, finding it difficult to accept a no, when he himself had to suffer without getting to be with his.
Torment followed Fritz through the years, resulting in a more negativistic mindset in response to the possibility of a soulmate. The gruesome circumstances of his death lived in the scars carved into his flesh. The world gained delight from torturing him, hence why would he receive a blessing? The purpose he placed upon his shoulders was everything he had. Defending others became the reason he marched on since people required it. Thus, Quan’s flinched failed to make Fritz realize the horrible nature in his words.
[break][break]
The truth was a painful revelation, therefore, Fritz was willing to bluntly state his words. Although, the shocking nature of his words resulted in his companion's displeasure. Only mere moments later was the ancient warrior informed how horrible the words he stated were. A soft sigh escaped the blue-haired man's lips as he rolled his eyes at Quan. He shrugged at the man determined to discover his soulmate. The brunette was among the few who claimed to be his soulmate, however, Fritz refused to believe that.
[break][break]
"You don't know what my life has been like," Fritz mumbled in response.
[break][break]
The response was kept vague, the reaper leading Quan towards the locker room. Soulmates were reserved for other people in Fritz's opinion. People possessed soulmates, however, the blue-haired man believed he would never receive something immensely pleasant. Closer, they got to locker room, a few hunters exiting the rooms, fully clothed in their warm clothing. He listened as he was informed how lucky he was... Fortune only existed in small spurts through his tormented life.
[break][break]
"As said, I doubt it. So you don't have to look. Go look for your own," Fritz suggested.
[break][break]
When they reached the end of the hallway where doors to separate gender wings existed, Fritz drew closer to the wall. He leaned against it, sapphire eyes waiting to see the familiar frame of Sergeant Harris. He hoped Quan would adhere to his suggestion and instead would begin searching for his soulmate.

Quan noticed Fritz roll his eyes at him, having glanced in his direction but had chosen to ignore it. It wasn't like he had easy clients, there were plenty that were willing to give him a hard time over such things. He was determined to find Fritz's soulmate, should they be alive currently. He heard Fritz's mumble and sighed. "You're right. I don't know what it was like, but I do believe finding your soulmate will make things all better. So the sooner we find them, the sooner your life will be better." He answered, having the mind set of it being the only way. He wasn't going to pry into Fritz's life, though, should he tell him, he would be silent and listen to him. They got closer to the locker room, he noticed some hunters exiting in warm clothing.
He tried to convince Fritz that he was lucky, only for it to backfire in his face. I can't. He thought to himself as he suddenly glanced at the ground, clearly ashamed. He followed Fritz to the end of the hallway, stopping in his spot when Fritz had walked to the wall before leaning against it. He had been silent for the rest of the walk, unsure on how he could go about giving Fritz his answer in return, so instead he decided to not say anything at all. He doesn't need to know that it is forbidden. He thought to himself, refusing to make conversation.
Constantly, Fritz eyes flitted between the doors of the dressing room. Every hunter who exited the change room were promptly scanned over and confirmed everybody's identity. Unfortunately, Kaitlynn Harris was not among the people leaving the changing rooms. A soft sigh escaped the blue-haired man's lips as he waited for the angelic sergeant to leave one of the rules. Alas, there was no confirmation if Kaitlynn was genuinely inside the room or not. Checking was out of the options because of his gender, unless he considered asking a female hunter.
[break][break]
The ancient warrior accomplished an eye roll when the shorter male began insisting he required a soulmate. Evidently, Quan failed to realize there were some past circumstances that could not be mended with finding a lover. The sorrow that afflicted him from the horrible memories of his village being burned would never leave. The incident inspired his vows, strengthened his determination and manifested an steely resolve to help others. Those days years ago, he lost his family, friends and later his life and afterlife...
[break][break]
Now? He refused to allow anybody else push through the ordeals he was forced into, if he could help it. A hero was forged from the ashes of his home, rebuilt from an untimely death and proven when he rose his sword against the injustice. He would never let that incident go.
[break][break]
"Finding a soulmate does not automatically make everything better," he grumbled, clearly displeased by the assumption.
[break][break]
Only moments later would silence fall, Fritz allowing minutes to pass. As the stragglers began leaving the changing room, he pushed off the wall and approached a female hunter.
[break][break]
"Excuse me, is Sergeant Harris still in the change room? Her brother is looking for her," the reaper explained to the woman.
[break][break]
The hunter thought for a moment before shaking her head 'no' and heading towards the meeting rooms. Another sigh escaped Fritz's lips as he gestured for Quan to follow. Perhaps she managed to slip past and end up inside the meeting room.

Quan was silent as he listened to Fritz words, knowing that he could have done better on his own counters but was stuck in sorrow over the fact he wasn't allowed to be with his own soulmate. The reason behind that wasn't a subject he wished to talk about and yet it bothered the shit out of him. Fritz had asked a female hunter if his Kaitlynn was in the locker room or not. The female hunter shook her head no and continued moving on. "You don't know that..." He mumbled after long silence, refusing to move from his spot when Fritz had gestured for him to follow him. "Your under the assumption that things will remain as they are now if not worse, without taking consideration on how the other might feel, assuming they are still alive or not."
He paused to take in a breath before continuing. "You are difficult to work with, I'll give you that, but it changes nothing. I'm determined as ever to find your soulmate to prove you wrong." He glanced up towards Fritz, having been staring at the ground for the longest time. "Because that is my role." He touched his chest with his thumb, hoping his point was coming across to Fritz. "And should I find out they aren't alive, then you end up getting what you wanted, to be alone and without me bothering you." He answered, going the opposite direction that Fritz had attempted to lead him too.
Soulmates existed, however, the cynicism which scarred Fritz’s heart was a powerful adversary. Centuries worth of torment plagued his mind, refusing to drift away like clouds caught in a breeze. Sorrow fogged everything, dampening his thoughts and keeping him cold. Icy hands gripped his mind, freezing his emotions and manifesting the stubborn requirement to push those who cared away. Consideration was absent as Fritz turned to move forward, planning on leading the charge to finally find Kaitlynn Harris. Unaware of his companions lack of movement.
[break][break]
The long silence between Fritz and Quan ended with an accusation of uncertainty over the condition of his soulmate. The ancient hero froze, sapphire eyes locked with the tiled floor beneath. Words were spoken, the blue-haired hunter maintaining silence as the dark-haired man lightly scolded him. Why was discovering his non-existent soulmate crucial? The world handed him tragedies by the dozen, hence he ceased expecting anything good. When something positive arrived, he was thankful, but he never searched for the miracles.
[break][break]
The man continued his speech, Fritz listening to every word silently. He failed to comprehend why the dark-haired man cared immensely about his soulmate rather than finding his own. For a mere moment he glanced behind him, eyes narrowing when Quan turned away, heading the opposite direction.
[break][break]
“Where are you going?” Fritz asked.
[break][break]
With those words, the ancient reaper turned around, long strides carrying him towards the mysterious man. Meanwhile, his thoughts tried to comprehend why Quan was so fixated on finding his soulmate.

Quan listened as Fritz asked where he was going, "A different direction, perhaps I'll find them both in this direction." He answered as he continued walking forward, unaware of what was in this direction. "You're comments are depressing me." He added, glancing towards Fritz before looking forward again. What I'd give to be allowed to have a soulmate, to hold that person close and not let go. Though I know who he is, it can never be and I can't tell anybody because I was never meant to find him in the first place. As he continued walking, he found himself thinking about Seth. It didn't take much for him to want to linger around him, but what was supposed to be him attempting a relationship had turned into thoughts of how he'd go about getting Seth the perfect second, because he was unfortunate to land him as his soulmate, one who was forbidden from having such things. A tear trickled down his cheeks as he thought about that fact, unable to control his feelings right at the moment.
The reaper's inability to suitably communicate with others resulted in negativism and depressive responses to the notion of "potentially" having a soulmate. There were doubts about possessing a soulmate, especially given the situation presented to him. There were few positives being demonstrated in the ancient warrior's life to allow him to believe he would be provided with the wonderful gift of destined love. Since the traumatic events which occurred at his village, Fritz sacrificed his life to fighting off evil for the sake of others.
[break][break]
Somebody needed to play hero and protect those who required it most. If not him, then who would take the position upon the prestigious mantel. An eye roll was given in response to Quan's obvious answer in regards to the direction he was going. Clearly, the stranger was displeased with the conversation, even going lengths to state Fritz was depressing him with the truthful words. Automatically, the hunter released an annoyed sigh, feet feeling heavy as he followed the dark-haired man; somebody had to assure he would stir trouble.
[break][break]
He silently followed behind Quan, unwilling to stand beside the man. Instead, he kept his distance, thinking the dark-haired man wanted some distance from his depressing attitude.

Quan was silent as he walked, tears pouring from his eyes as he continued in this direction. He had no idea where he was going but he still held the desire to find Fritz's soulmate, to show him they were in fact alive and that would be Fritz's choice on a blessing or a curse. Silence came between them as they walked until finally voices could be heard from down the hall, women. One he knew all to well, a small smile had crossed his lips, at least he had found her, since he had come looking for Kaitlynn in the first place. Soon he rounded the corner and saw them coming out of a room. The first thing he noticed was Kaitlynn before finding his attention drawn to Vashti, having noticed something about her and then he glanced back towards Fritz and saw the thread that bounded them together. He was silent instead of saying anything at all. "Sis." He greeted, quickly reaching up to wipe the tears from his eyes, hoping she had failed to notice.
They walked down the hallway, a disjointed duo. Throughout their venture, Fritz failed to detect the impact of his cynical words. The reaper was considered a blunt man despite his heroic efforts. Brutal honesty felt necessary sometimes and he wanted Quan to place his time in other pursuits, more worthwhile ones. There were few things this world would grant a man dragged down by the negative occurrences of his life. The ancient warrior was somebody broken down by the world, battle after battle making him believe his purpose was acting as a shield to others, not pursuing love.
[break][break]
As they ventured through the hallways, Fritz followed Quan around a corner where they finally saw Kaitlynn Harris, one of unit two's sergeants. Accompanying her was a familiar woman, Vashti Evans, the girl who insisted strongly they were soulmates with the utmost determination. A soft sigh escaped the blue-haired warrior's lips. The one person he wanted to remain safe at home, resting, decided to assist with the blizzard. Unit two was charged with tracking down those malicious creatures, meaning Vashti would be placed directly in danger.
[break][break]
The dark-haired man called for his sister, Fritz watching as Kaitlynn's face turned to surprise and soon worry. She approached her older brother, pulling him into a hug while soothing him. Only moments later did he notice Vashti's expression, her hand wrapping around his arm to drag him away. He failed to realize Quan had been upset, which meant he would receive a stern talking to.
