Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Tristan couldn't help but feel thrilled as he finished hacking into Nathan's cell phone, making sure the alarm would go off at 8:00AM in the morning. If his friend thought he would stop just there, he had another thing coming. Next would be anything in the house that could make noise, it would of course take a few minutes which is why he had set the alarm at 8:00AM, it would give Nathan a chance to hear it go off before the rest of the house made noise. He couldn't help but snicker as he looked over at the house before keying in a few more commands before exiting the program and logging out of his computer to shut it down. He then looked at his cell phone as he counted down the remaining seconds.
His phone said it was 8:00AM in the morning. He grinned knowing that Nathan's phone was likely going off, he couldn't help but try and picture the reaction that his friend would have to being woken up before noon. A few minutes later the rest of the alarms started going off in the house, I should really bolt for it but this is so much fun. Besides if I leave right now I might miss the chance of seeing him leave the house.... He remained hidden as he watched the front door to see if Nathan would be exiting soon. Another thought had crossed his mind, what if it had backfired and somebody else came out of that house first? I should be brave but if it isn't Nathan....
As usual, Nathan laid wrapped in the copious blankets of his bed in a cozy slumber. After a late night of hunting he required a pleasant and long rest; not to mention the vampire enjoyed sleeping until noon. In his perfect world the concept of waking up early would be nonexistent. He was deep within the holds of sleep as time ticked by, his body having no desires to awaken unless disturbed. It remained a pleasantly quiet sleep, until the alarm on Nathan's phone began ringing. An annoyed grumble escaped his lips while his pale hand reached out of the blanket's warmth to search for his phone. Eventually, his fingers touched the smooth screen and shortly it was brought closer. At first, Nathan thought it was merely a moment of forgetfulness where he forgot to turn the alarm off.
However, that was not a sensible conclusion consider the alarm had not gone off yesterday. Quickly, Nathan turned it off while he thought of what may have happened. The answer was shortly handed to him in the form of blaring alarms, radios, televisions and various other noisy electronics going off. Frustration was evident on the vampire's face as he realized who the culprit had to be. Nathan sat up in his bed with his yellow-green eyes narrowed; he was not happy.
"SERIOUSLY, TRISTAN! I KNOW YOU DID THIS AND I AM GOING TO KILL YOU FOR IT!" The words were screamed loudly, the vampire not doubting the idea of Tristan being able to hear him.
Fury entered his emotions has he slid off the covers and touched the carpeted floor of his bedroom. Being woken up at 8:00am was not a major problem for most, but Nathan was different. To him, being woken up so early was a sin that demanded punishment! Thus, while the green haired teen rose from his bed, he grabbed the Bowie knife that rested on the side table. A moment was taken to grab a the camouflage sweater that hung on his computer chair. While he walked towards the door he slid his arms through the sleeves and stuffed his knife into the pocket. As he left his bedroom, the servants were in a frenzy to attend the issue alongside avoid the angered young man. With the assistance of some speed enhancement got downstairs and towards the front door in a matter of moments. The vampire was determined to find Tristan and threaten him in hopes he would leave.
That was unlikely considering the various other attempts had not ceased the hacker's need to bother him. He was also incapable of harming Tristan, partially because he could not hurt innocent people, but also because the blonde hacker seemed to be the only friend keen on continuously bothering him. Once Nathan reached the door he angrily pulled it open and slammed it behind him (after hastily pulling on his sneakers on). His yellow-green eyes gazed around wildly in search for the culprit of setting the alarms off. How displeased the vampire felt was evident on his face while he searched for Tristan.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! COME OUT!" Nathan exclaimed as he began to trudge around to seek the man.
While he walked around, Nathan's hands remained in fists. He was likely an oddity in the morning angrily stomping around in his plaid pajama pants, black tank top and camouflage sweater. It was not the best outfit for a winter morning, but the vampire did not care; he had to find this hacker and teach him a lesson.
Tristan couldn't hold back his grin as Nathan had screamed out at him, it was too bad he had yet to see him. He always says that and yet, I know he might someday really doing something about it.... I can't find it in my heart to worry about that now, though I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it. He thought to himself, still amused that Nathan could still be surprised by his actions. The front door had opened and Tristan froze as he watched to see who would be coming outside. Nathan was in full view, clearly still wearing his pajama pants, a black tank top he likely slept in, and a camouflage sweater. He held his breath, pressing a hand against his mouth to help him not laugh as he took in Nathan's appearance.
He didn't waste any time coming out here, now did he? I should have counted on that though.... He also couldn't help but find Nathan's demand for him to come out of hiding amusing, of course Nathan started searching for him and all he could do was remain hidden in his spot as to avoid making noise to alert Nathan of his location. If there was one thing he knew, it was that he wasn't a fast runner, not if Nathan wanted to catch up to him anyway. Still, the appearance and the angry look on Nathan's face was too much. A laugh had escaped and all he could do was recover his mouth as he tried to hold back anymore laughing just in case there was a slight chance Nathan hadn't noticed. At this rate, he will find me and I won't get to say any good come backs this morning.... I might as well pop in to say hello, it is only fair seeing as he had come all this way just to see me. He thought to himself as he removed his hand from his mouth to speak.
"Good morning sunshine." He grinned as he came out from hiding behind a bush. Oh gosh, I got dirt on my pants. My father will be so upset, oh well. He thought to himself as he remained in his spot, he wouldn't need to move Nathan was bound to come to him if he waited long enough. "You got a new record." He chuckled at his own joke, finding pleasure in teasing his friend despite the bad timing or at least he assumed it was bad timing. He knew Nathan liked his sleep and yet it hadn't stopped him from triggering the electronics anyway.
It was evident by Nathan's face that he was beyond furious with this little trick that Tristan decided to commit. Being woken up early always made the vampire feel incredibly grumpy and was incredibly annoying. For this vexation there was a need for some vengeance against the person who inflicted it upon him. The green haired man's yellow-green eyes gazed over the winter scenery outside the large manner he called home. A gentle crunching was made while Nathan walked on the fresh layer of snow in search of Tristan. Nathan's fists were clenched while he walked, the nails digging into the palms of his hand; threatening to break skin. Naturally, the vampire was not overly concerned with the concept since he healed faster than regular people. A minor flesh wound like that would likely heal in the span of a few minutes.
As he searched for the man responsible for waking him up, Nathan pondered a possible method to push Tristan away. The blond had been unperturbed by the previous threats that had been made; or at least enough to accomplish this stunt. That was when the vampire's ears began to pick up the sound of laughter that sounded like Tristan's. Nathan turned in response to the noise, finding the blond standing not too far away. When he said good morning and even going the length of calling him sunshine, the vampire's eyes narrowed in a glare. Upon seeing the man who was causing this mischief, the green haired teen's finger nails dug into the palms of his hands, leaving small cuts. The mentioning of a new record being made was when the furious teen began to lose it.
"I AM NOT TRYING TO SET RECORDS! WHY ARE YOU SO INSISTENT ON BUGGING ME?!" The vampire yelled, anger edging his words like a blade.
Not a moment later was Nathan advancing towards Tristan, his right hand plunging into the sweater's pocket to fiddle with the knife's sheath. There was a click while the small button was popped off, the vampire's fingers easily just removing his favoured Bowie knife from his pocket. As the blade caught sunlight it glinted which made the few darker patches across the surface apparent. It has been caused from the ash substance it would get covered in after the numerous fights with terrors that Nathan was involved in.
"DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?! CAUSE YOU SHOULD KNOW BY NOW THAT I ENJOY MY SLEEP, NOT SEEING SOME BLOND HAIRED JERK WAKE ME UP IN THE MORNING!" The yelling was increasing in anger as Nathan drew closer.
The grip on the knife tightened, turning the vampire's knuckles a slightly paler colour in comparison to his already porcelain complexion. Slowly, the knife was held up in a threatening manner towards Tristan despite the fact that Nathan would never actually harm him. Sometimes it was nice to have somebody who had the guts to bother him.
"Now, how would you like to die or are you going to beg for mercy?" Nathan asked in a irritable tone.
The vampire paused while he glared daggers at the hacker and waited for a response. He was silently praying that Tristan had not discovered the death threats to be a bluff. A large amount had been made, but not once had Nathan actually followed through or even harmed Tristan. It was easy to say that the vampire could never harm an innocent person and definitely not a friend, but the desire for lonesomeness required threats which means he would abide.
Tristan just grinned at Nathan, "Exactly, that is why setting this new record is just so grand." He explained, not at all bothered by the fact Nathan was yelling at him once more. It was common for Nathan to yell at him, it was to the point that he was used to it not that it had bothered him before, he just continued finding it amusing. As for the threats, normally they didn't bother him unless his life was threatened but so far Nathan hadn't done so yet so he planned on letting his fun continue just a little bit longer. Nathan had advanced towards him, Tristan hadn't planned on moving until he noticed that Nathan's hand was in his pocket as if planning on grabbing something. He knew this all to well, it wasn't the first time the bowie was in his face and it wouldn't be the last either, though deep down even with all his tricks he hoped it would be the last time since he wasn't a fan of that thing being near his face.
He took a step back as if hoping to give himself just a little more distance between him and that bowie knife Nathan was holding. "Aww, you act like your in a nightmare." Tristan gave an innocent smile, having raised his hands to try and calm Nathan down. The last thing he wanted was to risk being cut by that knife. Nathan made his comment, Tristan couldn't help but pout at the two options at in front of him. "Aww come on... Your not really going to give those as my only options are you?" He was somewhat kidding but at the same time he couldn't bring himself to beg even if he didn't want to be hurt by that knife. I could always bolt for it but then again, I feel like that might fall under begging in its own way. He tried deciding in his head what exactly he wanted to do to, then a thought had crossed his mind.
"I have an idea, how about we hang out instead...." He suggested, "My treat." He added, figuring that Nathan would try and go back to sleep if he didn't distract him but then again if Nathan tried it, he could always just set the alarms to go off a second time.
The grin that Tristan's face held alongside the mentioning of it being a stupendous occasion due to the lack of effort on Nathan's part made the vampire angrier. He was furious about being awoken at a time that he considered to be early. There was still no possible method to comprehend how the blond hacker maintained the courage to bother him during the morning. Especially since how irritated Nathan was becoming was beginning to become visible by the fact he was shaking from it. The vampire's nails dug deeper into the palm of his hand, the one was that was weaponless. Admittedly, Nathan really desired to punch that smile off his face, but he refrained from such an action.
"SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT TO SET SOME GRAND RECORD! I WANTED SOME PEACE AND QUIET DAMMIT!" Once again, Nathan screamed.
Despite knowing the screaming would do little to force Tristan to leave, the vampire would still yell at him constantly. Any attention that was taken towards them mattered little to Nathan; he was simply too furious to care. As he watched Tristan began moving back, the reasoning was obvious. The bowie knife the green haired man possessed always frightened people, especially the careless manner he tended to swing it about; in reality each swing was calculated to not harm the other person. When Tristan mentioned the word nightmare, a smirk crossed Nathan's face.
"On the contrary, you seem to be a little scared," he began. "What's wrong, Tristan? Did you just encounter your nightmare?"
The scenario only seemed to improve in the vampire's favor when Tristan raised his hands in an attempt to sooth him. To the vampire, that was a sign of being afraid, which was a natural response from most people. Almost everybody learned to fear him, the servants being the few to witness his kindness; they took care of him so it was the least he could do. Thus, he kept comment advancing towards Tristan until he was close enough where he could hit if he desired. When Tristan pouted about the options Nathan had given him, the vampire flashed him a toothy grin.
"You should be happy you got an option," the vampire stated. "Now which is it? Are you going to start begging or maybe you do have a death wish."
Patiently, Nathan waited for the blond man's decision, but instead got surprised at his suggested. Tristan desired to spend time with him. It caught the vampire off guard which was evident by the fact his eyes widened. Nobody asked to hang out with him nowadays, with the exception of Cae who had yet to be victimized to his sadistic side; one day he would scare her off too.
"You... want to hang out with me?" Nathan began as though he was still attempting to wrap his head around the concept. "Why the hell would you want to do that? Did you get hit in the head or something? I JUST PULLED A KNIFE ON YOU AND THREATENED TO KILL YOU!"
Nathan took a few steps backwards due to Tristan's strange proposal. He could not even begin to comprehend why exactly he desired to spend time with him. They were former friends, but Nathan had been certain he had banished those thoughts of rekindling the high school friendship they shared; despite secretly craving it. Although he would never admit it, the vampire missed his friend. Alas, Nathan wanted to be alone so he could no longer feel emotions about those around him in order to never feel the bitter sting of loss ever again.
Tristan had taken notice of Nathan digging his nails into the palm of his hand feeling slightly worried but with Nathan yelling at him he didn't have the desire to interrupt him. Inside he felt himself flinching, it seemed each time he tried getting closer to Nathan, the other would just try harder to push him away. That wouldn't stop him from trying to get closer to Nathan however, he would just have to step up his game. I still get attention by his yelling, for now that is good enough. He decided to himself, trying to remain calm despite the fact the bowie knife was out. He shook his head slightly, he wasn't about to admit that he was in fact scared, it was a sign of weakness, one that he wasn't willing to show unless he was closer to his death bed or a Terror was going after him. For some reason he felt strangely safe around Nathan, perhaps being saved one too many times had gone to his head.
Nathan asked him what was wrong, it was hard to fake his feelings when he really was scared of that knife his. The last thing he wanted was for Nathan to see that his feared the knife anyway. "I don't have nightmares." It was the best lie he could come up with at this time. It would be easy to call his bluff so he might as well not give Nathan anymore possible ideas. "A dream come true." It was a lie, well a half truth. On the one hand Nathan was up and about, in a way still giving him attention, on the other hand Nathan had a knife in his hand that he wasn't too thrilled about seeing. Nathan told him that he should be happy that he gets an option and wanted to know what his choice would be. What do I say? How do I get out of this? Will he harm me this time? I don't want to be harmed or die, or be harmed.... He couldn't bring himself to beg for mercy, god only knows if given the chance he would do this all over again. He bravely gave his answer, "I don't beg, though I don't have a death wish either." He paused before adding, "Just a longing for your undivided attention." He was being serious.
If his previous answer wasn't enough to prove that he was serious, his next suggestion would be. Nathan asked his question, Tristan had slightly nodded his head in agreement, hoping that it would sink in that he was in fact serious. Then it seemed to backfire as Nathan spoke. He blinked at Nathan, speechless for a long moment until Nathan had taken a few steps away from him. "Come to think of it." He scratched the back of his neck, now finding himself able to relax since the knife wasn't currently in his face. "I think I have a hole right here." His hand moved from his neck to point to his heart, "I think I got injured right here." He stated plainly, unaware that Nathan might take him seriously. As if to make matters worse, his phone had gone off. I don't want to answer it, no.... I don't want to answer it.... This is bad timing.... He thought to himself, somewhat annoyed that his father was likely giving him a phone call. His hand slipped into his pocket to grab the phone as to turn the volume down to silent.
Initially, the entire scenario seemed to be going swimmingly since Nathan was plenty capable at sparking fear in the hearts of those around him. It was not particularly difficult for the vampire to accomplish such a goal; to him it was second nature. Thus, as he continued trying to scare this stubborn friend into leaving him alone, Nathan was fairly certain he was succeeding. Alas, it seemed Tristan was not keen on admitting to the fear that the hunter believed he possessed. In response to the head shaking, the green haired teen's eyes narrowed as he looked at the blond. What kind of person did not run in the face of mask? It was difficult for Nathan to understand why Tristan remained to persistent and brave. Perhaps in the days of the past he had played hero one too many times. A toothy grin came across Nathan's face when Tristan said he did not possess nightmares and said this was dream come true.
"Oh? But everybody is scared of something, Tristan. Everybody has a worst nightmare," he spoke with a wolfish grin. "Are you scared of me? Cause I won't blame you for that, since you are meddling with something dangerous."
The knife was twirled into the air and caught, moving smoothly since the motions had been practiced numerous times at the expense of injuries. The distance was retaken as Nathan allowed his fangs to become revealed, as another incentive for fear. A menacing countenance crossed the vampire's face, he was certain he could get Tristan to leave this time.
"A dream you say? Does that mean you do have a death wish, Tristan?" Nathan threatened, bringing the knife closer to Tristan. "Because it really doesn't take much to fulfill that," he whispered once close enough.
There was no possible way that Nathan would harm him, but acting as though he would accomplish harming the teen in a heartbeat seemed like an excellent way to banish Tristan from his life. Everybody had to be pushed away after all since having nobody important meant there was no possible way to feel the pain of loss. The pain of losing somebody who had managed to become treasured and feeling that harsh, excruciating pain worst than any physical injury. In the vampire's mind, this was the only method to make certain that those feeling of sorrow would never return. When Tristan courageously stated his answer and desire for merely his attention was when Nathan's eyes widened in shock. He was befuddled by the very concept of somebody craving his attention. For a moment, the sadistic vampire was speechless, the hand holding the knife shaking as though he suddenly lost the nerve to even hold it.
The serious tone in Tristan's voice shook the vampire's mask, made him unable to properly react. Nathan's mind was almost unable to comprehend the fact that the blond teen wanted his attention; the reasoning likely to never be resolved. Once again, the vampire found himself backpedaling away from Tristan, his mind still reeling from what his friend had stated. It was as though the feelings that his friend still held for him acted as the blond's shield. As Tristan continued, pointing to where his heart would be and stating he got injured there, Nathan flinched. Was he truly that important to his friend? The thought was pushed aside as the vampire's cynical side stated that it was an impossibility; nobody could possibly care about him. When the phone began ringing, Nathan was snapped back into the situation.
"Oh, really? Cause I will happily give you more holes to match!" Nathan yelled.
The threat was quickly said, a last minute chance to bring the illusion. Anybody with good attentiveness to the situation could easily notice the hollowness in the vampire's words. The blatant lie the threat was made Nathan want to flinch in response, but he held the glare on his face and prayed he could keep up the act.
Tristan couldn't help but feel slightly uneasy when Nathan continued twirling the knife in his hand, it was as if Nathan expected him to answer. Though he knew Nathan planned on try and push him away, he couldn't allow himself to submit. If Nathan found out his fear he would only use it against him to scare him away. Nathan had come into his face again so that the space between them was once more gone. Seeing his fangs showing was somewhat scary but thrilling at the same time, Nathan must have been really serious in pushing him away if he was willing to go to such great lengths in scaring him off. I can't allow fear to stop me.... I won't let him push me away. It didn't matter what answer he gave to Nathan, it seemed the answer would be thrown back into his face. It was starting to give him somewhat of a heartache at the idea that Nathan really wouldn't want nothing to do with him.
They knew each other back in high school, what exactly had happened to make him believe he could push him away so easily or better yet, why was his heart throbbing at the idea of Nathan really wanting nothing more to do with him. Maybe he had pranked him one too many times, in his defense he was trying to lighten the mood but it seemed to have backfired on him once more. He was debating on how he might go around to answer Nathan, of course he didn't have a death wish but at the same time, leaving his friend behind would feel like he was dying on the inside anyway, so maybe this would be the easier route. An idea had crossed his mind and he thought to try and be honest with Nathan as well as slightly trying to tease him somewhat. It believed that he had almost worked until his damn cell phone went off. It felt like game over, even before Nathan had spoken, he believed he had lost the game. He hadn't finished turning the volume down on the cell phone when he heard Nathan's voice.
As if to make matters worse, his phone went off one more time. He glanced down at it to see it was his father calling again before he felt suddenly dizzy. He had chest pain, possibly from the heart ache of being unable to please. Instead of answering Nathan's question, he seemed to have frozen in his spot before his cell phone had slipped from his hand and he was falling, the motion was super fast. The light seemed to disappear from him, all he could see was darkness. It felt like the darkness was calling out to him but he wasn't ready to go, not just yet. Meanwhile, Tristan had fainted in front of Nathan, the stress had overwhelmed him so much.
The vampire was determined to push this blond teen away, those painful memories just confirming it. There was certainty that he had accomplished that task by showing his fangs and waving his knife around. The threats were extra to leave that little bit more of a sting in hopes that at least he would be left in lonesome silence. Alas, Tristan was not running despite the words and actions that the sadistic teen made towards him, it was something that Nathan could never understand. This time, however, would be different and Nathan was determined to rid himself of the last friend he possessed; to finally cut the strings to the last important person. There would be no pain if there nobody to lose nor would those thoughts of possible loss plague his already sorrowful mind.
That was when it happen as Tristan seemed to freeze, phone slipping from his hand and sudden he began to fall. Suddenly, it felt as though something yanked at the vampire's heart, making it skip a beat; almost like a rookie puppeteer had attempt to sharply pull at a stuck doll. Shock crossed Nathan's face, the knife was discarded as the vampire enhanced his speed, skidding onto the snow covered ground to successfully last minute catch his friend. At the end, his knees were stinging from being bitten harshly from the cold, but Nathan ignored it. He focused on Tristan, concern written on the countenance of his face. Gently, the vampire shook the blond teen.
"Tristan? Tristan?! Wake up, please. I'M SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN WHAT I SAID!" Nathan insisted in a moment of panic.
Finally, the green haired teen noticed that his friend was still breathing. Upon noticing that, Nathan picked Tristan up in both his arms and went inside. When the first servant noticed them, they approached and asked what was wrong and what had happened. Instead of answering, the vampire merely told them to retrieve what was outside while he took Tristan upstairs to rest. Quickly, the worried teen ascended the stairs, holding his unconscious friend close while still feeling horrible. Certainly, this was his fault right? Had he hurt Tristan that bad when he attempted to cut all ties from him? The vampire felt incredibly guilty over the concept and decided he would have to help the blond get better; it was only fair. Once Nathan returned to his room, he settled Tristan into the bed and grabbed the blankets. He snuggled the blankets close, making certain that his friend would not be cold. The room, akin to the rest of the house, was dark with forest green walls and a simple light grey carpet. Shelves holding sports trophies lined the walls and a small computer desk remained tucked away in the corner. A TV surrounded by various game consoles was across from the bed and kept pristine from the cautious care of the servants. A small shelf of books containing fighting information alongside a log of various knives had their place by the closet. The odd posture of some popular rock band or video game hung from the walls, most consistently around the desk. For the time being though, Nathan did not focus on the items and instead watched Tristan for a few moments.
"I'm so sorry..." Nathan murmured quietly before looking for some clothes.
For a few moments, he rummaged through the closet and grabbed a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Once the vampire had his clothes, he left to get changed in the washroom to avoid any awkward sudden wake-up incidents. There was a pause at the bedside table as his yellow-green eyes caught the silver dog tags the vampire wore constant; they were snatched up. He had pulled the shirt over his head and tugged on the jeans before grabbing the camouflage and putting the dog tags around his neck. Afterwards, he entered the hallway and began heading back to his room to check on his friend.
Tristan had plundered into darkness. Unaware that Nathan had caught him, unaware that Nathan was panicking because he had thought it was his fault. Of course that was false and Tristan would have told him such a thing, if he had been conscious he would have corrected Nathan on the subject. His father was the reason for him fainting, though he wouldn't lie, Nathan's last attempt to push him away had left him heart broken. Never in his life did he think it to be possible that he'd be alone, alone to deal with that monster alone. Of course they had their on and offs but he honestly believed that he could get through to Nathan but it seemed that had failed too. Am I on the verge of death? He couldn't see anything but all of a sudden the old man was there, he was standing just in front of him.
His worst nightmare was standing just a few feet in front of him. "You useless piece of trash, how many times do I have to tell you. Answer the phone when I call, be up when I call, get to work when I call...." The memory of his father's actions replayed in his dream, he knew exactly what to expect from this outcome, he wouldn't be able to escape from his father, not when he found himself frozen in place unable to fight him off. Tristan braced himself as his father reached out and grabbed him by the scuff, pulling him closer to him as he angrily spoke. "How many times must I remind you? Get up." His father snapped at him, shoving Tristan to the ground before slowly making his way towards him. No.... no... stay away from me.... He thought as he tried crawling away from his father. His father was just above him, yanking him up by the arm, forcing Tristan to his feet. "If you won't wake up, I'll wake you up...." He snapped before shoving Tristan against the wall.
Tristan wasn't able to hold his weight up and his father let go of his arm so that he could fall onto the ground. "If you aren't willing to wake up willingly, I'll force you to wake up." His father's voice rang into his head as he moved towards Tristan once more and yanked his arm, dragging him towards the sudden window that had appeared out of nowhere. Noo... no.... I don't want to go.... anywhere but there..... He thought to himself, unaware this was just a nightmare, a nightmare because he was unconscious and it was the only way his body could force him awake. His father kept dragging him to the window, yanking Tristan to his feet he held him against the window. Tristan turned his head slightly before looking back at his father. Is this it? Am I really done this time? He thought to himself before the figure in front of him appeared as himself. "Your dreaming Tristan, wake up.... Wake up Tristan...." The voice spoke out to him before pushing him through the window. Noooooooooooooooo..... He thought to himself, unable to scream.
Tristan breathed heavier as the ground was getting closer and closer to him. Just before his body hit the floor his eyes shot open. Panic was the first thing crossing his mind as he suddenly sat up in the bed to look around the room. Where.... where am I? He couldn't remember what had happened before waking up in this bed. Wasn't I outside? No that can't be right... I would remember coming in here.... Tristan looked towards the door to see that he was alone in the room. I remember being with Nathan, then all went black... Once more panic overcame him. Where is Nathan? Has he really left me? He thought to himself as he moved to get out of the bed, but the sudden moment had caused him to feel dizzy and he fell out of the bed with the blankets still tangled around him. Ouch.... He thought to himself as he rubbed his forehead with his hand.
As the agonizing walk back towards his room was taken with long strides, Nathan did several long breaths to calm himself. Part of him wanted to sprint down the hallway with his enhanced speed, but knowing him he would also pass his room. With hands hiding in the pockets of his camouflage jacket while his mind screamed at him to run, alas, he did not. The vampire needed a few precious moments to regain his composure after what had happen, to ponder his words and apologize to his friend. The intent had been to merely push Tristan away, but the repercussions seemed to be stinging. A few more moments were taken for more calming breathing, a few servants inquiring on the teen's health as he passed. It took effort, but eventually a slight calm came over Nathan, that was until he heard a loud bang from his room.
Without a second thought, the vampire was sprinting towards his room, avoiding the use of his enhancement to make certain he would not pass by the threshold. The door was pushed open, slamming loudly against the door stopper due to the vampire's sudden panic. His eyes glanced around, finding that Tristan was no longer in bed and instead on the floor. For a moment, Nathan's heart skipped a beat in concern and found himself hastily making his way towards the blond and kneeling once he was close enough.
"Tristan, why are you on the floor?!" Notes of concern covered the vampire's voice as he spoke. "Are you okay?!"
Shortly, Nathan got to trying to help get Tristan unraveled from the tangling of blankets. A worried expression was written across the green-haired man's countenance with some more hidden hints of guilt. Despite it being an unknown factor that Tristan would wake and attempt to leave bed, Nathan felt guilty for leaving his side. As he worked in assisted his friend out of the blanket web, the vampire seemed to begin shaking slightly as he slowly began to feel the guilt overcome him. It was not long before Nathan found himself reaching out in an attempt to hug Tristan tight almost to make certain this was reality. For a few moments there was a silence that fell on the vampire as he began to dwell on how horrible he felt for making the blond faint; or at least he believed he had.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, Nathan mumbled quietly. "I... I didn't mean to make you faint. I really didn't. I just... I was being stupid. I'm sorry..."
It felt as though suddenly all the emotions and former closeness rushed back, making Nathan feel worse than before. Perhaps he was too harsh when it came to pushing all his friends away instead of letting them linger. His desire not to be hurt ultimately made him lonesome and the repercussions of his pushing seemed to provide negative effects. The sadistic mask was dropped, forgotten for the time being in favor for the truth that laid beneath; a teen who still cared about his only friend left.
"You should get back into bed, being on the floor isn't good for you, especially since you just fainted. Do you need anything? Because I will go get it for you. Are you hungry or do you need something to drink or anything like that? Do you feel sick, cause I can help you out with that too and you can rest all you need. I mean, I definitely don't want you to faint again which means you need to rest and get better." The vampire rambled in a concerned voice.
The worried tone of voice could not be ceased and it was blatantly obvious as Nathan spoke to his friend. He had to be certain that everything was alright and even then the vampire was not sure if he could keep up the sadistic appearance in front of Tristan. The barrier to avoid closeness had been broken and after the fainting episode, Nathan did not want to accidentally cause his friend more harm; he could not help, but still feel terrible from this time. Deep down, the vampire cared, although, he would be unlikely to openly admit the feelings he held for the people around him.
Tristan looked over towards the door, hand still to his forehead when he noticed Nathan was standing by it. Ugh.... falling out of bed sucks.... He honestly wasn't expecting to get tangled up in the blanket when he had tried getting out of bed only a few moments prior. To his surprise Nathan had made his way towards him, asking him why he was on the floor and later if he was okay. "I thought I was alone in here...." His hand remained on his forehead as he tried remembering what had happened prior to waking up but his memory was still somewhat foggy, even the reason for waking up was disappearing from his memory. "I'm fine." He wasn't sure if Nathan was asking about his fainting or the fact that he had fallen out of bed, but neither was as bad as the treatment his father was guilty of giving him when he was living at home. Nathan was helping him get unraveled from the blankets, he couldn't bring himself to look at Nathan because his head was still somewhat dizzy.
It was easy for him to notice that Nathan had started shaking because the blanket he was holding was moving slightly against him, encouraging him to look over at Nathan to see he was shaking. Nathan had reached out to hug him, Tristan melted in his embrace and slowly moved his arms around Nathan to hug him in return. If Nathan wanted to cry on his shoulder, Tristan's shoulder was available for him to do so, he'd be here for his friend. Though he couldn't help but feel somewhat confused on the sudden change of attitude, unaware that Nathan had been freaking out since he had passed out earlier. Nathan's words went in his ears, he found himself speechless as he listened. He had yet to make a comment back to Nathan, still stunned that Nathan seemed to think his fainting had been his fault when his father was the cause and the little heart break had pushed him, when Nathan had mentioned about being on the floor, suggesting to rest up back in bed and if he needed anything Nathan was here to help him. How about you don't leave me.... He felt like it was a selfish thought but he wasn't going to let that stop him from trying to request it.
Of course being in bed would be fine, so long as Nathan didn't leave him again. He wouldn't lie, that hug had helped his broken heart feel better. All he needed now was to keep Nathan from leaving him again, but he wasn't completely sure how he would go about doing that, then a thought had come to his mind, it was certainly worth a try. If Nathan had plans to tend to him, he'd best be ready for close contact because Tristan wasn't about to let go, not if he could help it. The hug may have ended and Tristan might have willingly gone back onto the bed, now free from the blankets that had been tangled around him, moments prior but if there was a slight chance that Nathan thought about trying to move out of his reach, he would have to think again, because Tristan's hand had gone out to catch his sleeve in his hand. "Don't.... don't. leave me..." A plea, his heart was still aching because Nathan had tried pushing him away earlier.
He thought that there had been a chance of game over, but Nathan was still here. If he didn't know any better, this was likely Nathan's room, his bed. Though Nathan had felt bad for making him faint earlier, he still had to tell him that it wasn't his fault, though breaking his heart hadn't helped, Tristan wasn't about to admit that to him. If Nathan wouldn't stay close to him, Tristan had plans to close the distance by following him around instead.
There was still guilt lingering in Nathan's emotions as he remained near his friend. Seeing the hand on Tristan's forehead suggested the concept of injury, which caused the vampire to feel more worried about his precious companion. The unforeseen consequences of Nathan's constant pushing made him desire to accomplish all of his friend's needs and make him well once again. That small amount of care the vampire still possessed allowed his more human side to show and allowed him to still maintain a subconscious. His eyes remained on Tristan, listening while his friend stated that that he thought he was alone. That caused the corners of Nathan's lips to tug down into a deep frown; had he actually pushed his friend away to the point where Tristan thought he would simply leave after causing the blond's fainting episode?
The sad countenance in Nathan's face was shortly replaced with relief when Tristan stated he was fine. It mildly relaxed the vampire to hear his friend say that. At least, according to his friend, he had not obtained any physical harm from the incident; it was better than injuries. To further the vampire's reassurance was when he successfully hugged Tristan, feeling him melt into the embrace. Something about being able to wrap his arms around the blond was comforting, the green haired teen feeling calmed holding his friend close. Nathan could only imagine the oddity that was sudden behavioral change, but the vampire felt no need to explain if the blond was not going to question. Instead, he enjoyed holding his friend and when Tristan slowly wrapped his arms around him, the vampire felt himself grow calmer. Being able to embrace Tristan had an effect on Nathan, allowing him to feel better over the incident.
Although, there was a strange feeling transcending over the vampire while he held his friend close to him. Part of him held the desire to never release Tristan from his arms. Furthermore, his heart rate elevated slightly and the vampire could feel a hint of warmth touching his cheeks. It felt as though something was insisting towards the concept of hugging his blond friend; like some invisible rope coaxed for them to be closer. For a few more moments, the green haired teen kept Tristan in his arms until finally realizing he should pull away. Hesitantly, Nathan released his friend and drew away slightly while remaining close to his friend. The vampire's yellow-green eyes began to analyze his companion, making certain that Tristan was not injured from the fall.
"Let's get you back in bed," Nathan insisted gently.
The moment the vampire went to move away from his friend in order to grant enough room for movement was when he felt a hand catch his sleeve. In reaction, Nathan's eyes widened while he looked at Tristan with a befuddle expression written on his face due to the action. He could not begin to comprehend why somebody would be keen on catching his sleeve, especially since his mask pushed them away. There was a lacking of times when that would grant him attention and furthermore his constant pushing caused people to give up on friendship. When the plea was spoken, the vampire swore he felt his heart skip a beat when Tristan begged him to not leave. For a few moments, Nathan was left speechless at the concept; nobody had ever said that to him.
"... Are you scared to be alone, Tristan?" Nathan began quietly. "I won't leave, not unless you want me to. I want you to feel better, and if staying helps with that, then I will be right here whenever I can."
The entire time, Nathan found himself looking directly at Tristan while he stated his promise. He wanted his friend to feel better and would happily stay by his side should that be a method of bringing wellness. Although, the vampire knew he would still have to leave should Tristan need something, or to find a servant who could bring it. For the time being, however, Nathan planned to remain beside the blond.
"Now, come on, let's get you back into bed," he said quietly.
With that said, the vampire slowly reached for Tristan's arm to assist him off the floor. Afterwards, Nathan planned to guide his friend to the bed. Once that was completed, the green haired teen planned to retrieve the blankets from the floor and make Tristan comfortable so the blond could rest. A determined gleam entered the vampire's eyes, he was adamant about making certain that his friend would get better soon and at any costs.
It wasn't like Nathan appeared interested in wanting to leave him, it was just that he had become too comfortable in Nathan's embrace that he wanted to try again to not let Nathan leave him. Though as selfish as it would be to not want Nathan to leave, it was somewhat embarrassing to think that Nathan might join him in bed as to comfort him by standing around. He was holding onto Nathan's sleeve, as if holding on for dear life. He couldn't bare the thought of Nathan pushing him away once more, he already had his father to deal with but losing his friend too, not when he thought he might get him back, it would be too much to bare. He couldn't bring himself to answer right away, though it didn't seem like he had to, Nathan must have gotten the hint because of his next words. "I don't want you to leave." He whispered, as if trying to prove to Nathan he had no interest in pushing his friend away.
In fact, he was determined to prove other wise if Nathan opted to test the subject as he had earlier when he tried pushing him away. He felt comfort when Nathan said that he'd stay if it meant that it would help him feel better, he believed him. Nathan encouraged him to stand up so that he could get back into bed, Tristan took his help in getting up but he wasn't about to let Nathan out of reach again. Once in bed, he stared at Nathan who had already gathered the blankets off of the floor to put them back on the bed. Now the time had come, either he would have the guts to have Nathan in this bed with him or he ran the risk of Nathan leaving him. "Alright, I'm back in bed." He started, "But it is lonely in here." He blushed at the hint of having Nathan join him. What is this feeling? I know I like him by why is it so hard for me to want him to join me? He hadn't noticed his face going red from being flustered.
