Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Tristan couldn't help but smirk when he saw Nathan's cheeks go red, the question would be rewarded with a correction. "I know your a hero." He stated, wanting nothing more than seeing Nathan's blush for a little bit longer. He shook his head slightly to Nathan's comment. "That isn't true about all heros and you aren't a jerk." He corrected his friend once more. "You were." He pauses to correct himself, "You are being yourself." If he needed to explain it more, he would do so, but it was sad to think that Nathan couldn't see what he saw in front of himself. "Nobody is perfect Nathan, I'm far from it myself. But when I'm around you I feel like I'm at home." He would once more have to correct himself. "Home where my happiness lies, not the place my parents reside in." He didn't want to risk that becoming a confusion in the near future. "I have fun when I'm around you, as I said we both have our moments." He chuckled, "Besides the worst you did to me was yell...." He wasn't about to point out the threats, "And saved me."
He had tightened his grip in hopes of comforting Nathan. He wanted his friend to not feel bad about earlier or the past. It was mostly his father's fault after all, it had just hurt for Nathan to push him away but he had already forgiven him for the action. When he had started shaking slightly, he felt comfort in Nathan's rubbing his back. Than Nathan reminded him that he hadn't talked about the nightmare, asking if he still wanted to talk about it. "It was just a nightmare about my father, I thought I was awake.... but I'll be alright." He felt foolish for trying to hide the abuse from Nathan but the last thing he wanted to do was run the risk of worrying his friend, he did after all have so many other things on his plate right now. He had started coughing shortly after, it seemed that he was likely getting a cold mostly encouraged by overworking. Nathan had loosened his grip before opening a water bottle for him to drink.
Tristan took the bottle with one hand and took a sip, trying to force the water to stay down so that it could clear his throat. When he finished, he looked over at Nathan with a small smile on his face. "Thank you for letting me stay here until I get better." He tried acting brave, unaware of the concern his friend felt towards his well being. No sooner had he made the comment that he had started coughing once more, it looked like his father was really going to have a field day with him later. He placed the water bottle to his lips for another sip, trying to avoid swallowing too fast so that he didn't run the risk of choking on it. His throat felt so dry and he felt somewhat sick, mostly from the stress of his father being on his mind. I really should tell him how abusive my father is but.... I don't know.... With any luck he won't meet my father.
Compliments from Tristan seemed to skyrocket in value to Nathan. They made the vampire feel important and reminded him how sweet his friend could be. When Nathan caught the smirk on Tristan's face caused him to feel nervous. The blond was clearly planning something, and when the statements began there was clarity. Each positive comment that Tristan stated about him resulted in his heart fluttering. The blush on his face increased immensely, consuming his once pale complexion in trade for a deep red one. As compliments ticked by, Nathan's face began feeling warmer in the presence of Tristan. Part of him desires to hide his face, but his yellow-green eyes refused to drift away from his friend. They seemed to observe Tristan's face, noticing the attraction in his facial features alongside the beauty of his eyes. It contributed to the blush, making the colour deeper across Nathan's face.
The insistence towards him being a hero was meaningful to Nathan and caused his heart to continue fluttering. Although, the correction about being himself caused the vampire to flinch a little. There were thoughts taken towards the traits he used to push away everybody after he lost his older brother. In the pit of the hunter's stomach was a seed of guilt over the concept, causing him to hold Tristan tighter for making him witness the mask's social destruction. When the blond continued, stating that he found happiness in being in his company to the degree of feeling at home caused the blush on Nathan's face to deepen again. Those sweet words were significant when said by Tristan, almost as though some magic caused them to become more meaningful because of the speaker. Once again, Nathan found himself holding his friend tighter, a slight smile forming on his face as his confidence was rebuilt. The tightened grip from his friend was reassuring, making the vampire feel comfortable and safe within the embrace.
"... Thank-you, Tristan," he murmured softly. "By the way, I think you are perfect just the way you are. You're nice enough to be sweet to guys like me."
There was a deep desired to return the immense blushing to Tristan, almost as though it was necessity. All those self-conscious emotions that Nathan has possessed had been soothed by the delightfully sweet words of his friend and now it was time to return the favor. The ambiguous response about what occurred in the nightmare alongside the mentioning of Tristan's father caused the vampire to grow concern. His heart skipped a beat and a fresh frown came across the green-haired teen's face as he gazed at his friend. Unfortunately, the coughing interrupted Nathan's response as more worry flooded his mind over the health and safety of Tristan. Patience was taken as Nathan provided his friend with the opportunity to drink some of the water.
"No problem. It's better if you stay here and get better if your dad is going to force you to work," Nathan responded softly. "Also... are you sure you will be alright? You looked so scared and even in pain. Heck, you started crying because of it."
The vampire's eyes remained locked on his friend, concern marking his countenance. As he stared at Tristan, he remembered how his friend stated that he desired to remain here with him. A faint blush coloured Nathan's face as his thoughts lingered on the concept alongside the idea of his parents rarely being home. They obviously would not notice the house guest their son adopted and swearing the servants to secrecy was easy; most of their loyalty was in him anyways. Parental figures never gained the hunter's respect due to the actions of his own parents and already listened to the harsh words of Tristan's father; it fueled his decision.
"... If you want, you can stay here, Tristan. I really don't mind and it isn't like my parents would be home enough to notice anyways," Nathan offered.
Allowing Tristan's father to continue screaming about his son not being at work was not going to be permitted by Nathan. From the compliments exchange and his friend's behavior prior, he did not deserve those ruthless comments or to be yelled at in general. Once again, the vampire wrapped his arms tightly around the blond in hopes of the actions making the offer more desirable for him.
Tristan had noticed Nathan flinch and hugged him, it hadn't been meant to be hurtful. He was attractive to Nathan, the boy who would't let anybody close to him, he still was trying to figure out why that would be. He felt encouraged to explain his reason further, "My father for example is a fake. He acts like the nicest politest person in the whole word, but the only person to see the real him, is my mother and me and he is far from the person that you'd expect him to be. People would expect him to be upset if a worker, or his son, missed work. At my job, one doesn't simply take work off because the task it too important to let it sit around, so others have to put the work in." He explained, as if to give Nathan a side to his father that one might not expect from the man.
"That is the boss from at work. Though when dealing with people that you're trying to impress you sooth talk so that people like you, you make your enemy into your best friend so that you can benefit from them. At home, my father doesn't change but nobody at work knows of this. They believe he is strict, what they don't understand is how his strict methods work." He took a breath, "You are different, I see that you wanted to keep others away but that wasn't a real personality.... more like an effort to push others away to keep them from getting too close." A small smile formed on his face. "But your small flaw was that you saved the blond hacker that doesn't know the meaning of the word quitting. I truly believe deep down you liked having me around, else you would have done worse." He hoped he wasn't over stepping his words here, but he believed that Nathan would have harmed him if he had.
"Hell, I fainted and you bought me instead to rest in your bed. I'd say that your worthy of that hero title and so much more." He further explained that being around Nathan felt like he was at home, the words seemed to come to him and he was happy that Nathan seemed flattered over his truth. Tristan held Nathan close, never wanting to part from his friend again. When he heard Nathan murmured he blushed to his compliment. After he had taken the time to get rid of his cough, he couldn't help but feel slightly sicker. It was like his body was too exhausted to keep going. He felt relief when Nathan said that he could stay here so that he could get better so that he could avoid his father, the man to likely try and force Tristan to work when he got his hands on him. Nathan reminded him of how he looked, mentioning that he started crying from it.
He forced a brave face as he thought of an answer to give Nathan in return. All that talk of saying he believed Nathan had pushed others away to avoid getting close and he was trying to do it back. He was pulled from his thoughts, having failed to come up with an answer to give Nathan and found himself blushing to his friend agreeing that he could stay here. Though it would be weird to not have Nathan's parents' permission, he would cross that bridge when he got to it. He nodded his head in agreement, glad that Nathan had offered to let him stay. "The nightmare was just about how my father was, when he was at home." He gave a further explanation, his face expression grim at the idea of his father trying to find him. "Parents always think they are right, don't they?" He asked, changing the subject so that he wouldn't have to admit just how scared he was of his father. It would give him a chance to hear Nathan talk about his own.
When the brief explanation about the behaviors of Tristan's father began, Nathan's grip tightened. Listening to the deceptions that his friend stated his father made, which was a truth easily believed. After hearing the attitude the man's voice possessed when addressing the son, the vampire had no doubts in the words Tristan stated about the man. There were the slightest hints of joy in the fact that Nathan found himself capable of motivating his friend to speak further. Although, there sentences being stated were thoughts that concerned him further about the blond's well-being. The concept of his friend's workaholic father pushing him constantly suggested that the man himself gave zero thought towards his son's health. Gradually, as the sentences continued, Nathan found himself hating Tristan's father further and the notions of his own parents being strict did not aid the matter.
As the analyzing shifted towards the hunter's, Nathan's eyes widened as Tristan explained. The beginning described the scenario perfectly, giving the vampire the impression that his blond friend knew him incredibly well. Instantly, Nathan glanced away guiltily at the mentioning of the necessity he created from grief; he had underestimated his friend's knowledge. A vast majority of people believed the change was created as a result of him joining the TRS, but truthfully the disguise was to create solitude. At the mentioning of enjoying Tristan's company, a blush coloured the vampire's cheeks as he hugged his friend tighter to hide his face. Once again, his friend dubbed him a hero which caused the blush to deepen into a vivid red that painted itself across the bridge of his nose. Speech seemed impossible, the compliments that flowed smoothly from Tristan's lips stunning him; they possessed a special type of sweetness because his friend had stated them. There were a few moments of speechlessness until Nathan gained the courage to speak.
"... And you wonder why I think your amazing..." Nathan murmured quietly. A small smile marked the vampire's face. "... I feel you are far too kind to somebody like me, but... I appreciate it. This is what makes you amazing... because you called my bluff... That has never been the real me you could say. Also... I don't think saving you was a flaw... it was more of a blessing."
In a soft voice, the vampire confirmed Tristan's statement towards his sadistic side being a mere mask. Being held close was liberating as his friend's arms acted as a savoir from the torturous thoughts of loss and requiring to maintain appearances. The warmth found in the embrace created a comfortable atmosphere for Nathan as he snuggled in closer; the feeling was irresistible. There was a pause between answering his inquiry about the nightmare, which concerned the vampire immediately as he protectively held Tristan close. Immediately upon hearing the nightmare's topic, Nathan's grip tightened as he stiffened and spared a glance at his friend. The grim countenance alongside the vague explanation was already concerning the vampire, causing him to gently rub the blond's back. When the question reached Nathan's ears, it was ignored as the green-haired teen maintained his tight grip. For a few moments, the hunter remained silent as he kept rubbing Tristan's back and holding him close in hopes of coaxing more information.
A worried expression remained on the vampire's face as he silently hugged his precious friend. More disdain and hatred was being sparked towards Tristan's father as Nathan found himself desiring to inflict some pain on the man, although, he would not admit that.
"Yeah... I guess you can say that," he began, a shrug following. "Mine are just never around, but they definitely think it's alright to miss out on everything... I don't think they have ever been around for a single birthday party, holiday or even special event. Makes me wonder if they really care about me... It just makes me feel alone and find it hard to like them remotely when they aren't around."
There was a hint of surprise on Nathan's face due to his admittance of feelings related to his parents. The entire details were spared, but usually the vampire simply stated that he found them infuriating. His eyes drifted towards Tristan as he realized the amount of security he felt in telling the blond his opinions, almost as allowing him close suddenly transformed into something that could be allowed.
Tristan found himself blushing to Nathan hide his face while hugging him in return, having Nathan in his embrace was the best wish that he could have asked for. It felt somewhat like a dream, except his dreams were never as nice as this moment was, which meant it must have been real. Though he knew his friend had joined TRS, he didn't know exactly what his friend did there, but he would be asking that another time. For now, his focus was on his friend and trying to help him see what exactly he saw when he starting caring for his well being in return, seeing his friend as a hero that he longed to be as well. It wouldn't matter how many times Nathan would mention it, he found himself blushing from the compliment in return. According to his father, he was a good for nothing, if he couldn't get the work done within the deadline, so to hear Nathan compliment him now, it, it sort of felt like an accomplishment.
He hugged Nathan tightly when his friend continued talking, wanting nothing more than to have this hug last forever. Nathan mentioned that Tristan had called his bluff, though he was aware that Nathan had pushed him away, he wasn't completely sure how far his friend would have gone to try and keep him away. Would he really have harmed him? The question had continued lurking in his mind, but as far as he was concerned, that was in the past, there was no doubt in his mind that Nathan had no intention on hurting him now. Nathan's mentioning how his saving of Tristan had been a blessing over a flaw had made him blush even more. After giving Nathan more information about the nightmare and his father, he had changed the subject only to be met with silence. Perhaps it was a bad idea to try and change the subject about his father, but he wasn't quite ready to explain that his father was abusive so the memories had lingered to the point of causing nightmares.
Nathan was rubbing his back, he hugged back but remained silent as well. He felt like holding his breath during the dead silence but the desire was lost as soon as Nathan had spoken up again. Answering the question about his own parents. Hearing the comment about his parents being somewhat similar, Tristan hugged Nathan tightly. "I won't miss out on any of your birthdays..." He whispered, finding it somewhat amusing that he had always managed to get a frustrated Nathan if he caught him at home on his birthday, one of his few times of trying to encourage Nathan outside by the force of an alarm so that he could take him on a while goose chase for a birthday present that he wasn't complete sure if Nathan liking or not. Tristan continued embracing Nathan, feeling comfort in being wrapped in his friend's arms. The thoughts of earlier had returned, though he knew that Nathan had joined TRS, he didn't exactly know what he did there.
Only one way to find out. "So.... Nathan, I was wondering. I know you joined TRS, but what.... what exactly do you do there?" He asked, hoping to get some more details. As far as he was concerned, any position in TRS was a dangerous one, but he would need to find a new job if he planned on hide from his father a little bit longer, so he might as well find out what exactly Nathan did, somewhat desirous to copy him.
Closeness to Tristan was a comfort for Nathan as remained in the warmth of the embrace. There was serenity found within the moment as the vampire enjoyed hugging the blond while blankets maintained more warmth. The compliments generated a further attachment, making the hunter feel a necessity in returning those favors with similar truths. Difficult was nonexistent in the matter considering his thoughts about his closest friend and how remarkable he was. Finding flaws in Tristan was simply impossible to the vampire's belief, but should one be discovered he would happily accept it and continue admiring the blond. Although, there was something peculiar about the amount of closeness that Nathan desired with his friend. As the amount of time spent together turned more extensive there were thoughts given towards the enjoyment and how attractive his friend's appearance was.
Those numerous years pushing him away had caused him to ignore the handsome aspects of Tristan's appearance. Even the sickness that was currently plaguing his friend could not tarnish the beauty of his body. Personality and appearance were both perfect to the green-haired teen and merely pondering the concept caused a deep blush to colour Nathan's face. The vividly red flush of his face managed to reach the tips of the vampire's ears as realization began making the pieces fit together. There was an explanation for the skyrocketing heart rate and flustered demeanor, although, the hunter found himself unable to admit to the fact. The thoughts were shoved away as Nathan fixated his attention onto Tristan with desires to allow the bond to continue being created between them. The tightening of grip from the blond was comforting, a sense of safety and comfort transcending over the vampire through the small action.
The words whispered were touching to Nathan since a majority of family and friends did not provide attention for him during the special occasion. Each year, Tristan had been the outstanding exception and despite the wild chases, the vampire mildly appreciated the attentiveness that had been given towards the occasion. Throughout the years of yelling and threats, Tristan even possessed the kindness to still give him a gift.
"You never do... and I really appreciate that," Nathan murmured. "... I have missed a lot of yours I bet... sorry."
Relaxing in the embrace was becoming easier with every passing second, the reasoning behind hugging his friend no longer being to merely assist in the recovery of his illness. There was a craving towards this interaction, in having his arms wrapped around his blond friend. Eventually, his thoughts transitioned to the location that Tristan would be sleeping, praying that perhaps his human friend would consider remaining in his room; the idea of sleeping next to the attractive blond was overwhelmingly pleasant.
"Hey, Tristan... um... by any chance do you just want to stay in the same room as me? We could share the room..." Nathan began. "I-i mean my parents are less likely to come into my room over the guest ones, so you will likely be better off staying here... with me..."
Embarrassment flared upon inquiring, causing Nathan's face to flush a fresh shade of red while he embraced Tristan tightly in order to hide his face again. The desire to shower his friend with affection was growing alongside the anxious emotions that seemed to generate from just thoughts of Tristan. When inquired about his occupation, Nathan's nervousness fled as his face shifted into a serious expression.
"I'm a hunter," he stated bluntly.
No context was given to the statement since it involved the death of his beloved brother and Nathan was concerned over Tristan witnessing him being emotional. Concepts of the handsome man finding him pathetic were strangely frightening which made the vampire moderately self-conscious over displaying the bottled emotions from his brother's death. The necessity to keep the blond in close proximity remained and Nathan was slowly arriving to the conclusion of why.
Being wrapped in Nathan's arms felt so comforting, his friend's embrace made him feel like he could recover from anything his father chose to throw his way. He had a small smile on his face when Nathan murmured, "Don't be sorry.... every time I was with you made up for it." A honest answer, he wasn't sure how he had such courage in admitting such things to Nathan. Before he had been trying to smooth talk his friend earlier, taking things slowly so that his friend would grow tired from pushing him away, but now, he felt like he had a victory and he wanted nothing more than his friend to remain with him forever. Admitting his feelings now, he felt so nervous. Perhaps it was the fact that Nathan had taken him seriously, maybe because he shared the same feelings? It was hard to calm his beating heart when he continued feeling excited from enjoyment of being so close to his friend, his friend that he cared about that seemed to share similar feelings.
He was caught up in the moment of snuggling Nathan when his friend had made a suggestion, one that seemed like such a great idea. Though his friend sounded like he had a hard time suggesting it, by looking at his face he had noticed the blush on Nathan's face. "Would I ever." He hugged Nathan slightly tighter. "I don't know what'd I'd do if we were in different rooms...." He admitted, feeling somewhat clingy to Nathan. Though there was a small chance Nathan's parents would show up and notice him in Nathan's room, it didn't encourage him to want the guest room, no, it was either Nathan's room or being outside, there was no way in hell that he'd run the risk of being in a guest room alone. "No.... the option of being in another room doesn't exist." He answered after a moment of silence.
He wasn't going to let Nathan kick him out, not again. If worse came to worse, outside would be the best option and with any luck, Nathan didn't find it as an option so he wouldn't have anything to worry about. He had asked what Nathan did for TRS and was surprised by the answer, feeling somewhat jealous that Nathan was out there saving other people. What if somebody else had caught his attention, he felt like he had competition. Wait, he is a hunter? Isn't that one of the most dangerous parts about that job? Alright I've made up my mind, no more running after Terrors without me keeping my eye on you. I got your back. He thought to himself as he got comfy in Nathan's arms once more. He wouldn't admit that he had decided such things until he wasn't feeling sick anymore, so first would come rest, next would be meeting his father because he was in so much trouble.... than of course joining TRS.
Despite the consistent blushing from Tristan's comments, Nathan remained relaxed in the mutual embrace. The hug possessed felt like a sanction from outside world, allowing the young vampire to actually display his true personality. There was also the contribution of the flattering words that made his heart palpitate whenever the blond teen would state them. Then the sublime view of Tristan's face was already breath taking, making it incredibly difficult to sooth the nervous flutters of his heart or banish the red blush from his face. Perfection was gradually becoming the descriptive word for the current scenario; him laying with Tristan, caught in a heavenly embrace. When Nathan was informed that apologies were not necessary because his company on other occasions was redemption for missing birthdays, the vampire blushed immensely.
"... So sweet..." He murmured quietly on accident.
Resisting the charming blond has already proven difficult, but it was transforming to impossible from spending time with Tristan. The possibility of remaining in the position for infinity was a pleasant thought as Nathan found himself relaxing more with his friend's arms wrapped around him. As the embrace progressed to snuggling, the green-haired teen found himself blushing a vivid shade of red. Despite the flustered emotions it brought, the snuggling brought further comfort in the embrace as Nathan found himself automatically snuggling back. There was an adorable quality to Tristan desiring to proceed with the intimate action and it made the vampire feel cozy beneath the blankets. Shortly, Nathan began nestling up closer to his friend with the intention of maintaining the blissful close proximity. The agreement to share rooms caused blush to deepen in colour on the hunter's face, but a grin remained on his face over the concept.
The statements against being given a separate room, even going lengths to say the option was nonexistent, caused Nathan to blush deeper. Gradually, the red flush on his face managed to reach the tips of his ears, making his fluster more obvious. After a few moments of silence, the vampire eventually recovered enough to regain his voice.
"I'm glad the option doesn't exist," he mumbled softly.
When the words were said, the vampire's face returned to a deep red colour as he realized what he said. Those mysterious strings that appeared to tug him closer to Tristan had returned, insisting on making the comment. With them brought more desires of cuddling the blond through the nights and returning the blushing favor, almost as though those concepts suddenly mattered. Comprehending the emotions still remained immensely difficult for the green-haired man who had never felt his heart dance around or his face reach intense heats because of a plague of red colouring. Once again, Nathan's breathing was slowed as he tightened the embrace which strangely worked as a method to calm the palpitations of his heart. Shortly, his mind returned to the notion of his friend's sickness and the requirement to make him healthy again.
"Hey, Tristan, do you need anything? Like are you hungry or need some rest? You are sick after all," the vampire inquired gently.
Fending off the malicious germs that decided to make his friend ill was the current mission and once completed time could be taken to solve the mysterious brew of emotions. Attentively, Nathan listened for whatever his friend may request and was prepared to summon a servant should it be required.
Tristan smiled when he heard Nathan's murmur. There was nothing more pleasant than hearing a comment that hinted that Nathan was happy, it surprised him that he had been the cause of such a reaction. Nathan had nestled closer to him and he had blushed, even though it had been his idea to get the snuggling started. It was like a completely different Nathan, this one was the complete opposite, wanting nothing more than to be closer to him. His heart fluttered at the thought of having Nathan in his embrace forever, but the thought of rushing a possible forming relationship scared the shit out of him. As if the suggestion would scare Nathan away and he'd run the risk of possible rejection from his friend. No, for now, what ever type of friendship this was turning into, would be good enough. At least until he figured out the best way to ask his friend to be his forever. He was happy when he noticed Nathan's blush deepen from his comment about the separate room being nonexistent. To Nathan's comment, Tristan gave a gentle squeeze.
The worst that could happen is that he over stepped his welcome of being close to Nathan, but there was only one way to find out where that edge was at and he'd be damned if he didn't attempt to find it. "I'm glad it doesn't exist either." He whispered back, wanting Nathan to know that he meant every word. Silence filled the air and he felt Nathan's grip tighten in their embrace and he welcomed it with open arms. Nathan might have been calmed by the closeness but he couldn't help but feel slightly nervous from being so close to his friend. His dream was coming true and he wasn't sure how to control himself, his heart was beating fast from the nervousness, skipping a few beats because he was happy to be so close to Nathan. To Nathan's question, he tightened his grip slightly. "Rest is properly a good idea...." His voice spoke low as if fear had overtaken him. "But I dare not go back to sleep." If it wasn't a nightmare when he was awake, his father always managed to sneak his way into his dreams. There was never any peace unless he was away from that man. There wasn't any comfort in falling asleep because Nathan wouldn't be able to join him.
Thinking of the nightmare from before made him start shaking slightly. From the lack of sleep and the fact that he wasn't eating healthy in general, it was no wonder that his body was becoming weaker to the point of his sickness causing him to gain a fever, one that had been slowly growing but unnoticed until only a moment ago. He felt so hot and his head hurt..... he turned his head so that he could cough into his sleeve, clearly interested in fighting sleep at all costs, even though his body needed to rest up for a better chance to fight of his sickness.
There had never been a moment when Nathan's bed had felt this immensely comfortable to him. Usually it remained the trivial place for the weary teenager to spend hours slumbering until time arrive to be roused, however, now it was transforming into a warm, soothing place with Tristan beside him. Having his closest friend near was alluring and caused the vampire to begin snuggling in even closer. It was almost instinct to nestle up against the blond, he was simply enjoying it. Being safely in imprisoned in Tristan's embrace was delightful and peculiar since people rarely hugged him. It was reasonable for others to avoid embracing him considering the attitude he displayed towards them, but it appeared that his friend had broken through his shell. There were a few thoughts taken towards wondering if he would allow anybody else to capture him in an embrace, but the chances seemed unlikely; Tristan was special.
The gentle squeeze made the vampire, the blush upon his face deepened further since Nathan believed it symbolized that Tristan liked that he was against the notion of separate rooms. The confirmation was given in a whisper, making it obvious to the vampire that he made the blond happy with what he murmured, although, it made his blush and heart beat increase tenfold. There was no possibility that the green-haired teen would desire the concept because his friend was an improvement to his room's atmosphere. Instead of the usual grim ambiance, it shifted into a friendlier and happier environment. Even the silence contained hints of bliss from Tristan's presence; it was heavenly.
The instant that his friend's voice lowered, containing hints of fear, Nathan tightened the embrace again and gently rubbed Tristan's back to comfort him. It became obvious when the blond began shaking that the nightmare's claws continued to keep a firm grip on him. A worried expression entered the vampire's face when he regarded Tristan, his embrace remaining tight.
"It's okay... I promise I will keep you safe," he whispered. "I won't let anything hurt you, Tristan. It will be okay."
There was a soothing tone to Nathan's voice as he spoke softly to his closest friend in an attempt to calm him. Witnessing his friend become frighten from the dream was concerning to the vampire, his fears orbiting around the concept of Tristan putting his health at risk to avoid sleep. Thoughts pondered about how terrifying Tristan's father was to create this fear of falling asleep, but did not linger long. Gently, the green-haired teen rubbed his hand through the blond hair his friend possessed in hopes of maintaining his attention. It became obvious that Tristan's temperature had become higher, which made Nathan frown. The pale hand of the vampire slowly moved towards his friend's forehead for confirmation for the fever.
"Do you want to try eating then? I might ask them to bring you a damp cloth while they are at it," Nathan said.
He continued to softly rub Tristan's back while he waited for a reply with hopes it would relax one of the most important people in his life. Working towards making the blond healthy was a goal gaining more determination with each second. When the coughing started again, Nathan loosened the grip slightly to allow his friend room to cough.
Tristan felt comfort when Nathan had tighten his embrace even though he was going through a moment of fear from the nightmare prior. He knew the fear would pass, he just had to push himself until it did. It was never a quick process for him to force to forget about the nightmare or at the very least push it in the back of his mind until another time but being around Nathan gave him the desire to try and over come it quickly, not wishing to have his friend see him so shaken up by some stupid dream. It would mean admitting the cause behind the nightmare and he wasn't ready to share his life details with his friend, not wanting the desire of burdening him with his problems from home. Nathan's words caused him to blush deeper as he embraced him slightly tighter.
"Thank... you Nathan." He meant the comment but even with feeling comfort he wasn't ready to need that he needed that protection more than ever. Tristan had taken notice of the fever first but Nathan was quick to take notice of it too. Nathan's question was soothing as it proved that he cared about his well being. He shook his head slightly, not ready to try and stomach anything down just yet. I can't keep any secret from you, can I? He thought to himself with a small smile forming on his face, but it faded when he started coughing again. Nathan's grip had loosened around him and the coughing had lasted longer than last time. What is this strange feeling? I know I'm sick but I'm not used to having somebody care about my well being. If it hadn't sinked in before, the words of Nathan promising to protect him had crossed his thought process again.
He snuggled against Nathan again, "I'll be alright." He promised in return, the nightmare was horrible but he was safe from his father right now, he knew Nathan was right beside him. "I'm going to try and fall asleep again...." He was surprised by his own suggestion but he was finding it difficult to not drift off. Of course eating something would come once he no longer felt tired, knowing his bad luck, he might rush it and burn himself on accident.
The probability of releasing Tristan was decreasing the longer Nathan embraced him. Clinginess was growing, the vampire even snuggling his human friend for a few more moments. This close proximity was becoming addicting, the green-haired teen desiring more as time passed. Protecting this precious, wonderful man within his embrace was necessity, although, the vampire was growing concerned over his newly created addiction. The idea of Tristan getting injured or killed was haunting his mind, causing his embrace to tighten and his body to tremble slightly. Anxiety sparked over the concept which furthered his desires to protect Tristan, even from the menacing nightmares that tormented the blond's sleep. Gently, the vampire's hand continued rubbing his friend's back in a soothing rhythm to attempt to quiet those frights that lurked during slumber.
The sign of appreciated displayed in a thank-you caused a blush to faintly touch the vampire's cheeks as he continued hugging his friend. Another soft snuggle was given towards Tristan as Nathan used the opportunity to hide his flushed face from the beautiful eyes of his companion. Mentally, the green-haired teen was admitting his attraction towards his closest friend which increased the blushing. Dots were beginning to connect as the vampire slowly began arriving to the conclusion of his possible crushing on the adorable blond. Every aspect that Tristan possessed seemed to obtain a high quality of attraction to Nathan, going to lengths to be considered perfection. When the coughing started, the vampire peered down towards his crush with a worry glaze in his yellow eyes. Witnessing his friend under the duress of being ill was causing a mild heartache for Nathan which generated more determination in making his friend well.
When Tristan began snuggling him again, the vampire's face transformed into a deep red colour. Instinctively, Nathan found himself nestling up closer in response, his grip around his human friend tightening.
"You sure? If you need anything, you can always ask, Tristan," Nathan murmured softly.
A nod was the vampire's response when Tristan mentioned trying to fall asleep again. A protective embrace was maintained as Nathan quietly awaited for his crush to drift into a slumber with intentions of perhaps joining him. Waking up early was beginning to display its effects, leaving Nathan drowsy as he continued the hug with Tristan. The green-haired teen snuggled Tristan again, finding a comfortable position for sleep should it be warranted and patiently waited for his crush to sleep.
