Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Evelyn felt somewhat uncomfortable being at home when her brother couldn't even remember who she was, well he seemed not to favor being around her but she couldn't help but blame herself about that. She could recall the moments before his death, her parents had killed him and he appeared to not even remember her, seeing as she had failed to save him despite hearing his pleas, it would make sense that he wouldn't want anything to do with her.Or maybe it was more of a fear, thankfully Umberto seemed to have things handled so she had left home for some fresh air for a bit. As she wandered around town, she couldn't help but feel a great need in getting some money for herself so she had wandered downtown until she came to the perfect spot where she could steal and less likely being caught. There was a guy, exiting a bar. It was easy to tell that he was drunk, so he became her next victim.
As he wandered away from the bar, she crept behind him, once in reach she slipped her hand into his pocket to steal his wallet, careful to back away so it would seem like she wasn't there. She would then slowly creep away until they had distance between them. She would remove the cash from his wallet and toss the wallet on the ground in an alleyway. She wandered the streets before pausing in front of a cafe. She was hungry, though she normally spent her money on things she needed and ate at home. She was about to walk away before her stomach rumbled, not ready to return home she reached out to open the door before slipping inside. She waited in line, looking over the menu to decide what she would like to order.
Alida sat on one of the long sofa’s that were at the outskirts of the Crescent Moon cafe, mostly reserved for the social gatherings of friends, reading, or networking. Mahogany irises gazed out amidst the interior of the local cafe, silently browsing over the various species who currently occupied the eatery. The Sheppard’s daughter, Ivory, had bailed on her only a handful of minutes prior, leaving her isolated and alienated within the foreign city of Lorsette. [break][break] The mixture of population was certainly bizarre for the eighteen year old, as she had grown up in a city that had been predominantly hell species. Ivory had convinced her to make the bad decision of ordering a deliciously unhealthycold frappe that had been topped with ice cream in a chocolate drizzle. She had taken a spoon to it, impishly indulging in the sin of an overly sugary treat. Ah well. [break][break] A deceptively human-looking redhead was the next person who entered the cafe. Alida didn’t bother to advert her gaze as she watched the girl step up to the counter to begin ordering. Currently, beyond the two of them, there seemed to be some sort of shifter species eating at one of the tables with a tablet in front of them, their ears and tail giving them away. And then what she would presume was a reaper, as waves of dread and fear seemed to be exuding from him from where he sat at the opposite end of the cafe, drinking a black coffee. [break][break] What a weird city Lorsette was.
Evelyn was still looking over the menu when the person in front of her had finished at the cash register. She noticed moment and stepped forward. "I would like hot chocolate and a donut, please." She lifted her arm, extending it out to hand the cash over to the cashier before waiting for her change and receipt. She then moved aside to wait for her food and drink. Within a few minutes she was handed a paper cup that held her hot chocolate and a paper bag with her donut in it. She turned to look around for a place to see. There were a few spots open but she wasn't really interested in sitting at a table. She then noticed Alida looking straight at her, she looked away, as to avoid possible staring. The sofa's looked rather comfy and Alida was sitting there all by herself too. Slowly she glanced back towards Alida with the intention of going over there to ask if she could join her on the sofa.
Not to bother her with conversation, just not wishing to intrude if she planned on having that area all to herself. After the long day she was having, she wanted nothing more than to relax and what better way to do that then to sit on the sofa when you didn't have the desire to head home to do it there. As soon as she became in ear reach she spoke, "Excuse me, would it be alright if I sit here with you?" She saw no harm in asking, hoping Alida wouldn't have a problem with her being here. Though if she had, she was currently debating on if she would just sit here or anyway or find another spot to sit. She really didn't want to sit at a table if she could help it.
While she had been watching the redhead for a prolonged moment, her gaze had ventured to sweep across the room in a casual manner. However, there was simply nothing interesting to watch, and so only a handful of seconds had passed before her mahogany gaze had moved back to the counter, the redhead, and the man taking her order. Of course, as soon as the “human” girl’s attention had drawn to her, red eyes standing out on her features, Alida politely averted her gaze and took another spoonful of ice cream and coffee.
Truth be told, she hadn’t expected the girl to single her out within the cafe, stopping before the couch loungers to ask if she could sit with her. Alida had to forcefully restrain herself from giving the girl a raised eyebrow. And oh, it was hard. Instead, her lips spread into what could only be described as a strained smile, and a quirky tilt of her head. “Uh, sure?” She decided, quite perplexed, yet instantly suspicious as all hell.
Evelyn couldn't help but feel slightly relived when she heard Alida say sure to her, it just meant that she wouldn't have to sit down when she wasn't welcomed in the first place. It was too late for Alida to take back that comment now. She slowly moved in front of the couch, taking a seat. Her back melted against the couch, finding it rather relaxing as she leaned against it. That is much better.... So comfy unlike sitting at those tables over there. She thought to herself, unsure of what to say she remained quiet as to avoid possibly bothering Alida. Slowly she set her cup between her legs as to avoid losing her grip on it as she slowly reached into her bag for the donut, making sure to hold the napkin around it firm so that she wouldn't get anything sticky on her hand.
She would then proceed to setting the bag on her lap and slowly placing the donut to her lips to take small bites. The donut was just so sweet and her stomach was slowly becoming satisfied, having been hungry only moments prior. As soon as the donut was gone, she threw her trash in the bag before rolling it into a ball, she then proceeded to picking her cup up to take a sip of her hot chocolate, just minding her own business.
Well, this was certainly… awkward. Alida lightly tapped one of her fingers against her cheek as she remained leaned forward, her elbow propped up on one leg. She wasn’t at all used to this bizarre sort of set-up and she half expected to find some of the girl’s friends shuffling in through the front door to join her. The silence was so strained and tense that the sound of the girl’s every move, every crinkle of her bag, every bit, and sip of her drink seemed to be amplified by tenfold. Until, finally, Alida just snickered on a laugh and couldn’t take it anymore.
“Uh, I’m Alida by the way?” She half-laughed, feeling quite incredulous as she introduced herself. Men were the ones who usually targeted her, and so she supposed she was naturally less wary of females. “You look about my age. Or, well, somewhere around there, I think.” She added with a flippant gesture of her hand, although she didn’t offer it in handshake. Even if she was less wary, she still wasn’t stupid.
Haha, I'll have to find the perfect timing for it to happen! I'm surprised by how well they interacted all on their own, without the need for spilling of drinks. xD
Evelyn had been minding her own business when the sudden sound of light laughter filled her ears. Alida said her name and she couldn't help but look back at her slightly confused. They hadn't started talking, not that she minded the silence or conversation. It was just to her, it seemed somewhat out of the blue, perhaps it was because they were sitting here together instead of having other company join them. "Evelyn." She answered, nodding slowly when Alida mentioned how they looked around the same age of each other. "I agree..." She answered, unsure of what to say. They had a light conversation but it seemed to come to an end because she failed to come up with words to make it last longer. Though it was interesting that Alida hadn't reached out to shake her hand, not that she had offered it, it was just a usual gesture and Alida hadn't even attempted, not that she was any better. Maybe she knows I steal and doesn't want to get too close? She thought to herself, slowly straightening herself as she leaned against the sofa once more.
Alida’s natural disposition was to be suspicious of everyone, considering the past she had endured. In fact, it was a bit irksome to know that the human appearance and female gender of the girl was enough to let quite a bit of a guard down. Although, it was true that most of her trouble had come from guys and the hell species. Plus, Ivory’s family and her mother continually referenced the city of Lorsette as different than Corner Brook; filled with diversity and acceptance. Eh, but it wasn’t exactly something she had ever experienced, so she couldn’t even fathom the idea.
The redhead introduced herself as Evelyn, but wasn’t much for conversation. Her lack of engagement merely spiked Alida’s suspicion — if she wasn’t good at socializing then why the hell would she choose to sit next to her on the couch? Was she targeting her? Did she have some sort of red target printed on her forehead? Something that gave her away that she wasn’t aware of? If anything, Lorsette felt even more dangerous than Corner Brook because now she had to watch out for both hell and heaven species. Ivory and her family were the exception in society, and she’d believe as much until she was proven otherwise.
She was too hostile for her own good: “So, uh, is there a —,” She started but nearly sucked in her words, her heart leaping within her throat, as a black shadow mass suddenly sprung from the rug at her feet and loomed over her. With her heart in her throat, she leapt to her feet, her drink completely forgotten. It fell forward and landed on Evelyn beside her, upside down, ice cream and iced coffee soaking through her clothes.
“Shit! What?!” Alida cringed, her heart slamming so fast in her chest that it was actually painful. As quickly as the shadow had manifested, it had gone. Unknown to Alida was the fact that it was the work of a trickster Kitsune who had used illusion manipulation for a little fun. The shadow had appeared to Alida alone, and no one else, making it appear as though she had leapt from her seat and had flung her drink accidentally onto the girl beside her.
At the window, a white fox with five tails watched and giggled, looking around to see if it could use its illusion magic over another cafe customer.
Alida’s gaze instantly riveted away from Evelyn, not noticing or perhaps caring that she had spilled her drink on her, instead to look straight at the reaper who was still seated at the far end of the cafe, by the window, drinking his coffee and going over notes.
Evelyn heard Alida start on a question but because she didn't finish it, she had no idea what she was asking and didn't bother asking what she meant, figuring that she would have continued the sentence if she had felt comfortable saying it. Alida was suddenly standing, startling her in the process, coffee suddenly being flung in her direction, knocking her own cup in the process. Both drinks spilling all over her pair of pants. If it wasn't the fact it was hot, she might have been slightly more calm on the whole incident happening. "What, the hell...." She mumbled, slightly frustrated that Alida seemed to have flung her drink at her. It had been uncalled for, even though she chose to steal for a living. Suddenly she grabbed the empty cup of coffee and her now empty cup of hot chocolate. She'd stand up before reaching out she'd shove the coffee cup into Alida's hands, releasing whether she really had a grip on it or not, before moving away from her, shoving her trash in the trash can before walking towards the bathroom. She had to clean off the stain from her pair of pants as much as possible.
Alida didn’t know enough about Reapers or their abilities, but prejudice had her instantly assuming it must have been him. The redhead beside her nearly forgotten, she would have stormed off to confront the black-haired man at the far end of the cafe — if the girl hadn’t suddenly stood, shoving her iced coffee back at her; or what was left of it.
Nothing was left of it. The action certainly distracted Alida from the spike of aggression that had once consumed her, causing the honey blond to falter as she looked toward her cup and then the girl — what was her name again? Evelyn. The girl had coffee and ice cream spilled all down her pants, so much so there was no saving that. The sight instantly caused her to cringe, guilt finally catching up to her.
Was this some sort of prank? Or was she being targeted in much the same way she had been back in Corner Brook? She couldn’t wrap her head around a Reaper targeting her, unless he had somehow figured out what she was. Otherwise, appearing as a demon, most Reapers and undead species weren’t as prejudice against the Hell spawn.
“U-Uh…,” She hesitated, desperately looking between the retreating girl and the Reaper at the other end of the cafe. She had finally caught his attention, and he arched an eyebrow at her. But, with a tch under her breath, she quickly turned on her heel and decided to head after the girl.
“Hey, Evelyn!” She called out as she walked into the girl’s washroom, seeing Evelyn at the sink trying to mend the damage to her clothes. “Sorry about that, I’m not really sure who attacked me or why?” She admitted as she headed over. “I thought it was the Reaper, but… yeah. Scared the shit out of me, and…” She motioned toward the sopping mess that graced the other girl, another cringe coming to her features. “Uh, well… I can… give you some money for a new pair?”
Evelyn had heard her but kept walking away, too focused on wanting to get the stain out of her pants to care about anything else right at the moment. She was in the middle of trying to scrub the stain from her pants when she heard Alida. It came as a slight surprise to hear her claim that somebody had tried to attack her and she was unsure on why that would be. "I wouldn't know, I didn't see anything." She mumbled, determined as ever to get the stain out, though it wouldn't budge and she sighed in frustration. Hearing Alida claim it had scared the shit out of her, earned another sigh. I'm not sure if I believe her but it does sorta make sense. She thought to herself, debating on her next choice of words. "Don't worry about it, I guess I overreacted in assuming you had flung your drink on me on purpose." She answered, attempting to make it sound convincing.
She paused her scrubbing when she heard Alida offer to give her money for a new pair. Nobody had offered that before, or at the very least it was rare. Though it was a nice gesture, she normally stole for what she needed unless Umberto or Vylad was nice enough to provide for her. "Are you sure?" She didn't want to sound desperate, it wasn't like this was a new pair, it shared some holes on it after all. "I mean you really don't have to do it, I mostly just didn't want to wear it." She mumbled, only stealing when the clothing become the point of rags. She wasn't sure if she should feel happy or uncomfortable with the gesture of somebody buying a new pair for her.
At first the girl seemed rather pissed but faltered after hearing her explanation of what had happened. “Don’t worry about it, I guess I overreacted in assuming you had flung your drink on me on purpose.” She admitted, and Alida was actually shocked. That showed clearly on her face as she stared at her from beside the public restroom’s sinks. What? That was the most ridiculous thing she had ever —
“Are you sure?” Evelyn brightened up considerably by her offer, however, and looked genuinely appreciative that she had been kind enough to offer money for a replacement. Alida simmered down. After all, it had been a kind of crazy thing to happen. She wasn’t even sure why the guy had attacked her, if it had been him at all. The only thing that made sense to her was prejudice, but reapers generally weren’t prejudice against demons. “I mean you really don’t have to do it, I mostly just didn’t want to wear it.”
“Yeah, I mean, I did literally ruin your pants, unintentional or not.” Alida pointed out and brought one of her hands to the back of her neck, cringing again at the damage of both of their drinks combined. “Hell, if you want, we can go get something right now at the shop next door.” She added, but then belatedly wondered if that was a bit much. There was a difference between offering cash and offering to tag along.
She hadn’t meant it like some sort of hang out session, it had simply slipped from her mouth because the girl said she didn’t want to be stuck in them. It was completely understandable. She would have offered her a spare if she had one, but she wasn’t in the habit of toting extra clothes around.
Evelyn gave a small sigh, though it was true that her pants were ruined she wasn't sure if it was really all that required to buy new ones.... It was one thing to steal it, another when somebody offered to buy a new pair. "I appreciate it." She answered in return as she paused with her attempt to cleaning her pants off. "I'll let you choose since your paying." She answered in return, not wanting to become any trouble. She was already being offered a new pair of pants, the last thing she wanted to do was risk Alida changing her mind. "Can we go right now?" She asked, then felt embarrassed slightly because to her it had sounded like she was in a rush. Despite wearing stained pants, the last thing she wanted to do was appear impatient. She was remained silent as she waited for Alida to answer, hoping that they'd still be able to go shopping. If not, the option to steal was still on the table in her book. Of course it would have to happen when the public was asleep as to avoid being caught easily.
“Can we go right now?” Evelyn asked her rather abruptly, but Alida felt relieved to know that her comment hadn’t been taken the wrong way or as too pushy, given the situation. A smile flourished across the eighteen year old’s sharply feminine features and with a thumb point over her shoulder, toward the doors leading out of the restroom, she returned casually enough; “Sure, yeah, I don’t see why not.”
Turning, she stepped into place beside the red head, hands delving into the front pockets of her tight black jeans when they headed out. She was aware that even still, it wasn’t the best option. The poor girl still had to roam around for a bit in wet, sticky, pants until she was able to pick out a pair that she liked as the replacement.
“And you know what? I’m sure the store won’t mind if you kind of slip into a temporary pair of pants until you find something you like,” She added, thinking herself quite brilliant as she came up with the idea. It certainly made her grin.
Although, admittedly, as soon as they stepped back into the cafe, the mirth slipped from her features and she found herself warily glancing around the interior. The reaper from before had conveniently left the premises, and so she had little answers as to what had happened to her and who had done it.
Evelyn was pleased to see Alida smiling at her question, happy to hear that they'd be able to go right now. She moved to stand beside Alida before reaching out to open the door, expecting Alida to go first before joining her back in the main entrance of the cafe. "You think so?" She didn't do much shopping so she wasn't aware on if they would be okay with allowing her to temporary wear another pair of pants or not. She paused in her steps to see that Alida appeared to be glancing around, curiously she whispered, "Are you alright?" The last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to them but at the same time, Alida glancing around was somewhat worried some. If she had been attacked it seemed like it would only be a matter of time before it possibly happened again.
If it hadn't been true, well she was having difficulty believing that Alida would lie to her just to set her up, even though they had only just met. Slowly she would walk towards the front door, reaching out to open that for Alida as well, hoping she would exit first before following after her. The sooner they got out of the cafe, the sooner she believed it would be best for everybody. "So which store where you thinking?" She asked, not wishing to assume because there were a few down this street. She'd allow Alida to lead the way, as to avoid possibly going into the wrong store.
