Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
“I…,” Evelyn sounded uncertain and it drew Alida’s gaze back to her, surprised to find her quinting over at the pants she had pulled off the shelf. “I think that’s my size.” Alida looked at her incredulously and then laughed for good measure, finding it pretty hilarious.
“Oh really?” She snorted, and laughed some more, but managed to calm herself back into a straight face by the time Evelyn suggested that she try them on to see. Realizing then that perhaps the girl actually didn’t know what her size was — which she found weird — she gave a nod of her head. Well, looking her over, Alida realized belatedly that the outfit she currently had on looked as though it had been worn down quite a long time ago.
M-Maybe she was really poor? And here she was laughing at her. Alida visibly cringed at the idea. Evelyn apologized about getting side-tracked on the fancy blouses right away, and Alida gave her a genuine smile in return.
“Uh, yeah, we can… totally get you one of those.” She offered awkwardly, now feeling this strange sense of guilt sweltering away in the pit of her stomach. Volos. “Y-Yeah! We’ll totally get you a nice outfit.” She rambled on and motioned for her to follow her to the changing room as they went.
Nicolas insisted that she head in but to her surprise he actually ventured into the clothing store first. Alida wondered in mild bafflement as she headed in after him, if the male had actually intended to go clothing shopping the entire time. Well, not like it mattered if he wanted to shop or not. Actually, Alida found herself rather curious as to what sort of things he’d pick out. “You have to admit, I showed you a pretty sweet place.” Nicolas boasted and Alida chuckled.
“Yeah, I can’t argue with that.” She chimed, with a wide grin. “This place is totally right up my alley.” She turned and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Glad I entrusted you with the job.”
The Halo Crown mall seemed to be getting progressively more crowded, and as they ventured down the second floor, passing by shops and the railing which overlooked the first floor, Alida wondered what the time was. With the influx of traffic she had to wonder if school had recently gotten out.
One clothing store in particular stood out to Alida as they advanced toward it, and with a grin spreading across her lips, she immediately eyed Nicolas wondering if she had figured it out. The dirty blond had actually somehow gotten lost to his own thoughts and almost walked completely by the store, stopping only a few steps after the door to turn and face the display window. “Well here it is,” Nicolas pointed out.
“I thought you were going to keep going for a moment there,” Alida joked. “Tour me around the whole mall, that kind of thing. Y’know.” She grinned at him, hands in the front pockets of her tight black jeans.
“It makes sense. Hopefully you’ll be able to find out,” Evelyn said as the two stepped into the small clothing shop. Alida peered over at the red head for a brief moment, noticing how she had immediately gone to one of the clothing racks that held some shirts. Although Evelyn didn’t appear to be genuinely concerned over what had happened to her in the café, Alida was glad that the girl at least believed her. She could still recall the shock she had felt when Evelyn had admitted prior that she had thought she’d purposely thrown her drink on her.
“I’m not really sure how I can at this point,” She admitted and brought a hand through her hair as she made a bit of a face. But, just as quickly she brushed the subject aside, and the reality that she would never know, to move on in the conversation. “But, all right, here we are. We can get you in some new “borrowed” pants right away, no problem I think.”
She grinned and picked up a pair of slacks off a rack next to her. “What size are you?” She inquired in what could be considered an insensitive way, seeing as some women were uncomfortable with that subject.
“Are you alright?” Evelyn asked, and when Alida faced the redhead she could see a curious puzzlement that had taken over her features. Although, the last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to the issue and, thankfully, Evelyn seemed to think one and the very same as she turned to open the door and allow them both to head out of the cafe.
Alida’s gaze warily slid across the faces of the other species that passed by them to enter the cafe or head further down the sidewalk, although made a point not to keep eye contact. Honestly, she had no idea what had happened or why. A little white fox also sat in the window of the cafe, perched in between two flowerbeds, its tail swaying playfully back and forth, but aside from a brief glance, Alida didn’t think anything of the creature.
“So which store were you thinking?” Evelyn questioned her after the brief moment of silence that had stretched between them, and Alida took it upon herself to pick up her pace in order to step in beside the human-looking female. It was probably just as stupid of her to be so trusting of the random redhead she had met at the cafe. For all she knew, she could have been working with someone and this was all an elaborate plan of some kind…
Banishing the thoughts with a shake of her head, Alida drew one of her hands through her long blond hair and began to look around. “Uh, let’s see…,” She murmured as she took in the stores on the block. “This is the one, right here.” It just so happened to be only two stores down from the Crescent Moon cafe, which caused Alida to grin as she stepped forward and this time held the door open for her “friend”.
She supposed she did secretly wish for the best, as it was kind of neat being able to hang out with someone else. “And yeah, I’m alright,” She belatedly answered as she stepped into the clothing shop after Evelyn. “I was just… wondering what happened, I guess. Or why it had happened.” Her previous thoughts made her feel paranoid now that the girl would somehow get the impression she was “suspicious” of her. When, really, she was, uh, trying not to be. She was trying to be optimistic about the entire thing. Or stupid. Ignorant. Naive. Yeah, definitely naive.
“You do realize you can do that anywhere right?” Nicolas’ enthusiastic remark trailed behind her as she exited the elevator and turned to give him a brief glance. “Just go find a cliff, whip out your wings and presto, you adrenaline junkie.”
Alida laughed at that remark, while Nicolas snickered and plunged her to her death via hand gesture. The comment was a little sobering, considering she hadn’t been able to comfortably reveal her wings in Lorsette yet, let alone do any kind of flying. While she had grown up in Corner Brook, despite the bullying and prejudice, Alida found it interesting to look back at herself now and realize that she had been proud of her wings. Now, however, while she didn’t feel ashamed, per se, she didn’t feel comfortable. It was the facade she had adapted herself into as a means to prevent racism against her.
Despite all this, Alida grinned when Nicolas called “left” and pointed her in the right direction. Truthfully, now that they were actually up here, she was looking forward to this store. “Cool, can’t wait to see what kind of clothing shop this turns out to be.” She enthused with a cocky grin.
“Can we go right now?” Evelyn asked her rather abruptly, but Alida felt relieved to know that her comment hadn’t been taken the wrong way or as too pushy, given the situation. A smile flourished across the eighteen year old’s sharply feminine features and with a thumb point over her shoulder, toward the doors leading out of the restroom, she returned casually enough; “Sure, yeah, I don’t see why not.”
Turning, she stepped into place beside the red head, hands delving into the front pockets of her tight black jeans when they headed out. She was aware that even still, it wasn’t the best option. The poor girl still had to roam around for a bit in wet, sticky, pants until she was able to pick out a pair that she liked as the replacement.
“And you know what? I’m sure the store won’t mind if you kind of slip into a temporary pair of pants until you find something you like,” She added, thinking herself quite brilliant as she came up with the idea. It certainly made her grin.
Although, admittedly, as soon as they stepped back into the cafe, the mirth slipped from her features and she found herself warily glancing around the interior. The reaper from before had conveniently left the premises, and so she had little answers as to what had happened to her and who had done it.
Alida tilted her head up to watch as the glass elevator descended to their level and with a chime of notification the steel doors slid open. Nicolas ventured in and Alida followed, moving to grab the hand rails and peer out the glass windows that stretched from ceiling to floor. “So how are you liking Lorsette anyways?” Pretty boy asked as the elevator began its ascent, and Alida briefly glanced toward him before looking out to peer down at the first floor below them. Even after all of these years, there was some childish part of her that still lived on and loved riding in glass elevators.
However, Nicolas next comment brought a soured expression his way, which flourished into a smile, as she thwacked him on the arm. “Not quite,” She laughed. “Y’know, whenever I ride one of these things I always get this urge to leap off the level and skydive to the floors down below.”
She glanced up toward the third floor of the mall as she added. “Like, from up on the third floor. This floor would only be for pansies,” She dismissed with a wave and was the first to head out of the elevator when it arrived to the second floor.
“You… no, don’t say another word.” He interjected and stopped her from sealing the nail into the coffin, but he couldn’t stop the grin that spread across her features or the way she teasingly leaned forward as she followed him, moving her eyebrows up and down at him while they headed on through the mall. “I don’t hit on girls… I…” He faltered, Alida assumed from her constant and persistent teasing, and changed tactics. “You know what, do you want me to show you these shops or not?”
He actually looked away from her, and she chuckled, finally straightening up as he added one last comment; “Because if you do you better be nicer to your host.”
“Fair point,” She decided, but had to press her lips firmly together for a moment to prevent herself from laughing. When she was certain she could contain herself, she added; “Do lead the way.”
She was a little surprised by his powerful reaction to her teasing remark and the flair of energy that became apparent within him. Oh, had her comment riled the little beast up? Alida internally snickered, finding their bantering quite entertaining, if she were to be completely honest.
“I’d put that to a challenge, but I don’t hit girls.” He smugly and cockily replied, and Alida was suddenly all smiles, both her brows raising high.
“Oh?” She asked, her grin never fading. “Don’t you mean… hit on girls?”
She purposely brought her hand through her hair and gave him a look, raising both of her eyebrows as she brought one hand to delve into the front pocket of her jeans while her other drew her hair over her shoulder and down her chest.
“You’re not supposed to hit them,” She supplied with a tsk. “That wouldn’t be very gentlemanly of you, now would it?”
Nicolas went off in a heavy chant of no’s and scrambled as quickly as he could to free himself of her hold around his neck. Stumbling backward, it didn’t seem to be enough distance for the dirty blond, as he continued backing up while giving her a wary glance, and then brought his hands up to un-tousel his hair. “You’re not allowed. You and your pretty boy, cute boy, punches and now whatever that was.”
His remark caused her smirk to widen, and she placed her hands on either of her hips as she stared across the way at him, a silent challenge and mirth dancing in her eyes. “You make me feel like some kind of kid, jeez.” He complained in the meantime.
“I haven’t really seen your manly side,” She joked in retaliation and gave an exaggerated shrug of her shoulders, and lift of her arms.
Nicolas stopped dead in his tracks, his gaze riveting back to her. “That sounds disgustingly painful.” The face he gave her said it all, and she actually burst out laughing. Even though it had honestly happened to her, and had been a horrible blight upon her life, something about the ridiculously disgusted and cringing facial features of Nicolas just caused her to… laugh.
“Sometimes you are just too cute,” She purposely teased him, tears lightly clinging to the corner of her eyes, as she reached out to wrap one of her arms around his neck and pull him down, ruffling his mop of dirty blond hair with her other hand in a light-hearted “noogie”.
“Yeah, there’s a few other places in here that I’ve found.” Nicolas’ dark brown eyes bore into her for a hard moment before he gave a shrug of his shoulders and turned. “Here, I’ll show you.”
Alida cocked one eyebrow as she watched him, mutely, and fell into step beside him. Wow, he seemed to be pretty pissed about this, huh? It must have really brought up some nasty memories involving him and his family, and the closet he had been trapped within.
“Tell you what,” She supplied as she continued to side-eye him. “A bastard at school shattered the bone lining in one of my wings.” She thought she’d share a personal story in return, since he was being all broody over it. “I had a lot of trouble in school, got into a lot of fights.”
