Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Work was perpetually difficult for Persephone, especially when the target possessed some definition of skill when it arrived to the art of combat. The situation transformed into a particularly aggravating one after discovering the heightened senses of her familiar target detecting her with a frightening ease. Arriving on scene resulted in a battle occurring, the nymph displaying her intense skill over water manipulation. Ice barricades alongside shields accompanied by a brutal offense had proved Persephone superior to the familiar, although, wounds were gained in the altercation. A gash reached across her forehead, blood dribbling down from the open injury, forcing the petite woman to wipe the blood away with the back of her hand. Red smeared across the pale surface of hand, hiding the dirt that covered her calloused hands. There was deep cut across her left shoulder, travelling down in a diagonal line.
The clothing around the wound was damp with blood, making a dark stain around the rip through the cloak. On the woman's right side remained the most heinous injury, displayed in a slash towards her side. Deep, and gushing with precious red liquid hidden beneath a layer of ugly grime. Silently, Persephone crouched over the deceased body, breathing deeply as she reached for the fringe of her cloak, steadily slashing her dagger through the material. A long strip was created, the woman standing to her full 5' height before wrapping it around her waist to cover the wound to her side. Clearing away the filth could be a steady effort once she returned to the precious safety of her home. The pain was evident, her body aching from the nasty injuries and the assortment of ugly, black bruises. Time was limited, people bound to enter the room shortly after the intense brawl quieted down; their fear kept them away.
Hastily, the dagger was sheathed as the woman turned towards the window. Despite her injured, she rushed towards the window and smoothly jumped across to the opposing balcony. An intense pain sparked when Persephone leaped across the gap, slowly pulling herself up with several grunts of effort. She steadied herself, jumping upwards to narrowly grab hold of the roof edge as she slowly pulled herself upwards. There was a pause as she breathed for a few moments, managing to steady herself on her feet. The nymphs eyes narrowed as she suddenly moved forward in surprising soft footsteps. Speedily, she jumped the gaps between the dilapidated buildings of the outskirts, ignoring the rising pains in her body. Weariness made its presence, pleading for the assassin to cease the reckless running across the rooftops.
Unfortunately, the woman remained stubborn and continued her expedition across the rooves. Ducking into the buildings then escaping was easier to Persephone; mundane entrances suggested the possibility of ambush. These extensive trecks across the tiles tops allowed for sudden abandonment of the initial path with the assistance of her water manipulation. The height advantaged allowed the woman to get an entire view of the situation, although, the evening was thankfully quiet despite her murder. The target was executed inside of a section of Lorsette that cared little for criminal activity, making escape easy. Some distance was creating, Persephone slowing her escape to slide down an easily accessible ladder onto the asphalt. Her home was growing closer, resulting in the necessity to completely disappear from the radar to enter the building she lived inside of. The shadows remained her ally as she weaved through the tight alleyways, holding the edges of her cloak close.
The night air did not perturb the nymph, but rather she desired to keep the nasty injury to her side hidden. A dark splotch had formed around the injury, the sudden exercise resulting in the bleeding strengthening. The grey eyes of the short female wandered around the alleyway, surveying the area. Once pleased with the surroundings, she quietly slipped through the back door, locking it behind her. She entered the kitchen, her eyes analyzing the familiar surroundings. When morning arrived, she would provide a report for the Hellspawn on the completion of the mission; Phoenix could hopefully appreciate that.
"Kayla?" Persephone called with a slight tremble to her voice.
The pain of her injuries was rising, resulting in the short woman slumping into the nearest chair at the small table occupying the corner of the kitchen. Slowly, the nymph's fingers began working towards unravelling the temporary bandage, revealing the horrifying condition of her side. Witnessing the state of the wound caused Persephone to flinch as she flicked open the container secured to her waist. Water flowed, the woman manipulating it towards her damage side to begin the cleaning process.
Kayla had made dinner for herself...alone like most nights were spent as Percy had gone out on a job. It had been like this for many years now, ever since she started to live with Percy and her father. They would always leave at night to go do some sort of job while she stayed home and either cooked them meals or just did some repairing of their clothes. It turns out this night was like every other. After cooking, she rapped all the food for Percy and put it in the fridge as she sat around knitting some of clothes back together and simple stuff to benefit her dear Percy. Everything she did was for her after all. After finishing some of the more mundane stuff, she would either just sit around reading a book or two or watch t.v. Either way what ever she did was just to pass time until Percy came home.
Kayla was all too smart and didn't see why she was taken in by Percy and her father, after all she did believe her father saying her parents went on a long trip...when in reality they were dead. Kayla still has no idea that they were dead. She either thought they were still gone on her trip or they just left her. Not that it mattered to the light blue haired girl as Percy and her father treated her right in giving her a place to live and a purpose. To heal any wound they had and to be of use. And that she did. She quickly mastered her skills as a healer. She mastered all types of more house ridden skills like knitting and cooking for the two. So even if her parents were never coming back, she could take care of herself at least.
Hours upon Hours past as Kayla waited and waited for her Percy to come home. As she laid on the couch with a book she had placed on her chest with it wide open, she was just about to pass out as it was getting really late when the sound of a doorknob turning and the door opening then closing woke her up. Her eyes instantly blinked open and she got up. As she heard the familiar voice. As she skipped her way through the house to get to the kitchen humming peacefully as she did. Seeing Percy was the joy she was blessed everyday. As she turned the corner to go into the kitchen she saw Percy at the corner table looking more pale even if she was already pale, it didn't look right. Kayla didn't say anything like she usually did when she came home. All she did was grab a rag that was sitting on top of the counter and rush over to her love.
She instantly put pressure on the huge gash that was bleeding quite bad. "What the fuck Percy." she yelled out to her. Kayla rarely swore, but she did it usually meant you fucked up. As she looked at Percy with the most concerning look. "Hold the rag tight please." she said to her as he raised her hand and took off a hair tie that she had wrapped around her wrist. As she put it in her mouth and started to fumble with her long blue hair twirling it into a tight bun. As she closed her eyes and started to concentrate. She saw the other wounds she had gotten but the one on the side was the one she had to deal with right away or she could die. As a green light started to emanate from her hands and around the gash that Percy had. As she started to use her magic that her parents taught her. "What happened to you my love." she said as she opened up her eyes and looked at her as her eyes could be seen growing increasingly wet as tears started to form, a couple escaping her eyes and flowing down her face. Leave to Kayla to get sad really fast thinking she might loose the only person she has left.
The pain was intense as Persephone remained slumped in the wooden, kitchen chair. It flared in her side from the slightest movements of her torso, the water inflincting its own torment as the wound was cleansed; infections would not assist her. The grime was removed slowly, the liquid transforming into a sickening red tinge as dirt accompanied blood. The woman's grey eyes fixated on the horrendous wound that maimed her side, noticing the bright red colouring against her pale flesh. Gradually, blood oozed before being swept away from the torrent of water she manipulated smoothly. A flinch crossed her face, Persephone moving the water towards the sink; the filthy liquid would no longer assist her when it arrived to this hienous injury. The familiar's frightening claws had managed to do quite the number on her, the creature's superior speed furthering the damage with swift hits.
The aftermath of the battle arrived suddenly, the pain remaining intense as Persephone noticed the scents of blood and sweat; an ugly smell. Muscles felt numbed, remembering the labours of a hard-fought battle and pleading for the reward of relaxation. Everything began to simultaneously ache, condensing around her injuries, increasing the horrible pain that she endured at the moment. The nymph's shoulder's drooped, making the exhaustion immensely obvious to anybody who viewed her. There was a masked expression on her countenance, Persephone attempting to resist the grimace that desired to permanently touch her features. Breathing was shallower than average, the assassin's wounds creating the irregular reaction in her respiratory. The short woman's physical condition remained on the decline, the few moments of waiting proving to be agonizing. Seconds passed, her grey eyes continuing to absently stare towards her injury, concerns crossing her mind.
Her entrancement broke when suddenly there was a familiar voice shouting through the air. Drunkenly, Persephone's gaze lazily drifted towards Kayla, noticing the beautiful woman's entrance. Despite the pain from her wounds, the nymph easily noticed the nephilim's beauty. The long blue haired that cascaded down from her head in sublime tendrils, reaching down to her waist. There was a magnificence to her figure, the woman's movements capturing Persephone's attention. When the rag was pressed against her wound, the nymph flinched from pain, eyes focusing on Kayla as pain sparked through her body. There was concern written across the nephilim's face, a faint pang of guilt entering the short woman's mind. When directed to apply pressure, Persephone obeyed, thoroughly aware of Kayla's superior medical knowledge. There was a pain the accompanied the pressure, acute, but possessing worth should it allow her to avoid death for another day.
There was a green tinge that radiated from Kayla's hands, promptly gaining the assassin's attention as she witnessed the progression of the magic. It cloaked her wounds, the flesh mending together as magic began speeding the healing process, displaying a superiority towards magical means of mending. A strange feeling arrived with skin knitting itself back together over the course of a few seconds, generating a sensation the nymph had grown familiar to. There was a slight tickling from it, the hasty knitting making Persephone twitch from the feeling. Pain numbed, gradually ebbing away as the injuries healed and infection was eliminated from the green light that enveloped the wounds. Once the healing process was completed, the nymph's attention awakened as she slowly straightened her posture from her slumped position. The inquiry towards what occurred earned Persephone's attention as her eyes flitted back towards Kayla.
Tears had grown in the woman's eyes, becoming plump before rolling down her flawless cheeks. The trails glittered in the faint kitchen light, the mere sight increasing the guilt Persephone harboured. Initially, it began with the brutal murdering of Kayla's parents, a deception of them travelling being provided by her own father. Gradually, the guilty emotions grew into a monster that threatened to consume the assassin as days passed. Long nights spent fighting fearsome opponents only to return with wounds later into the evening, ultimately worrying the adorable girl who gleefully dedicated herself as a medic. How could she possible deserve somebody of intense beauty inside and out after the crimes committed against her?
"He was tougher than expected," the nymph mumbled.
Providing context around the individual who harmed her was unneccessary, the familiar another victim to assassination at the hands of the water nymph. For a few moments, Persephone stared as sorrow grabbed hold of Kayla until glancing away. Witnessing the development of sadness was enough to make the cold assassin's heart ache.
Green magic and energy radiating from her hands as it started to close Percy wounds. Kayla focused pretty hard on the spell as for a wound this bad and this big, it did take some concentration and focus. Luckily for her, Percy was a pretty quiet person to begin with, even with pain. Not that she liked that all time. She did wish she was more...more happy sometimes. But she understood why she wasn't. After her father, and pretty much the man that became hers died. It was hard. But Kayla promised herself to fill the amazing Percy with love and affection to warm that cold heart of hers. As tears rolled down her now rosy cheeks. She sniffled a bit as her nose had a slight tint of red to it also.
After finishing up she undid the bun she had put her hair into letting her long blue hair drop back down to her waist and form back to her head. As tears started to flow even more. She never did give much insight to her injuries when ever she was. It was frustration. Kayla whipped some tears away as more just formed. "No more getting hurt. Okay..." she said as her cheeks puffed out a little bit as tears rolled over her now puffed up cheeks. "I don't want to think you are gunna leave me too." she said through her sniffles as she looked up at Percy as she was kneeling on the ground from preforming her magic. As she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around the girl and nuzzling her her face into her stomach area. As she started to ball her eyes out, crying like a child lost their favorite toy.
Kayla always had a tendency to overreact or get overly sad for no reason. She just healed Percy, probably from a mortal wound at that, but she still thought she was going to loose her. And she was all she had, Percy was precious to her. So her overreacting was normal but still warranted, at least she thought. "I'm never letting you go again. "youz....stawing...hgere...fgor...frest...ofs oiur...liwes.." she somehow said through her sobbing. Don't know if Percy understood that but pretty much she was saying you aren't going out again, you are staying where she can at least hold her. At least thats what she thought she said but it came out like that. As she kept nuzzling her face into the battered, ripped and bit bloody wear of Percy. She didn't care at all as long as she was here...that's all that matters.
The sensation of her wounds closing together was something Persephone had adjusted to after years of magical healing methods. There was silence as the water nymph allowed the restoration of her pale flesh; she would never be daring enough to struggle against Kayla's healing. There was no purpose to maintaining injuries, thus the quiet was kept to allow the nephilim to focus on the mending of her wounds. Gradually, colour returned to Persephone's face, her breathing regulating as her body relaxed from the shock of injury and exhaustion. The wounded sections stitched together flawlessly, only leaving the redue of dried blood, dirt and the putrid smell of sweat clinging to the young woman. Everything focused, her steel coloured eyes glancing around the kitchen to provide a proper survey before returning to Kayla who completed the process of healing.
Slowly, her eyes returned to Kayla, lingering to stare at the nephilim's gentle face. The woman's flawless skin as tears rolled over her cheeks as her brilliant blue hair was released from the bun. It reached towards her waist in beautiful tendrils of blue, the subtle movements maintaining the nymph's attention. She was absolutely breathtaking, probably one of the most sublime individuals she ever became an acquaintance with. If only she deserved the nephilim's affectionate gaze that she provided daily. The innocent benevolence of her incredible love, the thing Persephone rejected from the crimes she performed against this woman who devoted herself to the murderous assassin. Perhaps a day would arrive where she would find an improvement; a person actually deserving of her affection. Her eyes lingered on Kayla, watching as she wiped away the tears, cheeks puffing out as she began sniffling and stating getting hurt was illegal.
"Impossible," Persephone mumbled briefly. "I never said I would die."
Suddenly, Kayla's arms latched to her waist, causing the nymph to jolt in surprise at the action. The sobbing began on queue, the nephilim nuzzling her stomach while she performed her renown overreaction towards meagre injuries. There were always worse cases, like being immobilized by wounds. Fortunately, she had managed to gather herself and perform an escape from the scene and furthermore the wounds were not cursed; nasty things that made magical healing impossible. There was also the fact that remained alive, which to Persephone was proof of her lacking in recklessness. The nymph began struggling slightly against the nephilim's grip, the warm raining of shower water being desired considering her filthy condition.
"Kayla! Let go! I'm sweaty, gross and want to shower!" Persephone shouted while she squirmed.
Despite years of being around Kayla, Persephone always remained reckless towards the possibility of the nephilim growing more upset. There was a single thought that continued this process of ignorance, which was the nymph's believe or not deserving this endless affection, thus she needed to be released.
Kayla's face becoming more and more soaked with her tears as they just kept flowing from her eyes. Kayla always did have a tendency to overreact to most things. Big over reactions to Percy getting hurt. Percy getting hurt being most the times the huge over reactions occurred. Kayla is a sweet girl, too sweet for most things. She loved Percy with every fiber of her being even if she didn't love her back. But she took her in when her parents were gone. So Kayla was attached to Percy even if she was more cold to the blue hair girl. Well cold wasn't the right term. More just no accepting for some reasons. But either way Kayla loved her, and Percy was stuck with her.
Tears rubbing off on Percy's clothes as her tears kept flowing from her eyes, as she kept nuzzling her face into Percy. This girl really did love her to death and would do anything for. It was a shame her feelings her neglected sometimes. Kayla looked up at her as she yelled at Kayla. "NO. IM NOT LETTING GO OF YOU FOREVER." she said as she just squeezed harder around Percy's waist. She was never going to let go tonight. Once she fell asleep she might let her go who knows. She would hold onto her until she passed out that's for sure.
"YOU WILL HAVE TO SHOWER WITH ME CAUSE IM NOT LETTING GO." she yelled again up at Percy as her cheeks puffed out again in protest. There was no way in hell she letting go even if she died in this moment. Percy would have to peal her cold dead hands away if she wanted to be let go. Kayla was stubborn as hell when it came to things like this. Percy would either have to compromise like she usually did with offering cuddles until Kayla fell asleep or something. But in this moment she was never going to let go.
While trapped within the nephilim's arms, Persephone squirmed from instinct from the close proximity. Tears were liked waterfalls from Kayla's eyes as the nymph witnessed her innocent crush soak her divine face. These moments of extreme upset were frequent, the petite woman always finding difficulty discovering a way to escape the clutches of her clingy healer. Overreacting was something that appeared to come naturally to Kayla, Persephone recalling numerous instances where the woman displayed this behavior. The assassin swore her medic would overreact even over a meagre papercut; these were mere wounds! Every evening following a mission she received healing, thus the damaged sustained should be of little importantance considering they were always mended! As long as her injuries disappeared by the evening, then Persephone could not understand the root of the problem.
Meeting her grave amidst the battlefield was downright impossible, her skills allowing for her steady persistence through missions. There were further matters pertaining to her sworn enemy, the demon who murdered her father and deserved to feel the razor sharp end of her daggers slicing his skin alongside the burning sensation of holy water against his sinful flesh. Tear stains were becoming evident on the drab clothing which resulted in further squirming from Persephone. While her work garmets would never reach pristine condition, they could at least maintain some definition of professionalism. The yelling accompanied by the squeezing resulted in Persephone flinching, the assassin already aware that escape was becoming unlikely. Unfortunately, her excuse for release failed, Kayla, insisting towards the notion of showering together. There were the slightest hints of red across Persephone's filthy cheeks, the water nymph secretly fancying the concept of observing Kayla's naked form within the confines of a shower.
The notion was shoved away, the assassin forbidding herself from libidinous thoughts when it arrived to her healer; Kayla could definitely do better than some heathen like herself. Despite her complete resentment towards attempting to earn the nephilim's heart, Persephone was already aware that compromise was the only chance at escape.
"Let me go shower alone and you can cuddle me all you want when I come out, okay? But if I don't go now, I will smell heavily of filth for a week," she stated.
A gentle sighed escaped her lips at the necessity to negotiate with her healer, especially considering she wanted Kayla to find somebody truthfully deserving of her affectionate gaze. While the young woman had a vibrant beauty, the nymph remained wary of how worthy she was to somebody incredible as her loving crush.
Tears kept flowing down her face then onto Percy's clothes as the poor blue haired girl was just crying like tomorrow was the end of the world. Well in her mind, Percy was her world. And if Percy died, her world would end so not too far from thinking that. But Kayla's famous overreactions were nothing to Percy... At least she thought because they have lived together for a long time. I mean Percy's father dealt with her overreactions so well. Which was a surprise that Percy always had a difficult time handling them. She always wondered why Percy had a hard time dealing with her. It was odd but she never gave it a second thought or asked about it. As long as she could spend the rest of her time with Percy she would be happy...if she could grow old and live together with her she would be happy. Kayla was easy to please...just give her, her Percy time and she would be happy even if the world was coming to an end.
Kayla kept nuzzling into the stomach of her Percy as she kept crying like a little baby. Other than cooking food and healing Percy, she was useless housewife to put it simply. She didn't have much of a use, her use was keeping Percy healthy. And if that use was to vanish. She didn't quite know what she would do with herself. Mostly cause she loved Percy to death. And if she died...she would probably die too. That is how attached to the hip of Percy she was. It was almost sad how attached she was to the assassin.
Kayla heard Percy speak as she instantly stopped crying and looked up at Percy with sparkling eyes. All she heard was cuddles and she stopped. She sniffled a little bit. As she let her death grip of Percy slip. She stood up and whipped the remaining tears away. As she looked at Percy with sparkling eyes. Not saying anything she bolted to the bathroom and turned on the shower and grabbed a fresh towel and clothes for her love from her room and put them on the counter. Despite them having seprate rooms. Kayla usually sneaks into Percy's room to sleep with her...Mostly cause she can and wants to. And uses the excuse of having a bad dream so Percy feels bad and reluctantly says yes. So Kayla knew where everything was in her room. Plus she does her laundry so. Once everything was set up she came skipping back into the kitchen. "Peeeeercy. Your Shower is reeeeaaaadyy." she said with a gigantic grin on her face, eyes still sparkling like a child getting a new toy. If you didn't know any better. It was like she didn't just have a huge breakdown crying her eyes out.
The intense latching to her waist made Persephone uncomfortable as she continued to squirm in Kayla's unwanted embrace; well, somewhat unwanted. There were moments were hugs from her crush was desired before the realization dawned about how little she deserved the pleasant treatment. The affectionate attitude of her healer was unwarranted from how the nymph failed to provide an excellent life. They did live in the pathetic outskirts of the city in a small house with rundown sections from neglecting the various repairs. Crime was high and difficult to avoid, Persephone's assassin alignment assisting in limiting the rift-raft that bothered their home. The nephilim who gleefully devoted herself to her deserved a better place to call home; deserved somebody who could truly provide her with optimal care instead of an assassin from a family lost to time.
Despite the adorable nature of Kayla's nuzzling resulted in a slight pause to the struggle until Persephone shook her head and continued. Allowing the healer to witness hints of softness suggested the possibility that she was caving into the affectionate behaviour. If anything, Kayla needed to search for somebody who could appreciate her more than the cold nymph. She never provided love in return of the immense attention her healer provided on a daily basis. The compromise was created, Persephone relieved when the waterfall of tears finally ceased pouring from the blue-haired girl's eyes. The crying stopped suddenly, which was a usual spectacle that the nymph witnessed whenever she managed to upset her healer. Promising cuddles could always result in a hasty recovery from any despair that Kayla felt, or at least from Persephone was aware of so far. Finally, the assassins hips were released from the vice grip of her adorable crush.
Hastily, Kayla exited to begin the shower, Persephone sighing as she relaxed in the kitchen chair. During the woman's absence, the nymph acquired to moment to relax after the exhaustion of the mission. She remained slumped in the chair, smelling the disgusting scent of blood mingling with sweat from the challenging brawl between herself and the target. There was a chance that anybody who managed to capture a glimpse of her clothing could guess the event of her evening. After a few minutes, she could hear the voice of Kayla, the woman's grey eyes flitting towards her crush. There was a large grin stretching across her face, making it obvious that the compromise made the nephilim content; it was better than the house being struck by lightning again!
"Thank-you," she mumbled briefly.
Shortly, she rose from the chair to pass Kayla and weave through the house to the washroom. Once she entered, the door was closed behind her and promptly locked to avoid peaking. The sound of water forcefully hitting the walls of the shower were soothing, Persephone pausing to breath for a moment. Everything was prepared, the towel, clothes and steamy water to wash her filthy body. Once peace settled in the woman, she stripped off her dirty clothing, entering the shower to scrub off the dirt and blood caked onto her flesh. The short locks of hair were washed, grim falling from the messy tendrils. There were another few moments spent allowing the water from the shower to massage her back before Persephone finally exited. The towel was grabbed, her body dried before tugging on the clothing to cover her form. A brush was taken through her hair, hastily tidying it before the nymph focus.
The water absorbed into the hair from the shower was gathering, Persephone smoothly manipulating it towards the sink to head down the drain. Once satisfied, the assassin exited the washroom completely cleansed from the night's excursion and prepared for bed. Her night attire consisted of a pair of short shorts and a tank top to avoid overheating during the night; especially since Kayla would likely be cuddling her prior to bed.
Kayla left the presence of the washroom as she skipped to her room to change. She slipped off her bright blue top as her long aqua hair fell back down her back as she put on a simple t-shirt. As she pulled out her hair from the shirt as he fell back down to her waist. She started to hum happily as she unzipped her skirt she usually wore and let fall to the ground as step out of it. Kayla walked back out of her room into the hallway. This was usually her night attire, just an over sized shirt covering everything. It was so much more comfy than anything else. She walked into the hallway and down a couple steps to outside the washroom. As she looked at the door as she leaned against the wall opposing the door.
She looked at the door as she was still humming peacefully. She was excited that Percy was going to cuddle. She loved her after and cuddles were the best thing in this world. Especially if they were from her Percy. As she slowly slid down the wall into a sitting position. As she brought her knees to her chest as she was still humming, waiting patiently for her love to come out of the washroom. When she started to think about things she could do for Percy. As she twirled her hair around her finger just thinking of the many things to make Percy happy.
As she was stuck in thought, the thought popped into her head...Does Percy really like her? She never showed any signs of affection or even anything towards the blue haired girl unless it was either to stop the over reactions she had or just simple things to get Kayla off her back. Kayla kept twirling her hair with her finger as she put more thought into it. It was understandable she was much colder now since her father passed. But she has Kayla so she shouldn't be too sad right? Espically since she does so much just to put a smile on her love's amazing cute face but never gets a smile... She thought as she just shook her head and frustration with all these thoughts that popped into her head for some reason.
As the door opened as she saw Percy come out of the bathroom looking sparkling clean. She looked up at her love. As she looked away for a second. "Do you actually like me? or do you think I'm annoying..." she asked quietly, as she wrapped her arms around her legs tightening them closer to her chest as she looked pretty weak right now... Kayla didn't want to cause trouble for Percy like this but all of these thoughts swimming through her head made it blurry and frustration. If she was annoying her dear Percy she would bother her anymore like she usually does or anything. Maybe even leave if she is a nuisance for her. Even though she has no where to go. But she wanted to know what Percy thought of her considering she only compromises for her own sake to get Kayla to stop... She had to know especially since they have lived together for so long.
Exiting the warm air of the washroom was followed by a stretch from Persephone as she attempted to stifle a yawn from exhaustion. Slowly, her hand moved towards her mouth, covering it as she held back any displays of her weariness. Cold rushed through the hallway, embracing her and resulting in the pebbling of her skin. Their home oftentimes became cool during the evenings, the water from the showing only increasing the likelihood of Persephone getting cold. A small shiver crossed the woman as she closed her eyes for a moment, only opening them when she heard the words of her loyal healer. There was a curious expression that crossed the nymph's face as she raised an eyebrow at the particular question that Kayla provided; questions like this was foreign to the water nymph, yet, sensible.
While she held intense feelings of love for the incredible girl willing to dedicate herself entirely to her, Persephone forbade herself to display mutual affection. There was silence as the water nymph's grey eyes crawled across the attractive form of Kayla, the adorable position her crush chose causing her heart to flutter madly. The long aqua hair that cascaded down from her head, her defined features that created an overall slender appeal alongside those beautiful bright eyes. Beneath those sublime looks was a sweet and caring personality that easily made Persephone's heart palpitate in enjoyment from merely witnessing it. Nobody else compared to the divine Kayla, thus the water nymph always found immense difficulty in keeping her eyes or thoughts from wandering. Unfortunately, she remained adamant in the belief that Kayla deserved somebody better than herself, however, Persephone always wondered if she could accept the verdict.
The loyalty the nephilim displayed towards her resulted in limited experience in Persephone witnessing Kayla flirt with a different woman. The thought already made the nymph blood boil, resulting in an intense concern towards harming another individual publicly from built-up jealousy; letting her go would be difficult. A few more moments were spent staring at her crush, a pensive countenance on the nymph's face before she sighed. There was definitely no harm in keeping a healer around, that being her excused to grant herself permission to treat her crush kindly; or at least somewhat.
"What gave you that idea? If I found you annoying, I would have kicked you out months ago. Now stop moping, you wanted cuddles," Persephone answered. "Unless I should cuddle my pillow instead."
The water nymph turned to slowly walk towards her bedroom, her finger touching her lip while she teased Kayla with the concept of snuggling her pillow instead of cuddling her. Gradually, Persephone closed the distance between herself and her bedroom, the wooden floor beneath her feet only resulting in the chill continuing. Negotiating cuddles with Kayla always became a positive near the end of the evening, especially when she became cold inside their old home. Throughout the evening they could share heat while cuddling beneath the warm covers for a peaceful evening; unless police activity began going wild. The sirens of police cruisers always made sleeping immensely difficult. The door was opened, Persephone crossing the threshold and entering the carpeted bedroom. Across the walls were numerous pictures of the travels with her father, even Kayla's presence being available in a few when she joined their venture.
The remainder of the room was dull, the only pieces of furniture being her bed, a small TV, a pair of bedside tables and a dresser; decorations were almost nonexistent besides the photographs. The water nymph reached her bed, pulling the covers down to enter the warmth of her bed.
Kayla looked up as she looked at Percy, her legs still tight to her chest. The saddened look that didn't deserve even belong on the sweet blue haired girl's face. She awaited a response. Almost not wanting to hear the answer. Kayla wasn't usually thinking negatively...in fact it was more rare than anything else that happened in the household. As she heard Percy start to speak. She tried to squish more into a ball than before as she looked down at the hard wood floor she was sitting on. She didn't want to hear it. Recently she has felt like this. Like Percy doesn't truly care for the girl that gives her all for the one she loves...the one that is standing in front of her.
As words flowed into her ears she looked up at Percy. Her cheeks instantly blew up in revolt to her comment about cuddling her pillow instead of Kayla herself. "Hmph." was all she said as Percy started to walk. "Not fair saying that." she said through her grumpy expression. As she released the ball she was in and stood up following her love to her bedroom. She didn't look at Percy while following her. She didn't want to believe what she said because she never shows much affection ever. Even if she did love Kayla, she never even let slip the slightest affection towards her. Which did make Kayla really sad sometimes. Espically when she goes out. What if she never comes back? She will never be able to see Percy again. Not tell her how much she loves her dear Percy if she never comes back. It was hard for Kayla sometimes...She loved Percy with every fiber of her being, but she never got any affection back. Even her cuddles seemed void of any affection...she just does it so she wont have to hear the cries of the blue haired girl.
As Kayla entered Percy's (and Kayla's) room she watched the slender Percy crawl into bed admiring every little movement...How can she be so sad when she gets to look and talk to someone so amazing she thought. As she looked at Percy as she wiped a small tear that flowed down her cheek. As she skipped over and jumped into the bed. With a thud and a small bounce from the recoil of the spring mattress, she was practically on top of her dear Percy. "Hehe sorry." she said as she slid off her love and next to her...As she snuggled up against her love trying to get as close as possible to her. She looked at Percy in the eyes with her bright blue ones. "Do you love me?" she asked her. Kayla wanted to hear it so bad...but most likely wouldn't get such luxury with Percy admitting her love for her.
Affection was always a difficult topic for Persephone to display to those around her; the woman even struggling to maintain a friendly visage when necessary. There was a foreign feel to even attempting to display those feelings, the assassin ultimately avoiding the notion at all costs. These pleasant emotions accompanied by the rapid heartbeats and flushed faces were forbidden; even friendship oftentimes being pushed away from the nymph's cold disposition. Feelings were useless tools, solely designed to inflict immense amounts of pain on their victim; proven by the abrupt loss of her precious father. The wonderful man who supported her, allowed her to cry when necessary and raised her best he could despite the dangers of their occupation. They were the survivors of the Rose family, attempting to mend themselves and bring forth the power within their surname; to have people quivering in fear from the name of a pleasant flower. However, the sudden loss of her closest ally and family member still left a bile and the requirement to paint fields red with the blood of their enemies.
The path Persephone wandered down was paved with an intense need for revenge; the hell species that murdered her family would pay! They would face brutal wounds from her ability to manipulate holy water. While she adored Kayla, the assassin believed the mesmerizing woman deserved a quieter life; one where she would not fret over the possibility of her lover dying or returning bloody from battle. Somewhere, there had to be somebody who could display an intense affection and allow for Kayla to truly feel loved. There would be an individual capable of sweeping the beautiful girl off her feet and whisk her away from the nightmares of being a "hostage" to the murderers of her beloved parents. At least, Persephone hoped for Kayla's sake considering the young nephilim appeared somewhat dependent on her. There were numerous incidents where her crush managed to get lost because Persephone allowed her eyes to stray for merely a moment; sometimes the nymph thought getting lost was an additional superpower for Kayla!
The saddened expression on Kayla's face brought an aching feeling to Persephone's heart; she hated upsetting her crush. Witnessing the sorrow in her countenance was heartbreaking alongside the frightful possibility of her displeasing the nephilim to points of the house getting struck by lightning... These moments were when the assassin wished she could lower her guard, possibly wrap her arms around the sweet girl and apologize for her cold demeanour, but she refused to grant herself the moment. Instead, she discovered the joyful vision of Kayla puffing her cheeks up in disapproval of the remark she made. Once Persephone arrived in the bedroom, she slid beneath the comfort of suitable blankets for a warm summer evening. The nymph stretched, yawning until she was disrupted by the sudden bounce as Kayla launched into the air, partially landing on her.
There could hardly be a complaint uttered, the cold woman wishing she could have merely shrugged off the moment with a lighthearted laugh for the benefit of her crush. Immediately, the snuggling began, Persephone reaching for grab the drawcord of the lamp to banish luminescence from the room. In complete silence, the assassin accepted her "punishment" for upsetting Kayla to an extreme. The nymph began closing her eyes, expecting another blissful night of peaceful rest, until they snapped open to the sweet words of that question. A slight blush touched Persephone's cheeks from the unexpected question, the woman wishing she could confess her feelings for Kayla. There was a pause, the assassin finding it difficult to find the words to state in hopes of satisfying the nephilim and not bringing her too close.
"Well... umm," she fumbled. "I mean, I... uh... love the things you do for me?"
She answered awkwardly, a questioning tone touching her voice accidentally; why did Kayla have to ask this question?! Bashfully, the assassin glanced away in preparation for the possible punishment she would receive for her pathetic fumbling to answer the inquiry.
Kayla was getting under the covers as Percy was already there, Kayla not giving a second second for thought snuggled right up next to Percy. With her back against the assassin. By this point Percy knew if she didn't at least wrap an arm around the blue haired girl. There would be an upset Kayla and the possibility of lighting hitting the house. As she melted into Percy's form and resting her head on the pillow. This was the best she thought. Snuggling with her Percy is always the best "treat" even though it was probably a punishment for Percy. But either way Kayla loved cuddling with her love. It was the best feeling. As she laid there for a second just looking in the darkness as Percy had shut off the last remaining light. She asked her question.
It was completely silent in the room. The only thing to be heard was the couple or creeks from the old house they had called home for a while. As the assassins seemed to be having trouble coming up with something to say. Or just stumbling to find an answer to satisfy the nephilim. Or she might cause a storm. Kayla got upset too easily and Percy knew that. But this time if she didn't come up with the right words she most likely knew what could happen. As the assassin finally started to speak up and say what she had to say hoping it wouldn't affect the blue haired girl too much to the point a storm came crashing through. But Kayla was silent. Not even a word to be uttered out. Which was odd considering how much she usually talks. Probably by this point considering a couple moments went by in silent that she upset the girl.
But that was not the case. As Kayla's breathing got heavier as she had grabbed Percy's hand that was around her as she intertwined her own fingers with hers. As she was fast asleep. Most likely she had passed out just after asking her question to her crush. So all the thinking and stumbling for an answer were a loss mostly because Kayla had passed out by then. Even answering was a waste because she had been fast asleep. Healing Percy took a lot out of the Nephilim and she got tired pretty easily after healing such a big wound. Percy was probably terrifed of what was going to happen if that answer wasn't liked. But luckily for her nothing would come of it. As the blue haired girl tightened her grip on the hand of the assassin as she fell further into a deep sleep.
As usual, Persephone felt Kayla's back snuggle against her, the assassin relenting to wrap an arm around the girl. The other arm hid beneath the pillows, finding warmth and creating a comfortable position for the nymph to lay on her side. She kept to Kayla's waist, strictly forbidding herself to it higher and lower; the waist appeared to be neutral ground in the situation. There was a certain peace in this position, Persephone always finding relaxation in being allowed to hold Kayla close. She felt as the blue-haired beauty melted against her, the nymph resisting the urge to smile in delight from the close proximity. These moments always created the desire to express her harboured emotions of affection towards this incredible woman her cared for her daily, but she reminded herself that such notions were forbidden.
There was a prayer that the stated words would not result in a cataclysmic storm suddenly churning outside, but instead, silence engulfed the bedroom. Subtle creaks of the old house settling and rustling leaves from a tall tree in the yard were the only sounds this evening. Occasionally, the quiet noises of a passing car would infiltrate the "silence" of night, but otherwise, there was nothing else. The nymph adjusted herself slightly, peeking over Kayla's shoulder as she felt the intertwining of their fingers. Her breath was heavier, and in the darkness, Persephone could just notice the closed eyelids of her healer, making it obvious the woman had drifted to sleep. A long breath escaped the assassin's mouth considering she had narrowly dodged a disaster. She settled into her position behind Kayla, snuggling into the soft pillows to enter the wonderful would of sleep that awaited her.
Slowly, the nymph shut her eyes, merely listening to the ambiance of a quiet night in Lorsette; it felt like a rarity these days. A moment was taken to tug the comforters higher, enveloping herself and Kayla better in the incredible warmth. Gradually, Persephone fell asleep, finding great comfort in having Kayla close. She was clueless about what she would do without the blue-haired woman were to leave her despite her desires for Kayla to discover someone better. Either way, those worries were for another day as Persephone slumbered next to the adorable nephilim.
