Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
jean sighed softly as he ran his fingers through his hair. he didn't mind the snow, but he was glad that it had finally left. he was currently sitting on a bench. sunglasses on, obviously he had taken his eye patch off. even he had the good sense not to look like a complete dork.
it was nice weather. the sun was out, but it wasn't too warm. the light breeze helped. he wasn't looking at anything in particular. his thoughts had traveled back to the previous months. all those interesting encounters with the ghosts. after that he didn't bother to try to find the rest. he could only imagine how that would go.
was it so bad of him to say hi? well dexter and fletcher sure seemed like it was. though he had to admit the time he had spent with fletcher was clearly more enjoyable. he didn't know what it was about him, that made his reactions so much better. maybe it was the way that he didn't entirely reject jean's teasing words or actions. the thought made him chuckle softly. what the hell was he doing here? reminiscing like some old guy. he really needed to get up and go find something to do.
Fletcher couldn't help but think of the time Jean had endured with him inside of the library. Despite his efforts in trying to push Jean away, deep down he was unsure if he really badly wanted him to go or not. Would he really be able to push him away when he had failed to let go the first time? He had started his walk towards the beach, having nothing better to do. It was also a nice place to hang out whether you wanted to be around people or not, just for the sake of the ocean being so calming. Of course upon seeing Jean, he had turned the other direction instead.
What am I doing? It isn't like I followed him here or something... He thought to himself, turning around after he had caught sight of where Jean was lurking. Just like last time, he appeared to be wearing the same clothes as last time, ragged as ever. He never really worried about his clothing however, knowing that when they became too holey, he could just buy a fresh pair while allowing them to wear and tear too. Since he didn't have the money for a place to live, it seemed best to save it for his bullets in case those damn Terrors attempted to come get him, or that traitor for that matter.
a yawn escaped his lips as he closed his eyes for a few seconds. he needed to get up and walk around or something. he was pretty close to falling asleep. he should of brought something to read. at least he wouldn't be wasting time just sitting there. slowly but surely he got up and stretched his arms over his head. maybe he should of taken a nap. the weather was fairly nice. it wasn't very hot, but it wasn't too cold either. a happy medium. not that the temperature bother him too much.
whether it was coincidence or luck. he just so happened to catch sight of the very person he had on his mind. at least he hoped it was. his arms fell to his sides and he started to move towards them. had they noticed him? maybe they hadn't and that's the reason they didn't say hello. if they had why were they avoiding him? he laughed at himself. it wouldn't be too difficult to come up with reasons to avoid jean.
well at least he wasn't running away. jean eventually caught up to him. still a couple of steps behind. recognizing the familiar head of hair."fletcher, not so fast. unless you want me to chase you."jean said with a teasing laugh.
Fletcher hadn't really been trying to get away, knowing fully well if Jean wanted to follow him, ditching would require effort and he just wasn't in the mood to go running. He rolled his eyes when Jean spoke behind him, clearly attempting to tease him. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you wanted me to run for that very reason." He answered back, continued to walk instead of slowing down to chat with him. "Too much effort." He answered, knowing fully well that if Jean wanted to catch him, he'd make one hell of an effort to do so. It was too late to attempt escaping, though if Jean got bored being around him, that would work too. He was secretly counting on it. If it wasn't for the fact Jean had left, their friendship wouldn't have broken, he wouldn't feel a great need to avoid him, he would instead of been playful back to him. At one point of time he had looked up to Jean, but now, he had a new gang to look after, but at the same time he couldn't help but remember the good old times, emotions resurfacing slightly.
it didn't seem like fletcher was going to slow down anytime soon. jean chuckled as he picked up the pace."am i that easy to read? you do know how exciting it can be. you never could outrun me. or has that changed now?"he asked teasingly.
"but i like a challenge."jean told him with a grin as he eventually caught up with fletcher. thankfully the sidewalk wasn't crowded. though if he had to he would make sure he didn't lose sight of fletcher. he wasn't going to give up too easily."i've missed you."jean told him."i haven't seen you since you ditched me at the library."he said with a hurtful expression on his face. though it didn't last too long."what have you been up to?"now he was starting to sound desperate. or at least that's what he thought. not that he didn't care to know. it just seemed like he was begging for attention. though if that's what fletcher wanted, then perhaps he would just have to give in.
it was clear that fletcher wanted nothing to do with him."did you talk to your boss lady about me? my offer still stands. unless you don't want me in your new gang."
Fletcher rolled his eyes when he heard Jean chuckling from behind him, clearly finding this amusing. "None of your business." He mumbled, continuing to walk away from him. He never could outrun Jean, almost positive he'd still be likely caught by him but he wasn't in the mood for Jean's games. Though there was an emotional that seemed to touch his heart when Jean was giving him attention again, but he refused to let his playful side come out, still upset with Jean for leaving him. "I don't care...." He mumbled, knowing all too well that Jean was serious about liking a challenge but he was determined as ever to not give it to him.
"Sure you did." He mumbled, passing a few people heading towards the beach. "Oh such a shame." He answered him in return, not fazed by his hurt expression, finding it difficult to sympathize with him. "Walking around." He answered, a quick and simple answer to try and dodge Jean's real question. He stopped walking when he heard Jean's question. "No I didn't talk to her about you and I have no intention in doing so." He answered, "When you say it like that.... I feel forced into telling you that I don't want you in my new gang. As said, I told you to leave town." He answered, not completely meaning his words, unsure why that would be.
having caught up to fletcher. he matched his stride. it seemed for now that fletcher wasn't going to give chase. despite saying how much jean wanted a challenge he was glad he didn't have to chase the boy. his resistance wasn't anything new. he had been clear with jean and how he didn't want anything to do with him. though jean was rarely the typed that listened. plus they did spend quite of bit of time together. how was jean suppose to take his words seriously.
jean pouts."don't say that. i did miss you. if i hadn't i would of simply ignored you as you tried to do with me."the pout soon fading away as jean chuckled softly. it seemed curt answers were going to be given."clearly. since you're not busy. let's go do something fun."jean said with a grin.
oh, it seemed like he had hit a nerve. fletcher had stopped walking suddenly. jean crossed his arms as he moved to stand in front of him."you just want me all to yourself don't you?"jean said with a wink. he rolls his eyes at the next statement."i'm not forcing you to do or say anything. if that's how you really feel then i won't push the subject."jean told him with a shrug.
jean removed his sunglasses and looked fletcher in the eyes."tell me again that you want me to leave. the least i can do is stay out of your way."even jean knew how to take a hint. no matter how much amusement he received out of annoying someone he knew when enough was enough. not that he would admit to anyone, but he had hoped he could pick up where he left off. well, with his friends. he really wasn't interested in getting the gang back together in that way. it would be nice to know what everyone was up to and yes, apologize for being an ass and leaving.
Fletcher rolled his eyes when he heard Jean's comment. Jean never would ignore, or at least he never seen him ignore other people, so it that was a true statement, it would be news to him. "You never were one for taking no as an answer." He mumbled, well aware of this routine, though in the past he savored every moment. It took a lot of effort to remind himself that despite Jean being back, he wouldn't allow him to remain close only to hurt him again. He had stopped walking and Jean had moved to stand in front of him. He side glanced at Jean's flirting comment, unsure on how to go about answering that. On the one hand, he was slightly happy for him being back. On the other, annoyed because Jean was in his life again, only to likely hurt him again. He sighed when Jean mentioned his comment, somewhat happy that it seemed it was dropped, for now anyway.
Though when Jean removed his glasses, he found himself glancing over, knowing that Jean expected him to say it to him. He thought he'd be able to do it but instead found himself silent as he looked back at him. He had remained quiet for too long, the least he could do was give Jean an answer right? Or at least that is what he had told himself, upon reaching out suddenly in an attempt to steal his sunglasses, with the goal of putting them on to give that comment Jean ohhhhhhhhh so hoped to hear. Knowing fully well if he succeeded it would count as cheating, since Jean wanted him to say it with direct eye contact.
jean grinned at fletcher's response."wouldn't you say it's one of my better qualities. my determination, my unwillingness to give up with things get tough."it wasn't too long after he said that that he laughed. if that had been remotely true he wouldn't of never left in the first place. though he kept saying his departure was for the best had it been? or was it just an excuse? leaving to avoid his problems, the things that he couldn't fix and running away from the things he was too scared to face.
he wanted do know if fletcher really meant what he had said back in the library. here he was saying it again, but did he really want jean gone? he had moved his sunglasses to the top of his head. staring at fletcher as he dared him to say it again. well, they seemed to be staring at each other for what seemed forever. yet, fletcher was as silent as ever causing a smirk to appear on jean's lips."i'll take that as a no."he said even as fletcher swiped his glasses.
"what don't tell me your going to speak up now. wearing those do not count."he chuckled softly as his hand combed through his hair. after fletcher took the sunglasses from atop his head it had left his hair a tad disheveled."we both know you shouldn't hide those lovely eyes of yours."jean told him with a grin.
Fletcher frowned when Jean answered for him, not even giving him a chance to say it. He had swiped his sunglasses, putting them on. Unsure on if he should bother because Jean was right, he still couldn't bring himself to say it again. It hurt when he had told him last time, having missed Jean and secretly wanting him around. It was just so unfair that Jean could just up and leave when ever he wanted and he was stuck with picking up the pieces Jean had left for him. With his sunglasses on, he finally mustered up a comeback. "If you ever leave me again, I'll search you out and kick your ass." He answered, figuring Jean might view it as more of a joke instead of taking it seriously. "It isn't fair to anybody else you get close with to just up and leave and I won't take it a second time.
Hell I didn't take it the first time either, turn around, I'm going to kick your ass." He threatened, though it was just empty threats this time. He didn't want to hurt Jean, just wanted him to understand how hurt he felt, how hurt he still feels. Jean couldn't just leave him and expect everything to be okay. The sunglasses couldn't hide the tears streaming down his cheeks, unable to contain his feelings any longer. I need to remain strong.... just in case he is a jerk and leaves me again. He thought to himself, tears still falling.
jean was all to familiar with anger. whether it was towards him or he was the angry one. if someone was angry at him, he had the tendency of trying to diffuse the situation with humor. depending on who it was, he could care less if they were angry or not. which made them even more so annoyed with jean. he was prepared for the angry, but not what had come next.
it had seemed jean had beat him to the punch. fletcher remained silent and jean was ready to tease him again. whether it was true or not, jean was going to tease him about how much he really wanted him to stay. though this time it was fletcher that had beat him to it. before jean could begin his teasing fletcher spoke. apart from the way it was said, the words spoken had caught jean off guard. if he ever left him again? jean repeated them again to himself.
he remained silent. he knew this wasn't the time for teasing. he avoided looking at fletcher as he continued with his lecture. of course he wasn't saying anything, because fletcher's words has a truth too them. only looking up when fletcher mentioned jean leaving him the first time. it seemed it wasn't only anger that fletcher felt towards jean's actions.
he felt his stomach drop. he wasn't prepared for this. seeing fletcher cry. it made him uncomfortable. not that he was bothered by people crying. okay, maybe he was, but that was only because he never knew what to do to console them. if was his weakness and it made him feel useless. without saying a word jean closed the distance between them. wrapping his arms around fletcher, pulling him close. he stayed quiet, unsure of what to say to him.
he knew what he wanted to say, that he wouldn't leave him again. that he wouldn't cause him anymore trouble, but the real question was could he promise that? he felt guilty for causing him to cry. they had been so close once before. of course he wasn't going to forget about him or the pain jean had caused when he left. i won't leave you. cross my heart and hope to die. is what he wanted to say, but that's not what had come out."i'm sorry."jean said softly.
Fletcher stood there, tears continuing to fall from his eyes. The sunglasses could hide the sorrow he felt but they couldn't hide the wet tear drops rolling down his cheeks. Jean had moved closer, pulling him into a hug. He hadn't expected the action, too focused on Jean being such a tease. The words that had come out of his mouth hadn't really surprised him, deep down he believed Jean was sorry, just wasn't sure if he believed he would stick around. He had at one point of time believed them to remain a family ever since he joined the gang and had been sadly disappointed when everybody was gone. He chuckled slightly as he tried to stop himself from crying.
"Your sorry?" He asked, not moving from his spot because frankly he was comfortable, "Aren't you supposed to try and tease me about now? Be that humorous guy I remember you as?" He asked, slowly wrapping his arms around Jean in case he had changed his mind and thought about leaving. Okay seriously, I need to calm down. I shouldn't be emotional in front of him. Hell it might have been the reason why he left in the first place. He thought to himself, though despite effort his tears were still falling anyway. He released the hug briefly to fix the sunglasses threatening to fall off of his nose before resuming the hug.
he knew it was out of character. had fletcher continued to yell at him, jean would of simply laughed it off. teased him until he gave up or left. his actions seemed to surprise fletcher as well. though he wasn't pushed away and that was rather surprising as well. though had it been? the last time jean hugged fletcher he didn't really try to push him away. then again he had hugged fletcher from behind.
he questioned him and jean sighed softly."how many times do you want me to say it? i'll keep repeating it till you believe me."jean told him softly. out of the two interactions fletcher had seemed like he was the most likely to forgive him or at least to think about it. dexter had been more than clear on where they stood. or maybe he was just reading too much into this. perhaps fletcher wouldn't forgive him.
he stayed quiet even as he heard fletcher laugh. he waited till he was done speaking to answer."is that what you want me to do? let you go and laugh?"though perhaps that question was asked too soon. he felt fletcher wrap his arms around jean."you can hit me if you want. it was starting to sound like that would make you feel better."jean said with a soft laugh.
Fletcher sighed when he heard Jean's comment, he pouted. "Maybe I should have you repeat it." He mumbled, then proceeds to drop the subject instead. He then made his comment about Jean teasing him or being humorous. "Who said anything about letting go?" He asked in return before adding, "Besides, it wouldn't matter because I have you in my grip anyway." He mumbled, still determined as ever not to let go. He'd be damned if Jean attempted to pull away before he was ready to release him. "Why do that when I know your more uncomfortable this way?" He countered, still hugging Jean whether he had wanted it to continue or not. He wasn't in the mood to hit him, perhaps in the past he would have been, but he knew better then to think it would help him fell better.
Now Jean in a hug, it was another story completely. Besides it helping him feel better, he felt like he was getting a little bit of revenge because Jean was the fling type of guy. Soooooo not likely comfortable with holding him since they weren't going to do anything later. "Though I might have to think of something else, if you became a hugger on me." He added, chuckling at his own attempt at a joke. Jean had it coming, for leaving him, then hugging him. If he thought he'd let go, he had another thing coming.
jean pulled back slightly, still in fletchers arms, but far enough that jean could look him in the eyes."im sorry could you repeat that."jean said as a smile appeared on his lips."honestly i figured you'd say no."his thumb caressed fletcher's cheek.
"you're just full of surprises today."jean chuckled softly. though he was as well. jean wasn't normally the type to comfort someone sad let alone someone crying. it wasn't that he didn't want to. it was just that he didn't really know how. more often than not he would leave them alone. so he had surprised himself when he had drawn fletcher close. wiping his tears and telling him not to cry."you're hot then you're cold. you're sending me mixed signals here darling. unless you're thinking this hug will lead into something more. that's the real reason you don't want to let me go."jean teased him softly."i won't run off. promise."jean winked.
so he was caught. jean chuckled trying to play it off."who said anything about being uncomfortable by seeing you cry."oops, he wasn't suppose to let that slip."i mean nothing makes me uncomfortable. i could walk around completely naked and be unfazed."jean said with a grin.
"is that you saying you like my hugs? so whenever i see you i should just hug you. i'll keep that in mind."
