Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

From the beginning of him caring about physical appearances, Arlo prized himself in being adorable. Those were the charming qualities of his appearance and attitude he desired men to notice. In the hellhound's opinion, the cuteness he displayed was his attractive quality. With Nicholas being his boyfriend, Arlo planned on turning those charming qualities up to the maximum! At the end of this date, he wanted the white-haired man's attention on him enough they spoke every day! Furthermore, this was the honeymoon phase of dating, a time to enjoy the highs of a new relationship before the serious kicked in.
[break][break]
The returned squeeze distracted Arlo for a moment, his eyes glancing at their connected hands. The smile on the hellhound's face softened as his eyes returned to Nicholas. He really liked this one. Compared to his previous boyfriends, Nicholas was proving to be among the best. The blush he received from tracing the white-haired hunter's cheek made Arlo's heart soar with endless amounts of euphoria. If the option was available, Arlo would stay in this moment forever, with Nicholas and their delectable bucket of cotton candy.
[break][break]
Moments later, Arlo was coaxed into walking, which he followed, plastic lid in hand. After some strolling around, they discovered a bench. A smile lit the hellhound's face as he followed Nicholas towards it. Happily, he sat beside the man, quick to lean his head against his muscular shoulder. Volos, why did he not date a hunter sooner?! So many wonderful muscles to rest his head against. This day was pure heaven and they were not finished yet. There were plenty of rides for them to explore and Arlo hoped to have lunch here.
[break][break]
A grin stretched on the hellhound's face as he placed the lid on his lap and fished out his phone. His arm extended, him snuggling against Nicholas being revealed in the camera.
[break][break]
"Say cheese!"
[break][break]
The two words were answered with a soft click of the camera. The dark-haired hellhound softly giggled after taking the picture, pulling the camera closer to admire it. He planned on taking a lot of pictures today. He required something to show to Chris when everything was done!

Wide-eyed and red hues glittering in sunlight, Arlo stared at Nicholas, waiting for his handsome boyfriend to ferry a piece of delicious cotton candy to his mouth. A broad smile stretched across the hellhound’s face as he stared at his beloved. He wanted those gorgeous hunter’s fingers to pinch some sugar cloud and bring it to his lips. Red embarrassment breached those magnificent cheeks, resulting in a giggle escaping Arlo. Nicholas was the definition of ADORABLE whenever he suddenly became flustered by the emotions.
[break][break]
Amusement flickered on the short-man’s face as he watched Nicholas, enjoying the sublime observations of his boyfriend’s face. So far, the white-haired man proved to be easily flustered by his remarks and Arlo would not register a complaint. Everything about it was adorable and innocent! When an agreement was reached, the short man’s smile widened. He would feel those magnificent fingers brush across his sensitive lips as cotton candy was carefully placed into his mouth! The hellhound’s heart fluttered at the thought as excitement roared through his veins.
[break][break]
Cotton candy was pinched between Nicholas’ fingers and brought closer to the hellhound’s lips. The sweetness cloud was brought near his mouth, Arlo opening for it to be placed upon his tongue. Softly, the man’s fingers grazed his lips. Slowly, he closed as his boyfriend’s hand pulled away, a lip-tight grin on his face. The cloud dissolved in his mouth, the sugary candy coating his tongue until he swallowed. Another round of giggling escaped Arlo’s lips after swallowing some of their candy prize.
[break][break]
“Thanks Nic!” He gleefully cheered.
[break][break]
A joyous hand squeeze punctuated Arlo’s words to represent his appreciation. He adored Nicholas for a variety of reasons, one being the man’s willingness to participate in his silly little games. Through the silliness, the white-haired man had, thus far, treated him with benevolence. The offering of the plastic lid caused Arlo’s brows to furrow... until he listened to Nicholas’ marvellous reason. An excited glint followed by a gasp as he stared at the white-haired man.
[break][break]
“YES!” He exclaimed.
[break][break]
Glee was portrayed on the hellhound’s fast as he hastily took the lid. In a smooth motion, the plastic circle was shifted beneath his arm. Closer, his fingers drew to the sugary cloud trapped inside the bucket and from there, his fingers pinched a small tuft. They carried the food closer to Nicholas’ beautiful lips with the intention of feeding him and perhaps, sneaking a moment to trace his left cheek to fluster him. He wanted his touch to be delicate, something soft as feathers, but a complete fluster-inducement.

Suffocated by the fanciful settings of the lavish Norwood Manor and constant business chatter around an ignorant dumbass being two seconds away from being exposed by the RCMP, Arlo decided to escape. When grandpa grew angered, the household became a location of nonstop lectures and endless amounts of ranting. The hellhound was innocent, an early morning's mission being flawlessly accomplished to his grandfather's liking, but he nonetheless wished to avoid the reprimanding. There were instances where during his rambling lectures, his grandfather would gather everyone, innocent or guilty, to listen!
[break][break]
Hence, when the opportunity arrived, Arlo skirted by the eagle-eyed grandparent and out the front door. The young man never submitted a request for opening the front gate, merely drew a hex circle and teleported. Would his grandfather bother to seek him out? Unlikely given the fault was not his to burden. Therefore, the dark-haired hellhound held theoretical freedom from listening to the loquacious lectures of the Head of House. Within moments, Arlo had hurried down the streets in the direction of the infamous Coastal Area.
[break][break]
He wandered, black and white checkered hightops kicking stones across the concrete sidewalk. The sounds of carnival traffic and crashing waves reached his noise-sensitive ears, prompting a glance. Lights shone, radiant against the dark backdrop of the night sky. The beautiful, illuminating lights in the distance manifested a slim smile across the hellhound's lips. If only Nicholas was not busy, he would have gladly walked to his apartment and hid from the wrath of his grandfather there. Unfortunately, couples were unable to spend time together 24/7 because of the bindings of work-related duties.
[break][break]
Therefore, Arlo was wandering the coastal area with a black, overhead sweater, blue jeans, his cellphone and a wallet with some cash. He required something to do before returning home with crossed fingers that the lectures magically finished... He doubted they would finish, grandpa had endless lectures. The scent of alcohol and bodies wafted into Arlo's nose as he approached the lit sign of a bar. The hellhound's eyes glanced at the illuminated neon sign, reading 'The Golden Crown' in large letters. A smile traced the dark-haired man's lips.
[break][break]
Bar scenes were always interesting, but one notion particularly amused Arlo. As a man engaged in a serious relationship, he adored informing flirtatious men and women about his status. The sheer opportunity to flaunt his TRS hunter boyfriend summoned endless amounts of joy for the dark-haired man. Besides, only the inebriated tended to shower him in those desires for meaningless one night stands... everybody else? Chances were they heard those words mumbled under breath about believed criminal ties, however, never any substantiated proof.
[break][break]
Nobody managed to ascertain the shady details about his grandfather's dealings, however, there was more than that. His grandfather was a figurehead of the criminal world and taking down a kingpin would potentially break the dams of criminal activity in Lorsette. In short, his grandfather's freedom was crucial to assure law enforcement would not become burdened by people who attempted to yank control. Not to mention, the innocent until proven guilty ideal kept them from laying down allegations because of lack of proof.
[break][break]
Money and power, it kept the Norwoods on top. They could purchase the best lawyers should law enforcement decide to deal with the overflowing dam and the methods of their criminal accomplishments removed evidence from the scene. Their vexing position was beyond amusing to the criminal hellhound. Merrily, Arlo pushed open the doors of the Golden Crown, ears hearing endless conversations and the sounds of a news broadcast while his nose detected the stench of alcoholic beverages and people. A smirk crossed his lips as Arlo immediately approached the bar.
[break][break]
A white-haired little girl was standing in front, rummaging for something... Why she was inside a bar was beyond Arlo... Smoothly, the young hellhound plucked his wallet from his pocket and provided his ID, unknowingly cutting in front of a customer.
[break][break]
"Can I get a Mike's Hard Lemonade, please?" Arlo requested, providing his ID first.
[break][break]
The bartender's fingers grasped the card, glancing over the dates before handing it back with a nod. The man behind the counter turned around to grab a can of Arlo's chosen drink. Meanwhile, the hellhound forked out the necessary funds for his alcoholic beverage. He planned on having one alcoholic drink before switching to soda to avoid nasty levels of intoxication. He was not the largest fan of having his mind completely distorted, therefore he was conscientious of the amount of liquor he drank.

Sugar clouds filled the plastic container, varying from a blue or pink colour. The availability of two flavours made the situation exciting! Their multicoloured cotton candy would undoubtedly be delicious, thus Arlo was overzealous about the situation. Everything about this day would be blissful in the hellhound’s opinion, solely from his boyfriend’s contributions; he ADORED the word boyfriend! Fingers intertwined, the criminal enjoyed the joyous time spent with the wondrous, handsome man. Memories of Nicholas' movements prompted a smirk.
[break][break]
The hellhound would not bring up the occurrence and instead silently celebrated his victory in purchasing their treat. Quietly, the black-haired criminal offered the bin, allowing Nicholas to pry off the lid. With the lid off, the sugary contents were revealed. A broad grin stretched onto Arlo's face as he stared at the precious puffs of delicious, pure-sugar goodness known as cotton candy! His eyes locked on the delicious contents, however, once again Arlo realized he ran into a single problem... He lacked an open hand to eat with.
[break][break]
Only moments later a playful smirk crossed Arlo's lips as he glanced at Nicholas. There would be further enjoyment on this marvellous date!
[break][break]
"Niiiiiic," he began, smirking flirtatiously. "Can you feed me cotton candy?"
[break][break]
An innocent smile was available for Nicholas when he glanced over. Patiently, Arlo waited for red to consume his boyfriend's adorable face, believing his flirting followed up promptly by an innocent smile would earn him a fluster.

A deep breath was taken in through Arlo’s nose. The short man’s sensitive smell discovering the fragrance of delightful deep-fried food and sugary treats. Those scents made the hellhound want to droll, but an occasional swallow of saliva solved the problem. A fool’s guise hardly suited the criminal and the situation made it an uncalled for countenance. He wanted to IMPRESS Nicholas, not gross him out! The sounds of giggling children and happy teens filled Arlo's ears, a smile stretching across Arlo's lips.
[break][break]
All these people would see HIM with Nicholas and become privy to their emotions with the manner Arlo snuggled his arm and remained close to Nicholas. A smile was plastered across the hellhound's face as he felt the white-haired man melt and enjoy their interaction. Blush coloured his boyfriend's cheeks at his giggles. The sublime scene brought a broadened smile to the criminal's lips as he stared at the handsome Nicholas. The flustered answer made Arlo's heartbeat rapidly as they agreed on their interaction was enjoyable.
[break][break]
Then only moments later did a flirtatious comment escape those gorgeous lips. A subtle red pigment consumed Arlo's cheeks while his heart fluttered inside its cage.
[break][break]
"You're so sweet, Nic," Arlo complimented.
[break][break]
The hellhound snuggled his cheek into Nicholas' arm, smile larger than ever. Hands intertwined, they ventured towards the cotton candy machine. The wide-eyed criminal stared at the delicious choices of cones and cotton candy buckets. His eyes glanced over the selection as Nicholas asked about the flavour. After a soft 'hmm' he pointed to one of the plastic buckets with both blue and pink cotton candy.
[break][break]
"Let's get that! Then we can have both!" Arlo exclaimed.
[break][break]
The man behind the stand grabbed the bucket of cloud-like sugar. Hastily, Arlo grabbed his wallet from his pocket and forked over some change in exchange for the delicious sweet. He glanced over at Nicholas with a happy smile and large, red eyes before returning to their treat. The bucket's thin handle was grabbed as Arlo led his boyfriend away. Briefly, his eyes went to the plastic lid before returning to Nicholas. A soft giggle left the hellhound's mouth as he thought of a sillier method to remove the lid.
[break][break]
"Want to help me?" Arlo asked his boyfriend.
[break][break]
The criminal adjusted his grip on the container, holding the bottom to allow Nicholas to peel off the lid. Perhaps it was a silly little game, however, he wanted their fingers to remain intertwined for the time being.

Gleeful giggles escaped Arlo's mouth as he happily snuggled Nicholas' muscular arm. This man was magnificent! Somebody filled with benevolence and coated with sugar! There were several men who the flirtatious, young hellhound dated through his years of exploration with romantic partners. Fortunately, Nicholas, in a mere few days, was already proving to be a significant improvement compared to those lust-hungry failures! Some picked pour locations to date, a majority attempting to be awe-striking with their wealth...
[break][break]
Who cared about riches?! His grandfather was already loaded and inside every upscale household he observed those flashy decorations designed to scream "WE ARE WEALTHY!" There was simply nothing interesting about those young men, few being considered an exception to those terms. Meanwhile, Nicholas was somebody polite and considerate of his emotions and incredibly adorable! It made Arlo's heart flutter wildly whenever he was around the white-haired man, his mind going ballistic from the positive vibes he received.
[break][break]
Light-hearted laughter left Arlo's mouth at Nicholas' confusion in regards to their trade. Even should the man's skills being considered subpar, the hellhound lacked any remote knowledge of cooking. Therefore, the hunter was crowned as a capable chef inside the kitchen. Those emotions were followed by a bashfulness that earned a genuine, blissful smile from the dark-haired criminal. The sweetness of Nicholas was winning over Arlo's heart with every passing minute. Gently, he rested his head against the white-haired man's arm with a smile.
[break][break]
"Yeah, it would be fun," he answered softly.
[break][break]
The hellhound's red eyes gazed around the carnival, searching their surroundings. A playful question escaped those heavenly lips, a grin dancing on his lips. Then a soft gasp escaped his lips as he saw a COTTON CANDY MACHINE! The cheerful criminal gently tugged the white-haired man's arm.
[break][break]
"Nic! Can we get cotton candy?! We can look for games while we eat it!" The dark-haired man joyously exclaim.
[break][break]
With those words, Arlo's hand slithered down, fingers intertwining with Nicholas' fingers. The action was accomplished without a second thought as he tugged the white-haired man towards the cotton candy machine. He could purchase a sweet treat for his darling boyfriend! Closeness to Nicholas was a blessing for the lovestruck, young hellhound. Absolute heaven was discovered in this magnificent date he desired ever since meeting the white-haired man on that Valentine’s Day evening. There was something different about the courageous hunter compared to the other men Arlo dated. He was benevolent and heroic, a genuine gentleman with a golden heart. It was something the hellhound admired about his recent love interest. Unlike his previous boyfriends, Nicholas proved to be a moralistic one.
[break][break]
The trait was a contrast against Arlo’s career path, but he discovered his heart fluttered just being around the kind man. Softly, the hellhound brought his head closer, hands admiring the man’s muscular arm as he snuggled him. Personality wise, Nicholas was incredibly sweet which was important, but Arlo would not complain about his handsome appearance. Together, they ventured through the carnival, people glancing their way. They would become aware that Nicholas was his boyfriend and nobody else would gain the opportunity to have him!
[break][break]
A gasp escaped Arlo’s lips when Nicholas mentioned never playing video games. With curious red eyes, he glanced at the white-haired man’s face, briefly admiring his enchanting features.
[break][break]
“I gotta teach you how to play, Nic!” Another gasp punctuated his words. “It can be a trade! You teach me to cook and I teach you to be the best gamer boy EVER!”
[break][break]
A giggle escaped Arlo’s lips after his offer as he rubbed his cheek against Nicholas’ arm in a cheerful snuggle. An exchange of skills sounded fun! Especially for the hellhound who wished to learn about cooking from his amazing boyfriend. When the criminal brought up his love to learn defensive skills, it sparked a new branch of conversation. Surprise embraced his expression when Nicholas suggested sparring against one another sometime. A gleeful followed the surprise as Arlo gazed up at the wonderful man, a giggle escaping at his boyfriend’s embarrassment.
[break][break]
“Niiiic, I would love to spar some time! Besides, you need to be an extra tough hunter and beat up all the baddies!” Arlo agreed happily.
[break][break]
A sparring match sounded marvellous considering the positives he would receive. It would improve both their skills, allowing them to survive in their frightful situations. Naturally, Nicholas did not require the knowledge of how that training was crucial for him.

A broad smile was plastered on Arlo's face as success arrived in a grand heap! By attending the magnificent carnival date with Nicholas, the hellhound managed to procure himself a boyfriend, and a handsome one! Glorious, muscular Nicholas, a TRS hunter who possessed an attractiveness that lured the criminal. Hastily, Arlo fetched his phone and snapped a wonderful picture of his white-haired boyfriend. The hellhound bore a large smile across his countenance. A soft click escaped Arlo's phone as it captured a photograph of him and Nicholas together.
[break][break]
In a mere few taps, Arlo opened the picture on his phone, pleased by the photograph. An adorable smile pinned the corners of Nicholas' face upwards, both appearing jovial about their recently created relationship. Gleeful giggles rose from the hellhound's mouth as he leaned closer, hands wrapping around his new boyfriend's arm as the ride lurched forward. When they reached the ground, the pair began walking away from the Ferris Wheel where their emotions were confessed. Prior to their venture through carnival grounds, Nicholas agreed to play his question game.
[break][break]
Grinning over-zealously, Arlo clung to Nicholas' arm, preparing to ask and reciprocate answers to learn more about his latest man. The hellhound happily gasped when the white-haired magnificent definition of man stated he enjoyed board games! Excitement filled his veins as he gleefully snuggled his boyfriend's arm, resisting the urge to answer until the question was reciprocated.
[break][break]
"I LOVE games! Board games, card games, but especially video games! Do you play them too, Nic?," Arlo excitedly inquired. "Oh! I also like learning self-defence. It makes me feel tough."
[break][break]
Learning self-defence, a lighter, more obscure way to hide the grim reality that orbited the dark-haired criminal. The hellhound was a killer, somebody capable of murdering another individual if required. Skillful and quick with a majority of weapons while maintaining a cheery exterior. People knew the Norwood Family were people to be feared, however, the financial powerhouse and crime influencer his grandfather was kept law enforcement from breaking down their doors with a warrant. Arresting Arlo's grandfather was a foolish move since he was among the crucial chess pieces anchoring the absolute chaos of crime.

Clueless and somewhat frightened by the current situation, Arlo attempting to maintain a calm composure or some semblance of one. Trapped in those chains was a mere child, somebody the hellhound would guess was frightened and uncertain. If Arlo guessed, the blond child was terrified of the current situation. Fire surrounded Arlo's hands, the ability being something the hellhound relied on throughout life. A snarl from the feral child reached the criminal's ears, however, he ignored it, red eyes fixated on the mysterious chains wrapped around Josuah.
[break][break]
Closer, Arlo's fire consumed hand closed the distance between the palm and the shadow-like chains restricting the blond boy. Fingers preemptively curled, prepared to grab the darkly-shaded chains, alas, the connection was nonexistent. Almost as though the chains were merely ghosts, Arlo's hand phased through the object as though they did not exist in this reality. The hellhound's red eyes widened as he gazed upon his flame-consumed hands before flitting back at the chains imprisoning the unfortunate boy.
[break][break]
"Wh-what the hell?!" Arlo shouted.
[break][break]
Cussing was never appropriate in front of children, however, given the circumstances, swears were the least of their worries. These chains were impervious to Arlo's fire manipulation and furthermore, his touch entirely. Translucent and ghost-like, these chains were nothing like anything the hitman had handled before. Subtle fear pulsed through Arlo's chest, heartrate accelerating as he winced. Concern was expressed across his facial features as uncertainty reigned supreme; he was clueless on how to rescue the blond.
[break][break]
Something mysterious was at play, alas, the nature of the magic was unknown to Arlo. There was obviously something amidst, the evidence existing in his sudden return to this location and finally, the chains themselves. Panicked, the black-haired hellhound glanced over the situation, trying to calm and search for a solution, alas, it was difficult...

Cracks in a regularly cheerful exterior were obvious even in Arlo's wolf form. Anxiously, his ears twitched, searching for sounds of movement in the thicket of trees around him. Brows raised as trees thickened further, making passage difficult as he attempted to return to Lorsette. Gradually, they thinned out which relieved the black-haired wolf as he scurried to the forest's edge. From the trees he leaped, landing onto the grass-covered ground and the large expanse of treeless land. Mounds of snow dotted the green fields while droplets of freshly melted ice dripped from the hanging over tree branches.
[break][break]
Instantly, the black wolf's red eyes widened broadly as he realized somehow he managed to return to Wanderer's Meadow. Briefly, Arlo glanced over his shoulder at the thicket of trees, fur bristling anxiously. Hesitance marked the hellhound's paws as he strode forward, eyes fixated on the forest around him. Endless concerns were filtering through the criminal's mind because of the unique situation. Drastically, everything altered into an ill-favourable circumstance where his life could potentially be at risk should cautionary measures be ignored.
[break][break]
The wind had dissipated entirely, weather conditions limited. Based on the peculiar circumstances, the hellhound was hasty to assume magic was at play. The type of magic was the question he truely desired to answer. Gradual steps carried Arlo through the meadow, red eyes searching briefly until he discovered a blond-haired boy where he original left the golden wolf. Ears detected the echoed words while his eyes witnessed the display occurring in front of him. Confusion resulted in Arlo's eyes flitting around until he noticed something circling the young boy, but was hardly visible.
[break][break]
A single inquiry echoed through the air between them as the mysterious child accused him of manifesting the current plight, alas, the wolf was not bothered by the allegation. Confused expressions were evident as Arlo cautiously ventured forward to sniff the mysterious chains circling the child. A few steps backwards were taken, the black-furred wolf taking a deep breath before allowing his body to change from wolf form. Paws, tail, ears and black fur disappeared into a regular pair of feet and hands, a fair complexion and a human face.
[break][break]
Communicating with the young boy would make the situation easier. Figuratively, they were trapped in a cage as somebody's playthings which meant they could only rely on one another. Slowly, Arlo stood from his hands and knees, eyes surveying the situation.
[break][break]
"I did nothing! Remember? I went running into the trees! I don't even know how I got back here," Arlo explained, subtle panic in his voice.
[break][break]
Anxiously, the hellhound glanced around, sighing as he inched closer to observe the mysterious chains. Escape was impossible if running through those trees would only return him to this location. Magic trapped them here without a clear method to exit the situation. Currently, Arlo had few options for escape, but among them was rescuing the kid and hoping he had some ideas. A deep breath entered his lungs as fire covered the black-haired man's right hand. Carefully, he reached to the chain, hoping something could be done about the present situation.

Obsessive aggression could become problematic in certain situations, but currently, Arlo was concerned about his physical health should he transform. The vulnerability which arrived with shifting was a frightful thought that remained locked in the hellhound’s mind. Risking the opportunity to converse with another individual in a secluded location was completely off the criminal's agenda; danger would be at the highest level. The entire situation was rather suspicious to Arlo, the sudden shift in emotions concerning the hellhound immensely.
[break][break]
While there were people more inclined to state it was merely wild tightening its grip around the man, making it difficult to lower his guard until humane thoughts were proven. Unfortunately, determining Tani's honest intentions were impossible based off a mere glance, the circumstances of their meeting making Arlo refuse to play nicely. When the man turned to leave, his body language displayed evidence of upset, the hellhound quieting his growls to merely stare. Further aggression was unnecessary, the black wolf somewhat wishing he could apologize for the situation which resulted in their meeting; if they interacted on friendlier terms, Arlo may have considered being nicer.
[break][break]
Tranquillity breached Arlo's body language, the black-furred hellhound straightening up as Tani made motions to leave. The glare subsided into an apologetic expression, the criminal hoping the mysterious man could perhaps notice it was merely fear which resorted to these judgemental actions. Ultimately, Arlo could not read minds and understand the intentions of his fellow people without discovering more about them. There would be no safe sanctuary amidst the open fields should he be attacked. There were only three people in the area including himself, the other two being complete strangers which resulted in little reliability should he require medical attention.
[break][break]
Silently, the criminal watched, curious towards Tani's story, but unwilling to proceed for conversational value. Perhaps a day would arrive where they could potentially cross paths on better terms, however, Arlo refused to be wounded from a foolish decision. Merely imagining it could allow the hellhound to think of the exact words his grandfather, Angel and Phoenix would use; especially Phoenix. The ancient ancestor trapped in a child's body would endlessly tease him, perhaps attempting to make him appear inferior in skill.
[break][break]
Briefly, Arlo's red eyes glanced towards the golden wolf, raising a brow to reveal the human thoughts beneath. He raised his muzzle slowly, sniffling the scents around the stranger, but discovered only wolf-like smells. Originally, the criminal thought the golden wolf was merely a lone wolf wandering the wilderness, but evidently, he remained when the pack approached and Tani transformed; most regular wolves would have fled. In confusion, the hellhound cocked his head to the right side briefly before he turned to silently take his leave.
[break][break]
Enough damage was done, the cheerful criminal doubting he would receive the enjoyable wrestling he desired. The notion brought a slowness to his steps, tail remaining rather stiff as he padded across the grass, black ears pricked for noise. Leaving the location he interacted with Tani was preferred in case his assumptions were correct and the olive-skinned man was a threatening force. These few actions ruined Arlo's morning, the hellhound deciding to retreat home and start texting his beloved boyfriend; he adored showering the handsome hunting in flirtatious remarks.

As he proceeded to walk through wanderer's meadow, heading the opposite direction of Tani, the criminal thought about potential date ideas. Automatically, Arlo assumed the golden wolf would no longer desire his company considering the aggressive behaviour he exhibited towards Tani, although, he kept his ears pricked for the sounds of paw steps.

Trust was a nonexistent entity in the current situation, a frightening stillness grasping the area, leaving the trio as the only creatures in the meadow. The hairs on Arlo's back stood on end, the hellhound taking a few slow steps backwards, teeth born as he growled in a low tone. Years of possessing a criminal alignment taught the cheerful man excellently in never providing trust unless somebody gave an incredible reason to warrant it. There were disadvantages in lending a stranger faith, particularly allowing one to be placed into a position of vulnerability.
[break][break]
The hellhound kept himself lowered to the ground, eyes narrowed in a glare as he awaited the stranger to provide a proper reason to trust him. Currently, the situation was ill-favourable to transform, Arlo being uncertain if the golden-coloured wolf remained his ally. Except for the subtle waving of wind through the branches and grass, the area was mostly motionless, appearing lifeless from the effects of winter. There were the distant caws of crows as they settled far from their location, quietly observing the altercation.
[break][break]
The ugly, metallic odour of blood entered Arlo's nostrils, resulting in the hellhound taking further steps back. Distance could easily become an advantage for the fire manipulator, the flames he could manifest at any given moment capable of covering those distances. The final unknown factor was the species of the golden wolf and the mysterious stranger who introduced himself as Tani. There were a variety of creatures who could transform into wolves, which would only limit the possibilities to a majority of animal-based shifters.
[break][break]
Certain thoughts were fixated on, Arlo knowing his ultimate objective would be safely returning home to his loved ones. Those individuals who showered him with attention were the people he always desired to interact with at the end of every day. There were still missions his grandfather required him for, his childish ancestor to tease, a brother to hug-tackle and a boyfriend to text and display endless affection to. Pondering their reactions should he manage to get injured increased Arlo's resolve, fueling his inability to completely trust this stranger.
[break][break]
While he refused to outright assault the stranger, Arlo wanted to make his lack of trust evident in hopes Tani would speak more, perhaps potentially providing a reason to earn his trust. Fortunately, the hellhound knew he could run through invoking his enhanced speed and he was a mere teleportation hex away from home, although, the question was if escape was possible. Originally, the criminal had entered the wilderness fantasizing about the possibility of enjoyable wrestling with another wolf, but suddenly it transformed into a frightful standoff.
[break][break]
The sheer mentioning of shifting into human form to talk resulted in Arlo's ears pressing down against his head, the hellhound glaring as he shook his head, answering 'no'. Vulnerability arrived with shifting, the hellhound already imagined the massive scolding he would receive if he survived getting struck down after transforming at a foolish time. Furthermore, the guessing game would be rather unfair considering the options were minimal for the stranger; dark fur accompanied by fire manipulation would make it obvious he was a hellhound.
[break][break]
More steps were taken backwards, Arlo desiring to escape his current situation despite his own fighting capabilities. Injuries were unnecessary currently, especially considering by evening, the criminal would be grabbing his weaponry and accomplishing a job in the glorious and infamous name of the Norwood family.

Brilliant flames proceeded to lick towards the sky, Arlo displaying a row of sharp, off-white teeth in the desperate hope of making the wolves desire to leave. Fire usually proved to become an excellent fear tactic, a majority of creatures fleeing when faced with the bright colours of the flames, however, the wolves merely hesitated. Carefully, the hellhound lowered himself to the ground, releasing a nasty growl in hopes of frightening the mysterious wolves. While Arlo could easily fight against the wolves, he preferred the notion of avoiding the nasty dispute.
[break][break]
The wretched, sickening smell of blood filled Arlo’s sensitive nostrils, promptly covering the human-like scents. Admittedly, there was uncertainty to the variety of smells entering the air, which resulted in the criminal maintaining a guarded expression. The standoff was silent, the wolves staring as the flames sparked hesitance, but not fear. These could not possibly be regular wolves, but perhaps something more sinister treading through the Lorsette wilderness.
[break][break]
While the group of wolves remained in the field, the sounds of squawking birds and scurrying creatures fleeing the area where the fire was prominent. There were plenty of puddles and mounds of snow to demolish the flames should they spread, however, Arlo remained cautious. Off to his side, the hellhound noticed a wolf proceed to rush, the golden one promptly scaring it. The creature turned tail and fled, others following, except for a single grey wolf.
[break][break]
A deep growl escaped Arlo’s mouth as he watched the wolf proceed forward, his nose narrowly catching the scent of man. The creature shifted, leaving himself vulnerable while the hellhound extinguished his flames momentarily, figuring he could handle a single opponent if needed. The criminal merely narrowed his eyes, seriousness taking over Arlo for the instance. This man desired to instigate a fight only a few moments ago suddenly came stating them “friends” and appearing to want peace.
[break][break]
The entire situation kept Arlo from trusting the mysterious individual, the black hellhound knowing to transform back could potentially leave him vulnerable for attack. After serving as a criminal for years, he knew only those most deserving should be provided trust, but never fully given unless rewarded. There was nobody else in the immediate area, which meant things could become sketchy quickly should the hellhound decide to drop his guard.
[break][break]
Only the gods knew how many people could potentially be prepared to murder Arlo after the numerous sins he accomplishes. There were always new individuals added to the endless list because of his many crimes, thus the hellhound refused to provide the new stranger with any trust.

A cold wind ruffled Arlo's black fur as he gleefully ran towards the golden coloured wolf, a series of cheerful yips leaving his mouth. The hasty gambolling over towards the other wolf, desperately hoping there would be playful fun in the entire action. Wrestling with another wolf could easily become a manner to release stress and spark immense emotions of joy; there were numerous moments when he would wrestle with his boyfriends. The activity was exhilarating, although, more romantic considering the close proximity featured between himself and his partner.
[break][break]
There was a certain intimacy in those moments, but Arlo planned for this to be harmless playing; merely an enjoyable time of relaxation and exercise. In the distance, crows cawed, wings flapping as they flew overhead, hiding in the trees beyond. A stillness breached the area, suggesting potential danger in the immediate area, however, the hellhound displayed a careless to the natural signs of impending danger. There remained an uncharacteristic wag to Arlo's tail, something wolves never did consider their feral nature.
[break][break]
While Arlo approached the golden wolf, he remained unbeknownst to the awareness and consciousness the wolf possessed; clueless to the human inside the wolven form. Everything the golden coloured wolf did was similar to the feral creatures, the scent is exactly like a regular wolf, albeit, with a minor difference which provided recognition. Despite the tense body language of the mysterious wolf, Arlo proceeded forward, paws carrying him forward. The narrowed gaze and standing position was not daunting to the criminal as he gleefully kept yipping and displaying signs of friendliness.
[break][break]
Suddenly, a lone, menacing howl echoed through the still, cold air which resulted in the hellhound stopping dead in his tracks. There was always something eerie about the drawn-out howling from a wolf's call which always surprised Arlo, especially considering his delicate ears easily detected the call was not friendly. Immediately, the criminal's tongue returned to his mouth as he glanced back towards the pack of wolves. Through the steam manifested from his breath, he saw them on the distant hills, gathering into a formation.
[break][break]
Based on the context of the scenario and their drawn back lips which revealed rows of sharp teeth, Arlo managed to detect there was tension between those wolves and the golden one preparing a battle stance. A friendly morning of potential playtime suddenly turned sinister as the gravity of the situation settled comfortably on the criminal's shoulders. A courageous expression breached Arlo's face, the hellhound's eyes narrowing as he realized escape was simply ridiculous. They were outnumbered, making it easier for the opposition to construct ambushes and potentially kill them.
[break][break]
Despite searching for a playmate, the criminal knew to risk injury to be an idiotic idea, thus he took a few slow steps forward. Falsely, he believed the entire situation merely involved regular wolves who would all be easily frightened away by the trick up the dark-furred wolf's sleeve. There was no hesitation as Arlo smoothly invoked the flames, creating a miniature fire which encompassed his form. The fire clung to his body, although, refused to burn his fur as it licked the sky. The grass beneath turned black in the small circle which Arlo stood, but he made certain the flames would not stretch and consume the field.
[break][break]
The small, black wolf lowered himself to the ground, growling at the opposition and menacingly barking at them, praying they would merely turn tail and leave. While Arlo was a cheerful killer among people, he preferred to avoid needlessly torturing animals. People could accomplish horrible things and make people feel unwanted like the maid once did, while animals merely tried to survive. Against the dull colours of spring only beginning to break, Arlo's flames appeared brilliant, popping against the environment.
