appearance When one gazes upon Arlo, they will likely first notice how short he is considering he only comes in at a height of 5’5” which makes him about 4 inches shorter than the average height. He is a very light weight and has never possessed much muscle mass which makes him easy to over-power in physical situations. This also allows him to be knocked around easily, but due to his enhanced endurance, Arlo is capable of taking those hits. When it comes to his complexion, Arlo has a fair skin tone that lacks blemishes. On occasion there can be injuries or dirt on Arlo, but uses he gets cleaned off. Healing hexes are oftentimes are used to keep his skin free of injuries. When there is an injury, it usual means that it was small enough for Arlo to tolerate or he has yet to get to a safe location to heal himself. There are not many abnormalities in Arlo’s appearance, his arms and legs being average for his small form. However, his form is thin and this transfers to the appearance of his arms and legs. Unlike the rest of his body, his face is a little chubbier and thus retains a more round appearance. Arlo’s hair is black and usually well-kept due to constant insistence from his grandparents. His hair is oftentimes straight and rarely has any pieces sticking out. Although, when it is slightly wet it can be a bit curlier than usual if he does not brush it. This usually occurs on the rare occasions there are pieces sticking out. His hair is medium length and frames his face. When it comes to his eyes, they are by all means an interesting feature. They are a bright red and seem to sparkle in the light. They have a ruby shade to them and are rather big, adding to his innocent appearance. It is not uncommon for Arlo’s lips to be pulled up into a broad grin. As of clothing, Arlo usually switches from casual and formal most frequently. Formal attire is often worn during working hours or social gatherings that require it. Sometimes dress shirts get worn leisurely if Arlo is in that mood. Personally, Arlo prefers casual clothing that he believes makes him look cute. Large hoodies are one of his favourites, since they keep him warm and cozy; he often wears his hood up. Furthermore, he likes wearing toques with animals on them in winter since he minds them cute. As of pants it is a switch between jeans or dress pants since he finds both comfortable. Sometimes he will wear gloves or pendant his grandfather gave him if he feels up to it. His casual wear often consists of graphic t-shirts or simple plain colours; usually they do not contain any of his more gorey interests unless he is going to a related convention. His hound form is a black wolf looking creature that, similar to Arlo, is rather small and thin. In this form he maintains his red coloured eyes, but for the most part it is difficult to tell otherwise. Even in his wolf form, Arlo appears to be very content. personality
abilities Hexes -- Intermediate Can only be excessed in human form! Like a majority of hellhounds, Arlo is capable of using hexes as a result of his demonic side. He excels best at disguise hexes which he uses regularly to assure that he is not captured by law enforcement. Due to extensive use, Arlo is capable of keeping the hex going for a long period of time. Although, it can waver if he is blessed or exhausted. Healing is next on Arlo’s list of capability with hexes which was skill he picked up to assist him after his missions. The main crux with his healing hexes is Arlo’s sloppiness with drawing them. He tends to put too much blood in one location which tends to malform the hex circle. Sight and teleportation are about even in matching since Arlo has troubles keeping them functional when tired. Sight is oftentimes used only in present time to gather the location of his victim and teleportation is only used if a quick get away is required. Summoning is where Arlo does poorly in and constantly finds himself unable to summon certain creatures. Unlike most people, when he uses this the value he can summon is halved. With all his hexes, he can not perform them when he is tired or low on energy. Hellhound Shift -- Intermediate When it is required, Arlo can shift into a small, black wolf which is referred to as his hound form. He is fairly capable with shifting, however, does take a slightly longer time to transform unlike most hellhounds. It takes Arlo roughly 40 seconds to transform back and forth; the reasoning for this is unknown. When incredibly exhausted, Arlo can not shift remotely since it would expend too much energy. If Arlo gets severely injured in his hound form he will automatically shift back into his human form and be unable to transform for days. It is believed that his hound form causes him to be more excitable than most people. Enhanced Strength -- Intermediate Fire Manipulation -- Advanced Most of Arlo’s skill is placed in manipulating fire and he is immensely capable in using the ability to his advantage. He is able to make very intense fire and control larger quantities of fire than an average manipulator. Naturally, there is a limit to this and the more that is controlled the more Arlo has to focus which can lead to moments of not paying attention to his immediate surroundings. Creating fire consumed more energy and should Arlo be soaking wet, he would be unable to create any fire until he is dry. If Arlo is too tired, this ability can at times cease functionality or can cause him to faint if pushed too far. This can occur in extensive battles or if Arlo has been without proper food and rest. Natural Abilities: Enhanced Endurance, Fire Immunity, and Enhanced Senses backstory Trigger Warning: Violence Prior to being born, Arlo’s parents were high school sweethearts. His father coming from a family of common wealth while his mother was the daughter of a notorious crime boss in Lorsette. Arlo’s grandfather, Kurt Norwood, was a wealthy man and due to his roots in business and control over a portion of the criminal community, could not be taken down from police efforts. Markus was a thorough man, making certain all proof was cleaned and that all witnesses were either unable to fight back or were eliminated. It caused a vast majority of people to leave him alone, to allow him privilege to his criminal throne. Unlike her father, Arlo’s mother hated the concept of doing crime, causing her to leave when she turned 18, her father disowning her in the process. After she left, she got married to Arlo’s father and shortly became pregnant with him. The family was happy, and once Arlo was born his parents felt like the happiest people in the world. Although, there was a problem involving finances since they lacked support which caused the family to live in poor conditions. Constantly, Arlo’s parents had to work to make certain their son was safe and happy, but it transformed into their downfall. There was night that the pair were desperate for a babysitter a hired someone after a quick interview before heading out the door. A reckless, but benevolent attitude from Arlo’s parents shortly caused them to lose the one thing most important to them. The babysitter was an associate of his grandfather who, after his parents were thoroughly gone, took the child from the home after leaving a large mess. It made the conditions look squalid and poor which was merely the beginning to causing people to believe Arlo’s parents were horrible ones. The child was whisked away to his grandpa and treated with the best of care to assure his grandfather’s version of a proper upbringing. Only a mere few days were court cases filed for the custody of the child, Arlo’s grandfather claiming that neither parent had the capability to care for him. Ultimately, his grandfather manipulated the case into his favor which allowed him to win and keep Arlo under his care. With that, his parents lost something that was treasured and has no visitation rights to add salt to the wound. This has resulted in Arlo never truly meeting his parents. Despite his grandfather’s strict and formal attitude, he became the face Arlo came to know and love alongside a fun-loving servant girl who became a motherly figure to Arlo. Due to consistent business and various other reasons, the young boy spent a majority of his time with the servant. The young woman influenced a large portion of Arlo’s personality and made him the childish and cheerful teen he is today. Arlo always enjoyed his time spent with the servant girl who would teach him in addition to the private schooling the child already received. She was oftentimes the one who assisted him with homework and would go lengths to even inform him to further information and at times will ramble beyond his age-based skill level. It developed his intelligence greatly and allowed for Arlo to excel in his studies, alas, in front of his the servant he would pretend to struggle. During his younger school years he enjoyed time spent with the lady he considered a mother to him, but things change in time. Around when Arlo was 8, his grandfather took him out on a boat which was an enjoyable pastime he desired to share with his grandson. A majority of the time, the young boy was being watched by his peers. It was until another boat caught their attention that Arlo was stuck under their restricting eyes. Like a good portion of children, Arlo sought the desire to free himself from his lifejacket with the thought of the safety device not being necessary. Once freed, the young boy found himself happily gazing over the side of the boat with more comfort than before. Only a few moments later did he believe that he noticed something in the water and reached out for it which ultimately caused him to fall. While in the water, Arlo found himself trashing and sinking since he never learned to swim. His grandfather being hard of hearing did not take notice until a few moments later when his grandson was already beneath the water. The elderly man dove into the water to save Arlo who was dragged onto the boat in an unconscious state and given CPR. Later that day, he woke up in a hospital with the horrible memories from nearly drowning still in his mind. There is never a day that passes that Arlo does not forget one mysterious night when his grandfather got his servant friend to fetch him. He was around 10 at the time, when he led to the basement and shown a vast amount of weaponry. It was shoved into his hands and he was taught to use it which also progressed to hand-to-hand combat alongside how to control his powers. The various guards in the house shortly transformed into people he would sparr with on occasion and his skills became sharpened. Although, with the consistent development on his combat skills his relationship with the servant girl gradually drifted further and further apart. It had become obvious to Arlo that she was avoiding him and whenever they occupied the same room, she never looked at him. If her gaze touched him, it would immediately be averted even if he had yet to notice. Their conversation grew fewer and over the course of about two years they rarely spoke. The silence bothered Arlo, but whenever he asked the servant woman to play with him she would merely say “no” and walk away. Still being a clingy person at his young age, this began to upset the young boy greatly. Alas, the servant woman at the very least remained in the manor which allowed him to cling to her every so often should she permit it. However, the relationship they shared was always destined to change. Arlo’s malicious and destructive attitude kicked in around when the age of 13 when his grandfather began showing him violent movies and allowing him to assist the various hitmen that worked beneath him. He began learning his occupation to come and his grandfather even went lengths to teach Arlo thievery and would run various tests to assure his grandson would not get caught easily. Only a few months later did his grandfather insist on putting Arlo to the test, which included the boy’s first kill. He was taken to house and informed to assist in the fighting of which he succeeded. Then, the hitman who was told to accompany gave him the knife and informed Arlo to finish the man off. At first, there was skepticism until the insistence continue and despite the man’s pleading, the rolling tears down the victims eyes and the screaming, Arlo did what he was told. When he returned that night, the servant woman saw him with that cheerful grin on his face despite the blood that soaked his work clothes. That was the night she left and never looked back. The manor seemed oddly empty without her cheerful face around, but Arlo refused to notice since he began clinging more to his grandfather, the other servants, and his co-workers. It shortly became the young teen’s hope that if he clung enough to those around him, that perhaps they would remain in his life. Around when Arlo became 15 was when he began developing his flirtatious attitude and had a tendency to flirt with any guy he found attractive. This resulted in a few relationships, but a majority were fellows hoping to manipulate him from pleasure. They naturally noticed his child-like behavior and thought they could exploit it, alas, Arlo was always smarter. The moment the young teen discovered their intentions was when he would malicious dump them, degrading them slightly in the process for some petty teenage revenge. Although, this mostly consisted of text messages that were more of harassment towards Arlo than romantically inclined talking. Despite this occurrence, some still attempted to capture their own desires, but would always fail. None truly captured Arlo’s heart or fitted his tastes in full, thus the teen merely played the game for his own amusement. It was when Arlo became 17 that he finally saw the servant woman passing on the street and rushed over to greet her. The teen was hoping for happy greetings, a hug and perhaps a chance to catch up. Alas, instead of receiving a friendly hello the servant woman told him to leave her alone. Naturally, Arlo insisted against it and begged for the chance to catch up with his beloved friend and motherly figure. She continued to refuse and eventually left the boy upset in the street where he was quick to return home. This furthered Arlo’s clinginess since he began feeling that distance from another person was a recipe for disaster. Ultimately, the teen became very clingy to those around him who were on his good side in hopes the distance from his enemies would gradually cause them to fade away; it worked with the servant woman after all. As the years continued, Arlo only grew closer to his grandfather in a sense. Although, he is unaware that his grandfather only cares about Arlo’s use to his criminal empire. Naturally, his grandson does have a small place in his heart and his grandfather made certain to keep him out of trouble and away from jail time. His grandfather does not allow him to deal with the other pieces of the criminal business. ★ Due to doing it for so long, Arlo sees nothing wrong with murder and thievery. It would take a lot to convince him otherwise. ★ Despite enjoying it, Arlo only kills when commanded or required. He never part takes in it as a recreation activity. However, he has been known to go animal hunting with his grandfather. ★ Arlo’s grandfather forced him to practice piano, thus Arlo is very good at playing piano. Although, he is on the fence about how much he likes it. ★ Arlo is an infamous thief and hitman in Lorsette. The reason why he remains out of prison is due to his grandfather’s immense power and lack of compelling evidence. Even catching him in the act of crime does little to cause Arlo to be heading to jail since his grandfather will destroy all evidence and work efficiently to keep his grandson out of jail.
