Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Precious minutes gained through the offer to introduce Seth to the store Madelyn worked at. Lonesomeness could be warded for another few minutes, furthermore, he gained a business relationship from the situation. Then afterwards, he would retreat home and throw himself into some well-needed distractions. Perhaps read one of the many books he freshly purchased or find something else to distract him. Loneliness was great sufferance for the earth dragon, therefore, he found himself hopeful his freshly created acquaintanceship would assist in settling nerves.
[break][break]
The brown-haired dragon attempted a small smile in return to Madelyn's before falling in behind her. Both parties were prepared to begin their venture down to the flower shop where the purple-haired woman worked. Together, they escaped the confines of the small store, Madelyn holding the door open as she exited. The dragon accepted the offer, accomplishing a quick over the shoulder glance to assure more patrons were not exiting. Upon realizing nobody followed behind them, Seth allowed the door to shut behind him.
[break][break]
During his step out, she listened to Madelyn mention the store's location, to which he nodded. As they walked, casual conversation was bound to ensue, the woman initiating with the inquiry of if he was from around Lorsette.
[break][break]
He shook his head. "No, I came from somewhere quite different now. But I have lived in Lorsette long enough to know my way around. Are you from around here?"
[break][break]
The question was asked to impart from curiosity, but also to continue the conversation. As a duo, they walked the sidewalks, crossing a crosswalk and following Madelyn's directions. Eventually, they reached the third shop down as Madelyn described and entered. They entered the store, an individual standing behind the counter, to which the purple-haired woman declared their arrival. Quietly, the dragon glanced around the store, accomplishing an initial inspection of the area.

Relief flooded through the veins of the dragon who consistently suffered from lonesomeness. An opportunity to stave the hungering wolves searching to chomp away at his weaknesses. Those evenings spent in the apartment were always among the worse, especially throughout the work-slow days of winter's freeze. Therefore, he leapt at the chance to escape the inner demons who haunted him during his darkest times. Every minute spent in someone's company was another spared from handling his inner turmoil and abandonment issues.
[break][break]
A plastic smile was returned as a remembrance of his intentions surfaced in the back of his mind. Everything he wished for revolved around escaping the sorrows of his life. They were a constant, malignant force haunting his mind and reminding him of the bad things. How Victor was forced to leave him. How his parents carelessly abandoned him without a second thought. How he struggled to reform those long-lost connections... The wish of escapism from those thoughts motivated him to socialize, but the haunting of another happening of it kept from proper relationships being formed.
[break][break]
When asked about books, the dragon merely shook his head. He craved distractions, however, he wanted to proceed with his interactions between Madelyn. The woman offered him work, precious jobs good for future avoidance of handling one's mental problems. With the exchange, they approached the checkout, Seth waiting patiently behind Madelyn. He observed her pay for her books before accomplishing something similar. Some quick scans, agreeing to want a bag before handing over payment in the form of cash.
[break][break]
Once finished, he turned to the purple-haired woman who recently finished her phone call.
[break][break]
"Ready to go?" Seth asked politely.
[break][break]
When the time arrived to leave, the dragon planned on following Madelyn to the shop. She knew the directions best, thus he planned on placing his trust in her.

[attr="class","crashBody"]
He believed everything over because of the framing of their conversation and simply the patterns of his life... Goodbyes were painfully common and frequently permanent... Sometimes, those people never wished to leave his life, like the infamous Victor Maier... his adopted father... The person who genuinely wanted him in his life. Promises of reconnection fell short when Victor never arrived at their meeting place. A separation that broke the earth dragon's heart. His eyes clouded over at the thought of the only person who cared for him.
[break][break]
His fixation on the shelves of books strayed, mind delving into those forbidden thoughts. Thinking about the loneliness of his heart was an illegal action... The depression caused by the churning gears of sorrow ponderance grasped his neck and squeezed; it tightened his throat. Immediately, thoughts were shoved aside as he inhaled a breath of serenity and exhaled it slowly. There was no place for those twisted memories of lonesome sorrow. Luckily, Miss Fortune granted him a gift as the purple-haired woman cut their farewell and instead suggested heading to her place of business.
[break][break]
Ease settled over Seth, his eyes brightening as they locked on Madelyn. The reassuring nodding followed by the providing of an option was appreciated... It was an escape... a way to avoid those overwhelming, obnoxious emotions.
[break][break]
"That sounds wonderful," he answered, accepting the invitation.
[break][break]
For minutes longer he could stave the hungry wolves circling his emotional state. Accepting the invitation meant the inevitable journey towards the checkout. He would search for the other book later. When they approached the front counter, Seth would allow Madelyn to purchase her items first.

The advantages of interacting with other individuals consisted of new clients, however, Seth was enjoying their conversation. For a few moments, the freelancer discovered comfort that staved the loneliness in his life. A relief from the painful reality of lacking family and friends with additional benefits. It left a soft smile on the dragon's lips as he interacted with the purple-haired girl. It was something quaint, a smile one expected from customer service workers attempting to satisfy a customer, albeit, with less distress.
[break][break]
A nod of response was granted to her mentioning of him being among the first she would call should something break. As anybody attempting to make a living, Seth appreciated the offer handed to him. During the winter, business slowed substantially as people no longer wished for exterior renovations or landscaping. Most of his income during these months received contributions from snow shovelling and grocery runs. It paled in comparison to the amount received for larger projects available in the snowless months.
[break][break]
Lawn mowing, painting, repairs, landscaping along with a variety of other tasks wished upon him went lengths to keep him afloat. He learned that quickly... He nodded as she explained her business; a vague one. She handled the arrangements rather than the large scale orders.
[break][break]
He nodded as he spoke, "I can stop by. Business slows down in the winter for me."
[break][break]
There was always time during the frigid months, unfortunately... Winter was among the worse to ponder the endless emotions of lonesomeness... The suffocation and fear of having nobody there to provide comfort or encouragement... to be forgotten should he disappear... As she mentioned heading to the counter, he shook his head.
[break][break]
"No, thanks for your help," he responded, quieter than before. "Goodbye."
[break][break]
Within a few minutes, the end of their conversation arrived... meaning he would return to the dark abyss of standing beside one's self. There were no other choices. Abrupt outbursts in proclamation to loneliness were hardly welcomed by mere acquaintances. Thus, he bottled it up, stepped aside and warranted her access to head towards the checkout. Meanwhile, his eyes gradually shifted to the shelved books, a sigh breathing through his lips as feelings were shoved away to search for the book he originally intended on purchasing.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
There were a variety of things Seth managed to accomplish as a freelancer. Tasks consisted of repairs, painting and landscaping, but the dragon occasionally accomplished other small scale requirements for people. Carrying in groceries for older ladies, shovel snow, picking up items for people or anything of the sort on the behalf of others. Through these pleasant actions he gained connections and precious moments where loneliness would be staved. Accomplishing these tasks rescued him from days spent in a tiny apartment by his lonesome...
[break][break]
Anything he could grasp for occupation was welcomed in hopes of fixating on other topics. By mentioning his freelancing career, the young, purple-haired woman requested his business card despite potentially not having many jobs for him. The brown-haired dragon shrugged at Madelyn, not minding should there be a lack of jobs for him. The more clients, the higher likelihood of Seth receiving jobs to support himself and act as distractions. The books were pushed against his chest with his left arm while the right hand dipped into his jean pocket to hand over the business cards he regularly carried with him.
[break][break]
"I do not mind if there is not much to do, I just appreciate having a job to do," Seth explained with a soft smile.
[break][break]
When questioned in regards to his enjoyment, Seth grinned at him and nodded at the inquiry. Freelancing was something the dragon discovered a passion in. He found happiness in assisting others, therefore, the brunette was prepared to offer his services to others.
[break][break]
"I like helping people," he informed her in a simple sentence.
[break][break]
Their conversation delved into the concept of occupations as Madelyn shared her's. The soft woman held a gentleness that made her flowers associated occupation sensible. Based on appearance, the purple-haired woman seemed like an individual who would enjoy those beautiful plants. He nodded at her offer, a soft smile touching his face. Regularly, he merely listened to people and occasionally provided his words, but he enjoyed a pleasant interaction sometimes.
[break][break]
"Do you just do bouquets or do you sell flowers to plant as well? I do landscaping and help with gardening sometimes, so maybe I could suggest your business," the dragon offered her.
[break][break]
The young woman benevolently took his card and offered jobs should something come up, therefore, offering a mutual perk only seemed right. Therefore, suggesting her business and spreading the word was a return of her willingness to assist him.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
As a freelancer, Seth tended to possess automatic responses to offer his services to another individual. Not merely from the benevolence in displaying manners to a stranger, but also for the advantages. Offering one’s services would spread the message and effectively operate as ‘free advertising’ for an independent worker. While the concept was not the original intention of offering his labours, it was an additional perk. People needed to earn their living, thus some through the grapevine sharing never hurt… at least when referring to a happy customer.
[break][break]
There were few customers displeased with his work, but those who scrutinized harshly or held disdain towards Heaven species always discovered a minuscule flaw to rant about. Although, this situation was more of a passive mention to his reading preferences. Literature geared towards teaching individuals to repair items, housing pieces or even create things like shelving was Seth's strong suit. He listened to the woman's words about him wanting suggestions. A gentle smile touched Seth's cheeks when the Madelyn mentioned how he wanted her suggestions.
[break][break]
"Yes, I'm a freelancer. So they are very useful," Seth explained.
[break][break]
Repairs, building, painting and even landscaping were among the many tasks accomplished by the earth dragon. Therefore, Seth maintained his knowledge of those actions through reading and keeping up to date with standards. It was his responsibility after all.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
Their introduction was all definitions of pleasant and enjoyable for the dragon. A gentle hint of a smile graced his lips as he regarded the woman with a warmer expression than before. It was not the representation of light and holiness, however, enough to send the message of subtle appreciation. There was nothing more to the smile, for its tiny size hardly suggested overwhelming benevolence and amiability. The woman, Madelyn, proved to be pleasant company at this current moment. A delightful conversation in regards to literature was both a valuable distraction and productive.
[break][break]
People were a crucial step in assuring loneliness would be staved for a few more precious minutes. It relaxed Seth to hold these sweet moments despite them eventually coming to an end... they always did. Those around him never remained in his life, always leaving and causing him an endless slew of complications. Friendship, or even an acquaintanceship, was indispensable for somebody like Seth. The continuous loss inflicted endless amounts of pain on his heart, however, temporarily he could feel a wondrous warmth inside his heart from their current situation.
[break][break]
Assistance was offered in return for the services Madelyn provided him, alas, the purple-haired lady did not require it. He nodded at Madelyn's words. There was no joining in the laughter, the man's lack of emotion making itself available, although, it shortly shifted to suggestions. A soft 'hmm' of thought hummed from the man's closed lips.
[break][break]
"I am not the best for suggestions... I read a lot of repairing books," Seth quietly mused.
[break][break]
Suggestions were never his strong suit, especially in regards to books. He read a variety of literature, but not always for his intrigues, rather, he invested his time reading things other people enjoy... Connections were desired, therefore, he read things that allowed for those to manifest.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
On several occasions throughout their interaction, the purple-haired woman proved to be intriguing. It was nothing abnormal for people to enjoy a macabre genre of stories. The mysterious nature followed by the unexpected twists and turns with bursts of shocking descriptions was interesting. These were stories Seth never thoroughly indulged in, then again, the freelancer invested his time in working. He discovered a blissful connection with others when he assisted with fixing, painting and various other forms of housework.
[break][break]
The dragon carefully cracked open the book, gazing over the words while the comforting smell of new pages wafted to his nose. A wonderful scent he found pleasant to his nostrils. The brunette would enjoy reading these pieces of literature as a formulated Christmas distraction. A pair of suggestions along with another book would hopefully be enough to assure he would be distracted through the holidays. He listened to the woman's name when she provided it. The friendliness she outwardly displayed was welcoming.
[break][break]
"Seth," he answered.
[break][break]
The comment about her literature choices prompted laughter from the young woman. He gave Madelyn a warm, albeit, brief smile in an attempt to return that friendliness.
[break][break]
"Do you need anything, Madelyn?" He inquired to the young woman.
[break][break]
She assisted him with finding books, therefore, he should openly return the favour. He needed to return the politeness to Madelyn, it was the right thing to do.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
The purple-haired stranger appeared interested in books with crazy plots, although Seth held no complaints on the matter. The stories contained inside the pages sounded intriguing, especially with the manner the woman explained them. These would definitely be among the better choices to keep himself entertained through the holidays. Staving those suffocating emotions of lonesomeness was a requirement after all. Hopefully, this year would be easier than the previous ones he suffered through, missing his adopted father along with others who passed.
[break][break]
The freelancer’s calloused hands glanced over the first book, eyes reading the summary to confirm the stranger’s words. Unconsciously, his hand reached for his chin, pointer finger curling while the thumb remained straight on his face. Curiosity flickered in his eyes as he read the summary of the first chosen book. The literary material was a marvellous choice, although, one Seth did not initially expect to be sold by a store of this decorum. He genuinely believed the store would have fixated on something less mysterious and prefer dramatic love stories or teen fictions.
[break][break]
The woman’s small laugh prompted the slightest hint of a smile from Seth, alas, it faded quickly. A nod was given in response to her truthful words. Another nod was provided when the stranger began searching for more books. The brown-haired man raised a brow as he watched her for a few moments.
[break][break]
“What is your name? If you do not mind me asking,” Seth inquired.
[break][break]
The mysterious, purple-haired stranger was assisting him, therefore, it felt polite to ask her name. Only moments later did she manage to find another book for Seth to add to his reading list. A soft ‘hmm’ escaped his lips as he grabbed the next suggested book to take a look at it. The man’s brown eyes looked over the cover before reading the back. After years of war, Seth was not squeamish to darker topics.
[break][break]
“You have quite the taste in books,” the dragon commented.
[break][break]
With those words, he began reading the summary provided on the back of the book. He was intrigued because of the synopsis given by the purple-haired woman, thus he read the words carefully.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
Book types and stories hardly mattered to Seth as he searched for the distraction he craved for. The holidays were among the worse moments to be alone. Throughout those days, the lonesome dragon struggled to resist the urge to think about happy families sharing their Christmas dinners or friends celebrating New Year's Eve. Destiny placed him upon a road, desolate and without permanent faces existing in his life, touching his heart. Motivation to strive forward proved difficult some days, however, there was nothing else Seth could do.
[break][break]
Quietly, the dragon observed the purple-haired woman, absorbing the words she stated. Conversation was considered a spectacular, something of a treat in Seth's experiences. Constantly, he craved the sweet taste of word exchanges and pleasant atmosphere of interactions. The dragon favoured Madelyn with a lack-lustre neutral expression despite his enjoyment of connecting with other individuals. A book was fetched from the shelf, an explanation of the plot offered by the kindly woman. The brunette's eyes flickered with curiosity about the book.
[break][break]
"Sounds interesting," he responded as he grabbed the book.
[break][break]
Quietly, Seth gazed over the cover, admiring the artwork as he listened to the young lady's advice. She suggested trying other hobbies to fend boredom through trying alternative hobbies.
[break][break]
"I will consider it," he assured.
[break][break]
With those words, he kept glancing over the book, curious about the mystery aspect of the book. The dragon was admittedly intrigued and willing to try reading the book. Part of him wanted to know what would happen to the unfortunate framed man. What if the ending was saddening? He wanted to know!
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
The quiet words managed to earn Seth the young lady's attention. It granted him the opportunity to inquire about a book recommendation from the purple-haired lady and allowed him to see her face. Based on appearance, she looked young, however, age was impossible to gauge with the existence of ageless immortality. Despite her face being that of a young adult, she could potentially be thousands of years old. If so, it would be similar to his situation of truthfully being from before the War of Traitors, but exhibiting no outward traits of that age.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, his polite 'excuse me' was taken the incorrect way with the purple-haired girl believing he required access to the shelves. While actions were taken on the assumption, Seth took no measures to correct the words he stated. What mattered was discovering another book to distract him during his lonesome holidays. After his question was asked, the woman smiled at him and inquired about his favoured books. Preference was fortunately not an issue given the fact Seth merely required a distraction through those lonesome days.
[break][break]
"Well, anything would do," he explained, tucking his hands in his pockets. "I'm not picky. I just need something to do."
[break][break]
The freelancer vaguely explained his situation to the friendly woman willing to assist him. There would be no pressure placed on her. Should he dislike the book? Then he would consider handing it off to somebody who could enjoy it. Stories were designed to be shared after all.
[attr="class","crashLyrics"]is it still a home[break]when you're all alone?
[attr="class","crashBody"]
Another holiday, another reminder of the loneliness which consumed Seth constantly. Everybody else he knew possessed families, pleasant ones they could return to through Christmas and New Years. They would share smiles and happiness between one another. Together, they would spend their holidays with endless joy and love. A soft sigh escaped the dragon’s mouth as he walked down the sidewalks, hands hiding inside his jacket. Snow fell slowly around him, contrasting the rush of people accomplishing their last minute Christmas shopping.
[break][break]
Hastily, people would rush past, entering stores inside the business district to buy their gifts. A sigh escaped Seth’s lips as he ventured down those crowded sidewalks, heart lonely despite people being around him. As he continued to trek down those concrete walkways, the dark-haired man’s eyes caught something. The store sold small trinkets and accessories, but also mentioned having a small section for books. He paused for a moment, recalling the name of a book one of his clients read and recommended to him.
[break][break]
Christmas would be undeniably lonely, thus why not curl up on the couch and read for a majority of it? The earth dragon turned towards the door, pushing it open. Hesitantly, he entered, his eyes scanning the area as he stepped inside of the small shop. Steps were taken towards the book section, Seth's eyes curiously glancing around as he moved through the building. His hands remained in the pocket of his black winter coat. Beneath that was his jeans, one of the few good pairs the freelancer possessed; which were rare.
[break][break]
The dark-haired man was quick to turn into the book section, where he discovered a young girl with purple hair. They appeared to both be inside the small book section. There was a ponder about what the stranger planned on reading... the holidays were lengthy and lonesome. With that in mind, the brown-haired man strode forward to inquire about the young lady's choices.
[break][break]
"Excuse me," he started quietly to get her attention. "I was wondering if you had any suggestions."
[break][break]
Quietly, Seth waited for the purple-haired stranger to possibly provide suggestions. The freelancer was not complainant when it arrived to content to entertain him, especially given the distraction he desired. He wished to avoid the loneliness which lurked inside his heart.
