Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

Osheen's mother seemingly wants her to leave her alone, so her daughter wanders the streets of Lorsette until she stumbles across someone she's seen before and can't seem to tear her eyes away from.

The day of her suicide she's captured by an organization who intends to use her for nefarious purposes. Her self inflicted wound is rather painfully sewn and she then gets tossed into a 'woman eater' cell for two soldiers entertainment.
The Black Plague's plans begin to take form as Osheen endures another painful procedure of being tattooed with a curse that changes her identity. It is then that she meets another prisoner and is briefly possessed to act as someone this man used to know. She ends up slapping the soldier who possessed her but is soon brought back to her cell.

[attr="class","wrongTitle"]#04[break]THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Now that she holds some importance to a higher up within the organization, she's taken from the dungeons below and is given her own small bedroom. The prisoner from before surprises her with a visit, but she is riddled with guilt from repeatedly lying to him while being possessed. She uses her own supplies to try and bandage his battered body, but the soldier from before comes and takes him away by force shortly after.
Another visit from the man, but this time he is asking her questions of who she is and what she is to him. But Osheen has already learned that the curse makes it impossible for her to say her own name and so she tries to find a way to get around it.
Osheen kept an eye on him, glancing back and preparing herself for if he stumbled or fell. She wasn't very strong, but she was stubborn and that could give her strength at times. He made it pretty safely to her room, but to her horror...the sunlight from her window attacked him. A gasp left her as she whirled around to see the damage blistering his skin.
The smell was foul but she quickly rushed to the window to close the curtain. Sunlight...it hurt him... "I'm so sorry," she told him as she moved over and glanced at his arm. Osheen twisted and opened one of her drawers to retrieve the same ointment she had used on him before.
Quickly she put some on a bandage and moved to carefully rest it atop his newly acquired wound. She panted lightly because her heart was pounding and she just felt...awful for not realizing. Did that make him a vampire? She kind of hope he was because they drank blood and healed right? "Do you know what species you are?" She asked him softly, staring up at him with concern lacing her features.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]Osheen popped a little in place, nothing huge but a tiny start from when he scoffed. She was really on edge because of his fear power and it made her feel kind of down with herself. Why was she always so jumpy? The person didn't even have to be out of sight for her to get startled either, she could just be zoned out and someone makes a noise right in front of her nose and she'd yelp. It hadn't really been too much of a problem in her life, but right now it was standing out like a sore thumb.
The man began speaking then and Osheen's eyes grew wide and attentive. He was very intimidating to look at, he was super tall, dark, with pale like features. He looked like a man who would say very little words, maybe loom in the shadow, but he was surprisingly talkative...and then there was the fact that he seemed to have been eavesdropping on the entire conversation between her and that other worker.
It made her feel pretty stupid for following along so easily which made this guy in front of her have to go out of his way to inform her of the situation. She was wasting his time...he looked important and it made her feel pretty down more than usual. But she supposed that was because of the fear that was mingling in with her emotions. But she forced a smile that was as convincing as the sun and offered her name politely.
"I'm Osheen, sorry we had to meet like this," she told him softly but then grew flustered when she belatedly realized he was holding a muffin out for her. She didn't really like muffins but she took it regardless. However, when their skin briefly touched and she instantly felt the ice cold sensation of it her lilac eyes grew wide in awe as she was given another vital hint to his species. What had fear and was ice cold to touch...vampire? No... Uhh... it was there on the tip of her tongue!
She couldn't ask because it was rude, but then she was just kind of standing there not offering the guy anything. "Thank you for the..." she paused as she glanced down as though she were trying to remember what she had been given. "Muffin," she declared as she held it up somewhat to show she knew what she was talking about.
A faded blush touched her cheeks then as she frowned somewhat feeling pretty stupid with this whole conversation. "What's your name...er...I mean...you are probably busy I shouldn't keep you. Thank you for this. I'm sorry for stupidly following a stranger over here..." she told him with an awkward laugh. But her spirits were somewhat down over this entire situation...a situation she would not be telling her mother.
Osheen's gaze was focused on the window and she was currently watching some guard patrol the area. She was being really watchful of things, and testing the ground with some other things. But she really had nothing solid. None of the other prisoners seemed to be focused on escaping and some were even being pressured into joining the assembly.
That seemed silly, but it could work to her advantage if that was how they recruited people then there had to be someone not fully committed to the assemblies cause. She just had to be as nice as she could to everyone and hopefully something would come up. It was always easy for her to get along with others...she just...had trouble going beyond that.
Anyone she ever cared about...they were fine with knowing her at a distance but beyond that...as soon as they saw a crack in her flawless smile...they rejected her. A sigh left her, but she soon held her breath when she felt...the sensation of fear entering the area. It wasn't as strong as usual but it was still there.
Was it him? She frowned lightly as she moved to her door and peered outside it. Her gaze moved to the man from before and her eyes immediately widened. She didn't hesitate to go towards him in order to look him over. He looked more...conscious if that made sense, but his body was still battered and bruised.
"Can you come into my room again?" She asked but didn't wait for an answer and instead tried to lead him towards her sleeping area.
Osheen paused when the stranger began to reach for nothingness. Her gaze dulled and she felt herself fill with sadness at his state. He was completely mad from the torture and experiments they had put him through. She wondered what it was that he was seeing... She hoped it was nice...something that he wanted...
A low exhale left her as she tried to stop herself from crying again. That was all she had done in this place and it was just draining her strength. But it was much easier thought than actually done. Carefully she continued trying to help him even while he reached for nothing, but the sudden jarring of him being hauled to his feet caused her to yelp in fright.
She stumbled to her own feet and glanced back to see the soldier from before had come into her room and grabbed the strangers out stretched arm. "W-Wait," she called out and followed after them. The solider seemed to pause which shocked Osheen, but she didn't hesitate to try and do something.
"He needs time to heal and rest." She argued pointlessly because she knew the soldier wouldn't listen to her. And just as she suspected he began to drag the other guy out of the room, and she stupidly tried regardless, to block of the way to her door.
The man got right in her personal space before recognizing the fact that she was blocking his path. "Please...I know you have your orders but try to...go slow with walking with him?" She asked, and was only given another brief pause and long gaze before the man pushed past her with ease and left.
Osheen's back hit the door frame and the tattoo on her spine was instantly aggravated. She gritted her teeth and closed her eyes as she tried to fight through the pain. When she finally looked up the two of them were gone...and she could feel the weight of her uselessness cutting into her.
"I don't care...I'll find a way to help..." she whispered through her tears as she pulled away from the doorway and moved to sit down onto her bed.
❥ Osheen stumbled lightly forward as she was hauled along by the same soldier who always took her places. He worked directly underneath an important person who had been referred to as The Black Plague. But she'd never actually met him...only heard that he had plans for her. Her features were somewhat lifeless as she followed the soldier down the twisting stairs and long stone hallway until they were stopped by two other soldiers.
"New orders! She goes in that cage," one of the men snickered and gestured to a prison cell with another man who was surrounded in darkness. Osheen appeared tired and confused, but the soldier handling her wouldn't budge. He refused their orders and moved to deliver her to her own cage. The other soldiers grumbled openly behind them in complaint as they comment on how that wouldn't work because the guy was a soulless piece of sh*t.
Osheen was released and locked inside her prison cell and slowly she turned to watch the soldier from before lock her cage door. She could feel hot tears streaming down her face, but she was in too much pain to even realize that she was crying. She just stared at the solider which caused him to glimpse up at her for a moment before he turned to take his leave.
A shudder left her as she drew her wrist up and stared down at the new stitches she just had to endure. The doctor who had attended to her didn't bother to give her any pain medication for it...but it made sense...she was a prisoner after all.
"I didn't scream though...right Forix?" She told her fox friend as she felt more hot tears rolling down her cheeks. She smiled a little feeling...brave...
"Hey you!" One of the soldiers from before startled her gaze upwards. "Didn't you know talking to yourself is a crime around here?" Osheen didn't understand but they just laughed and kept taunting her as though it was some kind of amusing game for them. "You'll have to be punished. We're going to throw you into a cage with a woman eater, ha yeah, he'll tear you to pieces if we let him," the guy snorted and glanced to his other friend who slapped his knee in amusement.
The two of them...seemed so comical...and ridiculous...but even they were a threat here. Apparently they wanted her to beg to not take her to the cage. But Osheen just...stared at them...she was too tired to care...and didn't want to give them any form of satisfaction. In the end they grabbed her and brought her to the same cell as before. Inside was the male strapped down in what appeared to be some kind of asylum jacket, he also had a thick collar that was chained to the wall.
It was awful...he looked like an animal. But then that's what they were...meat to be harvested and sold to the highest bidder. Osheen stumbled inside as they locked the gate and continued to taunt her before they took off.
"Are you a woman eater?" She asked as she lowered down to her knees and smiled warmly at the other man. She wasn't scared of him...she wouldn't believe the soldiers until she had a reason to. Maybe he was...maybe he'd kill her...maybe not...what did it matter?
Osheen drew her hands to her lap and looked to him unmovingly. Even in her withered state she showed him kindness, a stranger with an unknown history. Lots of people would call her foolish, but she knew what it was like to never feel the warmth of someone's smile...to be alone...
She'd never do that to someone else. "I'll be good company I promise," she told him and wondered how long it had been since he had been treated like an actual living being.
[attr="class","baizetag"]outfit:►tags:Carmine Andreasennotes: You know the drill! Message me if anything is wrong. xD Had a little trouble getting her in Carmine's cell, but I figured the two buffoons would just go behind the other soldier's back and get her anyways.
Osheen was surprised that he let her take care of him, but then his eyes seemed completely lost to another world. He didn't even seem to see her truly as she carefully worked with his body to bandage and wrap him up. The first attempt was too loose and sloppy, the second too tight, but the more she did...the less clumsy she was with it.
Still, it didn't make her feel good to see that she was messing up when every second counted with this guy. She hesitated when she saw some debris in his hair and she went to carefully remove it. Had he been thrown into walls? Beaten endlessly? How could anyone torture someone so greatly? What could anyone get from the pain of others?
There was already so much pain in the world... Osheen shuddered a breath when she felt the tears streaming down her cheeks. "Sorry," she told him as she drew her hands up to quickly rid her eyes of her emotions. Now wasn't the time to cry...she needed to be strong.
"Are you thirsty or hungry?" She asked, and bit her lip when she saw the man's lips dry and cracking. "Um..." she fumbled and put some ointment on her fingers to try and touch them to his lips. But she..was nervous and...couldn't do it.
"Hold on I'm going to put this on your mouth," she revealed and only then did she start to carefully coat his lips.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]Osheen's eyes widened long before the man spoke to her. She felt the fear creeping into her without warning and it caused her to get goosebumps. Her heart lightly pounded within her chest as she stiffened and slowly squeezed her hand down against the napkins for support.
"Making quite the mess there girl," the man spoke, his voice low but unyielding and it took her a moment to turn towards him. She appeared absent minded when she looked to him because she was gauging how to respond. She was petrified of him...someone she had never met...that was his magic...his ability to make those around him scared or was he just focusing on her? Lilac eyes drew to the people around her but they appeared normal.
"I'm...sorry if I made you angry," she told him quietly, but didn't look to his face instead she kept her eyes rooted to his chest. If everyone else appeared normal then he had to have been targeting her because she had made a mess.
'Stop being rude Osheen. You can look him in the eyes...you are not a coward and he hasn't done anything to scare you. Maybe he can't control his powers.' She made excuses in her head and they gave her strength to take in a deep breath and draw her eyes up to him. Osheen offered him a genuine and small smile in hopes to show that her apology was real.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]"Are you sure you'll be okay, mom?" Osheen asked her mother with a warm gleam in her eyes. The older woman gave her a strained smile and nod. "Yes, go enjoy yourself," she told her and held out a crinkled twenty dollar bill. Her daughter took it and tucked it away within her pocket before leaving the hospital. When the doors closed behind her she let out a long breath and slumped her shoulders.
She was so happy today and nervous, but mostly happy. This was the first time her mother had taken her on a solo trip to another city to attend one of her appointments. Of course her other siblings were all busy and so she was last to be picked, but Osheen was determined to make this trip successful and that started with not annoying her mother by hanging around her all day while she dealt with doctors.
However, she was sad because she wanted nothing more than to spend time with her mother. The thought caused her features to fade into a solemn look. But she forced a smile and moved away from the hospital. "It's nice that she gave me twenty dollars," Osheen spoke to seemingly no one. She was alone moving down the sidewalk so she felt comfortable speaking to the objects around her.
"I'm not going to spend it though," she spoke as though he were scolding a child as she leaned down towards a bush of flowers. But she was just being playful. "I'll find something free to do and then surprise her with something nice when we go back to the hotel." Osheen explained as she moved forward, but there was an invisible weight within her heart because she wanted to get along with her mom. She wanted this to all work out so badly, but she didn't know how...she had been trying her whole life, but her mother still always acted the same around her.
Lilac eyes lowered to the ground as she stopped walking and stared aimlessly at her shadow. The sound of camera shots caused her gaze to lift towards a section that was within a park area with thick forest trees encasing the surrounding area. It didn't take the young girl long to recognize that it was some kind of model shoot. Curiosity bloomed within her and she instantly crossed the street to get a closer look.
"Wow," she muttered in amazement as she gripped the edge of a tree and watched from afar. She wasn't the only one interested of course and other people paused to watch. Unknown to her was one of the workers had spotted her and come over to speak with her. "Well hello there." The man said and Osheen instantly let out a sound of startled shock, which shocked him since he hadn't really tried to be sneaky. "S-Sorry I get scared easily," she immediately apologized and waved her hands in front of him. He seemed to take the whole thing lightly and let out a laugh. "Not to worry, but hey as a way of saying sorry how about some snacks?" He offered and pointed towards a table filled with a variety of foods.
"Oh no, that's fine thank you," Osheen quickly told him and felt flustered that he felt the need to offer "Now, I'll be hurt if you don't take something we've got a lot and these models never eat anything so it'll all go to waste anyways." He told her and lifted his hand to whisper the 'model insult'. The dusty haired girl opened her mouth to say something but his insistence was quiet...persistent as he pressed at her shoulder and guided her forward. He seemed to want to join her but someone ended up calling out to him and he quickly left.
Osheen immediately sighed in relief as she stood before the table of food. She...wasn't really comfortable taking anything but felt rude just taking off. But the guy was kind of...awkwardly pushy if that made any sense? Was she being too sensitive? Osheen drew her hands up to her stomach and clenched them into nervous fists as she turned to try and see where the guy had gone, but she accidentally bumped into a glass which caused it to spill onto the white cloth.
A muffled sound of dismay left her as she picked it up and and got juice all over her hands. "No...no," she whispered to herself and began hastily trying to clean up her mess with a plethora of napkins.
{outfit} | {morning} | {fall} {ooc: Hope this was okay! Let me know if you need any changes! ♥}
[attr="class","wonderFoot"]The flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong
Osheen cringed at the sound of his voice. It was as though he had not drank in centuries. Was he even human? Did he need to drink? How was she supposed to aid him when she didn't know how to help him? The thought made her emotional all over again but she tried to focus on leading him towards her room. She kept lifting her hands as though she were ready to try and catch him if she had to.
But somehow despite his state he managed to make it to her bedroom. "H-Here..." she stumbled out as she guided him onto her bed. Osheen's lilac eyes looked him over and she could see the bruises and needle punctures all over him.
"I'm going to help you," she told him softly and glanced around trying to locate anything that could help. In the end it was within the pile of things she had been given, apparently some ointment for her healing tattoo. Her fingers trembled as she dealt with the constant waves of his fear, but she was determined not to fail him any further than she had. If she could just take some of his pain away she would do it.
Slowly she began to apply the ointment and began using her weeks worth of gauze's and bandages on him.
The possessions hadn't stopped that day. The nameless soldier continued to invade her mind in order for her to play the role of Chou. She didn't understand why they had tattooed her...why they had cursed her when they were able to make her into their personal puppet. The dusty haired girl sat atop a bed that was supposed to be hers along with the room. But she knew better...she knew that she had been moved from the dungeon below because she was somewhat important now.
None of this was permanent...it could all be reverted at any time. And so she felt no relief to be out of the cage below and into a new one that tried to give the false comfort of safety. Her eyes were dull as she stared blankly ahead, too tired to even imagine Forix comforting her. Beside her were some basic necessities, clean clothes, toothbrush, and other things that she hadn't bothered to look at.
Osheen grew tense suddenly when the heavy waft of fear began to creep inside of her again. She had felt this multiple times now, but it was never something she grew used to. Lilac eyes lifted to catch sight of the man she had met repeatedly for a week now...and upset instantly seized her heart. She felt awful for...tricking him..for being a tool to his pain. But he was hurt, he was always hurt and she couldn't bring herself to ignore his presence.
With glossy eyes she tried to restrain her emotions as she stood from her bed and began towards her door. There were a few others within the common room that connected all the 'higher' up prisoners, but she didn't have time to speak with them. The man whose name she hadn't even been given looked as though he were on the verge of death.
She didn't know why they had released him, and she half expected them to be watching somewhere. Osheen knew this was part of their master plan and that she was being a further pawn by going to him. But she couldn't leave him in such a state. Nervously she looked to him as she stood before him and fretted a little because she wasn't sure where to touch him or really what to do.
"You can come to my room to rest?" She offered, her voice emotional and cracking slightly as she held out her hand hoping that he might take it.
The guttural voice of the colorless man echoed within the room as he taunted his prisoner with questions Osheen didn't understand. But she didn't expect the stranger to call out in her defense. However, she was given no time to respond because the soldier from before had regained his composure and was moving to grab her again.
Lilac eyes widened as she jerked her hand upward to her breast and readied her hand to delve inside and retrieve the weapon she had managed to conceal. But as the male approached...she hesitated...and that was her downfall. She couldn't cut him...she couldn't do it...
A muffled sound of pain escaped her as she was carelessly hauled to her feet. It was all so anti-climatic, like nothing in the movies or books. But real life was always like that. If she was inside a movie...she would have cleverly dodged his grasp or broken out of her imprisonment. Instead, she just fumbled to the floor and was scooped back up like a wounded bird.
Osheen was forced towards the strapped down man and her gaze strained with the pain and suffering she saw in his eyes. He looked mad...as the men had described him, but his agony was very much real. Lilac eyes drew into a frown as she lifted them and felt the heavy weight of something. It felt as though she were sinking, but she remained standing where she was...until the presence of another was felt inside of her.
Words of another language began to leave her mouth... but they were not her...they were someone else. She could feel her heart sinking as she began to be the one who brought on the man's torture. It was horrible...and she finally understood what they all meant when they told her she was 'Chou' now.
The man yelled the name of someone he once knew...someone they wanted her to become and then she was torn away from him in the most violent manner. She was made to kick and scream to torment him as she was dragged from the room...and then the invasion was over. The soldier who had been holding her appeared to draw from a semi-daze and she knew instantly that he was the culprit.
Without thinking she slapped him as beads of tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She felt so...disoriented but she didn't want to be invaded again and without thinking she tried to run. But she was grabbed and stopped by the scientist beside her and finally the soldier again. It was then that she was brought back to her prison cell and left to...wallow in what had just happened to her.
But just as she braced herself another wave of fear began to pierce through her. Lilac eyes drew towards the source, a man tall in stature and bone chilling to look at. When his head started in her direction, Osheen immediately stared ahead to the man before her...the one who was tied down.
He looked to be in terrible agony more so than her and it made her heart squeeze with pain. She knew nothing about the man, but she could tell that he was a prisoner like herself and somehow their futures would tie together. Osheen made a low sound of surprise when the soldier beside her suddenly began moving forward bringing her deeper into the room until the door was shut behind them.
Wide eyes peered back towards the closed door, but she soon looked to the sinister man when he went for a needle. Within it was a neon blue substance that glowed as though it were filled with radiation. She thought it was for her and it caused her to push back against the soldier's hold despite it already being quiet painful. But then without warning or preparation he was plunging it into the tied down prisoner.
"S-Stop it," Osheen's voice broke through the suffocating silence and although fear gripped her at every corner she now pulled forward and against the soldiers hold. "Stop!" She bellowed louder when electricity began to be surged into the man. Her time here had shown her to be meek and silent, but she hated seeing the torture of others.
"Let go of me," she yanked and twisted at her arm despite the seizing pain that began to rippled through her back. She could feel the hold against her loosening or perhaps that was just within her imagination...because she was soon yanked forward restrained.
However, to her shock the man behind all of this ordered the soldier to let her struggle. But his words were not from kindness and instead a twisted enjoyment from the conjoined misery of both his captives. The reality of his reaction was nothing she could have ever expected and it felt surreal. But it made her angry...it made her fill with rage as she thought about the man thinking her so incapable to just pathetically squirm.
Lilac eyes lowered to the ground where she saw Forix, his black ears were low, his face resting on his dark paws and she could see his sorrow. But she silently promised him that they would be together even if she was killed. The foreboding man spoke again, but this time it was towards the one they were torturing.
Osheen's features hardened as she felt the soldier loosening his hold against her to let her feebly fight, but to his surprise she didn't pull, she bit hard. The man yanked his arm from her grasp in shock and freed her completely from his hold. Osheen awkwardly stumbled and unexpectedly landed on her backside, but she was free now and she had one last tool at her disposal.
Osheen's features were drawn into a strained frown as she fought to hold her head up. Burning agony encased her back and it was only heightened with each step she took. But neither the solider forcing her forward or the scientist ahead of her slowed their pace. Osheen strained as she tried to press onward but not for them...it was for herself...to show that she was stronger then they all believed her to be. Pain seized her frail body and caused her eyes to burn, but she gritted her teeth and drew her gaze to an empty space on the floor and smiled warmly.
There within her mind was the only friend she had in the whole world...Forix. He was a beautiful fox with vibrate orange fur, a tail that looked as though it had been dipped in a white bucket of paint and then his ears and paws...they were all a dull black and everything was ever so fluffy. His silver eyes gleamed with gentle concern for her as he pitter-pattered along beside them. He wanted to help her but he was like her...broken and powerless. The two of them understood each other and would always—
"Hold her upright!" The scientist ordered impatiently when Osheen's legs unexpectedly buckled beneath her. She felt the twist of her arm as the Soldier yanked her upwards to prevent her from falling completely. Everything hurt...any movement...it all hurt so badly.
Tears slipped down her eyes as she was forced to begin walking once more. The man in front of her began to grumble complaints as they moved...about her being a magic-less human... that would fail before they saw any results. His word shouldn't have impacted her because it was something echoed time and time again in her life. She wanted to cry more, but she tried to focus...tried to see the white tipped fox tail flickering in her mind.
She would be okay...no matter what...she would be okay.
Her shoulders trembled lightly as the sound of muffled screaming began to grow louder until the door to the mad man's chambers was opened. There were other people within the room, but Osheen was struck with the suffocating fear that bellowed through the entrance like a black smog. She couldn't breath as the invisible magic clenched around her heart so tightly that she felt as though it would crush it.
She was going to be okay...she had to remember...she had to face her eminent future with strength...even if no one else saw it. She choked out a breath to try and force her lungs to work again, but as she stood there soaked in the man's fear... she trembled and shook as though she were nothing but a child about to be slaughtered.
