Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
❥ Osheen hadn't made it too far, but that was just because she was human. However, she had made it impressively far all things considered. But not without consequence. For the most part she managed to avoid other people, but rounding a sharp corner proved fatal. Her face went straight into the chest of another and once again she flopped down on her butt.
"Ouch," she whispered because twice in a row in such a short period of time did not help her rump. But to her horror, she was not the only one who fell down. Immediately, the cry of a male followed by a female entered her ears, and lilac eyes became wide as the sight before her unfolded.
There was a male who looked younger than he was, he had very pale skin and gray hair and he was actually bleeding from the fall due to his species being very fragile, but Osheen had no idea he was a Jorogumos. Then there was a female, she had green hair with blue highlights and a mask over her mouth to protect her from the cities pollution, since she was a merfolk, but furthermore the two were solemates and the woman was not happy.
"How dare you!" She yelled, blue eyes almost gleaming with the beauty of the ocean. "Kitara, it's fine," the bleeding male tried to tell her, his voice raspy from the fall. But she was acting on instinct, and revenge was her goal.
"I'm so sorry I...," she began, but grew stiff when the female raised her hand, drawing water from around them to form a bubble inches from her face. It was really pretty, but also deadly, especially when the girl commanded the bubble of water forward and completely encased her face.
A soft sound escaped her as she held her breath and realized what was happening. It wasn't in the least bit nice considering she had collected street water. But what was more pressing then that was the fact that she couldn't breath. She closed her eyes and reached up naturally trying to shove the water away, but it just kept flowing back like a magnet.
She wanted to tell them that she was sorry, but she couldn't do anything or even hear anything for that matter.
"Kitara," the grey haired male complained lightly as she helped him to his feet and started to pat him down. "Don't worry, I won't kill her. I'm just going to let her choke for a bit." She concluded with a shrug.
[attr="class","baizetag"]outfit:heretags: @bell notes: UH-OHHHHH.I randomized their species and made a story for them. I WOULD HAVE ADDED PICTURES....IF I COULD LOOK THEM UP ARGH. xD
❥ "Bullshit," he was so quick with his words, but Osheen was beginning to see the way he kept looking over his shoulder. In fact, she recognized it as kind of a skittish prey reaction. Of course, she had no idea at all she was even dealing with a rooster. No, everything else about him screamed predator. She was scared, humiliated and mortified when he continued to demand an answer.
There was no way on heaven, earth or hell that she'd tell him the truth. But denying him wasn't really an option either because she didn't know him and he could easily hurt her. The thought was upsetting but it was the reality of the situation...they were strangers and—
"L-Little Hen?" She repeated looking confused, but held her breath when she realized she had said that out loud. "Okay!" She announced but even just thinking about telling him the truth caused her face to burn red.
Perhaps a plan was in order... slowly she reached over to her bag, but was careful in her movements to show him that she meant no threat. She found what she was looking for a notepad. She'd tell him, and while he was distracted she'd make a run for it. And then she planned to never leave her mother's hotel room ever again! She'd, she'd hide in the bathroom if she had to!
Slowly she began to write, occasionally glancing up before inwardly squealing and lowering her eyes once more. Finally the message was finished, but before giving it to him she slowly rose to her feet. Okay, she was ready. Her chest was heaving a little as she narrowed her gaze with determination, bit her lower lip hard and held the notebook out to him.
The moment he had it, she didn't even hesitate, Osheen twisted on her heels and ran for her life, as far away and fast as she could and she would not stop until her legs gave out!
[attr="class","baizetag"]outfit:heretags: @bell notes: RIP times 10 Osheen, ALSO SHE STUPIDLY SIGNED HER NAME BUT TRIED TO CROSS IT OUT WITH THE BLUE PEN SHE WAS USING.
❥ It was crazy, absolutely insane. She physically felt the movement of the wind behind her, and then came the shadow, large wings spreading, towering and completely encompassing her shadow. Everything felt like it was in slow motion then, the sound of her breath escaping her as she whirled around eyes wide and heart nearly exploding. Her balanced was completely thrown when she hit the concrete ground below her knocking the wind out of her. But even then she couldn't breath because he was spectacular and terrifying all at the same time.
Caught, was exactly what she was and the moment he asked her aggressively what the f**k she was doing following him the tears came. "I...I," she hyper ventilated as she tried to speak, but she was scared out of her wits. Even though he was the most attractive man she'd ever laid eyes on, she couldn't quite pull herself from the situation she found herself in.
"I...I wasn't!" She suddenly formed the words, even though she was as guilty as can be. It was stupid to lie to a magical creature because he probably had twenty powers to figure that out. But it was what escaped her and she instantly covered her face in sheer humiliation. Her heart was pounding so fast that it hurt, but she had managed to stop herself from fully crying. Only glossy tears met the other male's as she remained there on the ground.
"I mean...I was but...I don't know why. I'm sorry," she whispered and chose wisely to stare at his feet instead. What a stupid decision, she really really regretted it, like ten fold.
[attr="class","wonderBody2"]Osheen couldn't help but admire the man before her. She could feel the fear in her chest still, but it didn't stop her from enjoying his company. Lilac eyes follow his towards the models and seeing them in all their spectacular glory made her wonder briefly why he was taking the time to talk to her. But then he didn't seem much interested in his job. Maybe he was desensitized to it. She certainly had no clue about modeling...only that she secretly wished she could do it.
"We will need to part soon eventually," he told her and something about what he said or the way he said it made her sad. But she grew distracted by the moth when he brought it close to her face. She tensed holding her breath, but forced herself to keep her eyes on the creature attentively. T-The wings were beautiful, but the body is what got to her! Even butterflies could be the same way.
"I will," she suddenly expressed with boldness again, promising to think of him whenever she saw a moth. He certainly made it sound cool, and she wondered if they would ever meet again. It was a nice thought, but she wasn't actually dumb enough to believe it.
When he wrote down his personal number for her she felt her eyes burn a little with emotion because it was such a kind thing to do. "Thank you," she told him, as she took the card and stared down at it, looking at his writing and then the front.
She wanted to give him her number in return, but real life wasn't that easy...especially when dealing with men. It was dangerous for a girl to be so transparent especially one without any power. The thought made her sad, but she kept her emotions from showing.
"I really appreciate it," she told him softly, but did pause when she heard one of the workers asking for the time. "...I should get back, my mother is probably worried. Thank you for the lovely conversation though, it was really cool to meet you," she told him warmly and felt the temptation to hug him, but that was far too embarrassing.
"Good bye, Sven!" She told him with a new energy as she took her leave and waved. He had made her day less lonely and despite some of her darker thoughts she was happy peering down at his card with affection.
{outfit} | {morning} | {fall} {ooc: OH MY WORD I AM SORRY. BUT I HAVE CLOSED THIS THREAD, COMPLETED THEIR AMAZING MEETING...AND I UNDERSTAND IF MY YEAR VANISHING HAS MURDERED YOUR ABILITY TO EVER RP WITH ME REGARDLESS YOU ARE AMAZING. -CLINGS-}
[attr="class","wonderFoot2"]The flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong
❥ "I need some time with your sister, can you just," her mother breathed out with tension and exasperation as she reached into her pocket to withdraw another twenty dollar bill. This was the third time since their trip here that she had done that...and Osheen hated to admit it but she was noticing a trend.
"It's fine! I still have loads of money left from all the other times, haha..." She forced a laugh and waved her off as she grabbed her bag and opened the hotel door. "There's lots of things I wanted to do so I'll probably be back late! Call me if you need me," she told her mother who watched her leave with no hesitation.
When the door closed Osheen's features completely fell and she felt a burning in her eyes. Her mother had taken her on the trip because she was forced to...there wasn't an ounce of want in her body to actually have her there. In fact she'd done nothing but try to get her to leave her alone...
Loresette wasn't a safe city either and so sending her out like this was dangerous, but clearly she didn't care about that. Maybe she even wanted something bad to happen to her. "No...don't say that Osheen," she whispered to herself and tried to be positive. "Looks like it's just me and you Forix," she told her invisible fox friend with a smile, but she wasn't really in the mood to ease her loneliness by playing pretend.
Osheen didn't much know where she was going but did actually pull out the card she had received from another gentleman she met. He had said to call for anything but that was silly...strangers didn't do that kind of thing. No, she suspected he was just being nice and she'd treasure the little card.
"He was pretty cool with those moths, even though they were scary," she pouted, but spoke with her voice low and always made sure no one was listening in. Osheen paused however, when her lilac eyes caught sight of someone...someone she'd seen before. Well, she couldn't exactly see them because their wings were blocking their face, but after a bit of following, she soon realized it was someone she had seen before.
"He's so...so...pretty," she whispered mostly to herself as she leaned against a pole and watched him from afar. She wasn't close enough to hear what he was saying or really get too much detail on him. But it was so obvious that she had a crush on him...a purely shallow crush she knew but they were strangers so it wouldn't hurt anyone.
In the end, she had time, and so she decided to spend it actually following him, always keeping her distance, but journeying down the same path as him nonetheless. Well, that was the plan, but eventually as she rounded one of the alleyways he had gone down...he was no where to be found.
Disappointment crept into her little face as she delicately glanced around, but the distance from where she was to the next round corner was too great. M-Maybe he had super speed and just...randomly used his power or he could have flown. Osheen instantly cranked her neck upwards peering into the sky, but there was nothing there either. A sigh left her instantly but she supposed it was for the best...stalking strangers wasn't exactly the brightest idea.

[attr="class","wonderBody2"]"I have something that does cause the fear," Sven told her as he glanced blankly towards the model shoot. Osheen followed his gaze curiously, but did listen as he told her that he couldn't control it. Her features strained with a soft sadness as she looked to him...and felt bad that he accidentally scared people. He wasn't scary though, he was really sweet and the thought caused her to smile. She was glad she gave him a chance because he deserved to be seen regardless of the fear he caused.
"Oh," she supplied sheepishly when the taller male told her that he was something to be feared. But then she gave him a cheeky grin when he said that he only went after bad guys. "Well I think your noble," she declared boldly. "We need more people like you." She gave a nod, but her smile faded when she thought about the evil in the world. There was a lot of it...everywhere... It was never like the movies or books, good didn't triumph...but that only made her more determined to brighten the lives of others. Which could be considered childish, but she didn't care.
A soft gasp left her when she saw that the guy had made a moth or called a moth or something! It was just hidden there in his hand and she couldn't believe it. Though her heart did jolt with fear when she saw the tiny creature because moths were a lot scarier looking than butterflies, but something about his secret warmed her heart. Butterflies were loved because of their beauty but moths were hated. She had never thought of that before and it made her sad that she had been someone who liked butterflies more than moths.
It made her feel determined to be better then that, and when she looked back to Sven she caught a brief smile on his lips. The sight made her tense with excitement and she felt more than rewarded with getting him to show some of his emotions. "I like moths too," she stated rather firmly.
Her cheeks soon darkened and she felt a flourish of fondness cradle her heart. She'd be happy with being a moth...with being seen beyond outward appearances. "I'm really happy I met you Sven," she told him as she glanced back up at him and gave another grin.
Osheen's smile grew and her heart fluttered with hope when his gaze seemed to soften for her. He looked calm...even in his beaten up state...he looked like she had given him peace. But her features fell and her heart quickly sunk...when he whispered that girl's name.
Chou...
The dusty haired girl did have feelings of negativity regarding her own existence. She really should have just accepted the new identity and moved on since her own wasn't much to begin with. But she did her best not to let thoughts like that taint her mind because there were others counting on her now.
A soft yelp left her as she turned and looked to the soldier from before. He was someone else she hadn't received a name from. "It's you," she said but grew silent as she realized their time was over...but at least the guy wasn't just dragging him off. "I'll see you later," she told the man before her softly and carefully guided him towards the other man.
"He should be able to walk along beside you," she tried to tell the soldier...in hopes that he might choose not to drag him away. She gave the guard a little smile but did look nervous as she combed her fingers together.
She had no idea what he was going to do when she grabbed him, but she felt like she needed to try and pull him back to reality. If she got hurt in the process she wouldn't blame him because the assembly had made him like this. Luckily, he didn't harm her and instead just asked her again...who she was.
The question made her eyes burn because...she couldn't tell him. She could tell him who she was...only lie to him. What happened if he got better? How would he see her then? The damage had already been somewhat done...but she would never willingly add to that betrayal.
"A friend," she told him warmly and went to grab his hand to clasp it in both of hers. Contact might show him better that she meant well. "I'm your friend," she repeated. But then realized that...she didn't even have is name.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]The guy's features were a blank slate with no real emotions that she could see. It made it really hard for Osheen to read what he was thinking. Still he answered her in a tone that could be considered bored especially since she had no idea what he was feeling. "Svvvveeen..." she repeated the name quietly to herself as though she were trying to get a feel for it. It was a pretty cool name and one she'd never heard before.
However, her thoughts were abruptly halted when the tall giant reached down to pat her atop her head. Large lilac eyes lifted to him and her heart started taking off because it was beyond embarrassing. He...he must have looked at her like a kid or something which made sense since most people presumed she was younger than she was.
The fear had faded, but Osheen actually hadn't even noticed yet. She was so wrapped up in her whirling thoughts that she couldn't slow down to take note of what her body was doing. The contact of his cold hand felt nice atop her head though which was surprising, but she imagined prolonged contact would probably become uncomfortable. "Just be careful around strangers," the guy began to tell her and then lowered down to be more at her level which only made her feel even more that he was treating her like a child! But to be honest she didn't mind and would much rather than then being flirted with. She smiled warmly at him and gave a light nod.
"Thanks you're really sweet," she replied to him and decided to get him back a little by reaching out and patting his head. Why not! He had done it to her, but as soon as she did it she immediately regretted it. She had a bad habit of getting too comfortable with people too fast and it did her no favors.
"But um!" She piped up as she jerked her hand back and tried to direct her attention onto something else. In the end she started eating her muffin. "A manager sounds important," she supplied excitedly and luckily prettily easily distracted herself from her most recent actions.
"I've never met a manager before." She continued yakking away. "Do you have powers to do that or--" Osheen's eyes grew wide when she realized she fumbled out something she hadn't meant to say. "I mean I... well I feel fear...or I felt it...and...I was probably just imagining things?" She continued questioning herself despite being pretty sure he had some kind of fear ability.

Osheen's eyes widened when the man before her abruptly rose and grasped at her shoulders. She flinched at the sensation of his fingers digging into her flesh. He was much stronger than her and his strength reminded her of the soldier who always carted her around. He appeared fearful and...angry as he soon released her and began grasping at his side.
She didn't know what he was seeing or going through. But he looked as though he were reaching for a sword that wasn't there. A light breath left her as she lifted her hands and grabbed his shoulders next trying to draw his attention to her.
"I'm going to help you." She told him. "I will help you," she told him again.
Once again he wouldn't take it, and she slowly capped and set the bottle down. He didn't want anything at all. Her features hardened with light concern as she contemplated her options. But she wasn't given too much time to think because he was asking her again...what she was to him.
She shook her head and drew her hands up to her mouth. She didn't want to say it, she didn't want to lie to him and tell him that she was someone he knew. But any attempt she made at trying to reveal her identity was thwarted. Even something as simple as shaking her head didn't work if she spoke and said the name Chou. But as long as she didn't attempt to speak on the matter she could shake her head.
The people could be watching too. "I want to help you," she decided instead to tell him. "I want to help you get better to..." she trailed off and didn't feel like she could say escape. She sucked in a sharp breath and got up to lean forward to whisper in his ear.
"Escape." She revealed but drew back to cover her mouth and glance around. She had no idea if anyone heard but her heart was racing. "What is your name?"
Osheen's shoulder slumped when he closed her hand over the pills and pushed her somewhat away. She nodded understandably as she peeked down at the two white pills and then pocketed them. Maybe he didn't trust her or maybe he knew that they wouldn't help his pain.
What if his wounds were a curse? If they could curse her existence to oblivion then why couldn't they curse a man to constantly be hurt? She wanted to ask him...to beg him to tell her how she could help. But that was unfair of her because he was sick and in no position to tell her what he needed.
What he needed was to escape this place, but that had become almost impossible now that she knew he couldn't stand the sunlight. His question drew her from her thoughts and she quickly sealed her mouth shut. Osheen had already learned the hard way with the other prisoners that she couldn't say her own name anymore. She could think it, but she couldn't say it or write it down at all.
"I'm sorry," she told him awkwardly and lifted the water to try and get him to have some. "It's safe," she told him and took a sip herself before holding it back to him. Maybe it was gross to share the same bottle but she was trying to help him and change the subject.
"My species is...human," she decided to offer him...in hopes to not completely avoid his question.
She began wrapping his wound then, but paused when he answered her. It was a start for conversation which was more then they had ever had before. There was some truth behind his words, but it wasn't his species. She tried to see if he had any fangs, but had no real experience with figuring peoples species out.
"Here, sit down," she offered in hopes that he'd be more steady seated. "I've got something for you." She smiled a little and moved to dig around in her drawer before coming out with some pain medication she had traded with the other members. "It's pain relief. Can you swallow them?" She asked and reached for a bottle of water, turning the top and opening it.
It was really not much at all, and if he was a vampire she wasn't sure if he'd even get any relief. But she wasn't no where near confident enough to try and feed him her blood. She had twenty more questions, but she just tried to focus on giving him some medication.
