Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr="class","prism-onebody"] Dani nodded. His description was nice and concise, although she wasn’t sure she understood what would really need to remain anonymous. She’d always thought that the mark of a good person was not hiding anything. Then again, even a murderer could be blatantly forthcoming about their actions and they still wouldn’t be a good person. Every rule had to have its exceptions.
She watched her father curiously for a moment. He wasn’t a bad person, she knew that. He cared for his family too much to not be a good person. He didn’t even snap at any of her siblings, even when they were being really annoying. Figuring out good vs bad was too complicated for her anyway. She wasn’t even sure she knew where she would fall on that spectrum. She was far too selfish in her own opinion, prioritising classes even if friends needed her attention too.
She blinked and returned her attention to the interview. “And, uh…” She didn’t like the phrasing of the next question so she took a moment to try to reword it in her mind. “Why did you chose to get into that field?” she asked. There would have to be follow up questions to actually cover everything this point was meant to get at, and she already started forming them as she waited for his response.

She didn’t know how other people could not put their best effort into their assignments. It felt like half assing it would just be a waste of time. If that’s what she was going to do it seemed so much simpler to disregard the assignment altogether, which she would never do because she liked pushing her own limits when things got tough.
She smiled as her dad agreed to do the interview. She really didn’t feel like finding someone else. ”Ok good! Let me just make sure I have everything in order,” she muttered, quickly scanning the questions she’d been given as in a checklist. Some were required but others were suggestions, meant to guide the interview and subsequent article in the direction of a ‘how did you get to where you are today’ story. She realised as she looked through them that she didn’t actually know most of the answers. There was a lot of her family’s past that just never came up in conversation. Not that she would care to ask on her own. To her the past didn’t really matter. It was the present and how it could shape the future that she focused on.
”Allllright!” she drew out the word as she finished shuffling around a few pieces of paper then pulled out her phone. ”I’ve got to record this so I don’t spend forever taking notes,” she explained as she navigated to the voice memos app. She skipped over the first few questions (basic things like ‘name’ and ‘age’ that she felt certain she already knew) before beginning. ”So first question, what do you actually do in your current job?” she asked.

[attr="class","prism-onebody"]For a mere teenage girl, Dani had a lot of responsibilities to balance. For the most part things seemed to line up so that when school was busier her other extra curriculars settled down and visa versa, which was nice because when both did happen to be busy at the same time it left her with very little room to pause and take a breath. Today she had been busy with student council and cheer into the late afternoon and she had finally settled down to look at her schoolwork at home at 5 o'clock.
It was a complete stroke of luck that the living room happened to be quiet - a rarity in the bustling Blane household - so she sat on the couch as she took notes from her textbook for her physics class. She hated science, so it required more attention to her other classes but... As she tried to focus on the pages she found her mind wandering to the steps of the latest routine they'd been learning at cheer practice instead. The material was just so dry. There was nothing to engage with at all and it was making her head hurt.
Almost indignantly she tugged the ponytail out of her hair and shook it out so it fell flat before once more staring at the one damned sentence of the text she couldn't focus through. It was something about enthalpy and thermodynamics but as she attempted to read it over again those two words were all that stuck. If she could physically fight a book she would.
After about ten minutes during which she made it through a total of two paragraphs she huffed and shut the book. Maybe if she tried again later she'd be able to focus better. For now it just felt like a waste of her time. Instead, she pulled out her planner and scanned over her other upcoming assignments.
She glanced up and her eyes fell on her green haired father sitting across the room. "Hey dad, are you busy?" she asked. "I have this assignment for school where I'm supposed to interview someone and write an article on them and I figure it'd be easier to do with family than anyone else. If not it's totally ok, it wouldn't be much trouble to find someone else."

Whether they seek a safe place to avoid judgement or they want to make a change, GSA is the place for any LGBTQ+ member to come. They meet during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays to chill. The club is not limited to people in the LGBTQ+ community! Anyone who is willing to be an ally can be a part of it. If a member wants to organize some sort of event to raise awareness for the community or form a protest against something they consider to be unjust, they can meet up with an event organizer to get the ball rolling. On Wednesdays during lunch, the board meets up to discuss these proposed events and plan how to pull them off.
The dance squad is a hip-hop group of high school-aged people that get together to practice dancing in a casual setting. It's a low stress environment that meets on weekends and after school hours on week days, but attending every meeting isn't a requirement. Kids get to practice, show off their skills, and learn from each other.
The Lorsette High Cheer Team is here for people to join! It is somewhat competitive to join, but once in there is no arguing allowed amongst the members (not that it doesn't happen from time to time). The team does cheer routines at pep rallies and games and they practice Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays after school. Some of their stunts can be dangerous so following safety guidelines is important! [break][break]
Standing at 5'5", Dani is short in comparison to most of her family. She has long red hair that she often wears tied up so that it's out of the way. Her deep red eyes are lightened by flecks of yellow and white that sparkle like stars in the night sky, a trait passed on through her species. She doesn't dress professionally and she hates wearing dresses, but she doesn't like to appear messy either. Usually this means a casual look with jeans, a t-shirt, and a jacket depending on the weather.
personality
POSITIVE - hard worker - competitive - loyal - organized - empathetic (though she doesn’t show it)
Dani is ambitious, but she doesn't like flaunting her successes. She is uncomfortable with others giving her attention. Although she is very organized and a good, well rounded student, she isn't the most social person. Despite her many roles in her community, she does not see herself as being worth much. She often keeps her distance from others and when they approach her she can come off as a bit blunt to begin with, but this is because she does not know how to deal with and be tactful around strangers. When she’s a friend she is fiercely loyal and protective, the type of person that can be depended on and is likely to accidentally get herself into trouble or overloaded rather than let someone she cares about to near the same road. This goes for her family too. If anyone might be a threat to her family she will take it very seriously.
abilities
Darkness Manipulation - Advanced Daniella is able to manipulate shadows. She can form them into objects, but doing so requires a lot of concentration and the more complex the object is the more energy it consumes.
Light Manipulation - Moderate Daniella has always been more comfortable with darkness than light. She can control light enough to brighten a room if it's too dark, but that's about it.
Dream Walking - Advanced Daniella is able to enter people's dreams. She cannot control them, she can only observe them and participate in them. Further more, she has to know the person and they have to happen to be asleep for it to work. While she is dream walking she is not actually getting any red of her own.
Force Field Creation - Moderate Dani is able to generate force fields. These are very useful for keeping pesky siblings out of her room when she's trying to study. She has also learned to add a small auditory filter to her force fields if she needs to block out any noise, though doing so takes more concentration and takes a lot of energy to maintain.
Natural - Night Vision, Cold Resistance, Healing Factor
backstory
Danielle has always considered herself to be a small part of a large family. Between two dads and their 8 children, her household was naturally a chaotic place to grow up. Add in an insane amount of aunts and uncles and there was barely a moment of silence in the place.
From the time she was young she had older siblings that already knew their place in the world. She did not understand the confidence her siblings had about them. She always saw the world as a place filled with choices and she couldn’t stand to let any opportunity slip away, leading her to branch out and try everything she could without much focus. She has always particularly liked dance based activities, but she has never believed herself to be good enough for it to be a potential future career choice.
As she shifted into high school, this began to become a problem. Between harder classes and taking on too many responsibilities, Dani’s world was packed with stress and she was not good at getting rid of that stress. Nonetheless she has continued to push herself and hasn’t completely broken down thus far.
